Welcome to pilots from the 2014 World Indoor Bowls Championships.

:00:37.:00:45.

First, the trophy on the line as Paul Foster and Alex Marshall go for

:00:46.:00:46.

the fourth successive win. Paul Foster, Alex Marshall! This is

:00:47.:01:12.

very pleasing, especially to defend it.

:01:13.:01:24.

We're both relax now and are enjoying our bowls even better. We

:01:25.:01:36.

were dominating purely because we are of the formidable pair. Standing

:01:37.:01:48.

in the way was the English pair, Greg Harlow and Nicky Brett. They

:01:49.:02:00.

want the first set. -- they won the first set.

:02:01.:02:44.

Very close bowl. Can you go. Keep swinging. Well played, Paul. Come

:02:45.:02:53.

down. Interesting line. Come on, Nick.

:02:54.:03:03.

Just one run, Nick. Good boy. Keep swinging. Down here. In the

:03:04.:03:18.

area. One red. The better head here for great. A

:03:19.:03:48.

shot against him. Doesn't have the running? A couple

:03:49.:04:35.

of feet. That was all. Try and get as close as you can. It is dangerous

:04:36.:04:43.

leaving it as it is. They could give a shot away here and still be better

:04:44.:04:48.

off in some respects. Yes, it is an awkward one. I would agree. They

:04:49.:04:53.

will probably try and put another bowl and here. Hopefully he doesn't

:04:54.:05:00.

move it. Even if he does, it is better losing one in three or four.

:05:01.:05:07.

They will be dropping short. At this will drop short, I would be

:05:08.:05:09.

surprised. That is what has happened. Too frightened to go near

:05:10.:05:12.

it. Can't blame him. Alex thinks it has finished in a

:05:13.:05:34.

good place. I don't think it has. There is plenty of room around the

:05:35.:05:38.

bowl. If it can get in there and move that bowl, what you were

:05:39.:05:42.

talking about is bringing up through here. If the jack moves across into

:05:43.:05:46.

this area with the bowl dropping, we have four shots will stop not only

:05:47.:05:51.

that, the short bowl is hampering him. Exactly. They think it is just

:05:52.:05:57.

a reach. Maybe he is looking at a drive. He is looking at the corner

:05:58.:06:02.

of the bowl. On the forehand. I wouldn't play that. Greg Harlow is

:06:03.:06:12.

close to that. I wouldn't have any more than that.

:06:13.:06:16.

You know that Nick is an attacking player. Greg has to think, I'm here

:06:17.:06:26.

to play my own shot, he is. I think you will play this one at one foot

:06:27.:06:34.

away. He is looking at it. A good angle. It is not too heavy. It is

:06:35.:06:42.

too heavy. It won't get back. It was just over the draw. Just too strong.

:06:43.:06:50.

I'm surprised Alex is going down to play this. He is going down to play

:06:51.:06:55.

his fall because it is nowhere near it.

:06:56.:07:16.

He is on the line to draw. What are you doing? Surely, he can't... That

:07:17.:07:28.

was courageous. Berry. -- Very. He is just over. About 1.5 feet,

:07:29.:08:13.

mate. There is still room here for Paul.

:08:14.:08:56.

16 inch short, your last one. They won't want to get caught on that but

:08:57.:09:00.

he is not prepared to move on to the forehand. 16 inches. He will feel as

:09:01.:09:05.

though his bowl will come around and draw the short. Drop, drop.

:09:06.:09:17.

That has a shoulder for Greg to rest on. He has given us a good look.

:09:18.:10:05.

Keep running. Keep running. Yes! Another day. It falls away. They are

:10:06.:10:13.

finding the centre in space was to upgrade will -- centre in space.

:10:14.:10:20.

Greg will be happy. He is close. Down. He got the full

:10:21.:10:31.

in that hand, surely. Paul thinks it is against. That is

:10:32.:10:57.

one marker. Definitely favours green, so do we. Very close, just

:10:58.:11:08.

slightly. I think it is green. The ring is a very accurate. The camera

:11:09.:11:15.

is right over the top of the head. It is all down to the expertise at

:11:16.:11:17.

the end of the day. Here We Go, slightly favouring the

:11:18.:11:32.

green. The backend is slightly bought out.

:11:33.:11:48.

It is an awkward one. I don't know where the best place to put this one

:11:49.:11:54.

is. Maybe on the forehand, yet near the red one. It is very difficult.

:11:55.:12:15.

He is having a really good go at this. No! He falls back on the red.

:12:16.:12:27.

That is so unlucky. If it was closed... It certainly isn't, that

:12:28.:12:31.

was so unlucky from Greg. It has to be red now. Yes, a massive

:12:32.:12:39.

difference. In one of the red. One red.

:12:40.:12:49.

Alex Glenn with confidence. -- Alex can play with confidence.

:12:50.:13:04.

I think it is just the case for taking the one, Alex. Two to go. Two

:13:05.:13:11.

up. No high drift. I am going to predict Alex to be

:13:12.:13:39.

shot. I don't think he should go near this. One shot is quite good

:13:40.:13:46.

here. It is all about your own confidence.

:13:47.:14:10.

That was one that wasn't really worth bothering with. You will see

:14:11.:14:18.

that. Greg may question whether he should have gone near that. When you

:14:19.:14:24.

give a shot away in a situation like that is act ever easy? It could be

:14:25.:14:30.

quite crucial. The run for home in the last two

:14:31.:15:17.

ends. Scotland is looking for the three and tie-break. England is

:15:18.:15:19.

looking to win. Good match. I have enjoyed this one.

:15:20.:15:26.

Yes, yes. This is all about pace from Paul

:15:27.:16:04.

this time. The big swinging bowl. Drop back. Very close.

:16:05.:16:13.

Alex and Greg have been playing. Maybe they could fit one of their

:16:14.:16:21.

4-ball inside that. I would agree. This is why a don't think the short

:16:22.:16:25.

bowl will be the short bowl. Unlucky. Very unlucky. The other

:16:26.:16:29.

side was perfect. He is coming down to have a look. I

:16:30.:16:47.

can understand what he was thinking. That is a shot that rate will be

:16:48.:16:49.

playing. I reckon I am faster than you.

:16:50.:17:03.

This time it is Greg's turn on the green.

:17:04.:17:26.

That arrived quickly. That is what Greg will be looking for. Give it a

:17:27.:17:34.

chance, mate. It helps others if you lift it wants. Harsh! That is hard.

:17:35.:17:43.

You are asking for absolute perfection.

:17:44.:17:59.

He is very close! Will he left at? OES. That was wonderful. -- Will he

:18:00.:18:15.

lift it? Oh, yes. That is absolutely cracking. That

:18:16.:18:31.

was the difference of Alex Marshall not getting an. -- getting in. Alex

:18:32.:18:44.

is on the backend now. I don't think Alex and Paul will be very

:18:45.:18:52.

disappointed. Two said massive difference.

:18:53.:18:58.

They still have to win the last ten. The jack is available on the backend

:18:59.:19:11.

he gets straight. He could pick up three or four shots.

:19:12.:19:24.

Not too bad at all. That is very close. Under the line.

:19:25.:19:32.

A thinking has to be careful. Editors to it is almost better

:19:33.:19:37.

rocking away from it. You can drop his own bowl away.

:19:38.:19:42.

If they favoured two, they could defend. Yes, two shots. That is a

:19:43.:19:55.

lot different. Yes, I think that is what he is talking about. Let it be.

:19:56.:20:14.

I think it would be better taking the two and leaving it. That bowl is

:20:15.:20:21.

sitting on its age. I think most of the players ever

:20:22.:20:47.

two. -- favour. That is not getting through. I am

:20:48.:21:16.

going to put two down on my card. I agree.

:21:17.:21:47.

A little question here for the English pair. They could afford to

:21:48.:21:49.

lose one but not to. -- not two. Paul and Alex Marshall are defending

:21:50.:22:09.

champions. They have been playing red or blue through the event.

:22:10.:22:35.

Reasonably happy with that. Both of these passive managed to stay using

:22:36.:22:50.

the same coloured bowls or later the pairs.

:22:51.:22:55.

Good start, good start. I think Alex is happy with the bowl behind the

:22:56.:23:03.

jack. They were deliberately making sure

:23:04.:23:13.

that it was behind this one. They are slightly up. It won't be lost.

:23:14.:23:19.

That one is better that. That is OK.

:23:20.:23:21.

Always better than being in front of it. Draw the shot. Get the bonus,

:23:22.:23:31.

just a draw. He is very close. He has got this

:23:32.:23:43.

perfectly. He makes two out of it. Two red. This is a simple backhand

:23:44.:24:10.

draw. It has to be backend. Very pensive. A large crowd have really

:24:11.:24:17.

enjoyed this. It has been a wonderful game. Not always the

:24:18.:24:20.

bowling, just attention. He is definitely one of the best

:24:21.:24:30.

players on the rack. Can he draw to win the game?

:24:31.:24:37.

He is on a white line. I think it is too heavy. That looks quick. There

:24:38.:24:47.

is no way it will be getting back. Can't blame him. Yes, you can't

:24:48.:24:52.

blame him for reaching. You won't get anything if you are short. .

:24:53.:25:04.

What does he do? He wants a close one. He wants to put the pressure on

:25:05.:25:08.

Greg. Both bowls are about nine inches

:25:09.:25:14.

away. Greg doesn't really want to change

:25:15.:25:38.

the line much. We still have two thirds if you wanted to arrive at

:25:39.:25:52.

Pier. Nicky! No! He likes putting the bowl down. I would be telling

:25:53.:25:55.

him, draw the shot in the background. He takes one bowl out at

:25:56.:26:03.

a time then you have to draw the shot. Yes, it draw the shot. The

:26:04.:26:12.

fingers, F Greg pops one in that it will be hidden, out of the way. It

:26:13.:26:18.

will be almost impossible for Alex. I think that is what it is saying.

:26:19.:26:24.

There is too much space. Yes, that is why I think it should be the

:26:25.:26:32.

backhand draw. Nicky lost the run out it is has to be a draw.

:26:33.:26:37.

We will be looking at him coming into this position. What he is

:26:38.:26:41.

looking at is coming down in the forehand, either bowl right there or

:26:42.:26:48.

their small... That space is too big.

:26:49.:26:52.

Exactly. 18 inches in front. He could drop on the forehand. The

:26:53.:27:19.

jacket is off centre which helps a bit. I don't think you likes the

:27:20.:27:28.

forehand down here. Sometimes you have to say to your partner, I

:27:29.:27:34.

really fancy playing this. He is so undecided. It is not a good sign. He

:27:35.:27:38.

is really taking his time over this one.

:27:39.:27:52.

You have to give him 100% on the back when you decide what you want

:27:53.:27:56.

to. You can't keep the? In the mind. He has been the run. Alex Marrow. --

:27:57.:28:30.

Bend the narrow. 18 inches, two feet. That is too far. Evatt had is

:28:31.:28:43.

then a definite streak against them... I still don't think that was

:28:44.:28:50.

the right shot. They did the best they could with it.

:28:51.:28:56.

There is pressure on Alex here. There is a lot of pressure. It is

:28:57.:29:10.

still tough. He is telling him to take his time. Iraqi people you

:29:11.:29:17.

would want on the mat and Alex Marshall. -- on the mat then Alex

:29:18.:29:26.

Marshall. Often running to stay in the

:29:27.:29:38.

championship. He is on a high line. This needs to steady. It looks good.

:29:39.:29:51.

It didn't drop! It didn't make it back.

:29:52.:30:08.

What a dramatic finish, that was. Receiving the goblet, a cheque, and

:30:09.:30:23.

the title of the 2014 World Indoor Bowls Championships, Greg Harlow and

:30:24.:30:27.

Nick Brett. They've finally gone and done it -

:30:28.:30:57.

one more time, the 2014 just retirement world indoors pairs

:30:58.:31:03.

champion, Greg Harlow and Nick Brett.

:31:04.:31:19.

So a great day for Nicky Brett and Harlow. It is their names on this

:31:20.:31:28.

year's men's pairs trophy. Now it's time to switch our attention to the

:31:29.:31:32.

men's singles and Stuart Anderson's attempt to become the fifth man in

:31:33.:31:38.

the last 35 years to successfully defend his crown.

:31:39.:32:19.

Well, the defending champion took the game against Josh Grant and

:32:20.:32:30.

we'll join him in the second end of second set. The 19-year-old leads

:32:31.:32:37.

2-0. Now it's John Price alongside Corky.

:32:38.:33:06.

Starting to go with the first delivery.

:33:07.:33:17.

Very good ball there for Stuart Anderson.

:33:18.:33:44.

Provisionally equal with Jason Gleanslade. And this will bolster

:33:45.:33:51.

the rankings here at the moment. One behind!

:33:52.:33:53.

Yes, it's all very congested in the middle part. Nice to be fighting for

:33:54.:34:01.

the Champions League spots rather than fighting off the relegation.

:34:02.:34:06.

I've been there a few times in recent years! Could be there with

:34:07.:34:10.

Swansea the way that things are going as well. And Stuart is looking

:34:11.:34:15.

to improve his ranking position. Two great balls again there. This looks

:34:16.:34:18.

like it will be a little bit of weight from Josh. He's been very

:34:19.:34:21.

good with the weight shot. In the area there with that side

:34:22.:34:44.

green, gets it. Good run through. Well played. That was the perfect

:34:45.:34:47.

way to play it in many ways. You've got to get in off the ball and on to

:34:48.:34:52.

the red and stun the weight off and carry through. Played well! Yeah, a

:34:53.:34:56.

good shot! Stuart has to do it again. These

:34:57.:35:11.

aring looking good, though. Looking very good indeed.

:35:12.:35:15.

It's a bit of a choice here. Does he draw? Try to keep it tight? So if he

:35:16.:35:26.

loses anything, he only loses a single. Does he go again? Took the

:35:27.:35:33.

ball out and leave it to Stuart to have to draw the shot. I think he

:35:34.:35:38.

may be tempted to go aagain -- again. Yes, it's a non-toucher here

:35:39.:35:42.

to get in to the jack, it's not a problem. If he gets in to the rank

:35:43.:35:48.

there. No, that's conservative drawn ball on the wide line. Not easy

:35:49.:35:52.

after playing weeth. You're more likely to be able to run through

:35:53.:35:55.

heavy. The running ball and then getting

:35:56.:36:06.

back down again to dead weight. It's difficult at the best of times,

:36:07.:36:10.

John, but in the portable rink, you really need a lot of experience to

:36:11.:36:16.

play that sort of shot. Yeah, and you'd think that Stuart would

:36:17.:36:19.

probably get in with this one. He's got the line and weight and I would

:36:20.:36:23.

expect him to draw another. It's not the end of the world for Josh. It's

:36:24.:36:26.

only the second end. No mistake. Two beauties from Stuart

:36:27.:36:35.

Anderson. That was a good end for Stuart, he

:36:36.:36:46.

played two good first balls and two really good second balls. You could

:36:47.:36:50.

almost see two sections off singles play. The first section with the

:36:51.:36:56.

first two and then the second section and he played a really good

:36:57.:36:59.

end. A cracking line dead-centre of the

:37:00.:37:56.

ring. So, if he thought that that one was

:37:57.:38:29.

absolutely the same as the previous delivery. But it doesn't always work

:38:30.:38:31.

out that way. This is good. Really good

:38:32.:38:38.

correction. That's a good ball. It looks like a lovely line for

:38:39.:39:08.

Stuart Anderson. Has he got the weight this time? Oh, not quite.

:39:09.:39:11.

Good grouping, though. Good bowling. I like the way Stuart Anderson play

:39:12.:39:33.

the game. I thought that the first tile that he arrived at the

:39:34.:39:36.

championships. He doesn't go for the big drive. He's conservative and he

:39:37.:39:41.

draws well. He thinks about the game.

:39:42.:39:45.

That is close again. It's a very good goal. It's a good end. Really

:39:46.:39:55.

good bowl. That's a beauty. I quite like the look of this lad as well.

:39:56.:39:59.

He's playing well. First time in the rink and he's giving a good account

:40:00.:40:04.

of himself. A few more goes like this and it will raise an eyebrow.

:40:05.:40:10.

Doesn't look too ruffled, does he? Oh, he's trying with this. He's

:40:11.:40:33.

trying to get on to the jack past his own. Oh, what a ball! Goodness

:40:34.:40:42.

me. Josh looking to score a potential two shots in this end and

:40:43.:40:45.

suddenly sees it taken away from him. What a bowl by Stuart Anderson.

:40:46.:40:49.

There's not a lot that you can do about that one. If someone plays a

:40:50.:40:55.

bowl as good as that. Just say, "Well done." Check his pulse!

:40:56.:41:16.

Good frt. Had to be there. Had to give it a chance.

:41:17.:41:26.

I'm not sure that Anderson isn't getting it all his own way in the

:41:27.:41:30.

second set. That's what we expect from Stuart

:41:31.:42:31.

Anderson. Josh, you just get another one close again, and build up the

:42:32.:42:35.

head like the last one and opportunities are abound for both

:42:36.:42:42.

players. That's good zuf. It's a very good reply. Good and quality

:42:43.:42:47.

game at the moment. Not so good close bowls being played. And good

:42:48.:42:50.

with the running ball. Yes, absolutely. It's good bowling.

:42:51.:43:00.

He had a good line. I think that he thought he was closer than that.

:43:01.:43:16.

Very good line in. It just didn't run.

:43:17.:43:31.

The same problem for Josh. He would really be playing the same ball

:43:32.:43:36.

rather than try to adjust anything. The balls looked good. UMPIRE: Two

:43:37.:44:24.

inches past jack height here. Nothing easy about this one. The lie

:44:25.:44:29.

of the ball has now gone to the backhand side. He's not happy. He

:44:30.:44:35.

didn't push it through. I think that the line was pretty good there, he

:44:36.:44:39.

just didn't lay in to it. You could see from the follow-through in the

:44:40.:44:42.

action that he hadn't pushed it. He's very close again. Wants to just

:44:43.:45:04.

miss the jack and get the green one. Well, it may not be in but it's a

:45:05.:45:08.

very good ball. A decent line. Now, then, what's the

:45:09.:45:28.

weight like? Decent line if he runs, Dave. He's got to run on that line.

:45:29.:45:35.

Yes, this is just the weight. Big effort.

:45:36.:45:51.

Well, Stuart Anderson kept up the momentum and went on to take the

:45:52.:45:57.

second set to book his place in the last 16. But Josh Grant will take

:45:58.:46:01.

plenty away from the first experience of the big time. So, who

:46:02.:46:04.

will play Stuart Anderson in the next round? That's a match between

:46:05.:46:08.

Michael Stephanie up against the man who is the former World Champion and

:46:09.:46:14.

current Commonwealth champion, Rob Wheel.

:46:15.:46:18.

Has he got the edge? The edge? Oh, he has. Oh, he got them all!

:46:19.:46:32.

Precision, drive! Got a chance, he's got it. Oh, great ball, Robert. If

:46:33.:46:37.

he pushes the red ball out, it's Wheel. That's the one. Meet the new

:46:38.:46:43.

World Champion. Very close to it. Edge. Oh, what a perfect ball that

:46:44.:46:46.

was. Rob Wheel took the first set before

:46:47.:47:01.

Stepney fought back to take the second. All credit to Michael

:47:02.:47:08.

Stepney. He came back strong and won it 8-3 and now it's all to play for

:47:09.:47:12.

in the 3-end tie-break. In tie-break situations, it only

:47:13.:47:30.

takes one good one and one lucky one to win it for you, Dave. The way

:47:31.:47:34.

that tie-breaks work. It's not accumulated shots like in the

:47:35.:47:37.

previous two sets. You just have to win the end. So the rules are

:47:38.:47:49.

slightly different. Not a bad bowl, but not close enough.

:47:50.:48:13.

Well, Michael Stepney has really worked his way in to this match. He

:48:14.:48:21.

was blown away really in the first set. Robert Weale was very

:48:22.:48:28.

consistent. He's come back strong. Still not operating with his first

:48:29.:48:32.

bowl, but the recovery bowls have been good. He's been particularly

:48:33.:48:36.

good with the third bowl in the back end of that second set. That was a

:48:37.:48:41.

good second ball then. Robert needs to react to this.

:48:42.:48:50.

Tighter line by Robert. -- Robert. It's in the area.

:48:51.:48:57.

Oh, he's got to get something with this. But how far is he going to go?

:48:58.:49:07.

Portable rink. The jack moves quite a lot. On nom normal club carpets,

:49:08.:49:15.

the jack almost attaches itself to the bowl. But not here. Goes on to

:49:16.:49:24.

the forehand side for a good bowl to go around and around the bowl. He's

:49:25.:49:31.

high and he's wide. It's still useful, though. Three red, you only

:49:32.:49:37.

need one. So, what does Robert do, John? Does he go deep or go in to

:49:38.:49:42.

the spot? I would probably go to the re-spot position on the forehand

:49:43.:49:45.

side. So where the last bowl is there in the area. Or go past the

:49:46.:49:52.

re-spot and cover the green bowl. I think that Michael will probably run

:49:53.:49:56.

at this and gamble if Robert doesn't get a bowl in the back position.

:49:57.:50:00.

He's slow on the mat, Robert, and the time clock is coming down.

:50:01.:50:04.

Plenty of time - two seconds! Not even close! Wow! I tell you what, if

:50:05.:50:10.

the hooter goes off, he'll certainly hear it. That's a good bowl. It's on

:50:11.:50:17.

the green. Well, he's covered almost everything now. He's got the re-spot

:50:18.:50:21.

covered. He maybe could have done with a little bit more on that to

:50:22.:50:27.

have the best back. But the big question being asked here now. The

:50:28.:50:31.

thing is - is there still enough room to draw the shot? There is.

:50:32.:50:42.

UMPIRE: Time out called. Two time outs remaining. If he hits the

:50:43.:50:52.

percentages with Robert, got three bowls in the end and a good cover

:50:53.:50:56.

bowl. But it's still open for the bowl there. Good weighted bowl

:50:57.:51:00.

there. Either that or play the percentages on to the jack and try

:51:01.:51:04.

to run it all the way through if he can. Got to be a little bit lucky on

:51:05.:51:09.

the bounce to get that, though. That's what he's looking for. Oh,

:51:10.:51:14.

he's in the area. Depends where it goes now. It didn't go right because

:51:15.:51:19.

the jack is now off the confines of the rink. It will go on to the

:51:20.:51:24.

re-spot position. We'll see that. There it is. And it's the first end

:51:25.:51:27.

to Robert Weale. Using the mat on the backhand, the

:51:28.:51:34.

shorter jack length will allow the bowl to pull back in to the centre

:51:35.:51:36.

of the rink. Here it comes. On the late draw. All

:51:37.:51:50.

the way back in again. That's a very good opening by Robert. That's what

:51:51.:51:54.

you're looking for, isn't it? That's really good. . Michael might be

:51:55.:51:57.

tempted to go early at this. I think if I was Michael, I would be

:51:58.:52:46.

starting to go for that one? He has to really get in to it quickly. Yes.

:52:47.:52:53.

He's in the area by the looks of it. Just on the edge there. He was

:52:54.:52:56.

having a good look at that on the way down, but that just holds off.

:52:57.:53:01.

Yeah, just brought it a little wide. A lot of weight on that and never

:53:02.:53:07.

looked like getting down. I can't see Robert going close with this.

:53:08.:53:14.

The re-spot position. Stay wide on the line in this situation and you

:53:15.:53:18.

definitely don't need another one close, unless he's going to block

:53:19.:53:21.

it. Oh, he's going for the block. He's got the re-spot position

:53:22.:53:25.

covered, probably. Oh, that's good. That's a really good blocker. I have

:53:26.:53:30.

to say! Maybe he would have liked it to be a little bit shorter. Still

:53:31.:53:36.

did well to find the centre there. It was a good bowl. It's always a

:53:37.:53:40.

gamble when you play a bowl like that. You could send up not making

:53:41.:53:43.

the centre line and you could give the guy a target. Yeah, well,

:53:44.:53:48.

looking at the re-spots there, you've got one there and you've got

:53:49.:53:52.

one there. I think that he's got a time out. Really, I think that he's

:53:53.:53:57.

needing to be crunching the jack in this sort of area to try to spring

:53:58.:54:01.

it out to this. You know, if he gets it absolutely right, it will go in

:54:02.:54:04.

to there and that brings the other bowl in to play at the bottom. There

:54:05.:54:12.

you go. So that's the way to do it. Got all of the options covered

:54:13.:54:18.

there, Dave. I bet he's trying it, though. And he is.

:54:19.:54:22.

Looking for the crunch bowl on the jack. Just missed it!

:54:23.:54:47.

I would go a little bit deeper than the green bowl there. I would too.

:54:48.:54:52.

He's got everything covered. Anything at the back of the rink.

:54:53.:54:59.

Maybe three or four feet behind the green bowl would be good.

:55:00.:55:08.

Where are you going with this? Just past it. Owe's OK. That's pretty

:55:09.:55:16.

good, actually. Well, he had that covered, really, to be truthful.

:55:17.:55:24.

It's a bowl to save the match for Mike Stepney.

:55:25.:55:44.

You know, that's really where he needs to be, John. But again, if

:55:45.:55:51.

he's fortunate in that sort of area, if a bowl goes with it, you know,

:55:52.:55:55.

he's coming in here. He's trying to bring the jack through. If he comes

:55:56.:56:00.

with the jack in to that sort of area, he could stop on it. It's a

:56:01.:56:03.

solid connection he needs, really. He's got to get the jack solid and

:56:04.:56:07.

hope that the bowls flies through with it. He's going on the forehand

:56:08.:56:11.

side and he's going to play a different shot. Oh, this is stuff if

:56:12.:56:15.

he's playing this shot. This is a really hard shot to play. Trying to

:56:16.:56:19.

rest the bowl off with maybe a yard of weight on that forehand. Well, if

:56:20.:56:22.

he gets this, it's going to be a fantastic bowl. No, never going to

:56:23.:56:27.

get back there. That was never really on for me. Good effort,

:56:28.:56:32.

though, by Mike Stepney, I have to say. Fought back very, very well in

:56:33.:56:37.

this match. Took it really back in to Robert Weale, but it's Robert

:56:38.:56:42.

Weale, number 16 in the world, who gets through the first round match.

:56:43.:56:46.

A match that he had to win against the Scott, Mike Stepney.

:56:47.:56:53.

So, the last 16 line-up is complete. Stewart Anderson will play Rob Weale

:56:54.:57:00.

and Greg Harlow up against Darren Burnett.

:57:01.:57:14.

Eight former champions still feature in our draw for the men's singles,

:57:15.:57:20.

so the quality is all there. A reminder of what's still to come on

:57:21.:57:25.

the BBC. We're on the red button at ten am. We're on BBC Two at one pm

:57:26.:57:32.

for the final for the mixed pairs. That brings to a close the coverage

:57:33.:57:36.

of day one of the World Championships at Potter's. There's

:57:37.:57:43.

lots more still to come from the biggest names in bowls.
