Scots holiday-makers stranded in Sharm el-Sheikh have started

They were stranded in the Egyptian resort

after flights were suspended over security concerns, but it's thought

many other people from Scotland are still trying to get back home.

Happy to be back. These holiday-makers arrived at Glasgow

Airport just before midnight. They've been stranded in Sharm

el-Sheikh since the UK Government's suspended flights on Wednesday after

a suspected terrorist attack on a Russian plane Egypt. Limited flights

have resumed. On their return, these passengers told of chaotic scenes at

Sharm el-Sheikh airport. It is like being held as a hostage because you

go five steps, and you have to go back. You go to the next bit, and

they are sending you back. Everybody was upset because there was a lot of

young children and parents crying because they were told to come to

the airport and then to go away. It was chaotic. We were one of the

lucky ones manage to get through OK. Others had no complaints. It felt

so. The Egyptian people are fantastic. If you book a holiday, go

to Egypt. All stranded British tourists are expected to be home

within the next ten days. These holiday-makers are the lucky ones. A

number of Scots who have spoken to the BBC from Sharm el-Sheikh say

they don't expect if catch a flight home until next week.

Supporters of the two threatened Tata steel plants in North

Lanarkshire have been marching in protest at the decline of the

industry, after plans were announced to mothball the Motherwell and

The Scottish government has set up a task force to try to guarantee a

future for these remaining plants and keep them operational with its

preferred option being to find a buyer. The UK Government says it

wants to work with the EU to do all it can to support the steel

Glasgow Warriors beat Cardiff Blues Football, and,

in the Scottish Premiership, Hearts closed the gap on Celtic to

three points with a home win over Hamilton, and Aberdeen won for the

first time in five league games. In the Championship,

Rangers maintain a five point lead at the top of the

table, despite a high-scoring Hibs A statue to commemorate the

"soldier bear" who came to Scotland after the Second World War has been

unveiled in Edinburgh. The bear was adopted by Polish

troops stationed in Iran in the 1940s and went

into battle with them in Italy. After the war, he moved with

the troops to Scotland, where he spent his later years as a popular

attraction at Edinburgh Zoo. Finally, they're claiming a first,

bagpipes in space! American astronaut Kjell Lindgren

played Amazing Grace on a set of Scottish-made pipes on the

International Space Station to pay The pipes were made for Mr Lindgren

at McCallum Bagpipes in Kilmarnock. Well, it's over to Christopher now

fairly wet across the country today. The picture tonight from

weather Watch Stewart. Pretty autumnal colours but it was wet here

as well. Tonight, dry. The rain clears away with clear spells, so

chilly. Some showers merging at times in the north-west but

overnight largely dry at chilly for some, certainly across the rural

parts of Grampian. Five to seven Celsius in the cities. The winds

picking up by dawn, initially Celsius in the cities. The winds

but rain pushing in across the south and south-west and by 11am, wet

through Don Friesen Galloway. Further it east, still reasonably

dry at cloudy. Further north, some brightness coming through at this

point but clouding over later. I similar story for the far north. A

few showers. Through the afternoon, the rain tracks northwards but

thanks to the southerly winds, which are strong, a bit of shelter through

the central belt so not as wet and windy. Through the UK, you can see

largely dry. On the mild side, but, still, windy. Afternoon and the rain

gets going, it will be wet for everyone. The winds strengthen

further, veering towards the West, Gailes at times. Monday, the wet and

windy theme continues. Pretty wet, but clearing through. Later on, a

second band of rain on the way in. That is the forecast for now.
