There's more throughout the evening on the BBC News Channel. | :00:00. | :00:00.
Several hundred anti-poverty campaigners have met in Glasgow with | :00:07. | :00:10.
a call to end zero-hour contracts and support better wages. | :00:11. | :00:14.
The gathering came on the day a major new report said those | :00:15. | :00:17.
in poverty should be more involved in finding ways to tackle it. | :00:18. | :00:19.
Poverty continues to be one of the big issues facing the country today. | :00:20. | :00:31.
Now one organisation says the way to tackle the problem is by getting | :00:32. | :00:39.
everyone involved. Today in Glasgow antipoverty campaigners, politicians | :00:40. | :00:42.
and others supported that message, put forward by the Poverty Truth | :00:43. | :00:46.
Commission which outlined its vision for change following a two-year | :00:47. | :00:50.
investigation. At the heart of what the report says is that, until we | :00:51. | :00:55.
choose to directly involve people who live in poverty, day in, day | :00:56. | :01:00.
out, we won't make the differences that we need to The Commission make. | :01:01. | :01:05.
Recommended an end to the practice of employing people on zero-hours | :01:06. | :01:12.
contracts. It said fuel bills could be reduced by improving home | :01:13. | :01:16.
insulation. It called on the public to back a fairer living wage for the | :01:17. | :01:22.
low paid. Trisha who works to help residents in this area say people | :01:23. | :01:25.
aren't often given the opportunities they deserve. People are actually in | :01:26. | :01:30.
jobs. Some people who don't want to be in those particular jobs. They | :01:31. | :01:34.
want to find jobs they have the skills for, not having to take jobs | :01:35. | :01:38.
that do not sit with them comfortably. As well as the report | :01:39. | :01:42.
itself, today's gathering was also intended to send the message that | :01:43. | :01:48.
where ever Scotland's future lies more must be done to combat poverty | :01:49. | :01:50.
right now. Thousands of people have come out to | :01:51. | :01:56.
see the Queen's Baton Relay make It's visited a children's hospital, | :01:57. | :01:59.

who, despite being registered blind, dyslexic and hearing impaired, has | :02:30. | :02:32.
fought against the odds to succeed in athletics. It's been an amazing | :02:33. | :02:38.
experience. The baton is a beautiful thing. To be carrying something that | :02:39. | :02:43.
travelled 70 countries and when you hold it, you're speechless. The | :02:44. | :02:47.
crowds were magnificent. You know, you want to saviour the moment. | :02:48. | :02:52.
Once-in-a-lifetime much I will never forget it. Despite his Thistle | :02:53. | :03:00.
