A body has been recovered by rescue teams after a man fell

There were reports last night that a man,

thought to be a fisherman in his mid-60s, had gone into the water.

Divers from police Scotland recovered the body at around 1pm

this afternoon. It was brought ashore by rescue boat just over half

an hour later. The alarm was raised last night when a man thought to be

in his late 60s fell into the water on the eastern side of Loch Lomond.

The recovery operation involving all of the emergency services resumed

this morning. The great Scottish swim which was taking place at Luss

on the other side of the Lough went ahead as planned. Police say they

are now trying to identify the body and the thank all members of the

public and all of the agencies who took part in the search. Emergency

services say this has been a tragedy but there is some satisfaction that

at least by working together they have recovered the man's body so

family and friends can mourn him properly.

The future of the National Health Service has dominated

Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon was in Glasgow arguing that

a Yes vote was needed to protect the NHS from Westminster cuts.

Meanwhile, in Edinburgh, former First Minister Jack McConnell,

argued that a No vote would give Scotland the best of both worlds.
