There've been commemorations in the Firth of Forth to mark

the centenary of the Battle of Jutland, the biggest naval

It involved more than 250 ships in the North Sea,

where thousands of British and German sailors died.

Today's events began at Rosyth Parish Church,

before moving across to South Queensferry.

For Elizabeth Dixon it was a day of mixed emotion. The War grave

cemetery in south Queensferry, she laid a tribute to an old family

friend who wast his life at the Battle of Jutland. Elisabeth's

father Robert on the left fork in the Battle along with his brother

Archie, also seen here. While Robert survived, RG, aged just 16, as was

killed. I don't know what it teaches one exactly, except that life goes

on, love is renewable. It is all a continuum. We are just part of it.

We come together today in remembrance and Thanksgiving to

honour all naval personnel who served in the Battle of Jutland. And

especially those who lost their lives in the service of their king

and country, and in the cause of liberty and peace. Today's Battle of

Jutland commemoration at the cemetery was attended by the First

Minister, while the Princess Royal laid a wreath on behalf of the

nation. Later, hundreds turned out to watch

the Royal Marines brand and the HMS frigates heading out to sea as the

fleet did almost exactly 100 years ago. They came before further

commemorations next Tuesday on the centenary of the Battle of Jutland.

Police are investigating the death of a man

after a street disturbance at Girvan in Ayrshire.

sunshine and a north-easterly breeze. I pressure dominates the

bank holiday, dry conditions and a lovely start to today tomorrow, clad

hail, thundering shower, but foremost it is dry, and in large 19
