Good afternoon! Welcome to one of the most romantic sporting venues

on the planet, the Lakeside Country Club on Frimley Green. Ready tor

the 2013 BDO World Championships. Some are part of the furniture,

others are wide-eyed and full of hope. This is the dream factory of

World Darts. This tournament has spurned all but one champion that

has ever walked the earth. And now, myself and the great Bobby

George will be perched on the balcony, passing comment and

chuckling for the next nine days. You can see it here on the BBC. We

are live this weekend, live next weekend. We have dates for the

diary, next Sunday, 5 .4 5pm for the final. P you need a reason to

day they are different. All family viewing? Oh, yeah,

nothing nasty. Not with your name on it! What is going through your

head? What type of tournament will we have? I always think of the

players. I have been here. I know how they feel. They have gone

around the world, got the points. They have played here, but they

have gotten here. You can get here, my boy came here the first attempt.

Some have done that, but a few never get here. The ones that get

here, I feel for them. They are all great players, I hope that they all

play well. More about your boy, more about the

defending champion soon, but listen, the number one seed is noted a

Martin Adams it is not Scott Mitchell, it is a to-year-old

Scouser who came of age in 2012. We like to call him the Family Guy. He

calls himself the Bullet. He is the hard-hitter. He has had the best

year, but can he win it? He has gone through the year. All the way

through. He has played the youth thingment. He has won loads of

tournaments, never pressed a button here. Now he is the number one seed

but deserve it is. He played well in the World Masters. He is a great

lad. It could be his year. We will come back to the champion

in a second. He will be live in the Stadium later. What about Tony O'

Shea? He has done so well but he's been the runner-up. He is so close.

He is capable of doing it. I like his throw. He throws where

he is looking and looks where he is throwing.

Ouch! He is the great guy but never pressed the right button yet. He

could do. Can't wait. How can you possibly

not tune in! The bottom half of the draw is mouth-watering. You have

Martin Adams who wants to show the youngsters a thing or two. Scott

Waites, surely he will win at Lakeside World Professional

Championsships at some stage? He is the bookies' favourite. Who is this

dashing young man, Richie George? It is a chip off the old block.

Let's get the expectation right first of all it is a wonder he is

here. Look, he said, he would go all of

the different countries. Can't talk the lingo, got there, got the

points. He is in the World Championship. It is a great

experience for him. I never said he would win here, win this. Some

people, all their life, they never get here, but you can take the

horse to water but can he play? What about Dave Prins? He is a

tough character. He has been here three times, but he had to get here.

He had to qualify again. That is tough. He knows the rules. He will

slow the boy up. He is a proper dart player. If my boy does not

play darts, he is out. What about Martin Adams? By his

standards it is not a good year. Wolfie is number two seed. I don't

know how he did that, but he has been down a bit. He has lost a bit

of weight. Too much, I think, but he looks fit.

He can shell the shirts now, but my boy said to me he is playing well

again. So it is nice to see him playing well.

I know that you are reluctant to say that this person is going to

win, before the first round but I think that both you and I think

Scott Waites has to win it at some stage, why not this year? Scott

Waites is a great dart player. I look at him like Gary Anderson. He

never seemed to do it here but had all of the talent. Scott Waites has

everything. He played great in the Grand Slam. He is the number one

guy in this tournament. First round, I think, personally, but it does

not always work out like that. Everyone we talked about will not

be first at this stage. There is a tradition here at Lakeside, we

start with the champion, Christian Kist.

# Living in the Hall Of Fame. # How did you come up with that

nickname? Did it come in your sleep? Well, Kiss. Kiss Kiss!

is he not seeded? He has been nothing all year. He has not done

champion, so confidence will be high. He did his job, Christian

Kist did not put enough time into it, did not practise enough, world

champion, going to the parties, if you win this tournament, you are a

hero. It is hero to zero, straight away. Now he needs to go around the

world and qualify. Maybe he should have put more work in over the last

12 months, as Robbie Green has done. We would have Robbie Green on the

balcony but, health and safety. If there was any pressure at taking

on the defending champion, this man did not show it. What a performance.

The pressure was on him, coming in as defending champion. The

bookmakers made me out to be a mug. I was surprised that the odds, and

I hope a lot of the lads back home jumped on it. Dry sense you were a

bit fired-up at being ranked as an outsider? Yes, I have worked hard

this season to get a seeding. He came in as world champion, and

rightly so, and he deserved to win at last year, but he was not going

to win it this year. I put in so much hard work before it, and I

played him in the Belgian Open, beat him there, and I knew it was a

different game, different day, but I proved to myself that I could

beat him. I felt confident. He has never gone beyond the second round,

but he is speaking about a confident game.

Well done for getting through that, people say Robbie Green has

arrogance, but you cannot doubt yourself up there. You cannot

second-guess yourself. You have to think you're the best player, if

the Lakeside is the only place on the planet where you can become a

female champion, and last year it was the return of the Russian.

After a four year absence, Anastasia Dobromyslova blaze the

trail to the final, where she faced The 2012 Ladies' Professional Darts

year was a little bit different, but of course I want it. Bobby, I

think every quarter final is delicately poised, looking forward

to them. The ladies have improved. When you'd got the first title, it

was not so good, but they are getting better. The field is really

strong. They are playing like the men now. You could not pick one

person and say they will win it, they are all very good players.

Have you sensed the crowd are more involved and attached to women

start? The atmosphere during the semi-finals was amazing. --

going on, hopefully we will get more media attention, like you're

giving us. We always give you it! am not saying you do not, but the

more the better. Who will win the men's title? That will give Robbie

a good chance now that he has beaten the champions. I would like

to see Ritchie George do well, and that is not just because you're

here. Despite his dad? He is far better than his dad. Then you have

Stephen Bunting as well, who has had a really good year. Let's see

how that goes. It could be any of them. It depends how you play on

the day. Here is two men we are years since I was nine. I was

watching Jocky Wilson, my hero, it was my greatest wish ever to come

here. It is a great feeling to come back here. It would be fair to say

I have not played well here, so that would be an achievement.

Well, nerves should not be a problem for Garry Thompson. He is

nicknamed The Recliner. So-called as known by all and Sundayry as the

them. Big Robbo has been here since 2001.

You mentioned Garry Thompson being cool and calm. He does look it, but

he told me earlier he is occasionally wracked with self-

doubt. You can sometimes see it when he misses double after double,

but sometimes, he says that the in two of the last three years. A

three-time quarter-finalist but lost all three.

He said if he reaches the finals, he will win the title, is what he

told me. I hope he can come good on that.

All of the momentum here is with Garry Thompson who won the Swedish

Open this year. A semi-finalist in Germany and Belgium.

When he goes on a run like this, Garry Thompson, he is very hard to

stop. He has to dig deep here. Gary Robson knows he has the darts in

him. That is what will frustrate him. As I say, we always know what

he is thinking as he wears it on his face.

He would fancy his chances playing stay at the top of the board.

did not want to play really good mates. These two are friends. They

know each other well. They play each other lots, but they are not

best mates it is always tough to play one of your best mates on the

Garry Thompson to throw first. Game Now he has to hold throw twice and

he is through to round two. The pressure is intensifying on the

big man all the time here. not been reduced to none but not

sure if he loses this lap. Oh, yes! And the third leg, Garry

Thompson. Fourth leg it is Gary Robson firstment game on.

Garry Thompson has grown in confidence and stature and started

to hit his doubles. That will frustrate him. He had a

chance of taking a big lead. He has won six of the last seven.

Robson's game has just fallen apart a little bit.

Three time as quarter-finalist but he will do well to get to the last

fact that Garry Thompson, after starting so poorly, in finishing

has hit all of his last six doubles. That has been the difference

like that. It was all over the job. Terrible, really. When you think

the years he has played he would put them together more. He has a

really bad snatch. Most darts players are anti-heroes

but he takes it to the extreme that most people don't know, he is

all of the old habits from his very first dart.

He is boring as he is different, but he did the business. Robson

played terrible. He crumbled in the last set.

The first set. Great. Then he went down hill and down hill and had a

muck up with the scores. That did not look good. They should have

scrubbed that game with the leg and the last set he did not perform at

all. He gave up there. I don't think you should do that a guy with

his ability. He only had to hit a 140, 180, and put on the pressure,

he could have still been in it. So, champions are out, seeds are

out, how do you like that for a start? If I was playing, I would

love it, but you never know. It is a short format. Typical for the

guys, it is a lot pressure of these guys can play better darts than

that. This man will not want the next

seed to go out on this stage at 4.30pm because it is the seed of

his loins, it is Richie George. He is making he debut. There may have

been one earlier on before coming on air, Martin Atkins against Jason

Cullen. We are joining it with a qualifier, not a surprise. This is
