Good evening. Smoking amongst young teenagers in Scotland is at its

lowest level since records began. A report, by ASH Scotland hailed the

drop in 13-year-old to 15-year-old smokers and said a reduction in the

rate of 16-year-olds to 24-year-olds who are lighting up was a welcome

result. Catriona Renton reports. The charity has produced a report into

smoking habits in the country. From 1996 to 2012 the percentage has

dropped, although slightly more girls than boys smoke as teenagers.

Those between 16 and 24 years old have fallen from 26% to 22%. Five

years ago we were really worried. Figures were all over the place and

not showing a decline. The good news is that smoking rates in that age

group are now beginning to decline. That is as a result of the real

commitment shown in Scotland to tackling tobacco. I tried it once. I

would never do it again. I smoked for nine years. 14 to 23. Why did

you quit? It is unhealthy. I started smoking socially when I was 17. One

fifth of Scots adults smoke, down from one third in 1999. Those who do

say that on average they have cut down from 15 to 13.5 per day. The

Scottish government says good progress has been made but they

cannot afford to be complacent. We believe that standardised packaging

would have a significant impact. It would reduce the number of young

people attracted in the first place. It will help us with an ambitious

target of making Scotland a smoke-free nation by 2034. Although

levels have fallen it is still associated with deprivation and the

gap between the richest and poorest of society has not reduced.

Police say they're treating a disturbance in Glasgow which left

two teenagers in hospital as an attempted murder and a serious

assault. The 19-year-old men were taken to hospital following the

incident in the Kinning Park area of Paisley Road West early this

morning. The police say they're following a positive line of

enquiry. The Roman Catholic chaplain of

Glasgow University has been appointed by the Pope as the new

Bishop of Paisley. 49-year-old Father John Keenan will become

Scotland's youngest bishop. The diocese has been vacant since 2012,

when Bishop Philip Tartaglia became Archbishop of Glasgow.

Rugby, and Scotland lost 20-0 to England in the Calcutta Cup at

Murrayfield. Captain Greig Laidlaw managed to hit the post with a

penalty - in almost exactly the same way as in last weekend's Six Nations

defeat to Ireland. Scotland's luck might have been out, but England won

comfortably. Football: Aberdeen came from behind

to shock Celtic and reach the quarterfinal of the Scottish cup.

Celtic took the lead with their first chance of the game, through

Anthony Stokes. But Aberdeen hit back with goals from Russell

Anderson and Peter Pawlett. Aberdeen hadn't won at Celtic Park since

2008. Here are all today's Scottish Cup results. Hibs lost at home to

Championship side Raith Rovers. But Saint Johnstone put four past

Forfar. Time for the weather outlook for

tonight and tomorrow. And Christopher is at the map. The

showers continue. Most across central and southern parts. In the

next few hours we will start to see clearer skies around Aberdeen,

Caithness, Sutherland. Showers are very frequent through the central

belt. Dry skies along the Solway coast in towards the Borders,

although it could well be chilly. Showers tomorrow, they would

continue to fall across Western and southern parts of the country. The

driest weather in the north-east, Aberdeen towards Inverness. But one

or two passing showers. Temperatures today, between seven and eight

Celsius. Looking towards Monday, fairly settled, one or two showers,

predominantly in the West. Dry and bright to the east.
