There are regular updates throughout the night

We're being warned to prepare for a stormy end to the year.

Storm Frank is due to sweep across much of the country tomorrow.

Weather warnings have been issued for wind and then rain -

and there's the possibility of flooding in some parts.

It's a been a miserable past few days for thousands of people in the

North of England. Flooding is hit York, Manchester and large parts of

Cumbria. Scotland hasn't seen it as anything on that scale yet, but

there are Met Office went and rain warnings for the next few days.

There will be some very heavy rain around, widespread totals of 35 and

50 millimetres. Isolated valleys perhaps 100 millimetres. Dumfries

Galloway haps even more than that, perhaps 120 millimetres of rain,

particularly in Dumfries Galloway and the western borders.

These are the areas likely to be affected by the heaviest rainfall on

Wednesday. De Vries and Galloway could be worst hit. If the rainfall

is as bad as expected, what did happen?

Property value could be affected. It could be fairly widespread flooding,

large areas of southern and western Scotland. It will affect travel, and

transport as well. So you need to be aware and mindful of the confessions

on Wednesday. Poor conditions persist until Thursday as well.

Here in height at the beginning of the month and Dumfries, flooding hit

a particular high. The advice is if you're in an area that is due to be

flooded, be prepared to move and put important documents and valuables

upstairs. It's a modern to remember that these are warnings at the

moment, and not to panic. Keep checking the Sepa website to check

the progress of warnings. A man has appeared in court charged

from sales of tortures will go to Unicef specifically. On the night

there will be a special moment with Unicef on the 31st of December when

we will set off fireworks and white Edinburgh Castle blue.

Football now, and Rangers have moved three points clear at the top

of the Championship after beating their nearest challengers

with a full forecast. Certainly some stormy weather on the

way, but tonight is not going to be quite as bad. There is a band of

rain working its way eastwards across the country. Strong to gale

force wind is gradually easing for most of us, but gusts of up to 75

mph for Shetland. Temperatures of up to seven Celsius per most of us.

Tomorrow morning the last of that rain will clear, across much of the

UK through daylight hours will see fine weather. Some spells of

sunshine. It is in the afternoon you will see strengthening winds ahead

of the system spinning out in the Atlantic, that is Storm Frank, a

rapidly deepening area of low pressure that will bring stormy

conditions our way tomorrow evening. Strong to gale force of the release

on the coasts, and gusts on their Western and Northern Isles. Ahead of

that is well very heavy rain fall, a yellow warning covering much of

Scotland for that rain. In addition, a higher-level amber warning,

meaning be prepared for Dumfries Galloway, Ayrshire, as well as

pasture and Stirlingshire. That extends south into Cumbria where we

can see up to 90 millimetres of rainfall on already flood affected

ground. Somatic conditions when ever you are on Wednesday, but

particularly within that flood certain, combined with strong winds.

Some improvement on Hogmanay across Scotland, particularly in the East.

A much colder feel with wintry showers in the north and west.
