With five days to go until the Commonwealth Games, the organisers | :00:32. | :00:37.
are confident everything is ready to go. In six days time our first | :00:38. | :00:42.
spectators will be walking through the door. | :00:43. | :00:46.
At the athletes village organisers say they have traced the cause of | :00:47. | :00:51.
the suspected nor a virus outbreak. Also on the programme: Detectives | :00:52. | :00:54.
say they are making progress in the hunt for the attack of an | :00:55. | :00:59.
85-year-old woman in Edinburgh. Swimmer Michael Jamieson says he | :01:00. | :01:02.
wants to do something special at the Commonwealth Games. | :01:03. | :01:10.
And the baton relay is heading up the River Clyde. | :01:11. | :01:22.
Good evening. A man has been charged with repeatedly shooting and killing | :01:23. | :01:29.
a well-known Lasko prankster outside a busy supermarket in front of | :01:30. | :01:38.
terrified shoppers. Paterson is accused of killing Carrol, known as | :01:39. | :01:44.
Gerbil four years ago. It was around lunch time on the 13th | :01:45. | :01:51.
of January 2010. Here, on this CCTV footage, you can see shoppers | :01:52. | :01:56.
running back into the ASDA store. They heard gunshots, as Kevin | :01:57. | :02:00.
Carroll was killed in the car park. He was sitting in the back of a | :02:01. | :02:05.
black Audi. These pictures were taken by the police helicopter in | :02:06. | :02:09.
the aftermath. A distressing scene, believed to have been the | :02:10. | :02:14.
consequence of gangland rivalry. 29-year-old Kevin Carroll was | :02:15. | :02:19.
nicknamed Gerbil by his associates. He was a well-known gangland figure | :02:20. | :02:23.
but since his death four and a half years ago, no one has been convicted | :02:24. | :02:28.
for his murder. 34-year-old William Paterson appeared in private here at | :02:29. | :02:33.
Lasko Sheriff Court. He is charged with the murder of Kevin Carroll by | :02:34. | :02:38.
repeatedly shooting him. He is also accused of possessing two pistols | :02:39. | :02:41.
and of trying to defeat the ends of justice by setting fire to the car | :02:42. | :02:46.
and concealing two handguns in shrubbery at the back of Coatbridge | :02:47. | :02:51.
library. He made no clear declaration and has been remanded in | :02:52. | :02:55.
custody, expected to appear again next week. | :02:56. | :03:00.
The Commonwealth Games organisers say the event is coming in on budget | :03:01. | :03:04.
but the First Minister, Alex Salmond, has sanctioned a further ?5 | :03:05. | :03:09.
million spent from the contingency fund. The extra money is to improve | :03:10. | :03:14.
transport links and cope with any unexpected eventualities over the | :03:15. | :03:18.
next fortnight. As more athletes arrive in Glasgow, officials say | :03:19. | :03:21.
they have traced the source of a suspected norovirus at their living | :03:22. | :03:27.
quarters. Some of the South African team | :03:28. | :03:31.
joined in celebrations for Nelson Mandela Day. You do not have to look | :03:32. | :03:36.
too far to find athletes gathering ahead of the games. Teams arrived | :03:37. | :03:42.
all day at the airport. The source of Norrie virus outbreak traced, | :03:43. | :03:49.
those arriving from far-flung places do not seem too concerned. As long | :03:50. | :03:54.
as we use hand sanitisers and things like that, it should not be a big | :03:55. | :04:00.
deal. We will follow all our regular protocols. We are really careful | :04:01. | :04:04.
about hygiene because you have to be professional for these sorts of | :04:05. | :04:06.
things and do your best but it is not something we are really worried | :04:07. | :04:12.
about. At the Hydro, it is only days until the gymnastics. We have been | :04:13. | :04:17.
here for two and a half weeks already and in a few days we will | :04:18. | :04:19.
have our first athlete in the building and in six days time we | :04:20. | :04:23.
will have our first spectators walking through the door. | :04:24. | :04:27.
Elsewhere, the City is being spruced up. Visitors are arriving and | :04:28. | :04:31.
last-minute preparations are under way. And the first cultural shows of | :04:32. | :04:38.
the games. From today, the games go live, with a sanction from the First | :04:39. | :04:41.
Minister to spend additional funds from the special reserve. We will be | :04:42. | :04:47.
able to sanction some additional investment today. Two things, one to | :04:48. | :04:53.
make sure that the transportation experience for the spectators is | :04:54. | :04:56.
everything it should be. And second, there is a budget allocated for | :04:57. | :05:03.
lifetime. Said the finishing touches are being put in place. Not long now | :05:04. | :05:09.
until the games begin. Our reporter is by the River Clyde. | :05:10. | :05:14.
What is the latest on the Norrie virus outbreak? | :05:15. | :05:18.
We learned today that the source of the infection by the temporary | :05:19. | :05:22.
toilet primarily used by security workers at the Village. The number | :05:23. | :05:27.
of cases has risen to 48 although the First Minister said today he was | :05:28. | :05:30.
confident the worst was over and so the numbers should tail off. It is | :05:31. | :05:35.
important to say, too, that no athletes have reported symptoms at | :05:36. | :05:38.
this stage. The other news tonight is that the possible strike by BBC | :05:39. | :05:42.
staff next Wednesday has been called off and that means coverage of the | :05:43. | :05:47.
opening ceremony will be unaffected. You are watching Reporting Scotland. | :05:48. | :05:53.
Still to come: The troubled Science Centre Tower in Glasgow prepares to | :05:54. | :05:58.
reopen after almost four years. And in sport, a decent day for the | :05:59. | :06:04.
top Scots and impressive stuff from the European Ryder Cup hopefuls. And | :06:05. | :06:09.
in football: Celtic's reaction to hearing the potential opponents in | :06:10. | :06:15.
the Champions League draw. Police say they are making progress | :06:16. | :06:19.
in the hunt for the person who attacked and seriously injured and | :06:20. | :06:23.
85-year-old woman in her home on the south side of Edinburgh last week. | :06:24. | :06:26.
They have released details of a man seen in the area around the time of | :06:27. | :06:32.
assault. These quiet street in Edinburgh was | :06:33. | :06:36.
lined with police today. But an attempted murder is on the loose and | :06:37. | :06:42.
officers want to find him. There was a serious incident in this street | :06:43. | :06:46.
last Friday. Everyone passing was asked if they were here last week | :06:47. | :06:49.
when a pensioner was brutally attacked in her home in the middle | :06:50. | :06:54.
of the afternoon. Detectives say they are determined to catch the | :06:55. | :06:58.
person responsible. It was or was going to be difficult. It was not | :06:59. | :07:03.
going to be something we would solve overnight. I've used at what we have | :07:04. | :07:06.
achieved in a relatively short period and I think we now have a | :07:07. | :07:12.
focus around this inquiry. And that focus is a man seen by eyewitnesses | :07:13. | :07:16.
and on CCTV hanging around this area about the time of the attack. He is | :07:17. | :07:21.
between 18 and 30 years old with bushy eyebrows and was wearing a | :07:22. | :07:25.
baseball cap. Police want to know if anyone recognises that description. | :07:26. | :07:32.
Were you in the area last Friday? It was exactly a week ago about this | :07:33. | :07:36.
time that the brutal attack took place and police thought that by | :07:37. | :07:39.
coming here today, they would jog the memory of someone who saw | :07:40. | :07:43.
something that could lead them to the attacker. Already, this | :07:44. | :07:47.
operation has had some success, with dozens of people saying they were | :07:48. | :07:50.
here around the time of the attack last Friday. The 85-year-old woman | :07:51. | :07:55.
is still in a serious condition in hospital but she is stable and | :07:56. | :08:00.
police hope they will eventually be able to speak to her about what | :08:01. | :08:05.
happened. The Glasgow Science Centre Tower | :08:06. | :08:08.
reopens to the public tomorrow after being closed for almost four years. | :08:09. | :08:13.
The ?10 million structure has been plagued with problems since it | :08:14. | :08:16.
opened 13 years ago and it has been closed more than it has been opened. | :08:17. | :08:21.
Our reporter is at the top of the tower tonight. I hope you are | :08:22. | :08:26.
enjoying the view. Take a look at it. That is not bad. From the edge | :08:27. | :08:31.
of Glasgow right down the River Clyde. Kingston Bridge and we even | :08:32. | :08:37.
have a birds eye view of the BBC where you are. We are 105 metres up. | :08:38. | :08:44.
That is why you get this view here. From tomorrow morning this will be a | :08:45. | :08:48.
view that the public can enjoy once more. It has been four years since | :08:49. | :08:52.
this tower has been open and to be honest, it has had a bit of a | :08:53. | :08:54.
chequered past. When it was opened back in 2001, it | :08:55. | :08:59.
was publicised as the tallest for your rotating building in the world, | :09:00. | :09:03.
a top tourist attraction for Glasgow, right in the midst of the | :09:04. | :09:07.
redevelopment on the River Clyde. That soon after, it became the | :09:08. | :09:11.
rotating tower that didn't. Despite major repair work, the problems | :09:12. | :09:17.
continued. In 2005, these visitors were trapped in one of the lists for | :09:18. | :09:21.
hours. Fire crews eventually freed them. More than ?1.8 million has | :09:22. | :09:27.
been spent fixing this tower and it is hoped these new lifts will be | :09:28. | :09:32.
much more efficient. We have taken the old lift system out and put a | :09:33. | :09:36.
completely new design in which is much lighter than previous versions | :09:37. | :09:43.
and more reliable. From here, all of the City lies before you from the | :09:44. | :09:47.
tall ship and the Museum of transport around the Glasgow | :09:48. | :09:50.
University and Kelvingrove Museum. Then head of the River Clyde passed | :09:51. | :09:54.
the Hydro to the East End, the centre of the Commonwealth Games | :09:55. | :09:58.
action. The reopening of the Town is being seen as very important for the | :09:59. | :10:03.
cutting edge image this City is trying to project. The Science | :10:04. | :10:07.
Centre is an iconic feature of the City and what we're doing in the | :10:08. | :10:11.
City to have the tower working and working properly for now and for the | :10:12. | :10:15.
future is really important. Rather than having it there as a wonderful | :10:16. | :10:20.
structure that kind of forlorn. Science Centre fans getting a | :10:21. | :10:25.
preview today liked what they saw. It was great. Good to get up after | :10:26. | :10:29.
all this time I remember when it opened. You see all the trees and | :10:30. | :10:35.
lovely places. It was good. It was nice going up. In the lift. Did you | :10:36. | :10:43.
like the view from the top? What could you see? Lots of buildings. | :10:44. | :10:50.
She is not wrong, is she? Loads of buildings to look at. We have just | :10:51. | :10:55.
changed position here so you can get a view this way down the River | :10:56. | :10:58.
Clyde. Although this does rotate, it will not be rotating when you are in | :10:59. | :11:05.
it. They have decided that they are not going to do an automatic | :11:06. | :11:09.
rotate, because they want the building to be fixed and last. But | :11:10. | :11:16.
if you are up here on a windy night you need to see legs a bit anyway. | :11:17. | :11:23.
Those who arrive from 10am tomorrow will be able to judge for | :11:24. | :11:28.
themselves. Some of the other stories around the | :11:29. | :11:29.
country today: Investment in the North Sea has | :11:30. | :11:34.
stalled, with planned changes to the way the industry is regulated | :11:35. | :11:36.
cited as a possible cause. Seven exploration wells were drilled | :11:37. | :11:39.
in the second quarter of this year - down from 17 | :11:40. | :11:41.
during the same period last year. The business advisory firm | :11:42. | :11:44.
Deloitte says companies may be The industry is under review and | :11:45. | :11:58.
fiscal review is under way as well. Positive developments. It just means | :11:59. | :12:03.
there is a of slight uncertainty as to what the detail will be in due | :12:04. | :12:07.
course and perhaps industry is just pausing for breath and waiting to | :12:08. | :12:08.
see what that looks like. A couple living in Glen Etive, near | :12:09. | :12:12.
Glencoe, have begun an online campaign to shame tourists who leave | :12:13. | :12:15.
litter and debris in one of Scotland's beauty spots. The glen | :12:16. | :12:18.
won international fame after featuring in the James Bond film | :12:19. | :12:20.
Skyfall. But Mark and Phillipa Shone say they're astonished at the | :12:21. | :12:23.
rubbish people leave behind. A centre to test new medical devices | :12:24. | :12:26.
is being set up at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital | :12:27. | :12:29.
at Clydebank. Individuals | :12:30. | :12:33.
and organisations will be able to submit healthcare products for | :12:34. | :12:35.
review by experts, who'll test their The first Nelson Mandela Day since | :12:36. | :12:37.
the former South African president's His granddaughter, Tukwini Mandela, | :12:38. | :12:45.

a collected works of Shakespeare which was shared by the inmates | :12:57. | :13:02.
at the prison, William Murray Kilburn was a young | :13:03. | :13:15.
man desperate to join his friends who had gone off to fight in the | :13:16. | :13:19.
First World War, but he could not because he was blind. Instead he | :13:20. | :13:24.
turned soldiers' stories into poetry and now his knees has turned the | :13:25. | :13:30.
poems into a book. She has spent the last decade | :13:31. | :13:37.
dedicating her life to the man she never met. Every day she has | :13:38. | :13:42.
painstakingly been piecing together William Murray Kilburn's poems. She | :13:43. | :13:47.
felt she owed it to him not to let them slide into an historical abyss. | :13:48. | :13:53.
I felt if I did not do it they would be lost. I have no family so | :13:54. | :13:59.
whatever I do, it would get through in a skip or something. Here in | :14:00. | :14:04.
Lanarkshire, William Murray Kilburn used to come here and greet soldiers | :14:05. | :14:08.
returning from the First World War. He would listen to their first -- | :14:09. | :14:15.
stories and then go home and turn them into poetry. | :14:16. | :14:27.
Most men enlisted with gusto, anxious to do their bit for King and | :14:28. | :14:34.
country, but William could not. Not carrying a white stick meant his | :14:35. | :14:39.
blindness often went unnoticed. Especially in the First World War, | :14:40. | :14:44.
it was a great disgrace not to go to war and in note of the facts, | :14:45. | :14:52.
somebody sent him a white feather. For William to go in there and get | :14:53. | :14:56.
these men to pour out their Hearts immediately I find quite | :14:57. | :15:03.
fascinating, and the other important thing is that that conversation, | :15:04. | :15:07.
that outpouring, can help heal trauma. The Imperial War Museum has | :15:08. | :15:12.
asked for a copy of the book. William Murray Kilburn's Words Of | :15:13. | :15:23.
War will not be forgotten after all. The swimmer Michael Jamieson says he | :15:24. | :15:28.
wants to do something special at the Commonwealth Games. Two years ago, | :15:29. | :15:32.
he won and Olympic silver medal and he is favourite to go one better | :15:33. | :15:35.
next week. The University of Bath has a proud | :15:36. | :15:40.
tradition of sporting talent. It is home to an Olympic champion. And | :15:41. | :15:45.
other Olympic medallists, including this man. I am in such a unique | :15:46. | :15:54.
position. I am not sure there are any athletes from Glasgow that also | :15:55. | :15:57.
competed in London. I am desperate to make the most of it. I want you | :15:58. | :16:07.
to come in .Mac Another training session under the watchful eye of | :16:08. | :16:11.
Dave McNulty, renowned swimming coach, and one of the reasons | :16:12. | :16:16.
Michael Jamieson moved from Glasgow to Bath five years ago. Michael | :16:17. | :16:21.
Jamieson of Scotland collecting his silver medal .Mac He came to | :16:22. | :16:24.
prominence during the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in 2010. But it was | :16:25. | :16:34.
in London 2012 when he became a household name. The main thing that | :16:35. | :16:39.
has changed for me since London is that mindset and belief that I can | :16:40. | :16:45.
challenge the titles now. I have got a huge opportunity this year to try | :16:46. | :16:51.
to do something special. Not only in the swimming pool but in terms of | :16:52. | :16:57.
having an influence on sport in general, and especially in Glasgow. | :16:58. | :17:03.
Whether it is training in the pool .Mac or conditioning work out of | :17:04. | :17:08.
it, Jamieson is ready for these games. I noticed your Olympic tattoo | :17:09. | :17:17.
on your arm. If you have success in the Commonwealth Games, can we look | :17:18. | :17:25.
for something on your other arm? May be the mascot! More sport. How odd | :17:26. | :17:34.
the Scottish hopes doing? It looks like there will be three | :17:35. | :17:35.
Scots staying for the Steven Gallacher and Marc Warren are | :17:36. | :17:46.
both still out on the course on two and one under-par | :17:47. | :17:52.
respectively, while Jamie McLean just made | :17:53. | :17:53.
the cut on two over. They're quite a way | :17:54. | :17:55.
off the pace though. At nine under-par, | :17:56. | :17:57.
Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy has weekend stronger wind for the | :17:58. | :18:02.
world's best golfer to commend with today and after yesterday's low | :18:03. | :18:05.
scoring, would be nice numbers be washed away? Not for top Scot | :18:06. | :18:09.
Stephen Gallacher, picking up two early shots. Marc Warren also made | :18:10. | :18:18.
good early progress, this put taking him to three under par. Edinburgh | :18:19. | :18:24.
Jamie McCleary has missed the cut in seven of his last 20 tournaments, | :18:25. | :18:29.
not this time. At two over-par he will be here for the weekend. Unlike | :18:30. | :18:36.
compatriot Bradley Neill, who had a steep learning curve on his debut. | :18:37. | :18:43.
From 9-over par, there was no way back this time around. And if you've | :18:44. | :18:48.
is tough for the Tiger, you know the cause is biting back. A double bogey | :18:49. | :18:53.
six at the 1st from Woods worked out most of yesterday's good work. | :18:54. | :19:01.
Scotland should be seeing plenty of Sergio Garcia, aiming for the Ryder | :19:02. | :19:10.
Cup at Gleneagles. Let's hope he brings a few shots like that with | :19:11. | :19:14.
him. You would be smiling too if you had just eagled the par-4 second. | :19:15. | :19:20.
All smiles, too, when a particularly game pheasant tried to put a | :19:21. | :19:25.
remarkable offer. The Northern Irishman simply strengthened his | :19:26. | :19:28.
position at the top of the leaderboard. | :19:29. | :19:40.
The Celtic boss says a tie against Dublin would be ideal. That is | :19:41. | :19:50.
assuming that the Scottish champions get past KR Reykjavik. | :19:51. | :19:54.
Celtic are off on their travels again, albeit this time just | :19:55. | :19:59.
unfriendly business. A short while before, this happened. They found | :20:00. | :20:10.
out who lies in wait if they finish the job against Reykjavik. Against | :20:11. | :20:15.
Kate are Reykjavik or Celtic. With the first leg advantage, is Warsaw | :20:16. | :20:22.
more likely to be their next destination? They spend a lot of | :20:23. | :20:29.
money on a big club and got a 1-1 at home. I am sure at Saint pats will | :20:30. | :20:38.
be highly motivated to play Celtic. They did in 1998, Celtic winning | :20:39. | :20:44.
these Champions League final by 2-1. They looked likely to make it | :20:45. | :20:48.
through to a rematch but all of Scotland's representatives are in | :20:49. | :20:49.
with a chance. We would love everyone to qualify. | :20:50. | :20:59.
It would be great for the whole country. We want us all doing well | :21:00. | :21:03.
in Europe. Collectively as a country it is better for us all. Celtic have | :21:04. | :21:09.
led the way for Scotland in Europe in recent times. What chance all | :21:10. | :21:14.
four Scots team is taking place in the next round? | :21:15. | :21:17.
Time for a look at what else is happening across Scottish sport. | :21:18. | :21:22.
At the German Grand Prix, Scotland's | :21:23. | :21:24.
Susie Wolff impressed in First Practice. | :21:25. | :21:25.
She was just 0.227 seconds slower than Williams team-mate | :21:26. | :21:27.
But as development driver, she won't compete in the Grand Prix proper. | :21:28. | :21:31.
St Mirren's Kenny McLean says he's hoping for a more attacking role | :21:32. | :21:34.
The highly rated midfielder recently signed a new two-year deal with | :21:35. | :21:38.
Last season he scored seven Scotland's Kirsty Gilmour - she's | :21:39. | :21:47.
the one in the blue - is now second seed for the Commonwealth Games | :21:48. | :21:50.
badminton. It's after defending champion Saina Nehwal of India | :21:51. | :22:04.
On Sunday we have an in-depth preview of the Games. | :22:05. | :22:07.

That is how the sport looks tonight. The Queen's Commonwealth Baton is | :22:13. | :22:28.
still on his travels, making its way to Celtic Park, destination for next | :22:29. | :22:32.
Wednesday's opening ceremony. Tonight is -- it is at Clydebank, | :22:33. | :22:40.
and so is our weatherman. Perfect timing, it has just arrived | :22:41. | :22:44.
on the canal. You can probably see it behind me. Celebrations on going | :22:45. | :22:48.
this evening. Music and entertainment. It has had quite an | :22:49. | :22:54.
adventurous day travelling throughout western Dumbartonshire. | :22:55. | :22:56.
My colleague has been following the journey. | :22:57. | :22:59.
If you are a world-class climate propping up the bike you would want | :23:00. | :23:03.
to those that you had climbed Dumbarton Rock. It is renowned for | :23:04. | :23:07.
some of the toughest climbs to be found anywhere. Dave MacLeod is the | :23:08. | :23:11.
man who conquered the worst here but today, nominated for his work | :23:12. | :23:15.
promoting the sport, he took the relatively easy route up. If you are | :23:16. | :23:21.
a young athlete, Scotland is one of the best countries in the world. A | :23:22. | :23:26.
country full of great mountains, cliffs and climbing walls. Another | :23:27. | :23:29.
daredevil on the way down, Robert Watts abseiling down the iconic | :23:30. | :23:38.
River Clyde Titan crane. Magnificent. The feeling at the | :23:39. | :23:41.
moment just kind of takes you over and so much excitement. It was a | :23:42. | :23:48.
real rush to be involved. I feel privileged. A more sedate journey | :23:49. | :23:52.
across the waters of Loch Lomond this afternoon. As you can see, the | :23:53. | :23:58.
baton is arriving on the shores of Loch Lomond. The next carrier is | :23:59. | :24:10.
Stuart. 34 years ago today I won a medal in Edinburgh. A quite good | :24:11. | :24:16.
medal. A gold medal for the 8000 metres. It has been a fantastic day | :24:17. | :24:24.
with the baton again. Lots of spectacular sites. This weekend, it | :24:25. | :24:28.
is heading over to East Dunbartonshire for Sunday, that is | :24:29. | :24:33.
the big day, when the baton finally arrives in Glasgow with just a few | :24:34. | :24:34.
days until big, well games. Still a party atmosphere here, | :24:35. | :24:50.
plenty of fireworks going on. The weather is not bad either. This | :24:51. | :24:55.
evening and overnight it is still cloudy and just a little bit muddy. | :24:56. | :25:01.
If we take a look at a map from around 7pm, we can see the showers | :25:02. | :25:11.
continuing to move North. A legacy of cloud behind and it will be misty | :25:12. | :25:16.
at times with low cloud down the East coast. Uncomfortably warm. By | :25:17. | :25:19.
the end of the night, temperatures in towns still 16 or 17 Celsius. For | :25:20. | :25:25.
tomorrow, a weather warning in force for them to rearrange. To start off | :25:26. | :25:30.
with, fairly cloudy, a bit misty and murky at times and through the | :25:31. | :25:34.
boarding towards lunch time and the afternoon, areas of the injury rain | :25:35. | :25:40.
will move northwards. We cannot take the graphics to literally for the | :25:41. | :25:46.
heaviest downpours but do be prepared for difficult conditions on | :25:47. | :25:54.
the roads at times. The location on the map is not exact. The rain | :25:55. | :25:59.
moving northwards. For the North West and Highlands and Islands, the | :26:00. | :26:03.
driest here. For the Northern Isles later on, dry. For the eastern side, | :26:04. | :26:09.
rain on and off. Still chilly on the coast. You are hill walking in the | :26:10. | :26:20.
North West Highlands, some cloud and wind and rain. The weather tends to | :26:21. | :26:27.
dry up as we head towards the latter stages of the dead. The rest of the | :26:28. | :26:30.
afternoon and evening into overnight, the rain moving | :26:31. | :26:34.
northwards, against and in nature at times. By the 7/2 of the weekend, | :26:35. | :26:38.
let's take a look at the pressure chart. Still influenced by low | :26:39. | :26:43.
pressure and you can make out that weather front bringing the injury | :26:44. | :26:46.
outbreaks across the North East. The detail for Sunday likely to be damp | :26:47. | :26:50.
across the North East of the country. Aberdeenshire up towards | :26:51. | :26:52.
the Northern Isles. Elsewhere, cannot rule at the risk of a light | :26:53. | :26:59.
shower but bright spells otherwise. As we had through to the stars of | :27:00. | :27:03.
the next week on Monday, we continued the theme of settling the | :27:04. | :27:07.
weather down. Still a bit damp across the North East of the country | :27:08. | :27:11.
but elsewhere sunshine around and with light wind, quite pleasant. | :27:12. | :27:16.
That is the forecast. The entertainment and celebrations are | :27:17. | :27:17.
ongoing for a few hours. A reminder of the main news. | :27:18. | :27:29.
President Obama says the Malaysia Airlines plane was shot down by a | :27:30. | :27:33.
surface to air missile fired from an area of Ukraine controlled by | :27:34. | :27:37.
Russian backed separatists. 298 people were killed, ten of them | :27:38. | :27:40.
British. And a man has been charged with killing a well-known Glasgow | :27:41. | :27:45.
gangster outside a busy supermarket. 34-year-old William | :27:46. | :27:49.
Paterson is accused of murdering Kevin Carroll in the North of the | :27:50. | :27:54.
city more than four years ago. That is all for now. I will be back with | :27:55. | :27:59.
the headlines at 8pm and the late bulletin just after the ten o'clock | :28:00. | :28:01.
news. Have a good evening. | :28:02. | :28:07. |
