Tonight on Reporting Scotland: The latest census figures reveal that | :00:17. | :00:30.
most people living hearsay they feel Scottish only, with only one in five | :00:30. | :00:36.
saying British, too. IC Andy Murray as Scottish, not British. Also | :00:36. | :00:44.
tonight, Javaid Ali, a well-known paisley grosser viciously attacked | :00:44. | :00:48.
in his own shop. This man gets 15 years for killing him. Lights on at | :00:48. | :00:55.
Glasgow's biggest and newest entertainment venue. And an | :00:55. | :01:04.
Edinburgh derby. And I will have the forecast live from the heart of | :01:04. | :01:08.
Dumfriesshire where I have been exploring the forest on two wheels. | :01:09. | :01:11.
And the weekend weather outlook, too. Nearly two thirds of people in | :01:11. | :01:21.
Scotland identify themselves as Scottish only, according to results | :01:21. | :01:24.
from the latest census. With less than a year until the independence | :01:24. | :01:30.
referendum, the findings showed that fewer than one in five of the | :01:30. | :01:34.
population described themselves as both Scottish and British. There is | :01:34. | :01:43.
a census every ten years but the survey in 2011 had a new question - | :01:43. | :01:49.
what do you feel is your national identity? And with the referendum | :01:49. | :01:53.
less than a year away, the results have been eagerly anticipated. On | :01:53. | :01:57.
the form you could tick more than one box but 62% said they were | :01:57. | :02:02.
Scottish only, while a further 18% guide to themselves as Scottish and | :02:02. | :02:07.
British. Whoever we think we are, it is clear we are becoming a more | :02:07. | :02:13.
diverse society. People from ethnic minorities now make up 4% of the | :02:13. | :02:20.
population, up from 2% ten years earlier. The biggest group is | :02:20. | :02:25.
Asians, 3%, although Poles account for 2%. Glasgow has the most diverse | :02:25. | :02:32.
population, with 12% from ethnic minorities. Scotland's modern | :02:32. | :02:45.
society is diverse. News coming up at 8:15am... This first DJ has | :02:45. | :02:53.
noticed a change. There are almost 15,000 Asians in Glasgow, and the | :02:53. | :02:59.
station has increased its audience. Glasgow itself is a very nice place. | :02:59. | :03:05.
No matter where else I go, I always come back home. I feel Scottish, | :03:05. | :03:12.
very much. When I am watching tennis IC Andy Murray as Scottish, not | :03:12. | :03:16.
British. It is just your own recognition. I think everybody will | :03:16. | :03:19.
have their own feelings. It is not just an increasing Asian population | :03:19. | :03:26.
the census has revealed. The number of Polish people here has risen | :03:26. | :03:31.
dramatically. This time in the census we saw there were 55,000 | :03:31. | :03:35.
people in Scotland who said they were all in Poland, which made | :03:35. | :03:39.
Poland the most common country of birth outside of the UK. It was | :03:39. | :03:44.
number 18 back in 2001, so that is a big change. The number of Gaelic | :03:44. | :03:53.
speakers has fallen again. It is down. But there is encouragement at | :03:53. | :03:57.
schools like this in Edinburgh have helped the number of young people | :03:57. | :04:02.
speaking the language to rise. If you look at the history from 1981 to | :04:02. | :04:09.
1991, the decline was great. The numbers are now down to 2%. So that | :04:09. | :04:21.
is extremely good news for us. So it is to help policy for a change in | :04:21. | :04:26.
Scotland that these census information is vital, for planners | :04:26. | :04:29.
and Government, councils and health boards. There is an absolute welter | :04:29. | :04:34.
of information released today. They have reported married people are now | :04:34. | :04:39.
in the minority, just 45% of Scots being married. It is the lowest | :04:40. | :04:44.
figure ever recorded. And the way car ownership vary it is also | :04:44. | :04:51.
revealed. Almost all, 86%, of households in Aberdeenshire, have | :04:51. | :04:55.
access to a vehicle, but in Glasgow it is just 49%. Further figures, | :04:55. | :05:00.
breaking these statistics down even more, will be released later in the | :05:00. | :05:07.
year. A man has been jailed for 15 years for killing a shopkeeper in | :05:07. | :05:13.
Paisley last summer. Javaid Ali was stabbed and injured so severely he | :05:13. | :05:18.
died in hospital two weeks later. This is the man who left Javaid Ali | :05:18. | :05:24.
to bleed to death. 31 year Rob Lee Anderson was a heroin addict. Javaid | :05:24. | :05:30.
Ali was a popular shopkeeper who knew his customers. The assault | :05:30. | :05:34.
shocked his family. At the time, his son appealed to find his attackers. | :05:34. | :05:41.
He meant so much to us and it is heartbreaking. I cannot put into | :05:41. | :05:45.
words the suffering this has caused our family, and it will take a long | :05:45. | :05:49.
time for us to come to terms with it. Lee Anderson had gone to Mr | :05:49. | :05:53.
Ali's shop apparently to steal from him, something went wrong and he | :05:54. | :05:58.
stabbed Javaid Ali in the neck. There was no evidence of a struggle. | :05:58. | :06:04.
Anderson fled and fit ooh was left to dial 999 himself. He told the | :06:04. | :06:09.
operator he was bleeding badly. Customers arrived at the scene. One | :06:09. | :06:13.
saw Mr Ali with but coming out of his neck like a ferritin. He was | :06:13. | :06:18.
taken to hospital but died two weeks later. -- wrote out of his neck like | :06:18. | :06:27.
a Fountain. They did an operation but did not know whether he would | :06:27. | :06:33.
survive or not. Lee Anderson might not ever have been caught had he not | :06:33. | :06:37.
confessed to his mother, Margaret, that it was him. She told the court | :06:37. | :06:43.
she thought he was joking. It was only when the case featured on | :06:43. | :06:47.
Crimewatch that she contacted the programme. She said Lee dressed like | :06:47. | :06:51.
the man police were looking for and she wanted to eliminate him. She | :06:51. | :06:58.
went to the police after he confessed to his brother. It came | :06:58. | :07:01.
out in court that Lee Anderson had previously but been convicted of a | :07:01. | :07:10.
robbery and assault. The judge told Lee Anderson that Mr Ali had been a | :07:10. | :07:16.
popular and respected local figure, that had often shown his customers | :07:16. | :07:21.
at some kindness. He said his loss was grave, not only to his family, | :07:21. | :07:26.
but also to his local community that he served. He sentenced Lee Anderson | :07:26. | :07:34.
to 15 years in prison. Tonight, some justice for Javaid Ali's family. | :07:34. | :07:40.
Labour is challenging the First Mnister to back their proposed bill | :07:40. | :07:44.
which would prevent evictions where tenants have fallen into arrears as | :07:44. | :07:48.
a result of the so-called bedroom tax. Labour said it is a way of | :07:48. | :07:52.
reducing the impact of a policy they say is unfair and unworkable. But at | :07:52. | :07:58.
Holyrood Alex Salmond said all councils could follow the SNP's lead | :07:58. | :08:04.
and take that step now. Housing associations mourn the bill could be | :08:04. | :08:08.
damaging because evictions are sometimes necessary. Prosecutors in | :08:08. | :08:14.
Peru are objecting to the guilty pleas from two women caught trying | :08:14. | :08:17.
to smuggle cocaine out of Peru. Earlier this week, Melissa Reid from | :08:17. | :08:23.
known senior club -- from Lenzie near Lascaux, and her companion, | :08:23. | :08:31.
admitted to smuggling drugs. I have spoken to court officials here in | :08:31. | :08:34.
Lima and they tell me the hearing is still expected to go ahead, and they | :08:34. | :08:38.
do expect the judge to give a sentence at the end of this hearing. | :08:38. | :08:43.
The prosecution will obviously... Have made the objections and say | :08:43. | :08:47.
they believe the girls should be making a more complete confession, | :08:47. | :08:51.
as they have been describing it. He will have the chance to make his | :08:51. | :08:55.
case in the court room. The defence will also have their opportunity to | :08:55. | :09:00.
defend the two young women. They both face up to 15 years in prison. | :09:00. | :09:05.
That is the maximum sentence. They are hoping that the admission of | :09:05. | :09:09.
guilt will ring that sentence down. At the moment it is a question, | :09:09. | :09:13.
also, of logistics. These are usually held in private in very | :09:13. | :09:18.
small court rooms inside prisons. Court officials have told me they | :09:18. | :09:22.
are trying to find another court room which could accommodate all the | :09:22. | :09:28.
media. This is the case of two so-called 's meals which has | :09:28. | :09:30.
attracted unprecedented media attention. The former Labour MP Eric | :09:30. | :09:36.
Joyce has pleaded not guilty to breach of the peace and a wrist | :09:36. | :09:40.
distinct arrest at Edinburgh Airport in May. He entered the plea by | :09:40. | :09:44.
letter at the city's Sheriff Court. He is accused of shouting, swearing | :09:44. | :09:49.
and buttering offensive remarks are May the 19th. He stands trial next | :09:49. | :09:55.
year. Still to come: Scotland's greatest crime novelist moves from | :09:55. | :10:03.
the page to the stage. And the draw of the last eight of football's | :10:03. | :10:08.
League Cup throws up a big derby. And the plans to give rugby's | :10:08. | :10:17.
Heineken European Cup the boot. Clydesdale Bank has been fined | :10:17. | :10:22.
nearly £9 million by city regulators and will have to give thousands of | :10:22. | :10:24.
pounds to thousands of people after it took too much in monthly payments | :10:24. | :10:30.
from mortgage customers. The bank was trying to rectify a previous | :10:30. | :10:33.
error made by staff but officials say they were too concerned with | :10:33. | :10:39.
their own commercial interests. The Scottish fire board has voted to | :10:39. | :10:42.
reduce the number of control rooms across the country from eight to | :10:42. | :10:48.
three. It is a move to cut -- the move to cut the final number | :10:48. | :10:51.
22-macro was rejected. The Fire Brigades Union say its members are | :10:51. | :11:01.
angry. Firefighters at the scene of a blaze in the Aberdeenshire village | :11:01. | :11:07.
this morning. A 75 you roll man died. The house was well alight | :11:07. | :11:12.
before they arrived. They were dispatched by a control room in | :11:12. | :11:16.
Aberdeen which is now under threat. It is one of eight around the | :11:16. | :11:19.
country but following today's decision, only the one in Johnston | :11:19. | :11:25.
is secure. Two more will be reprieved, though they have not yet | :11:25. | :11:32.
been named. I am very angry and I think the proposals are irrational | :11:32. | :11:35.
and dangerous. The loss of local knowledge that will come about will | :11:35. | :11:42.
put people 's lives at risk. Are members are very angry. It is due | :11:42. | :11:45.
mainly to the shock of this announcement. Had they been | :11:45. | :11:50.
prospered -- had there been proper consultation we could have removed | :11:50. | :11:57.
such a shock but has generated such anger. The equivalent savings in | :11:57. | :12:03.
terms of firefighter numbers would see 162 posts cut. These proposals, | :12:03. | :12:07.
say management, protect front line services. I do not think we would | :12:07. | :12:14.
ever put the public in danger. If we look at these proposals and at any | :12:14. | :12:18.
point we think there is a danger, an increased risk to the public, we | :12:18. | :12:21.
would revise the proposals. Our intention is to make the public of | :12:21. | :12:27.
Scotland even safer, not put them in more danger. These firefighters will | :12:27. | :12:31.
go through the same process that Scottish ambulance colleagues did. | :12:31. | :12:35.
They have their control rooms merged several years ago. The process of | :12:35. | :12:40.
merging eight fire control centres into three could take several years | :12:40. | :12:44.
to complete. The battle for survival among the centres has only just | :12:44. | :12:50.
begun. Other stories from across Scotland this Thursday. | :12:50. | :12:53.
The Scottish Government is to start a trial ferry service between South | :12:53. | :12:57.
Uist and Mallaig. The route, axed in the 1990s, is a shorter crossing | :12:57. | :13:00.
than the current Lochboisdale to Oban sailing. The three-year trial | :13:00. | :13:04.
will run two days a week between November and April. | :13:04. | :13:08.
Air passengers travelling to and from Shetland are to get more seats | :13:08. | :13:13.
and bigger aircraft. The main carrier, Loganair, operates the | :13:13. | :13:15.
FlyBe services from Sumburgh Airport. The airline says seats are | :13:15. | :13:20.
difficult to book because of the large number of oil and gas workers | :13:20. | :13:25.
in the islands. The SNP have lost control of Argyll | :13:25. | :13:29.
and Bute Council to a coalition of Independent, Conservative and | :13:29. | :13:33.
Lib-Dem councillors. Former council leader Dick Walsh has been elected | :13:33. | :13:37.
to lead the new ruling group. It follows months of wrangling between | :13:37. | :13:40.
the council's political and independent groups. | :13:40. | :13:44.
The Save our Libraries Moray group have taken their first step towards | :13:45. | :13:47.
legal action against council plans to close seven libraries. Details of | :13:48. | :13:52.
their complaint have now been passed to advocates who will advise on | :13:53. | :13:56.
their chances of success in a judicial review. | :13:56. | :14:01.
Shark blood could be used to target breast cancer. Researchers believe | :14:01. | :14:05.
it has unique properties which could attack common forms of the cancer. | :14:05. | :14:09.
They've received £200,000 for a three-year study. Human antibodies | :14:09. | :14:20.
do not recognise human cancers because they are one of our own | :14:20. | :14:26.
selves, but antibodies from Sharp 's can do better. So they might be able | :14:26. | :14:30.
to target things like cancer cells. And there are more sports stories, | :14:30. | :14:34.
plus all the latest news, 24 hours a day on BBC Sport Scotland's website. | :14:34. | :14:40.
Scotland's most successful crime author is making his stage debut at | :14:40. | :14:45.
the theatre in Edinburgh. Ian Rankin has co-written a new | :14:45. | :14:48.
crime drama, but there's no sign of Rebus. Chief Superintendent Isabel | :14:48. | :15:02.
MacArthur is about to retire. You are still self obsessed I see, you | :15:02. | :15:13.
have not changed. White began --. A serial killer has spent 25 years in | :15:13. | :15:19.
jail. I haven't seen my wife or daughter in 25 years. I suppose I | :15:19. | :15:26.
don't blame them. He Sounds like familiar territory. He says it was a | :15:26. | :15:32.
challenge. There is a lot of contemporary crime on TV. People | :15:32. | :15:38.
don't do it for the stage, so the question that I was asked was why? I | :15:38. | :15:43.
thought we would have a go, that was the challenge. Look to the cat | :15:43. | :15:50.
dragged in. It is a new play that looks to unsettle the audience. What | :15:50. | :15:56.
we wanted to do was to keep people guessing, create doubt and create | :15:56. | :16:01.
psychological fear, rather than a horror story. So that you could | :16:01. | :16:06.
start to identify with these people as I think that is the great | :16:06. | :16:12.
opportunity of theatre. Haven't seen you for three years. It seems that | :16:12. | :16:16.
Ian Rankin has been won over by the stage. When you come to do something | :16:16. | :16:22.
in the theatre, it is part of a team. I think is quite enjoying that | :16:22. | :16:28.
side of it. The author is ticking next year off writing, but it is | :16:28. | :16:35.
likely that this will not be even Rankin's last trip to the theatre. | :16:35. | :16:43.
The lights have been switched on at Scotland's newest and biggest | :16:43. | :16:48.
entertainment venue. The Hydro, which has a capacity for 13,000 | :16:48. | :16:51.
people, will officially open on Monday with the first of four | :16:51. | :16:54.
concerts by Rod Stewart. And although its exterior is now a | :16:54. | :16:57.
familiar sight on the Glasgow skyline, today was the first chance | :16:57. | :17:00.
to see inside the venue. Our arts correspondent Pauline McLean was | :17:00. | :17:10.
there. It has taken shape slowly. A brand-new landmark on the Glasgow | :17:10. | :17:12.
skyline. This should really provide and deal with all of those issues. A | :17:12. | :17:17.
first chance to see in the side. The key things were making sure that | :17:17. | :17:21.
every seat has a fantastic view. They all face the stage, that led us | :17:21. | :17:26.
to the circular arrangement. We had then tried to optimise the visitor | :17:26. | :17:31.
experience from the way that the building is arranged functionally, | :17:31. | :17:34.
right down to the details so that every seat has been customised. It | :17:34. | :17:38.
has taken eight years and a fantastic view. They all face the | :17:38. | :17:40.
stage, that led us to the circular arrangement. We had then tried to | :17:40. | :17:42.
optimise the visitor experience from the way that the building is | :17:43. | :17:45.
arranged functionally, right down to the details so that every seat has | :17:45. | :17:47.
been customised. It has taken eight years postponed. With Rod Stewart | :17:48. | :17:55.
lined up to play the first of four concerts, they were determined to | :17:55. | :18:01.
make sure that it opened on time. We have audiences that want a | :18:01. | :18:05.
world-class venue, we have a lot of people that are committed to | :18:05. | :18:09.
purchasing tickets and are making arrangements. We did not want to let | :18:09. | :18:15.
them all the artists down. What was important for us was to hold to that | :18:15. | :18:19.
line and get open and start to bring in the best bands in the world. This | :18:19. | :18:31.
morning, Scott's and Admiral Fallow, Became Translation: The First To | :18:31. | :18:35.
Perform Them. ??yellow Other Acts Will Probably Fill It. I think | :18:35. | :18:43.
Fleetwood Mac are playing soon. It is good to have a purpose-built | :18:43. | :18:49.
venue. There are big venues in Glasgow, but I think this should be | :18:49. | :18:54.
a step up. Last night, the lights went on to signal that it is open | :18:54. | :18:59.
for business. Hopefully, that is music to the ears of fans across the | :18:59. | :19:03.
country. Now, it's time for all the latest | :19:03. | :19:09.
sport with David. Good evening. It'll be Hibs against Hearts for a | :19:09. | :19:13.
place in the last four of the League Cup. The capital clubs were drawn | :19:13. | :19:17.
against each other earlier in the quarterfinal draw. Let's have a | :19:17. | :19:21.
look. Elsewhere, Premiership leaders Inverness are at home to Dundee | :19:21. | :19:24.
United. After toppling Celtic, Morton now take on St Johnstone, | :19:24. | :19:27.
confirmation of the Edinburgh derby and Aberdeen travel to face | :19:27. | :19:30.
Motherwell. Chris McLaughlin has been getting reaction Scotland's | :19:30. | :19:33.
women will beat Bosnia at Motherwell's Fir Park tonight if | :19:33. | :19:36.
they play their normal game. Eight keys in the draw, what chance | :19:36. | :19:42.
of a quarterfinal derby? -- eight teams. Hearts almost did not make | :19:42. | :19:50.
it. They had to rely on this penalty. Who are the favourites? | :19:50. | :20:01.
Aberdeen, they put five past Falkirk thanks to a Scott Vernon hat strip. | :20:01. | :20:06.
Even the club's new boy is aware of the city's need for success. The | :20:06. | :20:14.
airport security and the taxi drivers of the city want silverware. | :20:14. | :20:20.
But we just have to play the games and will hope to get some | :20:20. | :20:24.
silverware. It will be tough against Motherwell who saw the Livingston | :20:24. | :20:29.
last night. No easy tie for Dundee United who progressed past Partick | :20:29. | :20:33.
and Inverness on weight. No Old Firm, so everyone has their eye on | :20:33. | :20:38.
the trophy. We all think we are in with a chance. The result on Tuesday | :20:39. | :20:42.
night makes everyone think it is their year. Who wants it most will | :20:43. | :20:49.
win it. The first trophy of the season is at stake and the battle to | :20:49. | :20:55.
win it is wide open. That's the view of national manager Anna Signeul. | :20:56. | :20:59.
It's Scotland's first home world cup qualifier of the campaign, following | :20:59. | :21:02.
the weekend win in the Faroe Islands. Only the group winners are | :21:02. | :21:07.
guaranteed to make the finals in Canada in 2015. And you can see the | :21:07. | :21:13.
game live on BBC Alba or listen to it on BBC Radio Scotland, 810mw. | :21:13. | :21:20.
The Scottish Rugby Union says the country's professional teams won't | :21:20. | :21:23.
be allowed to take part in the proposed new European Rugby | :21:23. | :21:27.
championship. The competition doesn't have the backing of the | :21:27. | :21:30.
game's governing body the International Rugby Board. | :21:30. | :21:35.
But French and English clubs say they'll start the competition next | :21:35. | :21:38.
season and have invited Glasgow and Edinburgh to join. Glasgow Warriors | :21:38. | :21:46.
leaving for Italy and their match against a zebra in the pro 12 | :21:46. | :21:53.
league. That is made up from -- of teams from various countries. Most | :21:53. | :21:58.
of the pro 12 teams automatically qualify to play in the Heineken Cup. | :21:58. | :22:06.
The Heineken Cup is a great competition. It involves Six Nations | :22:06. | :22:11.
and I think it is a great competition. I was involved in the | :22:11. | :22:20.
past. But now there is a plan for a breakaway European competition | :22:20. | :22:26.
called the rugby Champions Cup. That would effectively killed off the | :22:26. | :22:30.
Heineken Cup. They have invited 12 professional teams to join. Those | :22:30. | :22:36.
behind the plan say teams like Edinburgh and Glasgow face financial | :22:36. | :22:41.
ruin if they don't join. The Scottish Rugby union like its | :22:41. | :22:47.
counterparts oppose the new, -- on petition. European rugby is | :22:47. | :22:51.
fantastic. I am sure we will work something out. Will get past all of | :22:51. | :23:01.
the posturing. Glasgow, like Edinburgh, embarked on this | :23:01. | :23:08.
season's Heineken Cup adventure next month. It could be their last ever | :23:08. | :23:11.
campaign in the competition. That is all I have is. Let's have a look at | :23:11. | :23:15.
the weather. Good evening. We are in the heart of | :23:15. | :23:29.
Dumfriesshire. Right next door to the forest which I have been | :23:29. | :23:34.
exploring today. The best place in the UK is not the world to do so. | :23:34. | :23:39.
The world to do so. There are Motability in Dumfriesshire is spot | :23:39. | :23:44.
next to the forest. The economy here is not just about timber, it is | :23:44. | :23:48.
about tyres as well. This is one of the seven stains, world-class | :23:48. | :23:55.
mountain biking trails. They are keyed to the local economy, they | :23:55. | :23:59.
bring in 400,000 visitors per year with a spend of about £9 million. | :23:59. | :24:04.
80% of those visitors are out with South of Scotland, so it is a big | :24:04. | :24:10.
spend. we had been quoted as a mountain bike mecca. We have been | :24:10. | :24:18.
listed in the top to do. We have world-class facilities, we have the | :24:18. | :24:23.
best in the UK. It is free to use the trails and they... wow. This is | :24:23. | :24:33.
one of the more challenging downhill trails. It is fun. There are 400 | :24:33. | :24:39.
kilometres worth of trails right across the south of Scotland. That | :24:39. | :24:46.
was scarier than it looked. One of the only sport where it does not | :24:46. | :24:53.
matter what the weather is doing. When it rained tonight? Well it | :24:53. | :24:57.
should say dry for this evening. Let us look at the map from 7pm. There | :24:57. | :25:03.
will be outbreaks of rain in the south-west. They will edge | :25:03. | :25:06.
northwards towards Argyll. Quite patchy stuff. Across the far north, | :25:06. | :25:11.
it will be chilly. Across rural parts, down to two Celsius. Towns | :25:11. | :25:15.
and cities in the north, down to four or five. Ten or 11 sources in | :25:15. | :25:22.
the South. Tomorrow morning, it is a quite murky start to the day. It is | :25:22. | :25:27.
quite north # Cloudy up north. Forget the | :25:27. | :25:32.
brightness we saw this morning. We will continue to see patchy | :25:32. | :25:36.
outbreaks of rain. By mid-afternoon, four o'clock, we will have | :25:36. | :25:43.
temperatures close to average. We could see a fair amount of cloud, | :25:43. | :25:48.
particularly as parts of Argyll. Further north up towards Lewis and | :25:48. | :25:52.
Harris we will have some sunshine and towards Inverness, there would | :25:52. | :25:56.
be so bright spells. The further east and south they come, they could | :25:56. | :26:00.
be bright skies, but generally cloudy. For the rest of the | :26:00. | :26:04.
afternoon and overnight, it will stay largely dry, largely cloudy | :26:04. | :26:09.
over the country. Very little change. Let's look at the pressure | :26:09. | :26:12.
charts. The ridge of high pressure that we had to date bringing the | :26:12. | :26:18.
settled conditions retreats back towards Scandinavia and that will | :26:18. | :26:22.
let a weather front walk in across the North West. On Saturday, the | :26:22. | :26:26.
central and southern parts, it will be generally dry and cloudy. There | :26:26. | :26:30.
will be outbreaks of rain. Further south, temperatures up a notch. It | :26:30. | :26:35.
is a similar story as we head into Sunday. The rain should clear away | :26:35. | :26:39.
by the tail end of the day, so the Sunday it is generally dry and | :26:39. | :26:43.
cloudy. Temperatures up and maybe we will see 17 sources. It is not | :26:43. | :26:54.
looking too bad. Let me tell you that this village over my shoulder | :26:54. | :26:56.
in the distance, that holds the title for the shortest place name in | :26:56. | :27:01.
the UK, as it is called Ae. Now, a reminder of tonight's main news in | :27:01. | :27:05.
brief. Nearly two-thirds of people in Scotland identify themselves as | :27:05. | :27:08.
Scottish only, according to results from the latest census. With less | :27:08. | :27:11.
than a year until the independence referendum, the findings reveal that | :27:11. | :27:14.
fewer than one in five of the population described themselves as | :27:14. | :27:16.
both Scottish and British. Interpol has issued an international | :27:16. | :27:19.
wanted persons alert for the British widow of one of the London 7/7 | :27:19. | :27:23.
bombers, Samantha Lewthwaite. It was issued at the request of Kenya just | :27:23. | :27:27.
two days after the end of the siege of the shopping mall in Nairobi in | :27:27. | :27:30.
which dozens of people were killed. The alert relates to a suspected | :27:30. | :27:34.
bomb plot two years ago. But there has been speculation that she took | :27:34. | :27:37.
part in the shopping mall attack. That is asked. I will back with the | :27:37. | :27:41.
headlines at 8pm and the late bulletin just after the 10pm news. I | :27:41. | :27:46.
hope you have a very good evening. Goodbye. | :27:46. | :27:47. |
