World Mixed Pairs Final Bowls World Indoor Championships

Monday was the first televised day of the 2012 World Championship at

Potters, but if fans were expecting a leisurely day of entertainment

what they got was drama more befitting the big screen.

The morning session saw tales of the unexpected as the leading man

Paul Foster was dethroned by the kid. The talented Welsh youngster

Rosso and was now starring in his own epic adventure. The mat and a

performance showed the Lord of the blue rink as the set-aside their

unexpected singles disaster to maintain the world pairs crown.

Then finely last night, it was back to the future as former world

champion David Gourlay became the first player into the quarter-

finals, a major boost for the Glasgow man who also appears in

today's mixed pairs final. Welcome to Potters. We are all

wondering what does this venue have in store for us today after the

drama of yesterday? There is another trophy up for grabs in the

final of the mixed pairs. Last year's mixed pairs final was an

effort -- epic event with Simon Skelton and Alison Merrien pipping

in a tie-break with Skelton producing one of the moments of the

tournament. Simon Skelton with one bowl to win the mixed pairs mixed

play championship. He is so close, That is what it means to him.

2012 will see new champions crowned. Paul Foster is a herd by Kerry

Packwood. Foster has already tasted success in 2012 championships,

retaining the pairs title with Alex Marshall. Can the World Number One

and the young Welsh international find a similar form for their

success? Their opponents are David Gourlay and Debbie Stavrou. They

knocked out the reigning champions in their semi-final in a tense and

close encounter so new winners are bound to be crowned in one of the

most popular events at the final events.

David Gourlay is the only one of the quartet to have appeared in the

final mixed pairs before in fact he has won it twice. Paul Foster is a

bid to become the first player since Tony Allcock in 2003 to win

both pairs titles in these World Championships. David Corkill and
