police operation across the UK has resulted in the arrest of up to 600 | :00:00. | 3:59:59
suspected paedophiles. The Scottish team arrives | :00:00. | :00:07.
at the Commonwealth Games athletes' village as it's revealed there's | :00:08. | :00:10.
been an outbreak of norovirus With a week to go, we'll be asking | :00:11. | :00:12.
how concerned the organisers should be and why initially they | :00:13. | :00:16.
denied it was norovirus. Also on the programme, the cash runs | :00:17. | :00:18.
out for the Government scheme that helps you buy a new home just three | :00:19. | :00:21.
months into the financial year. Scotland's economy is growing faster | :00:22. | :00:24.
than the UK's as a whole, but there's mixed news | :00:25. | :00:27.
on the jobs front. They were the surprise package | :00:28. | :00:29.
of the World Cup. Now, Gordon Strachan says Scotland | :00:30. | :00:31.
has to play more like Costa Rica And, it's a symbol of the Highlands, | :00:32. | :00:34.
but now there are plans to try to introduce the golden eagle to south | :00:35. | :00:39.
of Scotland. With just a week until | :00:40. | :01:19.
Glasgow's Commonwealth Games, organisers are battling a norovirus | :01:20. | :01:21.
outbreak at the athlete's village. Twelve workers there have symptoms | :01:22. | :01:24.
of the diarrhoea and vomiting bug. The head of the Games organising | :01:25. | :01:26.
committee, David Grevemberg, initially denied it was norovirus, | :01:27. | :01:29.
before health experts overruled him. Here's our Health Correspondent, | :01:30. | :01:31.
Eleanor Bradford. Norovirus has been called the | :01:32. | :01:53.
perfect pathogen. It's easily spread, very contagious and survives | :01:54. | :01:57.
for long periods. Although healthy people will recover within a few | :01:58. | :02:00.
days, you wouldn't want to get it and then try and win a gold medal. | :02:01. | :02:05.
Welcoming Chris Hoy to the airport, the Chief Executive of the Games | :02:06. | :02:11.
first denied the situation. It's not norovirus we have had a few isolated | :02:12. | :02:18.
incidents of diarrhoea and vomiting which is isolated of two of a | :02:19. | :02:24.
certain workforce. Within the hour, health experts confirmed 12 athletes | :02:25. | :02:29.
had become infected and norovirus was the cause. It's come to our | :02:30. | :02:34.
attention that 12 of the workforce have reported with diarrhoea and | :02:35. | :02:37.
vomiting. As a result of that, it was initially nine, then a further | :02:38. | :02:41.
three, we've instituted a fairly robust programme of investigation. | :02:42. | :02:47.
Very, very infectious, so it's estimated the amount of virus you | :02:48. | :02:51.
would find on a pin head is sufficient to infect about a | :02:52. | :02:54.
thousand people. In a community like an athlete village, unfortunately, | :02:55. | :02:58.
it's possible it will spread. The question now is whether norovirus is | :02:59. | :03:02.
in the athlete village. Public health professionals did plan for | :03:03. | :03:07.
that scenario and with deep cleaning and strict hygiene measures, they | :03:08. | :03:10.
may be able to keep it under control. For the man in charge of | :03:11. | :03:15.
the Games to deny a potential public health problem is not the most | :03:16. | :03:19.
auspicious or reassuring start. Two members of | :03:20. | :03:24.
Cameroon's Commonwealth Games wrestling team have gone missing | :03:25. | :03:25.
from their Aberdeen training camp. ??EDITNEXTSUBTITLE | :03:26. | :03:28.
??EDITPREVIOUSSUBTITLE The men were reported missing | :03:29. | :03:28.
from their base near the city's Police say the pair were last seen | :03:29. | :03:31.
at The Hillhead Halls of Residence The Cameroon team started | :03:32. | :03:35.
their pre-games training in Aberdeen Meanwhile, | :03:36. | :03:38.
talks will take place on Friday to try to avert a strike by BBC staff | :03:39. | :03:49.
during the Games Opening Ceremony. Three unions are planning a 12-hour | :03:50. | :03:52.
strike next Wednesday over pay. Our correspondent Jamie McIvor's | :03:53. | :03:55.
with us. If this goes ahead, what will be the | :03:56. | :04:08.
impact? It's almost certain the opening ceremony will be seen in | :04:09. | :04:11.
Britain and around the world. The pictures of the ceremony itself are | :04:12. | :04:17.
produced by an independent company and the BBC broadcasters around the | :04:18. | :04:21.
world have simply bought the rights to show the Games. What could | :04:22. | :04:26.
potential be affected though is the BBC's own programme. Now, across the | :04:27. | :04:30.
riv from the studio that's been specially built to house some of the | :04:31. | :04:35.
BBC's Commonwealth Games coverage, the kind of things that may be | :04:36. | :04:38.
affected by the coverage are things like the commentary, and the studio | :04:39. | :04:42.
presentation, all the elements that could help turn next Wednesday | :04:43. | :04:47.
night's ceremony into a fully rounded television programme. News | :04:48. | :04:50.
coverage of the opening ceremony, it could be badly affected too. | :04:51. | :04:54.
Talks are planned but is there any hope of the strike being called off? | :04:55. | :05:00.
Yes. Talks are taking place on Friday in London between senior BBC | :05:01. | :05:03.
management and the three unions involved in this dispute. It's a | :05:04. | :05:08.
UK-wide pay dispute and the unions make the point that they say members | :05:09. | :05:12.
of staff have seen the value of their pay fall in real terms in | :05:13. | :05:17.
recent years. I spoke to the National Union of Journalists | :05:18. | :05:21.
Scottish organiser and asked him if calling a strike next Wednesday had | :05:22. | :05:26.
been wise. It's wise in the sense that strategicically it's worked. | :05:27. | :05:30.
There is a meeting only hours after we told them the ballot results and | :05:31. | :05:36.
said we'll take action on that day. No-one in this building wants to | :05:37. | :05:39.
disrupt the Commonwealth Games. It's a massive event for Glasgow and | :05:40. | :05:43.
Scotland. However, the BBC need to realise that we are not prepared to | :05:44. | :05:48.
put up with this type of treatment. The BBC makes a point it's already | :05:49. | :05:52.
improved on original pay offer and says it's mindful of the need for | :05:53. | :05:55.
savings with the TV licence frozen. We meet the paralympian hoping to go | :05:56. | :06:10.
one better after winning silver in the Paralympics. Scotland must play | :06:11. | :06:16.
football like Costa Rica or Chile so says Gordon Strachan. And the stage | :06:17. | :06:23.
is set for the 143rd Open Championship. | :06:24. | :06:30.
The BBC has learned the Scottish Government's Help to Buy | :06:31. | :06:33.
scheme has run out of money for this financial year, just three | :06:34. | :06:36.
It's now too late for most people to apply for the scheme that | :06:37. | :06:40.
Our economics Correspondent Colletta Smith has the story. | :06:41. | :06:48.
The Help To Buy scheme has been a flagship for people like Lynn, | :06:49. | :06:54.
helping her buy a brand-new home. It's made a difference. We wouldn't | :06:55. | :06:59.
be here without it so we've definitely got more than what we | :07:00. | :07:02.
expected. That is what the Scottish Government were hoping for when they | :07:03. | :07:10.
launched and extended the scheme. This scheme is really important. It | :07:11. | :07:13.
helps people who struggle to get a deposit. | :07:14. | :07:16.
But for most of Scotland, just three months into this financial year, the | :07:17. | :07:20.
money has already run out. At the start of April, the | :07:21. | :07:25.
Government set aside enough money to support 2,000 homes. By the start of | :07:26. | :07:30.
July this year, only 600 deals were left. | :07:31. | :07:33.
They divided the deals into population areas. In the last ten | :07:34. | :07:38.
days, all the allocations for the central belt have gone, and mortgage | :07:39. | :07:43.
brokers believe it's likely the remaining 180 deals for Aberdeen, | :07:44. | :07:47.
Inverness and Orkney, will be agreed within the next two weeks. For the | :07:48. | :07:50.
majority of people living in Scotland, the chance of buying a new | :07:51. | :07:53.
home with Government help is already over. | :07:54. | :07:57.
That is especial hi tough for those really close to signing a deal and | :07:58. | :08:00.
whose mortgages will now fall through. | :08:01. | :08:07.
-- Especially tough. These people potentially have been planning this | :08:08. | :08:10.
for a very long time and within ten days the scheme's literally closed, | :08:11. | :08:13.
so it will be a number of people that will be upset by this, no | :08:14. | :08:17.
question. The Scottish Government says there's been huge demand for | :08:18. | :08:20.
the scheme but people can continue to apply to purchase homes which | :08:21. | :08:26.
will be completed from the 1st April 20156789 that will be cold contract | :08:27. | :08:29.
for those hoping for a new home this year. | :08:30. | :08:36.
The Westminster leader of the SNP, Angus Robertson, | :08:37. | :08:39.
is calling for an apology from the Prime Minister and the former | :08:40. | :08:43.
Mr Robertson says both men, during today's Prime Minister's | :08:44. | :08:50.
questions, falsely attributed comments by the new President of the | :08:51. | :08:54.
European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, about Scotland. | :08:55. | :08:57.
Mr Juncker says he was not referring to Scotland when he said there would | :08:58. | :09:01.
be no new members of the EU in the next five years. | :09:02. | :09:08.
Scotland's economy grew at the start of this year faster | :09:09. | :09:12.
According to official figures, Scottish output is now stronger | :09:13. | :09:18.
But the number of people who're unemployed has also risen. | :09:19. | :09:24.
Our business correspondent David Henderson can tell us more. | :09:25. | :09:32.
Scotland's economy grew a bit faster than the UK as a whole in the first | :09:33. | :09:37.
three months of this year and Scotland is reaching the point where | :09:38. | :09:40.
the economy is bigger than it was before the financial crash. | :09:41. | :09:48.
This firm is helping British golfers who don't just want to drive off the | :09:49. | :09:53.
tee. They sell golf buggies around the world and have set up in | :09:54. | :09:56.
Cumbernauld. The vehicles will be used at the Ryder Cup, at Gleneagles | :09:57. | :10:01.
in September. They are taking on staff to meet demand from a growing | :10:02. | :10:08.
Scottish market. We have covered the west and East Coast from here and | :10:09. | :10:12.
Gleneagles is only half an hour up the road, so it fits for us and we | :10:13. | :10:17.
are very excited about moving into Scotland. We are bringing in bland | :10:18. | :10:22.
new units and obviously employment as well -- brand-new units. | :10:23. | :10:27.
Extra demand for what they sell has prompted many firms to take on staff | :10:28. | :10:32.
and that trend is continuing. It's good news to see the recovery | :10:33. | :10:37.
is going strongly here in Scotland. 1% growth on the quarter meaning | :10:38. | :10:42.
that the economy is now 2.6% larger than it was this time last year, so | :10:43. | :10:46.
conning that momentum is clearly a very positive sign for businesses. | :10:47. | :10:55.
It's not all good news. Today the oil company Cheveron announced plans | :10:56. | :11:01.
to cut over 200 jobs in Aberdeen. The red to recovery is bumpy to | :11:02. | :11:06.
firms and customers alike. What has been the impact on the rest of the | :11:07. | :11:10.
workforce? 2 t latest figures show the number of people looking for a | :11:11. | :11:15.
job rose by 13,000 even though it fell across the UK as a whole. But | :11:16. | :11:20.
at the same time, Scotland's total workforce rose to an all-time high. | :11:21. | :11:25.
Some parts of Scotland are clearly faring better than others. In | :11:26. | :11:28.
Shetland, there's almost foul employment and the island's economy | :11:29. | :11:33.
is growing fast, as my colleague has been finding out. | :11:34. | :11:42.
It's boom time force Shetland. The building of the new gas plant is | :11:43. | :11:46.
reaping rich rewards for the islands. Lerwick Harbour is a good | :11:47. | :11:50.
illustration of how busy Shetland is at the moment. There are three | :11:51. | :11:54.
cruise liners and three accommodation barges housing around | :11:55. | :11:58.
1700 temporary workers, building the new gas plant. They are all spending | :11:59. | :12:06.
money in the local shops and pubs. This year's continued building of | :12:07. | :12:12.
the new gas plant and the planned refurbishment of the terminal too. | :12:13. | :12:17.
Shetland's economy is largely based on fishing. | :12:18. | :12:25.
The sector is worth over ?300 million a year to the island's | :12:26. | :12:28.
economy. Two thirds of Scottish mussels are | :12:29. | :12:38.
grown here. The boom economy is presenting | :12:39. | :12:41.
challenges for the islands. House prices have doubled in the last | :12:42. | :12:45.
decade, according to the Bank of Scotland. The average price of a | :12:46. | :12:53.
home here is over ?153,000. Steven helps run a small engineering | :12:54. | :12:57.
company in Shetland. With the abundance in and around Shetland, | :12:58. | :13:00.
combined with the engineering skills shortage we are seeing, the wages in | :13:01. | :13:05.
the oil and gas sector have become highly inflated. The next boom is | :13:06. | :13:08.
already on the horizon. A power station and school are in the | :13:09. | :13:13.
pipeline, Lerwick harbour is gearing up for decommissioning, and to the | :13:14. | :13:17.
west of the island, oil and gas deals are being developed all the | :13:18. | :13:19.
time. So, Shetland at least is booming. | :13:20. | :13:24.
But across Scotland, the recovery remains uneven. For most of us, wage | :13:25. | :13:28.
rises still lag behind the rate of inflation. | :13:29. | :13:32.
While the economy is getting stronger, many still don't feel any | :13:33. | :13:41.
richer. I'll talk to the Finance Secretary, | :13:42. | :13:46.
John Swinney. There is good news for the Scottish economy today. George | :13:47. | :13:49.
Osborne says he is in denial about the costs of independence. We'll | :13:50. | :13:52.
talk about homophobia in the Commonwealth. What should we do | :13:53. | :14:00.
about it during the Games? Now a look at what else is happening | :14:01. | :14:04.
across the country: A three-year-old boy is being treated at hospital for | :14:05. | :14:08.
facial injuries after being attacked by a pitbull in a garden in | :14:09. | :14:11.
Kilmarnock. The dog has been put down. | :14:12. | :14:15.
A 25-year-old man has been reported to the pro Procurator Fiscal in | :14:16. | :14:19.
relation to the incident. A man has died following a motorbike accident | :14:20. | :14:26.
on the Lossiemouth airbase last night. The 49-year-old was off duty | :14:27. | :14:31.
from the RAF. He's not been named. An investigation will be carried | :14:32. | :14:33.
out. Police are investigating a factory | :14:34. | :14:39.
in Fife after a series of random drug test failures among the | :14:40. | :14:44.
workforce. The company makes parts for the North Sea oil and gas | :14:45. | :14:46.
industry. NHS Orkney is to carry out an | :14:47. | :14:51.
internal investigation after admission and treatment records for | :14:52. | :14:54.
seven hospital patients were found in the street. Its Chief Executive | :14:55. | :14:57.
has tell scribed the incident as a serious breach of patient | :14:58. | :15:06.
confidentiality. Tweed could get counterfeit | :15:07. | :15:11.
protection. It wants to extend the status from defined areas. | :15:12. | :15:19.
This year's design for the floral clock in Edinburgh's Prince's Street | :15:20. | :15:26.
gardens has been unveiled. 30,000 plants have been used to | :15:27. | :15:31.
create this celebration of a decade of Fair Trade in the capital. | :15:32. | :15:38.
The sprinter Libby Clegg won silver at the London Paralympics but in | :15:39. | :15:42.
Glasgow she's looking to two one better. The -- 24-year-old -year-old | :15:43. | :15:51.
is registered blind. Jane Lewis has been to meet the | :15:52. | :15:57.
paralympian who has a unique relationship with her partner. I put | :15:58. | :16:00.
my thumb through this bit. I've got to make sure I start at the | :16:01. | :16:17.
same time as Libby. I feel closer. A lot of the stuff that we do is on | :16:18. | :16:22.
movement. Especially going around the bend. She knows then that if I | :16:23. | :16:29.
give her a slight tug and lean, she knows. Yes. Difference sizes. You | :16:30. | :16:37.
obviously work well to get that straight? It's natural for us | :16:38. | :16:41.
really. It's like finding a partner in life, like having a relationship | :16:42. | :16:47.
with him. It's kind of you either click or you don't. I've had a guide | :16:48. | :16:55.
dog now for about five weeks. It's going really we can. -- Really well. | :16:56. | :17:02.
I have an eye condition which basically is the loss of my central | :17:03. | :17:09.
vision. I try and be a normal 24-year-old person. Now you are | :17:10. | :17:17.
moving on to the Commonwealth Games. You are an honorary Scot for this? I | :17:18. | :17:22.
know, I know! It's an honour. It really is. For me, having to wear | :17:23. | :17:26.
the kilt as well, it's part of the culture, and I'm, you know, set to | :17:27. | :17:31.
embrace that and I'm looking forward to it. | :17:32. | :17:38.
We are looking for a gold. We are going to put down a fantastic | :17:39. | :17:41.
performance that will hopefully please the crowd. Yes. | :17:42. | :17:49.
Let's get the rest of the sport now. Scotland must follow the lead of | :17:50. | :17:52.
Costa Rica and Chile if they are to compete at the top of international | :17:53. | :17:57.
football, according to Scotland boss Gordon Strachan who says their team | :17:58. | :18:01.
ethic helped pull off some shock results at the World Cup. | :18:02. | :18:06.
For Gordon Strachan and Scotland, the hope is that all roads now lead | :18:07. | :18:15.
to Paris. Or at least to Euro 2016. The template for success is the one | :18:16. | :18:20.
for all and all for one philosophy employed by Costa Rica and some of | :18:21. | :18:24.
their World Cup surprise packages. What they do is, they look like a | :18:25. | :18:30.
team. They actually have to work harder, whether it's on the football | :18:31. | :18:34.
field or the training area, they work harder. They want to win games. | :18:35. | :18:39.
If they do everything as a team, we are in that bracket, we are hoping | :18:40. | :18:44.
we'll have a team unit that can play against anybody. | :18:45. | :18:50.
It's not just anybody who provides the first obstacle en route to | :18:51. | :18:53.
France, it's the epitome of what Strachan most admires. | :18:54. | :19:00.
I think the Germans look like a team. The other ones who're there, | :19:01. | :19:07.
it was based on a kind of, an individual looking teams. It was | :19:08. | :19:10.
based on waiting for individuals to produce a certain bit of form. But | :19:11. | :19:16.
the Germans, they're a team. At the moment, they are THE team. | :19:17. | :19:22.
Maybe Scotland's best hope is that DAS team are still giddy with World | :19:23. | :19:27.
Cup euphoria when they host the Scots in September. | :19:28. | :19:32.
The new Celtic manager is mostly happy with his first competitive | :19:33. | :19:37.
game in charge. It was a 1-0 away win over the Icelandic side | :19:38. | :19:45.
Reykjavik. It was a goal to remember for Callum McGregor on his debut for | :19:46. | :19:51.
Celtic. I'm absolutely delighted. It was my | :19:52. | :19:56.
first competitive start as well. Being in the Champions League as | :19:57. | :19:59.
well, I'm delighted that the team got the win we needed and on a | :20:00. | :20:04.
personal note delighted with the goal. It was a bit sleepy at first, | :20:05. | :20:09.
in the second half, it was much better when we played through them, | :20:10. | :20:13.
penetrating passes and getting more runs. We opened them up. Happy with | :20:14. | :20:17.
the performance, especially the second half. Mo Farah has Tweeted | :20:18. | :20:22.
training is going well, next up the Commonwealth Games. The double | :20:23. | :20:26.
Olympic gold medallist has been given the all-clear by doctors after | :20:27. | :20:31.
tests for stomach pains. He missed the Diamond League last week. He is | :20:32. | :20:36.
due to run in the 5,000 and 10,000 metres. | :20:37. | :20:42.
At 6.25 tomorrow morning, the 143rd open Championship gets under way at | :20:43. | :20:46.
Hoylake with Englishman David huh rehiting the first ball. Eight Scots | :20:47. | :20:51.
are in the field all with dreams of lifting the Claret Jug. | :20:52. | :20:58.
Here at Royal Liverpool, they are getting ready with the galleries | :20:59. | :21:02.
getting into position to cheer on their favourites. Come on, Tiger... | :21:03. | :21:07.
The return of Tiger Woods is making the Hoylake headlines. After a good | :21:08. | :21:11.
week at Royal Aberdeen, others are also keen to impress. There's | :21:12. | :21:16.
obviously another week but same kind of conditions, similar golf courses. | :21:17. | :21:22.
They are identical almost. Old-fashioned link ings. It's going | :21:23. | :21:27.
to be a great week. It's 15 years since this man won. A Scot following | :21:28. | :21:32.
suit this week would be a surprise, but then stranger things have | :21:33. | :21:36.
already been seen here. It's a pop-up camera. I bought it with the | :21:37. | :21:40.
soul purpose of attracting the attention of the players. So far, | :21:41. | :21:44.
only one has noticed that I'm wearing it. | :21:45. | :21:49.
The stand out week in the goofing calendar. While the Ryder Cup may be | :21:50. | :21:54.
coming to Gleneagles, for the players, Open Championship can never | :21:55. | :22:01.
be overshadowed. Do you ever wonder what would happen if you got a | :22:02. | :22:04.
two-shot lead? Of course that,'s what I dream of. Promise us an | :22:05. | :22:10.
interview if you hold the Claret Jug? I can manage that. It's all | :22:11. | :22:15.
quiet here but that's set to change. Come Sunday, there'll be a name on | :22:16. | :22:18.
the score board behind me, the question is, who will it be? | :22:19. | :22:24.
Indeed. Always a cliff hanger with Phil! | :22:25. | :22:27.
Thank you very much. The golden eagle is one of the country's most | :22:28. | :22:31.
iconic species and a symbol of the Highlands. A new report says the | :22:32. | :22:35.
south of Scotland could also become a stronghold for the birds if work | :22:36. | :22:39.
is carried out to improve their natural habitat. Here is our | :22:40. | :22:42.
Environment Correspondent, David Miller. | :22:43. | :22:50.
Hundreding on the hillside or soaring along a mountain ridge. The | :22:51. | :22:58.
golden eagle is at home in the Highlands and islands -- hunting on | :22:59. | :23:03.
the hillside. In the south, the skies are often | :23:04. | :23:09.
empty, only a few pairs of golden eagles breed successfully here each | :23:10. | :23:12.
year. If golden eagles are to thrive again | :23:13. | :23:16.
here in the south of Scotland, they'll need more places like this. | :23:17. | :23:23.
This is the wild wood and, on the hillside, the trees are beginning to | :23:24. | :23:28.
regenerate naturally. That provides an ideal place for golden eagles to | :23:29. | :23:32.
hunt. The report from Scottish Natural | :23:33. | :23:37.
Heritage says the south of Scotland could support up to 16 breeding | :23:38. | :23:42.
pairs. But, improving the habitat is only part of the story. | :23:43. | :23:47.
The great work with the Forestry Commission that's been done in terms | :23:48. | :23:52.
of improving woodlands to provide much more open spaces and prey for | :23:53. | :23:56.
the bird, making sure that trees are there for golden eagles, of course | :23:57. | :23:59.
making sure there is no persecution, and that the windfarms are sited in | :24:00. | :24:04.
the right place. Windfarms are a real threat to birds | :24:05. | :24:10.
of prey. But, research suggests the numbers killed are low in comparison | :24:11. | :24:14.
with those which fall victim to shooting, trapping and poisoning. | :24:15. | :24:20.
The poisoning of the female from the breeding pair across in BBCshire in | :24:21. | :24:29.
2007 drew attention to this -- Peebleshire. Landowners | :24:30. | :24:32.
organisations condemn persecution. They'll have a key role to play if | :24:33. | :24:39.
the fortunes of the golden eagle are to be restored here. | :24:40. | :24:46.
Know the Queen's Baton Relay is getting ever closer to its Glasgow | :24:47. | :24:50.
destination ahead of the Games next week. Tonight, where is it, because | :24:51. | :24:55.
Christopher is there too. Thank you very much. Welcome to a | :24:56. | :25:00.
beautiful evening here. Perfect timing because the Queen's baton has | :25:01. | :25:06.
literally just arrived here after a day touring throughout east | :25:07. | :25:09.
Renfrewshire and the celebrations are ongoing this evening. | :25:10. | :25:13.
Entertainment and music celebrate the day's activities and perfect | :25:14. | :25:17.
conditions for it as well. What about the conditions for the | :25:18. | :25:21.
rest of this week? This evening and overnight, it's largely dry. The | :25:22. | :25:25.
last of the rain clearing away from the East Coast, some holding on | :25:26. | :25:31.
around Sky and the West Highlands. It's largely dry overnight. The odd | :25:32. | :25:35.
mist or fog patch around. Certainly nothing too cold. | :25:36. | :25:41.
Temperatures no lower than ten or 11. Milder in town. Tomorrow, high | :25:42. | :25:50.
pressure is in charge. It's dry and settled across-the-board, bright and | :25:51. | :25:53.
sunny for many. One or two light showers in the hills and high | :25:54. | :25:56.
ground. For most, it's a dry day. Reasonably | :25:57. | :26:02.
pleasantly warm. By mid afternoon, through the central belt, | :26:03. | :26:07.
temperatures 20 to 22. Somewhat cooler towards the West Coast up | :26:08. | :26:10.
through the Highlands and islands and more like high teens here plus | :26:11. | :26:20.
one or two light showers. It's dry with brighter skies. A | :26:21. | :26:24.
breeze off the sea will mean a cooling trend on the coast through | :26:25. | :26:29.
the day. The Queen's Baton Relay moves through towards Renfrewshire | :26:30. | :26:33.
tomorrow and it looks set fair weather wise. The rest of the | :26:34. | :26:42.
afternoon, evening and night, sunny skies, much like this evening. You | :26:43. | :26:47.
can see as we head through towards Friday, high pressure pulls away | :26:48. | :26:51.
towards Scandinavia and that will introduce low pressure from England, | :26:52. | :26:54.
bringing some heavy showers, mainly in the south-west. On Friday, the | :26:55. | :27:01.
risk of a few heavy showers. Cloudier towards the East Coast, hot | :27:02. | :27:09.
in the north-west, with 24, maybe 25 di-Greigs. -- degrees. | :27:10. | :27:16.
That is the forecast. From all the celebrations here behind me, it's | :27:17. | :27:19.
back to you. Thank you very much. The top | :27:20. | :27:22.
stories: The organisers of Glasgow's | :27:23. | :27:26.
Commonwealth Games are battling a norovirus outbreak and at the | :27:27. | :27:30.
athlete village. 12 workers have symptoms of the bug. The Head of The | :27:31. | :27:35.
organise ing ing committee denied initially it was norovirus before | :27:36. | :27:38.
health experts overruled him. That is Reporting Scotland. I'll be back | :27:39. | :27:42.
with the late news. Until then, from all of us here, enjoy your evening. | :27:43. | :27:44.
Bye. | :27:45. | :27:47. |
