Welcome to Birmingham for the Muller Grand Prix. We will see so many

:00:46.:00:53.

stars of the London World Championships. 50 medallists here.

:00:54.:00:57.

Half of them gold, on the track. One of them, a man who has been the star

:00:58.:01:02.

of British Athletics for nearly a decade. One of the greatest we have

:01:03.:01:07.

seen is saying his farewells. It will be fast and furious, just like

:01:08.:01:12.

it was in London. Here we go then... London's calling! Britain's

:01:13.:01:17.

watching. This is phenomenal!

:01:18.:01:25.

He's a one man world superpower! MUSIC

:01:26.:01:47.

Oh, look at that! Diamond brings them home to silver!

:01:48.:02:09.

Going to get it... Great Britain, the bronze.

:02:10.:02:22.

Ahead... Silver medal... It will be tough... What a fantastic ten days

:02:23.:02:27.

we had. What a World Championships. Here we are in Birmingham, on this

:02:28.:02:34.

glorious sunny Sunday afternoon. And The Stadium is pretty full to watch

:02:35.:02:37.

many of those stars of London. 50 medallists. 25 of them gold

:02:38.:02:42.

competing here. And of course Mo Farah is one of those competing in

:02:43.:02:46.

the 3,000 metres. The last event on the track today. He'll be on a

:02:47.:02:52.

British track competing for the last time in his career. So many of these

:02:53.:02:56.

fans want to say goodbye and thank you for the memories of the golds

:02:57.:02:59.

and the likes of Sophie Hitchon competing in the hammer event here.

:03:00.:03:06.

Elaine Thompson as well and so many Diamond League points to pick up

:03:07.:03:10.

along the way as well. You will see those events shortly.

:03:11.:03:16.

Dafne Schippers there. And Mo Farah arriving in style.

:03:17.:03:20.

In a Bentley - a little bit earlier on today, to say, well, hello, first

:03:21.:03:25.

of all, but eventually, goodbye. I think the emotion will be very, very

:03:26.:03:29.

charged and very high in this stadium in about two hours' time

:03:30.:03:32.

when he comes out on the track for the last time. Alongside me to watch

:03:33.:03:39.

all of this Colin Jackson and Denise Lewis.

:03:40.:03:43.

We have seen some of them up for it after London. Others have to dig

:03:44.:03:48.

deep for the reserves? There'll be tired legs and tired arms out there.

:03:49.:03:52.

It is about getting points today. It is about enjoying what is great

:03:53.:03:55.

athletics. It will be fast and furious, as you said. For some it is

:03:56.:03:59.

about trying to redeem a little bit of pride and work out why things

:04:00.:04:03.

didn't work out in London when they felt they were in great shape.

:04:04.:04:07.

Sometimes it is really frustrating when you don't deliver the

:04:08.:04:10.

performance you want to do. You can turn around your mind set and work

:04:11.:04:15.

on it again and believe in yourself. They have a chance today. Wherever

:04:16.:04:21.

they decide to finish the season they have a long, hard winter,

:04:22.:04:25.

getting ready for next year. Those are the months that nobody sees the

:04:26.:04:29.

hard work. All that hard work will pay off eventually. We know that.

:04:30.:04:33.

You have to keep telling theth Lees that. -- the athletes that. It is

:04:34.:04:39.

when you think, wow, what happened? Where did it go wrong? Is it worth

:04:40.:04:43.

it? I am sure, at the end of the day, it is. This venue will hold the

:04:44.:04:54.

events next February. It is a great city and the athletes have

:04:55.:04:57.

experienced that, many times competing in Birmingham for our

:04:58.:04:59.

international indoors. I think it will be a great chasm Ionships. --

:05:00.:05:05.

championships. There's no respite and they will have to get themselves

:05:06.:05:09.

up again. It is one of their targets, I am sure, for a lot of

:05:10.:05:14.

them from the indoors back into the Commonwealth Games. Common wealths,

:05:15.:05:20.

Europeans. Greg Rutherford said he was not competing in the

:05:21.:05:24.

championships because he's had a stop-start season with injury. He

:05:25.:05:27.

wants to be fit enough to do an indoor season. He wants to compete

:05:28.:05:32.

in Birmingham. I retired in Birmingham. My final competition was

:05:33.:05:37.

at the indoor championships there. I have a love affair with the city.

:05:38.:05:41.

They said goodbye in a wonderful way for me. I understand why Greg says

:05:42.:05:45.

he wants to be here, wants to compete. Ultimately, you want to

:05:46.:05:48.

compete well. When you have won the titles that Greg has done, you want

:05:49.:05:54.

to do it right. Perhaps stepping back from this outdoors season and

:05:55.:05:57.

getting himself focussed for that is the right decision. That is a way

:05:58.:06:00.

off. We have plenty to come this afternoon for you, though. This is

:06:01.:06:02.

what you can expect. Rio gold-medallist Dalliah Muhammad

:06:03.:06:15.

and Eilidh Doyle will be in the 400 metres hurdles.

:06:16.:06:22.

??TAKE Kyle Langford will be in the 800 metres.

:06:23.:06:34.

And Abdi Jama and Chijindu Ujah will be in the men's 100 metres.

:06:35.:06:40.

A 3,000 meet irfield, which includes Hasan. Andrew Pozzi features in a

:06:41.:06:51.

high-class sprints hurdle field. So the first event will be the

:06:52.:07:03.

women's 400 metres hurdles, featuring Eilidh Doyle. Kyle

:07:04.:07:11.

Langford followed by a 100-metre battle, featuring two of that

:07:12.:07:17.

quarter who won that gold in London. It is the men's 110 murderles with

:07:18.:07:24.

Andrew Pozzi. The women's 100 metres time follows.

:07:25.:07:31.

Isaac Makwala will be back. There is a women's 400-metre field n which

:07:32.:07:38.

all three of the medallists will be on the track, including Allyson

:07:39.:07:46.

Felix. And the last a 3,000 lap of honour for Mo Farah, the Olympic

:07:47.:07:50.

champion. It will be coming bang, bang, bang, bang throughout the

:07:51.:07:53.

afternoon. So much top-class athletics to come. I mentioned

:07:54.:07:58.

Andrew Pozzi there. He must have watched that final and thought, why,

:07:59.:08:03.

why, what happened? How did it come that I was not on the start line?

:08:04.:08:08.

The times he's produced this season would have seen him pushing through

:08:09.:08:11.

that line, in some shape that could have got a medal.

:08:12.:08:14.

You are spot on. It is the most frustrating thing when you know you

:08:15.:08:23.

can deliver. He won the indoors championships. Coming to a home

:08:24.:08:27.

games we had a lot of hope he can raise his game a little bit. It only

:08:28.:08:31.

takes a minor error in hurdles for you to be completely out of the

:08:32.:08:35.

equation. Unfortunately that is what happened to Andrew. It will be his

:08:36.:08:39.

time again. He's still pretty young. It is a technical event. It means

:08:40.:08:43.

he'll get into the grove of it. Once he does, he'll be dangerous. And the

:08:44.:08:48.

800 metres featuring Kyle Langford w that glorious fourth. There were a

:08:49.:08:54.

few in London. Here is one of those from a young athlete you feel has

:08:55.:08:58.

come on so much - ranked 4th in the world.

:08:59.:09:03.

He learnt so much in those championships. It will bode him well

:09:04.:09:09.

in the future. We spoke to him in the studio. He was a breath of fresh

:09:10.:09:14.

air. I love his attitude. He needs to race well and enjoy the moments

:09:15.:09:18.

where he's up against top class fields. He's so young, coming out of

:09:19.:09:22.

the junior ranks, to compete at this level for him, it is great. Talking

:09:23.:09:28.

about how high he aims, he said I will replace Mo. So his timing

:09:29.:09:31.

couldn't be better. Mo Farah competing here for the last time on

:09:32.:09:35.

a British track today. You are right. That refreshing attitude,

:09:36.:09:39.

nothing wrong with that. You never know where you're going to go. Let's

:09:40.:09:44.

relive an event from earlier on because the women's 100 metres

:09:45.:09:47.

finals are coming newspaper an hour or so. Earlier on we had two very

:09:48.:09:52.

heats. Schippers is out closely, only three

:09:53.:10:26.

to go through automatically. Schippers has ground to make up.

:10:27.:10:31.

Schippers having to work hard. She's run out of the automatic places.

:10:32.:10:40.

Talot with 10.95. Your finalists will go off at about

:10:41.:10:48.

4.05pm. Dina Asher-Smith running herself

:10:49.:11:00.

into great shape throughout that championship and looking good today.

:11:01.:11:10.

It is a great final we have in prospect. Now on the track it is the

:11:11.:11:18.

women's 400-metre hurdles. There is the British captain, Eilidh Doyle.

:11:19.:11:22.

Out there in a very strong field as well.

:11:23.:11:24.

It is a loaded field. I think she had a disapointeding championships

:11:25.:11:38.

from her point of view. She has to keep racing. Keep her head up and

:11:39.:11:42.

she'll be roared on by this crowd. Mr Thompson will be on the sofa

:11:43.:11:46.

thinking you are thinking about him. You know that, don't you?

:11:47.:11:57.

Shamier Little a disappointment from the contingent. And Eilidh Doyle is

:11:58.:12:33.

on the inside here. Finalist in Rio and London, at the

:12:34.:12:37.

Olympics and the World Championships and she stepped into the relay and

:12:38.:12:41.

scored address well for medals. The Olympics and the World

:12:42.:12:44.

Championships. There's the line up. It is Doyle and Little, Muhammad,

:12:45.:12:56.

Russell - there would have been five of the World Championship finalists

:12:57.:13:05.

in this one. Adelle Tracey had to drop out. So Doyle on the inside.

:13:06.:13:25.

Eilidh Doyle will feel the love from this crowd. A finalist at the World

:13:26.:13:32.

Championships, where she finished eighth. Little alongside her, who

:13:33.:13:38.

was so disappointing in the World Championships.

:13:39.:13:47.

Just outside the medals at the World Championships and Russell looking

:13:48.:13:58.

powerful. Alongside Petersen. Doyle in a good position here.

:13:59.:14:07.

Shamier Little struggling. Through comes Russell, the Jamaican. Doyle

:14:08.:14:20.

labouring over a little bit. Russell in third. Doyle in fourth.

:14:21.:14:23.

54. 20 Hejnova, victory here in the

:14:24.:14:40.

Diamond League. She's qualified for the Diamond League final in Zurich.

:14:41.:14:50.

Best heat here by Hejnova, who takes the victory. She tends to finish

:14:51.:14:54.

pretty strongly. Didn't quite in the final in London. Had enough here to

:14:55.:15:00.

just overhold. London was run about a second faster

:15:01.:15:06.

than this victory time. But Hejnova, as you mentioned is not the fastest.

:15:07.:15:12.

She doesn't run the fastest first 200 metres. She has a good solid

:15:13.:15:17.

technique. Once she can get to that high pace and maintain it, with the

:15:18.:15:21.

good strike pattern, it will put you into a good position. That is what

:15:22.:15:24.

Hejnova always tends to find herself in. She's been a little bit sharper

:15:25.:15:29.

this year. Earlier I think she would have been more of a contender in

:15:30.:15:31.

this race in London. Hejnova came through when it

:15:32.:16:02.

mattered. Good finish between Hejnova and Delilah Muhammad.

:16:03.:16:15.

Hejnova has that strength. She is not blisteringly quick, but power in

:16:16.:16:18.

the latter stages of the 400 hurdles is so important. Hejnova has that

:16:19.:16:27.

strength. She took the victory. We will have a chat with her. Eilidh

:16:28.:16:37.

Doyle is in fourth place. Thanks, Andrew. As you came into the

:16:38.:16:41.

home straight, you looked like it would be challenging for a victory.

:16:42.:16:45.

How would you assess the race? It was similar to the final at the

:16:46.:16:50.

World Championships. I got off well and then had to fight back. It

:16:51.:16:58.

didn't feel that quick. I was surprised that the speed. After the

:16:59.:17:02.

champs, business is not done to you guys. The Diamond League circuit

:17:03.:17:06.

continues. There are points to be chased and performances to be

:17:07.:17:10.

delivered. What is it like for you to do that? The hardest part is to

:17:11.:17:15.

try to keep training. The racing is the fun part. Actually motivating

:17:16.:17:20.

yourself is tough going. But is nice to have the races afterwards. You

:17:21.:17:25.

pick the World Championships, so you may as well keep going. The blood

:17:26.:17:31.

going forward and well done on your team captaincy. You did us proud.

:17:32.:17:40.

While we were switching over from BBC Two to BBC One, the third of the

:17:41.:17:48.

Paralympic class races was run, the T44 men, featuring Jonnie Peacock, a

:17:49.:17:53.

crowd favourite. A huge champion of London 2012 and Rio 2016. Just a few

:17:54.:17:59.

weeks ago, he won his second world title here, the 100m T44 in London,

:18:00.:18:06.

streaking away, putting in a wonderful performance. He is a crowd

:18:07.:18:10.

pleaser, loves these occasions. The crowd loved him too. And Richard

:18:11.:18:14.

Brown was supposed to be in the line-up. He pulled out a couple of

:18:15.:18:18.

days ago, so his great rival was not there. What is going to be a

:18:19.:18:20.

walkover for Jonnie Peacock? walkover for Jonnie

:18:21.:18:31.

COMMENTATOR: Jonnie Peacock in lane four. The world champion over the

:18:32.:18:39.

100m, and gets off to a good start. The two good sprinters are going

:18:40.:18:42.

neck and neck. As expected, Jonnie Peacock gets the win. Not by much.

:18:43.:18:50.

11.03, the winning time. But out pretty well. Not much to choose

:18:51.:18:57.

between them, but it is there that he guessed -- guessed that

:18:58.:19:05.

advantage. Peacock had just enough to get the win. Not his quickest

:19:06.:19:10.

time. He ran so quick in those World Championships. The gold medal is of

:19:11.:19:15.

course the most important thing. A great race between the two of them.

:19:16.:19:24.

Jonnie, well done, a great win in front of a home crowd. Richard

:19:25.:19:28.

Whitehead was saying earlier that he has been on chocolate and pizza,

:19:29.:19:32.

enjoying himself posed World Championships. What is it like to

:19:33.:19:35.

bridge that gap once you have done what you set out to do and then have

:19:36.:19:40.

to come back and compete here? Firstly, it is fantastic that they

:19:41.:19:44.

have got the event on here today. It hasn't been here three years, so I

:19:45.:19:51.

wanted to take the opportunity. It sounds like they have some great

:19:52.:19:55.

plans for Paralympic sport, and hopefully this event should be back

:19:56.:20:00.

here for the next four years. Once again, it has captured everybody's

:20:01.:20:04.

imagination. It must be fantastic to be a part of that. You are a big

:20:05.:20:10.

part of why it is growing. It's so good when you come back into this

:20:11.:20:16.

country. The way they soaked up Paralympic sport is fantastic. It's

:20:17.:20:20.

literally unlike anything else. I have been looking at the London 2017

:20:21.:20:27.

world champs. We really hit it hard. This is the first time I have them a

:20:28.:20:31.

warm-up since my final, the first time I put my blade on, apart from

:20:32.:20:37.

yesterday, when I ran a kilometre for the superhero triathlon, which

:20:38.:20:40.

was great fun. So I thought I would be about 11.5, so I am happy. Enjoy

:20:41.:20:47.

your downtime, whenever it comes. Cheers. He is a huge star, Jonnie

:20:48.:20:54.

Peacock. Could that man be one of our next big stars of the track?

:20:55.:21:01.

Kyle Langford? He certainly has the charisma and personality. Coming

:21:02.:21:04.

into the World Championships come he finished fourth in the final with

:21:05.:21:09.

such a great run. Had he timed it a tiny bit better, he would have been

:21:10.:21:15.

amongst the medals. I think he would have been, but it's about learning.

:21:16.:21:21.

These environments give you something. You must always take

:21:22.:21:25.

something away. Question yourself, and he does that. He has a great

:21:26.:21:29.

team around him and bags of personality, which is what you need.

:21:30.:21:34.

Let's hand you over to your commentary team. The eagle eared

:21:35.:21:38.

amongst you will have noticed that that was not Andrew Cotter, it was

:21:39.:21:41.

Steve Cram calling the Jonnie Peacock race. Steve, it is you now

:21:42.:21:46.

with Paula Radcliffe. No, it's Alistair McGowan here, doing a very

:21:47.:21:51.

good impersonation. Which he does do of Brendan. Anyway, let's not get

:21:52.:21:56.

ahead of ourselves with Kyle. This is a young guy who I thought

:21:57.:22:02.

performed web of expectation at the World Championships. He was close to

:22:03.:22:05.

a medal, but by his own admission still has a way to go to be a

:22:06.:22:11.

consistent contender at a major championships in this event, because

:22:12.:22:13.

it's still an incredibly tough event. Bearing in mind the two of

:22:14.:22:20.

three of the real contenders didn't make the competition and they will

:22:21.:22:26.

be back, he might not make the final. He is still developing the

:22:27.:22:29.

confidence that he drew from what he did in London, which will certainly

:22:30.:22:34.

help him going forward. Kyle is joined here by another of our very

:22:35.:22:37.

good athletes, Elliot Giles. Nigel Amos of Botswana is in this as

:22:38.:22:59.

well. Asbel Kiprop has not been in the best shape. Elliot Giles is from

:23:00.:23:09.

the local club, the Birchfield Harriers. Kyle will be delighted to

:23:10.:23:13.

be racing the great man, Kiprop. All of the work he has put in over

:23:14.:23:30.

the last few years is coming to fruition. This man was the prerace

:23:31.:23:46.

favourite. Amos faded in the home straight when others were charging

:23:47.:23:54.

in. McBride led the final outing. He is a frontrunner by nature, but the

:23:55.:24:00.

way he did it in the final wasn't smart and he finished eighth. So the

:24:01.:24:05.

men's 800m here is a really open race. I didn't mention Erik

:24:06.:24:10.

Sowinski. Huge disappointment for Botswana

:24:11.:24:31.

with the whole Isaac Makwala thing and Amos here probably got

:24:32.:24:36.

overlooked. When Korea didn't get the final, you thought that Amos

:24:37.:24:43.

might be the man. And the weather race panned out, it wasn't so. He is

:24:44.:24:47.

trying to make amends for that. The British boys are trying to get

:24:48.:24:59.

personal bests from this. I don't think how did much wrong in his semi

:25:00.:25:05.

and his final. He has just got those next steps to make. Tyler is setting

:25:06.:25:17.

off this pace by a long way. Amos now leading from McBride. And in the

:25:18.:25:28.

quicker finishers. Lewandowski is there. Kyle Langford beginning to

:25:29.:25:39.

move. Elliot Giles will want to go with Adam Truscott. When Amos is

:25:40.:25:49.

running well, Amos will stay strong in the home straight and Amos

:25:50.:25:55.

continues to kick away. Then Kszczot, Lewandowski, McBride. The

:25:56.:26:00.

two Poles come second and third. No doubt about the winner. The two

:26:01.:26:10.

Brits were fifth and sixth. I don't know what went wrong for Amos at the

:26:11.:26:14.

World Championships. If he had just run it like that... He has looked as

:26:15.:26:25.

though he is strong enough. Just couldn't hang together in the World

:26:26.:26:28.

Championship final. That result is not right, I'm not sure why that is

:26:29.:26:33.

coming up. That is your winner, and he won comfortably in the end,

:26:34.:26:38.

Paula. He did, and he looked a different athlete of the athlete ran

:26:39.:26:42.

a week ago in the final of the 800m in London. Maybe he was sick. We

:26:43.:26:48.

know there were things going around, but he certainly looked a much

:26:49.:26:51.

stronger athlete. He attacked quickly and caught the others

:26:52.:26:55.

napping at the back. Certainly Adam Kszczot. Elliot Giles was the one

:26:56.:27:04.

who found the room on the inside. He was in the right place and he had a

:27:05.:27:09.

clearer run through. Kyle Langford had to go very wide, as did Adam

:27:10.:27:16.

Kszczot. But Adam got their to pip Lewandowski on the line. But there

:27:17.:27:22.

was a clear winner, Madeleine Moss, out in front, looking strong and

:27:23.:27:26.

making up for what happened in London -- Nigel Amos.

:27:27.:27:32.

We will tidy up the result. That caption wasn't right. Clear winner

:27:33.:27:50.

here. And I think Phil has Kyle and Elliott with him. Indeed I do,

:27:51.:27:55.

Steve. After your efforts at the World Championships, fourth place,

:27:56.:28:00.

has life changed for you? Are more people noticing you? Yeah, is being

:28:01.:28:07.

crazy. The public reception has been mad. It's been good. It's been a bit

:28:08.:28:14.

of a hard week this week, getting back into the groove. Everything I

:28:15.:28:20.

have done was for the World Championships, so trying to stay

:28:21.:28:24.

motivated this week has been harder. I thought the race went OK. I worked

:28:25.:28:34.

hard. I felt like was putting in more energy than everybody else. But

:28:35.:28:38.

I am just having fun at the end of the season now, just enjoying it. I

:28:39.:28:43.

suppose the same is true for you, Elliott, you are popping up your

:28:44.:28:46.

experience with these races, but you are trying to get the balance right

:28:47.:28:51.

after peaking for the worlds. You have got it, it is trying to find

:28:52.:28:55.

the balance. I am a bit more level-headed at the moment, but is

:28:56.:28:59.

tough. When the champs are gone, it goes into different territory. You

:29:00.:29:04.

are more relaxed. That is probably why the times were slower. It was a

:29:05.:29:16.

good race. Keep the good form going. Well, we can tidy up the results for

:29:17.:29:17.

you. Back to this pole vault. Great

:29:18.:29:37.

Britain's Holly Bradshaw has had two fails at this height of 4.68m. She

:29:38.:29:42.

has to go clear to remain in the competition. Possibly her best of

:29:43.:29:51.

the afternoon, but three fouls for Bradshaw. Struggled with the wind

:29:52.:29:55.

here this afternoon, we are gusting down the Alexander Stadium. She has

:29:56.:30:04.

had a good summer, of sorts. Disappointment with her World

:30:05.:30:07.

Championships. She said she was disappointed mother she has jumped a

:30:08.:30:11.

British record. There is a lot to take from this year. Your thoughts,

:30:12.:30:16.

Tony? That was by the her best attempt. As a pole vaulter, you

:30:17.:30:21.

stand at the end of the runway, waiting. She is just having a chat

:30:22.:30:25.

with Scott. You wait for a consistent wind so that you can set

:30:26.:30:28.

off the poor yourself with that wind to get good speed. Sandy Morris also

:30:29.:30:40.

failed at that height. How about that? The world champion added to

:30:41.:30:47.

her title last year. She is a cut above the rest, Stefanidi. She will

:30:48.:30:56.

have changed her pole. She really gets up above the poll quickly.

:30:57.:31:07.

Meijer, if she goes clear here will knock Holly Bradshaw. Bradshaw is in

:31:08.:31:15.

second place behind Stefanidi. Meijer looks supported on that, her

:31:16.:31:20.

third attempt. So Meijer's best, 4.61. Will have to

:31:21.:31:26.

settle for third. Stefanidi, then, 4. 75 - second

:31:27.:31:31.

attempt. What a clearance that is! Really has

:31:32.:31:38.

been so dominant. Once again here in Birmingham, proving her class.

:31:39.:31:46.

So we move on to the men's 100 metres, as they get ready. Watch one

:31:47.:31:50.

more time the clearance of Stefanidi. Why not? Wasn't too

:31:51.:31:54.

shabby. That is my technical knowledge of the pole vault.

:31:55.:32:04.

Adam Gemili goes in the 100 metres. Not Gemili, who ran so well on the

:32:05.:32:12.

second leg in the 4x100. Chijindu Ujah, the lead man in that quartet.

:32:13.:32:17.

He won in Rome and London, he would have been disappointed to go to the

:32:18.:32:23.

semi-finals of the individual 100s. Alongside him James Dasaolu. Fifth

:32:24.:32:27.

in his semifinal in the 100 in London. Not part of the relay squad.

:32:28.:32:35.

An outstanding domestic line-up here.

:32:36.:32:40.

Ojie Edoburun, won the English title in Bedford in June, 10.12. European

:32:41.:32:46.

under 23 champion. Zharnel Hughes, better known for the 200 is yet to

:32:47.:32:54.

rediscover the form that took him to the World Championships a couple of

:32:55.:32:58.

years ago. Seventh in the semifinal in London over that distance. And on

:32:59.:33:03.

his home track Kyle De Escofet, the youngest in the line-up at 20.

:33:04.:33:10.

10.21 his new PB this season. Harry Aikines-Aryeetey not getting

:33:11.:33:35.

to join in the celebrations. Prescod missing here. Aa part from that it

:33:36.:33:42.

is a full house, loaded with British talent.

:33:43.:33:51.

And, well, Adam Gemili there springing out. First false start of

:33:52.:33:57.

the day. We hope, he hopes it is not a false start because I think

:33:58.:34:00.

everyone excited to see how he can run. He competed in the trails here

:34:01.:34:05.

and struggled with six in the 200 in June. And we learned afterwards that

:34:06.:34:10.

he had been running under instructions with a niggle. Then we

:34:11.:34:16.

saw Adam Gemili in the relay. I wonder, I fear that he might have

:34:17.:34:20.

false started here. Let's have a look. Your fear could be right,

:34:21.:34:26.

Andrew. They often are, Colin! They often are! Head seems to go before

:34:27.:34:33.

everyone else's. It is tight. Lane three, Adam Gemili will be

:34:34.:34:40.

disqualified here. That is such a shame for everyone who wanted to see

:34:41.:34:45.

him race against everyone else here. A few jeers from the crowd. I

:34:46.:34:49.

thought Gatlin had appeared again. It is a shame because he had been

:34:50.:34:53.

run sog well again in that relay. People really wanted to see what he

:34:54.:34:57.

could do here. I think he wanted to see what he could do after running

:34:58.:35:01.

so well down the back straight, that second leg in the relay. I think

:35:02.:35:05.

he'll be frustrated, irritated. I think when they saw him the reaction

:35:06.:35:11.

times he'll see that clearly. He has been moved from the track for a real

:35:12.:35:16.

reason. I think this race for him most of all it was important today

:35:17.:35:20.

this race because he felt aggrieved he had not got to run individually

:35:21.:35:24.

in the World Championships because he had that niggle and was coming

:35:25.:35:28.

back and could show what he could do. And this was a chance to show

:35:29.:35:32.

against the best of British sprintings that he's just about the

:35:33.:35:35.

best when he's on song. That's painful. Painful to watch. He'll be

:35:36.:35:40.

frustrated. But now going back to business. So Robertson,

:35:41.:35:51.

Aikines-Aryeetey, Ujah, Dasaolu, Edoburun, Hughes, Escofet. Lane

:35:52.:35:57.

three, Adam now watching the rest of the spectators here in The Stadium.

:35:58.:36:07.

Away this time, a good start from Chijindu Ujah. Tries to drive on, it

:36:08.:36:14.

is Ujah clear at the moment. Zharnel Hughes coming through. Ujah

:36:15.:36:21.

gets it on the line, 10.09. A good win for Ujah. It's been a good

:36:22.:36:26.

season for Ujah. We mentioned that dip in not reaching the final of the

:36:27.:36:30.

World Championships individually. That is a stiff competition. He's

:36:31.:36:35.

run around the 10 second flat mark all season. He has a good win here

:36:36.:36:40.

in the Birmingham meeting. Not a Diamond League event, but still

:36:41.:36:43.

stiff competition. You want the local bragging rights as well. Spot

:36:44.:36:48.

on. For him it was important that he's demonstrated he's the number

:36:49.:36:55.

one 100-metre runner our country. Mr Prescod may have something to say

:36:56.:37:00.

about that. CJ has been so consistent this season. He's a

:37:01.:37:04.

lovely runner when he gets going. Drives well - good technique, very

:37:05.:37:11.

effective. You marry that with a good head and you get a fantastic

:37:12.:37:15.

athlete. The future is bright for him. More experienced game time and

:37:16.:37:21.

time again. I want to see when he gets under that 10 second mark more

:37:22.:37:29.

consistently. He's from the 10.2s to the 10.1s. His next step will be to

:37:30.:37:34.

get to the 10 second mark on a consistent basis. He's not that far

:37:35.:37:40.

away. So, a good win from Chijindu Ujah, pressurised, but also by

:37:41.:37:44.

Zharnel Hughes, finishing quickly. Let's confirm the result for you. It

:37:45.:37:50.

is a shame for Adam Gemili. I can see they are both with Phil just

:37:51.:37:55.

now. CJ, I start with you - fine win on

:37:56.:37:59.

the back of, well, the most famous win of your life so far. And that 4

:38:00.:38:05.

by one lives in the memory for all of us. I was optimistic. I wanted to

:38:06.:38:10.

come out here and put on a show for the crowds and have fun. My legs are

:38:11.:38:15.

still a bit jelly. I'm trying to get ready for Zurich and this crowd's

:38:16.:38:18.

amazing. I love it. James, let's bring you in. Seeing what the guys

:38:19.:38:23.

were able to achieve in the relay, but in an individual event we know

:38:24.:38:26.

you guys are hovering around - you are pushing each other all the time

:38:27.:38:32.

to get to that next level. It is amazing I would have loved to have

:38:33.:38:39.

been part of it. Today it is about having fun in front of a British

:38:40.:38:44.

crowd, who are amazing for their support and stuff. It was all about

:38:45.:38:50.

fun, but let's bring in Adam. You were disappointed, you wanted to run

:38:51.:38:54.

so desperately today. Put into words what happened, if you can. Honestly,

:38:55.:38:59.

I don't know. I didn't feel like I false started. That's the first time

:39:00.:39:03.

in my career that's ever happened to me. I thought I was trying to

:39:04.:39:06.

execute... I know I'm in great shape. I know I have not had an

:39:07.:39:11.

individual race to prove it. The track is amazing. And I feel like I

:39:12.:39:14.

have let so many people come out to see this race and I just feel like

:39:15.:39:19.

I've let so many people down. It is gutting. Absolutely gutting. I don't

:39:20.:39:26.

have any words to say, like. I know it is only like the Grand Prix, it

:39:27.:39:30.

is not the world champs, but it feels the same for me. This was a

:39:31.:39:35.

redemption race and to show I am back in good shape and running fast.

:39:36.:39:39.

I want to say sorry if you tuned in. That's all I can say, really. No

:39:40.:39:44.

need to apologise. When will that chance for you? I am racing in Sir

:39:45.:39:59.

ribbing, Berlin -- Zurich and Berlin.

:40:00.:40:00.

Thank you. THE COMMENTATOR: The next field

:40:01.:40:08.

event is the men's high jump. Robert Grabarz and Tom Gale, looking

:40:09.:40:16.

forward to see how he deals with this.

:40:17.:40:27.

Very light work of that. As you would expect, jumped 2. 35 to take

:40:28.:40:38.

gold last week. Barshim very impressive performance

:40:39.:40:40.

across the World Championships. Let's look at this from the side.

:40:41.:40:47.

Just a great clearance. He goes so vertical so well. Again at 2. 20, it

:40:48.:40:53.

is so easy. Too easy for Barshim, but Grabarz has a fall at this

:40:54.:40:58.

height. Already second attempt, 2. 20. Oh! Gave it a rattle. Came out

:40:59.:41:05.

of his arch early. You need to hold it, like a wheel turning you have to

:41:06.:41:09.

go around the wheel and think, oh, it's clear. Nearly went through it.

:41:10.:41:15.

It was a clearance for Grabarz. 2. 24 is the next height. Long strides

:41:16.:41:22.

turn to short as he takes the curb. Didn't time his hips rising there

:41:23.:41:28.

through the clearance. Here is Tom Gale. 2.30, he jumped, the

:41:29.:41:34.

18-year-old. Clearance at 2. 24. Look at that. A young man looking

:41:35.:41:40.

really good. First time I have really seen him jump in this sort of

:41:41.:41:45.

company. Looking good. He's improved 12 acceptsy metres this year. He

:41:46.:41:51.

comes off the floor so well. So, he's one of those prospects for

:41:52.:41:55.

the future that Britain can hopefully really look forward to. A

:41:56.:41:57.

map to join the senior team. Well, next on the track you can see

:41:58.:42:05.

the high jumpers. This is a race which doesn't have

:42:06.:42:29.

any outstanding favourites. Many of them ran in the relay at the World

:42:30.:42:32.

Championships. Yousif playing his part in that.

:42:33.:42:49.

Changed legs from the first round to the second round. Built around this

:42:50.:42:57.

man, Cowan, 32 years of age. Having a brilliant season, coming to all

:42:58.:43:00.

this a little bit late in his career. He started his career late,

:43:01.:43:08.

though, he'd say. Kevin Borlee n the semifinal for Belgium. Three of the

:43:09.:43:14.

Borlee family. He ran a 43 split. Vernon Norwood didn't make the

:43:15.:43:19.

American squad. He's a 44.4 man this year. Closest personal best. And the

:43:20.:43:27.

quickest in the field here. Brian Gregan, from Ireland.

:43:28.:43:35.

Semi-finalist individually. Well, Martyn became a father for the

:43:36.:43:40.

second time this week - a baby girl. Congratulations to him and his wife.

:43:41.:43:43.

Adding to that brilliant Bronze Medal. Seven World Championships for

:43:44.:43:50.

Martyn Rooney. On the inside this young man here, Josephus Lyles, from

:43:51.:43:54.

the United States - he's only 19. Just fresh from the pan American

:43:55.:43:58.

junior championships, where he won a silver medal for his country. A

:43:59.:44:02.

great talent he is. He's in lane one.

:44:03.:44:04.

So, it is not a Diamond League event. It is a bit of a chance again

:44:05.:44:10.

for the British athletes to take on some good opposition and perhaps,

:44:11.:44:13.

certainly for Martyn Rooney, he will look at the very least his season's

:44:14.:44:18.

best, ran great in the relay. It's been Dwayne Cowan who has been the

:44:19.:44:21.

Brit to follow. So Cowan in lane six. Rooney's in

:44:22.:44:32.

two. Rabah Yousif out there in lane seven. Yousif is watching that

:44:33.:44:37.

start. The French man going well. Right in the middle, Vernon Norwood,

:44:38.:44:43.

in the dark strip for the USA. Already chased up on Borlee. Cowan

:44:44.:44:50.

just left through that 200 metres. The American youngster Lyles has won

:44:51.:44:56.

a very good first 250. It is Rabah Yousif. Norwood, in contention here.

:44:57.:45:02.

Norwood with a two-metre lead. Here comes Cowan. Finishing quickly down

:45:03.:45:09.

the home straight. Will Cowan get there? Cowan wins it. 45. 35. Well

:45:10.:45:19.

done to Dwayne Cowan. His season gets better and better. At the

:45:20.:45:23.

beginning of the year he could not have dreamt what was ahead of him in

:45:24.:45:28.

2017. Went to the British Championships, having got the

:45:29.:45:33.

qualifying time and then got selected and then, as I said, in

:45:34.:45:37.

that relay, really raised his game. What about this for a win! In front

:45:38.:45:40.

of the home crowd. That race was a microcosm of his

:45:41.:45:55.

career. There was a point here at 200m where you thought, he has left

:45:56.:46:01.

this too late. But he kept holding. He wasn't losing any more ground.

:46:02.:46:05.

Vernon Millward is a very high-calibre athlete indeed, as you

:46:06.:46:12.

said. You can see that he is getting stronger and stronger. There is only

:46:13.:46:18.

one winner at this point. Beautifully timed race by Dwayne

:46:19.:46:22.

Cowan. That is the beauty of the 400m. Cowan has other wonderful

:46:23.:46:30.

season. He ran beautifully in the relay in the World Championships. It

:46:31.:46:39.

was a good one as well for Rabah Yousif for a while, but difficult to

:46:40.:46:43.

Dwayne Cowan finishing so beautifully. Well, his dad was the

:46:44.:46:49.

most famous man in the family for quite a while, but he is fast

:46:50.:46:55.

writing his own story here. That is a personal best. Not by much, a

:46:56.:47:08.

couple of hundredths. Let's just confirm the results. Another

:47:09.:47:17.

personal best for him, Phil? Yes, Steve. Another personal best for

:47:18.:47:20.

you. Your season keeps getting better. I am so happy I got a PB. I

:47:21.:47:28.

think it is my last 400, so it was my last chance. Tell me about the

:47:29.:47:34.

year overall when you came into it and you are thinking, what are my

:47:35.:47:38.

goals this year? How many have you ticked off the list? My goal was to

:47:39.:47:51.

get into the 44s. I PB'd three times this season. This is the Diamond

:47:52.:48:00.

League and I got the win, so I am happy. I got a bronze medal in the

:48:01.:48:07.

4x4. First Diamond League win. Build on it, blame. Well done. GABBY

:48:08.:48:15.

LOGAN: Congratulations to Dwayne, one of the great success stories of

:48:16.:48:20.

the season, the way he has come through reminiscent of Christine

:48:21.:48:22.

Ohuruogu, the way he finishes the 400m. You may have noticed the

:48:23.:48:32.

coaching similarity between them. One hour and six minutes to Mo Time,

:48:33.:48:37.

the last time we will see him run a track race in this country. The

:48:38.:48:41.

stadium is packed. We are seeing great athletics, but many of them

:48:42.:48:45.

are here to say goodbye and thank you to one of our greatest ever

:48:46.:48:49.

athletes, who has been so dominant in the last four or five global

:48:50.:48:53.

major championships. He was in reflective mood this week when

:48:54.:48:56.

talking to Phil Jones about his gold and silver performances in London.

:48:57.:49:03.

Most people dream of becoming world champions once or twice and have an

:49:04.:49:09.

amazing career. It would have been awesome to come away with two gold

:49:10.:49:16.

medals, but I have to settle for silver and gold. The ten was really

:49:17.:49:24.

tough. The guys made it so hard. Just four seconds off my personal

:49:25.:49:28.

best in the champs and then to come back in the 5K, I was pretty tired.

:49:29.:49:34.

My body was beaten up. Going into the last lap, I am normally at the

:49:35.:49:38.

front. I had nothing left. They have been trying for the last six years

:49:39.:49:44.

and finally, they did it. He gave everything. But actually, the colour

:49:45.:49:51.

of the medal might not mean as much as the sendoff. The sendoff was

:49:52.:49:55.

amazing. It was incredible to have so many people loving you and

:49:56.:49:59.

clapping you around the track. That moment will never be forgotten. I

:50:00.:50:03.

told myself that whatever happens, I'm going to finish in London. It

:50:04.:50:07.

would have been a little bit letter, but I got up result and there is

:50:08.:50:12.

nothing I could have done. I tried my best. It was still a special

:50:13.:50:18.

moment on that track. Farah is going to make it two gold medals for Great

:50:19.:50:24.

Britain! When you look back on your career, that was obviously the

:50:25.:50:29.

standout week. That was the one moment when I went to Mo. To come

:50:30.:50:36.

away with two gold medals in your hometown, it can't get better. This

:50:37.:50:40.

week, it's not as demanding or as nerve-wracking. Hopefully, I can

:50:41.:50:46.

take care of the race and come away with a good result and say goodbye.

:50:47.:50:50.

Birmingham has been good to me and the crowds have been amazing. I have

:50:51.:50:56.

seen it reported. Do we have to start calling you something

:50:57.:51:01.

different when you are on the road? No, Mo is my name. I just want to go

:51:02.:51:15.

as the Roadrunner, Mo. New mind, fresh. There will be guys running

:51:16.:51:19.

faster than me. It's about starting slowly. What do I need to learn?

:51:20.:51:24.

What does it take? I am sure you will do it with style. I hope so.

:51:25.:51:32.

GABBY LOGAN: Mo is coming up at 4:45 p:m.. Now is the women's turn. It is

:51:33.:51:37.

a loaded race for Andrew Cotter and Paula Radcliffe. This is a

:51:38.:51:41.

fascinating race, one that a huge number of people are looking forward

:51:42.:51:45.

to. We have specialists from a number of events. There are the

:51:46.:51:52.

steeplechasers, the wild cards. Gold and silver-medallists, the two

:51:53.:51:55.

Americans from the World Championships, Emma Coburn and

:51:56.:51:59.

Courtney Frerichs. We will see how they go. Emma Coburn will certainly

:52:00.:52:11.

run a big personal best. The German is there as well. And the tall,

:52:12.:52:14.

familiar figure at the back of Eilish McColgan. Hellen Obiri starts

:52:15.:52:20.

a strong favourite, Paula Radcliffe. She does. She convincingly won the

:52:21.:52:28.

other event in London. She has been running well all year. On paper,

:52:29.:52:37.

Hellen Obiri is the only one who has run close to the record. It will be

:52:38.:52:46.

interesting to see how quickly the likes of Emma Coburn can go. It is a

:52:47.:52:53.

big ask to step back from that victory and run competitively with

:52:54.:52:57.

the likes of Hellen Obiri. The athlete we didn't have a chance to

:52:58.:53:01.

talk about is on the inside in fourth position, Sifan Hassan. She

:53:02.:53:07.

tried the 1500 and 5,000 Dublin London. -- she tried the double.

:53:08.:53:14.

Eilish McColgan, this is her best distance. She was a steeplechaser,

:53:15.:53:22.

but it was too hard and her body was getting too many injuries. But if

:53:23.:53:25.

she were to pick a distance, it would be 1500. It would probably be

:53:26.:53:35.

the 3000m. She is capable of running very fast over 1500m. She is running

:53:36.:53:45.

very wide at the moment, right on the shoes of Konstanze

:53:46.:53:55.

Klosterhalfen. In training, because of how injury prone Eilish McColgan

:53:56.:54:00.

is, she can't do a lot of training. So she has to do the crosstraining,

:54:01.:54:04.

which means the strength is there, but she is struggling to see it come

:54:05.:54:08.

through over 5000m. They will come with time. She has already beaten

:54:09.:54:18.

her my time over 5000m. At the back, you might have caught a glimpse of

:54:19.:54:22.

Rosie Clarke. There is a good American tussle here because you

:54:23.:54:28.

have Molly Huddle, the US 10,000 metre champion who finished eighth

:54:29.:54:38.

in London, as well as Emma Coburn and Shannon Rowbury. The pace is

:54:39.:54:41.

pretty quick. Eilish McColgan is having to put out a steadying hand.

:54:42.:54:52.

Susan Krumins of the Netherlands will be a factor here. I wonder if

:54:53.:55:07.

Tuei is capable of taking the pace. She is behind now. But she is now

:55:08.:55:19.

starting to pick it up a bit and the field is stringing out behind her. A

:55:20.:55:32.

bit of daylight opening up behind Krumins.

:55:33.:55:42.

In Eilish's case, she moved to flat racing because it was easier on her

:55:43.:55:49.

body, so she very much respects the steeplechase. But there will be some

:55:50.:55:54.

runners who think you can't step over from the 3000m steeplechase and

:55:55.:55:59.

think you can run massive PBs and compete with us on the flat. The

:56:00.:56:04.

steeplechasers are starting to get a bit detached from the 3000m flat

:56:05.:56:13.

runners ahead of them. The Australian, Genevieve Lacaze, is

:56:14.:56:25.

there as well. Emma Coburn is just going through. Eilish McColgan is

:56:26.:56:36.

hanging onto the front group. She has the Scottish record in her

:56:37.:56:44.

sights. That has been held by Yvonne Murray for a long time. She is

:56:45.:56:49.

aiming for that and is definitely capable of running a personal best.

:56:50.:56:59.

1988, Yvonne Murray's Scottish record, 8:29.02. But out in front,

:57:00.:57:10.

Hellen Obiri and Sifan Hassan, two of the best in the world, setting

:57:11.:57:21.

the pace and lifting the pace. There are about nine athletes in the

:57:22.:57:27.

front, Eilish McColgan hanging onto the back of that group. Konstanze

:57:28.:57:32.

Klosterhalfen was disappointed with her World Championships. She will be

:57:33.:57:38.

wanted to make amends for that here. I heard she was sick there as well.

:57:39.:57:42.

Maybe that was why she was not able to run at her best. But she has a

:57:43.:57:51.

big range. I don't think she can compete with the likes of Obiri but

:57:52.:58:01.

she can a strong run. The slight figure of the German athlete, but

:58:02.:58:04.

what a talent she is. Eilish McColgan in seventh place at the

:58:05.:58:08.

moment. The front group is a long way clear of Emma Coburn and

:58:09.:58:15.

Courtney Frerichs. There were extraordinary results at

:58:16.:58:34.

the World Championships. But Obiri will be very tough to beat here.

:58:35.:58:38.

Sifan Hassan, who tried to do that double in the World Championships,

:58:39.:58:42.

is alongside Klosterhalfen. McColgan is in a decent position. She is. The

:58:43.:58:50.

pace has dropped a bit. Obiri leading, but not really wanting to

:58:51.:58:54.

lead at this point. She is making sure she has enough left for the

:58:55.:58:59.

surge she will make at some stage. She ran wisely in the 5000m, letting

:59:00.:59:06.

the frontrunner do all the work. Now it seems that Sifan Hassan is trying

:59:07.:59:10.

to recreate that. She has followed Hellen Obiri all the way. The bell

:59:11.:59:16.

sounds and still seven athlete in here. Sifan Hassan has great speed.

:59:17.:59:32.

A wonderful 800 and 1500m runner. Eilish McColgan is trying to stay

:59:33.:59:39.

with them. Five or six now separate themselves from the rest. Obiri,

:59:40.:59:51.

Klosterhalfen, kid can boy. The Sifan Hassan have something left?

:59:52.:00:00.

Hellen Obiri tries to give more, but Sifan Hassan rounds her. Obiri has

:00:01.:00:09.

gone. Sifan Hassan, stretching away. A big win for Sifan Hassan. McColgan

:00:10.:00:17.

fighting hard. McColgan will be just outside the Scottish record, but

:00:18.:00:21.

comes through in sixth place. A great run from the German,

:00:22.:00:24.

Klosterhalfen. But a very impressive win from Sifan Hassan.

:00:25.:00:30.

A great run from Sifan Hassan there. She was frustrated when she walked

:00:31.:00:35.

off the track, certainly from the 1500 metres and for the 57,000,

:00:36.:00:42.

maybe a little -- 5,000, maybe a little she was gaining in the 5,000

:00:43.:00:45.

metres. She was not able to get there. She walked away with a Bronze

:00:46.:00:50.

Medal and the form she showed in 1500 metres was more accurately

:00:51.:00:56.

reflect in that race today. She just shadowed Obiri, who was running wide

:00:57.:00:59.

and leaving that tantalising gap open and then closed it up at that

:01:00.:01:09.

point. Clos clogs going well. -- Klosterhalfen going well.

:01:10.:01:14.

McColgan got a shuffle and a shove. Here she was really struggling. You

:01:15.:01:18.

could tell she didn't have much left in her legs at this point, even to

:01:19.:01:23.

hold a straight line down that home straight.

:01:24.:01:32.

A great finish from Klosterhalfen to make amends for herself and to come

:01:33.:01:38.

away with a personal best there. A big, big personal best for

:01:39.:01:41.

Klosterhalfen, who has not run this distance as often as others have.

:01:42.:01:45.

Look at Hassan, the power she has - able to have a casual look to her

:01:46.:01:49.

side. Nobody there to threaten her. A very good run from Eilish McColgan

:01:50.:01:53.

as well, back in fifth place. It will be a personal best for Eilish

:01:54.:02:01.

McColgan by a fraction. But Hellen Obiri, perhaps a little

:02:02.:02:03.

disappointing. It is a personal best for Eilish

:02:04.:02:14.

McColgan, down to 8. 31 flat. Sifan Hassan, 8: 28.90. A personal

:02:15.:02:20.

best. A meeting record. A German record for Klosterhalfen.

:02:21.:02:33.

We've had a busy afternoon already. Lynsey Sharp finished second.

:02:34.:02:45.

After winning World Championship silver last week Wilson topped the

:02:46.:02:53.

pile today in the men's long drop. Katerina Stefanidi continued her

:02:54.:02:59.

undefeated, with another pole vault victory.

:03:00.:03:09.

O'Hare of Great Britain second a close second.

:03:10.:03:25.

Sophie Hahn won in the 100 metres. Jake Wightman was disqualified.

:03:26.:03:33.

Jonathan Peacock in the T44, 100 metres, he won at 11.03 seconds.

:03:34.:03:40.

There's some of the day's headlines. Let's get out to the field.

:03:41.:03:47.

Women's discus. Here is a look back.

:03:48.:04:11.

Caballero - the 27-year-old Cuban. In the second round, beyond 65

:04:12.:04:18.

metres there. So 65. 24. Her team-mates may chase

:04:19.:04:27.

in that same round. Yaimi Perez, down that left sector,

:04:28.:04:34.

gave it a good flight. Almost a similar distance. A very similar

:04:35.:04:41.

distance. 65. 11. That was enough for third.

:04:42.:04:48.

Real dominance from Perkovic, as we have seen from the last couple of

:04:49.:04:52.

years. The double Olympic champion. Now the double world champion. She

:04:53.:04:56.

saved her best for last. This was the sixth and final round. She

:04:57.:05:04.

already had a throw a 67. 32. And dropped that in at 6751.

:05:05.:05:14.

-- 67.51. That last-round throw. Held on to it

:05:15.:05:20.

a little longer. So another victory for Sandra

:05:21.:05:26.

Perkovic. So confirmation of their places

:05:27.:05:28.

there. Robert Grabarz in this high jump.

:05:29.:05:52.

Under some pressure here. He is a pressure man. He saw the young Tom

:05:53.:05:57.

Gale, 18-year-old team-mate go clear. Robbie... Too much for him

:05:58.:06:02.

today. He's had a real bumpy ride this year. He had his appendix

:06:03.:06:11.

removed in the winter. He did well in qualifying. Grabarz slightly down

:06:12.:06:23.

today again. But Grabarz equalled sixth at the World Championships

:06:24.:06:27.

last week. We are just about ready for the

:06:28.:06:33.

men's 110 metres hurdle. David King, one of a couple of Britons going

:06:34.:06:38.

here. Shane Brathwaite, sixth at the World

:06:39.:06:47.

Championships. Just doing enough to move through the rounds, get into

:06:48.:06:52.

the final. Andrew Pozzi, missed that final by just 100th of a second. He

:06:53.:06:57.

was leading in the semifinal until he hit the penultimate barrier.

:06:58.:07:03.

Again an indicator of what can happen in the hurdles. Ortega made a

:07:04.:07:07.

mess of the final in London. Cuban who now runs for Spain. And

:07:08.:07:13.

then Garfield Darien was cleared in bronze until hitting the ninth

:07:14.:07:19.

hurdle in the final. A very impressive athlete, indeed, Garfield

:07:20.:07:23.

Darien. Stepped one the absence of La Garb this season. And a popular

:07:24.:07:28.

man, Aries Merritt. Not quite to be in London. Fifth in the final for

:07:29.:07:32.

the former Olympic champion. The world record holder, who in 2012

:07:33.:07:37.

went below 13 seconds no fewer than ten times. A great title defence

:07:38.:07:43.

from this man, Sergey Shubenkov, running under a neutral flag in

:07:44.:07:46.

London. This is the flip side of the coin,

:07:47.:07:53.

for all the stories of near misses Balazs Baji got it right in London.

:07:54.:07:58.

Perhaps better athletes around him. He cut out the mistakes. Allen Devon

:07:59.:08:09.

missed out in London by 3,000ths of a second.

:08:10.:08:16.

For Andrew Pozzi this is, well, he's running against six of the London

:08:17.:08:20.

finalists here. This is the line he felt he should have been contesting

:08:21.:08:22.

against. It is here in Birmingham instead.

:08:23.:08:36.

One of the highest quality fields of the afternoon - the men's 110 metres

:08:37.:08:39.

hurdles. Well, that is Garfield Darien - I am

:08:40.:08:50.

sure it is Darien. There was a lot of twitching going

:08:51.:08:55.

on. But I think Darien was the man. Is there something about that lane,

:08:56.:09:00.

do you think? Yes, possibly. Possibly. Was he in that one, Adam

:09:01.:09:09.

Gemili? I don't know. Let's look to see if Garfield Darien... You said a

:09:10.:09:14.

little bit of twitching. Well, there was a couple inside him,

:09:15.:09:19.

Shane Brathwaite, actually no, well, we shall see. Why don't we stop

:09:20.:09:25.

speculating and see what the computer says.

:09:26.:09:30.

And nobody at the moment - are they still studying it? There's no real

:09:31.:09:36.

rush. Looking at the starters, they are thinking, what's going on. Just

:09:37.:09:39.

to the left-hand side of the runners. There is a big gathering

:09:40.:09:43.

there. Nobody is making any moves towards the start line as yet.

:09:44.:09:54.

Studying all the papers and notes. Lane five, Garfield Darien, is gone.

:09:55.:10:01.

That's a shame as well. Garfield Darien has been doing so well this

:10:02.:10:07.

season. But there are a couple of athletes gone. I think Shane

:10:08.:10:11.

Brathwaite. Shane Brathwaite has gone as well. Darien is taking all

:10:12.:10:20.

the camera work, but Shane Brathwaite has disappeared as well.

:10:21.:10:27.

In a more muted fashion. A Little Rock from David King at the top. A

:10:28.:10:35.

lot of rocking and rolling. Ready once again. I think Brathwaite

:10:36.:10:41.

might, well he was 0.8 as well. There he is.

:10:42.:10:47.

In false start corner. So King and Pozzi, Ortega, Merritt,

:10:48.:10:50.

Shubenkov, Baji and Allen Devon. This time away and Pozzi and King

:10:51.:11:06.

out quickly. Merritt now getting into his running.

:11:07.:11:09.

Shubenkov coming through now alongside Merritt.

:11:10.:11:14.

Pozzi beginning to... There is Merritt just about gets it from

:11:15.:11:20.

Sergey Shubenkov. It wasn't the cleanest or quickest race but a

:11:21.:11:25.

victory for Aries Merritt, still against a high-quality field.

:11:26.:11:30.

Merritt holding off Shubenkov. Andrew Pozzi unable to get close to

:11:31.:11:34.

them in the end either. A good win for Aries Merritt. A very, very

:11:35.:11:38.

popular figure from, that reduced field. Again a shame to lose

:11:39.:11:42.

Brathwaite and to lose Garfield Darien. I think it would have made

:11:43.:11:47.

it more competitive race, but Aries Merritt, the deserved victor. I

:11:48.:11:52.

spoke to Aries yesterday. He said to me, Colin, I am just tired. Looking

:11:53.:11:57.

at that race it was a tired victory by him. You know what, he's the

:11:58.:12:01.

worlds record-holder for a good reason - fast off the blocks, can

:12:02.:12:05.

get into that rhythm well. Once he gets into that really smooth, at

:12:06.:12:09.

times when he doesn't make any mistakes as well, that is when he

:12:10.:12:13.

will focus well. He takes control of this race early. Shubenkov will

:12:14.:12:17.

always make that charge. We expect him to do that but he clattered

:12:18.:12:21.

hurdles which is not like Shubenkov. I think that could have cost him a

:12:22.:12:23.

little bit. Just watching Shubenkov getting very

:12:24.:12:28.

close here. I was watching Andrew Pozzi as well. He's out of shot

:12:29.:12:34.

here. He clipped barrier number four. Aries Merritt - that has been

:12:35.:12:38.

a theme today for a lot of athletes. How can you be that tired. You do

:12:39.:12:43.

it, it is a cumulative thing and you target the World Championships and

:12:44.:12:47.

coming here a week later, it is very difficult. We may only think of the

:12:48.:12:51.

physical difficulty of it. It a east no t that tough for the athletes

:12:52.:12:53.

physically, because they are prepared very well. They are the

:12:54.:12:57.

best in the world for a good reason. Mentally it is difficult to lift

:12:58.:13:01.

yourself when you've had a very good championships, you've done your time

:13:02.:13:05.

celebrating and when you are frustrated with your performance

:13:06.:13:08.

sometimes you are still not lifted for another race. Time to tidy up

:13:09.:13:16.

the results. Untidy race and disqualifications as well. Merritt,

:13:17.:13:20.

the winner. Andrew Pozzi, down in sixth, ahead of David King and Pozzi

:13:21.:13:23.

is with Phil Jones. Thank you. Talking in comment tli

:13:24.:13:38.

there about -- talking to commentary there about how difficult it is -

:13:39.:13:42.

you have gone out and performed so well. I wouldn't call it well. A lot

:13:43.:13:48.

of us were very tired from the World Championships. It All about doing...

:13:49.:14:01.

Still to come out with a victory today? These gentlemen were all

:14:02.:14:05.

class. It is really good to get the win. Of course you want to run

:14:06.:14:09.

faster. Things happen - conditions are a thing. The weather isn't the

:14:10.:14:13.

best. But everyone has to run in it. And it's the UK. I love to come here

:14:14.:14:18.

and to run. I'm happy. We will let you warm down. We'll have a quick

:14:19.:14:23.

word with Andy. Obviously this is a good event for you to get some

:14:24.:14:28.

disappointment from the World Championships out of your system in

:14:29.:14:32.

That is the plan if you come out of the back of a major champs which

:14:33.:14:37.

didn't go so well. It is good to come back and remote vat yourself.

:14:38.:14:41.

We work all year for that one kind of chance at the major champs. It

:14:42.:14:45.

has been a tough couple of weeks. What does this hold for the rest of

:14:46.:14:48.

the season? I will have to wait and see. I have a few more meets lined

:14:49.:14:55.

up. We have to go back and see if it will be beneficial to do that or

:14:56.:14:59.

whether it is best to rest and get ready for next year. We appreciate

:15:00.:15:03.

you talking to us. Thank you. Thank you.

:15:04.:15:08.

The sprint stars take to the tracks in the women's 100 metres final.

:15:09.:15:16.

A stacked 200-metre contest. And it's Mo time for the final time

:15:17.:15:55.

on a British track as we say farewell to four time Olympic

:15:56.:16:03.

champion Mo Farah. That race is the last time we will see Mo Farah race

:16:04.:16:08.

on a British track. It is about 45 minutes away. You don't want to miss

:16:09.:16:12.

it. Thousands have come to say thank you for so many special days. He's

:16:13.:16:30.

got no room! Mo Farah! The greatest champions, one day it comes to an

:16:31.:16:35.

end. This chapter has closed. I want to say thank you to everyone who

:16:36.:16:40.

supported me. # Thank you for the days.

:16:41.:16:45.

# Those endless days, the sacred days you gave me.

:16:46.:16:57.

What a performance from Mo Farah! # I won't forget a single day,

:16:58.:17:00.

believe me. # Days I'll remember all my life.

:17:01.:17:13.

Beautiful! He's the double Olympic champion. My words cannot do justice

:17:14.:17:38.

to how I feel. # Thank you for those days, those

:17:39.:17:44.

endless days, the sacred days you gave me. This is world domination

:17:45.:17:58.

for Farah! He's sprinting for gold! He's running for greatness! Mo Farah

:17:59.:18:09.

is the world champion again. It's a fantastic 54 Farah. They

:18:10.:18:27.

succumbed to the inevitable, bow to his superiority. The double double!

:18:28.:18:46.

In front of his home crowd, in the city that he knows so well, the city

:18:47.:18:59.

he loves. He is a one man world superpower! It's gold four Farah!

:19:00.:19:12.

Incredible. Mo Farah is coming up in half an hour. Now it's the women's

:19:13.:19:17.

100m final. We are halfway through the line-up. Elaine Thompson in lane

:19:18.:19:22.

four. Levy is from Jamaica, not a familiar

:19:23.:19:40.

name. Five women in this field won a muddle of some sort in the relay,

:19:41.:19:46.

including Morolake Akinosun for the USA.

:19:47.:20:03.

The three we didn't see are four on the far side, Shaunae Miller-Uibo.

:20:04.:20:12.

And of course, Dina Asher-Smith. The 200m specialists are Elaine

:20:13.:20:30.

Thompson, and when I said five women had won a medal, you wouldn't think

:20:31.:20:33.

that one who didn't was Elaine Thompson.

:20:34.:20:49.

Dina Asher-Smith gets out very well. Schippers going with her. Look at

:20:50.:20:57.

the young Jamaican, but it's going to be Elaine Thompson. Thompson wins

:20:58.:21:02.

it from Ta Lou. Levy gets the third spot ahead of some big names. 10.93

:21:03.:21:09.

into a slight headwind. I keep saying this and we are probably

:21:10.:21:12.

going to repeat ourselves for the rest of the season. Elaine

:21:13.:21:18.

Thompson's one blip on a superb year was the final at the World

:21:19.:21:21.

Championships. She is probably going to keep winning. She will probably

:21:22.:21:25.

keep running under 11 seconds, and we will probably never look at that

:21:26.:21:30.

100m final again. Let's forget about that. It was a blip as you said,

:21:31.:21:39.

Steve. We had great expectations for the Diamond League in London. So we

:21:40.:21:46.

were thinking she could go under 10.7, but it didn't happen. Dina

:21:47.:21:58.

Asher-Smith ran a solid first 60m. Thompson is just beautiful to watch.

:21:59.:22:06.

She didn't respond to the gun, but it doesn't matter when you are as

:22:07.:22:10.

talented as she is. She has a great transition, good knee lift. Stays

:22:11.:22:15.

relaxed even though there is a lot of talent around her. She will be

:22:16.:22:19.

scratching her head all season, Steve, but I am sure she will return

:22:20.:22:25.

to the top soon. Well, she keeps winning these other races and she

:22:26.:22:29.

will have to put it behind her and move on. There are no major

:22:30.:22:33.

championships for them next year. Not a good run from Schippers. We

:22:34.:22:47.

will tidy up the results for you. Ta Lou was the only other one under 11.

:22:48.:22:56.

And Elaine Thompson is with Phil. Great to see you back in winning

:22:57.:23:00.

ways, Elaine. I wonder how it has been for you to rebound after the

:23:01.:23:04.

World Championships to deliver these performances? Well, first time

:23:05.:23:11.

competing in Birmingham on this track. I just picked myself up to

:23:12.:23:18.

focus. What has been in your mind post Championships? Honestly, I

:23:19.:23:26.

haven't got to think much. I just focus on the few races I have left.

:23:27.:23:34.

This is the real you, isn't it, winning? Sometimes I am all about

:23:35.:23:41.

winning and sometimes you have a bad day. My bad day was at the World

:23:42.:23:48.

Championships. What is next for you? Zurich. And have you got a busy end

:23:49.:23:54.

of season beyond that? I am taking it step-by-step. Just race these few

:23:55.:24:00.

races and then get some rest. You are a great Olympic champion. We

:24:01.:24:04.

look forward to seeing you more in this country.

:24:05.:24:09.

Great Britain's Tom Gale has jumped superbly well in this high jump. He

:24:10.:24:21.

is behind two world medallists. Too much for him today, but keep an eye

:24:22.:24:31.

on this young man. He is in very classy company. I know you have

:24:32.:24:37.

enjoyed his performance, Tony. He just sack a bit on those last three

:24:38.:24:44.

steps instead of running toll. Want to watch for the future, Tom Gale.

:24:45.:24:54.

Remember that name. The Syrian is popular. The bronze-medallist from

:24:55.:25:06.

the World Championships was really overwhelmed with that medal. Syrian

:25:07.:25:14.

bronze medal in the high jump. He is jumping with loads more confidence.

:25:15.:25:25.

Third attempt for Barshim. Classy jump. So two athletes have cleared

:25:26.:25:39.

2.31, and 2.33 is the next height. We ready ourselves for the men's

:25:40.:26:07.

200m. A very high calibre field here. Five of the finalists from

:26:08.:26:14.

London are here, including the champion. It has got a bit cooler

:26:15.:26:23.

here. You can feel a bit of dampness in the air. There will be heavy

:26:24.:26:26.

stuff this evening, but still mercifully dry. It was a

:26:27.:26:32.

disappointing games for the Frenchman. He is somewhat off his

:26:33.:26:40.

personal best. Isiah Young did make the final in London, but only ate

:26:41.:26:49.

there. Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake was just outside the medals, the anchor

:26:50.:27:05.

leg in the 4 x 100. The 200 was not outstandingly quick. Ameer Webb, the

:27:06.:27:16.

US champion, fifth at the World Championships. A very powerful

:27:17.:27:24.

runner. But there will be a warm welcome here for this man. One of

:27:25.:27:31.

the figures of the World Championships, with his lonely,

:27:32.:27:34.

defined one. Still has the quickest 200m title of the year in Madrid

:27:35.:27:40.

last month. Danny Talbot, a gold medallist in that relay quartet. And

:27:41.:27:46.

again on his home track, the Birchfield Harrier. Semifinalist in

:27:47.:27:54.

the 200 in London. Aaron Brown had a horrible time in the World

:27:55.:27:57.

Championships, disqualified from running fractionally out of his

:27:58.:28:09.

lane. It wasn't a 200m at the World Championships of the highest

:28:10.:28:15.

quality, but it was so competitive. We hope for no hangovers for the

:28:16.:28:19.

athletes here. Temperatures have dropped a bit. Don't expect

:28:20.:28:20.

blistering times. Guliyev finished strongly in the

:28:21.:28:51.

final in London and it is even at the moment. Makwala, the bots one,

:28:52.:28:58.

going strongly. Guliyev will try and hunt him down. Here comes Ramil

:28:59.:29:06.

Guliyev. Guliyev takes it. The Canadian ran well for third place,

:29:07.:29:11.

but Guliyev is the world champion. No hangover for him, no fatigue. The

:29:12.:29:18.

Turkish athlete takes the victory. At one point, Makwala looked as if

:29:19.:29:24.

he might be coming through to win, but Guliyev is the world champion

:29:25.:29:27.

and he wins it in a decent time in these conditions. I was looking at

:29:28.:29:39.

the wind, because that is always telling further 200m. They have do

:29:40.:29:44.

battle with it around the bend. But this was a solid one. He ran the

:29:45.:29:50.

same type of rice he ran when he won the world title itself. Nothing too

:29:51.:29:58.

electric around the bend. Perhaps many of these gentlemen are still

:29:59.:30:04.

very tired. Makwala get in front, but he didn't do the transition very

:30:05.:30:12.

well. That allowed Guliyev to ease himself through. That is what I love

:30:13.:30:23.

about the 200m. You think Guliyev is accelerating, but he is not. He is

:30:24.:30:29.

just decelerating less quickly than the rest as they go around the bend.

:30:30.:30:37.

Strength is his forte, and the ability to relax. If you tense your

:30:38.:30:41.

shoulders, that will restrict your movement. You want to keep a good

:30:42.:30:42.

range of movement. Mitchell-Blake and Talbot in fifth

:30:43.:31:01.

and sixth. What a time they must have had and

:31:02.:31:11.

to come back here today and celebrate it with a home crowd

:31:12.:31:16.

again. It is a shame I couldn't put on a better performance. But the

:31:17.:31:19.

crowd has been amazing. You have learnt that in the past, I

:31:20.:31:23.

know when you have been to championships and you have to pick

:31:24.:31:25.

yourself up again. It is different this time because you had that medal

:31:26.:31:30.

success happened a lot of our forry ya around it as well? It has been a

:31:31.:31:38.

strange week. We are not used to it. We have not been world champions

:31:39.:31:41.

before. Everyone has been so nice, so supportive. It is nice to come

:31:42.:31:45.

out here and see the British crowd again. It makes you hungry for more,

:31:46.:31:51.

I suppose? Definitely. It is a learning experience. I learn from it

:31:52.:32:02.

and get better in the future. I am interrupting here. We believe you

:32:03.:32:06.

are retiring and we want to say a massive thank you on behalf of all

:32:07.:32:10.

the athletes on the team. You are wonderful. We love to chat to you.

:32:11.:32:14.

And you are always so kind. We want to say a big thank you from all of

:32:15.:32:20.

Thank you one and all. A couple of words? I am not one for speeches. It

:32:21.:32:30.

means the world. Thank you. Thank you very much.

:32:31.:32:33.

It is not very often you see our Phil floored. It was a genuine

:32:34.:32:40.

surprise for Phil Jones. Denise is with me. I got goose bumps there.

:32:41.:32:45.

The reality hit there. We have known for a while it would be Phil's last

:32:46.:32:49.

meet with us. We will miss him. You can see the love and affection the

:32:50.:32:55.

athletes have for him. He knows what to say - whatever performance - they

:32:56.:33:02.

all gravitate to Phil. It is the first person they speak to. Win,

:33:03.:33:07.

lose - he's the one they pour their emotions out to. They celebrate with

:33:08.:33:12.

him. And, you know, he's just been a wonderful, wonderful reporter for

:33:13.:33:17.

us. And a real friend and, yeah, to a lot of people, the ath Lees

:33:18.:33:21.

included. So they -- athletes included. They will miss him. We

:33:22.:33:25.

will miss that voice. We wish him well. He's a great guy. Steve

:33:26.:33:35.

Backley. The champion, Rojas, way down the

:33:36.:34:20.

field, with 13.94. So, rallying some form, a week on, behind the lead of

:34:21.:34:24.

Williams. Maybe just a bit inspired more than the energies who spent

:34:25.:34:32.

their energy last week. It is 14. 14.44. That is exactly the

:34:33.:34:38.

same distance as Williams, but still in second place.

:34:39.:34:48.

Back on the track, on the far side, it is the women's 1500 metres. 17

:34:49.:34:57.

athletes, including the pacemaker, who will be Jennifer Meadows. Before

:34:58.:35:02.

these women go off, all of us in the commentary box would like to add our

:35:03.:35:05.

thanks and thoughts to Phil as well. We are getting to the last half an

:35:06.:35:11.

hour or so and even agreeing with all the words said about him. A nice

:35:12.:35:17.

gesture there. All of the international athletes who got to

:35:18.:35:22.

know Phil over the years. Including, I am sure Jenny Simpson. What a run

:35:23.:35:27.

from here at the World Championships.

:35:28.:35:36.

Laura Weightman, six, her best ever performance at a major global games,

:35:37.:35:40.

Commonwealth silver-medallist as well. Laura taking on a good field

:35:41.:35:45.

here. In terms of the Diamond League this is the woman who is leading it.

:35:46.:35:49.

A happy knack of sprinting to good positions and winning when the pace

:35:50.:35:54.

hasn't been so good. Cichocka of Poland, finished just

:35:55.:35:57.

behind Wightman at the World Championships.

:35:58.:36:01.

Arafi high up there in terms of points. That is what it is all about

:36:02.:36:11.

- Sarah McDonald. Quigley, disqualified in the Games. We saw

:36:12.:36:22.

the camera past Bahta. Five are guaranteed for the final. Eight

:36:23.:36:26.

women here could fill those seven places. So somebody is going to lose

:36:27.:36:27.

out. They all want to be in Brussels for

:36:28.:36:43.

the final. Including Jenny Simpson, she is the lowest ranks. Jenny needs

:36:44.:36:48.

to certainly come in the top two or three here to make sure she gets

:36:49.:36:52.

enough points. She's definitely capable of doing that. It is a big

:36:53.:36:59.

field. It is good they have a good pace-maker in Jennifer Meadows, who

:37:00.:37:04.

will take out the pace requested of her, about 2.8, 2.9. That is a good

:37:05.:37:15.

pace. It will string it out. It is only Tsegay who has gone with that.

:37:16.:37:20.

The rest are happy not to follow the quicker pace. A little bit quick

:37:21.:37:23.

through 300 metres. It is too much of a gap. It is OK the group holding

:37:24.:37:29.

off a little bit. This will be a pedestrian race for those behind

:37:30.:37:32.

Jennifer Meadows. A little swift there, really. The group paced

:37:33.:37:38.

around 64.5 seconds. Jenny has gone quick. Tsegay is capable of running

:37:39.:37:44.

a fast time. Others thinking, let's get this race

:37:45.:37:48.

moving and finally a bit of pace for the group there. They start to try

:37:49.:37:55.

to close this gap down. Simpson sitting there, happily as is Laura

:37:56.:37:56.

Weightman. She has a 5 l 3. -- personal best.

:37:57.:38:21.

Now it is Bahta trying to make up a bit of ground. They are starting to

:38:22.:38:30.

make inroads, but not quickly. You saw the other Ethiopian. We didn't

:38:31.:38:34.

see her for the rest of the summer. They approach 800 metres. The lead

:38:35.:38:40.

is 2.9. The group are about 2.11. Jennifer Meadows moves to the side.

:38:41.:38:45.

Tsegay finding herself out there in front. She has a good 20-metre lead.

:38:46.:38:52.

For somebody of the calibre of Tsegay that is a lead she could

:38:53.:38:56.

hold. They still have a lot of ground to make up. Bahta is there.

:38:57.:39:04.

Wightman. Chebet getting clipped by Cichocka behind her. The problem is

:39:05.:39:09.

nobody wants to help Bahta out with that. Jenny Simpson is happy to

:39:10.:39:13.

hover on her shoulder. Laura Weightman, maybe she will come

:39:14.:39:19.

around. She's putting hers into a position to -- herself into a

:39:20.:39:25.

position to challenge. The Ethiopian has gone quick and

:39:26.:39:31.

hard. Bahta chases. Simpson stuck for pace at the moment. Tsegay still

:39:32.:39:38.

out there in front. They are coming fast. The team-mate is making up the

:39:39.:39:47.

pace here. Seyaum has closed the gap. Chebet working from the front.

:39:48.:40:06.

Seyaum, Tsegay being chased be I the rest. -- being chased by the rest.

:40:07.:40:17.

Chased home. Chebet trying to get there. Others are closing the home

:40:18.:40:23.

straight. It will be Seyaum who will come home for the win. An easy win

:40:24.:40:27.

in the end. Others are trying to get there, but they won't. 4. 01, the

:40:28.:40:41.

winning time. Slow for the pack. Seyaum sprung out of the pack.

:40:42.:40:47.

The others who didn't chase hard. And it will be interesting, because

:40:48.:40:52.

I am looking at the finishing places, Jenny Simpson might find

:40:53.:40:55.

herself run out of a place. We will have to see in terms of the Diamond

:40:56.:41:01.

League final. Apart from Seyaum, I don't think many others can hold

:41:02.:41:04.

their heads up too high there. I don't think they can. The likes of

:41:05.:41:10.

Arafi, who finished so fast and grabbed that spot on the line, the

:41:11.:41:14.

third spot on the line, she finished very fast. She left it late.

:41:15.:41:19.

Bahta was rewarded for having done as much work as she had with that

:41:20.:41:23.

chase pack. Cichocka had a bad race there. She was boxed for most of the

:41:24.:41:28.

race. She came out wide at the end. She didn't have the leg to get past

:41:29.:41:39.

Bahta. Arafi, Chebet were qualified. Maybe Jenny Simpson will make it

:41:40.:41:41.

through. Back to the high jump.

:41:42.:42:03.

2. 33, first attempt. 2. 31 is his best this afternoon.

:42:04.:42:11.

And that failure maybe opens the door to Barshim. Let's look at this.

:42:12.:42:19.

He's unlucky. He clipped that with his head. That is why he was

:42:20.:42:26.

scratching his head. Mis-timed his arch. Went into it too early. It

:42:27.:42:32.

gets different every time. So the higher the bar, the longer you have

:42:33.:42:35.

to wait. A big scream from the champion,

:42:36.:42:41.

Barshim. Well, he took three attempts to get

:42:42.:42:45.

over the previous height, he now has a first attempt at 2. 33

:42:46.:42:52.

centimetres. Oh, he's got it! Brilliant stuff from Barshim.

:42:53.:43:01.

Goes out in front at the new height and really takes it to the Syrian,

:43:02.:43:14.

gas gas. S -- Ghazal. Gets better and better. That is excellent.

:43:15.:43:21.

Not the leg he's jumping on, that drives it so well. And the space

:43:22.:43:26.

between him and the bar. Stays away from the bar and a great arch.

:43:27.:43:37.

So then, with two passes at 2. 2.39, a line of the other jumpers in

:43:38.:43:43.

support of a new height of 2. 40. He's got it! Barshim goes clear.

:43:44.:43:57.

2. 40. Look at that! From the other jumpers - the first 2. 40-metre jump

:43:58.:44:05.

in Britain since 2000. So 17 years. A stadium record.

:44:06.:44:11.

It is a meeting record and it is a world lead for Mutaz Essa Barshim of

:44:12.:44:19.

Qatar. He's taking the bar home. Mr Barshim takes the bar home. He likes

:44:20.:44:24.

that one. He's keeping that! Well, what a beautiful jump. He has looked

:44:25.:44:27.

sensational. So composed. So still of body when

:44:28.:44:32.

he runs hard at the kerb. Nothing moves. It will be interesting to see

:44:33.:44:42.

if we get a replay of this. Look at that - 2. 40. A world best of 2017.

:44:43.:44:49.

There's the man who did it. Mutaz Essa Barshim of Qatar. A classy

:44:50.:44:56.

jumper and a brilliant performance. He's failed at 2. 39 twice. Elected

:44:57.:45:03.

to put the bar up at 2. 40 and look at the space! That could have been

:45:04.:45:08.

2.42 or more. That is why people around the world think this is the

:45:09.:45:14.

man who can break the world record. Two centimetres more - big

:45:15.:45:17.

celebrations for him. He 's got a lot to say. He's now talking to

:45:18.:45:19.

Phil. Congratulations! What a performance

:45:20.:45:27.

you have delivered yet again here in Britain. We don't get tired of

:45:28.:45:32.

seeing it. What is it like to do? I am very happy to be here in

:45:33.:45:36.

Birmingham and the UK less than a week, jumping good. Take a personal

:45:37.:45:41.

record. 2. 40, really happy with this height. I wanted the meeting

:45:42.:45:46.

record. I knew I was in good shape. I need to feel some pushing, some

:45:47.:45:53.

pressure. The crowds helped me out. We are jumping well together. I felt

:45:54.:45:57.

good, so I went for it. You are keeping the bar - you will not let

:45:58.:46:02.

anybody else have it, will you? I am taking that bar home. I will keep it

:46:03.:46:07.

somewhere. Every time I look at it I'll remember that jump. Well done.

:46:08.:46:09.

Thank you very much. Thank you. Our stunning performance by Barshim,

:46:10.:46:21.

and of course looking forward to the World Championships in Qatar and a

:46:22.:46:26.

couple of years' time. We are ready for the penultimate race of the

:46:27.:46:30.

afternoon, the women's 400m. And another strong line-up in this one.

:46:31.:46:35.

The gold, silver and bronze-medallists are all here.

:46:36.:46:51.

Noviene Williams-Mills is 35 now and made her sixth successive world

:46:52.:46:55.

final in London. Allyson Felix, only bronze in the

:46:56.:47:17.

400 in London, we say only! But there were another two golds for her

:47:18.:47:20.

collection in the 4 x 100 4 x 400 relay. But this woman became the

:47:21.:47:27.

champion, Phyllis Francis. She did it in the cool and wet conditions

:47:28.:47:31.

with a personal best in the final. She is from Oregon, which is damp

:47:32.:47:35.

and chilly, so she likes the conditions.

:47:36.:47:45.

Chrisann Gordon, the third Jamaican in this line-up, studying in Texas.

:47:46.:47:53.

Ran a good first leg for Jamaica in the relay but then MacLachlan pulled

:47:54.:47:55.

up in the second leg. Phyllis Francis took advantage as

:47:56.:48:12.

Shaunae Miller-Uibo faltered. Bahrain has a tendency now to import

:48:13.:48:39.

a few athletes, like some Middle Eastern countries. But Sarwar even

:48:40.:48:44.

Nacewa has a Bahraini and father and a Nigerian mother. Francis picked up

:48:45.:48:50.

the right time in the final in dismal conditions. I am sure it will

:48:51.:48:57.

not be long before Salwa Eid Naser does likewise. An announcement of a

:48:58.:49:07.

technical hiccup. So we are just going to have a little wait for the

:49:08.:49:11.

women's 400m while that is wheeled out. Keeping warm in these

:49:12.:49:18.

conditions. The temperature has dropped a bit.

:49:19.:49:30.

So they are willing in the new box. Again, my technical knowledge is

:49:31.:49:36.

being stretched to its limits here, but a new box of equipment is being

:49:37.:49:44.

brought in. Cables are being changed. It is a bit frustrating for

:49:45.:49:50.

the athletes here, staying warm. We will wait a few moments before we

:49:51.:49:59.

get the women's 400m under way. Whilst they fix the timing system,

:50:00.:50:06.

the triple jump is in its final stages. We saw Catherine a bargain

:50:07.:50:14.

in the previous round. But she needs to go beyond 14.44 to snatch victory

:50:15.:50:23.

here. It is a big effort. It's going to be close. Looks as though it may

:50:24.:50:29.

be over the line. It gets the white flag. Ibarguen has been dominant in

:50:30.:50:40.

the past and may have lost another victory here, right in the final

:50:41.:50:49.

stages. Look at this, Tony. That was a good hop. But the second phase is

:50:50.:51:10.

what made the difference. It is 14.51, which does mean victory for

:51:11.:51:14.

Ibarguen. Men's shot put, final field event. This is the Olympic

:51:15.:51:23.

champion. It is over 21 metres. We are in the fifth round. That is 21

:51:24.:51:36.

metres plus for the big American, Ryan Crouser. Waiting for his

:51:37.:51:50.

measurement. Smiles all around. This lot are entertaining the crowd at

:51:51.:51:55.

the moment, but we have a thumbs up from the man who has pressed control

:51:56.:52:00.

of the league and the women's 400m is good to go.

:52:01.:52:23.

And the way they go, Allyson Felix with that long, fluid style, already

:52:24.:52:30.

making up ground and pulling away from Phyllis Francis. Naser inside

:52:31.:52:40.

Francis. Closing in, Zoey Clark inside lane one, trying to keep pace

:52:41.:52:46.

with Gordon on the inside. But Naser has gone off so quickly. Already

:52:47.:52:53.

passing Phyllis Francis. Does Francis have anything left? Courtney

:52:54.:53:00.

Okolo leads them into the home straight, but Naser has great power

:53:01.:53:07.

as well. Okolo still going strongly, but it is Naser holding off Allyson

:53:08.:53:15.

Felix, who can't quite grow their -- get there on the line. It is not as

:53:16.:53:22.

quick as she won in London, but it's another very impressive scalp for

:53:23.:53:25.

Salwa Eid Naser, this 19-year-old from Bahrain will only go from

:53:26.:53:28.

strength to strength. Silver-medallist at the World

:53:29.:53:33.

Championships, and she beat the gold medallist. She is going places,

:53:34.:53:39.

Salwa Eid Naser. Very impressive. Holding off Allyson Felix and

:53:40.:53:45.

Courtney Okolo on the outside. You are going to see a whole lot more

:53:46.:53:48.

Salwa Eid Naser over the coming years. Really impressive run by the

:53:49.:53:55.

19-year-old. She knows the pedigree of Allyson Felix. So in her mind,

:53:56.:54:00.

she's thinking, if I can take her down, go past her and hold my form,

:54:01.:54:05.

everybody she knows is bit jaded. And look how she managed to do that.

:54:06.:54:17.

The 19-year-old just does enough. Takes it by a jiffy. That is a

:54:18.:54:23.

technical term, otherwise known as four hundredths of a second. She is

:54:24.:54:35.

19, but very powerful already. Yeah, she can go out hard, but keeps her

:54:36.:54:40.

form when it matters at the back end of the race. Huge potential. The

:54:41.:54:50.

rain has started to come down, but Naser wins the women's 400m.

:54:51.:55:03.

And the crowd are getting excited here, because on the far side from

:55:04.:55:08.

where we are, Mo Farah has come out with the rest of the 3000m field,

:55:09.:55:12.

the last event on the track today. And they know they are going to see

:55:13.:55:17.

the great Mo Farah for the final time in a British track event.

:55:18.:55:25.

Double double Olympic champion, six world golds, two world silvers and a

:55:26.:55:28.

haul of medals, the likes of which we will have to wait a long time to

:55:29.:55:33.

see again. We have been blessed to have Mo Farah competing in our

:55:34.:55:39.

lifetimes, Denise Lewis. We are. We have been talking about this for

:55:40.:55:44.

weeks, months. I can't believe today it is actually happening. It feels

:55:45.:55:48.

like I have been watching Mo since he was a youngster, the talent

:55:49.:55:52.

everyone was talking about. You just wondered what his destiny would hold

:55:53.:55:58.

in athletics. He has been the most decorated athlete we have ever seen.

:55:59.:56:02.

He has pulled the crowds. We are going to miss him. British athletics

:56:03.:56:09.

will miss him in terms of the medals he has provided in the last three or

:56:10.:56:13.

four major championships. And the crowds will miss him because he

:56:14.:56:17.

always gives such exciting races. We have come to expect him to win the

:56:18.:56:22.

way he does. He has hopefully inspired the generation behind him.

:56:23.:56:27.

How many young athletes have we heard talking about how they want to

:56:28.:56:30.

emulate his achievements? That is a great legacy. Not just in what he

:56:31.:56:37.

does on the track, but everything he does fit, his lifestyle, his

:56:38.:56:40.

attention to detail, looking for that extra second. It is a way of

:56:41.:56:46.

life and if young athletes want to learn anything, it is about how to

:56:47.:56:49.

become a champion, and that is through sheer commitment. So, for

:56:50.:56:56.

the final time on the track, over to you, Steve Cram and Paula Radcliffe

:56:57.:57:05.

for Mo Farah's last race. Yes, a day which has finally come, Mo's last

:57:06.:57:09.

race in Britain. His last race will be in Zurich in the Diamond League

:57:10.:57:13.

final, bar but this is his last race in Britain and a chance for the fans

:57:14.:57:18.

to say thank you. He already had a great reception when he came into

:57:19.:57:22.

the stadium earlier in a very nice car. Let's listen to his reception

:57:23.:57:24.

now. He has been to Birmingham so many

:57:25.:57:39.

times and tracks around the UK. That is upside down! It is a tribute to

:57:40.:57:50.

the people killed in Barcelona. He has written on his arm. I can read

:57:51.:57:55.

it now. That was the Spanish athlete. He is understandably paying

:57:56.:58:03.

tribute to those who were part of that tragedy in Barcelona earlier in

:58:04.:58:09.

the week. For Mo, it is not a great field against him, and why should it

:58:10.:58:14.

be in your last race? You should be allowed to go out in style with a

:58:15.:58:19.

win. There is nothing at stake here other than a chance to reflect on

:58:20.:58:23.

some memories and a chance for the crowd to show their support. And you

:58:24.:58:37.

can hear it now. It is a 3000m race, seven and a half laps of the track,

:58:38.:58:45.

and a race in which Mo is the British record-holder. It took him a

:58:46.:58:54.

while to get that. It used to be held by Dave Moorcroft and like many

:58:55.:59:01.

other records, the 1500, the 10,000, the half marathon, all now belong to

:59:02.:59:07.

Mo Farah, the best British athlete of those distances ever. And in

:59:08.:59:15.

terms of medals, I am not sure he will ever be surpassed. If anyone

:59:16.:59:21.

does, it would be a heck of an achievement. The time being, it is

:59:22.:59:26.

just a chance to reflect on what has been the incredible career, not

:59:27.:59:31.

really of two halves. People ask where Mo Farah was before, and it is

:59:32.:59:35.

worth reminding people of how good an athlete he was as a youngster,

:59:36.:59:39.

winning the mini marathon in London and winning plenty of cross-country

:59:40.:59:43.

races. He was a fixture from a very early part of his career. He was

:59:44.:59:48.

never a case of doubting his talent, it was whether he could harness it

:59:49.:59:52.

properly. Plenty of people had a part to play in that. Alan Storey in

:59:53.:59:57.

the early days, his schoolteacher. Then as he got better and went to

:59:58.:00:01.

the World Championship and Olympic Games, others had a role. Ian

:00:02.:00:08.

Stewart for a while, then Barry Fudge. Then he went to America to

:00:09.:00:12.

work with Alberto Salazar. That was the point at which his career took

:00:13.:00:17.

off, turning him into a winner, Paula. That is the thing we will

:00:18.:00:22.

remember about Mo Farah. He hasn't broken world records, but he has

:00:23.:00:23.

become a winner. He probably got a lot of help from

:00:24.:00:38.

Alberto and him teaching him to keep his body strong and ease down enough

:00:39.:00:42.

before races. That is a big factor in why he didn't perform,

:00:43.:00:47.

particularly in Beijing, 2008. He trained very well going into that.

:00:48.:00:52.

That's Something he'll have to learn for the marathon, when he moves up.

:00:53.:00:56.

We talk about it being his last race and he'll be emotional out there and

:00:57.:01:00.

he'll want to enjoy it and get some energy from the crowd and remember

:01:01.:01:03.

times on the track. It will not be his last time on a track. He'll

:01:04.:01:07.

train a lot on the track and he'll move to a new challenge in the

:01:08.:01:11.

marathon and have to learn that almost again. Yes, so it will not be

:01:12.:01:18.

the last time you see him racing in Britain. He'll be on the roads in

:01:19.:01:22.

future. It is not as though he'll have to not pounding out reps around

:01:23.:01:29.

the track if he's going to have a good marathon career and 10 K on the

:01:30.:01:36.

road - whatever he chooses to do. A decent pace set by Kibet and Birgen.

:01:37.:01:42.

Birgen, who has run, both of them have raced Mo many times and

:01:43.:01:47.

repaying the favour. Two very good athletes setting a pace. Asked for

:01:48.:01:54.

2.32. 2.33 they went through in. The field is strung out. In front of Mo

:01:55.:02:05.

Farah is Mechaal. He ran well in the Anniversary Games. Behind them is

:02:06.:02:10.

Andrew Butchart, who is learning so much from having the opportunity to

:02:11.:02:15.

train alongside Mo Farah, to spend time in training camps alongside

:02:16.:02:18.

him. He's got a future ahead of him on the track. He's wanting to learn

:02:19.:02:25.

as much as he can from Mo before Mo waves goodbye to the track. It might

:02:26.:02:29.

not have been emphasised enough and you and I have witnessed it

:02:30.:02:40.

first-hand in Kenya, in Ethiopia, in Flag staff, the way Mo operates.

:02:41.:02:46.

Remember when he first moved to the Kenyan house in Teddington and he

:02:47.:02:52.

got a whoa these guys train a different way, saw how they slept

:02:53.:02:55.

and approached their training and Mo's been the same for a lot of our

:02:56.:03:06.

endurance athletes. Paid every attention to detail tail, and the

:03:07.:03:15.

altitude training for the endurance programme. These guys get to see up

:03:16.:03:19.

close and personal that Mo Farah is not an alien. He goes out, trains

:03:20.:03:25.

hard, backs it up with all the preparation around that and they see

:03:26.:03:28.

what they need to learn from that. Andrew Butchart, a case in point,

:03:29.:03:33.

probably learnt from that final in London in the World Championships.

:03:34.:03:37.

He didn't really run his own race. He wants to race. Come out with a

:03:38.:03:42.

personal best. He's run 7. 37 this year. It is a big ask for him. So a

:03:43.:03:47.

good pace being set. Andrew Butchart seems to be up for it today. Mo, as

:03:48.:04:03.

as we said, I am being reminded by our statistician who has given us

:04:04.:04:09.

the stats, he's said Mo's never broken the British record for the

:04:10.:04:14.

mile, mainly because he's hardly ever run it. Butchart is out in

:04:15.:04:21.

front, with Mo Farah and Mechaal, good 1500-metre runner. The young

:04:22.:04:25.

Kenyan there, Kiplangat, as well. These four well clear of the rest,

:04:26.:04:33.

with two laps to go. Two laps to go. Through the rain that Andrew

:04:34.:04:36.

Butchart, being Scottish, is probably used to. Mo behind him,

:04:37.:04:44.

letting him do the work for the time being and waiting. He'll be aware

:04:45.:04:48.

that Mechaal is sitting behind him too. Tiernan is trying to get back

:04:49.:04:52.

to them. I am not sure he'll be able to. He led for a while at the World

:04:53.:05:00.

Championships. Butchart, Farah, Kiplangat, Mechaal,

:05:01.:05:04.

600 metres to go. This is where Mo Farah over these last years has

:05:05.:05:09.

completely dominated events. Only in London, in that very last chance to

:05:10.:05:12.

win another gold medal did he falter. But so many times he's taken

:05:13.:05:18.

the race on from this point and he's pulled fields apart. He's often had

:05:19.:05:22.

to wait until the home straight, until the last few metres to be sure

:05:23.:05:26.

of the win. He might have to do that today. He'll have to dig in a little

:05:27.:05:30.

bit. With 400 metres to go, he's still got company. Mechaal might be

:05:31.:05:37.

the danger here. I am not sure he'll have the speed to take on Farah.

:05:38.:05:43.

Mechaal is working very hard. He's got enough to get past Kiplangat.

:05:44.:05:48.

Has he got enough to challenge Mo Farah on his final lap of honour

:05:49.:05:54.

within this race? The crowd rise down the back straight to cheer on

:05:55.:05:57.

Mo Farah through the last 200 metres. Surely he's going to reward

:05:58.:06:01.

them with a victory on home soil. Mechaal though is going to make sure

:06:02.:06:07.

it is a good, hard, honest race over the last 200 metres. Mo Farah enters

:06:08.:06:10.

the home straight. Takes one look behind. He checks there's no change.

:06:11.:06:15.

He changes through the gears. This is the sight that everyone has come

:06:16.:06:19.

to see. Everybody is on their feet here. The final sprint, the final

:06:20.:06:27.

chapter, the final win for Mo Farah in Britain.

:06:28.:06:38.

The winning time 7. 38.65. No gold medals today, just the

:06:39.:06:43.

satisfaction of a man and an athlete who knows that he has given so much

:06:44.:06:49.

joy to so many people for such a long time. We have been saying a few

:06:50.:06:55.

goodbyes this season. This is yet another one, which is hard to make

:06:56.:06:59.

and hard to accept in terms of what he's going to do on the track.

:07:00.:07:05.

That's it. And Farah, all of those brilliant

:07:06.:07:10.

races and the gold medals he won were all hard fought and hard won.

:07:11.:07:16.

And that's what I think endured him to the British -- endeared him to

:07:17.:07:20.

the British public. It was never as easy as it has been for some. It was

:07:21.:07:28.

always a graft and I think, I said at the World Championships that

:07:29.:07:32.

competitive spirit of his always shone through. There he is, draped

:07:33.:07:36.

in the British flag, as ever. I will hand down there in a second. It is

:07:37.:07:41.

two goodbyes. One to Phil and one to Mo. They have both been brilliant.

:07:42.:07:48.

For the final time Phil Jones interviewing Mo Farah.

:07:49.:07:51.

Thank you for your kind words. What a sendoff you have received here

:07:52.:08:00.

today. How has it been for you? Last week I was a bit tired. A little bit

:08:01.:08:04.

of down time with the family to relax. It's been amazing. It's been

:08:05.:08:09.

amazing. This is it. What are the emotions coming in today? High, not

:08:10.:08:14.

as high as London. One last time at home. Great support from the home

:08:15.:08:20.

crowd. Really enjoyed it. You wanted to win - give them a winning send

:08:21.:08:26.

off. As you are going around are you taking in this is the last time we

:08:27.:08:30.

see you on the track in this country? Not at all. Trying to get

:08:31.:08:36.

it right obviously a strong athlete. The Spanish guy who finished fourth

:08:37.:08:40.

at the Worlds. What about these people - all these people who have

:08:41.:08:43.

cheered you and supported you? It is amazing. This is what it's about.

:08:44.:08:48.

This is what we dream of. It is amazing to have the home crowd and

:08:49.:08:52.

amazing people throughout my career. I just want to thank everyone who

:08:53.:08:56.

supported me and followed my long journey. We will see you in Zurich,

:08:57.:09:03.

then it is marathon running. But give us a word, try and sum up for

:09:04.:09:09.

me, even if you can what being on a track in Britain means to you? It

:09:10.:09:15.

means everything to me. I never dreamt to become four times Olympic

:09:16.:09:21.

champion, multitimes champion. All I would dream of as a youngster is to

:09:22.:09:27.

run for Great Britain. You compete in the world juniors, you go through

:09:28.:09:31.

the rank and you dream of becoming Olympic champion. You do it and to

:09:32.:09:36.

have an amazing career, and I just want to continue and see what I can

:09:37.:09:40.

do on the road with that. You have a target. Under pressure and really

:09:41.:09:50.

enjoy it. Of course I will... As an athlete you become, a hobby,

:09:51.:09:52.

something you enjoy, it becomes a job. I love what I do. It is part of

:09:53.:09:57.

it. Sometimes it can get a little bit hard when you have so much

:09:58.:10:01.

pressure, you cannot go anywhere. Now it will be a completely new

:10:02.:10:06.

game. I am excited. So you should be. You have lived the dream on the

:10:07.:10:11.

track. We hope you continue to do soen. Thank you to everyone. Great

:10:12.:10:21.

support from insta game and twitter. -- instagram and Twitter. I

:10:22.:10:25.

appreciate it. The end of an era. That is for sure.

:10:26.:10:31.

His era will go on. A new era for Mo Farah on the roods. We will not see

:10:32.:10:35.

him -- on the roads. We will not see him again on the tracks in this

:10:36.:10:40.

country. After this season there'll be no more Mo time. It is a great

:10:41.:10:45.

sadness for us. We have loved this period of athletics, having him

:10:46.:10:49.

light up these meets and global meets, always delivering. So very

:10:50.:10:53.

rarely do we say Mo Farah was down to race, for some reason he pulled

:10:54.:10:59.

out. He was incredible at making his body in peak condition, at the right

:11:00.:11:03.

time. Mentally and physically ready. I think it is important to realise

:11:04.:11:06.

that it is He's happy. He's achieved more than

:11:07.:11:13.

most, more than so many athletes set out to. And so this is a new

:11:14.:11:18.

challenge for him. I think, yes, we bid farewell, say thank you. Let's

:11:19.:11:24.

look forward to the next chapter of his life, which will hopefully

:11:25.:11:28.

conjure up that newness for him. Sometimes it has felt like a job and

:11:29.:11:31.

he started off running because he loved it and it with us a hob yip

:11:32.:11:37.

and perhaps that's what -- a hobby and perhaps that's what he's hoping

:11:38.:11:43.

to get back. You then feel like you have the stress because you take

:11:44.:11:46.

response blingt for the role you've had. You didn't set out to be that

:11:47.:11:51.

particular way. For him it is a real fresh beginning. I am really pleased

:11:52.:11:56.

that he's enjoyed it. He said at the end, he'll go back, he'll enjoy

:11:57.:12:01.

running on the roads, being all, starting all again. So, for me it is

:12:02.:12:04.

just fantastic to see him finish with a smile and a victory, of

:12:05.:12:07.

course. Well, he's wandering off the track

:12:08.:12:13.

there. I am sure he'll be back to sign autographs and do selfies. The

:12:14.:12:18.

shot put was wrapping up as that race was going on.

:12:19.:12:32.

That is a big throw down the left sector.

:12:33.:12:40.

Tomas Walsh - a real surprise victory last week a head of the

:12:41.:12:46.

champion, Crouser. Let's look at this - good balance as he spins over

:12:47.:12:51.

that left side. Quick of feet. You cannot see it in that shot. Hip,

:12:52.:12:59.

followed by the shoulder and off the shot put goes. A slight improvement

:13:00.:13:06.

on the last round. That hands it to Crouser, who has the last say in

:13:07.:13:12.

this competition. Very last put of Crouser, the

:13:13.:13:18.

Olympic champion. Sixth in the World Championships amid a bit of

:13:19.:13:24.

controversy. Last effort of this shot put competition. High, but it

:13:25.:13:28.

will fall short of 21 metres. Once again hands the victory to Walsh.

:13:29.:13:33.

So, great performance from Tomas Walsh.

:13:34.:13:38.

To suggest to anyone who didn't believe, or suggested it was a

:13:39.:13:42.

surprise victory, once again for Tomas Walsh of New Zealand. 21. 83,

:13:43.:13:48.

ahead of Ryan Crouser. There's Tomas Walsh.

:13:49.:13:54.

Well, there is plenty more athletics for you to look forward to. Zurich

:13:55.:13:59.

highlights on Saturday. Mo Farah racing there. Brussels highlights on

:14:00.:14:03.

Saturday 2nd, 1. 1.15pm. What a day the Great North Run

:14:04.:14:25.

always is. Let's talk about the performance of the day. Denise, you

:14:26.:14:34.

have been Mullering over! In the men's 400 metres. Fantastic

:14:35.:14:39.

personal best. And his first Diamond League win. Brilliant. Anyone who is

:14:40.:14:43.

aspiring, never give up. He's 30-plus. Late to the sport and

:14:44.:14:47.

winning a Diamond League for the first time. Fantastic.

:14:48.:14:51.

As you say, late in kind of his development, but to win a World

:14:52.:14:57.

Championship medal, great for him. Anything you want to highlight? It

:14:58.:14:59.

has to be Barshim in the high People have tired legs - he's the

:15:00.:15:08.

world champion and then jumps a world lead. Everybody has their head

:15:09.:15:15.

down with excuses. And Tom Gale, the 18-year-old, a star of the future,

:15:16.:15:17.

we hope. What about Mo Farah for you today?

:15:18.:15:21.

It is not writ no-one the stars, is it? -- written in the stars, is it?

:15:22.:15:25.

He wanted to go out with a victory and he had to fight a bit to get

:15:26.:15:28.

that today. The biggest thing for he Daley him

:15:29.:15:40.

to keep under control was probably his emotions, because it is a big

:15:41.:15:44.

thing for him to say thank you to those who have supported him. He

:15:45.:15:48.

tried not to look too much before he started the race. He wanted to win,

:15:49.:15:52.

and then when he finished, you could see the emotion starting to hit him.

:15:53.:15:57.

And there he is, out on the track, Mo Farah. I said he would be out

:15:58.:16:01.

there to sign autographs and take those selfies. We all want to thank

:16:02.:16:06.

Phil Jones as well. It is his last time working for us on the

:16:07.:16:11.

athletics. But we have love this guy, Mo Farah. Thank you for

:16:12.:16:20.

everything. He's boxed, he's got no room! Mo Farah fights for the

:16:21.:16:27.

shoulder! The greatest champions... One day it comes to an end. This

:16:28.:16:32.

chapter has closed. It's been incredible.

:16:33.:16:40.

# Thank you for the days, those endless days, the sacred days you

:16:41.:16:47.

gave me. What a performance from Mo Farah!

:16:48.:16:56.

Beautiful! He's the double Olympic champion. My words cannot do justice

:16:57.:17:32.

to how I feel. # Thank you for the days, those

:17:33.:17:37.

endless days, those sacred days you gave me. This is world domination

:17:38.:17:47.

for Farah! # I won't forget a single day,

:17:48.:17:55.

believe me. He's sprinting for gold, he's running for greatness! Mo Farah

:17:56.:18:13.

is the world champion again. It's the fantastic five for Farah. They

:18:14.:18:26.

succumb to the inevitable, bowl to his superiority. The double double.

:18:27.:18:42.

He is in front of his home crowd in the city he knows so well, the city

:18:43.:18:55.

he loves. He is a one man world superpower! It's gold for Farah.

:18:56.:18:59.

Incredible. Partners In Rhyme, the show that's

:19:00.:19:06.

all about finding rhymes.

:19:07.:19:10.
