World Singles Final Bowls World Indoor Championships

Hello and welcome to a packed Potters. The BBC cameras have been

here for the past week for the Bellis bowls tournament anywhere in

the world and it has been quite brilliant. -- the biggest bowls

So there is just one more trophy to be decided at these will balk

indoor championships and after 13 matches featuring the best 32 in

the world, we have just two men are It is Heinen and a shoot-out for

the biggest bounty even World Bowls. It may not be the showdown that

many predicted but I for one cannot wait to see it. It is Andy Thomson

against Jason Greenslade, for the world indoor title. Which of these

two has the true grit needed to World number 13, Jason Greenslade

has fought his way to a first appearance in the singles final. He

not at world number four Mark Royal and qualifier Wayne Hogg on which

to his first Potters final. He was then a convincing win in the

semifinal, beating David Gourlay in straight sets with a dominating

performance. The final will be a great game. I have faced Andy at

least four times and every game has been a classic. Andy Thomson is a

legend and he is a good friend of mine. He has won every single title

and to play him in the final is a massive honour. I would say I would

like to go one step further in 2012 and take the title. Hall of Fame

Award Andy Thomson was a world champion in 1994 and 1995. He is a

father figure in the sport and one of the most decorated players,. He

accounted for world number three Darren Burnett in the semifinal

with a sudden death tie-break win. It is every bowl's dream. To be

there at my age now is fantastic. Jason has been playing really well.

He has changed his style of play. All of a sudden he has come to this

tournament with beget swinging bowls. I have played well. I am

confident, but it will be a tough game. Thomson versus Greenslade.

depth in the game. Lots of players, some of them don't even making to

this stage who are very good players. On any given day anyone

can beat anybody. I think that is good for the sport. Depth of

and a live television audience. So many great players don't like that.

Would you agree? I would. It is very intimidating to play under

television lights and cameras. It doesn't suit everyone. We have seen

people crash and go out of events where they were terrific players,

but when they get to the absolute elite, they just can't make it.

Close, Andy! And it is staying up as well. He is beating Jason to the

punch, isn't he? I think Jason needs to change his game plan. I do

feel he is going to have to attack this game. Yes, once again Andy on

a nice high line. His control is very good. Finding another

brilliant bowl, he has done this all week. He has a good form and a

good feel for the carpet. He knows little bit disappointed because it

looked like the bowls were going out clean without the jack. That

would have left him with two shots. As it is, it will go on the respot.

It will be a single to red it but some distance away. It was not a

bad result. He has cleared the bowl. I would not back against him

have a go at it. It is not a big target, of course. One bowl target.

It is possible he could chip it hold just a little bit longer. Just

three bowls on the backhand side and will need an adjustment on

delivery. It was not a clean delivery. Just pulled it across his

body. Like you said, it is not easy, not sure it will get back in time.

It is coming back now, but the extra weight is just holding it off.

Just feel that he needed that one. Not the end of the world. One shot,

whole of the championship, and it Thomson just in front and yet the

average score for Jason is just above it. So whenever he has been

winning ends, he has been winning them in multiples. But it has been

singles all the way in this second set. MARKER: Jack length 24.5

A wide-open competition open to everyone. It is a particularly easy

way in, but certainly a way to test yourself against really good

players around the world and a chance to have a go at some of the

best in the world if you qualify. Jason trying to encourage this one

think he would do it in the forehand? I would say he will play

trouble with that is he does not want to get a slice of the jack in

is such a hard shot to play. It is a big turnover for Andy. Wait till

you see the reaction. There it goes, each yes, and again. He really

knows he is on fire in this final. He is pumped, pumped up. It is so

rare that a player comes into the final and plays out of his skin and

that is exactly what Andy Thomson is doing. Jason paid the penalty

for a loose last delivery there. You would expect him to be close on

the backhand draw. Run-through by five feet and left Andy the chance.

And it was a good chance because the green into the jack was good.

I can see why. He has overplayed it and he is in trouble. He is in a

men's singles champion, Andy Thomson. The ladies' world much

went to Karen Murphy. Karen was runner-up here last year. Paul

I have been joined by David Corkill and Greg Harlow. Greg, your

reaction to an incredible reaction to an incredible

performance from a man who is 56. Absolutely, aged a part, I think

and -- Andy's performance was not only the best of the championship,

but the best I have seen in the final. He was that hot. What did

you make of Jason? Unfortunately he could not get going. It is that gap

just after practice and before the final and sometimes players can

crash. Unfortunately he did not get going until the second set. At that

stage, Andy was in such a row with them that he was playing a

fantastic recovery. That is the best I have seen Andy play. Let's

take a look at Andy's action today. Andy played three or four shots

that could have been the top of the tournament. This is so difficult to

drop around the whole pack in one shot. I think he scored two each at

the time so it was critical. And the time so it was critical. And

then this again, even better still. Arthur forehand, gets a little bit

of turn, absolutely perfect. What did you rank of this performance

did you rank of this performance today? I would agree that it is

great. This pressure me when you have just got over the line in your

previous matches which is what happened to Andy, last end of the

tie-break, the same in the first round and he has kept that for all

the way through. Other players have been up-and-down, but Andy has been

consistent. I think his appetite is the key. We tease him about his age,

but he is a fit guy an appetite is fantastic.

How hard is it to keep appetite? can be difficult because you can

have such a long career, but to be fair, if you can't kid yourself up

for the World Championship, you can't play anywhere. Andy always

brings his best performance and today was phenomenal.

Overall, what we have seen here, we were looking for young players to

come through, we have seen one of the experience once come through.

Where does the Games than? I think it is healthy. What we are saying

is that although Andy did when, they are still being challenged by

young players in the qualifiers and that is important the turnaround.
