Transfer Deadline Special Football Focus

Good evening. January's transfer window is now shut, and once again

it has been a busy one. David Beckham is back, he has joined the

French Revolution. Harry has been busy, Christopher Samba, his �12

million man, Peter Odemwingie has been clouded in controversy today.

Mario is in Milan. Balotelli has confirmed his �90 million move up

from Manchester. Plenty to talk about and plenty to discuss with

Owen Coyle, Robbie Savage and Martin Keown. We also have our team

of reporters, and Ian is beavering away to bring as details as the fax

machine to enter their final hurrah. First, let's bring you up to date

now. I am joined by Harry Redknapp, the QPR manager. How would you

assessed today's business, are you happy going into this last part of

the season? Well, we missed out on one or two we felt we might get in

to get Christopher Samba as a replacement for Ryan Nelsen who

have been outstanding for us. We have replaced one outstanding

centre half with another, and it took a couple of lads on loan from

that when Balotelli signed for Manchester City they knew they had

somebody special. Genuinely, will you two miss him, will the fans

miss him? To a degree. There's been so much written and said about him,

we haven't really seen the player we saw playing for his national

team. That's a shame. Roberto Mancini having signed him, he tried

to create stability for the player but he didn't seem to be able to

cut it. From a performance point of view, he didn't cut it, but the

media will miss him. I think Roberto, he let him down. He gave

him so many chances and kept saying how much he loved him and he's gone.

They bought the player for �22 million. It is a great deal for

Manchester City to get rid of a player who's been causing havoc off

their wage bill. One final one Mike, having worked so hard for the BBC

today. From a chairman and top- level executive at the club, once

transfer deadline day is finished, you do feel a genuine sense of

relief, that you can get on with the rest of the season? No really,

because you are waiting for the game on Saturday to make sure

everybody performs. It is hectic, because the transfer window starts

months in advance. Often there's months of planning that goes into

trying to get a player which at the end of the window can fall through.

That's frustrating.Ning The case of Balotelli that was really planned.

There was that moment on the training ground where he

overstepped the mark and the manager reacted and he probably

felt, enough's enough, let's move it on. And not the fireworks on the

cars. That didn't help. I think there was always a plan in his mind

he would end up back in Milan. It would have been difficult to go

While Fulham haven't had the same attention as their neighbours

Queens Park Rangers, Martin Jol has added a triumvirate himself. Martin
