Hello again from the Scottish Highlands on a windy, testing final

day of this Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open

Championship. So close to the Olympics, there is much talk about

legacy, and today by eight the Moray Firth perhaps the idea of

legacy, following in the golfing pitch marks of the trailblazers of

the past, maybe in the mind of our leading contenders.

Can't Luke Donald become the first Englishman since, well, Luke Donald

to claim this title? And in the process the first title -- golfer

ever to successfully defend the Scottish Open title? How about Phil

Mickelson as the first American winner of this event since 1997?

Alex Noren is doing his bit for the Swedes, six years after his

countryman won at Loch Lomond. And how these crowds would love to

bridge the gap between Colin Montgomerie, the last were for

Scotland in 1999, Peter Whiteford, Marc Warren and Martin Laird all in

the hunt. Memories of Thomas Bjorn's when in

1996 will surely spur on Soren Kjeldsen and Anders Hansen. But our

leader, Francesco Molinari, has his sights on becoming the first

Italian since his brother Edoardo Molinari two years ago to claim the

Scottish title. Over the next few hours, someone is going to create

their own memorable golfing legacy, but the 33 players within five

shots of the lead, who it will be shots of the lead, who it will be

was anyone's guess? The leaderboard is jam-packed with

contenders to all feel they have a chance of cashing the �400,000

cheque. Francesco Molinari is in pole position, as he has been all

We talk about Ultra low scores, but I have mentioned conditions.

Without question, the most challenging of the week. What is

making it tricky today? If it is the heavy showers that

keep coming through, plus the wind is blowing up to 20 mph. For the

early starters it is 3.5 shots more difficult, compared to yesterday.

It will be a tough day for scoring. Anyone breaking par will be pleased.

Do long-term weather forecast is not great, we have to say.

What a score in that case do you think will win this title to a?

Anyone in the clubhouse sitting at 18-under will think they have a

chance. Anyone getting to 20 is an almost walk. Unless the wind dies

down, it has picked up and died down, but the forecast is for it to

get a little stronger. It is a tough, brutal course. Miguel Angel

Jimenez, he was first out this morning, literally run round the

course, in fact he beat the officials into the scorers' Hut. He

Hansen and Francesco Molinari. He has led from the start but will he

by the day's end? We will be following everyone on

the Red Button, but leads a group - - update you with significant

events. Marc Warren knows what it takes to win at home. He is 16-

under, great start at the first from the Scot.

India's Jeev Milka Singh has had an injury season, but got his fourth

birdie in the opening six holes. Marc Warren's dream start continued

in the doldrums. Marc Warren's dream start continued at the second,

seen him going to pole position on his own. With that back-to- back

birdie at the 11th. The putter is working very well but he has been

such a long time. Kjeldsen is his playing partner. Missing a birdie

putt, but if you're wondering how Luke Donald is getting on, two

bodies, out for 37 and every hole they? Treading ground, a treading

water you might say. Vijay Singh at 32, tremendous. And the birdies are

pretty hard to find today. Fairly generous fairways. If you are

playing well, you can find the greens in regulation. It is very

hard to get a genuine birdie opportunity. It is a classic

golfing day -- golfing day for good players. You have to use your

brains and be patient, and accept bad bounces. Anyone can win if you

get the formula right. But they get to overcome with fear and doubt. A

forested plain, Philip? 140 yards today, tight to the left. -- How

Sometimes if you do not get the rights strike, the ball can get

time? Well, you know, it was 17- under would either win it or be in

the play-offs, so it was in my hands, four holes to go it was up

to me. Unfortunately I did not finish off, but it was nice to be

putts on the 16th. Now it is all down to a picture. Well, it is a
