Transfer Deadline Day Special Football Focus

Good evening everybody. Welcome to Football Focus on deadline day. With

us for the next 30 minutes, Jermaine Jenas and Danny Murphy. We'd love

closes. Let's remind you of what's been happening today. Back on the

Kings Road two years after his ?50 million move to PSG, is David Luiz

about to return to Chelsea? Plenty of loan moves around today, the

highest profile of those sees Arsenal's Jack Wilshere on his way

to Bournemouth for the rest of the season. Just six goals at Manchester

City, Wilfried Bony has signed for Stoke, also on a season-long loan.

It's been a strange old day of wrangling. Moussa Sissoko has left

Newcastle, is he on his way to Spurs despite interest from Everton? These

are the main Premier League coming from going today. Jack Wilshere and

Serge Gnabry have left Arsenal. Jeff Hendrick has become Burnley's record

signing. Marcos Alonso has joined Chelsea from Fiorentina. Leicester

smashed their transfer record bringing in Slimani from Sporting

Lisbon for nearly ?30 million. Five departures at Manchester City.

Sunderland have signed Didier Ndong the 16.5 million. Georges-Kevin

Nkoudou has finally a group and move to Tottenham. A busy day. We have

got used to it being so on transfer date, but of those moves, which one

would you pick out? The Jack Wilshere one does bring up, because

it's a brave decision from him, to try and go and play every week

somewhere else in a team that probably won't dominate games as

much. I'm pleased for him that he is firstly staying in the Premier

League, I think that's important for competitive edge, and he's gone to a

team that played the right way. We were just talking about how we hope

for him that he stays fit. We know about his talent and this might just

be the platform he needs. I think it is a clever move from Eddie Howe. We

will talk more about that. What does it say about the amount of money

spent, 13 of the 20 Premier League sides have broken the record this

window? That's a world where in football. There is that much money

flying around from TV deals that have been put in place. Clubs are

now able to go and break their records. They have to keep up. The

Premier League is where it's at. For all of these clubs, to compete, they

need to spend the money and that's what they are doing. When we asked

Jermaine to come on the programme he said he wouldn't be involved if

deadline Dennis wasn't involved! There he is. Tidy up Moussa Sissoko

for us if you can, where is he going? Deadline day wouldn't be a

deadline day without a saga. This morning. An increase their bid of

?16 million to ?25 million. Newcastle were adamant they wanted

?30 million. Everton joined the race and bid first and that offer was

formally accepted by Newcastle united from Everton. But the

player's preference has been to go to North London. But only an hour

before the deadline was set to run outdid Tottenham make the bid of ?30

million, which has since been accepted by Newcastle United. We are

now awaiting for that deal to go through, although French radio

reporting Sissoko will sign a five-year at White Hart terrain for

?30 million. We are waiting for that one to go through and also, David

Luiz. The surprise move, it had been touted in some of the papers. A

return to Chelsea. He left Chelsea in 2014. The agreement has been

reached with PSG but that is subject to him passing a medical and

agreeing personal terms, on a day where Premier League spending has

gone past ?1 billion and Chelsea have also brought in Marcos Alonso

from Fiorentina, a five-year deal for the former Bolton and Sunderland

defender. Anything else we should be looking out for in the next few

hours? One that has just gone through, Hull City. Mbokani is

coming on loan from Dynamo Kiev. He was at Norwich City last year. Mike

Phelan has drafted him in before the deadline has closed. We will be back

He is great to watch, isn't he? He is a talented footballer who gives

options, can play central defence, holding role in midfield and gives

them the flexibility to play three at the back, which we've seen he

likes. I know he might be first choice but still a great addition.

Regardless if he is first was not, sold him for 50 million and brought

him back for 30. A club like Celtic, to not be able to get first Choice,

second choice, third choice. Eventually it seems like they needed

somebody, let's go back to David Luiz. Is that the case? It seems the

case but that is not always a negative. It is nice in football to

have a bit of loyalty every now and again. I think what Bonucci is done

at Juventus, it's refreshing. I watched him a lot in the year rose

and he is special. You can see with the three centre-half they have at

Juventus, it was going to be difficult to break them up. Antonio

Conte did all he could to get him but it was quite nice to see him

stick to his club and say, listen, this is where I want to be. But

listen, they still have a fantastic centre-half in David Luiz. Like you

said, at times he's a bit too entertaining for some managers, but

I think as he gets older, he will keep developing. Dave said he is a

Chelsea legend but it smacks a little of desperation. Another

viewer says not even first Choice that PSG. He started all three

league games this season... Good competition. Where would you slot

him in, go back three? You would have to see him in training. I don't

know where he sat at the Premier League level. Why not? I think it

would free up the wing-backs. He is brought in Alonso to play on the

left. Azpilicueta could do the right side. If you go with three, how

would you fit in Hazard and Willian? We were talking earlier, getting

technical, they are two the best wide players if not the best in the

league. They will start. It will be interesting to see who does play.

You don't really spend that much on a player and not play them, do you?

You said earlier, you picked out Jack Wilshere from the loan move

today Foster would you go along with that? I totally agree. Do you

understand the people that say... The Roma thing didn't work out

because of past dealings with them, but does that show enough ambition

from Wilshere? Is it the right club at the right time? If anything it's

the other end of the scale, a brave move. It would have been easier to

go a club -- to a club like Romao, a top club. For him to go to a club

like Bournemouth, coming from Arsenal, where he has spent the

majority of his career, it will be a bit of a shock to him at times. I

think the way Eddie Howe plays his football, it will really fit in, the

way Jack Wilshere places football. Everything you can see going through

him... Everything is going to be on the ground. It's the way Bournemouth

play. I think the most important thing for him is he just gets games

under his belt. If he had gone to Roma, would have been off the radar

again. Another year of Jack out of the Premiership. In all honesty we

haven't seen anything of Jack because of his injuries in the last

two years. He is a talented boy and we want to see him playing well in

the Premier League. A lot of comments, one saying we talk about

Wilshere as if he is world-class. He is highly rated and it would be good

to see him play for a season and stay fit. How do you think he might

affect the dynamic of the Bournemouth dressing

room because he is a big name? That are times when certain players come

in and can affect that but I don't think so in this case. The reason I

say that, because he is a super talent and comes into a group with

limited experience in the Premier League, I think they will embrace

him. They want to get better and they will learn from him and his

confidence unwillingness to get on the ball. The other thing is, he

will earn himself a little bit. He will have to defend more play the

position he hasn't played under Arsene Wenger before. I think the

majority of the Bournemouth players will be excited play the position he

terms of the fact he hasn't just accepted... He could have sat at man

city and relaxed for half the season, a season, collected his

wages... He has something built in him, Joe Hart, its pride and that

character that he has within himself, that he wants to play

football. He wants to maintain his England number one shirt. Torino

have given him the opportunity to go and do that. I wouldn't even call it

a brave move. I think for goalkeepers, whether you are bottom

of the league... Moving to a lesser team it is sometimes better, more of

a chance to show what you can do. Samir Nasri has gone, and Wilfried

Bony, cost ?25 million, he has gone to stop. Good for them? Yes, I think

it was a really clever move. He didn't have enough game time. Behind

one of the best strikers in the world, so it's understandable. When

he was at Swansea playing regularly, because he is a big guy, needs to

play regularly. His goal is to games is very good. I think Stoke have

done some good business there. He could be the little piece they have

been missing. All around the midfield area they have some good

players and up top... Arnautovic and Shaqiri. It gives them a focal

point. He is a bit like Marcuse. I'm looking forward to seeing him play.

He is a big unit. Transfer day is so much about social media. It has been

He is and it will be a five-year deal for some has happened,

and that buys them an extra two hours to finalise the paperwork and

complete that transfer. Moussa Sissoko will be going to Tottenham,

?30 million, five-year deal. You mentioned Nkoudou, signed from

Marseille for just over ?9 million. Clinton and GE has gone from the

other direction on a season-long loan. Everton, although they missed

out on Sissoko, I'm led to believe they are not very happy at Moussa

Sissoko this evening. They have brought in Enner Valencia. I was

told earlier it was only a 60% chance of happening on loan from

West Ham United, because he is in South America, but they have signed

him on loan with a view to a permanent deal for around ?14.5

million. There are lots of things we are not

able to talk about in this half hour programme but there is more

information on the website as well. On Sissoko, it is good business,

isn't it? It is good business considering how poorly he performed.

He had a few good games in the year rose, but that does not warrant the

amount of money for me. We were talking earlier about Everton and

Tottenham but now it does look like Tottenham. Where is he going to

play? You imagine he would play for that amount of money. They do need

some pace in the side. I was at the game at the weekend and they do lack

some players who can go around the back of the team. A couple of years

ago he was unstoppable. When you see a midfielder in that form, pace and

power, it is the one thing which scares everybody and he has got it

in abundance. The one thing that worries me, when you watch Spurs,

your touch has to be on one point, it gets fired into you, and I have

not seen that from him, that assured touch within his game. But they are

crying out for someone to go flying past Harry Kane and get into the box

and he could do that. Now you have spent 30 million quid on a player

and you have no idea whether he will you a better team. That is a fair

point but if you are Pochettino, he has done really good things with

players in terms of developing them. He seems like the type of man, I

have not met him, who has confidence in himself to coach a player to be

better. Certainly, all the tools are therefore Sissoko so he will be

thinking, I can improve him, I will get him fit and playing in a

position that suits him. It would not surprise me if he has a really

good season under that manager. We have to talk about Leicester. They

are another team who have broken their transfer record. They have

brought in Islam Slimani. He is 28 but has scored plenty of goals in

Portugal. He could be a key man. I think anybody who has done that over

that ratio, it is one of the hardest things to do, to put the ball in the

back of the net, and it seems to come natural to him. Have you seen

him play? I have seen a bit of him. He is a bit of an all-rounder. He

has a bit of everything to his game. It is hard to see because he is a

striker and he plays up high, with Vardy who has that role, lastly you

saw Okazaki being merely a midfielder and Vardy playing the

lone role. I would imagine those two will have to play a bit higher up

together. Certainly, the goal ratio is fantastic. He is calm in front of

goal and with his age, even though it is a negative in terms of the

cell in four years' time, it is a comfortable pace. He plays with a

swagger will stop I have to ask you about Balotelli. Manchester City

paid ?24 million and now he is on a free to Nice. It is last chance

saloon for Mario Balotelli. From what I have heard about him, as

allowed, great lad in and around the training ground. Yes, he has had his

troubles on the pitch at times, but there is something in there. Surely,

what has happened to him now, with this move to Nice, it is telling him

what the world of football things about him and this is his last

opportunity. What do you think about him? Do so disappointing, to seek a

player so talented fail so often. I was at the Italy game and I have

never seen him run around so much. He was causing mayhem. He was

playing with fire in his belly. At other times, at Liverpool, I am

seeing him strut about, Walkabout and I'm thinking, he needs someone

to make the penny dropped and I don't know who that is. It might be

the Nice manager. I hope so. Grow quickly, Hal Robson-Kanu, a free

agent, he is hopefully going to West Brom. He is having a medical other.

We thought he might go somewhere after a good year rose. When you

watched him for Wales you think how are you in this situation? As a

hold-up man, he has everything you want. He was strong, physical with

players, he believed if you in the European Championships, took some

beautiful chances and stuck them away. If he does get over the line

for West Brom, they have got a good one. News from the Premier League

tends to dominate headlines on this day but it has also been a busy few

weeks in the Football League and we can round up the biggest deals in

this window. Newcastle United may have netted

quite a windfall from the players they sold, but they have not been

afraid to splash the cash either. In total, they signed 11 including

Dwight Gayle from Crystal Palace and Matt Ritchie from Bournemouth for a

combined 22 million. Aston Villa twice broke the

Championship Championship record, first taking Ross MacCormack and

yesterday Jonathan codger from Bristol City for a fee which could

rise to 15 million. Norwich raised 10 million from the

sale of Nathan Redmond to Southampton, spending most of that

recruiting Alex Prichard from Spurs. Also, Scotland was that much touted

answer to Gareth Bale, Oliver Berg for 13 million. Darty -- Derby

County signed Matt adventurer. Leeds snapped up Oxford United's promising

midfielder Kemal roof for a more modest ?3 million.

Codger suddenly he is worth five times what he was signed for. What

about the emergency loan system? That system has changed now. I don't

think people have fully realised the implications of this. Fifa have

abolished the emergency loan window so we are still seeing six-month

year loan deals done today, but if your team gets both your left-backs

injured, you are stuck until the 1st of January. You have got to wait

until the 1st of January for the transfer window to open. That will

have a big impact. Thank you. Danny, that loan system, can you see a

positive in that? Of course. It encourages you to coach the players

you have already got, ring through some youngsters you might not have,

you have only got until January. If you have two or three goalkeepers

and you need a goalkeeper that is fine, think the rule applies and you

can still get one, but in terms of players what are you saying? Another

defender cannot play left-back. I have played in lower leagues in four

years, I did think we ever used an emergency loan because we put a

young lad in all we adapted someone's position. I think it is a

good thing, coach the players and give the angst is more of a chance.

I would like the coaches to have until January, once you have coach,

you cannot sack them until January. I think that would be a good thing

as well. Quite a few Forest fans wanting to contact you about Oliver

Burke who has gone to Leipzig. It is a fascinating move. In all honesty,

when I first heard about the move, I had to Google the team because they

are a newly formed team. They are giving it a right go with the

youngsters but he is a special talent. You always question is it

the right one? Only time will tell. I was not entirely happy. I was

hoping he would go somewhere and come back to Forest and continue his

education but as I understand that the club did not give him much

opportunity so the lad has gone on his way and hopefully, he kicks on

with his career. It will be in just into C how he develops. Let's remind
