Day 6 Darts: World Championships - Highlights

Good evening and welcome to highlights of the quarter finals of

the BDO World Darts Championship from the Lakeside. We want to get

straight on with the bulky. This is Tony O'Shea who made the final last

year. A real people's champion. Going against Robbie Green who

means business. One is the silver back, one is Kong. Only one song.

We are the monkeys. People say we I am the sole were back. I beat my

chest when I am -- Silverback. Might nick name is Kong. One lady

gave me that name when I came storming in and pulled this fellow

away from her. My walk on music gets the crowd going. It is pretty

cheesy. I thought if I ever got on television I would use it! My music

is rocking all over the world. It is something to get the fans going.

One of the first players and remember seeing on television was

Leighton Rees. He had a lovely smooth action and I copied him a

bit. People say it does remind them of him. I tried not to move my body

too much. That depends on that game. I tend to speed up. But I do not do

it naturally. It is not something I ever have tried to work on.

the next to it. Double eight. Sometimes the double five can be a

nightmare. Double 18. Double 16. I like to try to hit them all. When I

tried to practise before a match I do not try any special game. I

usually eat breakfast and then that will be the last thing I will eat.

A bit of liquid refreshment during the afternoon! I like to have an

hour just to relax. Other reading were just watching abbot of

television. Then I will come down and have a practice, have a couple

of drinks. And then the set off to the venue. I'm trying to get there

a couple of hours earlier than in previous years. It seems to be

working. And we join this one with Tony

Plenty of displays of character from the big man. This is not bad

here is another. Nine darts to 46. Go on, 11 darts. Yes, how about

that?! Robbie still with the darts in set six. He will get back to

three sets all if he can hold on. Tony is back in the groove. Tony

beat Robbie three years ago in Robbie's first ever match at

Lakeside. Just a bit of hush over the assembled crowd. They feel it

is just going Robbie's way. It is a big score! Not just big, the

biggest! Did not need that single 15. 46 then for Tony against the

darts. Composing himself. And he has got it! Double 16 again. Now he

is throwing to take a 4-2 lead. How quickly things change! We were just

talking about Robbie having the momentum. Now it is back with the

Silverback again. Robbie Green has won four DBO ranking titles in his

career. Most recently the Belgian open when he beat Christian Kist.

Looking at double 18 for the set. Composes himself once again.

Getting further away. Robbie needs volumes. That is a marker. He is

only a set away. Tony O'Shea leads 4-2. He needs to hold his throw

three times in a row. Robbie, what have you got? Big support for Tony

all round the auditorium. Jill not here tonight, teaching duty. She

will be here on Saturday. That is how nervous she gets! Tony bids to

complete the job he says he could have completed 12 months ago.

Treble 18. That has snuck in the wrong treble. He has missed 25

twice. Tops. He has hit it before, but that went all wrong. 14 now

leaves him double 16. Could prove fatal, and it does. Six darts for

78 in that leg for Tony. Just one dart at a double, which he missed.

unlucky. He will be back though because Tony O'Shea, having failed

to find a treble in his last three visits to the oche, is back on 234.

12 darts, no treble. Six darts from 78. What's happening? Robbie, at

this moment, very grateful that Tony isn't on a finish because that

was a wayward set as well. Robbie back for double top. Three darts at

it. For a two leg lead in this set which he must win. But just

beginning to give himself a Tony. He has really gone off the

boil. Really unusual for him. the game as well, 7-5 to Christian

Kist and beaten by Ted Hankey in statistically, in his Lakeside

history, in earlier sets he is better than in later sets. I don't

know, if that is necessarily true. It seems to be that way. Sometimes

the way he speaks about how it's very hot on that stage. He has lost

two stone, apparently, since last year. He did say he needed to lose

weight after losing last year's Bull's-eye would leave double 16

here. Double 8. He's now within two legs of yet another Lakeside semi-

final. He has to break in one of 19s. Having missed the treble 20

twice, Robbie knew he needed to hit We talked about the fact he needed

holding his throw and reaching the semi-finals. Now, Robbie holds his

throw three times and we are into a the way we're headed. He probably

does need a deciding set to separate these two, but not if Tony

In terms of the stats, Tony ahead. A cigarette paper between them

big man, his ninth. Two 140s in this leg from Tony O'Shea. Bull now

the shot. Yes, bull's-eye. No. So, this is a chance. Will he take it?

20 for tops. Oh, double 10. Well done. Missioned the big 20, but

hits the much smaller double 10. Brilliant adjustment from Tony

psychological blow to Robbie Green. You see him walk away, shaking his

head. He know there is is very little margin here. Here he goes

again. That's number eight for Tony O'Shea. The 17th maximum of the

match. You've got to love it when he beats his chest! Robbie is

would have taken him within a leg of victory. That 64 for Jamie will

look extremely small. Robbie needs another treble here. He's got it as

wouldn't have been too upset if I lost there tonight it was a great

atmos. Robbie made a great game there. An enjoyable game of darts

to play. It must have been great to watch. He looked like he was going

to come back at one stage? Yeah. I normally come out after those

breaks and normally play well. He ripped me my head off that set. I

thought - oh, dear. I clicked back into gear. I'm chuffed with how I

played tonight. You have the momentum, good luck for the semi.

Thanks. The Silverback, all that experience getting put to good use

on that stage. The battle of the primates he toppled King Kong, Tony

O'Shea, in another semi-final. Such a favourite here, you would love

him to lift that trophy. He is two wins away from it. The other

quarter-final tonight was Darryl Fitton he beat Stephen Bunting much

he was up against one of two Dutch men, but Darryl Fitton was taking

object on Wesley Harms. Sorry, who do you want to win this? CHANTING.

COMMENTATOR: Darryl Fitton, can he find double 14? He can't. I'm a

battler, a big scorer. Quite a nice guy off, so I've been told. I think

this year I want to be proving everybody I'm not a one day fly.

That's what I'm hoping to achieve. If you get the crowd behind you, it

is a big boast for you when the crowd are singing "there's only one

Darryl Fitton", it's fantastic. playing brilliant darts. I actually

like to see him play. Hopefully, I can do better than him.

COMMENTATOR: Four legs in a row for the electrician. He's found his

spark. He's found his rhythm. don't really know Wesley. The only

thing I know about him is that he did say me, Tony, Michael Adams

should pack in darts because we are all too old. Mean streak back.

darter went away. He has hit one before against Ross Montgomery

three years ago. Another great visit for Fitton, 150. On an 11-

darter when he is back. It is the sort of leg you can sit in your

dotage and watch again and again on the DVD. And say, I did that.

Absolutely nothing between the players in terms of the averages

before Harms threw these. Supporting the Madness fan! One

place we have not been to tonight is the mad house. Their finishing

has been that good. That is that first dart again, right in the

middle. He could not take advantage of it that time. Looking good for

Harms. One of those deciding fifth needs to find double 8. Even under

pressure, Harms delivers. Fitton now under all sorts of pressure. He

most hold or he is 3-1 down. For Harms, at worst, they are level at

the break. When it is two legs all, the scoring does tend to go awry.

practised an awful lot before he came over here. But the eternal and

And he will take a step back and just offer a little prayer I am

undertaker, has been buried under a barrage of brilliant barrels from

the No 8 seed. Harms, calm, calculating, clinical, coasts into

the last four. What a match. That is the way to do it. Then there

were six. Tony O'Shea back in familiar territory. Another semi-

final. He will face Wesley Harms. Tomorrow night, we will wait to see

if Richie George can send a Dutchman packing as he faces Jan

Dekker. The man to beat, Scott Dekker. The man to beat, Scott
