Quick thinking from Willian, disappointing from Lee Grant. It | :00:49. | :00:54.
came back to Gary Cahill, they are back in front, three points closer | :00:55. | :01:01.
to a sixth Championship. In George Eriksen who fires Tottenham ahead. | :01:02. | :01:07.
Penalty, 2-0. Penalty to Liverpool, Liverpool have the lead at the | :01:08. | :01:11.
Etihad. I Granero is they are, first chance of the game he has had. | :01:12. | :01:18.
Dawson scores, the pressure is beginning to mount again on Arsene | :01:19. | :01:25.
Wenger. Rifled into the net by Lingard. Manchester United seal the | :01:26. | :01:34.
points. Lukaku, could be four, surely it will be. Robert Huth | :01:35. | :01:43.
unmarked, Leicester mac two clear already, Jamie Vardy restores the | :01:44. | :01:50.
two goal advantage. Real chance, 2-0 Bournemouth. Into his own net, | :01:51. | :01:55.
Crystal Palace lead. Good afternoon, a reminder of the | :01:56. | :02:05.
twists and turns of a fortnight ago. After the international break we are | :02:06. | :02:09.
into the final straight of the domestic season. He's had a | :02:10. | :02:15.
miserable few years, Saido Berahino on that drugs ban and dealing with | :02:16. | :02:21.
his Demons. I was depressed every moment I walked onto the training | :02:22. | :02:26.
ground, I did not want to be there. Ben Gibson on avoiding the drop and | :02:27. | :02:31.
being related to the owner. As a kid people assumed you were only there | :02:32. | :02:36.
because of your uncle, to get a free tracksuit. Will this be the weekend | :02:37. | :02:43.
Celtic claim the Scottish title? Celtic is one of the great clubs in | :02:44. | :02:48.
the world, it's a real institution. Keeping the Saints on the straight | :02:49. | :02:55.
and narrow. And they are in crisis but still Coventry taking more than | :02:56. | :03:01.
40,000 to Wembley this weekend. This club will come again, no doubt about | :03:02. | :03:02.
it in my mind. We will also focus with Mark and | :03:03. | :03:18.
Kevin. Saido Berahino, no one has ever doubted his talent but he's | :03:19. | :03:22.
never been far from controversy. He rarely started in his final 18 | :03:23. | :03:26.
months at West Brom and failed a drug test, now he is starting again | :03:27. | :03:31.
at Stoke City where he had a frank exchange this week with Juliette | :03:32. | :03:38.
Farrington. It's not an excuse, my mum raised me right and she sees the | :03:39. | :03:43.
negative stuff it hurts her and I can see it. I'm Saido Berahino and | :03:44. | :03:49.
this is my story. I was born in Burundi in 1993 and my dad passed | :03:50. | :03:54.
away in 1997. The country was unstable, always civil war, lots of | :03:55. | :03:59.
things happening. I was back in Burundi with my mum 's best friend | :04:00. | :04:03.
and then I came to England, I was about nine but we could not get a | :04:04. | :04:07.
hold of my mother. I went through about six months where I was kept in | :04:08. | :04:11.
care and then I finally met my mum and that was it. I moved to | :04:12. | :04:16.
Birmingham, I had one year in primary school. Could not speak | :04:17. | :04:23.
English, it was really hard. I got into football and it became easier | :04:24. | :04:27.
for me, I made friends and I grew and grew and grew. I got my trial in | :04:28. | :04:32.
year seven at West Brom, six weeks. That is where it all started. Did | :04:33. | :04:40.
you miss not having a father figure? I think other kids have had the | :04:41. | :04:44.
experience of fathers have told them you cannot do things like this | :04:45. | :04:47.
because it will lead you a certain way. It's been tough but I have had | :04:48. | :04:54.
to learn, quickly because I have made major mistakes, massive | :04:55. | :04:58.
mistakes at a young age. There is quite a list of these mistakes. The | :04:59. | :05:04.
drugs. What was that about? No one knows that story, I doubly want to | :05:05. | :05:10.
go into it. Tell us what you can if that is OK. All I can say is I did | :05:11. | :05:17.
not know how it got in my system. We had specialists analyse me, took my | :05:18. | :05:20.
hair follicle for six months, I've never taken drugs in my life and no | :05:21. | :05:24.
one in my family takes drugs. There was nothing in my here, no cannabis, | :05:25. | :05:32.
cocaine, nothing that they found. I was ten whatever is it called over. | :05:33. | :05:38.
That could not have got me high or nothing. It was just one of those | :05:39. | :05:44.
things, you go on a night out, you do not know who you are around and | :05:45. | :05:48.
there are people out there to get you. Of course I was in the | :05:49. | :05:51.
nightclub so I hold my hand up for being irresponsible and from there | :05:52. | :05:57.
it all crashed down. Until this day, I still cannot understand who would | :05:58. | :06:00.
want to do that to me. It's been really tough. There is a lot of | :06:01. | :06:07.
investigation work through the FA, they did help. It was good for them | :06:08. | :06:13.
but it was tough to take. Me and my mum, they have never seen me take | :06:14. | :06:16.
drugs so for me to get banned for something I have not done, it's hard | :06:17. | :06:23.
to take. So it was spiked? Definitely, because if I was going | :06:24. | :06:27.
to get high you would take an amount where you want to get high and the | :06:28. | :06:29.
threshold would have been higher, the numbers would have been higher | :06:30. | :06:34.
that they found in my system but it was really, really low. So why would | :06:35. | :06:37.
you want to take something and not get a buzz off it? But because I'm | :06:38. | :06:45.
in the Premier League PFA have to have zero tolerance which is why I | :06:46. | :06:53.
got the eight week 's. Tony Pulis said when you left you were not his | :06:54. | :06:57.
problem any more, what was the dynamic like between you? He was | :06:58. | :07:01.
often talking about you but protecting the inner way. No one | :07:02. | :07:05.
protected me at the club, the protected me towards the drug thing | :07:06. | :07:09.
but everything about my life was out there. I just wanted to get out of | :07:10. | :07:13.
West Brom, fresh start. It wasn't working for me and it was one of the | :07:14. | :07:17.
reasons I did not want to sign. The contracts they put on the table, it | :07:18. | :07:21.
was not about money it was about my happiness. If you had a promotion | :07:22. | :07:26.
and it was a great job for you you would not say no. It works the same | :07:27. | :07:30.
way in football, when you have an opportunity to go and progress your | :07:31. | :07:33.
career you want to but it does not mean I am disrespecting the club, it | :07:34. | :07:38.
is just at the time there were a lot of things happening around me with | :07:39. | :07:41.
the chairman not wanting to sell me, he wanted to sell the club and I was | :07:42. | :07:46.
a big asset to the club so I could not get sold because of that. That | :07:47. | :07:50.
is why so many windows I did not move. I was depressed every moment I | :07:51. | :07:55.
walked into the training ground and did not want to be there. That was | :07:56. | :07:59.
the hardest thing because from going from loving something and hating the | :08:00. | :08:06.
place that made you, it's hard to take. Even if I was not playing | :08:07. | :08:11.
there are ways of doing things, there are times I was training with | :08:12. | :08:17.
the youth team. That people would say you have been a bad lad. People | :08:18. | :08:22.
would say that as a punishment for what you have done. Maybe, but it | :08:23. | :08:28.
all started from how they treated me from the beginning. Because going to | :08:29. | :08:31.
pre-season I had teams that wanted to buy me. I did not move in the | :08:32. | :08:36.
summer, as soon as I rejected the first contract, there you go. One of | :08:37. | :08:40.
the clubs which did what you were Stoke and you are here now, look at | :08:41. | :08:49.
that smile, it is back! As soon as I moved I was excited to meet | :08:50. | :08:52.
everyone, get into the regime of what they do. You knew also there | :08:53. | :08:57.
was a manager here who had wanted you for quite some time. Yes and | :08:58. | :09:02.
that helps massively, when somebody really wants you. To learn from | :09:03. | :09:07.
them, he was a great striker himself so I have been like a sponge, taking | :09:08. | :09:10.
all the information on board and trying to get back to where I was a | :09:11. | :09:15.
couple of years ago. Do you think Mark Hughes can get that potential | :09:16. | :09:18.
out of you that everyone was talking about a couple of years ago, is he | :09:19. | :09:23.
the right guy? Definitely, I would not be here if I did not believe it. | :09:24. | :09:28.
I have to get back that level and kicked all, that is what I have been | :09:29. | :09:32.
trying to do since I got here, get back into what I used to do. The big | :09:33. | :09:38.
welcome for Saido Berahino, big cheer around the stadium. Long-term | :09:39. | :09:44.
you see yourself here? Of course, I feel at home already. I have made | :09:45. | :09:51.
some friends. What does your mum say? Young when are you going to | :09:52. | :09:57.
score your first goal? When are you? Soon, hopefully, when the chances | :09:58. | :10:03.
come. It's an interview that has divided | :10:04. | :10:07.
people over the last few days, do you feel sorry for him? Do you | :10:08. | :10:12.
understand where he's coming from, many people saying why does he not | :10:13. | :10:16.
take more responsibility for the bad decisions he has made Kevin? I think | :10:17. | :10:21.
he is quite remorseful, he has regrets about how he went about | :10:22. | :10:28.
things. I have seen these situations manifested in football clubs so | :10:29. | :10:32.
often where sometimes it's either the player 's agent, the player | :10:33. | :10:37.
himself goes to see the manager or the owners, get the conversation and | :10:38. | :10:41.
get it iron out. It was one of those things where it was a snowball | :10:42. | :10:45.
effect, it continued and got worse and worse for the club and the | :10:46. | :10:50.
player. I understand the situation about being an asset to the club | :10:51. | :10:54.
which was up for sale, all these things, but the underlying fact is | :10:55. | :10:58.
he could have done a lot more on the pitch for himself to help himself. I | :10:59. | :11:04.
agree with all of that, the thing about playing is that is your role | :11:05. | :11:09.
lease. Whatever the situation, we saw it with Jonathan Woodgate and | :11:10. | :11:12.
Lee Bowyer at Leeds United, Lee Bowyer could still play and that was | :11:13. | :11:16.
how he dealt with it, Jonathan Woodgate could not, but the thing | :11:17. | :11:21.
for Saido Berahino is go out and play. Yes lack of a father figure | :11:22. | :11:25.
but I was under the impression that Tony Pulis was that guy for a while | :11:26. | :11:29.
and I think in the end it seems even Tony Pulis has gone do you know | :11:30. | :11:34.
what, I can only take you to the water so many occasions at the end | :11:35. | :11:39.
you have to drink. When he looks at it, it's, he's a really good player, | :11:40. | :11:44.
and he still only 23 so still has a chance but he has wasted his time. | :11:45. | :11:49.
West Brom fans do feel he downed tools and partly because they felt | :11:50. | :11:52.
they had a player, the season where he came to life... If it was not | :11:53. | :12:00.
such a great player it would not be as bad, and that's the thing. We | :12:01. | :12:05.
have seen them all, we have seen all these lads with all this talent, | :12:06. | :12:08.
normally a bit earlier in their career, in the end completely | :12:09. | :12:14.
disappear for whatever reason. The thing with everyone saying to him, | :12:15. | :12:18.
he is such a good player, Mauricio Pochettino wanted him, he would have | :12:19. | :12:23.
been playing instead of Dele Alli. It shows there are flaws in the | :12:24. | :12:27.
system, there is so much a player can get financially from a | :12:28. | :12:32.
professional point of view, ever can go to a player when they are 17, | :12:33. | :12:36.
coming through, but a huge downside to it where a player might not be | :12:37. | :12:40.
able to cope with these things and suddenly he's been told the club is | :12:41. | :12:45.
in for him, he wants the move and goes about it the wrong way. The | :12:46. | :12:51.
other thing is did he or has he had a mental health issue? It would be | :12:52. | :12:57.
interesting to see. He has said he has had depression but he has not | :12:58. | :13:00.
been assessed officially that we know of. Exactly, I know it is | :13:01. | :13:05.
difficult for football supporters and West Brom supporters | :13:06. | :13:08.
particularly looking at that asking how he can be depressed with all | :13:09. | :13:12.
this God-given ability but it needs looking at. Even his mum wants to | :13:13. | :13:18.
know when he will score for Stoke City, you can see why Mark Hughes | :13:19. | :13:22.
has taken a gamble. I think it was February last year he last scored, | :13:23. | :13:26.
but he has the ability and has had streaks in his career when he goes | :13:27. | :13:31.
on runs. Stoke City at Leicester today taking on a side rejuvenated | :13:32. | :13:36.
in recent weeks, Steve Wilson is there for us, we talk about the | :13:37. | :13:41.
rejuvenation, they have won every game since Claudio Ranieri left and | :13:42. | :13:43.
in the last eight of the Champions League. When you think about it | :13:44. | :13:49.
these club are almost polar opposites. Leicester almost | :13:50. | :13:54.
relegated saved by the skin of their teeth, champions the following | :13:55. | :13:56.
season and then the ups and downs and change of manager this season, | :13:57. | :14:01.
they are the epitome of inconsistency where Stoke City the | :14:02. | :14:05.
last three seasons have finished ninth and guess where they stand | :14:06. | :14:10.
this morning? Ninth of course, they are like old faithful. They had a | :14:11. | :14:15.
very combustible match earlier this season are bad Stoke City, 2-2, | :14:16. | :14:21.
Jamie Vardy sent off, Leicester thought it was a harsh decision but | :14:22. | :14:27.
he served his time, got the ban. Leicester came back with ten men to | :14:28. | :14:32.
get a draw with two goals in the last 16 minutes so we are hoping for | :14:33. | :14:37.
similar excitement here today at the King Power Stadium. It's a big day | :14:38. | :14:45.
actually at the King Power Stadium, preparations going on to celebrate | :14:46. | :14:50.
the birthday of the chairman, a big banner and pyrotechnics and all | :14:51. | :14:54.
kinds of stuff and they are giving away beer to Leicester City | :14:55. | :14:57.
supporters which is always guaranteed to make you popular. It | :14:58. | :15:02.
is happy birthday to the chairman. Happy birthday to you. | :15:03. | :15:11.
'S last bit! P 45 legs that game is one of fate in the Premier League on | :15:12. | :15:22.
a very busy Saturday, let's have a look at it. | :15:23. | :15:42.
Let's concentrate on the bottom of the table. Middlesbrough are | :15:43. | :15:47.
desperate for a win at Swansea and Ben Gibson has been speaking this | :15:48. | :15:54.
week to us. The Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson... His first | :15:55. | :15:55.
senior England call-up... Firstly, you might or your | :15:56. | :16:04.
girlfriend a holiday. I believe so and I don't think he let me forget | :16:05. | :16:09.
it, to be honest. It was international break, Friday morning, | :16:10. | :16:15.
went to training. The gaffer had us an early because the land is often | :16:16. | :16:19.
go away with their days off. Printed off the boarding card for a little | :16:20. | :16:24.
trip to Spain, checked in and finish trading was ready to go. The | :16:25. | :16:28.
secretary told me I had been called up for England. I was shocked, | :16:29. | :16:32.
delighted, it was mad. How did you break the news to your girlfriend, | :16:33. | :16:36.
did you go round and say we're not going any more? Actually, you won't | :16:37. | :16:40.
believe this, I rang her and the last international break, I | :16:41. | :16:45.
pretended I was injured just to wind her up, so I said we cannot go, I've | :16:46. | :16:48.
got training tomorrow, something of that nature, he was gutted and I | :16:49. | :16:55.
started laughing. This time I told her I was in the England squad and | :16:56. | :16:58.
he didn't believe me, he was waiting for me to start laughing and it was | :16:59. | :17:02.
only after my little brother had rang her to say how good is this | :17:03. | :17:05.
that he realised and celebrated properly. | :17:06. | :17:09.
How was it to go and join up with the England team, you didn't play | :17:10. | :17:15.
but it must have been an amazing experience? It was phenomenal, | :17:16. | :17:19.
everyone in the country dreams of thing for England when you're in the | :17:20. | :17:22.
park and this is what my friends were saying to me, we used to | :17:23. | :17:26.
pretend when we were kids, in Wembley we used to shout Beckham and | :17:27. | :17:31.
it's every young boy 's dream and to do that it was such an honour, | :17:32. | :17:34.
phenomenal and something I'd never forget. No! That's me! Quarter | :17:35. | :17:45.
schoolboy. I'm in the middle of an interview. That's Jonathan Woodgate. | :17:46. | :17:56.
He's my new coach. He's a top man. In the latter years he was here, | :17:57. | :18:00.
fantastic person to have around the dressing room, role model, leader, | :18:01. | :18:05.
the natural progression. Hassey, and at a good enough time to change | :18:06. | :18:10.
anything? Without a doubt, still ten games of the season left, massive | :18:11. | :18:14.
end. He's a legend, played at the highest level of the game, not many | :18:15. | :18:19.
English defenders get moves to Real Madrid, that happens for a reason. | :18:20. | :18:23.
Towards the back end of his career he was always helping me, taking | :18:24. | :18:27.
nearside and telling me what I could do better, what I've done well, | :18:28. | :18:31.
analysing my clips and took a long time to do that. Steve Agnew has | :18:32. | :18:36.
come on, second game in charge this week and, what's the atmosphere | :18:37. | :18:42.
like? It's really positive, we've been in difficult positions before, | :18:43. | :18:46.
so we still believe in ourselves that we have to get out of the | :18:47. | :18:50.
predicament we're in, we've known Steve Agnew for a long time and he's | :18:51. | :18:54.
a fantastic coach, encourages players to be expansive and try | :18:55. | :18:58.
things and looking forward to having a change of and mentality and trying | :18:59. | :19:02.
something different because what we're doing hasn't been working, | :19:03. | :19:06.
results and our league position shows that. Aitor Karanka really | :19:07. | :19:12.
helped your progression. I can only say positive things about him, my | :19:13. | :19:16.
career took a real upturn when he came. I have to say thanks for that | :19:17. | :19:20.
but we're in a new chapter and it starts now and have to make sure | :19:21. | :19:24.
it's a successful start to remain in the league. Having an uncle as | :19:25. | :19:28.
chairman, has it ever helped or hindered your career because some | :19:29. | :19:32.
might think you were born with a Silva spoon and had your uncle Bear. | :19:33. | :19:36.
You sound like one of the lads on the training ground! Have people | :19:37. | :19:42.
said to you, you've had it easy? Of course, that's what happens, | :19:43. | :19:46.
unfortunately. People in this world are cynical, particularly as a kid | :19:47. | :19:50.
you get jealous people and parents and I had to compete against that, | :19:51. | :19:55.
it's helped me and it's given me on. I've always had to work harder | :19:56. | :19:59.
because I was written off at the start, people assumed you were only | :20:00. | :20:02.
there because of your uncle, you were only there to get a free | :20:03. | :20:07.
tracksuit. Every manager going up through the academy, every player I | :20:08. | :20:10.
come across, every parent my mum and dad hat is stand next to they've | :20:11. | :20:15.
always thought the same, so I've had to change their own opinions and | :20:16. | :20:20.
it's a challenge and I really enjoy it. COMMENTATOR: Gibson! Playing for | :20:21. | :20:25.
your hometown club is a real roller-coaster. The apps are really | :20:26. | :20:29.
higher than your average play but the laws are really Law. You can't | :20:30. | :20:33.
get away from it but it's something you buy into that I've relished it. | :20:34. | :20:38.
It's a make or break week and it's one that we're just excited by | :20:39. | :20:43.
because we're in the relegation zone and looking at this week, it's an | :20:44. | :20:49.
opportunity to put it right. We should see in a Football Focus | :20:50. | :20:53.
first, he paid for everyone's lunch on the day of the interview, more | :20:54. | :20:56.
sign that he's a very nice young man. Mark Lawrenson is concerned | :20:57. | :21:02.
that he doesn't tackle but played every minute and you can see why | :21:03. | :21:07.
he's been linked with Chelsea. They've got the sixth best defence | :21:08. | :21:10.
in the Premier League and seeing him play for Chelsea, couldn't see him | :21:11. | :21:14.
playing for a side that were Open and expensive for one of the other | :21:15. | :21:20.
top four clubs. You just see here, Lawro talking about his tackling but | :21:21. | :21:24.
his positional sense. The blocks he gets in and how he gets back into | :21:25. | :21:28.
position, sees the run from Iheanacho. Tracks the run but maybe | :21:29. | :21:32.
doesn't look particularly quick. I think it's because he reads the | :21:33. | :21:37.
game. This is a brilliantly timed tackle because he's gone with the | :21:38. | :21:40.
wrong leg and it has to be well timed. If he doesn't he gives away | :21:41. | :21:48.
the penalty. I really like this because I think this is where his | :21:49. | :21:51.
biggest strength is, when he's in the penalty area and he is seeing | :21:52. | :21:56.
runners around him, just running it on slowly, you see his positional | :21:57. | :22:00.
sense that he takes up between the width of the goal, quite happy to | :22:01. | :22:05.
stand, his present positional sense in line with the near post, you see | :22:06. | :22:10.
his head movement, looking where Fellaini is, constantly on the | :22:11. | :22:14.
half-time, looking where the run from Fellaini will come from and he | :22:15. | :22:17.
makes a good block off the back of it. I think he's a good player but | :22:18. | :22:23.
he's seriously helped by the fact. This trend here is his strength. | :22:24. | :22:31.
They just sit three in front all the time Middlesbrough. It will be | :22:32. | :22:36.
interesting to see now with Agnew being in charge, will they try to | :22:37. | :22:39.
change it because they have to start winning some games. They have to | :22:40. | :22:43.
become a bit more Open and that will be interesting to see his | :22:44. | :22:47.
performances then. They did at show a try, they made a tactical change. | :22:48. | :22:50.
Scoring less than a game. This was the problem, we saw against | :22:51. | :23:00.
Manchester United. Playing against Manchester United, we'll circle | :23:01. | :23:03.
Negredo. He's found himself very isolated. Look at the amount of Man | :23:04. | :23:07.
United bodies in the way of the Middlesbrough man on the ball. | :23:08. | :23:12.
Difficult ball to get it into. If you watch the midfield players, | :23:13. | :23:17.
nobody actually looks forward. It's ingrained into the three midfield | :23:18. | :23:20.
players, just keep the ball. You just need to highlight the body | :23:21. | :23:24.
language of Negredo. He knows it's not coming. The ball is never coming | :23:25. | :23:30.
to him. When it gets to the wide area, Negredo wants the ball to his | :23:31. | :23:34.
feet it's the quality of the ball played into him, that's the thing, | :23:35. | :23:38.
almost as if they need a change. Agnew recognised that and in the | :23:39. | :23:42.
second half he went with two upfront. Traore has got something, | :23:43. | :23:48.
maybe inconsistent but he does have something but what Agnew recognised | :23:49. | :23:51.
in the second half was that we need to get bodies into the penalty area | :23:52. | :23:53.
so he went with two upfront and you see immediately, straight | :23:54. | :24:10.
into the game derogating bodies into the penalty area and that is where | :24:11. | :24:13.
you will get chances. That is where Middlesbrough have been negative, | :24:14. | :24:15.
spoke about the defensive record but if they're going to get out of | :24:16. | :24:18.
trouble they had to get bodies into the position to get goals. Every | :24:19. | :24:20.
team that gets promoted at the start of the season from the Championship | :24:21. | :24:23.
they wonder who will get the goal is to keep them in the league. The game | :24:24. | :24:26.
against Swansea, that is why it's so important, if Swansea witnessed a | :24:27. | :24:28.
move away from Middlesbrough and the bottom three. If you look at | :24:29. | :24:31.
Middlesbrough's next few games, it's such an important period for them. | :24:32. | :24:35.
It's huge for them tomorrow, what a massive game that is. If they win it | :24:36. | :24:39.
the right back in touch, if they lose it you can say goodbye because | :24:40. | :24:45.
the Hull City result is immaterial. Burnley to come and they face | :24:46. | :24:49.
Sunderland on the 26 April. Sunderland have two huge games, | :24:50. | :24:52.
Watford this weekend and then Leicester on Tuesday and able now | :24:53. | :24:56.
and everyone knows that momentum is key at this stage of the season and | :24:57. | :24:59.
Crystal Palace have that in bucketloads. | :25:00. | :25:09.
Crystal Palace keeping an eagle eye on those around them at the wrong | :25:10. | :25:15.
end of the table. Van Aanholt on his right foot, he's put it in. Like at | :25:16. | :25:22.
the end of the tunnel for Palace. Wilfried Zaha brings it down well | :25:23. | :25:29.
and puts it away with aplomb! It's Andros Townsend! Sensational goal. | :25:30. | :25:38.
Troy Deeney into his own net and Crystal Palace lead. Doesn't matter | :25:39. | :25:41.
how they go on when you're on the bottom of the table, as long as they | :25:42. | :25:45.
go on. Where in the bottom seven league and can't get to the top that | :25:46. | :25:50.
if we can. That run will be severely tested this afternoon and Palace | :25:51. | :25:54.
travel to Chelsea. Jonathan Pearce at Stamford Bridge. They did enjoy | :25:55. | :26:00.
themselves last season. They certainly did and they come here | :26:01. | :26:04.
with three clean sheets in a row. Mark Schwarzer is with me, former | :26:05. | :26:08.
Chelsea goalkeeper. They will be stubborn for the league leaders | :26:09. | :26:13.
today? They certainly will be. The last three games they have won, | :26:14. | :26:17.
clean sheet as well and it will be very tough at Chelsea to try keep | :26:18. | :26:21.
another clean sheet, you look at Chelsea's record with the last ten | :26:22. | :26:25.
games scoring 30 goals and conceding five, they have to rely heavily on | :26:26. | :26:30.
players like Zaha and Townsend to make inroads. What a difference to | :26:31. | :26:34.
an Palace came here at the start of last season, Chelsea's must start to | :26:35. | :26:40.
a top-flight campaign since 1978. What difference in man management | :26:41. | :26:45.
has Conte made in the dressing room? He's come down and lay down the | :26:46. | :26:48.
rules right from the start. Key players with Eden Hazard, Pedro, | :26:49. | :26:55.
keeping cost here was a big thing. He made it public he wanted to leave | :26:56. | :27:00.
in the summer, Conte has put his arm around and said you are my main man, | :27:01. | :27:04.
you stay here, we can do something special this season and he's back it | :27:05. | :27:08.
up. Players have bought into the way he wants to play and the club has | :27:09. | :27:13.
not looked back since. He's made a difference to Eden Hazard as well, | :27:14. | :27:17.
he missed the store game and the international games, we think he | :27:18. | :27:21.
will be back today. Will he be a mix is because Chelsea fans fear the | :27:22. | :27:24.
Real Madrid interest. It's a tough one, as big as Chelsea are and it | :27:25. | :27:28.
looks like it's a foregone conclusion that Chelsea will win the | :27:29. | :27:32.
title, they will be in the Champions League next season. It's very | :27:33. | :27:35.
difficult to turn down Real Madrid if they come knocking. For Chelsea, | :27:36. | :27:44.
if Real Madrid. A lot of money for Chelsea to reinvest in a few | :27:45. | :27:49.
players. Chelsea fans will be hoping he does stay here. The same question | :27:50. | :27:54.
applies to Wilfried Zaha who scored a cracking individual goal for | :27:55. | :27:58.
Nigeria against Russia but Palace fans fear he will be off to | :27:59. | :28:02.
Tottenham. Another interesting scenario could unfold because we all | :28:03. | :28:09.
know that Zaha gone to Man United in the past and didn't work out but | :28:10. | :28:13.
Tottenham would be different. Pochettino as a manager who's done | :28:14. | :28:16.
really well with the younger players, Zaha would see that as a | :28:17. | :28:22.
better option than when he went to Manchester United. More stability at | :28:23. | :28:26.
Tottenham. If a club like Spurs come in for him that could really suit | :28:27. | :28:29.
him and it would be difficult for him to say no. How difficult will it | :28:30. | :28:35.
be for Chelsea? Palace won here last year. Another victory for them today | :28:36. | :28:39.
against a team that is ten points clear, can you see that? I can, we | :28:40. | :28:44.
can't underestimate Palace, they are fighting for survival, they are on a | :28:45. | :28:49.
good run of form, Chelsea are trying to win the title, ten points clear, | :28:50. | :28:54.
I think it will be a real uphill battle for Palace today, you look at | :28:55. | :28:58.
all the stats and the professionals, they say Chelsea will win it, I'll | :28:59. | :29:02.
say the same. If you haven't seen that Zaha goal, I hope we get | :29:03. | :29:07.
another one as good and goals from quality players all over the pitch. | :29:08. | :29:12.
Use your chance to see that goal in the international break, it was very | :29:13. | :29:16.
special. It was a rare beauty. Going back to the top of the table, | :29:17. | :29:21.
Chelsea ten points clear of spas. Chelsea haven't lost in 12 and half | :29:22. | :29:27.
weeks. Middlesbrough have won in 15 weeks and you look at the next few | :29:28. | :29:31.
games. Got Manchester City and Man United to come and then play | :29:32. | :29:36.
Tottenham in the FA Cup. Home games for them as well. Looking at the Man | :29:37. | :29:41.
United game as a key game away from home, Bournemouth might be tricky. | :29:42. | :29:45.
There just so solid, even if they go away from home they might not win, | :29:46. | :29:51.
you don't fancy to lose. We are assuming all the other teams will | :29:52. | :29:55.
win at the top, which they want. They are playing each other. Spurs | :29:56. | :29:58.
keep saying we need to win every game to keep the pressure on | :29:59. | :30:03.
Chelsea, they are at Burnley today and five boys better off than this | :30:04. | :30:06.
stage last season and still way off the leaders. | :30:07. | :30:10.
The form of Chelsea has just been superb, you cannot see them slopping | :30:11. | :30:17.
up so much to allow Tottenham or Manchester City, you cannot see it. | :30:18. | :30:21.
It's more the fight for the other three Champions League spot is that | :30:22. | :30:26.
the season is about. Fourth against seventh, the Merseyside derby, a | :30:27. | :30:29.
match with a little bit of history. Liverpool children they say are | :30:30. | :30:41.
taught to walk by taking them to football matches. Would you like to | :30:42. | :30:49.
play for Liverpool? Everton, the millionaires, money no object to the | :30:50. | :30:50.
chairman said. It's going to fall for Andy King! | :30:51. | :31:07.
He's got it! Congratulations. Ian Rush good score his fourth. What a | :31:08. | :31:17.
fantastic goal! That's a lovely goal! | :31:18. | :31:26.
Boats followed up by Mane! Surely that is the goal which will win the | :31:27. | :31:52.
Derby! Today's match at Anfield, the first Liverpool home game since the | :31:53. | :31:55.
death of former player and coach Ronnie Moran, marked with a minutes | :31:56. | :32:00.
applause which we can show you now. He was so well loved at Liverpool, | :32:01. | :32:15.
so many generations of players coming through, I know you went to | :32:16. | :32:19.
his funeral on Thursday and everyone turned up. It was like a who's Who | :32:20. | :32:26.
of players from free, maybe for generations but generally somewhat | :32:27. | :32:31.
underrated by a lot of people but not anyone at that football club. He | :32:32. | :32:39.
should be up there amongst the legends. A special match day | :32:40. | :32:44.
programme as well, lovely piece on him. That was his son in the | :32:45. | :32:51.
picture. And a lovely banner. You can see more on that on Match of the | :32:52. | :32:56.
Day tonight. In terms of the teams, Liverpool, we have talked a lot | :32:57. | :33:00.
about their injury concerns and not having the strongest squad, we knew | :33:01. | :33:05.
Adam Lallana would not play, Lucas comes in for him. Firmino and | :33:06. | :33:11.
Coutinho both play after long distance international travel. Could | :33:12. | :33:18.
that affect them? I think the private plane will have helped! I | :33:19. | :33:25.
think it's a huge boost for Liverpool getting was to be up front | :33:26. | :33:29.
but Adam Lallana is huge and missing him, and they are without Jordan | :33:30. | :33:32.
Henderson as well so it is who has the discipline in midfield. Everton | :33:33. | :33:37.
have gone to three at the back, they are without Seamus Coleman and will | :33:38. | :33:41.
be for a long time but tactically what is Ronald Koeman thinking? Key | :33:42. | :33:48.
is trying to get Ross Barkley, playing like an outside number ten, | :33:49. | :33:53.
little triangle alongside Lukaku. The three at the back is | :33:54. | :33:59.
interesting, Jagielka in the middle. It's as if you are trying to say at | :34:00. | :34:04.
times become a five. Everton have legs which is unusual for them, | :34:05. | :34:08.
Gareth Barry on the bench, I think with the legs they have got in the | :34:09. | :34:13.
side... I think that is so important, these games are hectic, | :34:14. | :34:18.
quite often you don't need a ball for a while which has changed a | :34:19. | :34:24.
little bit. They are mad games. I think Liverpool will find it | :34:25. | :34:29.
difficult to break Everton down. Could be an interesting one with | :34:30. | :34:35.
Pennington, we know about Seamus Coleman but James McCarthy of | :34:36. | :34:39.
Everton has cost a bit of a star, Ronald Koeman having a pop at his | :34:40. | :34:45.
International side, the treatment from Martin O'Neill and Martin | :34:46. | :34:49.
O'Neill came straight back saying a master tactician in the blame game | :34:50. | :34:53.
is what he called Ronald Koeman, saying quiet introspection might | :34:54. | :34:56.
serve the energy manager and his staff better -- the Everton manager. | :34:57. | :35:04.
Did he not lump on the other night for the warm up in the first game? | :35:05. | :35:12.
The player himself must flag up the fact he has a problem. James | :35:13. | :35:15.
McCarthy has faced criticism regarding his availability for | :35:16. | :35:23.
games, I think in the last few games he has proven he is willing to play | :35:24. | :35:29.
through it. I can only speak for myself, I targeted international | :35:30. | :35:32.
games, if I had injuries I would try to play through desperately wanting | :35:33. | :35:38.
to play for Ireland. Turn up, then go to the doctor, if you are not | :35:39. | :35:43.
affect you are not fit. I don't think people are going to criticise | :35:44. | :35:50.
him because he's not fit, at least... If you asked the player if | :35:51. | :35:55.
he is fit and he says he is he will get played. This was 2006, Kevin | :35:56. | :36:02.
Kilbane with tricky feat leading to a red card for Steven Gerrard, do | :36:03. | :36:10.
you remember this? What a challenge. Second yellow, should have been a | :36:11. | :36:21.
second, a straight red. I have heard it said that I was diving but I | :36:22. | :36:29.
think that is debatable. That is what the Derby can be about, | :36:30. | :36:32.
reaction to that on that match this afternoon. | :36:33. | :36:41.
Alan Shearer and Martin Keown in the pundit cheers for Match of the Day | :36:42. | :36:45.
tonight. It depends what day it is? | :36:46. | :37:10.
Roadworks. It's an extra 15 minutes with all the speed bumps. Cambridge | :37:11. | :37:17.
are sinking. This is going to be an unbelievable finish. | :37:18. | :37:20.
By the time the boat race starts, Celtic could be Scottish champions | :37:21. | :37:32.
after Aberdeen 7-0 win over Dundee United last night they need to beat | :37:33. | :37:38.
Hearts for the sixth straight title, their first under Brendan Rodgers | :37:39. | :37:39.
who has been speaking to Napoli. We tried to win get the best way we | :37:40. | :37:54.
possibly could. For myself and my staff, we wanted to come and do it | :37:55. | :37:57.
in our way. I think the players have tried to take that on board, it was | :37:58. | :38:04.
going to be our first together. It was important we could do it and | :38:05. | :38:08.
really go and attack the league and do it in the best way we possibly | :38:09. | :38:13.
could. It's not just about winning here, it's about doing it in a | :38:14. | :38:18.
certain way. It's always been that tradition here at Celtic, you go | :38:19. | :38:24.
back to the great Lisbon Lions. The European Cup is on its way to | :38:25. | :38:28.
Glasgow. They are the pioneers of this club, we will never be as good | :38:29. | :38:33.
as them but they have given us a great path to follow. So in order to | :38:34. | :38:38.
do what we did and beat the record was special. It was a proud moment | :38:39. | :38:42.
but what we wanted to do was not just beat it but go on and set the | :38:43. | :38:51.
standard for as long as we could. And Celtic have beaten the record | :38:52. | :38:56.
set by the Lisbon Lions. How often do you talk about going unbeaten? | :38:57. | :39:01.
The unbeaten one is very difficult, I have always said that, the run we | :39:02. | :39:06.
are on has been incredible. It's not an easy thing to do but we want to | :39:07. | :39:11.
win every game we play and these players are doing that. If they do | :39:12. | :39:15.
not I know they have given everything. For the remainder of the | :39:16. | :39:18.
season we are going to push as hard as we have done all season. It's | :39:19. | :39:26.
inevitably raised questions about the standard of the league. If you | :39:27. | :39:30.
look at a lot of the teams in Europe you normally get one or two teams | :39:31. | :39:33.
running away with it. Or you can be is as good as you can. Celtic one of | :39:34. | :39:39.
the great clubs in the world, it truly is an institution. The club | :39:40. | :39:43.
can do no more off the field. We want to keep pushing on the field. | :39:44. | :39:50.
If that means winning the league by five points, 25 points, we will | :39:51. | :39:54.
always do the best we can. It seems you have found somewhere you are | :39:55. | :40:01.
very comfortable. I love it here, of course, because it really is a dream | :40:02. | :40:05.
for me, a boy from Northern Ireland who grew up supporting Celtic and | :40:06. | :40:10.
always wanted to play for Celtic but never had the chance. To manage is a | :40:11. | :40:17.
real honour, to be here. My whole decision to come to Scotland was | :40:18. | :40:22.
based on Glasgow Celtic. But I also had great memories of Liverpool when | :40:23. | :40:26.
I was there. Did not end so well but I am very proud that when I meet | :40:27. | :40:30.
Liverpool supporters they are very appreciative of the work we had, | :40:31. | :40:35.
everyone talks about the season we went close and the level of football | :40:36. | :40:39.
and I learned from that as a coach and manager. Maybe one day I will go | :40:40. | :40:45.
back to the Premier League but I have come here to try to build | :40:46. | :40:49.
something, create something that leaves the club in a better place. I | :40:50. | :40:54.
am really happy in my life and like I say, really looking to the future | :40:55. | :40:59.
to hopefully keep developing and improving the club. To correct | :41:00. | :41:07.
myself, Dundee beaten last night, not Dundee United, my fault, got | :41:08. | :41:13.
carried away. As Brendan Rodgers was saying, unbeaten domestic way all | :41:14. | :41:17.
season, it's an achievement and it would be important for him to win | :41:18. | :41:25.
the title. Most definitely, signing Dembele was a masterstroke, they | :41:26. | :41:29.
splashed out on him and he has been a massive bonus. It's no good going | :41:30. | :41:36.
on about the league because it is not Celtic's fault that some of the | :41:37. | :41:40.
opposition are very ordinarily, you still have to beat them and you can | :41:41. | :41:45.
only beat the team in front of you. They had a decent run in the | :41:46. | :41:48.
Champions League and next season 's Champions League football but that | :41:49. | :41:54.
is the acid test. That is how Brendan Rodgers will be judged, how | :41:55. | :41:57.
they perform in the Champions League. Do you think we will see him | :41:58. | :42:02.
back in the Premier League in this country? It was good for him to get | :42:03. | :42:06.
away after what happened at Liverpool in the end. You cannot say | :42:07. | :42:10.
you are out of the limelight managing Celtic but he has stepped | :42:11. | :42:14.
away for a for awhile. But I could see him back. I think he would get a | :42:15. | :42:21.
job in the Premier definitely. Busy Sunday in the Premier League, | :42:22. | :42:24.
another rather tasty offering as Manchester take on Arsenal, the | :42:25. | :42:33.
Gunners desperate to take on the top four is the uncertainty over the | :42:34. | :42:40.
boss continues. I personally respect him hugely as a manager and think he | :42:41. | :42:44.
has done an exceptional, he has had an exceptional career. It's his | :42:45. | :42:51.
first season. Once he has been a Manchester City for 20 years we will | :42:52. | :42:56.
get the same treatment! I am sure the fans respect a lot what Arsene | :42:57. | :43:01.
Wenger has done and is doing. People should understand how difficult it | :43:02. | :43:06.
is today, the football, all the teams are well prepared. When the | :43:07. | :43:11.
bosses or Arsene Wenger decides to stay our keep going, they believe | :43:12. | :43:17.
it's the best solution for Arsenal. I am very clear in my mind, do I | :43:18. | :43:26.
stayed two months saute years? My commitment will be exactly the same. | :43:27. | :43:30.
At the moment not sorted completely out. It's so much uncertainty around | :43:31. | :43:36.
the club at the moment, in their worst run of form in his entire time | :43:37. | :43:43.
there. I think it has made them rudderless. When you throw in what | :43:44. | :43:47.
has happened with Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez's contracts it's a | :43:48. | :43:54.
strange situation to be in. I have to say at the moment I don't think | :43:55. | :43:58.
they will finish in the top four and that will sully his record because | :43:59. | :44:01.
his record in the Champions League is nothing short of sensational. He | :44:02. | :44:07.
has been a fantastic manager, you look at it now and you think maybe | :44:08. | :44:13.
now is the time. I do not agree with his assessment when he is saying | :44:14. | :44:17.
about his own uncertainty not affecting the players because the | :44:18. | :44:20.
players are constantly asked, you have to go out and perform for | :44:21. | :44:24.
yourself and team-mates but it is affecting the players. Players sit | :44:25. | :44:29.
there and you either manager, I am listening to you and I am secretly | :44:30. | :44:33.
thinking you might not be here in a few weeks, that is how players are | :44:34. | :44:39.
and always will be. Consequently, lost the last four in five, you can | :44:40. | :44:45.
understand why. From the Manchester City point of view, Pep Guardiola | :44:46. | :44:49.
saying he has great admiration for Sanchez, had him at Barcelona and | :44:50. | :44:54.
Chelsea are sniffing around. Our Manchester City finding form at the | :44:55. | :44:57.
right time and will be finish the season well? They are exciting to | :44:58. | :45:03.
watch, no matter what anyone says about them defensively, the game | :45:04. | :45:07.
against Liverpool, either side could have won. Perhaps if they sign one | :45:08. | :45:12.
or two more defenders and perhaps get a good goalkeeper they could be | :45:13. | :45:13.
serious force. They have been better defensively | :45:14. | :45:25.
since they went back to four. Regular players. It's not brain... | :45:26. | :45:32.
Rocket science! Man City's women through to the semifinals of the | :45:33. | :45:37.
women's Champions League thanks to a 2-0 aggregate lead and a face to | :45:38. | :45:41.
holders Lyon in the semifinal on the final is in Cardiff in May. As go to | :45:42. | :45:47.
Old Trafford where Manchester United, unbeaten in 18 Premier | :45:48. | :45:50.
League games stretching all the way back to October, ten wins, eight | :45:51. | :45:55.
draws, up to fifth, West Brom today for them. West Brom have got a good | :45:56. | :46:01.
recent record against Manchester United. They do, if West Brom can | :46:02. | :46:06.
win this game it would be four seasons in a row that West Bromich | :46:07. | :46:10.
Albion would have beaten Manchester United. We remember the last game | :46:11. | :46:18.
that Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge, 5-5 draw. Since he has | :46:19. | :46:22.
departed, West Brom have beaten Manchester United at least once per | :46:23. | :46:25.
season. Big injury problems for Jose Mourinho. Juan Mata has had to have | :46:26. | :46:32.
groin surgery, Fellaini picked up a tall injury on international duty | :46:33. | :46:36.
and we don't know if he will be involved, Smalling and Jones | :46:37. | :46:38.
clattered into each other in training for the national team, so | :46:39. | :46:42.
they are both out injured. A long list and then you put in the | :46:43. | :46:45.
suspensions to Ibrahimovic and Herrera as well. The week that | :46:46. | :46:50.
Bastian Schweinsteiger went to join the MLS, he is the tenor player Jose | :46:51. | :46:55.
Mourinho could do with. At the moment, used to be a joke around | :46:56. | :46:58.
here that Manchester United never play at three o'clock a Saturday. | :46:59. | :47:05.
And the moment, today is their third Premier League game in 48 days. They | :47:06. | :47:11.
have been so involved with cup competitions but now it's going to | :47:12. | :47:15.
get really busy and this is the sort of nine games in the month of April | :47:16. | :47:18.
that could define Manchester United's season. Plenty more | :47:19. | :47:26.
tomorrow's EFL Trophy final will see more than 40,000 Coventry City fans | :47:27. | :47:32.
heading to Wembley to see the team take on Oxford United. It is a rare | :47:33. | :47:36.
ray of sunshine for a club suffering big time. Bottom of League 1 and of | :47:37. | :47:38.
the owners. They may be going to Wembley this | :47:39. | :47:49.
weekend but there is no sugar-coating Coventry City's | :47:50. | :47:51.
decline since. The four seasons in the top flight came to an end in | :47:52. | :47:55.
2001, particularly since they were taken over in 2007 by a hedge fund | :47:56. | :48:03.
Sisu who had designs on Southampton. No academy based on this year, no | :48:04. | :48:07.
stadium to play and from summer next year. Unless things change, there | :48:08. | :48:12.
will be no football club. Our stance is the football club's owners need | :48:13. | :48:16.
to put the club up for sale, they've had a decade to try to turn this | :48:17. | :48:20.
football club around and in that time almost every conceivable merger | :48:21. | :48:22.
of the football club has gone backwards. Administration, a year in | :48:23. | :48:29.
exile in Northampton, supporter protests, nine permanent managers | :48:30. | :48:34.
and now heading for the fourth tier for the first time since 1959. This | :48:35. | :48:45.
is a club that is etched in your hand, was the vision that's been | :48:46. | :48:48.
sold to you? Getting a really good team and successful team on the | :48:49. | :48:53.
pitch but that is in the future. The problem is you know what you've | :48:54. | :48:57.
walked into, hence my question. Where does this club go long-term? | :48:58. | :49:03.
Obviously that is a question for higher up in the club. You must have | :49:04. | :49:08.
asked that, you wouldn't have come back otherwise? For me, all I can | :49:09. | :49:16.
affect us on the pitch. The Sky Blues are sky-high! Can you believe | :49:17. | :49:23.
the contrast of the club back then until now. There's no escaping the | :49:24. | :49:27.
fact we've been very disappointing this year and the club is a lot | :49:28. | :49:32.
different to what it was 30 years ago. Just won back-to-back games | :49:33. | :49:36.
which was important coming into this, so they feel a bit better | :49:37. | :49:41.
about themselves, feel more confident and they believe they can | :49:42. | :49:43.
win a football match, Mark has done that in a short space of time. | :49:44. | :49:50.
Presumably the fans can appreciate the human effort that has been put | :49:51. | :49:55.
in by a procession of managers that are trying their best and also the | :49:56. | :50:00.
players. Coventry City is not the owners and most fans are aware of | :50:01. | :50:04.
that, Coventry City is run by people who care about this football club, | :50:05. | :50:07.
people who are passionate about what they do and many other people in | :50:08. | :50:12.
Coventry City do a fantastic job and nobody has said anything different. | :50:13. | :50:18.
it is pure escapism this weekend. The possibility of country going out | :50:19. | :50:24.
of existence and we have 46,000 fans following them to Wembley. The crowd | :50:25. | :50:28.
are so passionate, desperate to cheer them, they don't want to do | :50:29. | :50:32.
anything negative. They want to be behind the team in a positive way | :50:33. | :50:35.
and they can make such a difference. Sunday is a big opportunity for them | :50:36. | :50:40.
to go and enjoy the occasion. It's been 30 years since that happened | :50:41. | :50:43.
and you can see what happened last and they were underdogs. One club | :50:44. | :50:47.
City, the fact we are taking 40,000 people to Wembley shows what a big | :50:48. | :50:54.
club this is. The potential for the future as well. There is real | :50:55. | :50:58.
potential. This club will come again, no doubt about that. It's | :50:59. | :51:03.
just how long it takes. Proper club hero. Kevin, you ended your career | :51:04. | :51:11.
at Coventry, just listen to the fans, you watch the fans on the | :51:12. | :51:15.
phone-ins, they are so frustrated and it's understandable. Hard to see | :51:16. | :51:20.
a way out, isn't it? At the moment yes, the club has to be sold to move | :51:21. | :51:24.
in a different direction. I feel like it's been totally mismanaged | :51:25. | :51:27.
since leaving Highfield Road and it seems like an eternity since they | :51:28. | :51:31.
left Highfield Road. When I signed for the club you sensed that | :51:32. | :51:35.
desperation from what the club wanted to achieve, League 1 at the | :51:36. | :51:39.
time, desperate to get back into the Championship but there are no | :51:40. | :51:44.
revenues are being generated to give Mark Robins or whoever will manage | :51:45. | :51:48.
the club long term the platform to get back into the Championship and | :51:49. | :51:51.
then try to get back into the Premier League. They are in a real | :51:52. | :51:55.
rot at the moment and in a dire situation. Any money that comes | :51:56. | :52:00.
through the gate does not go to the football club? It's a difficult one | :52:01. | :52:07.
to assess but essentially the match day revenue, they're not generating | :52:08. | :52:13.
it. Who agreed that? This is part of the frustration of the fans. How can | :52:14. | :52:17.
you get yourself in a position where you would agree that? They are in a | :52:18. | :52:22.
horrible rot at the moment and would be a good weekend if they could win | :52:23. | :52:28.
the trophy. Oxford United are taking potentially 30,000 there as well. | :52:29. | :52:34.
Great occasion. Avoiding and 40 at all costs! 70,000 people for this | :52:35. | :52:42.
game, fantastic. We talked about the Merseyside derby today, we should | :52:43. | :52:46.
update you on ago. Sadio Mane with an early goal for Liverpool. 1-0 | :52:47. | :52:51.
Liverpool is the latest. But let's go to El Clasico. Southampton | :52:52. | :52:56.
against Bournemouth, separated by 27 miles and just one place in league. | :52:57. | :53:01.
Claude Puel the Southampton manager has been speaking to us about his | :53:02. | :53:02.
coaching philosophy. Is the Premier League, has English | :53:03. | :53:12.
football lived up to expectations? Of course, it's a great Premier | :53:13. | :53:17.
League and the best Championship in the world. A great opportunity to | :53:18. | :53:23.
participate against great managers but it's very interesting to train | :53:24. | :53:29.
here Naidin. What has it been like been adapting to the English | :53:30. | :53:32.
lifestyle? To speaking Bush, it's difficult at the beginning. To find | :53:33. | :53:39.
the good words and a good sentence and to give a good message -- to | :53:40. | :53:44.
speak English. It's a great place, very interesting. The fans are | :53:45. | :53:52.
fantastic. Unlike in England you have the atmosphere around the | :53:53. | :53:57.
football. Is it starting to feel at home, Southampton, for you? It's | :53:58. | :54:02.
like Monaco, with the sea and the boats, I live in a village, it's | :54:03. | :54:10.
beautiful. I like the place, it's a good club, it has a good philosophy. | :54:11. | :54:16.
Good academy. It's important for me to work with young players and to | :54:17. | :54:21.
develop them and to improve them. You have known Arsene Wenger for a | :54:22. | :54:24.
long time. Did you ask him for advice before coming to England? I | :54:25. | :54:32.
discussed a little before I signed. He was my former trainer for seven | :54:33. | :54:40.
years at Monaco. It's... He's an important man in an important period | :54:41. | :54:46.
and he told me that Southampton are fantastic and it was a good | :54:47. | :54:51.
challenge for me. I think he is right. You've been involved in some | :54:52. | :54:57.
great derbies in your career, the game against Bournemouth coming up, | :54:58. | :55:00.
how do you approach that, can that develop into a big derby for | :55:01. | :55:04.
Southampton? It's an important game for the fans. The first match, it's | :55:05. | :55:12.
important to make the fans happy. It's also important to win this game | :55:13. | :55:18.
and to have a good result because it's important to get up the table. | :55:19. | :55:24.
He faced a big challenge when you came to the club because Southampton | :55:25. | :55:27.
has this reputation as a selling club, selling some of the big stars, | :55:28. | :55:31.
how worried are you about the summer and perhaps losing more players? We | :55:32. | :55:35.
will see what happens at the end of the season but I think it's | :55:36. | :55:40.
important, of course, to try to keep our best players and to continue to | :55:41. | :55:48.
develop players and the team. If we sell an important player, it's | :55:49. | :55:54.
important to have the solution to replace him but for me and for the | :55:55. | :55:59.
club and for Southampton it's important to start with a strong | :56:00. | :56:05.
team for the next season, of course. He's had quite a career in France. | :56:06. | :56:09.
Come on to the Southampton hot seat and followed their system, which has | :56:10. | :56:15.
been so successful. Incredible what they keep on doing. Nobody had | :56:16. | :56:19.
really heard of Claude Puel when he came into the Premier League but got | :56:20. | :56:24.
them to the League Cup final. The story of Southampton is amazing. | :56:25. | :56:28.
Even bringing Gabbiadini NMT looks a real find. Overall the whole | :56:29. | :56:32.
structure of the club, they're almost like the benchmark for a lot | :56:33. | :56:37.
of others. Eddie Howe Manager of the Month for March but they've never | :56:38. | :56:42.
ever won at Southampton. Ever. Have they played their much? 12 times. | :56:43. | :56:50.
Not an impressive stat! The image of the week, if you haven't seen it, | :56:51. | :56:56.
this is Cristiano Ronaldo. The thing behind him is meant to be Cristiano | :56:57. | :56:59.
Ronaldo. Here it is full frame at the airport which is being named | :57:00. | :57:06.
after the Portuguese star. And this is Niall Quinn. What do you think? | :57:07. | :57:15.
Ronaldo is not too proud of that. Have a look at this. What do you | :57:16. | :57:22.
think? I'm not accepting that's been run on Football Focus! What about | :57:23. | :57:28.
the goalkeeper? Third touch of the game. Mohammed. Look how far the | :57:29. | :57:38.
goalkeeper as a way. Don't talk to him about it! That's it for this | :57:39. | :57:43.
week, we'll see you next Saturday at midday. Predictions of a Chelsea fan | :57:44. | :57:48.
who like Jason hits a decent deadbolt. -- dead ball. | :57:49. | :58:02.
I like goals when you have to watch them again and again. Gianfranco is | :58:03. | :58:08.
although's backheel against Norwich, fourth round of the cup. I watch it | :58:09. | :58:18.
on YouTube once a month. Conti's and hair transplant is amazing. I didn't | :58:19. | :58:27.
even realise it was a transplant, it's only when I saw clips of him. I | :58:28. | :58:33.
don't know how he's maintained it. I'm hoping for a Burnley win. | :58:34. | :58:38.
Tottenham are too good at the moment, I think Burnley will score. | :58:39. | :58:45.
West Brom didn't surprise anyone by beating Arsenal and I think it's | :58:46. | :58:54.
time for another surprise,. Palace are going to come out fighting. Zaha | :58:55. | :59:02.
will impress. I don't think they will score under think Chelsea will | :59:03. | :59:04.
run out easy winners. | :59:05. | :59:07. |
