Good evening. Campaigners have staged a protest against plans for a

housing development near Culloden, the site of the last pitched battle

fought on British soil. Developers have been given permission to build

16 houses. The Scottish Government says the plans would not have an

adverse impact on the historic site. Gillian Sharpe reports.

Gathering at the battle field this afternoon to make themselves heard.

Protesters are angry that the developer has been given permission

to build homes on a Brownfield site just 400 metres away from the wider

boundary of the 1746 battle. We should be strong and stand tall and

say no. They fear that development could be the thin end of the wedge.

The people that died in this field, whether they were British or

Klansman, it is a sacred area to us all. It is our history and our

future. We should not be developing in this area. The National Trust for

Scotland has voiced 's concern. But the Scottish Government ruled it was

unlikely that the proposal would have any impact on the character and

ambience of the site. It adds that it values the battlefield site.

Police investigating a robbery at a bookmaker's shop in Ayrshire have

released an image of a man. William Hill in Beith was raided around 9pm

on the 19th of February. A man wearing a motorbike helmet and

carrying a weapon demanded money from staff.

A former chairman of Scottish Labour has announced he'll vote for

independence. Bob Thomson, a Labour member for more than 51 years,

declared his support for a YES vote, as the campaign reaches 200 days to

go. The new Battle of Bannockburn

Visitor Centre has opened to the public. The centre aims to provide

an interactive experience, making use of 3D technology to bring the

medieval battle to life. The 3D Robert the Bruce is based on the

iconic 1960s monument at the Bannockburn site. The centre has

opened ahead of the 700th anniversary of the battle in June

this year. We have 3-D technology that is marvellous. Full-size

warriors from the medieval period and characters, interactive

characters, that you can meet. Can you win the battle? Can you lose the

battle? It is going down extremely well. There's nothing like this

anywhere else. Tennis - and despite winning the

opening set, Andy Murray has been knocked out of the Mexican Open. He

lost his semifinal to Bulgarian Gregor Dimitrov in three sets.

Fourth seed Dimitrov hadn't won a set in his previous three matches

against Murray. In football, Celtic are 21 points in

the lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership after a 5-0 win at home

against Caley Thistle. St Mirren moved out of the relegation play-off

spot, scoring two late goals against Kilmarnock.

Rangers beat East Fife 1-0 with a penalty from Lee McCulloch in the

third minute of injury time. Rangers are unbeaten in League 1 and need

two more wins to clinch the title. Ricky Burns will make the fifth

defence of his WBO Lightweight title when he faces the American Terence

Crawford at the SECC in Glasgow tonight. The Scot goes into the

fight as the underdog against the man from Nebraska, who's unbeaten in

22 fights. Time for the weather outlook.

is a Met Office warning for ice. Icy patches on untreated surfaces. A dry

and cold start in the North initially. Rayner will march in from

the west. Some high roots may be effective. The rain moves northwards

and eastwards. It becomes showery in nature. If fairly widespread fast

and some missed and fog patches forming. Tomorrow morning, we have
