Tonight, we speak to the former

football starlet who says he's been

0:00:030:00:06

cheated of the chance of justice

after his alleged abuser died.

0:00:060:00:11

Plus, should politicians do

reality TV, with Kezia Dugdale

0:00:110:00:13

about to enter the jungle?

0:00:130:00:17

Welcome to Timeline,

0:00:410:00:42

and to John, who's here this week

standing in for Glenn.

0:00:420:00:47

Tonight we're looking

at the biggest bugbears

0:00:470:00:48

on a night out if you've

got a disability.

0:00:480:00:50

Also, would you know how

to save a small child from choking?

0:00:500:00:54

We speak to the heroic

nine-year-old who did just that.

0:00:540:00:58

Plus, the widow of Hollywood legend

Gene Kelly on his location

0:00:580:01:01

scouting trip to

Scotland for Brigadoon.

0:01:010:01:10

This was kind of his place and he

arrived at Central Station and there

0:01:100:01:15

was a great photograph of him as he

steps out. They got a car and drove

0:01:150:01:19

all around and Gene had scoped it

out.

People have seen me deal with

0:01:190:01:29

rats and snakes in my time but the

jungle will be tougher, I have a

0:01:290:01:32

feeling.

0:01:320:01:33

She goes into the jungle tonight -

we speak to Kezia Dugdale's former

0:01:330:01:36

advisor, and former I'm A Celeb

star Christine Hamilton,

0:01:360:01:38

about how she'll get on.

0:01:380:01:40

A man, who says he was

abused as a teenager

0:01:400:01:42

by a former football scout,

says he's devastated his alleged

0:01:420:01:45

abuser will not now stand trial,

after his death this week.

0:01:450:01:48

Levi Stephen says he's

being denied the chance of justice,

0:01:480:01:50

after the death of 84 year-old

former Rangers and Liverpool

0:01:500:01:54

scout Harry Dunn, who was awaiting

trial on historical

0:01:540:01:56

child sex abuse charges.

0:01:560:02:02

Levi has been speaking to Mark Daly.

0:02:020:02:06

Just a warning that this report

contains descriptions of sexual

0:02:060:02:12

abuse.

0:02:120:02:20

I wanted to play football. I just

wanted to play the best I could and

0:02:200:02:27

impress people.

In the 1980s, Levi

Stephen was one of the most

0:02:270:02:34

promising young talents in Scottish

football, coveted by almost every

0:02:340:02:38

major team in the UK, but as he

tried to make his way in the game he

0:02:380:02:43

loved, he carried with him a secret.

A secret he found the courage to

0:02:430:02:50

tell a BBC documentary earlier this

year. He says he had been sexually

0:02:500:02:55

abused as a 13-year-old by a

football scout.

0:02:550:02:59

I opened the door and he tripped me

up. I landed face first and he got

0:02:590:03:06

on top of me. He was trying to take

my pants down. I could feel his

0:03:060:03:13

direction in the back of my leg. I

fought him off.

0:03:130:03:21

This had been the second alleged

attack on Levi Stephen by this man,

0:03:210:03:27

Harry Dunn, for decades a scout for

several of Britain's biggest clubs

0:03:270:03:31

including Liverpool, Chelsea and

Rangers. Harry Dunn was arrested in

0:03:310:03:37

March this year on charges of sexual

assault, attempted rape and rape. He

0:03:370:03:42

was to stand trial but was found

dead at his home in Edinburgh this

0:03:420:03:45

week. Levi Stephen and the other

boys who say they were abused by

0:03:450:03:49

Harry Dunn will never see him in

court. The

I was looking forward to

0:03:490:03:56

it, so it could go ahead and I could

look in the eye and tell the truth.

0:03:560:04:01

And watch him squirm in his seat.

Had used started to visualise it?

0:04:010:04:11

Yes, I... But no, I just had a lot

of hate and frustration and anger

0:04:110:04:18

and negative thoughts in my head.

But you just have to get on with it,

0:04:180:04:24

that's life.

Do you feel cheated?

0:04:240:04:26

Of course I was cheated, but not

just me but other victims.

0:04:260:04:32

Do you feel cheated?

Do I feel cheated? I am just

0:04:320:04:38

disappointed more than she did. I am

disappointed that I can't prove it.

0:04:380:04:46

-- I am disappointed more than

cheated. I have been denied the

0:04:460:04:50

opportunity to prove what he did to

me.

0:04:500:04:52

How did you feel when you heard

there were other boys who had gone

0:04:520:04:56

through the same as what you did?

You have a guilt. Because... Because

0:04:560:05:04

of the crime was not reported when

it happened, obviously other boys

0:05:040:05:11

were interfered with. So I had a

sense of guilt there.

0:05:110:05:18

The only other person Levi says he

told was his mother. For years the

0:05:180:05:26

two kept the story Sigrid, fearing

speaking out would hurt his chances

0:05:260:05:30

of a football career, -- they kept

it secret, but the mother had been

0:05:300:05:36

ready to testify against Harry Dunn.

I felt not anger about sadness

0:05:360:05:39

because I felt my son was robbed and

all the other victims were robbed

0:05:390:05:44

and did not get their day in court

with him. I was more sad for my son.

0:05:440:05:52

It is a precious thing because what

he did, that could have destroyed

0:05:520:05:54

me. He has taken my innocence. He

has deprived me of my innocence.

0:05:540:06:05

Do you feel that because he got away

with it for so long, as you say, do

0:06:050:06:11

you feel that he has ultimately in

the end got away with it now?

0:06:110:06:21

He has definitely got away with it.

He knew... But you don't know how

0:06:210:06:27

many years he was active for. This

is one of... This is only the tip of

0:06:270:06:34

the iceberg. He abused me when he

was about 50 years old and it must

0:06:340:06:38

have happened back then, there must

be a lot of other victims. But back

0:06:380:06:43

then you just put up and shut up. I

think society now, people are

0:06:430:06:50

starting to come forward and they

are not afraid any more and they are

0:06:500:06:53

not scared. You know, it was back

then, don't show emotion...

0:06:530:07:05

Deprived of the closure of his day

in court, does Levi now regret

0:07:050:07:11

speaking out?

I will never regret speaking out.

0:07:110:07:15

Never. Maybe a wee bit sooner. It is

worth it. Yes, it would have been

0:07:150:07:22

nice to have went to court and told

the truth and got out of there, and

0:07:220:07:29

got it in the public domain so

people would know the real truth.

0:07:290:07:32

But that has been taken away. But

this is part of the healing process,

0:07:320:07:38

isn't it? He died and things

happened. What can you do? You just

0:07:380:07:46

have to get on with it. The bit more

positive... Maybe look for an avenue

0:07:460:07:53

to help others in a similar

situation.

0:07:530:08:02

If you've been affected by any

of the issues raised by this,

0:08:020:08:05

you can call the BBC Action Line.

0:08:050:08:07

The number is on

your screen now - 0800 055 055.

0:08:070:08:10

Mark is here now. That is raw

emotion. How is Levi doing now?

0:08:220:08:30

He is a tough person and then he put

a brave face on things. He will take

0:08:300:08:33

some days to process this, and he

has tough times ahead. This is a

0:08:330:08:38

thing for him which happened in

three big stages... The abuse nearly

0:08:380:08:43

30 years ago... How he had to

process it then and the decision to

0:08:430:08:47

speak out in our programme earlier

this year, and then he was building

0:08:470:08:51

up to this trial, and now this has

happened. He would not wish, though,

0:08:510:08:56

anybody to be put off coming

forward, because this is the nature

0:08:560:09:01

of how historical allegations are

investigated. It is not necessarily

0:09:010:09:04

about trying to get closure of a

conviction... Levi would say it is

0:09:040:09:14

just about speaking out and

confronting these secrets of the

0:09:140:09:16

past, coming to terms with them. And

it just speaking to someone in the

0:09:160:09:18

police, of course... But when it

comes to an elderly alleged abuser,

0:09:180:09:23

we would want anyone to come forward

as soon as possible.

0:09:230:09:27

Where are we with all the

investigations into these

0:09:270:09:30

allegations?

It is about exactly a year since

0:09:300:09:32

Police Scotland launched this

operation. This came after a single

0:09:320:09:38

allegation made by the former player

from Crewe football team and he

0:09:380:09:42

would word from a team he suffered

at the hands of Andy Bernal, this

0:09:420:09:47

trial will be next year. An update

from police got in today, in terms

0:09:470:09:51

of how many allegations they have

had, in into day 288 crimes have

0:09:510:09:55

been recorded so far, 167 reports of

information were received, and 153

0:09:550:10:02

victims in Scotland were identified.

To date 13 have been arrested and

0:10:020:10:09

charged with offences relating to

child sex abuse, and some of those

0:10:090:10:12

people will go on trial next year in

cases that we will watch closely.

0:10:120:10:18

Thank you very much indeed, Mark.

0:10:180:10:20

If you have anything you think

should be on our Timeline,

0:10:200:10:23

then it's easy to get in touch

through social media.

0:10:230:10:25

You can let us know

what you want us to follow up

0:10:250:10:28

through Facebook and Twitter,

you can find us online,

0:10:280:10:30

or you can email us.

0:10:300:10:31

Do get in touch.

0:10:310:10:32

He was the star of

Singin' In The Rain and Brigadoon,

0:10:320:10:35

among many others.

0:10:350:10:39

I always thought Brigadoon was real

but probably not.

0:10:390:10:42

Gene Kelly was one of

Hollywood's biggest names.

0:10:420:10:44

Now, decades on from his heydey,

his widow Patricia is touring two

0:10:440:10:47

special shows about his life.

0:10:470:10:48

She's been here this week

to talk about the time

0:10:480:10:50

he came to Scotland,

as he wanted Brigadoon

0:10:500:10:52

to be filmed here.

0:10:520:10:53

She's been speaking

to Pauline McLean.

0:10:530:11:03

First of all, tell me how you met

your husband.

0:11:070:11:10

That is one of the most often asked

questions. I was a nerdy Herman

0:11:100:11:15

Melville scholar and I basically

spent most of my time in a library

0:11:150:11:20

and I wanted to write a documentary

about Herman Melville and other

0:11:200:11:23

writers. The narrator ended up being

somebody named Gene Kelly and I had

0:11:230:11:28

no clue who he was, the director put

us in the room together... My study

0:11:280:11:34

in graduate school was word origins,

etymology and poetry, and this kind

0:11:340:11:40

of studies... We sat in this room

for one week quoting poetry back and

0:11:400:11:44

forth and playing word games. By the

middle of that week I had been

0:11:440:11:49

enchanted. By six months later he

called me and ultimately he asked me

0:11:490:11:52

if I would stay and write his

memoir... And I went out expecting

0:11:520:11:57

to go for two weeks and interview

him and we ended up getting married

0:11:570:12:02

five years into the process.

You had a very special access, an

0:12:020:12:07

insight into who he was. Did you

feel they wanted to share everything

0:12:070:12:11

was there are some part of it that

he would say, maybe that is not for

0:12:110:12:16

public consumption?

The reason I created the one-woman

0:12:160:12:18

show which has been touring around

the world since 2012 was to give

0:12:180:12:22

people an idea of the many

dimensions of him. He just expands

0:12:220:12:27

on their mind and they begin to

understand that he created what they

0:12:270:12:30

are seeing, and the role that he had

behind the camera which was really

0:12:300:12:35

happy which is to be remembered. I

inherited his archives, and so every

0:12:350:12:40

day I am opening a new box and

pulling out something and it is a

0:12:400:12:45

mix of emotions. You have great joy

that you find something, and then it

0:12:450:12:49

often hits with a powerful, you

know, thing in your gut. Like

0:12:490:12:57

finding a note he left around the

house.

0:12:570:12:59

You are still doing that now?

I still do and I still have many

0:12:590:13:04

boxes to go through.

The image in my head at the moment

0:13:040:13:07

is the one of him outside this very

hotel in Glasgow in the 1950s and

0:13:070:13:12

when he was going off to scout for

potential locations for Brigadoon.

0:13:120:13:16

Did he tell you about that, this

visit to Scotland?

0:13:160:13:19

He loved it and took the train, the

overnight train with a producer,

0:13:190:13:24

Arthur, the great producer of many

MGM musicals. They got a car and

0:13:240:13:30

drove around and Gene had sculpted

having figured out exactly what to

0:13:300:13:33

do. He was so disappointed that they

had to reduce it to the stage.

0:13:330:13:43

Was that down to whether and... ?

MGM was beginning to tighten up on

0:13:430:13:49

budgets and do something overseas

like this... With the variables of

0:13:490:13:55

whether... I get more mail about

Brigadoon van many of Gene 's other

0:13:550:14:02

movies. He found that the ballet

section, the dance at Heather on the

0:14:020:14:10

hell, was one of the best he ever

did on film. -- Heather on the Hill.

0:14:100:14:18

I think it connects very much to

Scotland.

0:14:180:14:21

He had his connection to Scotland

and you had your own connection to

0:14:210:14:24

Scotland because you came here

before with your show...

0:14:240:14:28

I did.

Did this make sense you would end up

0:14:280:14:30

back here with this show, working

with this?

0:14:300:14:36

It is called "Gene Kelly: A Life in

Music". People think of dance when

0:14:360:14:39

they think of him and I think of

music, how does it relate to his

0:14:390:14:42

dance? The next show, the big show

with the orchestra live on stage,

0:14:420:14:48

will actually take people into their

creative process.

0:14:480:14:52

Already we have got past that notion

that we just like the films because

0:14:520:14:55

they are bright and colourful and

upbeat and lovely but there is

0:14:550:14:59

something beyond that, isn't there

are? There is a man there on the

0:14:590:15:02

screen who has become a movie star,

and or movie person...

0:15:020:15:08

He described himself as tough but

tender a man of great integrity who

0:15:080:15:13

represents something positive about

America.

0:15:130:15:15

Nevermore needed then at the moment

as well.

0:15:150:15:19

I was pitching my show on the day

after the election last year, and I

0:15:190:15:26

just felt demoralised, and everybody

surrounded me and they were all from

0:15:260:15:29

different countries, and they said,

no, this is exactly the time and he

0:15:290:15:34

represents the best of who we are.

0:15:340:15:36

Patricia Kelly there,

who's at the Glasgow Royal

0:15:360:15:38

Concert Hall tonight.

0:15:380:15:39

And that show,

"Gene Kelly: A Life in Music",

0:15:390:15:41

is at the same venue in April.

0:15:410:15:46

Would you know what to do

if a child was choking?

0:15:460:15:48

There's a drive in Scotland

this week to get more

0:15:480:15:51

people up to scratch,

as part of First Aid Week.

0:15:510:15:54

Here now are some heroes

and experts - Jackie Nelson

0:15:540:15:56

and her daughter Skye,

who was just eight when she

0:15:560:15:59

rescued her baby sister,

and Stuart Callison,

0:15:590:16:01

who is from St Andrew's First Aid.

0:16:010:16:06

Thank you so much. Skye, we know you

are nervous. Take us back to the

0:16:060:16:13

day, what happened?

My little sister

was choking on a piece of chocolate.

0:16:130:16:19

And what did you do?

I started

patting her back. And it's dislodged

0:16:190:16:26

the chocolate.

Were you scared? You

must have been?

I wasn't scared.

How

0:16:260:16:33

did you know what to do?

I watch 24

hours in A & E.

It stood you in good

0:16:330:16:41

stead!

And inside ambulance, all

those kinds of programmes, she's

0:16:410:16:47

quite keen.

It is such a great

story. And you must be hugely

0:16:470:16:53

emotional because one child save the

other child's life.

It is quite an

0:16:530:16:57

emotional thing. But I think as time

has gone on, have learned to cope

0:16:570:17:00

with the emotions!

Were you there

when it happened?

I was upstairs.

So

0:17:000:17:08

you heard the screams?

I heard Skye

saying her sister was choking, but

0:17:080:17:14

then she realised that her lips are

turning blue and realise she was

0:17:140:17:19

choking. And they raced downstairs

to get hurt and by the time I took

0:17:190:17:23

off Skye, that was when she was

sick.

Wow. And you knew just by

0:17:230:17:29

watching on telly?

Yes.

Fantastic.

You did a great thing.

0:17:290:17:33

Well done. She did really well,

Stuart? Was that textbook?

It's

0:17:330:17:41

extraordinary that she had the

presence of mind to go to the aid of

0:17:410:17:44

her sister. And unfortunately, not

every story and so happily. Around

0:17:440:17:48

one scot per week on average chokes

to death. On average, from the NHS

0:17:480:17:54

statistics.

Is that because people

don't know what to do?

In many

0:17:540:17:59

cases.

In many cases. At the NHS is

encouraging people to have a go as

0:17:590:18:07

Skye dead and inform themselves what

to do so they can stay calm and know

0:18:070:18:10

what to do in an emergency.

Just

tell everyone, then. Skye saved a

0:18:100:18:17

life but the rules are what? If

there is a small public choking,

0:18:170:18:21

what did you do?

The basic... The

degree of force you would apply

0:18:210:18:26

would vary depending on whether it's

a baby, a toddler or a grown adult.

0:18:260:18:32

First of, the two ways you can choke

somebody may be coughing, you would

0:18:320:18:37

encourage them to cough in case they

can just cough it up, or their

0:18:370:18:40

weight may be blocked completely in

which case they will not be able to

0:18:400:18:43

make any noise at all. -- there is

we may be blocked. The best person

0:18:430:18:47

to do would be to get that person to

lean over slightly, do what Skye did

0:18:470:18:53

come off backed loans between

someone's shoulders and hopefully

0:18:530:18:56

that will remove the obstruction. If

that does not work, stand behind

0:18:560:19:02

them, form assist, and around, but a

centimetre above the belly button,

0:19:020:19:06

pull hard and operate. Hard and

upwards. And that would generally be

0:19:060:19:14

the obstruction. If it doesn't come

off ambulance immediately but keep

0:19:140:19:18

trying. And if someone should lose

consciousness, immediately start

0:19:180:19:22

CPR. But the key thing is not to be

afraid. A lot of people may be just

0:19:220:19:27

think they can wait for the

ambulance, but you need to be

0:19:270:19:30

quicker than that. Don't be afraid,

you cannot do harm, do something

0:19:300:19:34

rather than nothing.

And uni that

already, Skye.

Yes.

You knew

0:19:340:19:41

deriving. You are nervous about

coming to Iraq, but not about saving

0:19:410:19:44

a life. You knew what to do.

Congratulations. We are proud of

0:19:440:19:47

you. Thank you for coming. That is a

great story.

0:19:470:19:55

Nights out can be great fun,

but often have the potential to go

0:19:550:19:58

wrong - and that's especially true

if you've a disability.

0:19:580:20:00

Robyn Sneddon knows

that only too well.

0:20:000:20:02

She missed out on a place

in Liam Gallacher's new music video

0:20:020:20:05

after the Glasgow venue

it was being filmed in didn't

0:20:050:20:07

have wheelchair access.

0:20:070:20:08

She's made this film for us

about her biggest bugbears

0:20:080:20:10

when she's out on the town.

0:20:100:20:20

Believes it or not, disabled people

love going out just as much as

0:20:250:20:30

anyone else. But sometimes it can be

a bit tricky. Here are if you have

0:20:300:20:34

the issues I face going out all the

time. -- Askew of the issues. Now,

0:20:340:20:42

this is actually a lovely pub with

good disabled access. But let's

0:20:420:20:47

pretend for a minute that it's not.

Hi, there, I was wondering if you

0:20:470:20:52

could tell me where the disabled

access is into the building?

You

0:20:520:20:58

could maybe try...

It's one thing boasting about how

0:20:580:21:09

accessible it places for

wheelchairs. It's another thing

0:21:090:21:12

actually passing that information to

your staff.

0:21:120:21:21

There you go.

Hi, how are you? Will

be girl in the wheelchair be OK

0:21:210:21:29

through the back?

That's fine.

Some

people think if you're in a

0:21:290:21:33

wheelchair you can't talk for

yourself or sub it's as if my

0:21:330:21:36

friends are my keepers. And it

doesn't help that I'm done here.

0:21:360:21:38

Hello?

0:21:380:21:48

I'm going to nip to the toilet. Who

doesn't love a couple of drinks on a

0:21:490:21:55

night out?

Eventually, though, like any other

0:21:550:21:58

human, I'm going to need to use the

ladies. Seriously? It's great that

0:21:580:22:03

you got a pilot I can actually use,

some places don't even offer that.

0:22:030:22:07

But it doesn't help when it is

filled with junk. If you can't let

0:22:070:22:10

me spend a penny, I want spent my

money. -- if you can't spend a

0:22:100:22:17

penny, I will not spend my money.

What's that? In our's wait for an

0:22:170:22:24

accessible taxi? You got to be

joking me. -- an hour. It's not easy

0:22:240:22:29

for anyone to get home after a night

out, but how do I feel without is

0:22:290:22:34

waiting for a taxi that can take my

wheels are being stranded and

0:22:340:22:37

forgotten about at the train

station. It is not easy. Keep that

0:22:370:22:41

in mind next time you're out and

about and see someone like me. But

0:22:410:22:44

no matter what happens, you can

never go wrong with a bag of chips.

0:22:440:22:49

Well, Robyn was able to be

light-hearted about some

0:22:490:22:51

of her bugbears as a wheelchair

user, but she's highlighted problems

0:22:510:22:54

facing lots of disabled people.

0:22:540:22:55

If you're one of them, tweet

us your own bugbears @bbctimeline.

0:22:550:22:58

Now to one of my

favourite programmes.

0:22:580:23:04

Is it? I'm A Celebrity?

Absalom, I love it.

0:23:040:23:11

and it's just got more

interesting with the arrival

0:23:110:23:13

of Kezia Dugdale in the jungle.

0:23:130:23:14

Let's look at the first glimpse

of her on the show last night -

0:23:140:23:18

and a preview of what's

in store tonight.

0:23:180:23:22

People have definitely seen me deal

with rattlesnakes in my time, but I

0:23:220:23:25

have a feeling the jungle will be a

lot tougher.

0:23:250:23:29

The next few days, I will fly just

related a part in I'm a Celebrity...

0:23:290:23:32

Get Me Out of Here. I think is an

amazing opportunity to talk to the

0:23:320:23:36

people who watch this programme did

about politics. We got to do

0:23:360:23:43

horrendous tasks, do beasties. Wish

me luck!

0:23:430:23:50

So how will she fare

as a reality TV star -

0:23:500:23:53

and should she be there

as a serving politician?

0:23:530:23:55

Let's speak to Kezia's former

advisor, Alan Roden,

0:23:550:23:57

and former I'm A Celeb campmate,

Christine Hamilton, who finished

0:23:570:23:59

third in the original

series of the show.

0:23:590:24:05

Christine, should she be there as an

elected politician?

I don't think

0:24:050:24:10

she should. She is correct that it

will be an amazing experience, but

0:24:100:24:14

for her, whether she is really going

to get much chance to talk politics

0:24:140:24:18

that will be broadcast, it's not

necessarily what they are aiming to

0:24:180:24:22

do. I don't think she should. And

out of her own mouth, she doesn't

0:24:220:24:26

really think she should. Only last

year, she called for an end to

0:24:260:24:30

second jobs with MSPs and she said

she wanted to have a new kind of

0:24:300:24:34

politics. She once told Nicola

Sturgeon, I'm sure you know this

0:24:340:24:38

better than I do, to get on with the

day job. So she has criticised other

0:24:380:24:44

politicians running outside

interests. And it isn't just two

0:24:440:24:47

weeks in the jungle. You will be

away for a month. Once she goes in,

0:24:470:24:51

whether she's in there now, she will

have no contact with the outside

0:24:510:24:55

world, absolutely nothing. I just

don't think that that is what people

0:24:550:24:58

are like the percentages for. --

elect their representatives for. If

0:24:580:25:03

you are a note elected

representative in any form, whether

0:25:030:25:08

it's Scotland Westminster Wales, you

have a duty to be there while your

0:25:080:25:12

institution is sitting at have

strong reasons not to.

She shouldn't

0:25:120:25:16

be there, she should be getting on

with her day job, Alan?

It's not a

0:25:160:25:21

second job, it's three weeks away

from work to appear on a TV show.

0:25:210:25:24

She can talk to millions of viewers

every night in a way you could never

0:25:240:25:27

reach from home.

She's being paid

for it.

She is and an eight part of

0:25:270:25:32

that fee to charity. There is so

much doom and gloom about politics

0:25:320:25:37

and I think people need to lighten

up. If a politician wants to go and

0:25:370:25:40

spent three weeks in the jungle to

entertain people, I think great.

Do

0:25:400:25:45

you think producers are going to

keep in all the stuff she says about

0:25:450:25:49

Labour values?

Maybe not in the show

on ITV between nine and ten, but

0:25:490:25:53

there are other platforms, spin off

shows, opportunities after that. In

0:25:530:25:59

print or broadcast. She will get the

opportunity to raise her profile and

0:25:590:26:03

let's see some politicians as human

beings for the first time in a long

0:26:030:26:07

time.

Christine you're shaking your

head?

On several levels. First of

0:26:070:26:13

all, politicians tend to do not well

in the jungles. 19 Tories came 11th.

0:26:130:26:18

They tend to be at first. -- but

there's also this business of

0:26:180:26:34

donating to charity. As I understand

it, these to be a close in her

0:26:340:26:38

register of members of interest that

at all outside earnings will be

0:26:380:26:42

deleted charity, that has now

mysteriously gone and she is saying

0:26:420:26:45

she would donate her Parliament

salary, the equivalent of what you

0:26:450:26:49

get for the three or Watt weeks she

is aware, that is a fraction of the

0:26:490:26:54

vast amount of money she would have

been offered for ITV.

Allen, can you

0:26:540:26:58

clarify what she's giving away? So

much is giving away £2500 to the

0:26:580:27:09

Rock

Trust, which looks after, Jim

people. She would later fee to

0:27:090:27:14

charity as well when she returns, we

cannot reveal what that is at the

0:27:140:27:17

stage. And since she has been an

MSP, she had needed £20,000 to

0:27:170:27:23

charity. And that was changed for

tax reasons in June long before she

0:27:230:27:31

was on the show.

I have never stood

for election for anything, I not an

0:27:310:27:38

elected politician. I was on the

show in 2002 when was nobody. And

0:27:380:27:41

it's not the same as Ed Balls going

on strictly or an Widdecombe,

0:27:410:27:47

because they were no longer elected

politicians. So it's different. And

0:27:470:27:52

it's equally not the same as, I

understand Ruth Davidson has done

0:27:520:27:56

celebrity bake off, was that one day

or something? And she wasn't

0:27:560:27:59

completely out of contact. And I

just think it is completely wrong.

0:27:590:28:04

It is a privilege to serve your

constituents and I think that should

0:28:040:28:06

be your prime focus when your

institution or assembly Parliament

0:28:060:28:13

is sitting. I think it is wrong.

Alan, how do you think she's going

0:28:130:28:17

to do? She's afraid of spiders and

birds?

It doesn't look like she's

0:28:170:28:21

doing great in tonight 's task from

the preview, but I think she will

0:28:210:28:24

get stuck in. She is scared spiders

and birds but I think she will get

0:28:240:28:31

stuck in. She is a great curries, so

if you get the opportunity she will

0:28:310:28:39

make some friends there.

Thank you

very much indeed. We have run out of

0:28:390:28:42

time, sorry.

Contentious issue!

0:28:420:28:46

That's your Timeline for this week.

0:28:460:28:48

Thanks for watching.
