Good evening. The Welsh Government has called for

devolution of policing powers. The First Minister, Carwyn Jones, made

the call after publishing the Government's evidence to the Silk

Commission, which is considering the future of devolution. He also

said he'd like to see the criminal justice system being devolved in

the longer term. Rhys Evans has more.

Which direction does the Welsh Government want to see Wales and

devolution going? Today, it became somewhat clearer, in a statement by

Carwyn Jones. But first stake but - - the first been would be a new

government of Wales that, clarify what remains with Westminster. The

Bill would do Balfe policing, and in the longer term, the criminal

justice system as well. It's very important that we have a way of

dealing with any emergency a rising in Wales, and I think the people of

Wales want more inputs into which policies are developed relating to

policing in Wales in future. But a large number of questions will come

disappearance. Would Police and Crime Commissioner has remain as

will commission to consider all the evidence and announce its findings

by the end of the year. As the horsemeat scandal deepens,

Westminster ministers have been meeting supermarket representatives.

They had been discussing how to regain the public's trust in the

meat industry. The Minister for the Environment, Owen Paterson, says

99% of the produce tested so far isn't affected. Elen Wyn reports.
