stopping its tables and the United States. Last week it was Microsoft

with its Surface tablet. This evening, internet search giant

Google is set to launch its own tablet computer, putting it on

course to compete with Apple's iPad. The move has been widely

anticipated on technology blogs, they say Google will unveil the

device at its annual I/O event. There is no shortage of tablet

computers you can buy. Sony has won, so does Samsung and many others. So

far, none had come close to matching the success of the

Coolangatta Airport iPad, the product that created the market.

But now Google is expected to enter the fray and this is it according

to the website. Google is not a stranger to this line of business.

Most of the tablets at this electronics store run on versions

of its Android operating system. It is a huge leap from supplying the

software to making the whole device. Why make such a leap, Google was

not happy with how it software was being used on other manufacturers

tablets. They bought out devices that had Android as software and

they were not pleased with how of consumers were reacting. They

needed it to figure out a way to get consumers to use Google

products directly and not have to go through Abdul Moneim Aboul

the other conclusion. Last night it released its first tablet called

Surfers. Google and Microsoft are copying Apple's founder Steve

Jobs's business formula. He believed the way to make the

sexiest gadgets was to have controlled the whole process, from

designing the software to making the hardware. The stage is set for

a clash of the Titans, as the three tech Giants lock horns in every

aspect of computing. Staying with those tablet and smartphone wars -

in the last few hours, Apple has had a victory in its global legal

battle with Samsung. Tell us what the latest is? Samsung and apple

are preparing to lock horns over a decision from the court wars and

the decision has gone the way of Apple after an American judge

stopped Samsung from selling its Galaxy 10.1 tablet in the United

States. The decision gives the iPhone manufacturer a significant

victory in the global smartphone and tablet wars. They have been

lobbying infringement claims against each other for months, all

over the world. Samsung won a court ruling in the Dutch court with

Apple been ordered to pay damages to the South Korean conglomerate.

The Samsung Galaxy tablets are powered by the Android operating

system which will be soon launching its own tablet. Samsung is a

distant second to Apple in the more paid market. It will be a very

crowded market, hopefully we will see more competition and cheaper

tablets going forward. European leaders prepare for an EU Summit in

Brussels tomorrow amid rising scepticism from financial markets

that anything concrete will be achieved to tackle the region's

debt crisis. On Tuesday, officials released a grand plan for closer

economic union between the countries that share the Euro. The

7-page document proposes a European Treasury with power over national

budgets in the Eurozone and the ability to force governments to

curb borrowing if they went over agreed limits. A European banking

union bringing all Eurozone banks under one regulator and

establishing a Europe-wide scheme to guarantee deposits. And there's

also the suggestion that so-called eurobonds could eventually be

issued. That would mean all 17 member countries would stand behind

the debt issued by each individual country - an idea strongly resisted

by Germany. Daniel Murray is Chief Economist at Swiss firm EFG Asset

Management. Some are saying at last, we are getting there with some sort

of concrete idea to solve the debt crisis, but this is not a short-

term fix? We have seen the full with the ratification of the fiscal

compact and difficulties in getting it through Parliament in Germany

how long these things take. Even if we can get the U parties to agree

to it, then it will take some time to get this approved. It will take

a long time, is it the right answer to prevent something like the

eurozone debt crisis from happening again. If you were starting afresh

and designing a single currency with the benefit of hindsight, he

would have these measures in place. But Europe does not have time to

get these measures in place that is the problem. We have had the

managing director of the IMF saying Europe has three months. The

timetable suggested in the plan is for an interim report by October

and a final report by December. Even if they managed to agree to

that, that is a long time. Is this idea of greater control in Brussels

on budgets and on those for not sticking to the Wall's, is a key to

Germany getting on board with a eurobond idea? We have had fiscal

rules in place for some time, the Maastricht treaty specified debt

limits, this contract specified them as well. It is a hardening of

those rules. There is no change in terms of the practical aspects.

Will persuade Germany to come on board? I am sceptical. We have

reports of the Opposition party in Germany saying they are keen for

Angela Merkel to support the rest of the eurozone and they are anti-

European bonds. EU leaders will gather in Brussels very soon. They

have two days to talk about these ideas and grapple with them. Mario

Monti is saying they will stay there until Sunday night to bring

confidence to market on Monday morning. Will they deliver? Well

talk is cheap. Actions speak louder than words. I'm sceptical that they

will reach agreement. It will be another damp squib. I'm sceptical

anything concrete will come out of it. The market's share your opinion

at the moment. Other business stories - commodities giant

Glencore's plans to take over miner Xstrata have run into trouble.

Qatar Holdings - part of the Gulf state's sovereign wealth fund and

one of Xstrata's major shareholders - has rejected the terms of the

all-share deal and asked for improved merger terms. Some have

suggested it may raise its offer to the deal. Rupert Murdoch's News

Corporation has confirmed that it is considering splitting itself

into two separate companies. News Corp didn't elaborate on this, but

reports say it will split its broadcasting and publishing

businesses. Analysts say this would protect its more profitable TV

operations from its UK newspaper business, which is embroiled in a

phone hacking scandal. The markets today are reflecting the feeling we
