Tonight on Reporting Scotland: Warnings about ecstasy tablets after | :00:00. | :00:09.
a teenage girl dies. Regane MacColl collapsed in a | :00:10. | :00:13.
nightclub after taking this pill. Doctors say it's a growing problem. | :00:14. | :00:24.
When they come here, they have been quite poisoned. We are very | :00:25. | :00:26.
concerned. Four other people were also taken to hospital, after | :00:27. | :00:29.
apparently taking the same drug. Also on the programme: The future of | :00:30. | :00:32.
the Commonwealth Games. They're in Glasgow this year - but future Games | :00:33. | :00:36.
are struggling to find a country to host them. | :00:37. | :00:38.
How deer are threatening the survival of Scotland's native | :00:39. | :00:42.
woodlands. And after his success in Dubai, | :00:43. | :00:45.
Stephen Gallacher flies back into Scotland - eyeing the Ryder Cup in | :00:46. | :00:47.
Gleneagles. Good evening. Accident and emergency | :00:48. | :01:07.
units are seeing patients as young as 15 who've been taking ecstasy. | :01:08. | :01:12.
This has emerged after the death of a Clydebank teenager, who collapsed | :01:13. | :01:16.
at a nightclub at the weekend. Four other people were taken to hospital, | :01:17. | :01:19.
after apparently taking the drug. Our home affairs correspondent | :01:20. | :01:27.
Reevel Alderson reports. This is the nightclub where a | :01:28. | :01:31.
17-year-old girl collapsed at the weekend, apparently having taken an | :01:32. | :01:36.
ecstasy tablet. 17-year-old Regan McCall died in Glasgow Royal | :01:37. | :01:39.
Infirmary. The cause of her death is not yet known. A 19-year-old woman | :01:40. | :01:44.
from Clydebank has been arrested for alleged drug offences. Three men | :01:45. | :01:47.
were taken to this hospital in command after apparently having | :01:48. | :01:52.
taken similar ecstasy tablets. -- in Cil Marnoch. Doctors say there is a | :01:53. | :01:58.
worrying rise in the number of younger patients being admitted | :01:59. | :02:03.
after taking recreational drugs. Initially ecstasy was mainly through | :02:04. | :02:07.
the club drug scene with people going to concerts and raves and | :02:08. | :02:11.
nightclubs. They were mainly in their early 20s up to 30s. We're | :02:12. | :02:16.
seeing a shift down to young teens. The youngest we've seen is 15. When | :02:17. | :02:21.
they come here they've been quite poisoned and we've been very | :02:22. | :02:26.
concerned. One problem doctors here in the A unit face is that | :02:27. | :02:30.
patients often don't know what they have taken, which means it's | :02:31. | :02:33.
difficult for doctors to prescribe specific treatment for them. It's | :02:34. | :02:38.
thought Regane MacColl took these pills, Mortal Kombat, with the red | :02:39. | :02:42.
Dragon logo. But in the past fortnight, drugs agencies have | :02:43. | :02:45.
issued two separate warnings about ecstasy tablets. These pills were | :02:46. | :02:51.
found to contain a substance which can be highly toxic when taken with | :02:52. | :02:57.
alcohol. The message today is that you really cannot trust what you are | :02:58. | :03:01.
told about these substances. You cannot rely on the content being | :03:02. | :03:05.
what you think it will be and, quite rightly, you are gambling with your | :03:06. | :03:09.
life at times by taking them so please stay safe and don't do it. | :03:10. | :03:15.
Charities say the danger is evident from changes in young people's | :03:16. | :03:20.
drug-taking, including mixing several drugs together and taking | :03:21. | :03:24.
them with alcohol. We are seeing an increasing trend in the levels of | :03:25. | :03:31.
polydrug use. We estimate that about 80% of drug users are taking more | :03:32. | :03:36.
than one substance at a time. Analysis is continuing to discover | :03:37. | :03:40.
what caused Regane's death and the illness of the other users. | :03:41. | :03:43.
Cuts in housing benefit, which critics have dubbed the "bedroom | :03:44. | :03:46.
tax", are to be reversed in Scotland. The Scottish Government is | :03:47. | :03:49.
promising an additional ?15 million to cancel the effect of the policy. | :03:50. | :03:54.
But they say the cash can only be spent if the UK Government lifts a | :03:55. | :03:58.
legal cap on spending. Here's our political correspondent Glenn | :03:59. | :04:05.
Campbell. In Glasgow, Jane Grey is struggling | :04:06. | :04:09.
to find the money to make up for a cut in housing benefit imposed | :04:10. | :04:14.
because she has a spare bedroom. She hopes more cash from the Scottish | :04:15. | :04:17.
government will make it easier to get by. That will take a lot of | :04:18. | :04:23.
strain off me, not to pay the bill at all. If you don't pay, we'll put | :04:24. | :04:33.
you out the house, that is what they say. The bedroom tax affects an | :04:34. | :04:39.
estimated 76,000 Scottish households, which are home to around | :04:40. | :04:44.
12,000 children. 80% include an adult with a recognised disability. | :04:45. | :04:52.
?15 million from the Scottish government, together with existing | :04:53. | :04:55.
help, should be nobody in Scotland has to pay the bedroom tax in the | :04:56. | :05:01.
coming year. The snag is, the UK Department for Work and Pensions | :05:02. | :05:04.
hasn't set a cap on the amount the Scottish Government can spend on | :05:05. | :05:08.
discretionary housing payments. -- has set a cap. Isaiah written to the | :05:09. | :05:17.
DWP to ask them to lift that cap and provide us the resources to mitigate | :05:18. | :05:21.
the bedroom tax completely. It's not clear whether the UK government will | :05:22. | :05:25.
give permission. They say this year's cash help has not been fully | :05:26. | :05:30.
taken up. Even if the answer is no, the Labour Party says debt | :05:31. | :05:33.
cancellation is another way to offset the tax. It is already in | :05:34. | :05:37.
existence in one council and housing association. It has been checked by | :05:38. | :05:42.
lawyers and we're sure that there is a legal way to get round the DWP | :05:43. | :05:48.
cap. SNP ministers would prefer to top up discretionary housing | :05:49. | :05:54.
payments but say they'll look at all options to effectively cancel the | :05:55. | :06:00.
bedroom tax in Scotland. Our political editor, Brian Taylor, | :06:01. | :06:05.
joins me. What's the latest? Further talks this evening to try to resolve | :06:06. | :06:09.
the differences explained in that report. They're examining options | :06:10. | :06:13.
for what happens if the DWP say yes. And what happens if they say no | :06:14. | :06:20.
and if they don't respond to the terms suggested by the Scottish | :06:21. | :06:23.
Government. You are beginning to get the evidence of a real difference of | :06:24. | :06:27.
opinion between the two sites. Ian Craig believes there are other ways | :06:28. | :06:32.
of doing this and driving it forward. The Scottish Government | :06:33. | :06:36.
says its hands are tied if the DWP doesn't give it the go-ahead. | :06:37. | :06:40.
Benefits are controlled by Westminster and they cannot simply | :06:41. | :06:43.
spend what they like. They say if they try to find other ways, DWP | :06:44. | :06:48.
would just say that it was a way of getting round the rules and was not | :06:49. | :06:52.
legal. This is by no means a done deal. Politics inevitably at play in | :06:53. | :06:58.
all this. It's a reasonable point. These are serious, genuine | :06:59. | :07:02.
negotiations. The SNP and Labour believe there is a serious economic | :07:03. | :07:09.
problem caused by this. The policy has its defenders but you have the | :07:10. | :07:12.
Labour Party suggesting the SNP are not fully using the powers they have | :07:13. | :07:19.
at Holyrood and the SNP saying, if only we have the powers of | :07:20. | :07:21.
independence we would control benefits in Scotland ourselves and | :07:22. | :07:23.
the issue would not arise. You're watching Reporting Scotland | :07:24. | :07:26.
from the BBC. Still to come on tonight's programme: We're in Sochi | :07:27. | :07:30.
as the Scots in Team GB head east for the Winter Olympics. | :07:31. | :07:35.
In sport: A welcome home for Scotland's latest golfing hero, who | :07:36. | :07:38.
says Ryder Cup selection would be massive. | :07:39. | :07:41.
And up for the Cup! After the drama of penalties, Inverness Caley | :07:42. | :07:44.
Thistle reach their first major Cup Final. News of all of that and more | :07:45. | :07:47.
coming soon. Just 170 days to go before the | :07:48. | :07:59.
Commonwealth Games begin in Glasgow. But organisers are becoming | :08:00. | :08:01.
increasingly concerned about the future of the event - because, so | :08:02. | :08:05.
far, no-one has said they want to host the games in 2022. Expressions | :08:06. | :08:09.
of interest have to be in by the end of March, but so far none of the 70 | :08:10. | :08:13.
nations and territories have come forward. Here's our Commonwealth | :08:14. | :08:23.
Games reporter Chris McLaughlin. Where will you be when the world | :08:24. | :08:28.
comes to Scotland? Glasgow 2014 selling itself to the | :08:29. | :08:31.
world in a bid to attract big crowds and being athletes to the city for | :08:32. | :08:37.
the 20th commonwealth games. And it is so far proving popular, with most | :08:38. | :08:41.
of these venues ready and the majority of the tickets already | :08:42. | :08:45.
sold. But just how popular are the Games in general? In 2018, | :08:46. | :08:52.
Australia's Gold Coast will be the hosts but in 2022, the destination | :08:53. | :08:56.
of the games so far remains a mystery. So far no ex rations of | :08:57. | :09:01.
interest have been received but the man in charge of attracting them | :09:02. | :09:07.
remains up meat. If there are no bids, the games will finish in 2018. | :09:08. | :09:11.
But I don't think that will be the case. The games have been held every | :09:12. | :09:18.
four years since 1930 but, as they've grown, so has the price | :09:19. | :09:24.
target. And so, as the Queen's bat on makes its way around her 70 | :09:25. | :09:27.
nations and territories, the messages that future games could be | :09:28. | :09:31.
smaller, meaning fewer sports and, so, fewer athletes. As long as it | :09:32. | :09:40.
was well and some of the... It wasn't high profile sports that were | :09:41. | :09:45.
cut, because there are some sports that are more high profile than | :09:46. | :09:48.
others and some would be more damaging than others if they were | :09:49. | :09:52.
lost from the Games. So Glasgow is on but after that, attention turns | :09:53. | :09:56.
to making sure the Commonwealth Games have a future. | :09:57. | :09:59.
A deal's been reached which could help increase the number of supply | :10:00. | :10:02.
teachers. The agreement means teachers called in to do supply work | :10:03. | :10:06.
would get paid at a higher rate after two days' work instead of | :10:07. | :10:09.
five. Several councils and schools have had problems finding supply | :10:10. | :10:13.
teachers. The deal is part of a bigger package on pay and | :10:14. | :10:16.
conditions. Scotland's largest teachers' union, the EIS, will now | :10:17. | :10:19.
ballot its members on whether to accept the package, which also | :10:20. | :10:22.
includes 1% pay increases for all teachers this year and next. | :10:23. | :10:28.
Edinburgh City Council has scrapped the licensing of saunas and massage | :10:29. | :10:33.
parlours. The move marks a change in the city's long-standing tolerance | :10:34. | :10:36.
of the sex trade and it follows a number of police raids on premises. | :10:37. | :10:40.
The council says the current arrangement was no longer effective, | :10:41. | :10:44.
but it does not mean the saunas will close. Representatives of sex | :10:45. | :10:47.
workers have said the decision not to license saunas could put them | :10:48. | :10:52.
more at risk. Deer represent the biggest threat to | :10:53. | :10:55.
our native woodlands, according to the findings of a major new study | :10:56. | :10:58.
from Forestry Commission Scotland. It's reignited the debate on demands | :10:59. | :11:02.
for a cull to reduce the number of deer on Scotland's hills. Our | :11:03. | :11:04.
environment correspondent, David Miller, reports: Scotland's native | :11:05. | :11:15.
woodlands are you rich and diverse habitat, supporting and diverse | :11:16. | :11:17.
habitat, supporting an array of birds, plants and animals. | :11:18. | :11:23.
Read deer are at home here but overgrazing can threaten the | :11:24. | :11:28.
woodlands on which they depend, so what does this latest research tell | :11:29. | :11:33.
us about the scale of the threat? It shows that over the whole resource, | :11:34. | :11:39.
about a third is impacted quite highly and if that were to be | :11:40. | :11:42.
maintained into the future, it would stop the woodlands regenerating | :11:43. | :11:47.
successfully. The debate about the number of deer on Scotland's Hills | :11:48. | :11:50.
and the impact they have on our native woodland is deeply divisive, | :11:51. | :11:56.
with environmental organisations and conservationists on one side and | :11:57. | :12:01.
landowners and gamekeepers on the other. And the road ahead? Ministers | :12:02. | :12:09.
say that will involve balancing the needs of sporting estates which rely | :12:10. | :12:12.
on income from deer stalking with environmental concerns. We do value | :12:13. | :12:17.
the rural jobs that are provided by sporting estate but we have to look | :12:18. | :12:22.
after the environment with great sensitivity because we have | :12:23. | :12:25.
international obligations in place. We have a desire to protect a | :12:26. | :12:30.
protected sites. There are more than three quarters of a million deer in | :12:31. | :12:37.
Scotland but land managers argue the impact of our 2.5 million sheep is | :12:38. | :12:43.
often overlooked. Gamekeepers say there is a simple practical measure | :12:44. | :12:45.
which would protect native woodlands. The answer for us to this | :12:46. | :12:54.
is fencing. If you've got a plant that lives for 200 years, it needs | :12:55. | :13:00.
special protection for the first 15 years of its life. That protection | :13:01. | :13:07.
is a fence. The deer control debate will continue but we now have more | :13:08. | :13:11.
information than ever about the health of our woodlands and the | :13:12. | :13:19.
threat they face. A A look at some other stories from across Scotland | :13:20. | :13:20.
this Monday. And original, onshore fish farming | :13:21. | :13:31.
project is underway in Argyll. This scheme for breezing salmon in tanks | :13:32. | :13:37.
on land will initially employ 20 people. That will provide the | :13:38. | :13:47.
blueprint. Then, we hope to expand that to four times the size at | :13:48. | :14:09.
Machrihanish and then provide second and the processing. | :14:10. | :14:11.
More -- secondary -- more money is to be provided... | :14:12. | :14:24.
18 avalanche is where recorded over a 24-hour period over the weekend. | :14:25. | :14:30.
Heavy snowfalls and high winds have also increased the risks of | :14:31. | :14:38.
cornices. A World War I exhibition is going on | :14:39. | :14:41.
display in Aberdeen to commemorate the role of the Gordon Highlanders. | :14:42. | :14:52.
The great War claimed the life of over 28,000 soldiers. They were | :14:53. | :14:57.
involved in all the major actions from the outbreak of war right | :14:58. | :15:00.
through to the famous Christmas truce. There is a huge story to | :15:01. | :15:07.
tell. A singer from Stranraer has won the | :15:08. | :15:11.
BBC radio Scotland Young traditional user should award by 2014. Robin | :15:12. | :15:18.
Stapleton saw off five other finalists to take the prize. | :15:19. | :15:27.
How many artists does it take to change a light-bulb? Commuters in | :15:28. | :15:30.
Edinburgh City Centre might find out this evening thanks to a new art | :15:31. | :15:33.
installation that's transformed one of the capital's most famous | :15:34. | :15:36.
squares. Those behind the Field of Light project hope it will attract | :15:37. | :15:39.
thousands of visitors to St Andrew Square. Our reporter Steven Godden | :15:40. | :15:52.
is there for us this evening. This is one of the busiest parts of | :15:53. | :15:59.
Edinburgh city full set -- city centre. This Field of Light is made | :16:00. | :16:05.
up of around 9000 glass bulbs that sit on top of a clear plastic tube. | :16:06. | :16:11.
When you take a walk around here, you get a sense of the atmosphere | :16:12. | :16:15.
that it creates. When you look from above, you get a sense of this | :16:16. | :16:20.
scale. The inspiration for the project came in the Australian | :16:21. | :16:24.
outback more than 20 years ago. This is the first time it has been in | :16:25. | :16:27.
Scotland and the first time it has been staged in our city. The artist | :16:28. | :16:32.
says his aims are fairly straightforward. We want to make | :16:33. | :16:41.
people feel more optimistic about life. That is the aim of the | :16:42. | :16:48.
installation. It is not an intellectual piece of work, it is | :16:49. | :16:53.
purely about light and spirit and the more positive things in life. | :16:54. | :16:57.
Tonight is the first time the project has been eliminated and | :16:58. | :17:01.
already we have seen people out here with their camera phones. Edinburgh | :17:02. | :17:06.
City Council, who commissioned and funded the project, say they hope it | :17:07. | :17:13.
will bring people to this square. It will be here until the end of April. | :17:14. | :17:19.
Thank you. Scottish athletes will start making | :17:20. | :17:23.
their way to the Black Sea resort of Sochi this week where the Winter | :17:24. | :17:26.
Olympics start on Friday. Curling, speed skating and skiing could all | :17:27. | :17:29.
produce medals for Team GB which will be based between two sites - in | :17:30. | :17:33.
the mountains and on the coast. Our reporter Jackie O'Brien reports from | :17:34. | :17:36.
the mountain cluster, where Russians are working round the clock to | :17:37. | :17:48.
welcome the world. Scotland may be giving Sochi a run | :17:49. | :17:52.
for its money on the snow stakes this winter, but Olympic organisers | :17:53. | :17:55.
are confident that there will be no need to dig into the thousands of | :17:56. | :17:58.
tonnes they have been stockpiling here since last year. The country's | :17:59. | :18:02.
culture and traditions are also in plentiful supply, but local people | :18:03. | :18:05.
are keen to show off modern Russian too. We are very happy and we are | :18:06. | :18:09.
very proud that the Olympic Games are in Russia this year. We are | :18:10. | :18:17.
happy that we can show our culture. We are happy that so many people in | :18:18. | :18:20.
other countries can see our games, can see our nation, can see how | :18:21. | :18:30.
beautiful our country is. With just under a third of Scots | :18:31. | :18:34.
making up Team GB, Scottish athletes are hoping to make a big impression | :18:35. | :18:38.
in Russia. With curling and skiing the main medal contenders. We have | :18:39. | :18:44.
got a really strong team this year. Just over 50 athletes are coming. We | :18:45. | :18:49.
are hoping for at least three medals, but it could be more than | :18:50. | :18:52.
that. We have had some exceptional results across the board recently. | :18:53. | :19:11.
Many Scots including curling umpire Alan Stanford from Nairn have been | :19:12. | :19:14.
chosen to officiate here are and areundeterred by recent terrorist | :19:15. | :19:16.
threats to target the Winter games. I am sure they will have every | :19:17. | :19:20.
security measure in place that they can to minimise the risk of the | :19:21. | :19:24.
games having any issues or problems. I look forward to enjoying the games | :19:25. | :19:28.
and I hope it is remembered for all the right reasons. | :19:29. | :19:30.
But Sochi does not seem ready to receive the thousands expected here | :19:31. | :19:33.
this week with workers grafting day and night to get the purpose-built | :19:34. | :19:36.
resort fully open for Olympic business. Up in these breathtaking | :19:37. | :19:39.
mountains, competition venues, hotels and even a shopping centre | :19:40. | :19:47.
remain unfinished. Russia is in a race against time if it is to make | :19:48. | :19:51.
the most expensive Winter games ever a success. | :19:52. | :19:59.
Here's Rhona now with the sport. Good evening. Scotland's top-ranked | :20:00. | :20:08.
golfer says it would be massive for the country to have a home-based | :20:09. | :20:12.
player in this year's Ryder Cup at Gleneagles. Doubly special for | :20:13. | :20:14.
Stephen Gallacher, as his uncle Bernard played for, and captained, | :20:15. | :20:17.
the European team. Kheredine Idessane reports on Gallacher's | :20:18. | :20:19.
homecoming after retaining the Dubai Desert Classic and his optimism for | :20:20. | :20:22.
the year ahead. Back on home soil after his best | :20:23. | :20:24.
ever victory. Friends and family with a warm welcome following a win | :20:25. | :20:29.
in Dubai which could change his career. An historic day. He is the | :20:30. | :20:39.
only man ever to retain the Desert classic title, the first Scot | :20:40. | :20:43.
successfully to defend the European tour event in 14 years and he can | :20:44. | :20:48.
now play and all four majors this season, including the Masters in | :20:49. | :20:53.
April. That has been a dream of mine since I was a child. I have always | :20:54. | :20:59.
wanted to play it. It is the only major I have not played in. | :21:00. | :21:05.
Augusta, I hold it in high esteem. It is one of the pinnacles of the | :21:06. | :21:10.
golfing calendar. In the year Scotland hosts the Ryder Cup, his | :21:11. | :21:13.
good form could scarcely be better timed. As a nation, we want a Scot | :21:14. | :21:21.
in the team. I hope I can do my best. It has been in my family. My | :21:22. | :21:26.
uncle played eight times and captained it three times. It is | :21:27. | :21:33.
seven months away, it is a long-term goal so I do not focus on it too | :21:34. | :21:38.
much just now. What he can focus on is another year in possession of | :21:39. | :21:42.
this fine specimen and on playing the kind of golf which will push | :21:43. | :21:45.
them further up the rankings and into Europe's 12 man Ryder Cup team. | :21:46. | :21:54.
Dundee have announced that manager John Brown has left the club. They | :21:55. | :21:58.
released a statement saying the club agreed with John's expressed view | :21:59. | :22:01.
that, after recent results, this is the best way forward. Dundee expect | :22:02. | :22:04.
to move quickly to appoint a new manager. | :22:05. | :22:06.
The Inverness Caley Thistle manager John Hughes says everyone from the | :22:07. | :22:09.
club chairman to the kitman deserve their big day at the League Cup | :22:10. | :22:12.
final. They'll face Aberdeen in their first major final in a 20 year | :22:13. | :22:16.
history. As our senior football reporter Alasdair Lamont reports, | :22:17. | :22:19.
their place was secured in the most dramatic of circumstances. | :22:20. | :22:26.
Ross Draper has sent Caley Thistle into the Scottish League Cup final. | :22:27. | :22:36.
A penalty shoot out triumph, but that wasn't even half the story. | :22:37. | :22:39.
There was little sign of the drama to come when the Greg Tansey | :22:40. | :22:44.
unleashed this beauty. But then the game turned on its head. Gary Warren | :22:45. | :22:50.
was sent off. Caley Thistle are down to ten men. Jamie Hamill equalised. | :22:51. | :23:01.
And quickly got another. Already a goal down, and a man down, Josh | :23:02. | :23:08.
Meekings was sent off. Caley Thistle are appealing against this, but an | :23:09. | :23:13.
equaliser looked unlikely. Step forward Nick Ross. The nine men held | :23:14. | :23:18.
on to reach their first major final on penalties. | :23:19. | :23:24.
It is a massive thing for the club. The fans have not had a final to go | :23:25. | :23:28.
to. Absolutely delighted for everyone concerned. From the | :23:29. | :23:34.
chairman right down to the kit man. How has the news gone down? You see | :23:35. | :23:42.
a lot of Inverness tops now as opposed to Celtic and Rangers. | :23:43. | :23:51.
And what else is happening in Scottish sport? | :23:52. | :23:56.
After losing the league cup semifinal to Inverness Caley, wetter | :23:57. | :24:02.
news for Hearts fan today. -- better news. UBIG Have agreed to transfer | :24:03. | :24:12.
shares. Sean Maitland will miss the clash against England on Saturday. | :24:13. | :24:19.
He suffered concussion and a leg injury in the game against Ireland. | :24:20. | :24:28.
This is the moment Andy Murray edged Team GB to victory over the USA and | :24:29. | :24:35.
progressed to their first quarterfinal of the Davis Cup. It's | :24:36. | :24:48.
nice to play with those guys. It was two titles apiece for Kirsty | :24:49. | :25:02.
Gallacher and Imagen bank here -- Imogen Bankier in the badminton. | :25:03. | :25:15.
Thank you. Just time for a reminder that the next in our series of | :25:16. | :25:19.
referendum debates takes place on the Tuesday the 18th of February. | :25:20. | :25:30.
It's from Kelso with James Cook. If you want to apply to be in the | :25:31. | :25:32.
audience, please go to the BBC temperatures today were fairly mild, | :25:33. | :25:41.
but the strong wind it took the edge of those temperatures. Tonight, the | :25:42. | :25:46.
wind will ease for most of us. But there will be some rain in the mix. | :25:47. | :25:50.
This band of rain is moving north-east roads across the country. | :25:51. | :25:57.
It could fall as snow on the hills and some of the highest roads in the | :25:58. | :26:02.
Highlands. Hide it, skies cleared just enough to allow a touch of | :26:03. | :26:09.
ground frost. -- behind it. For Orkney and Shetland, driver most of | :26:10. | :26:18.
the night, but gale-force wind 's. That rain were clear the mainland | :26:19. | :26:23.

again, strong winds. Tomorrow, most of the country will be dry and | :26:35. | :26:37.
bright with decent spells of sunshine. There will be a scattering | :26:38. | :26:42.
of showers in the South and West, some of them heavy. Staying breezy | :26:43. | :26:48.
on the coast. For the rest of the afternoon towards evening, the | :26:49. | :26:55.
showers were fed in from the west. Most of the country will be driver | :26:56. | :27:00.
the first half but that -- most of the country will be dry for the | :27:01. | :27:06.
first half of the night. This area of low pressure will take charge on | :27:07. | :27:09.
Wednesday. We have an early warning of heavy rain for the North and | :27:10. | :27:17.
East. Potentially localised flooding. Strong to deal forced | :27:18. | :27:25.
wins, even severe gale force around the coastline. Thursday looking | :27:26. | :27:35.
cloudy and very windy. Showers and longer spells of rain. But improving | :27:36. | :27:43.
for Friday. Thank you. Now, a reminder of tonight's main | :27:44. | :27:45.
news. It's emerged that accident and | :27:46. | :27:48.
emergency units are seeing patients as young as 15, who've been taking | :27:49. | :27:51.
ecstasy. The revelation follows the death of Clydebank teenager, Regane | :27:52. | :27:54.
MacColl, who collapsed at a nightclub at the weekend. | :27:55. | :28:01.
And that is Reporting Scotland. I will be back with the headlines at | :28:02. | :28:04.
