After three meetings, the 2016 Diamond League is well and truly

:00:49.:00:54.

under way. Plenty of athletes already having laid down a marker

:00:55.:01:01.

early in this Olympic year. A good Win against good opposition.

:01:02.:01:09.

An astonishing effort. World number one wins here very comfortably. Look

:01:10.:01:19.

at that! Second best of all-time. What a race that was!

:01:20.:01:26.

After its debut stop in Africa, the Diamond League heads state side and

:01:27.:01:31.

to Eugene Oregon which is for many the spiritual home of American track

:01:32.:01:35.

and field and the venue for the Prefontaine Classic. We start by

:01:36.:01:39.

catching up with events from Friday's distance night, featuring

:01:40.:01:46.

famous Oregon resident Mo Farah. COMMENTATOR: 10,000 metres at Mo

:01:47.:01:49.

Farah very much the star of the show. And reputedly in great shape.

:01:50.:01:56.

I know he's asked for a fast pace and I know that he thinks he can go

:01:57.:01:59.

pretty close to his personal best which of course would be a British

:02:00.:02:01.

record here tonight. Koisembi going well as well. You

:02:02.:02:44.

have to put yourself out there. Ei going well as well. You have to put

:02:45.:02:45.

yourself out there. Koisembei feels good, he's putting

:02:46.:02:54.

himself out there. Five laps to go. The youngster Koisembei rallies

:02:55.:02:57.

again at the front. Mo Farah much closer in second.

:02:58.:03:10.

Once again, the crowd are on their feet. Two laps to go. Farah tries to

:03:11.:03:21.

attack and control. Sitonik sitting in behind him. As they take the

:03:22.:03:28.

bell, one lap to go. We are going to head for something under 27 minutes

:03:29.:03:34.

here I'm pretty sure. Sitonik going well. Koisembei trying to hang on to

:03:35.:03:48.

Mo Farah. Tola, the Ethiopian. Sitonik looks comfortable and Farah

:03:49.:03:52.

checks where the danger is. It's ahead of him now. The former world

:03:53.:03:59.

champion with #20e 0 to go attacks. Farah digs deep. -- 200 to go. Has

:04:00.:04:08.

Sitonik got the pace? Has he got the speed left here. Maybe that look

:04:09.:04:13.

down the back straight, he might rue that because Mo Farah kicks again.

:04:14.:04:18.

The Kenyan gives it a look behind because out in front, as ever, Mo

:04:19.:04:27.

Farah wins the preclassic 10,000 metres, 26.53.

:04:28.:04:38.

Really great race and good to see Farah taking them on. To be honest

:04:39.:04:46.

with you, I'm kind of a little disappointed to just run that time,

:04:47.:04:50.

it was a bit slow. I was hoping to run a lot faster than that. I'm in

:04:51.:04:54.

great shape, so a bit disappointed tonight but sometimes it's your

:04:55.:04:58.

first race, you know, it is what it is.

:04:59.:05:01.

The women's long jump last night, it was a pretty good competition. Got

:05:02.:05:07.

chilly later on but a fairly good breeze on their backs. Lorraine Ugen

:05:08.:05:13.

based in Texas, had a great indoor season at the world indoors went out

:05:14.:05:17.

at 676, her best outdoors so far this year. That came in round two

:05:18.:05:21.

and would be good enough to secure third spot for the British athlete.

:05:22.:05:30.

Ivana Spanovic had a great indoor season as well. Had a pretty good

:05:31.:05:39.

series, three jumps in the 680s. Her best effort was 688 in round two,

:05:40.:05:44.

she followed that up and looked around that mark all the way

:05:45.:05:48.

through. A couple of fouls as well. Wasn't good enough to win the

:05:49.:05:59.

competition. In round one, BrittnerRe -- BrittneyRees, she won

:06:00.:06:12.

the competition with this first round effort of 692. Seven metres

:06:13.:06:23.

you suspect not far away for Reese. Still to come:th: Merritt and James

:06:24.:06:27.

put on a great show as they continue their rivalry over 400 metres. The

:06:28.:06:33.

day's big event is the 5,000 metres, a star-studded line-up, including

:06:34.:06:36.

everyone Mo might be facing in this year's Olympic final.

:06:37.:06:42.

Youth versus experience in the men's 100 metres as the old guard looked

:06:43.:06:56.

to hold off some relative newcomers. Laura Weightman in the 1500 metres.

:06:57.:07:03.

Porter takes on America's best in the 100 metres hurdles. Commentators

:07:04.:07:13.

are Steve Cram and Stuart Storey. The men's mile, some very good young

:07:14.:07:20.

talent. Charlie Grice of the UK, the world junior champion, Jonathan

:07:21.:07:28.

Sawe. These are the two pace-makers on the outside. Grice of Great

:07:29.:07:36.

Britain, just missing a personal best in the 800 metres in

:07:37.:07:39.

preparation for this race so he'll be looking for a good one here. The

:07:40.:07:45.

international mile gets under way. Just under four laps of the track.

:07:46.:07:49.

Huge opportunity for many here, not only to go under four minutes, one

:07:50.:07:56.

or two who haven't done that yet, a couple of the youngsters in

:07:57.:08:00.

particular. The others looking for good performance.

:08:01.:08:04.

Charlie Grice of Great Britain Seltled quickly into fourth spot,

:08:05.:08:11.

effectively second there. In the front, Kemboi still leading. Wolde

:08:12.:08:19.

in behind him. Grice. Ahead of Fleet by a long way. 155-156 now. The

:08:20.:08:29.

third, crucial lap now for the leaders to see if they can set

:08:30.:08:32.

themselves up for a pretty good time at the end of this race. Grice

:08:33.:08:37.

looking good at the moment. He said he felt good and he said he was

:08:38.:08:40.

looking, not just to get a fast time, but to win the race. And he

:08:41.:08:50.

could: Kemboi leading. Wolde, he finished fifth at the World Indoor

:08:51.:08:52.

Championships in Portland earlier on this year, he ran a 354 indoor mile

:08:53.:09:02.

in Ireland. Seventh in the 3,000 metres so he's got decent endurance

:09:03.:09:07.

as well. Wolde sitting on the shoulder of Kemboi. Grice looking

:09:08.:09:12.

very comfortable in third. They come to take the bell this time. Kemboi

:09:13.:09:17.

will move to the side. Grice looking for room on the inside. Needs to be

:09:18.:09:22.

patient. They take the bell. Ethiopia leading in front of Great

:09:23.:09:25.

Britain and these miles ahead of the field. A long, long way ahead. The

:09:26.:09:31.

world junior champion is about 60 metres behind, having a shocker.

:09:32.:09:36.

Grice feeling good now. Senses that Wolde is starting to falter a little

:09:37.:09:42.

bit. Down the back straight. The British athlete just stretching. I'm

:09:43.:09:45.

sure there's more to come from him yet. They are chasing behind but

:09:46.:09:50.

they are so far behind, they are not going to catch these two. A look

:09:51.:09:55.

behind from Grice, Wolde not able to respond and Grice easing away.

:09:56.:10:01.

Looking really good. A little glance on the inside, into the home

:10:02.:10:04.

straight and Grice has got this one sown up. It's now all about

:10:05.:10:08.

finishing strongly. See what sort of time he can get. Kicking hard. This

:10:09.:10:13.

is going to be a big win for Charlie Grice. Grice of Great Britain comes

:10:14.:10:21.

in to take the win, 352.63, a personal best. Wolde taking second

:10:22.:10:30.

spot. The rest trailing in a long way. They never went with pace,

:10:31.:10:33.

never gave themselves a chance to run fast. That's a big, big win for

:10:34.:10:41.

Charlie Grice. Taking almost a couple of seconds, almost exactly

:10:42.:10:49.

two seconds off his previous best. Confirmation of Grice's win. 352.64.

:10:50.:10:54.

Wolde a distant second. To get the win, for me that's

:10:55.:11:06.

important to win races because that's what the sport is all about,

:11:07.:11:10.

winning races, not times and records, they are there to be broken

:11:11.:11:14.

so it's good to get the win. Next on the track, the women's 100

:11:15.:11:21.

metres. Jeter, Pierre, Okagbare-Ighoteguonor, Fraser-Pryce,

:11:22.:11:24.

English Gardner, Ahoure, Bartoletta and Facey of Jamaica. Slight breeze

:11:25.:11:33.

behind them. The temperature rising all of the time. Perfect conditions

:11:34.:11:35.

for sprinting. Pierre gets out quickly. Gardner is

:11:36.:11:51.

coming away. Fraser-Pryce. Gardner gets the win at 10. 8. Wow! Well, I

:11:52.:11:56.

said it was a great day for sprinting. That is not only a shock

:11:57.:12:05.

in the sense of her performance but how slow, that's the only word to

:12:06.:12:16.

use really was Fraser-Price. A good start Fraser price not good out of

:12:17.:12:20.

the blocks and then after that she continued to go with it Yes, this is

:12:21.:12:28.

the best I've seen her. It was fan. - fantastic. It was a great run.

:12:29.:12:37.

Fraser-Pryce has a bit of work to do, but I mean, English Gardner was

:12:38.:12:43.

superb! Kept her form well. A little ragged at the end, but my goodness

:12:44.:12:47.

me, when you are running at that speed, it's bound to happen. 10. 81.

:12:48.:12:55.

English Gardner winning 10. 81. Good performance from Bartoletta also.

:12:56.:13:01.

All the way down in eighth, Fraser price 11. 18. Final jump for

:13:02.:13:06.

Craddock, see if he can improve his position. He needs to try to get

:13:07.:13:15.

ahead of Claye. Craddock then looking to improve his position.

:13:16.:13:23.

That looks good! Now, that's a very good jump from Omar Craddock.

:13:24.:13:28.

Certainly hasn't taken the lead, you can see where that was but that may

:13:29.:13:33.

well have improved his position. 17. 40 was what he needed and it's come

:13:34.:13:37.

up a little shy of what he was requiring, it's a small improvement,

:13:38.:13:41.

17. 15 for Craddock, staying in third.

:13:42.:13:47.

Will Claye, sixth and final. What can he do? Oh, that's a big, big

:13:48.:13:57.

jump, isn't it? Looks a big jump! I just wonder whether he's put the

:13:58.:14:00.

real pressure on Taylor because that's a big, big jump. That looks

:14:01.:14:08.

better. It's 17. 56! Wow. Taylor's got to respond to that! Really

:14:09.:14:13.

quick. He's a champion, can he do it? Oh, it's also a good jump but

:14:14.:14:19.

I'm not sure it's far enough. He's not quite got his rhythm yet but my

:14:20.:14:23.

goodness me what a good competitor he is. Really fires on six cylinders

:14:24.:14:29.

in this event time after time. Twice world Olympic champion. He'll defend

:14:30.:14:35.

his title hopefully this year. A look of, well, resignation in a

:14:36.:14:39.

sense there. It's 17.76, it was better! Wow, look at that! What a

:14:40.:14:48.

competitor! And that is superb. 17.76, really up against it with

:14:49.:14:54.

Claye's 17. 56. And I say, when you, well, I say resignation, he expected

:14:55.:15:00.

more, he really wanted more. But there it is, world lead for Taylor.

:15:01.:15:07.

Claye season's best and Craddock 17. 15 in third.

:15:08.:15:14.

Pretty slowly out of his blocks. Run down by Jackson. Gibson going well

:15:15.:15:40.

into the back straight. Tinsley, once again, running that very even

:15:41.:15:44.

pace right the way through to 200 metres. Then it will start to open

:15:45.:15:55.

up. Also on the outside Clement going well, good to see him back in

:15:56.:16:05.

some form. Moving very quickly. Tinsley coming very strong. Under

:16:06.:16:08.

pressure from Clement on the outside. Tinsley is going to take

:16:09.:16:14.

another win. Tinsley gets it on the nearside. 48.7 five. A very good run

:16:15.:16:24.

by Michael Tinsley. Technically he is good, tactically he is good. Not

:16:25.:16:31.

fazed by the men that go on the outside, a season best for him. A

:16:32.:16:40.

good start to the year for Tinsley. You said, winning two Diamond

:16:41.:16:46.

leagues, it is an open event this season and Tinsley stamping his

:16:47.:16:51.

authority on it early. There it is, a season's Bester Michael Tinsley.

:16:52.:16:57.

Clement, a season's there for him. Jackson, just outside 49 seconds,

:16:58.:17:03.

his own season's best as well. A great day, many have chosen to sit

:17:04.:17:11.

in the stands with a bit of shade. On the track, the women's 3000

:17:12.:17:21.

metres steeplechase. Emma Coburn is the American record-holder. This

:17:22.:17:30.

young lady here, from Bahrain, the 19-year-old, Ruth Jebet. The women's

:17:31.:17:47.

steeplechase, one or two little stumbles at managing mostly to stay

:17:48.:17:50.

on their feet. It will be interesting to see how fast they go

:17:51.:17:52.

here. Kiyeng And Ruth Jebet capable of

:17:53.:18:09.

picking the pace up. They really are. Turning the pace on. Ruth Jebet

:18:10.:18:14.

decided to force the pace. They have got through the first 1000. It

:18:15.:18:19.

looked under three minutes to me, or very close to three minutes. Ruth

:18:20.:18:24.

Jebet leading. The world champion, Kiyeng, is behind her and a couple

:18:25.:18:28.

of the other Kenyans trying to chase, it just Jepkoech. No athlete

:18:29.:18:38.

has ever gone under nine minutes in the steeplechase. We are heading for

:18:39.:18:41.

something really quick here. Ruth Jebet in the front, the -- where she

:18:42.:18:48.

has been in the last three or four laps. Kiyeng At the moment making no

:18:49.:18:54.

inroads into the lead whatsoever. If anything the lead is extending. She

:18:55.:18:57.

is heading for a super quick time here. Kiyeng is the sixth fastest

:18:58.:19:05.

athlete of all time. Three Kenyans ahead of her on the list. A world

:19:06.:19:16.

record of 8.50 eight. If Ruth Jebet finishes strongly she will not be

:19:17.:19:20.

too far away from nine minutes. Only one athlete ever has gone under nine

:19:21.:19:29.

minutes, the next best time is 9.5. Ruth Jebet looking so good. If she

:19:30.:19:36.

can get her hurdling right and be more relaxed over the barriers, who

:19:37.:19:41.

knows. She could really go below that nine minute barrier. There are

:19:42.:19:47.

about 30 metres and it's not getting any less. Kiyeng is going to be

:19:48.:19:52.

heading for a quick time as well, she had a little look at the clock

:19:53.:19:56.

as she went through. She sensed for the first time that the gap is just

:19:57.:20:01.

starting to close. Much better from Ruth Jebet, attacking that barrier.

:20:02.:20:07.

Kiyeng is still 20 metres behind. Ruth Jebet fell apart on the last

:20:08.:20:12.

lap in Shanghai. This time she is looking a lot stronger. But almost

:20:13.:20:17.

coming to stop there. Kiyeng closing with every stride. 200 metres to go

:20:18.:20:23.

Ruth Jebet. The time just starting to slip away from her little bit,

:20:24.:20:27.

but still heading for one of the quickest ever steeplechases. That

:20:28.:20:31.

was better. Through the water for the last time. Kiyeng is close and

:20:32.:20:36.

she is closing. The crowd on their feet in the home straight. Ruth

:20:37.:20:40.

Jebet with one more barrier to complete. Takes it better this time,

:20:41.:20:45.

but here comes the world champion. Kiyeng is finishing quickly, but

:20:46.:20:50.

talk is -- Rock is ticking away. She still going, is she going to get

:20:51.:20:56.

there? Kiyeng of Kenya might not get there. Ruth Jebet wins it. 8:59.90

:20:57.:21:04.

six. The second quickest time of all time. That could well be an American

:21:05.:21:09.

record. It won't be too far away. Almost a world record for Ruth

:21:10.:21:14.

Jebet. Look at that, just 19 years of age and well done for hanging on.

:21:15.:21:19.

Kiyeng attacked and attacked hard and looked as though she might get

:21:20.:21:26.

there, but Ruth Jebet hung on for the win and it was a brilliant race.

:21:27.:21:30.

Not much in it in the end, but that is the difference between winning

:21:31.:21:39.

and coming second. Ruth Jebet, eight -- 8.50 nine. Emma Coburn with a new

:21:40.:21:46.

American record in third place, a season's best.

:21:47.:21:55.

This is Kendrick 's, who has had a very good season, had a very good

:21:56.:22:03.

win the last time in the League meeting. Very impressive. Barbour in

:22:04.:22:11.

second place. Can he put pressure on is the question everyone was asking.

:22:12.:22:22.

That was superb. Third attempt. 5.80 one. Went on to attempt five point

:22:23.:22:27.

87. This was the 5.81 that clinched it.

:22:28.:22:42.

Bartlett went clear on his third attempt. A good clearance, by virtue

:22:43.:22:49.

of that first-time clearance that he won over the world champion Shawn

:22:50.:22:59.

Barber of Canada. Terrific, that looks like it was worth more. Went

:23:00.:23:08.

on to attempt 5.87 but failed three times at that height. There it is.

:23:09.:23:21.

There is the line-up for the men's 800 metres.

:23:22.:23:46.

The men's 800 metres. It looks like Berian means business.

:23:47.:24:16.

Kitum On the outside. The pacemaker has gone now and not really with

:24:17.:24:24.

that pacemaker but it is a good start. A good, competitive race

:24:25.:24:33.

being set up here. Plenty to prove here. Aman struggling with his form

:24:34.:24:40.

and a need for good performance. A chance for these guys. The lead has

:24:41.:24:56.

been set. Aman takes close order in second place. Then Kitum and then

:24:57.:25:07.

Vazquez. Behind Vazquez is Adam Kszczot. Vazquez powering away. Adam

:25:08.:25:14.

Kszczot coming round the outside. This looks like a very good finish,

:25:15.:25:20.

Aman in second place. The two Kenyans have picked up on the

:25:21.:25:28.

outside. Aman. Adam Kszczot. What a race this is. It looks as though

:25:29.:25:39.

Boris Berian is going to win it. What a good race. That is a really

:25:40.:25:44.

good performance from Boris Berian. When you start moving into... This

:25:45.:25:51.

is a sort of race you have to run, you look at people who you've got

:25:52.:25:55.

and it's almost tougher in the 800 metres. This will really help him.

:25:56.:26:00.

The time is a bonus but the win is the most important thing. Yes, a

:26:01.:26:06.

season's best for Boris Berian. Going well. First session outdoors.

:26:07.:26:13.

Aman just getting in ahead of Adam Kszczot.

:26:14.:26:22.

One of the greatest rivalries in modern sprinting, Luke Shaw merit

:26:23.:26:29.

and James once again go head dead in the 400 metres. The -- they aim to

:26:30.:26:41.

dominate the field. Michael Johnson's 16 year meeting record

:26:42.:26:45.

could well be under threat. COMMENTATOR: The men's 400 metres,

:26:46.:26:49.

there is the line-up for you. LaShawn Merritt has gone off pretty

:26:50.:27:19.

quickly. Isaac Makwala, they won't worry too much about him. LaShawn

:27:20.:27:24.

Merritt has charged off as they approached 200 metres. This is a

:27:25.:27:29.

really good run in deed. James looks so majestic as they approach 300

:27:30.:27:36.

metres now. Isaac Makwala has run a bit more than to play this time.

:27:37.:27:40.

LaShawn Merritt on the inside of James. These two, look at this,

:27:41.:27:46.

James opens that big stride. James and Merritt. James gets it from

:27:47.:27:57.

Merritt, yes he does. James, who came here with the fastest time in

:27:58.:28:07.

the world this year said on the 29th of April... What a good race between

:28:08.:28:12.

those two and Isaac Makwala, for once, hung on. These two never

:28:13.:28:20.

failed to put on a show here. Once again not much to choose between

:28:21.:28:27.

them. But for the third time in a row Kirani James coming out on top.

:28:28.:28:35.

Merritt trine to hold that form. James being a bit more aggressive

:28:36.:28:40.

with his form in the last 20 metres. Merritt, I think, must wonder what

:28:41.:28:47.

he has to do to beat him here in Eugene because that wasn't a bad

:28:48.:28:51.

performance. The two of them have been great. James knows that the big

:28:52.:28:58.

races are yet to come. They both have others to face later in the

:28:59.:29:04.

season. But James coming out on top again. I think using a good place at

:29:05.:29:08.

this stage of the season. There it is, Kirani James and Merritt,

:29:09.:29:20.

third-place the Isaac Makwala. Let's pick out some names on this list.

:29:21.:29:25.

Mead has been doing well. Interesting to see what they will do

:29:26.:29:52.

come the American trials. The 5000 gets underway. A cracking field

:29:53.:30:01.

here. When you look at the strength and depth here and the men who are

:30:02.:30:06.

running well, a great race in Shanghai. A great battle on the last

:30:07.:30:08.

lap from Edris. For the home crowd, they'll be

:30:09.:30:35.

cheering on Bernard. They are stretched out, 200 metres. The first

:30:36.:30:47.

pacemaker will step to one side. Maybe dropped off a little bit

:30:48.:30:48.

there. Very close. Some are moving back now. So they're

:30:49.:31:19.

well stretched out. Seven to go. Sadly, Laggatt has decided to drop

:31:20.:31:29.

out, the crowd are applauding him. At the front, it's a slow pace.

:31:30.:31:38.

There's Laggatt. Deciding enough is enough -- Lagat. Ran a pretty good

:31:39.:31:42.

10,000 this year already. Just wondered what happened there. He's

:31:43.:31:47.

at the front. That was the pace-maker who went down. Watching

:31:48.:31:53.

Lagat walk to the side, I thought he gave up, but he got tripped. Sadly

:31:54.:32:05.

for Bernard Lagat it's not been a great performance. With two laps to

:32:06.:32:09.

go, it will be quicker on the last 400 metres. Can they give themselves

:32:10.:32:21.

a chance of dipping under here. The Canadian is in fifth place now. Made

:32:22.:32:26.

a bit of headway, whether he can sustain that pace, we'll see. A best

:32:27.:32:31.

of 13. 10. He comes wide on the outside now and approaches the front

:32:32.:32:35.

of this. Edris looking dangerous. If he's

:32:36.:32:58.

this close with 400 metres to go, you should be worried.

:32:59.:33:05.

We could be heading for 13 here. Ahmed cuts across.

:33:06.:33:17.

These three pulling away. Edris has missed the break. Look at Ahmed

:33:18.:33:24.

stretching away down the back straight, really testing the three

:33:25.:33:28.

big names here. This is a huge performance from him. Edris

:33:29.:33:38.

desperately trying to get in, as is Kamwaro. Kamwaro still looking good

:33:39.:33:46.

and strong, looks behind, sees where the danger is. He's got to attack

:33:47.:33:54.

early. Kamwaro can't hold off Edris. Here he goes again. He won in

:33:55.:33:59.

Shanghai. He's going to win here in Eugene. Will it be under 13 minutes

:34:00.:34:04.

again? Yes, it will! 12. 59 for the second Diamond League 5,000 in a row

:34:05.:34:13.

for the Ethiopian. Kamwaro in second may have just dipped under the

:34:14.:34:15.

13-minute mark. We'll confirm that in a second. A massive run from

:34:16.:34:23.

Ahmed of Canada in third. Confirmation

:34:24.:34:47.

Have a look at the women's high jump now. Alessia Trost of Italy in

:34:48.:34:59.

third. She went into the competition at 180, cleared that, 184, then 188

:35:00.:35:05.

and a second-time clearance at 192 here, she achieved third place on

:35:06.:35:12.

that. In fact, I'm looking at the computer now, which is working for

:35:13.:35:22.

us and I think she ties with Licwinko of Poland. Both Trost and

:35:23.:35:34.

Licwinko cleared the height and then went on to the next height. Spencer

:35:35.:35:44.

got the clearance at 188. That was the problem she had and that her

:35:45.:35:55.

best clearance was at 192. Spencer, one of the high jumpers in the world

:35:56.:35:59.

who's really made some progress in the past with her personal best at

:36:00.:36:08.

198. 195 this season. As we were saying earlier, the event has not

:36:09.:36:11.

yet, and I know this is a pun, not really taken off yet. She attacks,

:36:12.:36:16.

not particularly quickly, but she's got terrific impact on the deck. She

:36:17.:36:29.

lifts off very, very well. 192. Lowe went clear of that height hence her

:36:30.:36:33.

victory and she attempted 195 here and cleared it. She's much faster

:36:34.:36:38.

in. Very pleased with that. The world's best jump so far this season

:36:39.:36:42.

at 196, so she'll be looking to increase that. Tried to increase it

:36:43.:36:47.

at 197, couldn't make it and had three failures at that height. Her

:36:48.:36:50.

first time clearance, she didn't have a failure until the 197 which

:36:51.:36:55.

followed this jump. She really does attack the bar. Total contrast to

:36:56.:37:02.

Spencer. Quite a showwoman, enjoying the moment. The winner of the

:37:03.:37:11.

women's high jump. There it is, 195 for Lowe.

:37:12.:37:21.

Great atmosphere here, you can't fault it. The bishop's 200 metres

:37:22.:37:24.

then. There is the line-up. Thompson eats gone off quickly. Look

:37:25.:37:49.

at Bowie go on the inside, she's probably leading but look at

:37:50.:37:53.

Schippers, pretty tough. Thompson and Bowie on the inside. Schippers

:37:54.:37:57.

wants to come strongly from the back. Bowie is running well. She's

:37:58.:38:01.

going to take this. Bowie gets it. Schippers in second. Thompson in

:38:02.:38:08.

third. 21.98. Well, another good performance. Bowie is something

:38:09.:38:14.

else! 10. 80 in the 100 metres in Doha and now she's beaten Schippers.

:38:15.:38:22.

It wasn't Elaine Thompson who got revenge, Bowie is proving herself to

:38:23.:38:26.

be fantastic. 100 and 200 as well. Schippers it was this bit of the

:38:27.:38:31.

race that I didn't think she ran particularly well, she loses two or

:38:32.:38:35.

three metres, then you are expecting Schippers to come, but Bowie is

:38:36.:38:38.

still going strong. Schippers falls apart a little towards the end.

:38:39.:38:42.

Normally maintains much better than that. She wasn't able to put Bowie

:38:43.:38:48.

under any pressure in the last 10-15 metres. Schippers isn't ready yet.

:38:49.:38:58.

At this stage of the year, that is another big win for Bowie. 21.99.

:38:59.:39:06.

She's got both the 100 and the 200 woshled leading times. -- world

:39:07.:39:13.

leading times. Good race! Well, the men's javelin was a very good

:39:14.:39:19.

competition and certainly Thomas Rohler of Germany was playing his

:39:20.:39:24.

part. He was leading the Diamond Race coming into this competition

:39:25.:39:28.

and, on this occasion, he ended up in third place with 82.53. That was

:39:29.:39:34.

the fourth round of this competition. In second place was a

:39:35.:39:42.

man who really last season dominated the world champion, of course, 92

:39:43.:39:47.

metre throw on his champion occasion. 84.6 on this occasion.

:39:48.:39:54.

First three incidentally. He's the sort of thrower who can actually hit

:39:55.:39:58.

it and once he gets everything right, it will go a long, long way.

:39:59.:40:05.

Second place at the end of the competition to Julius Yego.

:40:06.:40:16.

Abdelharman of Egypt, it was his day today and it came in the fifth

:40:17.:40:20.

round. World silver medallist last year. 89-metre throw. Just short of

:40:21.:40:33.

90. There it is. 87. 87.37. Despite everything, it was a season's best.

:40:34.:40:40.

Rohler led the Diamond League until today. The men stripping off getting

:40:41.:40:46.

ready for this 100 metres. Here is the line-up.

:40:47.:41:10.

Cleanly away this time. . Gatlin gets a cracking start. It's Gatlin

:41:11.:41:17.

with the lead. Here comes Powell. He's not going to get there. Gatlin

:41:18.:41:25.

wins it. 9.85 and Gatlin finally producing a fast run this year.

:41:26.:41:31.

Easily his quickest. It's been rounded up, taken up a little bit.

:41:32.:41:36.

For the first time today, the win, I said that breeze did just pick up

:41:37.:41:39.

when they were on the start line, so it won't be a legal time. Plus 2.6.

:41:40.:41:47.

9.88, a comfortable within in the end, Powell hung on for second

:41:48.:41:50.

place. Gay getting the nod for third. Very powerful. Look at that.

:41:51.:41:57.

Very slowly his head comes up. That's good technique. Asafa working

:41:58.:42:09.

hard. Got second place. The win confirmed for Gatlin, 9.88, not a

:42:10.:42:14.

world leading time. Next on the track, the women's 1500 metres and a

:42:15.:42:24.

good, competitive field here. One of two youngsters. Efraimson of the USA

:42:25.:42:38.

hoping to go well. Embaye, Tsegay. Kipyego has made the headlines this

:42:39.:42:43.

year with her superb world leading run in Shanghai.

:42:44.:42:52.

Three and three quarter laps as ever. Price, the pace-maker, she's

:42:53.:42:59.

been asked to do everything by herself. Interesting to see whether

:43:00.:43:07.

Kipyego takes it on. Slotted in nicely behind Price who's helping

:43:08.:43:11.

them settle down. Plenty of athletes here, this is their first big race

:43:12.:43:13.

of the season. Rowbury moving up. They have just eased down a little

:43:14.:43:30.

as they got on to the home straight here. Absolutely spot on. Kipyego

:43:31.:43:36.

very, very powerful. The World Championship silver medallist from

:43:37.:43:39.

Beijing last year showed such terrific form in Shanghai to go to

:43:40.:43:44.

356.82. A very dominant piece of running and the fact she's latched

:43:45.:43:49.

on to the pace-maker indicates she's in Business Today or at least is

:43:50.:43:52.

determined. And look out now down the back straight. A little increase

:43:53.:43:56.

in pace and all of a sudden they spread well out. Yes, they went off

:43:57.:44:01.

hard and Price maintaining that. A little quick through the first 400

:44:02.:44:07.

metres for Price. She raced over 800 metres last night, interesting to

:44:08.:44:11.

see how far she'll be able to go at this pace.

:44:12.:44:17.

Simpson is far back, letting them go off at this good pace. Just a few

:44:18.:44:25.

gaps. Martinez going well here. They are all settling down after this

:44:26.:44:33.

pretty quick pace being set by Chanelle Price. Good to see Shannon

:44:34.:44:41.

Rowbury tucking in at fifth place. Fourth in the race with the

:44:42.:44:46.

pace-maker. This actually could develop, no-one yet prepared to make

:44:47.:44:51.

the move and I would think Kipyego, she has great finish speed, will

:44:52.:44:55.

start to make a move soon. All of a sudden there's a gap opening u ahead

:44:56.:44:59.

of rowbury. Chanelle Price looking behind to see

:45:00.:45:12.

if Kipyegon is there ready to take over. The two Ethiopians chasing her

:45:13.:45:23.

home, with Shannon Rowbury. Look at the gaps all of the way back to

:45:24.:45:28.

Shannon Rowbury. The others are trying to bunch behind Simpson.

:45:29.:45:37.

Weightman Moving up. The others are going to be closing a little as they

:45:38.:45:42.

approached the bell. Kipyegon leading. Simpson moving past Shannon

:45:43.:45:51.

Rowbury. These three have a good ten-metre lead. Kipyegon, there to

:45:52.:45:55.

be shot at. Can these two 19-year-old give asked something to

:45:56.:46:01.

think about with 300 metres to go? The woman who leads the world

:46:02.:46:03.

rankings this year, leading. And as ever, Seyaum challenging. They will

:46:04.:46:19.

be finishing quickly. Kipyegon with 200 to go has it between herself and

:46:20.:46:24.

Seyaum. Another metre between the two of them. Five metres back to the

:46:25.:46:33.

others, who are struggling. Kipyegon picks it up again, looks behind and

:46:34.:46:37.

sees the gap going. This is what she did in Shanghai. So strong in the

:46:38.:46:42.

last 100 metres. Kipyegon kicks away, a good performance from the

:46:43.:46:47.

Kenyan. See what she ends up with. It will be quick again. Kipyegon

:46:48.:46:59.

wins it, then Seyaum and Tsegay. A good performance once more from

:47:00.:47:00.

Kipyegon. A very good quick run. Seyaum

:47:01.:47:12.

getting a personal best. Simpson with a season's best. Good times all

:47:13.:47:20.

the way down. A season's that Martinez. Shannon faded a little bit

:47:21.:47:26.

but probably reasonably happy with that, improving to a season's best.

:47:27.:47:34.

The USA has long been a dominant force in the women's 100 metre

:47:35.:47:41.

hurdles but things didn't go quite to plan at the World Championships.

:47:42.:47:46.

Beijing's bronze-medallist joins Tiffany Porter in taking on a

:47:47.:47:51.

formidable line-up of American hurdlers who will surely be

:47:52.:47:55.

expecting medals the Olympics. COMMENTATOR: The hurdles are out for

:47:56.:48:00.

the women's 100-metre hurdles. What a race this promises to be. Six

:48:01.:48:10.

competitors from the USA. Harrison got away well. Rollin is

:48:11.:48:26.

going very well, Harrison coming through. This is going to be quick.

:48:27.:48:33.

Harrison takes up brilliantly. I think in second place was Brianna

:48:34.:48:42.

Rollins. 12.22. 100th of a second outside the world record. It has

:48:43.:48:50.

been upgraded to 12.24. Wow, she promised to deliver, what about

:48:51.:48:55.

that? The second fastest time in history. Just watch this, good out

:48:56.:49:00.

of the blocks. A diminutive figure but just making room for those

:49:01.:49:07.

hurdles. I think maybe one of them she glanced early on but perfect

:49:08.:49:13.

hurdling, so smooth, a big smile. That has got to be classed...

:49:14.:49:24.

Millions of years ago, 1988 it was. But she is so quick off the hurdle,

:49:25.:49:29.

it's as good as I've seen. Her trail leg is terrific. These they don't

:49:30.:49:33.

jump hurdles, make room for them, she is doing just that. I have not

:49:34.:49:38.

seen hurdling right up for a long time, it was God-given, terrific,

:49:39.:49:41.

sensational. Let's have a look at the result, it is worth reflecting

:49:42.:49:47.

on. 12.20 four. Three hundredths of a second outside the world record.

:49:48.:49:54.

Brianna Rollins just winning over Jasmin Stowers. The great race and a

:49:55.:49:59.

great result and a great champion. A couple of events still to go. The

:50:00.:50:08.

famous Bowerman Mile and the women's 400 metres where one of the greats

:50:09.:50:14.

is taking her final bow. Yes, Ashley Spencer. Sanya Richards-Ross retires

:50:15.:50:28.

after the Olympics. The reigning Olympics champion in London.

:50:29.:50:36.

A long hold on that but they have got away. Richards has gone off very

:50:37.:50:44.

quickly, Sanya Richards-Ross write-up up onto the shoulder of

:50:45.:50:50.

McCorory. Hastings going well. On the inside, MacPherson of Jamaica

:50:51.:50:57.

making some headway as they approach the 200-metre mark. Miller going

:50:58.:51:04.

strongly on the outside lane. Looking at Stephanie Ann McPherson,

:51:05.:51:10.

coming on strongly on means light. Sanya Richards-Ross is having some

:51:11.:51:15.

trouble now, fading, I guess. Miller coming through into the lead at the

:51:16.:51:20.

moment. Stephanie Ann McPherson looking very strong. On the outside

:51:21.:51:31.

is Hastings, in fact it is Miller. Miller in the shadow of the stand on

:51:32.:51:36.

this nearside. That was a very, very good run by Miller. Came on strongly

:51:37.:51:46.

at the end. Miller wins that, 50.15. Coming through very strongly at the

:51:47.:51:55.

end. Miller, then McCorory, a season's best, and Natasha Hastings,

:51:56.:51:58.

a season's best for her in third place.

:51:59.:52:05.

Less than half a second separated the top five in the men's 1500

:52:06.:52:12.

metres at last summer's Beijing Championships. They are reunited

:52:13.:52:21.

here today for the Bowerman Mile. Kiprop Already set a lead in the

:52:22.:52:27.

previous race but will face a challenge. Time for the final event

:52:28.:52:29.

on the track, Bowerman Mile. Not the best known of the Kenyan 's,

:52:30.:52:43.

Magut. This mile is full of talent. The

:52:44.:53:06.

Bowerman Mile gets under way. You have everybody here from the Olympic

:53:07.:53:11.

champions, the world champions, the best in the world and all the way to

:53:12.:53:17.

the likes of Andrew Hunter, the 18-year-old who is hoping he might

:53:18.:53:22.

get a chance to get close to the high school record. At the front,

:53:23.:53:34.

Kiprop, in the all blue. They are well spread out already. Blankenship

:53:35.:53:47.

looking for some room on the inside. Magut Full is the they will all

:53:48.:53:56.

queue up behind Kiprop. Seemed like they slow down a little, they

:53:57.:54:00.

bunched up on the home straight. Kiprop makes it look so easy, almost

:54:01.:54:05.

in jogging mode. He makes it look so, so easy. The other Ethiopian,

:54:06.:54:13.

world indoor silver-medallist making some progress. Kiprop leading the

:54:14.:54:21.

race. Kiprop looks like he might be trying to get back to the pace at

:54:22.:54:27.

the front. There is a gap already. The pacemaker has done what you

:54:28.:54:31.

don't want him to do, and it'll slow through 400 and reacted to that by

:54:32.:54:35.

picking the pace up a little too quickly. That is wider gap. Kiprop

:54:36.:54:41.

has now done that -- is and created a gap between him and the chasing

:54:42.:54:47.

pack. This time round it will be two to go and the Gap starting to

:54:48.:54:57.

appear. Blankenship Moving up. Kiprop, as they go through 800

:54:58.:55:03.

metres, with a five-metre lead. The pacemaker in front of him will get

:55:04.:55:08.

as far as he can, but this is a day when Kiprop has given up on the

:55:09.:55:12.

times already. Look at that, letting himself drift back to the field. He

:55:13.:55:16.

is going to win this or try and win this that his will. 3.48, if he is

:55:17.:55:21.

going to run that fast it will have to be on a big last lap. The others

:55:22.:55:27.

are closing him down now, so it become the race. One or two athletes

:55:28.:55:32.

in the back pack have now found themselves back into contention in

:55:33.:55:37.

the race, if there is such a thing against the great Kiprop. He has

:55:38.:55:46.

such a fast finish. It really is going to be a very competitive race.

:55:47.:55:53.

500 metres or a little less to go. Kiprop with them ganging up behind

:55:54.:55:59.

him. Kiprop looks bright little bit of room. It is anybody's race here.

:56:00.:56:06.

Kiprop has allowed three of them to go past him.

:56:07.:56:18.

Blankenship and Wote in front of Kiprop. He starts to stretch out

:56:19.:56:24.

down the back straight. Those legs of his starting to click into gear.

:56:25.:56:33.

The Olympic bronze-medallist at 5000 with the man who we all expect to go

:56:34.:56:37.

and hopefully take the gold, from his point of view, in Rio. Had a

:56:38.:56:42.

look behind to see where the danger is. Kiprop looks comfortable. Kiprop

:56:43.:56:51.

kicking away. It has been a good performance but Kiprop kicks away to

:56:52.:56:55.

take the win. It will not be fast, 3.50 one. Today Kiprop deciding the

:56:56.:57:05.

winner was enough. It is all he wanted to do. The pacemaking wasn't

:57:06.:57:09.

tickly good early on and I think that decided what he determined he

:57:10.:57:15.

was going to do. The winning time for Kiprop, 3.50 one. A shake of the

:57:16.:57:20.

head showing you wanted something a bit better than that. I think the

:57:21.:57:26.

rest will be a little disappointed, although Blankenship rewarded with a

:57:27.:57:31.

personal best in seventh place. Another brilliant meeting in Eugene.

:57:32.:57:36.

Two performances on the track where athletes almost the world record.

:57:37.:57:46.

Harrison in the hurdles and Ruth. Charlie Grice won the International

:57:47.:57:51.

mile and a new personal best, a real confidence booster for him. Mo Farah

:57:52.:57:54.

will get all of the headlines again. He had to work really hard to win

:57:55.:57:58.

the 10,000 metres. He was hoping for something a little bit quicker but

:57:59.:58:01.

in the NT had to dig deep for the victory. It was another sub 27

:58:02.:58:06.

minute rocking and British bands will look forward to seeing him in

:58:07.:58:09.
