Fox News, FBI Director Comey did the right thing when he found new

evidence. He had no choice but to report it to the American Congress

where he had testified. The investigation was over... STUDIO: We

are pulling away from this live feed where the US Attorney General Jeff

Sessions has spent over two hours answering questions from senators

representing the Republicans and the Democrats. This is all to do with

the Senate intelligence committee's investigation into those allegations

that Russia interfered with the US election. Let's bring in with our

reporter live from Capitol Hill. I'm sure Donald Trump was watching most

of that if not all and he would have been delighted with how that went. I

think so. What we didn't get where any new explosive revelations, and

we certainly didn't get into the James Comey said this, I'm going to

contradict him because this is what actually happened. On the whole it

covered a lot of old ground, nothing really new was revealed, it also

gave Jeff Sessions a chance to defend his honour and his integrity.

He opened with his statement all guns blazing, saying that he found

any allegations that he colluded with Russia to hurt this country

appalling and detestable lies. He said while he may have recused

himself from the various investigations into Russian

meddling, he had not recused himself from defending his honour. He really

went into it very much a wronged man. Essentially he managed to

maintain that stance throughout his entire testimony. He opted out of

answering quite a few questions, either because he couldn't remember

or because he said it wasn't appropriate. That seemed to cause

disquiet among the Democrats. Yes, the Democrats are very unhappy about

that because that's what they want to know. They want to know what the

president said about various things, they want to get an idea of any

material they might be able to use against him. This is, to a certain

extent, politically motivated. There is a very serious ongoing

investigation into the extent of Russian interference into the

presidential election, and both parties, Democrats and Republicans,

support that investigation. There is a definite sense among Democrats

that they might find something on Donald Trump that could lead to his

impeachment. When we heard Jeff Sessions saying I'm sorry but I'm

not going to tell you what the president said, that is private and

not appropriate, of course they aren't pleased. Interestingly he

didn't cite executive privilege because he said that up to the

president. As far as he's concerned those conversations are confidential

and shouldn't be revealed in a public hearing. Explain to us where

committee goes from here, please. Having heard Jeff Sessions

testimony, and don't forget he is the highest ranking Trump

administration official we've heard from so far, they've got to get on

with the job of what they are supposed to be doing which is

investigating Russian meddling in the election. Thank you. Jane
