The First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is travelling to the United States

She'll give a speech on international issues affecting

It comes as the Spanish Foreign Minister confirms his country

wouldn't block an attempt from an independent Scotland to join

Nicola Sturgeon is travelling to California and New York to promote

trade and investment and has stressed the importance of

Scotland's relationship with America. She will make a speech at

Stanford University, where she is expected to outline key issues that

face Scotland. Nicola Sturgeon will also make the governor of

California. Governor Brown is opposed to President Trump's denial

of global warming and it is thought he will make a joint commitment to

tackle climate change. Some argue her attention should be elsewhere.

We do have a really strong bond with the United States but to understand

she is not any official from the Government, begs to wonder. She is

meeting the governor of California. He is a very senior politician and

they will be talking climate change, a big issue. It is a big issue but

education and Scotland are up there higher than climate change right

now. If start of her trip has coincided by comments of the Spanish

Government by Scotland and the EE you. They said they would not block

any attempt for an independent Scotland to join the European Union.

The Foreign Minister says he remains opposed to independence. All the

speculation about what the Spanish Government route or would not do has

been wrong. It has been the position of the Spanish Government. That is

not actually news. At the end of this week, Nicola Sturgeon will

address the United Nations in New York. The First Minister will be

hoping this trip to America will help promote Scotland to the world,

as the world's eyes continued to be on Scotland's constitutional future.
