can get all the details on that right here in half an hour.

:00:00.:00:11.

Hello, I'm Ros Atkins, this is Outside Source.

:00:12.:00:13.

I'm not sure any of us have seen a presidential debate

:00:14.:00:16.

What you all saw and heard on Friday was Donald talking about women.

:00:17.:00:20.

If I win, I am going to instruct my Attorney General to get a special

:00:21.:00:24.

prosecutor to look into your situation.

:00:25.:00:30.

Paul Ryan is one of the most senior Republicans, he says he'll no longer

:00:31.:00:34.

There have been protests in Yemen today, demanding an investigation

:00:35.:00:40.

into an attack on a funeral in a rebel area that killed

:00:41.:00:43.

We'll hear about the 13-year-old Indian girl who died

:00:44.:00:53.

after a religious fast, and how her parents

:00:54.:00:56.

BBC Asian Network will help us cover that story.

:00:57.:01:01.

And in the last hour or so, Tiger Woods has cancelled

:01:02.:01:04.

The fall-out continues from the bombing of a wake

:01:05.:01:27.

Saudi Arabia's coalition is being blamed by many.

:01:28.:01:39.

It's been attacking anti-government rebels for 18 months.

:01:40.:01:41.

Saudi Arabia hasn't acknowledged any involvement.

:01:42.:01:44.

It says it's investigating, though given how easy

:01:45.:01:45.

it is for the Saudis to track aircraft within in the coalition,

:01:46.:01:49.

it would take minutes not days to check if its planes were involved.

:01:50.:01:53.

Whether they were or not, it's choosing not

:01:54.:01:55.

This happened in a part of the capital Sanaa that's

:01:56.:02:01.

These are pictures of a protest outside the UN

:02:02.:02:06.

They don't want a Saudi investigation, they want

:02:07.:02:13.

I asked Karim Gohary from BBC Arabic what the chances are of that.

:02:14.:02:35.

The one that wants to conduct this investigation, it saying it will

:02:36.:02:40.

cooperate with the United States. Even the UK says it wants to send

:02:41.:02:44.

its lawyers and others to investigate this. Whether or not

:02:45.:02:49.

there will be an independent one, kind of difficult I think. As long

:02:50.:02:52.

as there's still a lot of backing for Saudi Arabia from Western

:02:53.:02:57.

allies, the US, the UK and other European countries, it seems

:02:58.:03:00.

unlikely that is going to happen quickly. What we know about the

:03:01.:03:05.

people who died? As far as we know, 140 dead, over 500 injured. The

:03:06.:03:11.

likelihood of their being military or security officials there,

:03:12.:03:17.

realistically, would be quite high. This was the father of the rebel

:03:18.:03:21.

appointed interior minister. So it's likely that there were high-ranking

:03:22.:03:26.

military officials in there. There are several tweets from people who

:03:27.:03:33.

have been talking about the whole situation in Yemen, who have

:03:34.:03:36.

actually put pictures who they say were amongst the victims of this. A

:03:37.:03:41.

lot of them are military people in military attire and stuff like that.

:03:42.:03:44.

Is there any other organisation or country who might have the ability

:03:45.:03:49.

to carry out an attack of this size in this part of Yemen? Given the

:03:50.:03:54.

fact that it's really the Saudi coalition that's been doing all of

:03:55.:03:59.

the air strikes in Yemen, a coalition that does not only include

:04:00.:04:05.

Saudi Arabia but at least six - nine other Arab countries, also the fact

:04:06.:04:10.

the US, UK, France are providing military support for that, it would

:04:11.:04:17.

seem quite unlikely that another country has done that. Saudi Arabia

:04:18.:04:20.

as you mentioned hasn't acknowledged out right that it did this. It said

:04:21.:04:24.

it would investigate. There's also been some stuff on social media

:04:25.:04:30.

saying it wasn't us, it was a Houthi plan. Unlikely another country would

:04:31.:04:34.

have done that. It's not the first time there's been a strike where the

:04:35.:04:37.

majority of the victims are civilians, but this one because it

:04:38.:04:44.

is 140 people, it is a funeral hall, is why it seems to have had such a

:04:45.:04:46.

strong reaction to it. We have journalists working in over

:04:47.:04:49.

25 languages in the BBC newsrooms. Doctors treating the King

:04:50.:04:56.

of Thailand say the state His 70-year reign makes him

:04:57.:04:58.

the world's longest-reigning monarch, but his health has been

:04:59.:05:01.

a concern for months now. Jonathon Head is the BBC's

:05:02.:05:04.

correspondent in Bangkok. Over the past five months we've been

:05:05.:05:17.

receiving occasional but regular bulletins on the health of King

:05:18.:05:27.

Bhumibol. Always carefully phrased but describing a recovery to a

:05:28.:05:32.

stable condition. Now we've received one describing his condition as

:05:33.:05:35.

unstable following dialysis treatment for his failing kidneys.

:05:36.:05:41.

His doctors have also requested he sees all official duties for the

:05:42.:05:45.

first time. Although in truth he has been more or less incapacitated

:05:46.:05:49.

since last year. So what do these statements tell us about an issue of

:05:50.:05:58.

profound importance to Thailand? The King 's health is certainly fragile,

:05:59.:06:02.

more so than at any time since he was hospitalised seven years ago.

:06:03.:06:06.

His kidneys aren't working properly, he's having trouble breathing and is

:06:07.:06:11.

accumulating fluid on the brain that has to be drained. For any

:06:12.:06:15.

88-year-old man, these are serious ailments. Let's talk about why

:06:16.:06:21.

that's so important for this country. In the 71 years since he

:06:22.:06:28.

came to the throne, King Bhumibol has presided over a restoration of

:06:29.:06:32.

the monarchy to become a kind of celestial heart of a political

:06:33.:06:38.

system in which politicians, business tycoons, military generals

:06:39.:06:40.

and senior bureaucrats all jostle for power, relying on trucks limited

:06:41.:06:48.

to the Palace to confirm their position in the hierarchy. King

:06:49.:06:52.

Bhumibol has played the role of the caring but detached monarch very

:06:53.:06:57.

well. Doubling in development projects, travelling extensively in

:06:58.:07:02.

the early years of his reign, even occasionally intervening at times of

:07:03.:07:07.

crisis. No one else in this country comes close to the immense stature

:07:08.:07:11.

that he has acquired. So the prospect of his death, and of an

:07:12.:07:18.

untested they're taking over is extremely unnerving for a country

:07:19.:07:23.

that's already suffered plenty of political conflict. That edginess is

:07:24.:07:28.

compounded by the severity of the laws that restrict any critical

:07:29.:07:33.

discussion of the monarchy or of the capabilities of the next King. Thais

:07:34.:07:42.

won't talk at all about what happens when the king dies, all we have are

:07:43.:07:48.

quiet rumours, whispered conversations, and lots of

:07:49.:07:49.

uncertainty. There is the extra complication that

:07:50.:07:57.

there are very, very strict rules on what can and can't be said about the

:07:58.:08:02.

king in Thailand. If you want to understand those laws there is a

:08:03.:08:05.

lengthy explanation available on the BBC News website.

:08:06.:08:09.

He's been out for months with injury problems.

:08:10.:08:23.

"I practiced the last several days in California,

:08:24.:08:27.

"but after a lot of hours, I knew I wasn't ready to compete

:08:28.:08:30.

"against the best golfers in the world.

:08:31.:08:31.

"This isn't what I wanted to happen, but I will continue

:08:32.:08:34.

"to strive to be able to play tournament golf.

:08:35.:08:36.

"I'm close, and I won't stop until I get there."

:08:37.:08:42.

He will not be playing in those tournaments he was scheduled to

:08:43.:08:44.

appear at. There are nine World Cup

:08:45.:08:49.

qualifying matches today, These two will be expected to top

:08:50.:08:51.

the group come next year. I guess this really matters for the

:08:52.:09:03.

Dutch because they didn't even get to the year rose earlier this year.

:09:04.:09:08.

They've blown hot and cold, both these teams, with a win and a draw.

:09:09.:09:13.

They both still sit top of their groups. Real heavyweights playing

:09:14.:09:16.

around Europe and World Cup qualifiers. The Portuguese 16-0, the

:09:17.:09:23.

Belgians won 6-0. This one is much tighter in Amsterdam. It looks as

:09:24.:09:29.

though Paul Pogba the Manchester United player, the world's costliest

:09:30.:09:35.

player, has actually settled it. A long-range strike. It did prove to

:09:36.:09:44.

be the winner. Paul Pogba has scored the winner for France, they go top

:09:45.:09:50.

of their group 1-0 to them. The Euro runners-up, of course.

:09:51.:09:56.

England's captain Wayne Rooney has been dropped for tomorrow's

:09:57.:09:58.

World Cup qualifier against Slovenia.

:09:59.:09:59.

Here's what he had to say about that.

:10:00.:10:03.

Of course you want to play. I understand and respect the manager's

:10:04.:10:13.

decision. And I'll support the players 100% and try and help the

:10:14.:10:17.

players get three points tomorrow. I'll be ready of course to come on

:10:18.:10:23.

from the bench if needed. Hopefully we can get three points. He's just

:10:24.:10:29.

been dropped by Manchester United in the last couple of weeks, what is

:10:30.:10:33.

the reason for this happening with England? Brave decision from Gareth

:10:34.:10:39.

Southgate. He's been only given for matches in charge. His second match

:10:40.:10:45.

in charge, he says that he made his mind up before that match against

:10:46.:10:49.

Malta when Wayne Rooney was pretty ineffective, dropping deep into

:10:50.:10:54.

midfield. Saying that the way Slovenia are set up, he doesn't

:10:55.:10:57.

think Rooney is right for the role. Here is a man, there he is, 117 caps

:10:58.:11:04.

for England, tops goal-scorer with 53 goals, has played in all manner

:11:05.:11:08.

of situations for England home and away, major tournaments. His

:11:09.:11:14.

effectively been told he's not as good as Jordan Henderson, Eric Dier,

:11:15.:11:19.

coming in to that midfield role. Is Gareth Southgate just arriving at

:11:20.:11:23.

the decision Jose Mourinho came up with about a month ago now but Wayne

:11:24.:11:30.

Rooney is not playing at the highest level any more, and he has better

:11:31.:11:40.

players at his disposal? Thank you. In a few minutes...

:11:41.:11:44.

I think that he delivered the punches where he needed

:11:45.:11:47.

It's fair to say Donal Trump hasn't had the best weekend.

:11:48.:11:52.

But the BBC has spoken to a group of female supporters who say

:11:53.:11:55.

Fuel prices look set to rise by as much 5p a litre

:11:56.:12:10.

by the end of the month, that's according to

:12:11.:12:13.

The continued weakness of the pound since the Brexit vote has pushed up

:12:14.:12:17.

Here's our business editor Simon Jack.

:12:18.:12:25.

The retail industry presented its post-Brexit stall today,

:12:26.:12:27.

as the biggest importer of goods in the UK, the sector

:12:28.:12:30.

is worried costs could rise when we leave the EU.

:12:31.:12:32.

As we import goods into this country, coming from the EU

:12:33.:12:35.

or from other countries where there are trade deals, those

:12:36.:12:39.

And if as part of the exit from the EU we have new tariffs,

:12:40.:12:45.

then that will put upward pressure on prices for consumers.

:12:46.:12:50.

Once outside, the UK might have to fall back on its membership

:12:51.:12:53.

of the World Trade Organisation, which comes with its own rule book.

:12:54.:13:20.

It's too soon to know exactly what, if any, tariffs will be imposed

:13:21.:13:23.

on imports coming from places like Liverpool.

:13:24.:13:26.

The WTO rules are not the Government's preferred

:13:27.:13:28.

option but they are of course a possibility.

:13:29.:13:31.

One thing seems certain, shoppers may have to get used higher

:13:32.:13:34.

prices, if only because of the fall in the value of the pound,

:13:35.:13:38.

which makes imports coming here from the US and from Europe

:13:39.:13:41.

Here in Birkenhead, traders and shoppers seem convinced the EU

:13:42.:13:46.

wouldn't want to make life more difficult.

:13:47.:13:51.

They export more to us than we buy off them.

:13:52.:13:56.

So therefore they are going to want to do the deals

:13:57.:14:01.

So if they want to put tariffs on our cars,

:14:02.:14:07.

We won't sell their flowers, we'll buy English flowers instead.

:14:08.:14:10.

I think it definitely wasn't made obvious to the public

:14:11.:14:13.

that the prices of daily things, or gifts etc would go up.

:14:14.:14:16.

But I think it should have been something everybody should have

:14:17.:14:19.

There is another cloud appearing in consumer skies.

:14:20.:14:26.

Petrol retailers warned today a 5p a litre hike in prices was imminent,

:14:27.:14:29.

Deal or no deal, prices look likely to rise.

:14:30.:14:34.

This is Outside Source live from the BBC newsroom.

:14:35.:14:49.

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have traded bitter accusations

:14:50.:14:52.

in their latest presidential debate, clashing on issues including

:14:53.:14:54.

Muslims, tax and Mr Trump's attitude to women.

:14:55.:14:58.

If you're outside of the UK, it's World News America next.

:14:59.:15:18.

Here in the UK, the News at Ten is next with a report on one

:15:19.:15:21.

of the bloodiest days in British industrial history.

:15:22.:15:23.

It happened in 1984 during a miners' strike in South Yorkshire.

:15:24.:15:26.

Now a former policeman has told the BBC that officers were briefed

:15:27.:15:29.

If you're outside of the UK, it's World News America next,

:15:30.:15:36.

they have the story of one man's pursuit to get people

:15:37.:15:39.

to view maps as art, and to not only use digital maps.

:15:40.:15:42.

Last week a 13-year-old Indian girl died after undertaking

:15:43.:15:47.

Now her parents are being investigated.

:15:48.:15:58.

This happened in Hyderabad in the south of India.

:15:59.:16:00.

Local media reports that the girl consumed only boiled

:16:01.:16:04.

And her parents say it was voluntary.

:16:05.:16:08.

And that it was in line with religion, Jainism.

:16:09.:16:16.

The Indian journalist Uma Sudhir has tweeted this newspaper ad inviting

:16:17.:16:20.

people to see the breaking of the fast.

:16:21.:16:25.

To get more on this story, I spoke with Athar Ahmad

:16:26.:16:28.

from the BBC Asian network, first off some details

:16:29.:16:30.

Between four and six million Jains live around the world,

:16:31.:16:37.

most of them are based in India where this happened.

:16:38.:16:41.

Fasting is a key component of the religion, and it's often done

:16:42.:16:44.

for prolonged periods such as in this case.

:16:45.:16:47.

Would it be normal for a girl this young to fast for this long?

:16:48.:16:52.

Well, a local Jain leader has come out and said women who are pregnant

:16:53.:16:56.

and those who are unwell shouldn't be fasting, but that children can

:16:57.:16:59.

fast depending on their own personal circumstances and conditions.

:17:00.:17:03.

So it's not unusual to see a child as young as 13 like this fast.

:17:04.:17:07.

Some local commentators suggested the family would gain a great deal

:17:08.:17:09.

by having a daughter fasting in this way.

:17:10.:17:13.

There has been lots of criticism on social media and Twitter,

:17:14.:17:16.

saying the parents were celebrating the fact that they had

:17:17.:17:18.

a child who was fasting, and that it could bring

:17:19.:17:21.

And that's been one of the major concerns, that this has been

:17:22.:17:26.

celebrated, and the parents encouraged her to do so.

:17:27.:17:29.

What are the parents being investigated for, exactly?

:17:30.:17:32.

It's being investigated and claimed that the parents may have

:17:33.:17:35.

forced the 13-year-old to undertake fasting.

:17:36.:17:37.

That's something they deny, they say she voluntarily decided

:17:38.:17:40.

They say on day 51 they said, stop fasting, no more, and she decided

:17:41.:17:46.

I was watching the pictures of her funeral, it was

:17:47.:17:51.

Once again, it was something that critics and people on Twitter

:17:52.:17:55.

are saying has been celebrated, a big deal has been made out of it,

:17:56.:17:59.

and there's real concerns that this may cause other cases like this

:18:00.:18:02.

Through our touch-screen we can access all of the information coming

:18:03.:18:21.

through the BBC newsroom. Whether its wire copy or websites. The

:18:22.:18:25.

latest stills to come in from the BBC newsroom and the latest social

:18:26.:18:29.

media. I can also pull up live video feeds. This is a peak television.

:18:30.:18:37.

This is just at the end of a Donald Trump rally in Ambridge,

:18:38.:18:41.

Pennsylvania. You can see the Republican presidential candidate.

:18:42.:18:47.

His distinctive haircut visible amongst the crowd. The Rolling

:18:48.:18:57.

Stones playing in the background, he's been addressing supporters and

:18:58.:19:00.

telling them he had fun at the second presidential debate. He said

:19:01.:19:07.

Hillary Clinton's performance was "Highly overrated", she said -- he

:19:08.:19:12.

said she had no defence for his attacks and all she could do was

:19:13.:19:16.

lie. That is a significant praise because if you saw Hillary Clinton

:19:17.:19:19.

flying back to New York after her debate in Missouri she went hard on

:19:20.:19:24.

the fact that she said Donald Trump had repeatedly not told the truth

:19:25.:19:27.

during that debate. He is pushing back on that and saying she was

:19:28.:19:34.

lying. He said to the crowd that he is fighting for them. He has just

:19:35.:19:41.

wrapped that up, the candidates will pity in rally after rally after

:19:42.:19:50.

rally in the next date is the 19th of October, that is the third

:19:51.:19:54.

presidential debate taking place in Las Vegas. A couple of other things

:19:55.:20:01.

to show you. This is the BBC's website where we can get all of the

:20:02.:20:07.

different coverage we are pulling together, whether it's video, text

:20:08.:20:11.

or radio. This is the BBC's poll of polls.

:20:12.:20:16.

Two major caveats, these are polls done before the video tape

:20:17.:20:18.

was released, and before that debate last night.

:20:19.:20:25.

But it's a useful reminder that this race is far from done,

:20:26.:20:33.

and substantial amounts of Americans still want to see

:20:34.:20:38.

I'm supporting Donald Trump because I believe in his vision.

:20:39.:20:54.

I feel like he really, really speaks to

:20:55.:20:56.

In regards to the tape, I think he absolutely

:20:57.:21:03.

TRUMP: Certainly I'm not proud of it, but this is locker room talk.

:21:04.:21:09.

I think that he delivered the punches that he needed

:21:10.:21:14.

TRUMP: Bill Clinton was abusive to women.

:21:15.:21:19.

Hillary Clinton attacked those same women.

:21:20.:21:22.

Oh my gosh, he's in full form tonight!

:21:23.:21:24.

She's like, OK, wait a minute, now let's change the subject.

:21:25.:21:31.

In our society we are all apologetic about everything.

:21:32.:21:35.

I mean, it is so nice to see somebody stand up for themselves.

:21:36.:21:38.

For me personally, what I loved was in Trump's debate style today

:21:39.:21:43.

there was a refinement to it that I've really been waiting for.

:21:44.:21:50.

Name one positive thing that you respect in one another.

:21:51.:21:57.

CLINTON: His children are incredibly able and devoted.

:21:58.:22:01.

And I think that says a lot about Donald.

:22:02.:22:04.

TRUMP: She doesn't quit, she doesn't give up.

:22:05.:22:06.

He talked directly about her, and I think that was excellent.

:22:07.:22:20.

I think that showed a lot of character of his as well.

:22:21.:22:24.

Because he did give credit where credit was due.

:22:25.:22:28.

I really felt like he was fighting for us.

:22:29.:22:31.

David watching on the BBC News Channel was watching a business

:22:32.:22:48.

coverage earlier and he said "I'm loving the spider on your camera!"

:22:49.:22:54.

That wasn't planned, I promise you but it worked pretty well. Thank you

:22:55.:22:55.

for watching.
