There are more than 30 flood warnings in Scotland tonight,

mainly in Aberdeenshire, Angus and Perthshire.

The Met Office has issued an amber "be prepared" warning for heavy rain

Our reporter Aileen Clarke is in Ballater, where residents hope

new barriers will prevent a repeat of last week's flood damage.

The River Dee at Ballater today and on its banks, an illustration of how

destructive it can be. At the local church this afternoon, a special

Service of Thanksgiving. The water in the river, it's thanksgiving for

the community. Donations are coming in. We can't thank everybody enough.

It's feared this community might find itself flooded again which has

led to this massive barrier being built. There is now 800 tonnes of

sand making up this barrier. The idea is if the river burst its banks

again comes over here through the golf course, the barrier will turn

it around to run back into the river down there. Even here much help from

volunteers. At 5am, we had the bags filled up for us. Local companies of

governors the machinery, drivers to physically get the bags are here. We

had wagons backed up this road. Many more people came over the weekend.

Last night Aberdeen lifeboat crew help engineers restore power line

across the river. Today work continues to check all the

properties that have been flooded and reconnect them. But it will take

more than electricity to put Ballater back on its feet. The golf

course was virtually wiped out. The caravan site is wiped out. It

doesn't leave a great deal in Ballater. We hope tourism will

continue. For those people still trying to salvage possessions from

flooded houses, the thought of more flooding is too much to bear. Very

very frightened and scared, yes. A few miles from Ballater, there are

fears for this castle after this week 's storm, it's so badly eroded

the river banks. More teacher training places

are being made available in Scotland to up the numbers of both primary

and secondary staff. An additional ?2 million should see

an additional 260 teachers. The Education Secretary Angela

Constance says priority will be given to areas where they are needed

most, such as Aberdeen and Highlands A grant of ?75,000 has been offered

to the British Red Cross It will help the charity provide

medical aid to refugees and migrants arriving on the Greek

island of Lesbos. Scotland's Gary Anderson has

retained his PDC World Championship darts title at Alexandra

Palace in London. He sealed victory over Adrian Lewis

of England with a double twelve, The 45-year-old from Eyemouth takes

evening. And very unsettled start to the week. We have an area of low

pressure south of the border. It is throwing at these weather fronts and

a driving south-easterly wind as the weather fronts rest across the

north-east of Scotland, which is why we are seeing that intense rain. The

Met office has a rolling Amber Rudd be prepared warning for parts of

Stirlingshire, Aberdeenshire, localised flooding, difficult

driving conditions. -- rolling amber warning. The wind is slightly

lighter although still noticeably windy towards the eastern coastal

areas. To the west, it brightens up with sunny spells. Particularly up

towards the north-west and also across the Western Isles. Showers

pushing in later in the day. A few showers wintry in nature.

Temperatures, 7-8. Colder across Orkney and Shetland. The rain in

eastern Scotland tomorrow night becomes lighter in the East on

Tuesday but dry in the West. That is your forecast.
