This is one of Northern Ireland's most famous and frightening

:00:50.:00:56.

landmarks. Thousands flocked here every year to take a few steps. It

:00:57.:01:06.

is pretty scary but nothing is as exhilarating as the International

:01:07.:01:11.

Northwest 200. It produces some of the most spectacular motor cycle

:01:12.:01:17.

racing you will ever see. We have plenty great action for you coming

:01:18.:01:22.

up but he did the reminder of what has happened so far. -- here is a

:01:23.:01:26.

reminder. He has got an awful lot of ground to

:01:27.:01:56.

make up. From 16 he is now in the leading pack. The chequered flag.

:01:57.:02:33.

As we get underway for the third and He now takes the chequered flag.

:02:34.:02:55.

As we get underway for the third and final time tonight... Alistair

:02:56.:03:05.

Seeley already. The come out of the corner together. Can Alistair Seeley

:03:06.:03:17.

catch MIchael Dunlop? He takes the chequered flag. A great start for

:03:18.:03:25.

Northern Ireland with three wins including a double for Alistair

:03:26.:03:31.

Seeley. He goes into the record books. Who better to give buyers a

:03:32.:03:42.

map of this run? -- to give us a map of this run. We are in sixth now

:03:43.:03:58.

before we go down to it. We are carrying a bit more speed. It is

:03:59.:04:12.

back on 100% throttle. We are not using so much of the track here. You

:04:13.:04:17.

follow the leader when you go into it cause you cannot pass going

:04:18.:04:24.

around it but you can do the pass on the way in and get the drive out. It

:04:25.:04:31.

is very bumpy. Probably the one pierced part of the costs. There are

:04:32.:04:39.

a lot of bumps if you tried to make a pass on the inside. Coming out of

:04:40.:04:47.

this chicane I usually dressed to the right but get it pulled back to

:04:48.:04:54.

the left as quick as I can. You switch across to the right. It is

:04:55.:05:02.

the same line I have used for years and it seems to work. Getting off of

:05:03.:05:08.

work has been the hardest thing in the last few years. You have to hold

:05:09.:05:19.

the title I'm going into this hell, Ricky much whoever does will win the

:05:20.:05:28.

race. -- pretty much. Alistair Seeley is the most successful rider

:05:29.:05:35.

almost, the late Robert Dunlop is just ahead of him. We followed his

:05:36.:05:42.

son MIchael Dunlop as he got the few training tips from the Ulster rugby

:05:43.:05:54.

team. His brother William has also been sampling another type of sport.

:05:55.:06:00.

He paid a visit to the Belfast Giants ice hockey team and caught up

:06:01.:06:07.

with a school friend who now plays for the team.

:06:08.:06:30.

Have you been on the ice before? It has been a while now. Make sure you

:06:31.:06:47.

bend your knees and get the weight down there. How was it being a

:06:48.:06:57.

Belfast Giants for D-day? A bit tricky, mice gating is not up to

:06:58.:07:07.

scratch. -- for the day. I have stated a little bit before. So much

:07:08.:07:14.

speed and power I could not get away with it, it is unbelievable. --

:07:15.:07:24.

skated a little. His skating needs work, he does not go so far died on

:07:25.:07:34.

the bike. But he was OK. -- does not go so fast as he does on the bike.

:07:35.:07:44.

It is the staying in one piece or on one spot when you have ice skates

:07:45.:07:55.

on. It is not easy. Is your appetite really whetted this year? Yes. It

:07:56.:08:05.

has been tested. Being with the local boys is the main thing for me,

:08:06.:08:11.

I feel really at home with them. I am feeling good for it. I'd macro

:08:12.:08:21.

sticking to bikes for now? Yes I am. He will be hoping he is not wobbling

:08:22.:08:28.

around the circuit. Joining me is the only man to have ever recorded

:08:29.:08:34.

five wins in a single day around this circuit. The weather is not so

:08:35.:08:39.

good as it was for the first day's rethink. The windows up and the race

:08:40.:08:49.

has -- rain has stopped. -- the wind is up. They have to watch their

:08:50.:08:58.

braking and acceleration. For the forecast we have got we could not

:08:59.:09:03.

wish for much better. I'd macro apart from Dunlop who are the main

:09:04.:09:13.

contenders? The Suzuki man, the two Yamaha 's, we have two condos. --

:09:14.:09:41.

Honda is. Josh Magennis is carrying a injury that he has had since the

:09:42.:09:51.

winter. Gary Johnson who is hungry for a Northwest 200 win. I'd macro

:09:52.:10:12.

here is the starting bread. They will join our race commentator.

:10:13.:10:22.

Tiger choice is a big worry for everyone on this bed. Most of them

:10:23.:10:38.

have a cut front tyre. We are away. First race of Saturday. It is the

:10:39.:10:45.

number eight byte getting a good start. They are all streaming down

:10:46.:10:50.

towards Primrose Hill. start. They are all streaming down

:10:51.:10:57.

that, the number two bike almost ran into the back. It is just damp, not

:10:58.:11:01.

really wet at the moment but it is into the back. It is just damp, not

:11:02.:11:09.

further around the circuit. It is a cracking start for Bruce. We are

:11:10.:11:17.

looking back at the number 12. By Martin is still sorting himself out.

:11:18.:11:19.

It is early days Martin is still sorting himself out.

:11:20.:11:35.

rest are now setting out. That is a great start from Bruce. He may be

:11:36.:11:41.

senses that the conditions will suit him here. Keith has got a wet the

:11:42.:11:51.

year tyre. Down towards the station corner you can see it is tricky

:11:52.:11:56.

conditions, it is damp but there is a fair hit of the net. Look how much

:11:57.:12:07.

trust PR placing in each other and in the machinery. We are bored with

:12:08.:12:19.

Bruce Anstey. Look at the focus on those eyes. We are going 175 mph.

:12:20.:12:26.

Gary Johnson leads it, behind that, Bruce, and behind that, Michael

:12:27.:12:30.

Rutter. Here is the moment when Gary Johnson stole passed up the inside

:12:31.:12:36.

of Michael Rutter. And look at Bruce Anstey round the outside. They have

:12:37.:12:40.

clear visors on, we can see their eyes looking out in front. Gary

:12:41.:12:46.

Johnson. Down towards the roundabouts, and again, it is still

:12:47.:12:53.

damp conditions. A bit squarely around there. That was Josh Brookes

:12:54.:12:58.

there. Gary Johnson and Bruce Anstey. It is dry around here. He

:12:59.:13:04.

will have to think about that. Yes, the wettest part is down at the

:13:05.:13:10.

bottom, but we come out of the roundabout, still on board with

:13:11.:13:15.

Bruce Anstey. The Kiwi. He has raced here many times, and one a few times

:13:16.:13:16.

as well. He goes for the line on Gary

:13:17.:13:26.

Johnson, doesn't find it at the chicane. Josh Brookes drops it in

:13:27.:13:32.

there, third position. He is on the Yamaha. On board again, listen to

:13:33.:13:38.

that Triumph. What a beautiful sound. A lot of talk and a lot of

:13:39.:13:44.

speed. Looking for the opportunity they go up towards the chicane. A

:13:45.:13:48.

quicker chicane, not such a dead start. It is getting into it

:13:49.:13:54.

steadily and getting the exit and out of it, that is the important

:13:55.:13:58.

part about it. Bruce there, Josh Brookes, Lee Johnston. And now it is

:13:59.:14:02.

starting to get a bit wetter as they exit. Down towards the Metropole,

:14:03.:14:07.

and you can see why they need those tyres. When they did the siting lap

:14:08.:14:14.

down here, at onto the Coast Road at Blackhill, that is possibly the

:14:15.:14:20.

fastest part of the circuit today. The wind is right behind them as

:14:21.:14:24.

they come down here. Very easy to get your breaking wrong. You can see

:14:25.:14:29.

the spray at the hurtle down. Careful over the white lines and the

:14:30.:14:33.

drain holes. Tiptoe around here. You just have to be careful with the

:14:34.:14:37.

throttle, and be judicious as you apply it. Gary Johnson, Bruce

:14:38.:14:42.

Anstey, Lee Johnston on Josh Brookes. That was nice, wasn't it?

:14:43.:14:49.

Tidy as he slipped it through. Josh Brookes is still learning his way

:14:50.:14:51.

around, it is only his second time around. On board with Bruce Anstey

:14:52.:14:57.

again. They are looking to corners ahead, virtually, using their body

:14:58.:15:04.

weight is to move the Honda. We are looking back from Michael Dunlop's

:15:05.:15:08.

machine. Here they come. The charge of the light Brigade. Lee Johnston

:15:09.:15:11.

has come all the way through down the outside into Juniper. He has got

:15:12.:15:17.

it going. On board with Gary Johnson. Lee Johnston out in front

:15:18.:15:18.

now. The few spots of rain here now. Lee Johnston looking very good

:15:19.:15:26.

indeed. We have not seen a lot of Alastair Seeley in this race so

:15:27.:15:31.

far. We know he had a fairly heavy cut. There he is. Yes, a fairly

:15:32.:15:39.

heavily cut front tyre, but he is being gobbled up in his section of

:15:40.:15:42.

the course. This is where he is strongest. He should be stronger on

:15:43.:15:46.

the wet bars. On board with Michael Dunlop. Here is his brother William.

:15:47.:15:53.

William, obviously, the reputation as a small bike rider, and that bike

:15:54.:15:58.

has a reputation as well. Conor Cummins, in the pit. Not good for

:15:59.:16:07.

Keith Amor, because he qualified extremely well. Lee Johnston leads

:16:08.:16:12.

this race down into the hairpin. That wet tyre is coming into play,

:16:13.:16:15.

Conor Cummins hanging onto the back of that group here. Bruce has

:16:16.:16:19.

dropped back a bit, after leading in the early stages. It is anyone's

:16:20.:16:25.

race still. Alastair Seeley has come on strong, up into second place. Lee

:16:26.:16:29.

Johnston, does he know? He can't afford to turn round will stop you

:16:30.:16:34.

lose so much momentum if you look around in these races. Here, they go

:16:35.:16:42.

onto long straight, Josh Brookes well back here. He had a little

:16:43.:16:46.

moment there. Slipstream coming into play. Alastair Seeley about to take

:16:47.:16:50.

the lead. He won the first Supersport race here on Thursday.

:16:51.:16:57.

Into station corner again. I think in these conditions, both of those

:16:58.:17:02.

men... Oh! Gary Johnson! Up the inside! Both of those race winners,

:17:03.:17:08.

from our Thursday night session, but non-are expecting Gary Johnson. I

:17:09.:17:11.

don't think they are expecting what will either. Slipstream again, Gary

:17:12.:17:15.

Johnson managing to find a bit of track on the inside as he dies down

:17:16.:17:19.

there. It is all about the zone there. They are concentrating so

:17:20.:17:26.

much on each other. There is Bruce, slotting into third. Very late and

:17:27.:17:32.

very brave on the brakes. He has got it dipped in there. Gary Johnson

:17:33.:17:36.

just got shuffled back into forthcoming around University. More

:17:37.:17:43.

rain, getting wetter and wetter. Will this ball into the hands of

:17:44.:17:46.

analysis Ely? He tucked in the front.

:17:47.:17:50.

That front tyre is working for him now. I don't know what Lee Johnston

:17:51.:18:00.

has here. He is intermediate, front and Rea on the East Coast Honda, so

:18:01.:18:03.

that would be a better tyre for the dry part of the circuit. Alastair

:18:04.:18:11.

Seeley's, heavily cut. You can start to see the rooster tail is coming

:18:12.:18:14.

out of the back of the come-down. This is about 175 mph. The

:18:15.:18:20.

slipstream works its bit of magic. Lee Johnston pops out. Has he ever

:18:21.:18:26.

done it? Yes, he has. He is in trouble. He has slowed everyone else

:18:27.:18:31.

down at the same time. Will he just gets snapped up now? He will lose a

:18:32.:18:34.

place for sure on this straight. You would think so, but his mistake

:18:35.:18:39.

blocked everyone else as well. Bruce is there, trying to get past. And

:18:40.:18:46.

there goes Bruce. You can see there is not a lot in it. Here comes Gary

:18:47.:18:55.

Johnson. Not quite close enough. But look at league, on the brakes

:18:56.:19:00.

again. He is a demon on this. Remember, this is Michael Dunlop's

:19:01.:19:03.

winning machine from last year, so he has got the right bike to do all

:19:04.:19:08.

of this on. He has always had the ability, now he has the machinery.

:19:09.:19:12.

The man is on fire this weekend. One under his belt, he wants another.

:19:13.:19:16.

Alastair Seeley have two and once more. Down they come. Alastair

:19:17.:19:21.

Seeley, defensive line, he is on the inside, keeping a tight line. Lee is

:19:22.:19:25.

going to tip it then. That came very close to touching bare.

:19:26.:19:31.

Alastair Seeley is perhaps not expecting Johnson to be this

:19:32.:19:36.

brochure is only 600. Alastair Seeley, the 600 rider every

:19:37.:19:40.

weekend. He is used to short-circuits, but I don't think he

:19:41.:19:42.

is expecting Lee short-circuits, but I don't think he

:19:43.:19:47.

quite this strong on the road. Lee's Yamaha

:19:48.:19:53.

quite this strong on the road. there. Shoulder to shoulder! Over

:19:54.:19:56.

Blackhill, a blind corner. You can't see how steep it is, and you can't

:19:57.:19:57.

see a thing until you get to see how steep it is, and you can't

:19:58.:20:04.

top. Yellow microbrews has seen all this before. He might just think, I

:20:05.:20:08.

will have a toe around here and see what they get up to. I'm sure he was

:20:09.:20:13.

grinning. Jostling going in front. They are going to trip one another

:20:14.:20:17.

again. Still trying to that same piece of tarmac. Bruce is

:20:18.:20:22.

again. Still trying to that same with intent. He had a little luck,

:20:23.:20:26.

didn't he? He decided that he didn't really want to get that involve. The

:20:27.:20:28.

good thing is, really want to get that involve. The

:20:29.:20:33.

you can put plenty of heat into those intermediate tyres, so

:20:34.:20:35.

you can put plenty of heat into will have more grip on the wet

:20:36.:20:37.

parts. It just helps your confidence knowing you have heat in the tyres.

:20:38.:20:41.

Conor Cummins is still clinging on in fourth position. Lee Johnston

:20:42.:20:46.

leads Alastair Seeley. Jeremy McWilliams watching, he will be

:20:47.:20:50.

going out shortly. He is trying to work out what the conditions. I

:20:51.:20:53.

think he wishes he part of this race. First, second, third, and

:20:54.:21:01.

fought, Primrose Hill towards York Road corner. Lee Johnston with

:21:02.:21:04.

Alastair Seeley, coming up the inside now I'm thinking better of

:21:05.:21:15.

it. Bruce Anstey. Lee looks around. Over the crest of the hill. The

:21:16.:21:19.

front wheel leaves the ground, and he tries to land it as smoothly as

:21:20.:21:22.

you can. You are about to turn right, as you are about to turn

:21:23.:21:25.

right, Isaac and Siebel stock Conor Cummins coming over the top there.

:21:26.:21:33.

He gets a bit more air. Oh! A lovely shop there. It is all still to play

:21:34.:21:39.

for. Is that Alastair Seeley in front of Lee Johnston? No, still

:21:40.:21:45.

second. We are neck and neck down towards

:21:46.:21:48.

the station corner. Lee Johnston sticks in front. It is who has got

:21:49.:21:52.

the bravery through here. I think CV will be slightly better, and I would

:21:53.:21:56.

have thought Lee Johnston has a bit of an advantage. You can see the

:21:57.:22:00.

slipstream here. Sealey is back through. And a very firm pass from

:22:01.:22:05.

Alastair Seeley, but did he do it too soon on this very long

:22:06.:22:08.

straight? Lee Johnston think so. He has not only got through, he has got

:22:09.:22:11.

the tract position. He has not only got through, he has got

:22:12.:22:15.

line when they get to university, and now Lee Johnston moves over to

:22:16.:22:19.

close the door. Bruce is coming at the outside. Brews have the

:22:20.:22:22.

slipstream from both bikes, nearly touch of the white line. That would

:22:23.:22:24.

have been touch of the white line. That would

:22:25.:22:29.

second. Alastair Seeley didn't quite get the Tote are going to leave. He

:22:30.:22:34.

is right behind Johnston now. Sealey has a good line through, he might

:22:35.:22:41.

well get the drive through and run on brews. I guess it is still

:22:42.:22:44.

raining down this section here. Not heavy rain, but enough to keep it

:22:45.:22:50.

very wet and very greasy. And of course, he has got that front tyre,

:22:51.:22:54.

a lot of grip to turn the bike and get it stood up. Lee Johnston, that

:22:55.:22:59.

Honda, is making some horsepower. It is Michael Dunlop's bike from last

:23:00.:23:04.

year. Dunlop coming on strong towards the end of this race. Second

:23:05.:23:14.

gear corner. All about getting the power laid down as you exit. So,

:23:15.:23:20.

gear corner. All about getting the Bruce up in front. This is a tricky

:23:21.:23:23.

gear corner. All about getting the chicane, as we have seen. They are

:23:24.:23:25.

all quite difficult in the wet. That is why I think the riders dislike

:23:26.:23:30.

them the most. Here comes Lee Johnston on the run down. Another

:23:31.:23:33.

look over his shoulder, didn't seem to slow him at all. Would merely

:23:34.:23:39.

have blown his head off at the speed! Alastair Seeley take the

:23:40.:23:44.

lead. I would have put money on Lee Johnston in the braking zone. What

:23:45.:23:46.

about Bruce Anstey, though! He Johnston in the braking zone. What

:23:47.:23:53.

the iron man, the old soldier. Finished eighth in the first race

:23:54.:23:57.

here on Thursday, but he is at the sharp end at the moment, still a lot

:23:58.:24:01.

of rain here now. It is raining quite hard as they run down towards

:24:02.:24:05.

Metropole. Here comes Alastair Seeley from behind Bruce Anstey. He

:24:06.:24:08.

goes streaking past, but Anstey is not having any of that. He just

:24:09.:24:12.

moves him over, takes his line, getting ready for the brakes. Back

:24:13.:24:18.

wheels up in the air in those conditions, just shows... He

:24:19.:24:25.

steadied himself. And he held up Bruce Anstey, and Alastair Seeley

:24:26.:24:30.

almost ran into the back of Bruce Anstey. You don't overtake here, do

:24:31.:24:34.

you? You do if you are Alastair Seeley, but it was nice and smooth,

:24:35.:24:38.

he got the past done before the corner. Now, and need the railway

:24:39.:24:43.

line. Again, it does not look like sharp corners, but at these speeds,

:24:44.:24:47.

they must use every bit of the track. How about that? That is

:24:48.:24:50.

something special. Alastair Seeley is so fast over the top of

:24:51.:24:55.

Blackhill. You may do look so easy. It is so difficult to do that. Was

:24:56.:25:00.

that a dress rehearsal for the last lap he macro he will know full well

:25:01.:25:05.

he won't get away from these two. Alastair Seeley, Lee Johnston, Bruce

:25:06.:25:08.

Anstey. Spectators urging them on. They don't need any

:25:09.:25:11.

Anstey. Spectators urging them on. really know. Dry here. This is the

:25:12.:25:17.

part where I would have said Bruce and league might possibly get a bit

:25:18.:25:23.

more grip. But suddenly, Alastair Seeley pulled out, and he has got

:25:24.:25:26.

through the backmarkers very nice and cleanly. That was Nigel Raine,

:25:27.:25:34.

number 31. -- Nigel Rea. That could complicate the issue for all of them

:25:35.:25:37.

and change the complex and of the race for them if they get

:25:38.:25:41.

backmarkers in between themselves. Sealey, Johnston, and Anstey. On a

:25:42.:25:50.

600, you can see how physically bigger hears than all the rest of

:25:51.:25:54.

the guys. It is not so bad in the braking zone, but trying to go down

:25:55.:25:57.

the straight, he will struggle more than the rest. So, we start the last

:25:58.:26:02.

lap. Any one of these guys could win this

:26:03.:26:08.

race now. Sealey gets out of the corner well. Up towards the

:26:09.:26:12.

roundabout. It is all important now. This roundabout, coming out of it,

:26:13.:26:15.

and getting the launch onto the straight is vital. Sealey, short

:26:16.:26:21.

circuit. He knows what to do. Late on the brakes, but

:26:22.:26:23.

circuit. He knows what to do. Late behind him, following his line. Good

:26:24.:26:28.

work for all of them. No advantage or disadvantage. Alastair Seeley

:26:29.:26:32.

already had two wins here, on Thursday night. Could this be his

:26:33.:26:36.

third? Gary Johnson. Dropped off the battle. You can see why as he nips

:26:37.:26:44.

past. We look down on to this battle for the lead. Has that just

:26:45.:26:49.

polarised away from Bruce Anstey? These to come out of the corner

:26:50.:26:52.

little bit better, and Alastair Seeley might just be about to lose

:26:53.:26:56.

the lead. I think he is, but there are another three straights to go,

:26:57.:27:00.

or four, for that matter, before we get down to the Metropole, and that

:27:01.:27:04.

is often where the race is decided. Look at this! That slipstream

:27:05.:27:09.

effect. He has come from about 50 yards back to being 50 yards in

:27:10.:27:12.

front, and I am sure that his eyes are smiling. They used the tow from

:27:13.:27:19.

both those bikes to get a really good launch. Conor Cummins almost

:27:20.:27:22.

got one as well. Alastair Seeley, now third, he was first. When he

:27:23.:27:30.

started out, out of the roundabout, he was there, but now he is third.

:27:31.:27:34.

Bruce definitely enjoying this. Yes, from the fifth row of the fifth row

:27:35.:27:37.

over Gray, a pretty special start. We know how important that is. As we

:27:38.:27:43.

go into the roundabout at the final time. And deacons to international

:27:44.:27:45.

race meetings looking like he is just got out of bed and can be

:27:46.:27:50.

bothered to do anything very much, and then he always gets on the

:27:51.:28:01.

podium somewhere. The always put a good motor cycle underneath him.

:28:02.:28:07.

This again is a change of lead. Bruce goes through the chicane. He

:28:08.:28:12.

stops there to have a look and let them through. Just got in their way

:28:13.:28:22.

to port. The tailwind. The braking zone has to change. Here we go.

:28:23.:28:31.

First to fourth. Alistair Seeley and Johnson go head-to-head. This is the

:28:32.:28:33.

final lap. -- Lee Johnson go head-to-head. This is the

:28:34.:28:44.

Seeley would be the most experienced guy around this circuit. He just

:28:45.:28:50.

seems to not be able to out-brake Lee Johnston. This is the important

:28:51.:28:54.

one. Look at that speed there again. one. Look at that speed there again.

:28:55.:29:00.

We talk about slipstream but it really did make a big difference

:29:01.:29:07.

there. They are touching. Oh dear. Into the wall. Alistair Seeley is up

:29:08.:29:16.

but his bike is finished. The crew are going over. Conor Cummins is now

:29:17.:29:27.

in the lead. Bruce is back in front. I believe, now looking at this.

:29:28.:29:33.

Alistair Seeley on the inside is trying to get on the brakes. I do

:29:34.:29:38.

not know if he locked up the front wheel there but oh my, those safety

:29:39.:29:44.

features have done their work. I do not think they would have got round

:29:45.:29:48.

there like that with their elbows intertwined. Bruce is the first one

:29:49.:29:55.

through, Bruce and see. What about this then? We said his eyes were

:29:56.:29:59.

through, Bruce and see. What about smiling. He will be quite pleased he

:30:00.:30:04.

has got some clear there in front of him. Now he has Conor Commons right

:30:05.:30:12.

up his real cracks. Is it still Gary Johnson in fourth place? It is going

:30:13.:30:16.

to be the New Zealand national anthem the play when this is over.

:30:17.:30:23.

Bruce takes the chequered flag. Corner right behind him. There might

:30:24.:30:28.

be some controversy about him going through the chicane. I let them go

:30:29.:30:53.

and went through. I thought I'd be late and I was just hanging on to it

:30:54.:31:00.

and was going to bring it home. Treacherous. It was a bit of a

:31:01.:31:08.

lottery but these days. Brilliant. And other international and another

:31:09.:31:15.

win. An incredible record for Bruce. He has been on the podium

:31:16.:31:23.

here every year for the last 12 years another crowd favourite is

:31:24.:31:28.

Michael Rutter. He was another favourite to break the record back

:31:29.:31:45.

in 2004. We caught up with him. There is always a huge buzz around

:31:46.:31:51.

the north coast. One man who knows all about it is Michael Rutter. He

:31:52.:31:59.

has been coming here for 22 years. We thought they would give him a

:32:00.:32:04.

chance to see one operation that goes on here all year round.

:32:05.:32:24.

Thankfully it is a bit more sedate out here today. Not so rocky as it

:32:25.:32:34.

has been sometimes. They'll macro it is amazing. Talking about the

:32:35.:32:41.

experiences of going out to wreck skew people, it is an amazing job

:32:42.:32:51.

what they do. -- rescue people. You have been volunteering here as long

:32:52.:32:58.

as Michael Rutter has been coming here for the race. That is right. I

:32:59.:33:04.

am glad he has brought the weather with him this time. You wanted to

:33:05.:33:16.

equal or better the record? Yes. Obviously he is not year now but it

:33:17.:33:20.

would be nice to win just for myself really, not to break someone else's

:33:21.:33:27.

record. There are a lot of good Irish lads. It is going to be very

:33:28.:33:39.

difficult. Taking on that last lap, around the coast road, that is where

:33:40.:33:46.

I want to win. Good luck. The RNLI certainly provide a fantastic

:33:47.:33:53.

service. Their crews were at the 1500 hrs last year. His very first

:33:54.:34:01.

win was back in 1997 and he beat this man. He may not be the man to

:34:02.:34:09.

watch because MIchael Dunlop is in pole position. I think Michael will

:34:10.:34:16.

be a strong opposition. These bikes were brand-new last week. He has

:34:17.:34:21.

never rode them before. Three months ago he was taking a year out from

:34:22.:34:27.

racing unless he got the deal he wanted. BMW came up with the deal he

:34:28.:34:34.

wanted and now he is out on the grid. He does not lack confidence.

:34:35.:34:40.

He has got the wet tyres on his bike and he will definitely be a force to

:34:41.:34:49.

be reckoned with. Take a look at the other side of the dead. There is a

:34:50.:34:56.

spear space there. Alistair Seeley has decided not to race. He took a

:34:57.:35:05.

little knock. He will sit this one out. It looked like a big knock to

:35:06.:35:17.

me! Yes, by road racing standards. Here is the starting grid. Josh

:35:18.:35:23.

Brookes surprised Here is the starting grid. Josh

:35:24.:35:28.

600 race just now. Michael Rutter looks down. Tyre choice not really a

:35:29.:35:37.

question, is it? We have had a bit more rain.

:35:38.:35:46.

We are riding in the spree. You can see how wet it has become. We have

:35:47.:35:55.

had a shower since the last race. This is such a damp circuit. Martin

:35:56.:36:06.

and Dunlop. Her cheek up the inside on Michael Rutter, yes, he has gone

:36:07.:36:13.

through there. He hurt his hand in practice. He has the top of one

:36:14.:36:17.

finger missing on his right hand but he is going behind the bubble and he

:36:18.:36:27.

is pulling away. He is away like a scalded cat at the moment.

:36:28.:36:33.

Absolutely brilliant. As you say he has those butterfingers. Something

:36:34.:36:40.

else that is the bigger injury in the real world! Look at that. That

:36:41.:36:51.

is some lead. Are we they go through station corner. Guy Martin is owing

:36:52.:37:01.

well with Bruce Anstey, the winner of the previous race. -- going well.

:37:02.:37:12.

James Hillier in the spree coming out of the slipstream. Here it is at

:37:13.:37:13.

work. -- the spree. That is quite out of the slipstream. Here it is at

:37:14.:37:24.

extraordinary. The tyres are superb. Plenty of debt. -- plenty of grip.

:37:25.:37:37.

Michael Rutter on the link road getting past. Hutchie makes his

:37:38.:37:53.

escape. He certainly does. Conor Cummins is just all over the big

:37:54.:38:01.

bike. Over 200 horsepower they are trying to put down at the moment.

:38:02.:38:08.

Tom of these bikes have a bit of traction control. William Dunlop,

:38:09.:38:18.

no, Guy Martin. He overdid it. He went straight on and who has gone

:38:19.:38:24.

with him? I think it is Josh Brooks. He was just a little bit to greedy.

:38:25.:38:31.

He has to try to set off and see what he can do. Hutchie, I do not

:38:32.:38:38.

know what he has had for breakfast but he is pulling away. And look at

:38:39.:38:52.

the big spree, that is not easy. -- big spray. They have cut from a

:38:53.:39:02.

seven lap race to a five lap race because of the conditions. There are

:39:03.:39:09.

no dry bits all around the circuit. You can see the spree coming off of

:39:10.:39:16.

the back wheels in front of him. It is difficult. It was impressive the

:39:17.:39:24.

way he got the bike outside. Guy Martin making up for lost time at

:39:25.:39:33.

the chicane. Under the bridge. The first of five times. MIchael Dunlop

:39:34.:39:41.

is making turns all be time. He is the man to be watching. Look at

:39:42.:39:49.

that. He came right off of the ground. Was that William Dunlop? It

:39:50.:39:57.

was. Here is Conor Cummins. He is coming down the outside. We are on

:39:58.:40:19.

board with Dan. The Suzuki. The new surface has a reasonable amount of

:40:20.:40:24.

grip here. He goes around the outside and then dies down the

:40:25.:40:32.

inside. A good move there. -- dives down the inside. He is taking Conor

:40:33.:40:45.

Cummins with him. It is first, second and third year. They seem to

:40:46.:40:54.

be gapping. They have got away. It makes a big difference. You have a

:40:55.:41:02.

nice clear view in front of you. This is William Dunlop's move. As

:41:03.:41:08.

they go into the second lap everything is up and tight. William

:41:09.:41:20.

unlock looks for a pass on Hutchie. I can bet you anything he gets the

:41:21.:41:26.

drive out of here and down station corner. He is leaving Conor Cummins

:41:27.:41:36.

on acceleration. He is right by him Hutchie. This is the big one, they

:41:37.:41:42.

believe Conor Cummins up. If he going to do it? He has got through

:41:43.:41:49.

there. A little bit more camber making it a faster corner but you

:41:50.:41:53.

would not recommend it to anyone in these conditions. Front wheels off

:41:54.:42:00.

off the ground at 180 mph in the rain. Do not try this at home. Yes.

:42:01.:42:09.

This is not the fastest part of the circuit today because of the wind.

:42:10.:42:19.

Hutchy get on the brakes a little bit. Look at that. William Dunlop

:42:20.:42:29.

sliding in. Why, Michael Dunlop... Bruce Anstey into the pits. No

:42:30.:42:33.

repeat win for him. That is a shame for him. Usually, they don't have

:42:34.:42:35.

bikes need to go for him. Usually, they don't have

:42:36.:42:39.

the middle of a race. Look at the bikes squirming around. A lot of

:42:40.:42:42.

that is to do with the tread blocks moving around with the wet tyres,

:42:43.:42:48.

but I can tell you, it takes... Here we go. Conor Cummins. For second

:42:49.:42:55.

place. He is nearly double the size. Good old parachute braking when he

:42:56.:42:58.

sits up. It is like that in the air brakes on. Look at this. Conor

:42:59.:43:02.

Cummins get his foot down. He takes Hutchy with him. Conor Cummins did

:43:03.:43:06.

that a little bit too quickly. He is looking for Hutchy to let him pass.

:43:07.:43:10.

He knows full well that he took Hutchy with him, and so all very

:43:11.:43:16.

gentlemanly here today, Hutchy in him both had to take telegraphs. In

:43:17.:43:22.

the pits, they compare hens and braces, domain? They are both full

:43:23.:43:25.

of bolts and steel and bits of metal. I suspect that has helped

:43:26.:43:29.

Michael Rutter. The slipstream, got was incredible. I would have thought

:43:30.:43:34.

Rutter would have closed up more. William Dunlop out in front. Michael

:43:35.:43:39.

Dunlop is still putting in fast times. This is still all to look at.

:43:40.:43:44.

Here stopping. That is a shame for him. Stopping on the run up to

:43:45.:43:51.

university. Conor just can't get it stopped. Luckily for him, Hutchy saw

:43:52.:43:55.

him coming out of the corner of his eye, and they both took to the

:43:56.:43:58.

grass. Look at that impressive work there. The pavement would have had

:43:59.:44:05.

more grip. Quite a nice line through the chicane. Gentlemanly behaviour

:44:06.:44:09.

all around, as we saw. It will all work to the benefit of William

:44:10.:44:12.

Dunlop. While they were busy losing time on the grass and waving at each

:44:13.:44:16.

other, William Dunlop has cleared off and developed a nice big lead.

:44:17.:44:19.

That must be Josh Brookes, I think. off and developed a nice big lead.

:44:20.:44:26.

Yes, it must be. I saw him in one of those slow motion shots as if he was

:44:27.:44:29.

making a bit of time, and obviously, he was. Conor, can he do anything

:44:30.:44:36.

about William Dunlop? I am not sure. Dunlop really desperately wants to

:44:37.:44:40.

win his fourth Northwest 200, and desperately wants to win a big race.

:44:41.:44:46.

This is the race. That little moment has unsettled Hutchy. Maybe he has

:44:47.:44:49.

hurt his hand, hanging on with those injured fingers. William Dunlop has

:44:50.:44:54.

not broken away like I thought he would with them on the grass. I

:44:55.:44:57.

thought there would be a bigger gap, but only a couple of seconds.

:44:58.:45:04.

The 28-year-old elder brother, of course, the Dunlop dynasty. It is

:45:05.:45:10.

very much a dynasty here on the coast. Three seconds, as Conor

:45:11.:45:17.

Cummins get through, and probably a few seconds back to Hutchy. So,

:45:18.:45:22.

Cummins has recovered better, even though he stopped. I have just seen

:45:23.:45:27.

a BMW in the background, the factory BMW, and it is Michael Dunlop. He is

:45:28.:45:33.

on the back. There he is. Michael Dunlop riding up towards Michael

:45:34.:45:37.

Rutter. William Dunlop. Look at the concentration. Cranking that down

:45:38.:45:40.

through the gears. He thought that William... Guy Martin had their

:45:41.:45:50.

thoughts and eyes on TG, and would not necessarily be up for a win, but

:45:51.:45:52.

at the moment, it looks great for not necessarily be up for a win, but

:45:53.:45:56.

the number six. He slides and servers are now on the

:45:57.:46:03.

easy intricately dish and, I would hate to see what he does when it

:46:04.:46:06.

style, that is more like Michael Dunlop ayes riding style. We have

:46:07.:46:13.

seen throughout this week, practice, qualifying in everything,

:46:14.:46:16.

he has been more aggressive. He looked hungrier than ever before.

:46:17.:46:23.

Michael Dunlop using the BMW, but I would say that his BMW is closer to

:46:24.:46:29.

the factory spec machine. He has the ferocious mapping of his, whereas

:46:30.:46:30.

Michael Rutter's is just kind of ferocious mapping of his, whereas

:46:31.:46:41.

skilful and brave as easy them side-by-side. This track is not

:46:42.:46:45.

wide. I can promise you. But nicely done, Michael. He has just found a

:46:46.:46:51.

puddle. What you cannot tell is how hard Dunlop had to work not to bowl

:46:52.:46:55.

right over. That was a corner and 180 miles an hour.

:46:56.:46:58.

right over. That was a corner and has got his sights set on Hutchy. He

:46:59.:47:05.

gets to the next straight, possibly he will do something about it. If

:47:06.:47:07.

his hand is hurting, things like that will run down and along here,

:47:08.:47:14.

and the two chicanes will be an issue for him. At

:47:15.:47:17.

and the two chicanes will be an helicopter can keep up with the

:47:18.:47:22.

speeds. It is doing its very best, but not as fast as a BMW like this.

:47:23.:47:29.

This bike even into wind, is doing over 190 mph. Tricky conditions down

:47:30.:47:32.

here on the bikes, but also in the air for the helicopter. They are

:47:33.:47:35.

dealing with the wind and the rain just as much. James Hillier. He is

:47:36.:47:46.

the leader. Through this chicane. Here is Guy Martin. Oh, Josh

:47:47.:47:51.

Brookes! He is off! Home, he has hung on! What a save! Got the white

:47:52.:47:59.

line, it spun around, how on earth he hang onto that? That was better

:48:00.:48:03.

than Sammy Miller! That was incredible. He was at the bank, and

:48:04.:48:06.

halfway across to the hotel car park. That was not a good line. We

:48:07.:48:13.

saw another good line. Anyway, here we go. It looks like Michael Dunlop

:48:14.:48:18.

has just set the fastest lap of the race. Let's look at this again. On

:48:19.:48:22.

the white paint, spins up, and how did he do that? We are about eight

:48:23.:48:29.

or ten feet up. Back down the grass. A change of underwear, please, for

:48:30.:48:38.

Mr Brooke at ! I think Conor is about to get passed by Michael

:48:39.:48:41.

Dunlop. He looks a little bit uncomfortable. Understandably. So,

:48:42.:48:48.

how we got a brotherly love going on here? Have we got a Dunlop to Dunlop

:48:49.:48:54.

battled? Another Northern Ireland when coming up, it seems. We had a

:48:55.:48:58.

clutch of them on Thursday night. A Kiwi winning the opening race of the

:48:59.:49:04.

day, and now, we have got what looks like a Northern Ireland victory

:49:05.:49:07.

coming up, or maybe even a Dunlop victory. Perhaps a Dunlop double. It

:49:08.:49:13.

could quite easily be. Here is the advantage. He hears, Conor Cummins.

:49:14.:49:18.

So, Michael hasn't got through yet, but it looks like he will very

:49:19.:49:20.

shortly. There but it looks like he will very

:49:21.:49:24.

Rutter. Hutchy is fading, isn't it? Yes, he is not happy at all. Just

:49:25.:49:30.

reminding him how much his hand hurts already. Michael Rutter on his

:49:31.:49:40.

way. He says he goes better in rain than a lot of other people. It has

:49:41.:49:44.

been his writing style to start with, and that goes a long way.

:49:45.:49:48.

Still, both of those riders their happy dark visors. Hutchinson. Look

:49:49.:50:02.

at this. Did you see that face? Yes, it looked angry. It looked

:50:03.:50:07.

determined, from Michael Dunlop. Surely not here. Down into Europe.

:50:08.:50:12.

It is that aggression, isn't it? It is showing everywhere. White line,

:50:13.:50:17.

and he will cut back now to the inside. Probably got on the power

:50:18.:50:21.

little early to drive up the hill. And there we go. I think that is it.

:50:22.:50:27.

Second place now for Michael Dunlop. It is like frightening him out of

:50:28.:50:30.

that position by coming past. Whatever you think, I am going to

:50:31.:50:33.

pass you, so just get out of the way a naked easy for yourself. Conor

:50:34.:50:37.

could do with getting in the draft of that BMW now. Could drag him up

:50:38.:50:43.

towards the brother, William, but I don't know. It is a massive gap. I

:50:44.:50:47.

think we still talking three seconds. Conor Cummins hasn't given

:50:48.:50:50.

up. He knows he has slipstream on his side. Through station corner.

:50:51.:50:59.

Oh! So close to the curb. That is our camera gone. Watch this. Watch

:51:00.:51:07.

the eyes on the right-hand side. Conor glancing across, excuse me. He

:51:08.:51:11.

is just so focused on the bitter road in front of Conor Cummins.

:51:12.:51:16.

William is riding out of his skin. That gap has come down. I have seen

:51:17.:51:19.

about three and a half seconds, I reckon about to now. William

:51:20.:51:26.

Dunlop's pits will be saying plus two or plus three. It is horrible in

:51:27.:51:29.

these conditions when used need to buy Shard. -- push hard. The elder

:51:30.:51:36.

of the two Dunlop brothers must pull some thing out of the bag. That gap

:51:37.:51:40.

is visibly closer. William is the quiet one, but he is not riding like

:51:41.:51:45.

is visibly closer. William is the the quiet one today. Does he know he

:51:46.:51:48.

has his brother on his tail? Those piercing eyes again. Who are the

:51:49.:51:53.

crowd going to be waving for? I think either one would be a popular

:51:54.:51:57.

win. I don't think it would matter, as long as it is a Dunlop. William

:51:58.:52:03.

is due a big bike win. Michael has a whole collection of trophies.

:52:04.:52:06.

William is still looking for his first. At an international race

:52:07.:52:10.

meeting, this could be a big day for William Dunlop and Tigers Suzuki,

:52:11.:52:14.

but Michael Dunlop, if he can get that BMW working how he likes it, it

:52:15.:52:20.

will be difficult. We were all questioning whether the change from

:52:21.:52:23.

Honda, we thought that was the best package, would it work for a? The

:52:24.:52:30.

BMW takes some time. William has three wins, Michael has two at the

:52:31.:52:32.

moment. McGuinness is out. three wins, Michael has two at the

:52:33.:52:41.

one with an injured hand. Can you hear the bike wheel spinning? It

:52:42.:52:49.

sounds like a powerboat. It is nearly powerboat conditions!

:52:50.:52:51.

Triangle that time, the start of a dry line. That comes from the wind,

but also the hot tyres, which are probably 80 or 90 degrees even in

:52:58.:53:01.

hot conditions. That heat dries out the dry lined every time they go

:53:02.:53:08.

over the tarmac. It is not easy in the early laps, but it is definitely

:53:09.:53:12.

drier here. It was very wet here early on. The rain has stopped and

:53:13.:53:16.

the wind is blowing. Michael Dunlop is right on his brother's back

:53:17.:53:21.

wheel. William won't know that his pits will have told him that the gap

:53:22.:53:25.

was closing. A bit of a flame out there from William. It is still

:53:26.:53:30.

William who is skating the back end of the bikes, braking harder, and

:53:31.:53:35.

that like he is trying harder. He is riding his socks off. Michael, who

:53:36.:53:40.

is normally be slightly aggressive, slightly out of

:53:41.:53:40.

is normally be slightly aggressive, smoother of the two at the moment. I

:53:41.:53:45.

agree. William has a lovely gliding style. Goodspeed, good corners. Not

:53:46.:53:50.

so much in these conditions. I think the BMW will have a little more

:53:51.:53:55.

speed, top end, then I think the Suzuki at the moment. Here it is.

:53:56.:53:59.

That is that the slipstream. You can see that gap coming down, and in the

:54:00.:54:03.

braking zone now. Michael has a carrot in front of him, and that is

:54:04.:54:06.

his brother. We say the first person to beat is your team-mate, but in

:54:07.:54:11.

this case, it is his brother. Definitely. They are all good

:54:12.:54:14.

friends away from here, but on the racetrack, they are sworn enemies,

:54:15.:54:20.

they? So, no love lost out here. They run down towards the next

:54:21.:54:23.

chicane. Michael closing up. He is close enough coming out. He will do

:54:24.:54:30.

this, or will he? I don't know. He is close enough, but whether he can

:54:31.:54:34.

get on the brakes and on the inside, William is really good at getting

:54:35.:54:38.

this is a key. Sliding it in their nicely. That is the engine braking.

:54:39.:54:42.

Slithering it in their nicely. Great riding style. Looks like Marc

:54:43.:54:47.

Marquez. That is a superbike! He is sliding a Superbike at 100 zero

:54:48.:54:52.

miles an hour into a chicane in the wet! Look at the water that is

:54:53.:54:58.

there. You can see there is more. Michael has gone for it at the

:54:59.:54:59.

Metropole. He Michael has gone for it at the

:55:00.:55:01.

BMW stopping. He sliding everywhere. Does he let his

:55:02.:55:09.

brother back inside? No, he doesn't. He has it under control. The crowd

:55:10.:55:10.

going absolutely while. A pair of He has it under control. The crowd

:55:11.:55:16.

Dunlops battling for the win. This is for the victory. This is for the

:55:17.:55:20.

win. A bit of a slide there from Michael. We have got over Blackhill,

:55:21.:55:25.

win. A bit of a slide there from but we have also got

:55:26.:55:25.

win. A bit of a slide there from will all get sorted out. If he

:55:26.:55:31.

win. A bit of a slide there from that long! William Dunlop wants to

:55:32.:55:34.

challenge his brother Michael. He is determined to keep him behind him.

:55:35.:55:39.

Third, fourth, fifth, sixth gear along here, well into a

:55:40.:55:41.

slipstreaming situation. along here, well into a

:55:42.:55:44.

elder brother, William, squeeze down the inside? He had! He has! What

:55:45.:55:52.

will happen near? That was amazing. He has got through. Michael is

:55:53.:55:58.

having a look, but no, William leads as they climb the hill, Juniper

:55:59.:56:02.

Hill. One more corner to go. What can be done at the top? Michael

:56:03.:56:07.

Dunlop will not like that. Oh! He did that excellently, and shut the

:56:08.:56:11.

door on him as well. That was close. Close front wheel of Michael Dunlop.

:56:12.:56:15.

He takes the win, William Dunlop. William Dunlop takes the win on the

:56:16.:56:19.

superbike. I want to watch that entire lap in slow motion. That was

:56:20.:56:23.

astonishing from this pair. Another chapter in the Dunlop legend, here

:56:24.:56:27.

at the Northwest 200. A standing ovation from the crowd.

:56:28.:56:31.

William Dunlop and Michael Dunlop with half a second in it, Conor

:56:32.:56:35.

Cummins a great third place. Hutchinson, and Andrews make make-up

:56:36.:56:41.

the top five. What a top performance. What a last

:56:42.:56:44.

lap, and a sensational Superbike win. I know, I can't believe it. I

:56:45.:56:51.

sort of struggle towards the end of the race. Have you given your

:56:52.:56:55.

brother a shake of the hand yet you macro? Come on, Michael.

:56:56.:57:04.

Congratulations, well done. You just have a smile on your face, but do

:57:05.:57:10.

you want to have a word with him? I expected more from him, that more

:57:11.:57:17.

respect. It was nothing too much, but I just lost the front, and in

:57:18.:57:20.

that like we were both taking it over. But it was good. I just had to

:57:21.:57:26.

work too much for a couple of laps, so it is just the way it goes.

:57:27.:57:31.

As we say, no love lost there. They will get over it, but at the moment,

:57:32.:57:35.

they are not really talking to each other on the podium. Fantastic to

:57:36.:57:40.

see a Dunlop 1-2 on the podium. My goodness, no love lost between the

:57:41.:57:43.

brothers there. Director yes, that was a tough race. This is a

:57:44.:57:47.

Superbike race, and everyone wants to win it. Michael is pretty

:57:48.:57:50.

determined to win for his new sponsors, BMW, and Williams is just

:57:51.:57:55.

determined to do a good job for his Suzuki team that he has been where.

:57:56.:58:01.

It was just superb race. To Dunlop 's in the Northwest 200 stand, it

:58:02.:58:04.

has just been too long. I remember years ago when I raced against his

:58:05.:58:10.

father. Those were the days. The boys are just repeating that. Thank

:58:11.:58:13.

you very much. A reminder, you can see this programme again on the

:58:14.:58:18.

iPlayer with loads more great action for you tomorrow night on BBC One at

:58:19.:58:22.

1030 5pm. As well as the racing, we have lots

:58:23.:58:26.

of fun stuff for the riders today. We have been clay pigeon shooting,

:58:27.:58:30.

Godfrey spot of fishing, and I am not quite sure what Steve Parish has

:58:31.:58:33.

been doing with Alastair Seeley. For now, and everyone here in the north

:58:34.:58:35.

coast, goodbye.
