-Two years into the system,

-I was amazed at the standard.

-They can do more tricks than me

-at nine or ten years old.

-They play in a games programme set

-up by the Premier League.

-We played Chelsea, Liverpool and QPR

-in a tournament last week.

-We have played Arsenal and

-Tottenham, top teams in the country.

-They have a great opportunity

-to develop their game.

-What is going to help us is to know

-our next decision.

-Then you know whether to turn

-I played in school in a mixed team.

-There were a couple of girls

-on the team sometimes none.

-In school, the boys and girls

-were mixed up.

-Newtown had a girls' section.

-It was new at that time.

-When I started at seven, I played

-with ten and eleven year olds.

-It was an U12 team.

-I was young

-and was sometimes stuck in goal.

-I wasn't very technical

-at that time.

-It helped me to play against older

-girls.

-I played with them

-until I was 17 or 18.

-I then played for TNS

-in an English league.

-I then went to America

-on a scholarship.

-I lived in Oklahoma

-for eighteen months.

-In pre-season,

-we trained twice a day.

-Here, it was two

-or maybe three times a week.

-It was a shock to the system.

-In the off-season, we did strength

-and conditioning work.

-It was the first time

-I had used weights.

-It was a new experience for me.

-I came back and didn't know

-what I wanted to do.

-I knew I loved football

-and playing football.

-I started to coach and did the

-Leaders' Award through the FAW.

-I then did my C Licence...

-..and chose the University

-of South Wales in Pontypridd...

-..to do a Sport Science degree.

-I was fortunate to do my B Licence

-through the university.

-What can you improve on?

-What would make it easy?

-Communicate.

-Communicate.

-After my second year, I got a call

-from the Swansea Academy.

-They offered me a full-time job

-as a the girls' coordinator.

-There was nothing under the senior

-women's team at Swansea.

-I took the job because

-it was an amazing opportunity.

-I have been very lucky in the two

-years I have been with Swansea.

-I have been to Cape Town

-in South Africa twice.

-Our U19s competed

-at a tournament there.

-We went out a week early

-to do some community coaching.

-We wanted to raise the profile

-is huge across the world.

-They were excited in Cape Town.

-This year,

-we went to the Dunoon township.

-Kids turned up without shoes and

-socks.

-They were there

-because they loved football.

-It was quite emotional at times.

-They had almost nothing.

-But they were all smiling

-whilst playing football.

-An experience of a lifetime.

-It's incredible to be part of a club

-like Swansea.

-I'm grateful for being here.

-It hasn't sunk in really,

-even two years into the job.

-I want to help the kids

-reach their potential.

-I want as many boys from the academy

-as possible close to the first team.

-Hopefully, Swansea boys

-will end up playing for Swansea.

-We were on holiday and

-I think I was about three.

-I was straight into the deep end.

-No swimming lessons, couldn't swim.

-I still wanted to

-get in there and enjoy it.

-My Mum decided she's have to

-start me off on swimming lessons.

-I was just wild,

-jumping into the pool.

-SACRIFICE.

-My daily routine is quite brutal.

-I wake up at five

-and swim for two hours.

-By quarter past two, I have to be

-in the gym starting my weights work.

-Straight after that at four

-another two hours of swimming.

-I've sacrificed a lot of other

-activities for swimming...

-..like dancing, karate,

-going out with friends.

-It's been worth it because

-swimming is everything to me.

-It was an incredible experience

-swimming at the British champs.

-SUCCESS.

-It was overwhelming.

-I went in there

-knowing what I can do...

-..but not expecting to win at all.

-When I was doing that last length

-everything was aching and sore.

-I thought, wow, I can't see

-anyone ahead of me or beside me.

-All I can see is that wall.

-Just get there as fast as I can.

-I loved every minute of it.

-I couldn't keep the smile

-off my face.

-INSPIRATION.

-I'm so grateful to my mother.

-She's an incredible woman.

-I owe everything to her.

-I'm getting emotional.

-She's amazing

-and such an inspiration.

-She always wakes me up.

-She's there going, Chloe, get up.

-and that will be amazing.

-You've mentioned that a new approach

-..will be a priority.

-What is this and

-why is it so important?

-I've grown up in that community

-in the seventies and eighties.

-I hope I don't look that old.

-I was able

-to come out of my house...

-..into a leisure centre,

-a field or the mountains.

-I did rock climbing,

-canoeing, soccer and rugby.

-It was all on my doorstep.

-That's how community sport works.

-You have to allow people

-that opportunity to play.

-We've lost that tradition a bit.

-It was always funded with the idea

-of prevention rather than cure.

-Rather than have to

-spend the money at the end...

-..dealing with

-obesity and diabetes...

-..sport was there to encourage

-people to be healthy and fit.

-That's what I want

-to try to get back to.

-It's to show people sport doesn't

-have to be intimidating or elite.

-It can be for real people

-and it can be enjoyable.

-And literally social.

-A lot of this comes down to money.

-You have to look at the

-normal family budget in Wales.

-When things get tight, the first

-thing to go is the gym membership.

-How do we change that mind-set?

-It isn't just the gym, it's about

-kicking a football around a field.

-Going for a walk or a cycle.

-There's a gym in Ebbw Vale

-run by volunteers.

-That's just 10 a month.

-Things have to be done differently.

-We've got to the point where money

-isn't the solution anymore.

-It's about changing the way we do

-things from education...

-..and youngsters get hooked on sport

-right up to someone in retirement.

-Tell us about your community gym.

-You started with about 30 members.

-You're up to 200 or 300 members.

-Yes, 300. It's incredible.

-It started about six years ago.

-I started filling

-my garage up with gym equipment.

-A lot of people wanted to use it.

-Eventually we found some premises.

-An old miners' welfare hall.

-It was coming to the end of its life

-in terms of local authority funds.

-We took it over and

-paid them a rent to run it.

-It's run by the community.

-The personal trainers

-are qualified themselves.

-They volunteer to induct people

-and to train people up.

-It's incredibly successful and

-built around trust and community.

-The community runs it and

-decides what equipment to buy next.

-There's a strong group of Welsh

-athletes going to the Olympics.

-They'll represent us well.

-It's incredible.

-I said from the start...

-..I wasn't worried about our high

-performance and Elite athletes.

-They are incredibly well looked

-after.

-We can always do more.

-We are always seeking innovations

-and creative ways to help them.

-They are in very safe hands.

-I've spent the

-last couple of weeks...

-..being awed by all the

-technology and the data gathering.

-We can always have more.

-It would mean more investment.

-That would get more medals

-but it's the money thing.

-We have to mention

-the Commonwealth games in 2018.

-Is that a target to implement

-your ideas and plans?

-Well before that, to be honest.

-It's interesting when I advise

-companies around the world.

-They have a window of between three

-and six months to make changes.

-By 2018, we'll start

-to see those changes.

-Over the next three to six months.

-The changes I want

-are very small scale.

-I want to increase democracy...

-..and bring in

-national governing bodies.

-We're doing more for them...

-..rather than thinking we're doing

-the right thing for them.

-From the conversations

-with governments already...

-..is there a willingness

-to spread this vibe...

-..that Wales is a great place to

-host sport and participate in sport?

-Without a doubt.

-I'm here today as a result of that

-energy to make a real difference.

-We're already a proud sporting

-nation.

-Even though it's our vision to be

-even more proud of what we do.

-You only have to see when we win

-a gold medal or a Six Nations...

-..the difference that we feel

-on the Monday morning.

-It's part of our fabric in Wales.

-We just have to do more of it.

-The Commonwealth Games, 2026,

-are we going to be bidding for it?

-I think that's something

-I have to push.

-There's so many questions that have

-to be answered...

-..in terms of the economic value

-and the difference it would make.

-It's incredibly important that we

-stand out there as a nation...

-..that we can put on these events

-and make it fantastic.

-Not just for Wales,

-but for the Commonwealth.

-The thought of that

-is very exciting.

-Let's talk about this summer.

-We have to touch on Wales

-in the European Championships.

-We haven't been there

-for fifty-odd years.

-It's going to be great.

-You must be excited.

-I'm not a football fan.

-It's completely

-the wrong shaped ball for me.

-What's wonderful is we're not

-going there to make numbers up.

-It's the first one for 58 years.

-It's exciting. We're the unknown.

-I think we're going to do

-I've been hopeful.

-I've been telling everybody

-we'll get out of the group.

-We've got to hope for something
