This is an important point and a great dilemma we will face | :00:00. | :00:07.
We are just leaving hard to talk, because Hillary Clinton is about to | :00:08. | :00:12.
speak for the first time since collapsing in New York. Letters | :00:13. | :00:18.
cross to North Carolina to hear what she has to say. -- letters cross. | :00:19. | :00:24.
Thank you. Thank you all. Hello everyone, it is great to be here at | :00:25. | :00:43.
Greensboro. It means so much to have mafia here | :00:44. | :01:02.
along with her wonderful daughter, Sarah, and her mother, Barbara. And | :01:03. | :01:10.
the story she told is really one that motivates me every day, because | :01:11. | :01:16.
it is kids like Sarah that led me to politics in the first place, to try | :01:17. | :01:21.
and make our country and our world better for them. So to see Sarah | :01:22. | :01:26.
grown-up and thriving is very special and your whole family | :01:27. | :01:32.
support means the world to me. Thank you Martha, Sarah and Barbara. I | :01:33. | :01:39.
have to say, it is great to be back on the campaign trail! As you may | :01:40. | :01:51.
know, I recently had a cough that turned out to be pneumonia. I tried | :01:52. | :01:59.
to power through it, but even I had to admit that maybe a few days of | :02:00. | :02:11.
rest would do me good and I am not great at taking it easy even under | :02:12. | :02:15.
ordinary circumstances, but with just two months to go until election | :02:16. | :02:23.
day, sitting at home was pretty much the last place I wanted to be. But | :02:24. | :02:32.
it turns out having a few days to myself was actually a gift. I talked | :02:33. | :02:36.
with some old friends, I spent time with our very sweet dogs, I did some | :02:37. | :02:44.
thinking. The campaign trail at doesn't really encourage reflection. | :02:45. | :02:48.
And it's important to sit with your thoughts every now and then. And | :02:49. | :02:54.
that did help me reconnect with what this whole campaign is about. People | :02:55. | :03:02.
are like me, we are lucky. When I am under the weather... | :03:03. | :03:28.
CROWD CHEERS. I just want to have a conversation and other people can | :03:29. | :03:36.
wave their arms and their signers, but I want you to think with me for | :03:37. | :03:44.
a minute. Think with me about how I certainly feel lucky when I'm under | :03:45. | :03:48.
the weather I can afford to take a few days. Millions of Americans | :03:49. | :03:53.
can't. They either go to work sick or they lose a pay cheque. Lots of | :03:54. | :03:59.
Americans still don't even have insurance or they do, but it is too | :04:00. | :04:04.
expensive for them to actually use, so they toss back some pills, they | :04:05. | :04:12.
drink orange juice and they hope the car for the virus goes away on its | :04:13. | :04:18.
own. Lots of working parents cannot afford childcare, which in many | :04:19. | :04:24.
states, cost as much as college tuition. Some of the millions of | :04:25. | :04:29.
parents, if they get sick, there is no back-up. They are on their own, | :04:30. | :04:34.
aren't they? That is a story for too many people still in America. When | :04:35. | :04:40.
illness strikes or an accident happens, you feel you are on your | :04:41. | :04:48.
own. If you lose your job, or can't afford college, you're on your own. | :04:49. | :04:53.
If your ageing parent starts needing more help and you don't know what to | :04:54. | :04:58.
do, you are on your own. Life events like these are catastrophic for some | :04:59. | :05:07.
families but mere bumps in the road for others. I have met so many | :05:08. | :05:15.
people living on a razor's edge, one illness away from losing their job, | :05:16. | :05:18.
one paycheque away from losing their home. And that goes against | :05:19. | :05:24.
everything we stand for as Americans. Because some things | :05:25. | :05:31.
should not come down to luck. Some things should be within reach for | :05:32. | :05:32.
everyone, no matter what. Like financial security, like | :05:33. | :05:51.
affordable health care, like the peace of mind that comes with | :05:52. | :05:56.
knowing that if something goes wrong, your family will be OK. And | :05:57. | :06:02.
above all, the knowledge that no matter what, your president is | :06:03. | :06:08.
fighting for you and will always have your back. | :06:09. | :06:20.
That is, right there, that's why I got into this race. I am running for | :06:21. | :06:27.
everyone working hard to support their families. Everyone who has | :06:28. | :06:39.
been knocked down but gets back up. The factory workers on their feet | :06:40. | :06:43.
all day and the nurses looking after patients all the nights. I'm running | :06:44. | :06:47.
for young people like so many of you here who dream of changing our world | :06:48. | :06:53.
for the better and for all the parents and grandparents supporting | :06:54. | :06:57.
those dreams, by dedicating every dollar they can spare to your | :06:58. | :07:10.
education. I'm running for the LGBT teenager here in North Carolina who | :07:11. | :07:14.
sees your Governor signed a bill legalising discrimination and | :07:15. | :07:18.
suddenly feels like a second-class citizen. | :07:19. | :07:28.
And if anyone wonders what the cost of discrimination is, just ask the | :07:29. | :07:35.
people and businesses of North Carolina. Look at what is happening | :07:36. | :07:44.
with the ACC. This is where bigotry at Leeds and we can't afford it, not | :07:45. | :07:46.
here, not anywhere else in America. I am running for women like Janel | :07:47. | :08:03.
Turner. Back in May of last year, she was diagnosed with breast | :08:04. | :08:06.
cancer. She went through nearly six months of very tough treatments. | :08:07. | :08:11.
Last October, she brought her eight-year-old daughter to one of | :08:12. | :08:16.
our rallies in Iowa. They made a huge sign that said 13 chemotherapy | :08:17. | :08:28.
yesterday, three more, hear me roar! Wouldn't you want to meet the woman | :08:29. | :08:34.
behind that sign? Well, I sure did. So we got talking and we stayed in | :08:35. | :08:40.
touch. She keeps promising me she will see me at the inauguration and | :08:41. | :08:46.
I tell her, I'll keep working together and she had better be there | :08:47. | :08:51.
too. I'm running for her and all the mothers and fathers trying to get | :08:52. | :08:55.
and stay healthy so they can be there for their kids. But perhaps | :08:56. | :09:01.
most of all, I'm running for those kids. Standing up for children has | :09:02. | :09:13.
been the work of my life. As a lawyer with the children's defence | :09:14. | :09:18.
fund, as first lady, in Arkansas, in the White House, as a Senator, I | :09:19. | :09:23.
have fought for kids housed in a jolt jails, kids who are neglected | :09:24. | :09:27.
and abused, kids who could not get health insurance because of | :09:28. | :09:32.
pre-existing conditions, kids with disabilities so they could go to | :09:33. | :09:37.
school. You heard today from someone I've known for a long time, now | :09:38. | :09:45.
grown-up and lovely young woman. I learned from my family and my | :09:46. | :09:49.
Methodist faith that we are each called to do all the good we can | :09:50. | :09:53.
fall the people we can, for however long we can. Firmly, that means | :09:54. | :10:00.
making sure all our children have the chance to live up to their | :10:01. | :10:06.
God-given potential is. -- potentials. So when I meet a little | :10:07. | :10:16.
girl in Nevada, terrified her parents will be defaulted -- | :10:17. | :10:22.
deported, it hits me. When I meet a boy in Michigan who can't drink the | :10:23. | :10:25.
water at home or in a school because it is poisoned with lead, that gets | :10:26. | :10:32.
me going. All I want to do is get to work on making things better for | :10:33. | :10:38.
them. That is why I care so much by national security, too. I want is to | :10:39. | :10:43.
give our kids a safer world. To me, that means a world with strong | :10:44. | :10:48.
allies, more friends, fewer enemies and fewer nuclear weapons. | :10:49. | :11:01.
CROWD CHEERS. It also means a leading the fight against climate | :11:02. | :11:09.
change so we can leave our kids a healthy planet. My opponent in this | :11:10. | :11:21.
race disagrees with me on every one of these fronts. Just a few days | :11:22. | :11:27.
ago, he said that if another country's troops taunted ours, not | :11:28. | :11:33.
fired at them, but taunted them, just tournaments, he would respond | :11:34. | :11:41.
by blowing them out of the water. He would start a war over that. That is | :11:42. | :11:51.
just one more reason, my friends, why the stakes in this election are | :11:52. | :11:56.
as high as any in our lifetimes. I've been involved in politics in | :11:57. | :12:00.
one way or another for many years. It is not an easy business. It can | :12:01. | :12:07.
get rough and I've built up some defences. When it comes to public | :12:08. | :12:11.
service, I'm better at the service part than the public bar, but this | :12:12. | :12:16.
is why I do it and this is who I am in it for. Make life better for | :12:17. | :12:21.
children and families. And that is what this race has always been about | :12:22. | :12:25.
for me. Well, now we are in final stretch. There are just 54 days | :12:26. | :12:32.
until election day. Just 54 days until the most consequential vote of | :12:33. | :12:45.
our lifetimes. And just -- in a just a little more than a month -- a | :12:46. | :12:49.
month until the early voting starts in North Carolina. Let us make these | :12:50. | :12:55.
days count, particularly here. Because you know what your governor | :12:56. | :12:59.
and legislature tried to do, make it harder for young people to vote, | :13:00. | :13:04.
harder for people of colour, harder for people with disabilities, harder | :13:05. | :13:10.
for the elderly. They can't be any more motivation than that to make | :13:11. | :13:15.
sure every young person, every person of colour, every person with | :13:16. | :13:20.
a disability, every older person turns out and oppose. -- turns out | :13:21. | :13:34.
and votes. So let us tune out the chatter and nonstop analysis that | :13:35. | :13:40.
often doesn't have much to do with what the next president has to do. | :13:41. | :13:48.
To create good jobs, to create opportunity and make it possible for | :13:49. | :13:51.
every young person to go to college or get the skills you need for the | :13:52. | :13:57.
jobs of the future. Let us talk about what really matters. Here is | :13:58. | :14:01.
my promise to you. I will close my campaign the way I began my career, | :14:02. | :14:05.
and the way I will serve as your president should be you give me that | :14:06. | :14:11.
great honour. It will be focused on opportunities for kids and fairness | :14:12. | :14:15.
for families. Next week I will go to Philadelphia to talk about | :14:16. | :14:18.
challenges facing our young people, in Florida to focus on building an | :14:19. | :14:23.
economy that welcomes everyone's contributions, including people with | :14:24. | :14:27.
disabilities, then I will be back here in North Carolina to meet with | :14:28. | :14:32.
more working families, from now until November eight, everywhere I | :14:33. | :14:37.
go, I'm going to talk about my ideas for our country. My campaign has | :14:38. | :14:46.
rolled out detailed plans in 38 different policy areas, yes, | :14:47. | :14:50.
somebody actually counted everything from reining in a Wall Street to | :14:51. | :14:55.
creating good paying jobs to supporting people with autism. You | :14:56. | :14:58.
see, I have this old-fashioned notion that if you are running for | :14:59. | :15:02.
president, you should say what you plan to do, how you will get it done | :15:03. | :15:14.
and how you're going to pay for it. You could read it all on my website, | :15:15. | :15:19.
Hillary Clinton .com. We've even put it in a new book called Stronger | :15:20. | :15:29.
Together. Get a copy, because it tells you everything Tim Cain and I | :15:30. | :15:34.
intend to do. Like a lot of women, I have a tendency to over prepare. I | :15:35. | :15:39.
sweat the details, whether we are talking about the exact level of | :15:40. | :15:44.
lead in the water in Flint, or have a North Carolina kids are in early | :15:45. | :15:48.
enrichment programmes or the precise interest rate on your student loan, | :15:49. | :15:56.
right down to the decimal. Because it is not a detail if it is your | :15:57. | :16:04.
kid. Is not the detail that is your family, is a big deal. And it should | :16:05. | :16:15.
be a big deal to your president. Now, I confess, I will never be the | :16:16. | :16:19.
show and my opponent is, and that's OK with me. -- the show man. Look at | :16:20. | :16:29.
the show he put on today. But I am going to deliver for you and your | :16:30. | :16:34.
family just like I did for Sarah, all those years ago, with the | :16:35. | :16:38.
children's health insurance programme by gave her the chance to | :16:39. | :16:41.
be the extraordinary young woman she is. And I'll tell you something | :16:42. | :16:49.
else. People accuse me of all kind of things, you've probably seen | :16:50. | :16:56.
that. But nobody ever accuses me of quitting. And I will never give up, | :16:57. | :17:01.
I will never walk away, no matter how tough the going gets. I'm | :17:02. | :17:08.
actually asking Americans to hold me accountable for my ideas and hold my | :17:09. | :17:18.
opponent accountable for his. We don't need a president who says the | :17:19. | :17:23.
minimum wage is too high, we need a president who knows that Americans | :17:24. | :17:29.
deserve a raise to get to where they need. We do not need a president who | :17:30. | :17:35.
wants to take away people's health coverage, we need a president who | :17:36. | :17:39.
wants everyone to have quality, affordable health care. And we don't | :17:40. | :17:46.
need a president apparently things only married people deserve paid | :17:47. | :17:50.
leave and only mothers ever stay at home the kids. We don't need someone | :17:51. | :18:00.
who rushes out a half baked plan, just weeks before an election after | :18:01. | :18:06.
decades of ignoring or putting down working mothers. We need a president | :18:07. | :18:11.
who has spent years fighting for these issues and has a plan to | :18:12. | :18:15.
support all families in all their various shapes. Ask yourself, which | :18:16. | :18:20.
candidate you can count on to be on your side, respect your family, | :18:21. | :18:26.
stand up and fight for you and your kids. CROWD CHEERS. | :18:27. | :18:41.
That is who you should vote for November the 8th, because as | :18:42. | :18:47.
Michelle Obama said in her fabulous speech at the Democratic convention, | :18:48. | :18:59.
when we go to the polls this November, the real choice is between | :19:00. | :19:04.
Democrat or Republican, it is about who will have the power to shape our | :19:05. | :19:09.
children for the next four years of their lives. It is also about the | :19:10. | :19:15.
kind of country we want to be and what they want to leave behind for | :19:16. | :19:22.
future generations. People have to decide, are we going to make our | :19:23. | :19:26.
economy work for everyone, or just those at the top. Are we going to | :19:27. | :19:31.
bring people together or pit Americans against each other and rip | :19:32. | :19:35.
our country apart? Are we going to work with our allies to keep us | :19:36. | :19:40.
safe, or are we going to put a loose cannon in charge who would rest | :19:41. | :19:48.
everything generations have worked hard to build. Now, I have a lot of | :19:49. | :19:52.
confidence in the American people and in our country. My opponent | :19:53. | :19:56.
keeps running us down at Saint we are weak, disasters, and | :19:57. | :20:00.
embarrassments. Every time he says things like that, I think about | :20:01. | :20:04.
Janel and her strength in the face cancer. Or Martha and Sarah in the | :20:05. | :20:09.
face of their health challenges and that little boy in Flint who gets up | :20:10. | :20:14.
every day and goes to school even though he can't drink the water. | :20:15. | :20:20.
See, my opponent has America all wrong. There's nothing we can't do | :20:21. | :20:27.
when we come together as one nation, set big goals and pursue them. And | :20:28. | :20:38.
the American dream, it is big enough for everyone to share in its | :20:39. | :20:43.
promise. So if you believe the minimum wage should be a living | :20:44. | :20:46.
wage, that no one who works full-time should not raise their | :20:47. | :20:50.
family in poverty, join us. If you believe every man, woman and child | :20:51. | :20:54.
in America have the right to affordable health care and women | :20:55. | :20:58.
should be free to make our own health decisions, join us. If you | :20:59. | :21:10.
believe you are -- you're working mother, wife, sister or daughter | :21:11. | :21:18.
deserves equal pay, then join us. Get involved in these last 55 days. | :21:19. | :21:30.
Go to my website or text Joy to 24 746. We need volunteers here in | :21:31. | :21:34.
North Carolina and we can't do this without you. And remember, the | :21:35. | :21:37.
presidential race is not the only one this fall. We have a lot of | :21:38. | :21:45.
important state-wide races so let us come together and send Deborah Ross | :21:46. | :21:51.
to represent people in the Senate. Starting on October 20, you can | :21:52. | :21:56.
register and vote early at the same time. At any one stop early voting | :21:57. | :22:03.
site in your county. The heat is on. Spread the word. Tell your friends, | :22:04. | :22:09.
family, neighbours if you share our vision for America's future. If you | :22:10. | :22:14.
do, come and help us shape it, we don't have a minutes to lose. We | :22:15. | :22:18.
have some of the blessings, now it is our job to deliver on those and | :22:19. | :22:20.
to make sure... Is the Outside Source. Bringing you | :22:21. | :22:23.
Hillary Clinton was like -- speech. Let that be the message. Let that be | :22:24. | :22:56.
the mission. Fight for you, children, families. Let's make | :22:57. | :22:58.
America all that it should be. God bless. | :22:59. | :23:19.
Hillary Clinton, back on the campaign trail. She knew that she | :23:20. | :23:30.
was going to be under scrutiny, after nearly collapsing at the 9/11 | :23:31. | :23:39.
event on Sunday. So much speculation about her health. She had to show | :23:40. | :23:45.
that she is capable of continuing the campaign, potentially being a | :23:46. | :23:53.
future president, that speech about 20 minutes long. Seems to be well | :23:54. | :24:03.
again. We can go to Washington. First of all... She knew that she | :24:04. | :24:11.
had to give the speech of her campaign? And had to look and sound | :24:12. | :24:22.
well. Well groomed. But despite that, I think she managed to give | :24:23. | :24:30.
the impression of somebody recovering, handled it well at the | :24:31. | :24:33.
top of the speech, that is going to have solicited some sympathy, | :24:34. | :24:43.
speaking about pneumonia, spending time at home with her sweet dogs! | :24:44. | :24:52.
Dog lovers will like that! And also, talking about how lucky it made her | :24:53. | :24:57.
feel, taking time off, because she had been sick. As she said that so | :24:58. | :25:05.
many millions of Americans cannot do that, because they do not have | :25:06. | :25:14.
health care, or worried they could get fired. The personal story, | :25:15. | :25:23.
coming round to the larger ambitions, the plight of Americans. | :25:24. | :25:28.
How much do you think that Hillary Clinton campaign have learned, about | :25:29. | :25:37.
giving out more information? It is such a good question. I was thinking | :25:38. | :25:41.
before this, this would have been such a good moment for Hillary | :25:42. | :25:52.
Clinton to come out, and advocate full disclosure. Possibly disclosing | :25:53. | :26:00.
medical records, she has under two months until the election, and one | :26:01. | :26:05.
of the biggest electoral stumbling blocks, some people do not trust | :26:06. | :26:12.
her. They do not think that she has been transparent. They think she has | :26:13. | :26:23.
a hidden agenda. This would have been a great day, to say she handled | :26:24. | :26:28.
it badly, everything about my medical records, every exam that you | :26:29. | :26:34.
could want. I think that could have been a turning point. Transparency | :26:35. | :26:40.
has been a problem. But they have not done that. She actually referred | :26:41. | :26:51.
in that speech to Donald Trump, the showman she called him, going on | :26:52. | :26:58.
television and producing thin medical records. Not substantial. I | :26:59. | :27:06.
think that she could have used this to her advantage, but the need for | :27:07. | :27:12.
privacy, control, and an element of secrecy, it is almost impossible for | :27:13. | :27:17.
her. You mentioned, Donald Trump going on this talk show. Weekend | :27:18. | :27:27.
give you what he said. 6'3. 236 pounds. I am thinking your BMI is | :27:28. | :27:40.
high? Probably close to high? Yes. How doctors given you a hard time? I | :27:41. | :27:47.
think that I could lose some weight. I have always been this way. But one | :27:48. | :27:57.
thing, I would like to lose weight. It is tough because of how I live. I | :27:58. | :28:08.
would like to drop 15, 20 pounds. Do you think that appearance has got | :28:09. | :28:12.
the reaction that the Donald, campaign had hoped for? Generally | :28:13. | :28:25.
speaking, medical records, are big, fat documents with every blood test, | :28:26. | :28:32.
and possible illness. This was thin. It was good television. He said, | :28:33. | :28:39.
shall I release them? The host said yes. He has been the master of TV. | :28:40. | :28:52.
Obviously, obesity is a problem at America, not many people are going | :28:53. | :28:55.
to give sympathy for that, he also has lower cholesterol drugs, but | :28:56. | :29:04.
nothing staggering. Politically, it was pretty neutral. And after these | :29:05. | :29:14.
strange few days, where are we? Polls so tight? Polls are | :29:15. | :29:24.
tightening! We should be looking at how they have been moving. We have | :29:25. | :29:32.
had a series this week, showing Donald Trump nationally, and some of | :29:33. | :29:38.
the critical states, Ohio and Florida, overtaking Hillary Clinton, | :29:39. | :29:48.
the momentum seems to be in Donald Trump's favour. Hillary Clinton has | :29:49. | :29:56.
had a bad few weeks, with emails and health issues, Donald Trump has been | :29:57. | :30:04.
sticking to autocue. He has not said anything controversial over the last | :30:05. | :30:08.
couple of weeks. I think we seen that, with these numbers. -- are | :30:09. | :30:20.
seeing that. Aid not reaching the places it is needed in Syria. We | :30:21. | :30:29.
tend take a look at this. UN aid officials have told the BBC a convoy | :30:30. | :30:33.
of 20 trucks still waiting for clearance. Hundreds of thousands of | :30:34. | :30:38.
people have been under siege. The eastern part of the city, held by | :30:39. | :30:45.
rebels, some reports that both of the sides have withdrawn from a | :30:46. | :30:50.
highway, that can be used as a supply route for residents. The | :30:51. | :30:56.
United Nations Secretary General has been speaking about what has been | :30:57. | :31:03.
holding up the dollar 30 -- delivery of aid. All of the humanitarian | :31:04. | :31:13.
workers, ready to move. Waiting at the border. But unfortunately | :31:14. | :31:20.
shelling began. Even though we have had the reassurances from the Syrian | :31:21. | :31:25.
government, and armed groups, trucks cannot move. Who is doing the | :31:26. | :31:36.
shelling? It is not clear. I am urging them to stop as soon as | :31:37. | :31:44.
possible. When you have the ceasefire, it should be implemented | :31:45. | :31:52.
so that during the time the United Nations can deliver aid to hard to | :31:53. | :32:04.
reach areas. The Middle East editor still in a little. -- Aleppo. This | :32:05. | :32:19.
is the latest report. This is what cooking for 10,000 people looks | :32:20. | :32:29.
like. This kitchen, boiling hot, it has been organised by a Catholic | :32:30. | :32:39.
charity. It is given to some of the neediest people, in the government | :32:40. | :32:41.
controlled west. Bottle it is clearer that the needs in the west | :32:42. | :32:50.
are not as much as the east. They are going to put all of this into | :32:51. | :33:02.
containers, food prices 300% higher. That is deliberate from the | :33:03. | :33:05.
government, putting pressure on the population. The ease of the city | :33:06. | :33:17.
really needs the humanitarian aid. But if the ceasefire cannot deliver | :33:18. | :33:26.
that, it is going to be in trouble. If that does not happen, they could | :33:27. | :33:32.
think, what is the point of continuing? The United Nations want | :33:33. | :33:44.
to set up similar operations, but that is some of -- easier said than | :33:45. | :33:50.
done. The reason why we have been so short of food, because of the | :33:51. | :33:56.
deliberate tactics from the Syrian government. They have besieged the | :33:57. | :34:03.
area. Deliberately squeezing the population, putting pressure on the | :34:04. | :34:08.
people, and the armed groups. It is an ancient tactic, and it works. | :34:09. | :34:16.
Elsewhere... Groups of rebels have surrendered. I think that is what | :34:17. | :34:19.
they have been trying to do. Getting this humanitarian aid in, not just | :34:20. | :34:27.
needs, a question of politics. We also brought you news, of a leak of | :34:28. | :34:37.
details from high profile athletes. Wada tweeted this. Confirming an | :34:38. | :34:43.
attack from Russian espionage. Our sports correspondent has | :34:44. | :35:06.
outlined how many Apple leads have been involved. 29, eight different | :35:07. | :35:15.
countries, it includes Bradley Wiggins and Chris Froome. A lot of | :35:16. | :35:28.
this relates to TUEs. Therapeutic use exemption, substances that have | :35:29. | :35:33.
normally been banned, but special dispensation to use, these athletes | :35:34. | :35:39.
have done nothing wrong. The difference between what Russian | :35:40. | :35:43.
athletes have been accused of, and this, this was fully transparent? | :35:44. | :35:52.
Authorised by the authorities? In the past it has been abused, Lance | :35:53. | :36:01.
Armstrong, using TUEs to cover up actual doping. But these days, it is | :36:02. | :36:08.
difficult to get one of these TUEs. And what have some of the athletes | :36:09. | :36:18.
said about this? Almost a so what attitude. Chris Froome released a | :36:19. | :36:29.
statement. He said that he has openly discussed TUEs with the | :36:30. | :36:35.
media. In nine years, I have twice required a TUE for exasperated | :36:36. | :36:48.
asthma. And Petra Kvitova, releasing this is the same revolution, as | :36:49. | :36:56.
saying she has won Wimbledon. And the people behind this, it is | :36:57. | :37:01.
thought to the Russian hackers? But we do not know if they have any | :37:02. | :37:07.
connection with the state? Kremlin have obviously denied this, but Wada | :37:08. | :37:23.
said this is criminal activity. Team GB said to athletes you could be at | :37:24. | :37:31.
risk. The hacking group said they will keep going. Still to come, as | :37:32. | :37:36.
Russia approaches parliamentary elections, the BBC has found some of | :37:37. | :37:48.
President Putin's biggest fans. The Bank of England has said that the | :37:49. | :37:51.
short-term economic impact of Brexit is not as bad as was field. -- | :37:52. | :38:03.
feared. Our business editor explains why they are optimistic. We have had | :38:04. | :38:11.
strong employment figures, strong retail, people spending as the sun | :38:12. | :38:15.
has been shining, and people spending on housing. What has | :38:16. | :38:21.
happened, some significant changes since the referendum, supporting the | :38:22. | :38:25.
economy. The Bank of England cutting interest rates, after the | :38:26. | :38:34.
referendum, to 0.25%. Mortgages came down. We have not actually left the | :38:35. | :38:50.
EU yet, sterling down in value. Exports cheaper. This is Outside | :38:51. | :38:59.
Source. Hillary Clinton has got back on the campaign trail, making her | :39:00. | :39:06.
first public appearance at North Carolina, after falling ill at the | :39:07. | :39:14.
weekend. Emergency services at the Chinese south eastern province | :39:15. | :39:20.
clearing debris after the recent typhoon. It is the most powerful | :39:21. | :39:34.
storm, since 1949. An explosion on board a tourist boat off Bali has | :39:35. | :39:38.
killed two people, injured 13. Investigators have not yet | :39:39. | :39:41.
determined the cause, but it points towards an accident. China has | :39:42. | :39:47.
launched a second experimental space station. It blasted off from the | :39:48. | :39:57.
desert. The, two astronauts are going to go to the station, to carry | :39:58. | :40:04.
out research. China wants a manned station by 2022. Time for business. | :40:05. | :40:13.
Donald Trump has been at the New York economic club, hoping to win | :40:14. | :40:20.
over economic players. He has said that his policies would lead to a 4% | :40:21. | :40:27.
growth in the US economy. The country has not seen that for over a | :40:28. | :40:31.
decade, he said he is going to help the millions of Americans who have | :40:32. | :40:45.
been left on the sidelines. My plan will erase the truth that people | :40:46. | :40:52.
flourish under a minimum government burden, and tap into the potential | :40:53. | :41:01.
of workers. 92 million Americans on the sidelines, out of work, not part | :41:02. | :41:07.
of the economy. It is a silent nation of jobless Americans. How di | :41:08. | :41:18.
d the speech go down? Certainly, the audience appreciated some elements. | :41:19. | :41:25.
It was full of prominent people from the financial community. When he was | :41:26. | :41:30.
talking about cutting the corporate tax rate, from 40% to 15%, that came | :41:31. | :41:42.
with cheers. Also, cutting down on regulation, trying to make it easier | :41:43. | :41:48.
for people to do business. And cutting the difficulties, that arise | :41:49. | :41:53.
when filing taxes, loopholes, he wants to try to make that run | :41:54. | :42:00.
smoothly. That said, some of the things that Wall St may not like, | :42:01. | :42:09.
the protectionism rhetoric. And his economic ambitions, do figures add | :42:10. | :42:17.
up? It is always the conversation here. No matter who you speak to, | :42:18. | :42:26.
which candidate, no candidate is going to be able to put the plan as | :42:27. | :42:35.
is, through Congress. That is just not how it works here. It is perhaps | :42:36. | :42:40.
possible, that the plan presented by Donald Trump could potentially | :42:41. | :42:49.
result in 4% growth, but never become reality as is. It is just not | :42:50. | :42:55.
the nature of politics in the United States. Thank you. After decades of | :42:56. | :43:04.
delays, the British government has finally given the go-ahead for a new | :43:05. | :43:09.
nuclear power station. It is going to be on the Somerset coast, we can | :43:10. | :43:18.
show you exactly where. An expansion on the existing Hinkley Point | :43:19. | :43:30.
project. It is going to be built by EDF, but a third of the cost will be | :43:31. | :43:42.
met by China. It is a project on a huge deal, providing 60% of the | :43:43. | :43:48.
country's electricity. It is going to create 26,000 jobs. But it has | :43:49. | :43:56.
been on hold for weeks. Today, the Business Secretary confounded with | :43:57. | :44:03.
go-ahead, and new safeguards. This is going to allow the United Kingdom | :44:04. | :44:09.
government to take a consistent approach, of infrastructure, | :44:10. | :44:10.
including nuclear energy for the future. These changes mean that | :44:11. | :44:15.
while the native kingdom is going to remain one of the most open | :44:16. | :44:21.
economies, direct investment always works in the best interests. The | :44:22. | :44:30.
French energy giant EDF has agreed to fund the project, but Chinese | :44:31. | :44:35.
investors want to bring their own technology. Today, it announced new | :44:36. | :44:46.
safeguards, that would prevent the sale of the controlling stake | :44:47. | :44:50.
without prior agreement. And the government is going to take a | :44:51. | :44:56.
special share, about control and it is going to review the enterprise | :44:57. | :45:01.
act. Reviewing the scrutiny of foreign ownership. EDF welcomed the | :45:02. | :45:10.
news. I want to say how delighted I am, that the government has taken | :45:11. | :45:14.
this decision. It is good news for the customers, big boost for the UK, | :45:15. | :45:24.
great step in the fight against climate change. But some have said | :45:25. | :45:28.
that Hinkley Point may never even be built. Other nuclear plants are | :45:29. | :45:35.
years behind schedule, and some the one that consumers are going to pay | :45:36. | :45:44.
the price. EDF will receive a guaranteed amount from what Hinkley | :45:45. | :45:48.
Point would produce. And critics have said that they have got other | :45:49. | :45:57.
avenues, wind power, rather than outdated technology. What we need to | :45:58. | :46:04.
be doing, investing in renewables, wind, already cheaper than Hinkley | :46:05. | :46:11.
Point, investing in solar, and that together with batteries. They could | :46:12. | :46:14.
be getting revenues, as well as bills. The government intervention | :46:15. | :46:20.
has raised some eyebrows, but this is going to provide a huge boost to | :46:21. | :46:27.
the economy of south west England, and Britain entering a new nuclear | :46:28. | :46:35.
era. We started the programme with Hillary Clinton. She has returned to | :46:36. | :46:42.
the campaign trail. We can bring you some of what she said. As you may | :46:43. | :46:55.
know... I recently had a cough that turned out to be pneumonia. I tried | :46:56. | :47:01.
to power through. But even I realised that a few days of rest | :47:02. | :47:11.
would do me good. I am not good at taking it easy, even under normal | :47:12. | :47:20.
circumstances, but with two months until election day... Sitting at | :47:21. | :47:23.
home was the last place I wanted to be! But it turns out, having a few | :47:24. | :47:34.
days to myself was a gift. I was talking to some old friends, spent | :47:35. | :47:42.
time with our sweet dogs, the campaign trail does not encourage | :47:43. | :47:49.
reflection, it is important to sit with your thoughts and that has | :47:50. | :47:53.
helped me reconnect with what this campaign is about. That was Hillary | :47:54. | :48:01.
Clinton, speaking shortly from North Carolina. More to come, the weather | :48:02. | :48:04.
next. Good evening. This week has already | :48:05. | :48:26.
brought us the most powerful typhoon, getting close to Taiwan, | :48:27. | :48:33.
south-east China, and the next typhoon is also going | :48:34. | :48:35. |
