Day 7 Darts: World Championships

Good afternoon, welcomed to the highlight of the 2013 BDO World

Darts Championships and we are here in the private players area. Paul

Jennings already warning that warming up for his clash against

Scott Waites. Rich enjoyed playing Jan Dekker in the quarter-final

tonight. These two may play each other in the semi-final tomorrow --

Richie George. You never know who you might say. Trina Gulliver

getting ready for her semi-final against Anastasia Dobromyslova. I

it all. In cricket if you have 10 wickets. You're the ball there. Say

I was the bowler, and you are the batsmen. I have to get you out.

vein of form? I thought this time I have gone out, I can do this, I got

my head down, I'm going to do it. Last night you're playing Sharon

Prins, the Dutch baby Tom. It is always tricky when you play someone

who has not been here before because some of them do not know

any fear. They do not. She is a good player, she was trying her

best, you do not know if she is going to play well, first time, or

she is going to go. It was a difficult game, I sorted out.

If you try and change the size of a snooker table or goalposts,

the opposite, people have shown a lot of interest. I don't mind

whether it is taken as a new standard or anything, I don't care.

It is just a bit of fun? Yes, a bit of fun. You have decided that the

days of even numbers being beside each other are born, it is odd-even,

order-even. That is one of the main things, but it makes the end be

much harder. Finishing on a double, you might have an odd total, and on

the old dartboard oche numbers are together and it is easier to get a

finish. Now it is much harder. is wrong with it being slightly

easier, speaking as an amateur player? It means that weaker

players can sometimes be better players by pure chance. What is

wrong with that? It is unfair. it is not. Any footballer can swing

their food at a ball, and can score from 30 yards. The 20 are still in

the same place, if you move then it is one, 18... Talk to me about it

from there. The 17 and 19 are still in the same place. Either side of

the 20 we have one and three, rather than one and five, because

if you're going for 20 you should be penalised more if you miss it.

Also, the 19, it is decided two and four, rather than two and seven, so

there is more penalty for missing. The big difference is 16 has

shifted from down here took up there. The amateur dart player's

friend is definitely the 16 being fair, and 10 and six. If you have

46 left, you go for the 10 and hit 66, Happy Days. I can see the logic

to it, but will to look at that, 20 is the most common dark -- dart on

the board. 16 is the most popular double. The 16 is hardly an

adjustment at all from the 20. A think you have made that easier.

That is one of the advantages. 16 been in the law part of the

have four boarded numbers here, so if you wanted to take an odd number

Tony O'Shea is not too worried. Is it becoming a young man's game?

Actually not. The only thing is, we have a young Dutch breed coming up,

we are all young people, at the end of the road, I am thinking the

English players are a little bit older, at that moment I think the

Dutch are closing the gap. Dekker is well, look at his last

two years. Tonight, will you watch the darts, or will you try to get

in your own zone? I'm going to be there, because I am supporting Jan

Dekker, because he is at that guy as well. What I have a good

relationship with Ritchie George, but at the end of the day, it is

that people first. What about you, Tony? Trip to the gym? That sounds

good. He has really improved, this youngster. He is very focused, he

it goes. It is a funny game, you can score really well and must

doubles and it does not work. If I can combine the two, it will be a
