pounds in childcare costs. Speaking in Edinburgh this morning, | :01:10. | :01:11.
he said only a Yes vote would ensure But Prime Minister David Cameron | :01:12. | :01:14.
says childcare is already devolved to Scotland | :01:15. | :01:20.
and that changes could be made now. This report from our political | :01:21. | :01:23.
correspondent Lucy Adams We've had the hard sell, now it's | :01:24. | :01:41.
the soft sell. It's not the children, but the adults coming to | :01:42. | :01:52.
soft play centres like this one that the yes campaign still has to | :01:53. | :02:07.
persuade. Polls suggest women are more likely to vote No than men, and | :02:08. | :02:25.
today, the Yes campaign is announcing new updated figures which | :02:26. | :02:30.
they say would mean the parents of one-year-olds saving up to ?5,000 on | :02:31. | :02:33.
childcare costs, and those with two, three and four-year-olds saving | :02:34. | :02:38.
?2000. Their pledge is that by the end of the first parliament, all | :02:39. | :02:40.
three and four-year-olds, and half of two-year-olds, will get almost | :02:41. | :02:42.
double the current levels of childcare. But how would they pay | :02:43. | :02:45.
for this? In order to fund a revolution in | :02:46. | :02:50.
childcare and nursery education and provision, which we see as central | :02:51. | :02:54.
to the future of Scotland, we must control the other side of the | :02:55. | :02:57.
balance sheet. We have the benefit from the parents, the mums and dads | :02:58. | :03:00.
who get back into the workforce, start paying taxes, and we have to | :03:01. | :03:02.
get hold of these taxes so we can fund this policy for the future of | :03:03. | :03:04.
Scotland. But members of the Better Together | :03:05. | :03:09.
campaign have described it as a con, because childcare is already | :03:10. | :03:13.
devolved to Holyrood. They say it is an argument about investment in | :03:14. | :03:14.
childcare, not independence. As part of the United Kingdom, you | :03:15. | :03:16.
will also get the tax relief on childcare that the Treasury for the | :03:17. | :03:17.
whole of the United Kingdom is introducing next year, and that | :03:18. | :03:18.
could be worth up to ?2000 per child for hard-working Scottish | :03:19. | :03:19.
taxpayers. For some parents, childcare is an | :03:20. | :03:21.
important issue. I have two young children, and at | :03:22. | :03:22.
the moment I am not working, because I can't afford the childcare to get | :03:23. | :03:24.
back into work. Having more hours would make a massive difference to | :03:25. | :03:26.
me and help me get back to work. But some want to stay home with | :03:27. | :03:30.
their children. I quite like spending this time | :03:31. | :03:33.
watching them grow before they move on to school. I have got a little | :03:34. | :03:39.
boy who has just started primary one, and I have had all that time | :03:40. | :03:42.
with him. Both campaigns now need to reach | :03:43. | :03:47.
everyone they can, young and old. There is less than three weeks | :03:48. | :03:50.
before the vote, so there is No time for play. | :03:51. | :03:52.
The Labour MP Jim Murphy says he's suspending his Better Together tour | :03:53. | :03:55.
of Scotland, because of what he described as "coordinated | :03:56. | :03:58.
Eggs were thrown at him yesterday as he spoke to a crowd in Kirkcaldy. | :03:59. | :04:05.
Tonight, Yes Scotland said it condemned all forms of abusive, | :04:06. | :04:08.
Here's our Home Affairs correspondent Reevel Alderson. | :04:09. | :04:19.
Old-fashioned campaigning on the stump. But Jim Murphy's message | :04:20. | :04:39.
isn't universally welcomed. I will not be silenced! But after this, he | :04:40. | :04:42.
has taken the decision to come off the road for three days. | :04:43. | :04:45.
The former Scottish Secretary was intending to take the Better | :04:46. | :04:48.
Together messaged to 100 towns across the country, and at first his | :04:49. | :04:58.
soapbox campaign and opposition to it was relatively low-key. But | :04:59. | :05:05.
Better Together has been gathering what it says is evidence that this | :05:06. | :05:07.
19th-century campaigning style is being thwarted by 21st-century | :05:08. | :05:09.
technology. I have been out and about across | :05:10. | :05:10.
Scotland, and the first meetings were great. They were passionate | :05:11. | :05:13.
people on both sides, but in the past ten days or so, the Yes | :05:14. | :05:20.
Scotland campaign has organised mobs to turn up at every meeting that I | :05:21. | :05:22.
am taking part in to try to silence undecided voters and to try and | :05:23. | :05:25.
intimidate me. The Yes campaign says robust debate | :05:26. | :05:31.
is to be welcomed, but it's condemned what it calls | :05:32. | :05:34.
inappropriate behaviour which has targeted figures on both sides of | :05:35. | :05:36.
the argument. If there is any evidence that people | :05:37. | :05:39.
had been acting inappropriately, action will be taken, and we would | :05:40. | :05:43.
expect the same from those on the No campaign site as well. But that's | :05:44. | :05:54.
not misrepresent what is happening across the country, which is a | :05:55. | :05:55.
lively, constructive and mature debate, and that is the way we want | :05:56. | :05:57.
to keep it. Police Scotland say they are | :05:58. | :05:59.
investigating yesterday's egg attack on Jim Murphy. | :06:00. | :06:01.
A man has been convicted of behaving in a threatening or | :06:02. | :06:03.
abusive manner towards the First Minister Alex Salmond. | :06:04. | :06:05.
26-year-old Christopher Stevenson from Glasgow wrote on Twitter | :06:06. | :06:08.
"I think I might assassinate Alex Salmond" while watching | :06:09. | :06:12.
Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that he was reported to police | :06:13. | :06:17.
by an American tourist who had seen the post online. | :06:18. | :06:20.
When questioned by police, Stevenson claimed it had been a joke. | :06:21. | :06:23.
Sentence has been deferred for a year for good behaviour. | :06:24. | :06:28.
Rangers have warned that the future of the club is uncertain if a new | :06:29. | :06:32.
The club says it wants to raise ?4 million from existing investors, | :06:33. | :06:37.
but if it can't, it won't be able to pay its creditors. | :06:38. | :06:41.
Our business correspondent David Henderson is here now. | :06:42. | :06:44.
David, how serious is the situation for Rangers? | :06:45. | :06:46.
Well, what you see on the pitch suggests Rangers are in good shape. | :06:47. | :06:52.
They've signed new players - Kris Boyd, Kenny Miller. | :06:53. | :06:55.
They're near the top of the Scottish Championship. | :06:56. | :06:58.
But off the pitch, it's a different story. | :06:59. | :07:00.
Rangers owners are having to work hard to rebuild the club. | :07:01. | :07:05.
And that's a real struggle, in part because there's been | :07:06. | :07:08.
The number's down by about 17,000 on last year. | :07:09. | :07:19.
And that leaves a big hole in the club's finances. | :07:20. | :07:21.
So today, they've said they want to raise ?4 million from shareholders - | :07:22. | :07:27.
from people who already have a stake in the club. | :07:28. | :07:31.
They need much of this for working capital, in other words, to meet | :07:32. | :07:35.
the running costs, to pay the wages, to keep the lights on at Ibrox. | :07:36. | :07:39.
They're confident they can do that, but the warning today is that | :07:40. | :07:42.
if they don't get this money, the company won't be able to pay | :07:43. | :07:46.
its debts and its future will be in doubt. | :07:47. | :07:55.
Right now, they are spending more money than they are actually earning | :07:56. | :08:02.
in terms of ticket sales. Season ticket sales are down on the prior | :08:03. | :08:12.
year, which has made the situation worse. This is just paying the day | :08:13. | :08:15.
today at going is at the club, and now they have indicated, if they | :08:16. | :08:16.
don't raise this money, they will need to raise emergency funding, | :08:17. | :08:17.
otherwise, the viability of the company is under question if they | :08:18. | :08:22.
can't get funds from somewhere to pay the day-to-day expenses. | :08:23. | :08:23.
So if Rangers can raise this ?4 million, are their problems solved? | :08:24. | :08:24.
No, because the money won't last for long. | :08:25. | :08:28.
It should tide the club over until its Annual General Meeting, | :08:29. | :08:30.
which must take place in the next few months. | :08:31. | :08:32.
But Rangers bosses say they also need to raise much more to keep them | :08:33. | :08:36.
going until the end of this financial year, | :08:37. | :08:38.
and then another ?20-30 million over the next three years. | :08:39. | :08:45.
So the club could face a long haul to get back to financial health. | :08:46. | :08:51.
And what the current owners will now be desperate to avoid is the sort | :08:52. | :08:54.
of cash flow crisis which can force a company out | :08:55. | :08:58.
of business, or which wrenches the club out of their control. | :08:59. | :09:06.
David Henderson, thank you very much. | :09:07. | :09:08.
You're watching Reporting Scotland from the BBC. | :09:09. | :09:10.
Still to come on tonight's programme: | :09:11. | :09:11.
He won Commonwealth gold - now Ross Murdoch has another big | :09:12. | :09:14.
moment in the pool as he meets his biggest fan. | :09:15. | :09:22.
And in sport, don't panic, says Celtic's chief executive. He defends | :09:23. | :09:28.
the club's signing policy and its manager. And No more drama, No more | :09:29. | :09:36.

The mother of a man murdered in an Edinburgh street has begged | :09:39. | :09:40.
members of the local community to help catch her son's killers. | :09:41. | :09:42.
Lynn Morrison's son Robbie was stabbed last Friday in | :09:43. | :09:44.
Detectives say they're convinced local people know what happened to | :09:45. | :09:49.
the 31-year-old and have set up a confidential phone line to encourage | :09:50. | :09:52.
Police on the streets of Wester Hailes to reassure locals following | :09:53. | :10:06.
Robbie Morrison's violent death, but also to encourage them to open up. | :10:07. | :10:11.
One week on, and there are still gaps in the investigation. Who | :10:12. | :10:16.
attacked the 31-year-old and why? Questions for detectives and his | :10:17. | :10:19.
mother Lynne. I just beg anyone to come forward if | :10:20. | :10:24.
they have any information. I really need to put my son 's arrest. -- to | :10:25. | :10:33.
put my son to rest. I am pleading with anyone who knows something to | :10:34. | :10:37.
come forward. There must be mothers here who have children that know how | :10:38. | :10:40.
I feel. Robbie Morrison lived a few miles | :10:41. | :10:44.
away, but last Friday afternoon, he had come here to Wester Hailes when | :10:45. | :10:48.
he was seriously assaulted in this street. After being stabbed and | :10:49. | :10:53.
beaten by two men, he managed to struggle 300 yards along a nearby | :10:54. | :10:57.
path, where he collapsed. Father to a three-year-old, who died | :10:58. | :11:01.
in hospital days later. Detectives say one of the men they are looking | :11:02. | :11:04.
for was riding a mountain bike, but they need more information. | :11:05. | :11:10.
We've had a good response from some areas, but we know there is a whole | :11:11. | :11:13.
lot more people out there that know exactly what has happened here, and | :11:14. | :11:16.
that is the point of today, to engage with them, to point out we | :11:17. | :11:19.
need them to come forward so we can act on their information. | :11:20. | :11:23.
Confidential tax and phone lines have been set up as police search | :11:24. | :11:27.

this community. A date has been set for a hearing | :11:29. | :11:29.
in which the Crown will apply A look at other stories from | :11:30. | :11:34.
across the country now. A man has been taken to hospital | :11:35. | :11:36.
after his car crashed into a house The accident happened | :11:37. | :11:40.
around 8 o'clock this morning. The man was taken to | :11:41. | :11:43.
Aberdeen Royal Infirmary suffering The car also hit power lines | :11:44. | :11:45.
on the roadside. A crash between | :11:46. | :11:54.
an Edinburgh tram and a bus caused major disruption in the city centre | :11:55. | :11:57.
during this morning's rush hour. No one was injured | :11:58. | :11:59.
in the collision close to Haymarket It took recovery teams more than two | :12:00. | :12:01.

tackling a blaze The fire broke out in Rosemount | :12:06. | :12:11.

evacuated from buildings nearby. Council and housing association | :12:22. | :12:23.
tenants will now be able to get more information about how well | :12:24. | :12:30.
their landlord is performing. The Scottish Housing Regulator is | :12:31. | :12:33.

We have just had a 100th episode, so that was really the launch pad which | :13:40. | :13:45.
allow beginners to get enthusiastic about understanding of family | :13:46. | :13:48.
history, and seeing the stories that can come from understanding your | :13:49. | :13:49.
ancestors. Members of Team Scotland are | :13:50. | :13:53.
in Edinburgh tonight for a celebration of their achievements | :13:54. | :13:56.
at the Commonwealth Games. Our Games reporter Lisa Summers is | :13:57. | :13:58.
at the City Chambers for us tonight. It's hard to believe it is nearly a | :13:59. | :14:07.
month since the Commonwealth Games ended. Today is a chance for those | :14:08. | :14:11.
athletes who hail from Edinburgh to get a chance to meet some of the | :14:12. | :14:15.
fans and also for the city to say thank you for their successes and | :14:16. | :14:19.
efforts during the games. Joining me RA couple of gold medallist. We have | :14:20. | :14:23.
Euan Burton, judo gold-medal list, and Josh Taylor, who won a gold | :14:24. | :14:28.
medal in boxing. It has been almost a month. Has it been for you? It was | :14:29. | :14:34.
kind of back to earth with a bump for me. The Monday after the closing | :14:35. | :14:38.
ceremony, I was still in Glasgow doing some stuff with the BBC, and | :14:39. | :14:42.
then on the Tuesday, I was back to work and did a 13 hour shift. So it | :14:43. | :14:46.
is pretty much back to work for me and back to trying to prepare the | :14:47. | :14:48.
next generation of athletes coming through for judo Scotland to make | :14:49. | :14:52.
sure that they can replicate our success at the Commonwealth Games | :14:53. | :14:55.
and go even better at World Championships and Olympics in the | :14:56. | :14:59.
future. One of the sports we clearly remember, because we did so well in | :15:00. | :15:03.
judo. Have you already seen that filtering through our Grassroots? | :15:04. | :15:06.
Now you have officially retired, you are really working with the elite | :15:07. | :15:10.
athletes, but is it starting to come through at grassroots level? I think | :15:11. | :15:13.
so. More and more people are interested in the sport. We want to | :15:14. | :15:17.
see judo being one of those kind of core sports in Scotland that people | :15:18. | :15:21.
think of as a Scottish sport. People think of boxing that way. It is | :15:22. | :15:24.
really a Scottish sport. Everybody wants their kids to learn how to | :15:25. | :15:29.
cycle and to swim, but we think the judo has a lot to offer people, not | :15:30. | :15:33.
just in performance, but all the way through the pathway, and we would | :15:34. | :15:36.
love to see in the future that it was one of those Scottish sports | :15:37. | :15:39.
that is really thought about in a higher regard in the future for | :15:40. | :15:44.
Scotland. Jos, for you, you have had a few weeks off, but pretty much | :15:45. | :15:48.
back to training now? You had to training now? You at least at the | :15:49. | :15:51.
new Audi Olympics two Yes, back to Sheffield for training next week. I | :15:52. | :15:56.
am going to feel the pace there. I will hopefully be able to focus on | :15:57. | :16:00.
Rio in two years. Have you had a real chance to sit down and let it | :16:01. | :16:04.
all sink in? It all seems to disappear like a puff of smoke. | :16:05. | :16:09.
Definitely. The last couple of weeks I have still been on cloud nine and | :16:10. | :16:12.
invited to different football games and guests here and there, and it | :16:13. | :16:17.
still does not feel real. But last week was the first chance I had to | :16:18. | :16:21.
sort of sit down and let it all sink in. It was brilliant. All the best | :16:22. | :16:25.
with the training for the Olympics, and thank you for talking to us | :16:26. | :16:29.
today. You can see behind me, quite a lot of the other athletes are | :16:30. | :16:32.
enjoying meeting the fans, getting selfie is taken and that sort of | :16:33. | :16:35.
thing, and in a few moments, they will head into a reception at the | :16:36. | :16:40.
city Chambers, and they will be attending the junk Edinburgh sports | :16:41. | :16:44.
awards, where we might see some of the new generation of sports stars. | :16:45. | :16:46.
Celtic's chief executive says the club won't panic | :16:47. | :16:49.
following their failure to qualify for the Champions league. | :16:50. | :16:52.
Peter Lawwell's standing by the manager Ronny Deila, saying | :16:53. | :16:54.
He's also been defending the club's transfer policy - but | :16:55. | :17:00.
admits there have been more failures than success in recent times. | :17:01. | :17:05.
He was speaking to our senior football reporter Alasdair Lamont. | :17:06. | :17:16.
Today's Europa League draw lacked the star quality of its Champions | :17:17. | :17:21.
League equivalent. Celtic want this to be a new chapter, but still, the | :17:22. | :17:25.
memory of what might have been wants the club. Fan discontent pointed to | :17:26. | :17:30.
a lack of spending on the team will stop not so, says the man copping | :17:31. | :17:34.
the flak. Everything that comes in in terms of | :17:35. | :17:36.
ticket sales, merchandise, player sales, is reinvested in transfers, | :17:37. | :17:43.
player wages, and running the club. Would you accent that in the last | :17:44. | :17:46.
year or so, that policy has been more miss than hit in terms of the | :17:47. | :17:50.
guys you have brought in and their impact on the squad? | :17:51. | :17:52.
Recently, it is a valid point. Have we replaced what is left, | :17:53. | :17:58.
particularly in the striker department with as good quality? I | :17:59. | :18:03.
think that would be a question. That is not, again, down to the lack of | :18:04. | :18:07.
intent to do that, or the lack of money available to do that. It was | :18:08. | :18:12.
just judgement calls at the time. One factor shaping Celtic's policy | :18:13. | :18:16.
is the lack of domestic competition in the absence of Rangers. That has | :18:17. | :18:21.
meant less TV money and No league sponsor. In this third year, we have | :18:22. | :18:26.
suffered more than any other club, no question. | :18:27. | :18:30.
I think that has been forgotten. Expectations remain the same. So I | :18:31. | :18:35.
think the third year is more difficult than the first year. We | :18:36. | :18:41.
need competition in Scotland, no matter where it comes from. We need | :18:42. | :18:46.
meaningful games. In the meantime, Ronny Deila has the | :18:47. | :18:49.
chief executive's backing as Celtic tries to get back on track. | :18:50. | :18:51.
Andy Murray's through to last 32 of the US Open. | :18:52. | :18:53.
He beat the German Matthias Bachinger | :18:54. | :18:55.
There were no signs of the severe cramp that affected Murray | :18:56. | :18:58.
in his first round match either, much to the 2012 champion's relief. | :18:59. | :19:01.
Kheredine Idessane reports from New York. | :19:02. | :19:10.
For the home crowd, caught 17 is the place to be. They are here to see CC | :19:11. | :19:17.
Belisol the 15-year-old American who has become the youngest woman to win | :19:18. | :19:22.
a match here since Anacona Gomez back in 1996. Of course, ten years | :19:23. | :19:27.
ago, Scotland had its very own teen sensation who stormed through to win | :19:28. | :19:30.
the US open juniors. I wonder what happened to him? | :19:31. | :19:35.
Yes, and Olympic Cauldron Apple, two grand slams and exactly one decade | :19:36. | :19:39.
later, Andy Murray was once again looking to make a big impression on | :19:40. | :19:42.
the US open, and he did not disappoint, going through his full | :19:43. | :19:46.
repertoire of tricks against the German qualifier, who played well, | :19:47. | :19:50.
but just could not live with the superiority of the Scot. A straight | :19:51. | :19:55.
sets win, a big improvement on his first-round victory. | :19:56. | :19:58.
Physically, I felt fine tonight. I was in a lot better condition, so | :19:59. | :20:02.
that helped. It was very windy tonight as well. I recovered well. I | :20:03. | :20:07.
woke up on Tuesday and Wednesday feeling fine, and practised well. | :20:08. | :20:15.
, Russia's Andrii Kuzmenko on Saturday. Here's a top-level player, | :20:16. | :20:21.
and he is a great player, and he dealt with it is not going to be | :20:22. | :20:24.
easy for me. Still, I think I will have some chances. The question is | :20:25. | :20:31.
whether I will use them or not. It is just nice to have no issues in | :20:32. | :20:37.
the match this evening, and get a good night's sleep tonight, get | :20:38. | :20:39.
ready for the next round. Now, a look at what else is | :20:40. | :20:41.
happening across Scottish sport. A round of seven under par at the | :20:42. | :20:50.
Italian open keeps Stephen Gallagher in with a slim chance of an | :20:51. | :20:53.
automatic Ryder Cup slot. He needs to finish in the top two to make the | :20:54. | :20:57.
European team. He is eight behind the leader. | :20:58. | :21:00.
Calum MacLeod has agreed a new five-year deal with Celtic. The | :21:01. | :21:04.
21-year-old has broken into the team this season. | :21:05. | :21:07.
I'm delighted to be part of such a big club like Celtic, and I'm just | :21:08. | :21:10.
really looking forward to keeping going, trying to play games and do | :21:11. | :21:13.
well for the club. Danny Lennon, who led Saint Mirren | :21:14. | :21:19.
two League Cup success in 2013, says he would fancy becoming manager of | :21:20. | :21:23.
Ross County. Dermot dealt with former Ross County Assistant Niall | :21:24. | :21:27.
Cooper is also interested in the vacancy. | :21:28. | :21:29.
Scotland's Kim Little has been named the most valuable player in the | :21:30. | :21:33.
women's National soccer league. She scored 16 goals in 23 matches. | :21:34. | :21:38.
There is more on all today's stories on the BBC sport website. It is | :21:39. | :21:39.
available seven days a It started with a letter from | :21:40. | :21:46.
a five-year-old boy to his swimming hero, the 200-metre Commonwealth | :21:47. | :21:48.
Gold medallist Ross Murdoch. But it took a Twitter appeal | :21:49. | :21:50.
from Ross to find out how to contact Today Brian Fitzpatrick met up with | :21:51. | :21:54.
Ross Murdoch at a pool in Stirling and even got | :21:55. | :22:00.
the chance to swim with him. Finally, the big moment has arrived. | :22:01. | :22:13.
Five-year-old Brian meets his hero, Ross. Time for a look at that | :22:14. | :22:22.
letter. Is this me? Do hold it as well. So that is me? And is this | :22:23. | :22:29.
you? And a hold of the gold-medal. I put out the appeal, and in under 24 | :22:30. | :22:33.
hours, we had managed to track down his folks, so it was a bit mental, | :22:34. | :22:37.
but I'm glad we managed to find Brian. Then it was down to business. | :22:38. | :22:45.
And it is into the pool. When we came here on Wednesday to help Ross | :22:46. | :22:48.
try to find Brian, we did not think we would be doing this today. | :22:49. | :22:53.
And now, the moment we've all been waiting for. The race. | :22:54. | :23:04.
What did it feel like to beat the Commonwealth gold medallist? Doing | :23:05. | :23:24.
your favourite stroke? My favourite stroke was the breaststroke. Oh, | :23:25. | :23:28.
breaststroke is your favourite. Were you doing the front roll there? And | :23:29. | :23:36.
you won't? Yes. How does that feel? Good. He likes to use backward | :23:37. | :23:40.
swordfish, but he pulled out a sneaky front crawl at the last | :23:41. | :23:44.
minute, and got his hand on the wall first! And all this from that letter | :23:45. | :23:48.
from Brian. Ross' biggest fan. We didn't have a | :23:49. | :23:51.
clue. We thought he was doodling on the | :23:52. | :23:55.
floor. He asked his mum for help with spelling and she gave in it. | :23:56. | :23:59.
The next thing we know, he asked for a stamp, which was a bit awkward, | :24:00. | :24:04.
because it was on a bank slip some important information on. We scanned | :24:05. | :24:07.
it and post it, and we are delighted, because we still have the | :24:08. | :24:10.
original. He is a great little kid, one of the | :24:11. | :24:14.
best I have seen at age five. I taught swimming by over three years, | :24:15. | :24:17.
and it took me a long time to get kids aged five to do what he has | :24:18. | :24:21.
done today. Will you be a Commonwealth champion? | :24:22. | :24:28.
A day to remember, and Brian is definitely one to watch in the | :24:29. | :24:36.
future as well. He is really good! Well done, Brian. | :24:37. | :24:38.
Let's get all the weekend weather now, from Christopher. | :24:39. | :24:44.
Hello. Certainly some rain around today, a lot in places, but a slow | :24:45. | :24:50.
improvement this evening. The rain tends to fizzle and fade away, wind | :24:51. | :24:55.
easing down as well. Across the north-west, some wet weather | :24:56. | :24:59.
overnight, and still fairly cloudy even if you don't have the rain, so | :25:00. | :25:03.
certainly not a cold night, temperatures in towns and cities in | :25:04. | :25:08.
double digits. To the weekend, and low pressure still implementing | :25:09. | :25:10.
conditions, pulling away towards the north-east, introducing a westerly | :25:11. | :25:14.
flow of air, and bringing in a number of showers through the | :25:15. | :25:20.
morning. Then, it tends to improve. We will hold onto those showers | :25:21. | :25:25.
across the North West, and may be down towards Kintyre. Most of | :25:26. | :25:28.
central and southern Scotland is dry, fairly cloudy, but that will | :25:29. | :25:32.
thin we will see some bright and even sunny spells coming through. By | :25:33. | :25:36.
mid-afternoon across central and southern parts, dry, one or two | :25:37. | :25:40.
light showers, temperatures up to 18 degrees. Further north, in towards | :25:41. | :25:45.
the Highlands and Islands, Marie, Northern Aberdeenshire and the | :25:46. | :25:46.
Northern Isles, showers fairly frequent, loudly, and the odd bright | :25:47. | :25:52.
glimpse at times. If you are hillwalking or climbing tomorrow, a | :25:53. | :25:59.
number of heavy showers around. Further south, drier weather and | :26:00. | :26:02.
brighter skies, wind veering west to leave the further south you come. A | :26:03. | :26:06.
similar story across the eastern ranges. The best of any brighter | :26:07. | :26:10.
weather to the south-east. Temperatures there at Munro levels | :26:11. | :26:18.
or the summits. Good visibility in the inshore waters. Around the Firth | :26:19. | :26:24.
of Forth on Firth of Tay, a force for to force five Breeze, good | :26:25. | :26:31.
season good visibility. Into the afternoon and overnight, showers | :26:32. | :26:36.
continued to fizzle and fade a way. On Sunday, it gets up to a dry and | :26:37. | :26:41.
bright start, some sunshine around, and holding onto those conditions in | :26:42. | :26:45.
the east. In the West, clouding over, with wet weather arriving | :26:46. | :26:49.
through the day. If we look at the pressure chart, we can see that is | :26:50. | :26:53.
connected to this area of high pressure towards Iceland, but it is | :26:54. | :26:57.
moving away and taking that weather front with it as we head towards | :26:58. | :27:00.
next week, a lambing this area of high pressure to build. At times, | :27:01. | :27:06.
after what has been a rather autumnal August, September getting | :27:07. | :27:10.
off to a more summary start. Dry, settled in the sunshine, and 20 | :27:11. | :27:11.
degrees or more. Now, | :27:12. | :27:16.
a reminder of tonight's main news. The UK's terror threat level has | :27:17. | :27:18.
been raised from 'substantial' to 'severe' in response to | :27:19. | :27:20.
the conflicts in Syria and Iraq. The Prime Minister promised new | :27:21. | :27:23.
legislation to make it easier to take passports away | :27:24. | :27:25.
from people who travel abroad to The First Minister Alex Salmond has | :27:26. | :27:27.
claimed that independence will save I'll be back with the headlines | :27:28. | :27:32.
at 8 and the late bulletin just Until then, from everyone on | :27:33. | :27:38.
the team, have a very good evening. | :27:39. | :27:44. |
