The Westminster coalition's final before the general election has been

stronger economy and stronger society. But what were the changes?

There were changes to pensions, which gives pensioners more freedom

to spend their savings. A new group pension concept was also introduced.

It is interesting because there will no longer be a need to buy

annuities. This will give the individual more flexibility. There

is a debate over whether that is a good or bad thing. In a way,

collective pensions will restrict the way people can take out their

savings in future. More money is going to be released

to help with childcare, and there was a measure to make it easier for

companies to extract shale gas through fracking. Not everyone is

happy. It is going backwards.

There will also be a new move to make it easier to unseat this

behaving MPs. I think the announcement in the

Queens speech is a step in the right direction but what happens in

America is far more wide reaching. I think we might see this measure

strengthened as it goes through the two houses.

this is a revolutionary plan. everyone agrees. I was quite

disappointed by the Queen 's speech this year because it didn't include

many new things. People are being faced with massive fuel bills at the

moment and there is nothing in the speech to help them.

very effectively in Germany and elsewhere.

experience of adopting her two children.

we were quite fortunate in some ways because it took us nine months both

times before we were approved to adopt. The process itself is quite

difficult. You feel as though strangers are running your lives,

asking you personal questions and asking you to fill out a lot of

forms. You appreciate that social workers have an important role to

carry out that sometimes you do have to question whether the process has

to be so long and arduous. They are talking about speeding up the

process but they need to make sure that doesn't happen at the cost of

having to find an appropriate family for a child. There are children on

the waiting list to be adopted. Our children, even though they had been

with foster parents from the time they were born, it still took nine

months for them to make their way through the system so they could be

released for adoption. The longer children have to sit in the

fostering system, the harder it is for them to be adopted. People want

to adopt children as young as possible. How have adoption changed

your life? It has totally changed our lives. It is hard to remember

life before them. I don't know what we did with ourselves before we had

them! It is hard to believe how much it has transformed our lives. We
