The European Tour takes the high road to the Scottish Highlands for

:00:28.:00:34.

the Aberdeen asset Scottish Open. It is a return to Castle Stuart near

:00:35.:00:42.

Inverness, a course that clings to the coastline. It is the fourth

:00:43.:00:47.

visit in the 44 year history of the event and we have come to a course

:00:48.:00:57.

codesigned by the man responsible for Rio's layout this year. With the

:00:58.:01:02.

Open next year, this event is part one of a fabulous fortnight of links

:01:03.:01:07.

golf. Luke Donald, the winner here five years ago, for him it is an

:01:08.:01:15.

ideal tune up. It always creates a strong field a week before the Open

:01:16.:01:19.

and people want to get the feel of a different kind of turf you

:01:20.:01:24.

experience on the coastline in Scotland. It extracts a good field.

:01:25.:01:32.

A lot the guys from the United States come over and may have make

:01:33.:01:43.

it a fun week. Phil Mickelson created a double three years ago and

:01:44.:01:48.

is one of a number of high profile here from the PGA Tour of America. I

:01:49.:01:55.

love it here. This is my, one of my favourite links courses in the UK,

:01:56.:02:01.

but my favourite place to hold a Scottish Open. I love Inverness. The

:02:02.:02:13.

scores we have seen in the past were hard to come by, wild and windy

:02:14.:02:20.

conditions blew away the chances of more, but not that of Alex Noren who

:02:21.:02:32.

led from Lee and Pepperell. He like Matteo Manassero are chasing one of

:02:33.:02:37.

the four Open places on offer. Further back Scotland's Russell Knox

:02:38.:02:40.

and Martin Kaymer six shots adrift. Top In calmer conditions today row

:02:41.:02:56.

man Wattel has the best of the week's. And here is Kim Tom a Phil

:02:57.:03:02.

Yates. COMMENTATOR: It is relatively benign so far. And that means that

:03:03.:03:10.

in the Highlands many are taking the low road around Castle Stuart.

:03:11.:03:15.

Patrick Reed is in line to represent the USA in Rio and celebrated with a

:03:16.:03:23.

golden round. He is 5-under, playing the closing hole. Last week Martin

:03:24.:03:30.

Kaymer challenged at the French Open and he is looking good again. This

:03:31.:03:41.

was for an eagle on the second. The perfect start to the German's round

:03:42.:03:46.

and he followed up on the third by giving himself a birdie chance. That

:03:47.:03:59.

is 3-under today already. 5-under in total. What about Bradley Dredge?

:04:00.:04:07.

Runner up to Rory McIlroy at the Irish Open in May. He is quick out

:04:08.:04:15.

of the blocks with a birdie on the second and an eagle on the third. So

:04:16.:04:24.

with that, dredge climbs to 6-under and the Welshman now shares fourth,

:04:25.:04:29.

only two off the pace set by Alex Noren. The symbol next to a name,

:04:30.:04:35.

denotes they're included for the Open next week with the time places

:04:36.:04:40.

going to the top four finishers here not yet qualified. So plenty to play

:04:41.:04:47.

for and many subplots and only one thing certain - with just four shots

:04:48.:04:54.

covering the top 20 and a low number available, moving day should live up

:04:55.:05:00.

to its day. Kim Thomas, this could be some afternoon? Yes first hole

:05:01.:05:08.

second shot for the 24 from Oxfordshire, Tyrell Hatton. This

:05:09.:05:11.

hole playing easier in the third round. The first two rounds the wind

:05:12.:05:17.

has been straight into the players' faces. Hatton nestling it close.

:05:18.:05:24.

Great start. Four off the pace at the start of the day. Looks like

:05:25.:05:30.

getting a birdie on the first. Andy Sullivan par the first. Second to

:05:31.:05:39.

the par-5 second. Easily reachable with this wind direction. Oh, that

:05:40.:05:46.

is a cracker for the man not just chasing this title, but also Ryder

:05:47.:05:58.

Cup points. It is getting nearer and nearer to that Hazel teen date. A

:05:59.:06:10.

great start. Nowhere else. The forecast for this afternoon isn't so

:06:11.:06:14.

clever. So I think it is a case of making hay while the sun almost

:06:15.:06:16.

shines! No eagle for Sullivan. But pretty

:06:17.:06:34.

much a gimme birdie. Coming to the end of his third round, Patrick Reed

:06:35.:06:49.

A round of 67 for minus 4. Sullivan did tidy up for his birdie on the

:06:50.:06:59.

second. Strides to the third tee and there is a sporty hole, tee board

:07:00.:07:05.

forward, it is playing 286 yards. So reachable. Going down wind off the

:07:06.:07:14.

westerly edge of this course at Castle Stuart. Here for the fourth

:07:15.:07:20.

time in this Aberdeen asset Scottish Open. Eagle chance to come.

:07:21.:07:28.

From one eagle chance to another. Tyrell Hatton loves this Scottish

:07:29.:07:43.

Open. Two years ago he was tied fourth. Then as a rookie pro on the

:07:44.:07:46.

European Tour. The water's pretty still on the

:07:47.:08:01.

Moray Firth and we see Mickelson. The saw grip he is using these days

:08:02.:08:04.

on the putter. Thought he had it. What a presence though in any

:08:05.:08:27.

tournament he plays. A real affinity with links golf, the 2013 Open

:08:28.:08:31.

champion. Loves this part of the world.

:08:32.:08:40.

Sullivan for the eagle on the 3rd. Great tee shot. Gets his just

:08:41.:08:52.

deserts. His caddy, big Sean there, coming in, saying, well done, mate.

:08:53.:08:54.

What a start! Ritchie Ramsey, a couple of weeks

:08:55.:09:14.

ago won a car worth 170,000 euro in Germany. I tell you what, inches

:09:15.:09:17.

away from a hole-in-one on a par-4! Hatton normally very good on these

:09:18.:09:33.

six-footers. For 8-under. Oh he is running hot. Is Tyrell Hatton.

:09:34.:09:46.

A real good look back at this simply striking course. But not a striking

:09:47.:09:53.

tee shot from Eddie Pepperell. The drive not the way you want to

:09:54.:10:07.

start your day, but a really good recovery.

:10:08.:10:11.

Eddie from Oxfordshire. A couple of Oxford lads doing well. Manassero,

:10:12.:10:25.

second to the opening hole. His play has improved so much of late. I

:10:26.:10:31.

can't believe he is 596th on the world rankings. He missed the cut at

:10:32.:10:40.

the Open in Spain. He was 893rd. With his talent that is ludicrous.

:10:41.:10:45.

Sullivan, tester for par. Test not passed. He slips back to minus 6. I

:10:46.:10:54.

have done that before and hit my ankle! Ouch!

:10:55.:11:01.

As it was when he took 7 at the golf National last week in the final

:11:02.:11:11.

round simply burned Ryder Cup points as a result of that triple bogey. He

:11:12.:11:15.

is right in this still. There is plenty of time left. This is the No

:11:16.:11:22.

1 on the challenge Tour from last year. Gouveia, the man from

:11:23.:11:29.

Portugal. 86 on the race to Dubai. One more result from him and he will

:11:30.:11:33.

get his card for next season. He moves to 7-under. At the 7th. Just

:11:34.:11:38.

one off the lead. Overnight leader, Noren, with the

:11:39.:11:56.

big stick on the first. They all say shot. I don't want to be a harbinger

:11:57.:12:03.

of doom, but in terms of half way leaders in this tournament, the last

:12:04.:12:08.

one to lift the trophy was Gregory Havret back in 2007.

:12:09.:12:15.

Self-confessed practice junkie is Alex Noren. There is the

:12:16.:12:23.

leaderboard, an indication of how tight things have become with

:12:24.:12:29.

Hatton, Pepperell, after a birdie on the first, joining Noren at the top.

:12:30.:12:33.

Look at that - only two shots separating the top eleven players.

:12:34.:12:43.

Danny Lee, the 25-year-old, Korean born New Zealander, the ball below

:12:44.:12:49.

his feet. After a good drive. Can he get it close? There is your answer -

:12:50.:12:53.

straight at it. Perfect line, perfect angle of

:12:54.:13:18.

attack for Noren. Always applies lots of spin to the ball. On these

:13:19.:13:24.

receptive greens for a links course, he has been prospering.

:13:25.:13:32.

Hatton, another birdie chance. Oh, just overcooked it. But the right

:13:33.:13:42.

side of the hole. 4-under after three holes today.

:13:43.:13:46.

Here is a man who played one of great links round in Scotland at the

:13:47.:13:56.

2012 Championship, Branden Grace. A round of 60 it was. Has to be

:13:57.:14:03.

regarded as one of the favourites. And now only two back. A big

:14:04.:14:07.

occasion player. He certainly is. I remember talking to him after that

:14:08.:14:10.

round and he said he left a couple of shots out there. Amazing. Lee for

:14:11.:14:19.

the perfect start. No. ? Just a misread. Good pace.

:14:20.:14:30.

Noren has briefly been caught at the top. And doesn't break the tie. Only

:14:31.:14:42.

a par. No doubt a source of frustration. Great opportunity that.

:14:43.:14:54.

Tried to emulate Parnevik, as a Swedish winner of the Scottish Open.

:14:55.:15:03.

Padraig Harrington has had a good start. Here is his tee shot on the

:15:04.:15:09.

4th. Delightful par-4 with Castle Stuart in the background. Oh, great

:15:10.:15:11.

effort. All of world's great course

:15:12.:15:31.

designers agree every great venue should have at least one drivable

:15:32.:15:40.

par-4. The third very much drivable with something less than a driver.

:15:41.:15:46.

Branden Grace there. The wind starting to get up a little now.

:15:47.:15:54.

Some inClement weather forecast for later in the day. There is a great

:15:55.:16:07.

view. It is a splendid venue this. And a splendid approach in Matteo

:16:08.:16:14.

Manassero. In the doldrums it would appear no more. Hard to believe this

:16:15.:16:18.

place is only seven years old, the course that is. Harrington for

:16:19.:16:29.

7-under. Oh, pick it out! He and McDowell and several others very

:16:30.:16:32.

good poor weather players. He won't mind if the wind gets up a bit.

:16:33.:16:38.

Eddie Pepperell birdie on the first from an unlikely location on the

:16:39.:16:48.

tee. And at the ridge there from the fringe, really well judged.

:16:49.:16:52.

First good birdie chance on the course, down wind on the the second.

:16:53.:17:03.

Noren. 554 yards. Second easiest on the course statistically. So far in

:17:04.:17:12.

Round 3. He greens it with the iron. Avoiding sand city on the right.

:17:13.:17:22.

Back on the 3rd green a man who won by the sea across the Atlantic at

:17:23.:17:31.

the Heritage Tour nament on the PGA Tour this year. Branden Grace.

:17:32.:17:38.

Putting the cat among the pigeons with an eagle. He triumphed on the

:17:39.:17:45.

scores in April. What about the shores of the Moray Firth in July?

:17:46.:17:51.

Naren. Pace put this one. Up and over the rise in the middle of the

:17:52.:18:04.

greens. Slow down. Hmm. Misjudgment there from the Swede. Four wins on

:18:05.:18:08.

the European Tour already. We have seen that putt already from

:18:09.:18:25.

Eddie Pepperell. Not just a good job by Danny Lee. Branden Grace on the

:18:26.:18:36.

par-4. Pin-seeking again. Straight at it.

:18:37.:18:46.

Noren, two putt birdie on the par-5. Smooth it in? Yes. He moves smoothly

:18:47.:18:56.

to minus 9. Looking strong. The unconventional, but effective

:18:57.:19:17.

putting stroke of Branden Grace. Only a par.

:19:18.:19:27.

There it is, Pepperell, Noren lead by a single stroke from Hatton,

:19:28.:19:33.

Grace and Manassero. It really is tight. A series of players fancying

:19:34.:19:42.

their chances. Now on the fourth green Noren faces an unlikely putt

:19:43.:19:47.

to regain sole possession of the lead.

:19:48.:19:52.

Par for Noren on the 3rd. So here on the 4th a chance. Oh! He was good

:19:53.:19:59.

for line. If only he had hit it. The tap in should be simple enough

:20:00.:20:08.

for the par. Stays 9-under. Tyrell Hatton tried to keep a bogey

:20:09.:20:21.

off his card. Gets very annoyed with himself. Not

:20:22.:20:41.

so bad as he was a couple of years back, but always sense there a

:20:42.:20:48.

volcano waiting to erupt. But keeping his emotions under wraps

:20:49.:20:50.

more than when he first joined the Tour. Branden Grace, well

:20:51.:20:59.

positioned, on the left-hand side of the sixth fairway. Front pin never

:21:00.:21:09.

easy. Just a bit unlucky to run quite that far past on the sixth.

:21:10.:21:17.

Par-5, 568 yards. What a round from Andy Sullivan. Birdie on the second,

:21:18.:21:24.

eagles on the third and fifth. Two dropped shots as well. He fes robbed

:21:25.:21:35.

there. It could have been a birdie on 9.

:21:36.:21:39.

Unlucky with the run through with the approach for Grace, can he get

:21:40.:21:45.

the eagle? That would be a no then. Mis-read. A couple of feet left.

:21:46.:21:53.

I will putt, I will putt, I will mark! A few spots of rain now

:21:54.:21:59.

appearing in the skies. All the modern day professionals are

:22:00.:22:17.

so proficient from sand. Alex Noren on 5th, not letting me down.

:22:18.:22:30.

Grace for the birdie and 9-under. Very comfortable indeed. Finding

:22:31.:22:36.

that par-5 in 2. We talked about Manassero plummeting

:22:37.:22:50.

down the rankings, one of reasons - he tried to achieve more length off

:22:51.:22:55.

the tee. The technical issue became a confidence problem, but reaching

:22:56.:23:00.

the 6th in a couple of shots is no problem today.

:23:01.:23:05.

So nearly the appearance of an albatross! Fantastic!

:23:06.:23:16.

Canizares on six under playing the 8th. The Spaniard. Beautiful read

:23:17.:23:29.

and execution. With some support in the crowd.

:23:30.:23:40.

That is what they call a bounce back. A birdie on 8 and on 9, out in

:23:41.:24:00.

32. He is a feisty character. I tipped him earlier this season to

:24:01.:24:08.

win soon. It could be this week. Manassero, eagle chance on the 6th

:24:09.:24:12.

as the rain patters down more heavily. He doesn't feel a thing.

:24:13.:24:18.

Eagle 3, 10-under. Look out the rest. And playing like this, hard to

:24:19.:24:24.

comprehend from the Irish Open last year, he missed 16 consecutive cuts.

:24:25.:24:37.

To Branden Grace, claw grip employed by Branden. Par put president is

:24:38.:24:48.

missed. -- Par putt is missed. He lets one slip. Now the most fearsome

:24:49.:24:58.

hole on the course today is the 7th. 464 yards into the wind. Pepperell

:24:59.:25:05.

in the rough off the tee. That's gone straight right. Oh, please.

:25:06.:25:12.

There is some gorse and all sorts of stuff. It can really hurt you. In

:25:13.:25:19.

more ways than one. Good luck, Eddie.

:25:20.:25:25.

Gouveia with that languid takeaway. Second to 13. Very nice indeed. He

:25:26.:25:36.

played some wonderful stuff on the challenge Tour last year. People are

:25:37.:25:38.

expecting big things of him. Eddie Pepperell found his ball and

:25:39.:25:49.

hacked it out to here. Fourth shot on the par-4 seventh. A blind shot

:25:50.:25:55.

too. Never easy. Nice effort. That for a bogey 5.

:25:56.:26:04.

Back to Gouveia out in 33. Birdied 12. Just a slight push on 13. Has to

:26:05.:26:18.

settle for a par. Quite a level-headed sort it seems

:26:19.:26:41.

to me. Yes, he is solid. Manassero will not want to leak one here. Get

:26:42.:26:48.

going! Pulls up on the damp surface. The first bogey on the toughest hole

:26:49.:26:51.

on the course, the 7th. With this wind direction from the

:26:52.:27:04.

east, the entire characteristics of course have changed. Not the brute

:27:05.:27:11.

it was on Thursday when the average score was 75.3 and we saw a host of

:27:12.:27:19.

double-bogeys. And Pepperell is in danger of one here. The second shot

:27:20.:27:23.

was the dreaded shank. He leaves it short as well. Disappointing.

:27:24.:27:34.

Double-bogey 6. A score that hurts even more when he knows that people

:27:35.:27:40.

around him are making birdies and eagles and going forward. So

:27:41.:27:46.

Manassero leads at 9-under. Just about to approach the turn. And five

:27:47.:27:54.

players just one shot adrift. All the guys on 5-under par, including

:27:55.:28:05.

Henrik Stenson and Russell Knox and Ritchie Ramsey are in contention.

:28:06.:28:13.

Quite a leaderboard and a world leader in beauty is Scotland itself.

:28:14.:28:19.

This is the land of castle. One being Castle Stuart, completed in

:28:20.:28:23.

1625 by James Stuart, the third earl of Moray. It is a place for those

:28:24.:28:32.

who revel in history, for those who rejoice in splendour and appreciate

:28:33.:28:34.

the home of golf. COMMENTATOR: Beautiful pictures, the

:28:35.:28:46.

rain getting heavier now is the day progresses. Manassero, par on the

:28:47.:28:58.

eighth, tough par-3. Very good, right over the stick.

:28:59.:29:07.

Playing 222 yards today, the eighth is no bargain as Alex Noren has

:29:08.:29:19.

found out. As they say over the pond, there is chicken on that born.

:29:20.:29:28.

Graeme McDowell, needs to get going. Out in 37, 1-over par, got par on

:29:29.:29:33.

the 10th. He does get going at the 11th. In there for a birdie two.

:29:34.:29:47.

Brought up on links golf at Portrush.

:29:48.:29:53.

Danny Lee. Lovely. Well saved. He was the youngest ever winner on the

:29:54.:30:04.

European Tour when he prevailed in the 2009 Johnnie Walker classic as

:30:05.:30:12.

an amateur. Back to the overnight leader, Alex Noren. Very simple

:30:13.:30:22.

putting action. In four the par-3. Steadies the ship. The last time we

:30:23.:30:29.

saw Andy Sullivan, he missed a birdie putt on nine, reached the

:30:30.:30:36.

turn on 33 and since then, birdie on 11, now dropped shots.

:30:37.:30:42.

No dropped shots. Very near. He will tap in for par. Birdie chance for

:30:43.:30:56.

Manassero. Ninth holed, playing fifth hardest. On the first half of

:30:57.:31:06.

the Star ground. -- third round. More pace and it would have held its

:31:07.:31:13.

line. Very good four on that hole today. Just an iron off the tee for

:31:14.:31:19.

Branden Grace but then went left and right, over the green into the

:31:20.:31:26.

hazard, that is his fourth shot, has two hole that to avoid a double

:31:27.:31:32.

bogey. Alex Noren, he will get some spin. Gets across the ball, gets

:31:33.:31:39.

lots of zip on it. Can he get the judgment of the distance right? Past

:31:40.:31:45.

the pin and screw it back. How about that? Just what the doctor ordered.

:31:46.:32:01.

Chance to go level with Manassero. If Branden Grace can hole this, it

:32:02.:32:07.

will feel like a birdie. Now it feels like a crushing blow. The

:32:08.:32:13.

worst way to start the back nine. Double bogey. At the 10th, spot of

:32:14.:32:21.

bother for Manassero. Not reaching the green with his second. On the

:32:22.:32:27.

par-4 and she is still struggling for par now. These skies are

:32:28.:32:35.

darkening, looks like we are in for a sustained spell of rain.

:32:36.:32:42.

Good few of the putt of Alex Noren. No bother. Or is it nae bother up

:32:43.:32:59.

here? It was birdies and eagles for fun before, but now it is going

:33:00.:33:07.

quiet. If this doesn't go in... He has left it short again. Two bogeys

:33:08.:33:20.

in the last four holes. Hasn't been a of the leaderboard for quite a

:33:21.:33:25.

while, so nerves might be kicking in, who knows? Grace, very

:33:26.:33:29.

experienced, practically the disappointment of the previous hole

:33:30.:33:35.

in the back of his mind. -- trying to put the disappointment. It is

:33:36.:33:43.

only par on 11. One birdie and eight pars so far for Danny Lee. Staring

:33:44.:33:51.

down his second shot on the 10th four double great view up towards

:33:52.:34:10.

the first Nice touch. Recently Graeme McDowell has made a birdie

:34:11.:34:17.

two here. Shorter two on the course, playing just 141 yards today, the

:34:18.:34:22.

11th. Maybe Manassero will match McDowell's feet.

:34:23.:34:30.

Breeze just on the edge of the coastline. Big divot, holding it up

:34:31.:34:48.

into the breeze, beautiful. And the word beautiful applies to the round

:34:49.:34:53.

today of the South African Justin Walters, needing two putts from here

:34:54.:34:59.

for a birdie to come home in 32 for a bogey free round of 65. Given it a

:35:00.:35:06.

good old-fashioned tonk. Absolutely tremendous. The man who had to

:35:07.:35:14.

return to Q-School in Spain at the end of last season to regain his

:35:15.:35:19.

card. Now vying for a place in the Open.

:35:20.:35:25.

Danny Lee, nice pace on the parting store, looking for a borrow, it

:35:26.:35:29.

wasn't there. Well accustomed to the vagaries of

:35:30.:35:53.

links golf, Manassero, broke through to prominence at Formby in Birkdale

:35:54.:36:02.

in 2009 when he won the Amateur Championship. For back-to-back

:36:03.:36:10.

birdies around the turn, Alex Noren. Exquisite, played the hole

:36:11.:36:13.

perfectly. Particularly in those conditions. Leads by one. Come on,

:36:14.:36:26.

just in. Persuade this one in. -- Justin. 65 around here any time is

:36:27.:36:37.

laudable, 65 today, fantastic. Best round of the week so far. And with

:36:38.:36:45.

that, Walters leads in the clubhouse but on the course, out in front it

:36:46.:36:53.

is Alex Noren. The standard of this man you'd involve striking over the

:36:54.:36:59.

first two Rohan Ince was excellent. Fourth in driving accuracy, fifth in

:37:00.:37:06.

greens in regulation. He is a shotmaker. He is. Time to avoid the

:37:07.:37:13.

bunker on them the right hand side and he does very well indeed. The

:37:14.:37:20.

par-3 is very short, the water looks close to the green on the left-hand

:37:21.:37:32.

side. -- lurks. Two pars so far on this hole for Danny Lee.

:37:33.:37:41.

Just lovely, 3-1 the US Amateur Championship in 2008. He beat the

:37:42.:37:51.

course record that year, beating a certain Tiger Woods's record.

:37:52.:37:58.

The players have to strike the ball a bit harder than they have been so

:37:59.:38:05.

far on these pure greens. Getting damp now. Chance missed there. Grace

:38:06.:38:11.

stays 6-under. Maybe just the slowing of that pace

:38:12.:38:29.

caught Alex Noren out there. Tapping par, stress-free. Kathy is working

:38:30.:38:36.

hard here, protecting their players, they can shelter under the umbrella

:38:37.:38:41.

as they prepare for the putt, but not when they are striking the ball.

:38:42.:38:47.

Lee, it looks very straightforward. The right hand on the putting grip,

:38:48.:38:53.

almost down to the metal. This is for 9-under. Where else? He is

:38:54.:38:59.

donating $500 for every birdie this week to the flood relief fund in

:39:00.:39:05.

West Virginia. $1000 for an eagle. Very generous and a really good

:39:06.:39:14.

cause. The 12 hole, snaky par-5, third shot for Manassero. Very well

:39:15.:39:22.

judged, that is a brave shot, write at least they can, can see the

:39:23.:39:27.

problem left again, he is not afraid.

:39:28.:39:37.

599 yards, the 12th. Today it is a proper par-5 and oh dear, it has

:39:38.:39:49.

left us. It is not out of bounds, it is a hazard, he will be dropping out

:39:50.:39:52.

of play and taking a penalty shot. No need to reload, it is a hazard,

:39:53.:40:00.

not out of bounds. Looks exasperated, Manassero but

:40:01.:40:25.

must be absolutely overjoyed to be back in the limelight because he has

:40:26.:40:32.

been very much in the wilderness. An exemption after winning the BMW

:40:33.:40:37.

Championship three years ago, five-year exemption. Danny Lee on

:40:38.:40:47.

the par-5, 12th, can he judge it? Stop. Fine shot. Four Alex Noren it

:40:48.:41:02.

is about damage limitation. He took his drop and is now playing his

:41:03.:41:04.

fifth shot. Under normal circumstances,

:41:05.:41:14.

professionals hate to make a six on eight par-5, Alex Noren will be

:41:15.:41:26.

overwhelmingly relieved. Has got six pars in a row from the seventh. He

:41:27.:41:32.

is now 2-under for the round and 7-under for the Championship. Kicks

:41:33.:41:37.

the habit. The red figure is very welcomed. Danny Lee to move double

:41:38.:41:57.

digits onto the card. You better believe it. Trying to maintain the

:41:58.:42:05.

great history of New Zealand success in links golf. Simon Owens won the

:42:06.:42:10.

Open jabber chip at Saint Andrews in 1978. -- The Open Championship. This

:42:11.:42:25.

for the bogey for Noren. He goes back to 9-under, double hat on a

:42:26.:42:28.

par-5, a bogey. -- double hurt. The weather closing in rather no.

:42:29.:43:08.

McDowell comments off a birdie at 14, the tough 15th, fourth hardest

:43:09.:43:15.

on the course, can he came it? It is moving, it is in. Fantastic birdie.

:43:16.:43:25.

When the going gets tough, you can often bank on this man. Manassero,

:43:26.:43:40.

386 yard par-4. Keep has avoided the right-hand side. Perfect drive, very

:43:41.:43:44.

good second. Birdie chance. Caught a lot about Open places being

:43:45.:43:56.

up for grabs at this tournament. Tyrell Hatton has qualified for the

:43:57.:44:02.

Open four times since 2010 and I tell you what, he is bang on course

:44:03.:44:11.

to make that five times. 9-under, the really bunching at the top. The

:44:12.:44:15.

bad weather has rather concertino this leaderboard. Manassero, he is a

:44:16.:44:22.

putting machine. Little nudge of a stroke. And nudges it in.

:44:23.:44:37.

Even George Formby could not have said it has timed out nicely today.

:44:38.:44:47.

I know what you mean. Danny Lee for the par. No Danny. That was a bit

:44:48.:44:55.

whiffy, that stroke, didn't really commit to it and you have to do in

:44:56.:44:59.

these conditions. Bogeyed time, back to minus nine.

:45:00.:45:09.

That is the way it stands. 9-under as a common score and it is tied at

:45:10.:45:19.

the top, five of them. Longest hole on the golf course is the last hole,

:45:20.:45:26.

easier prospect on day three then it has been in the first couple of

:45:27.:45:34.

rounds. Hatton, can he find the raised green or is it in the rough

:45:35.:45:39.

stuff? What about that, Green bit in one. A very different animal to what

:45:40.:45:49.

it was on Thursday. He host of double bogeys or worse on Thursday.

:45:50.:45:56.

Tight pin placement, just over a little mound guarding the front of

:45:57.:46:03.

the green. He has found it, Alex Noren.

:46:04.:46:14.

Graeme McDowell for three birdies in succession.

:46:15.:46:24.

He likes a birdie on the 16th, does Graham. A birdie at Celtic Manor in

:46:25.:46:36.

2013 effectively sealed the Ryder Cup. What a great last day that was.

:46:37.:46:44.

Hatton, very good eagle chance, to the upper level. Keep going. That of

:46:45.:46:51.

work left for the birdie. Is that a smile or a wince? It will be a smile

:46:52.:46:56.

if Alex Noren holes this on 14. Standing firm. Up ahead on 15. This

:46:57.:47:22.

is slightly awkward, got to get the pace and the flight right. Looking

:47:23.:47:28.

good. It is looking better than good! Fantastic chip in birdie. He

:47:29.:47:37.

is full of self belief. His short game is right up there with the very

:47:38.:47:44.

best. If you can go on to the European Tour when you are 17 years

:47:45.:47:48.

of age, like he did, you are something special. It started a

:47:49.:47:55.

trend, he has won three times since. Hatton for a good birdie finish.

:47:56.:48:02.

Excellent Thursday. 66 it is for the 24-year-old Englishman. He is right

:48:03.:48:05.

in the mix. Often described as a winner in

:48:06.:48:16.

waiting, the weight might be around 24 hours. Alex Noren was 1-under par

:48:17.:48:25.

for the last four holes for this golf course. That is impressive.

:48:26.:48:32.

That is pretty impressive too, nice control. The long par-4. From the

:48:33.:48:50.

right-hand rough just chopped into it great imagination and execution.

:48:51.:49:01.

McDowell made a hat-trick of birdies on 14, 15 and 16 and Manassero has

:49:02.:49:05.

the opportunity to do exactly the same.

:49:06.:49:09.

McDowell so tough to make the right contact. From that their lie. If he

:49:10.:49:46.

holes that, he is home in 31. Amazing. That grass is really short,

:49:47.:49:53.

like most greens on some golf courses. That par, as important as

:49:54.:50:03.

any birdie. Remains at 9-under, right in the hunt.

:50:04.:50:14.

Well holed. Those kind of putts when you are in contention are

:50:15.:50:25.

bread-and-butter. The wind has dropped now. The rain is not really

:50:26.:50:35.

going away. Manassero for a birdie on 16. Does he like it? He does now.

:50:36.:50:44.

That ball likes the dark, doesn't it? Down it goes. And up Manassero

:50:45.:50:53.

goes into the lead on his own. Upon the 18th, Graeme McDowell has missed

:50:54.:50:58.

his birdie putt. He tidies up with this one. It is in for a 69. Back

:50:59.:51:05.

nine of 32, great golf in the conditions. The way she started

:51:06.:51:15.

suggested it might be a lengthy and not exactly fruitful day. -- the way

:51:16.:51:17.

she brisk swing on 16. Late spin but not

:51:18.:51:39.

a lot of it. Up ahead on the 17th. Excellent par-3 at Castle Stuart,

:51:40.:51:43.

Manassero, Longridge birdie attempt. That is a bit slow. Keep going. It

:51:44.:51:51.

was downhill, but he gave that one too much respect. One hole back.

:51:52.:52:07.

Noren unable to be given a share of the lead. Should have done enough to

:52:08.:52:20.

make a par. Making hard work of this and it is nowhere near. Two bad

:52:21.:52:25.

putts in a row from this man, don't see too often. It has been one of

:52:26.:52:29.

those days, just when you think somebody might take the tournament

:52:30.:52:32.

by the scruff of the neck, they can't pull away. Tyrell Hatton, the

:52:33.:52:40.

Kop as leader with a round of 66 is the jointly do with Manassero and

:52:41.:52:44.

this man, Alex Noren. -- the joint leader. Tackling the 17th. Good bit

:52:45.:53:00.

of flow to that swing. Takes cover and that is why he likes it so much,

:53:01.:53:04.

what an effort that there is, one of the shots of the day for me. He has

:53:05.:53:11.

won the Nordea Masters in his native Sweden a couple of times and

:53:12.:53:14.

conditions, probably not a problem for him, this deluge. Danny Lee's

:53:15.:53:22.

turn, holding the polls, never a bad sign. --

:53:23.:53:30.

didn't wanted to run quite so far past.

:53:31.:53:37.

Who would have thought this? Branden Grace has this putt to avoid coming

:53:38.:53:42.

home in 40. Double bogey at the 10th, bogey at

:53:43.:54:01.

the 14th, 15th. Round of 74, as miserable as the weather. Not good

:54:02.:54:06.

reading for Grace fans. Alex Noren in the foreground as

:54:07.:54:26.

Danny Lee goes for his birdie. Just did not want to fall in. He will

:54:27.:54:39.

remain -9 with a tap in. Like grip on the right hand. Hardly on the

:54:40.:54:48.

club itself. -- like grip. Throughout the round we have seen so

:54:49.:54:53.

many examples of Matthew Manassero's shot game wizardry, can he finish

:54:54.:54:58.

off with one? -- short game wizardry. Phil Mickelson played an

:54:59.:55:09.

exquisite shot when he won year. It won him the play-off against Branden

:55:10.:55:14.

Grace and 2013. Manassero cannot win today but he is in a very good

:55:15.:55:15.

position. Looks easy enough, couple of feet,

:55:16.:55:25.

but as you can see from our camera, fighting against the conditions

:55:26.:55:29.

here, the wind is strengthening, nothing is easy. Alex Noren for

:55:30.:55:40.

birdie. Fantastic wordy two. Bat birdie two.

:55:41.:55:48.

In rugby terms, that was definitely one against the head. Manassero's

:55:49.:56:05.

birdie putt on the last. Dear, that is not a stroke that will send him

:56:06.:56:11.

to bed feeling good. Three putts on 17. Poor attempt to that finish.

:56:12.:56:17.

Amazing stuff. One of the best putters out there. Good school,

:56:18.:56:27.

though, 68, he will be happy with that overall. Danny Lee, 289 yards

:56:28.:56:36.

to the hole, surprisingly taking driver of the tee. What a challenge

:56:37.:56:42.

this is, anything right and it is Z minus. Not sure what he's going to

:56:43.:56:53.

find there. Just short, could be OK. A more positive choice of tee shot

:56:54.:56:59.

for Alex Noren, can reach this green with an iron. One of the benefits.

:57:00.:57:07.

Good clearance of the hips, full release, shouting at it to go and

:57:08.:57:12.

that is why, another five yards and it was near-perfect. And that is

:57:13.:57:18.

going to be quite a tight line down at the Dell. If Alex Noren can get

:57:19.:57:24.

up and down from their, he will lead by two overnight.

:57:25.:57:29.

We's third shot got him here. -- Danny Lee's third shot. Chance of a

:57:30.:57:43.

last gasp birdie. Not that bad try but he will settle for a par on the

:57:44.:57:56.

close. Round of 70, still right in it. As are so many. Tomorrow

:57:57.:58:08.

promises much. All about whether Noren can get that extra cushion

:58:09.:58:09.

now. What a finish! Weather? What

:58:10.:58:28.

weather! He is made of stern stuff this man, he could be very tough to

:58:29.:58:36.

catch. A fighting finish from Alex Noren with back-to-back birdies and

:58:37.:58:41.

the Swede extends his advantage to two shots, but 21 men in seven shots

:58:42.:58:46.

of his lead going into the second round. A day that promises to be

:58:47.:58:54.

full of possibilities. Since 1972 the Scottish Open has been played

:58:55.:58:58.

for at nine different courses across the country and 2011 was the first

:58:59.:59:07.

visit to Castle Stuart. Now we are back for the fourth occasion for

:59:08.:59:11.

these special links on the shores of Moray Firth. Today, the big field's

:59:12.:59:18.

focus was not on the local sights, but a winner's cheque for 550,000

:59:19.:59:24.

and one of possible four places up for grabs in next week's Open at

:59:25.:59:29.

royal Troon. The event has been supported by golf lovers in the

:59:30.:59:36.

Highlands who have come from Inverness, Loch Ness and further

:59:37.:59:40.

north. Some accomplished players have added this. 2008 was Graeme

:59:41.:59:49.

McDowell's year and he has become a Major winner as has Martin Kaymer

:59:50.:59:54.

seven years ago. Both are in the hunt again. Luke Donald is fuelled

:59:55.:00:04.

by memories of 2011 and Phil Mickelson's victory in 2013

:00:05.:00:07.

underscored the value of the event in the build up to the Open. Five of

:00:08.:00:12.

the last six Open winners have played here first. Former US Open

:00:13.:00:25.

champion Justin Rose scored his first win in Scotland at Royal

:00:26.:00:34.

Aberdeen in 2014. And 12 months ago in Gullane Rickie Fowler became the

:00:35.:00:39.

latest member to master his skills ahead of the Open. Many others have

:00:40.:00:47.

followed his lead this year. But going into the final round on Sunday

:00:48.:00:54.

it was a Swede, four-time European Tao winner Alex Noren who was two

:00:55.:01:01.

shots clear. On his tail Hatton and Manassero. But with 21 players

:01:02.:01:07.

within seven shots of Swede's lead, including England's Andy Sullivan

:01:08.:01:14.

and former champion Graeme McDowell, the brollies were up on a day that

:01:15.:01:25.

promised to be dramatic. . So much to play for on so many levels. For

:01:26.:01:31.

so many battling to leave the shores with a feel good factor before the

:01:32.:01:37.

year's third Major. The sun isn't exactly shimmering on the water

:01:38.:01:42.

today. Not like Californian weather, but that didn't stop Phil Mickelson

:01:43.:01:46.

feeling at home. This birdie at the 16th carrying him to 6-under for the

:01:47.:02:00.

day. Big Phil parred the penultimate hole and had 65.

:02:01.:02:10.

Bogey-free it has been quite a round from Mickelson, who now journeys to

:02:11.:02:19.

Troon with his links game sharply honed and confidence boosted. Here

:02:20.:02:24.

Mickelson leads in the club house on 7-under. The same mark as Henrik

:02:25.:02:38.

Sten Sen. Still a Gad from Stenson to Noren. Mikelson is not the only

:02:39.:02:46.

American to impress with Stricker getting 67 and Ritchie Ramsey. With

:02:47.:03:07.

me Kim Thomas and many people look to Graeme McDown as a potential

:03:08.:03:15.

winner. -- Graeme McDowell. Yes, can he get going today? An inviting pin

:03:16.:03:23.

position. Central on the green. That is an excellent approach. Five and

:03:24.:03:31.

half, six feet for birdie. From one Ryder Cup fixture in recent times to

:03:32.:03:38.

another. Henrik Stenson, looking for his third birdie already of the day.

:03:39.:03:46.

He won a couple of weeks ago at the BMW International Open in Germany. I

:03:47.:03:55.

think he is quietly confident about Troon next week. Toughest hole on

:03:56.:04:00.

the course today, the first. Because the wind has switched around again.

:04:01.:04:04.

You wouldn't think so with Graeme McDowell there birdying it for

:04:05.:04:07.

9-under. Three behind Noren. Game on!

:04:08.:04:16.

Is in is Ritchie Ramsay from distance on the fourth. Go on! Just

:04:17.:04:33.

great stuff from Ritchie Ramsay. That is a real bonus birdie. When

:04:34.:04:38.

you're knocking that kind of one in, you think will it be my day? Yes,

:04:39.:04:43.

the sap is rising. The fans loving it. Right, I'm so looking forward to

:04:44.:04:48.

this afternoon's play. Hopefully the weather will play fair as well as

:04:49.:04:53.

Lee knocks his par putt in. Well saved. Stays 9-under. Danny Lee.

:04:54.:05:01.

Big course this Castle Stuart. It is about finding the right part of

:05:02.:05:09.

fairway to go at the pin. McDowell third on the par-5 2nd hole. Looking

:05:10.:05:14.

down the green. Again fairly inviting. The lie is OK. Oh just

:05:15.:05:22.

pulled up a little too soon for his liking from that semi rough. Another

:05:23.:05:29.

birdie chance though. We saw a fantastic round of 65 from Justin

:05:30.:05:34.

Walter yesterday. How he would love to replicate that 24 hours on.

:05:35.:05:47.

Just the kind of nerve-settler he was looking for. The rain easing off

:05:48.:05:57.

slightly now. Now, this hole, Graeme McDowell will feel owes him

:05:58.:06:01.

something. This for the birdie 4. Get in! No! Not often he plays four

:06:02.:06:10.

par-5s in one over, but he has done this week. Stays minus 9.

:06:11.:06:22.

Alex Noren driver of the first. As Kim said, a very different

:06:23.:06:28.

proposition this hole today than to yesterday. 439 yards into the

:06:29.:06:35.

breeze. Only a light breeze today thankfully. He spanked that one down

:06:36.:06:38.

the left-hand side. That is fine. As the rain begins to fall harder,

:06:39.:07:02.

Walters for birdie. The most galling kind of putt you can have.

:07:03.:07:06.

Absolutely in the jaws, but just short.

:07:07.:07:17.

Third green. Martin Kaymer. 6-under par, this to go to 7-under. Try to

:07:18.:07:29.

make a charge early doors and he got it! Former US Open champion.

:07:30.:07:33.

Desperate to get back in the hunt. While Noren has found the fairway,

:07:34.:07:48.

not so for Tyrell Hatton. Fact he he has been fortunate with this lie and

:07:49.:07:50.

not the worst angle of attack. Pleading with the ball to go and I

:07:51.:08:03.

think it partially listened! Under the brolly. And back on the fairway.

:08:04.:08:12.

155 yards left for Noren. The ball will travel left to right. Through

:08:13.:08:23.

the air. Stay down. Hit through. He hung it up and down. Oh, straight at

:08:24.:08:30.

it. Very good shot. Oh, unlucky, he gets so much spin does Alex.

:08:31.:08:32.

Sometimes it costs him. Noren's place in the Open next week

:08:33.:08:47.

is under wraps. Not so Ritchie Ramsay.

:08:48.:08:54.

That is really good. A golden chance to make it a hat trick of birdies.

:08:55.:09:03.

3, 4, how about 5? Hatton on the first. Big swing from left to right.

:09:04.:09:08.

A couple of feet I would say. For the birdie. Crisp putting action,

:09:09.:09:16.

just like his swing really. Not quite enough steam on that one.

:09:17.:09:22.

Should tap in to remain minus 10. Does so.

:09:23.:09:31.

I can tell you Ramsayed by make his birdie putt on 5th. Now he is only

:09:32.:09:37.

three off the pace. Noren. Must be firm with this one.

:09:38.:09:52.

Putting uphill. From the left. Keep going! Oh, please! Suffering on the

:09:53.:10:04.

lip. That is a very comfortable opening par for the Swede.

:10:05.:10:11.

When you're in front, they're the kind of pars you want - eliminating

:10:12.:10:19.

stress. And it is as you were overnight. Noren in front by a

:10:20.:10:24.

couple of shots. From Manassero and Hatton.

:10:25.:10:33.

Distinctive cut on the fairways here at Castle Stuart. Manassero, short

:10:34.:10:43.

game expert to the plateau pin position. On the par-5 second. Very

:10:44.:10:53.

well played. That left for the birdie to move to 11-under and

:10:54.:10:55.

within one of Noren. McDowell on the fourth, 204 yards it

:10:56.:11:13.

is playing today. As a collective these par-3s here are stern. As you

:11:14.:11:19.

can see, so hard to access the hole location. Yes, you have got to be

:11:20.:11:25.

cute with direction into the pin on all of them actually. A lot of

:11:26.:11:30.

slopes, a lot of borrows. Back on the second, a good chance for Matteo

:11:31.:11:38.

Manassero. Oh, again not enough pace. The greens a bit slower and

:11:39.:11:42.

probably slower than the putting green before they started. Last

:11:43.:11:47.

night the pirt let him down -- putter let him down. He missed a

:11:48.:11:55.

tiddler for birdie on 18. Andy Sullivan for 9-under. Well played,

:11:56.:12:04.

looking for a Ryder Cup berth. Days pointing last hole in the French

:12:05.:12:10.

Open last week. He will not want a bad finish today. Big Sunday for

:12:11.:12:16.

him. As it is for McDowell, who lives and breathes the Ryder kuch.

:12:17.:12:27.

-- Ryder rup. It is a common theme this, players leaving the putt

:12:28.:12:31.

short, because the moisture on the greens is slowing them down. Third

:12:32.:12:36.

hole. Short par-4. Good chance for Lee. 10-under. Yes! It is hotting

:12:37.:12:48.

up, Phil, isn't it? I love it! Trying to for his second win on the

:12:49.:12:54.

Tour. He won as an amateur and as a teenager in Australia. Ramsay for

:12:55.:13:00.

four on the trot. Four birdives that it. Oh, my word. 10-under Ritchie

:13:01.:13:08.

Ramsay - go! It has been 17 years since the last Scottish winner of

:13:09.:13:14.

this Scottish Open. Colin Montgomerie in 1995.

:13:15.:13:23.

Now grab. Expertly played. Pretty much guaranteeing a birdie there to

:13:24.:13:36.

move to 13-under if he taps it in. We talked about subplots. Ryder Cup

:13:37.:13:41.

qualification, Open qualifications, capturing the title. As for Justin

:13:42.:13:47.

Walters, the big thing for him - getting enough cash to keep his card

:13:48.:13:53.

for next season. And as such, his approach to 3 will be a delight.

:13:54.:14:00.

Downhill, left to righter for Hatton. This is normally meat and

:14:01.:14:10.

drink to these pros. Another birdie. Lacking in pace. They have to get

:14:11.:14:15.

the speed just right here. Can't leave putts short, or on the lip in

:14:16.:14:19.

the last round. You have got to go for it.

:14:20.:14:31.

How about this? Alex northern a four-time winner on the European

:14:32.:14:41.

Tour. On each occasion he has been leading alone after 54 holes in

:14:42.:14:46.

those victories. You mentioned Justin Walters, 98th on the race to

:14:47.:14:52.

Dubai. A big time for him. Big putt. He moves to 10-under. It is bunching

:14:53.:15:01.

so much at the top. It could be even more, because, Kim, Noren's found

:15:02.:15:07.

trouble off the third tee. Normally birdie country. Can't ground the

:15:08.:15:12.

club. Makes it more difficult. Bites down on it once again. Looking to

:15:13.:15:19.

check it up. Oh, very good. A recovery shot really. Keeping his

:15:20.:15:23.

composure under pressure. Walters now. Just a little from the

:15:24.:15:39.

right. Ideally judged. Hard to believe this man has missed seven of

:15:40.:15:44.

his last nine cuts, inspired this week. Andy Sullivan, not much in

:15:45.:15:52.

this putt in terms of line. Straight and firm is what the doctored

:15:53.:15:57.

ordered. This is for double figures under par. Go on Andy! Yes! I feel

:15:58.:16:03.

for him after last week in France. He is responding well. He is such a

:16:04.:16:12.

smiley upbeat character. Hard not to fall for Andy Sullivan. Noren to

:16:13.:16:20.

tidy up for par. Well done. Could easily have dropped a shot there.

:16:21.:16:27.

On the first hole Graeme McDowell opened his birdie account. Four pars

:16:28.:16:32.

since then. A good opportunity here on 6 though.

:16:33.:16:41.

A distinctive sound of ball hitting turf on these links fairways.

:16:42.:16:45.

McDowell excellent. Tyrell Hatton, the par-3 fourth

:16:46.:16:55.

hole. Missed it on the wrong side. Very awkward from there. Oh what, a

:16:56.:17:00.

great try that was though. Word class that you know? To get that

:17:01.:17:08.

speed right and almost perfect line. He knocked it in for a par as well.

:17:09.:17:14.

Well done Tyrell. A lilt right to left. -- a little right to left. But

:17:15.:17:24.

in nevertheless. Graeme McDowell inDer double digits under. Back to

:17:25.:17:33.

the fourth and Noren. Back of the left hand pulling the putter through

:17:34.:17:43.

the stroke. In for the par. Danny Lee's supposed to be at the green

:17:44.:17:56.

briar. But the weather intervened. What a story it would be considering

:17:57.:18:01.

those circumstances if won here. A big story on 18th. The third shot

:18:02.:18:13.

for Callum Shinkwin. He could be getting himself into the top five.

:18:14.:18:17.

Almost the eagle. The birdie's guaranteed, Phil. Fantastic Sunday

:18:18.:18:24.

for Callum. A fantastic seven days, because last Sunday he booked his

:18:25.:18:28.

place in the Open by doing well at the Open Defrance. There it is. Alex

:18:29.:18:36.

Noren two clear over night. He is still two clear. Danny Lee and

:18:37.:18:44.

Justin Walters his closest pursuers. Another man having an excellent

:18:45.:18:49.

final day is the local man really. Born in this area, Russell Knox.

:18:50.:18:55.

Inverness through and through. And Russell back in 32, a 67, a great

:18:56.:19:00.

Sunday for him. Finishing 9-under par. Just about inside the top 10.

:19:01.:19:04.

Very pleased with his work. We saw Ritchie Ramsay feel off the

:19:05.:19:17.

four birdies. He dropped a shot on the 7th. To the turn in 33. Now has

:19:18.:19:25.

that to start the back 9 with a birdie. Noren, four wins on his CV

:19:26.:19:32.

on the European Tour and each occasion he has led after 54 holes.

:19:33.:19:38.

Is that an omen. Third shot to the par-5 sixth. Steady. Nice grab. Most

:19:39.:19:51.

folks are thinking here that it would be nice for Ramsay to grab the

:19:52.:19:56.

trophy. It is makeable for 10-under. Get in! What a day he's having! Life

:19:57.:20:07.

is good for Ramsay. Won a luxury car for a hole-in-one, he is a new dad

:20:08.:20:13.

and loving his golf. And wearing the colours of Saltire in the process.

:20:14.:20:20.

Noren great chance for 14-under. Take a firm grip on this

:20:21.:20:25.

Championship. Oh! Bit the hole. Didn't like the taste!

:20:26.:20:31.

Must be honest, I'm surprised he missed that one. Me too. Normally a

:20:32.:20:41.

very good clinical finisher. A great front runner.

:20:42.:20:46.

Andy Sullivan yet to make a Poguey. -- bogey. Thirdies y birdies --

:20:47.:20:58.

birdies on 3 and 5. Cutting this one in. It is a handy bounce isn't it?

:20:59.:21:05.

The contours helping greatly. He actually overcut that. The pin's on

:21:06.:21:14.

the right of the 8th in a very accessible place in a little hollow.

:21:15.:21:17.

A chance of a hole-in-one there perhaps. Noren. Right to left

:21:18.:21:25.

dog-leg. That familiar cutting action. He gets in lots of spin. He

:21:26.:21:37.

needs it here. Well played. The 7th hole 564 yards, the lengthiest par-4

:21:38.:21:45.

on the course. Short in distance, big in importance for Andy Sullivan.

:21:46.:21:51.

Go on - 11-under. Third birdie today. Sean the caddy saying, well

:21:52.:22:02.

done, mate! Throughout the week Noren responsible for only one front

:22:03.:22:10.

9 bogey - on this hole yesterday. Not the best of putts, but it is a

:22:11.:22:15.

tap in par. Stays one under for the day.

:22:16.:22:20.

All in all, going out in front, I think he has done well. Yes he is

:22:21.:22:26.

bit of stern stuff is Alex Noren. Ahead on the 9th. Two birdies so

:22:27.:22:40.

far. All the rest pars. This not to drop a shot. Well holed.

:22:41.:22:47.

Phil Mickelson popped the ball in the hole for a two here earlier

:22:48.:22:54.

today. Excellent final day for Phil. 66. Now then, Hatton to the 8th. Can

:22:55.:23:02.

he get close to this? To the pin in the hollow. Looks good for line. Oh,

:23:03.:23:10.

big first bounce. Unlucky. Come back down. Come on. You know you want to!

:23:11.:23:20.

Sometimes they listen, Phil. Very rarely though. It is a game of

:23:21.:23:29.

fractions, Danny Lee's stayed on top of that mound. Hatton's came back

:23:30.:23:34.

in. Now a tough birdie putt for Ramsay on 12.

:23:35.:23:45.

This knowledgeable gallery saying, beauty, well done. All comments

:23:46.:23:48.

apply. Alex Noren has played a slack tee

:23:49.:24:01.

shot on the par-3 eighth. Pressure time.

:24:02.:24:05.

No, slides by. Tighter at the top. Back to minus 12. Danny Lee remember

:24:06.:24:14.

is 11-under. On the front 9 here this week Tyrell

:24:15.:24:33.

hat p has made only one -- Hatton as made only one bogey on 8th. This to

:24:34.:24:40.

get his own back. And to move to 11-under par. A win for him seems

:24:41.:24:47.

inevitable sooner rather than later. He has had 13 top tens now on the

:24:48.:24:51.

European Tour without quite breaking through. With that Hatton climbs

:24:52.:24:56.

into a tie for second place. Just one behind our leader, Noren.

:24:57.:25:02.

Who will be king of the castle? Castle Stuart that is. Of course,

:25:03.:25:11.

royalty relish their time in -- royalty relish their time in

:25:12.:25:16.

Scotland and so many tourists are beguiled as well. Especially

:25:17.:25:20.

golfers, this is the home of golf. There is no place quite like it. Yes

:25:21.:25:27.

and Danny Lee's enjoying it now, because he has driven it on to the

:25:28.:25:35.

10th green, 363 par-4, an eagle chance. A difficult one though and

:25:36.:25:43.

he has misjudged the line. Great chance for the birdie though to

:25:44.:25:48.

come. That would take him to 12-under and join Noren. Out in 34,

:25:49.:25:53.

Graeme McDowell. Par on 10. Brilliant. Just needs the putter to

:25:54.:26:12.

work. Although that shouldn't be too much problem. 9th hole down wind.

:26:13.:26:27.

Slightly uphill for Noren. The pin 19 on. How brave is he? He is safe,

:26:28.:26:34.

into the heart of the green. Just thinking about Danny Lee, we

:26:35.:26:36.

shouldn't be surprised he is prominent here. Made almost $4

:26:37.:26:46.

million on the PGA Tour last year. And on the money on the 10th.

:26:47.:26:48.

Another birdie. Third of the day and he has drawn

:26:49.:27:03.

level with Noren. McDowell in 11. Fantastic tee shot. Oh! I don't

:27:04.:27:11.

believe he has spurned that chance. All the hard work done. Walks off

:27:12.:27:17.

just with the par. He may well rue that.

:27:18.:27:30.

Totally bewildered by that read. On the 12th Nicholas Colsaerts, parred

:27:31.:27:50.

10 and 11. He is 6-under. A long range eagle chance here. He has got

:27:51.:27:58.

to turn. Oh, yes! He is something else, isn't he? The Belgian boomer.

:27:59.:28:05.

He can putt and when he's hot, he is really hot. 8-under, looking for a

:28:06.:28:13.

big finish. As is Patrick Reed, this for a 66.

:28:14.:28:19.

Reed aggravated. Nevertheless, good day for the Americans. Steve

:28:20.:28:29.

Stricker, 67. Phil Mickelson 66. Reed 67. Sending a message ahead of

:28:30.:28:36.

Troon next week. page is ultra-confident, Patrick

:28:37.:28:47.

Reed. Danny Lee birdied the 10th. Alex

:28:48.:28:54.

Noren didn't go for the big guns of the tee. This is his second. Back

:28:55.:29:00.

Henao Montoya. Must be bold to get close. -- back Henao Montoya.

:29:01.:29:06.

15 feet left. Something about the showpiece tournaments that bring the

:29:07.:29:31.

best diet of Tyrell Hatton. I think he will be very disappointed with

:29:32.:29:36.

the city of the first bounce there. Disappointed. -- the ferocity. Open

:29:37.:29:48.

places on the mind of several players, including Jorge Campillo.

:29:49.:29:53.

Slider of a putt. Making gains late on when it matters, the Spaniard,

:29:54.:29:58.

6-under the start of the day, three birdies on the nine wordy. Putting

:29:59.:30:08.

from the fringe, you can never be quite sure of the reaction. It

:30:09.:30:18.

should be a par for Hatton. The physical sense turned up the heat

:30:19.:30:24.

with an eagle on 12. Can he get birdie on 13? -- Nicolas Colsaerts.

:30:25.:30:35.

Pick it out. He is on the charge. We know when he gets hot, he is

:30:36.:30:40.

exceptional, eight birdies and an eagle fling with Lee Westwood when

:30:41.:30:44.

they beat Woods and is quicker at the Ryder Cup in Medinah. -- eight

:30:45.:30:52.

birdies and an eagle playing with Lee Westwood. Just overcooked it,

:30:53.:31:00.

would have looked so good to him. This is one of the most inaccessible

:31:01.:31:05.

pins on the golf course. Back right. Hard to find. But not for Danny Lee.

:31:06.:31:14.

He has now got that putt to go in front on his own. This is hotting up

:31:15.:31:25.

nicely. And so was the weather. Colsaerts, eagle and birdie the last

:31:26.:31:31.

two holes. Up to the plateau. It is in. He is 10-under. And looking so

:31:32.:31:42.

cool. He is great. And he is the definition of a streak player. Andy

:31:43.:31:50.

Sullivan, he found the left-hand hazard with his second shot on the

:31:51.:31:56.

par-5 12th, took a dreaded air shot with his third. Now played five,

:31:57.:32:05.

staring at the possibility of a seven. How costly could that be?

:32:06.:32:17.

McDowell, those guys up above, fluffy clouds, good to see.

:32:18.:32:28.

10-under. Right at it. Please. That was unlucky. Not quite reaching that

:32:29.:32:36.

top plateau and he knows it. For so many reasons it has just been one of

:32:37.:32:42.

those days formic dowel. Come on handy. This is for a six. -- one of

:32:43.:32:50.

those days for McDowell. Three feet past.

:32:51.:32:57.

Phil Mickelson making the very short hop over to Prestwick airport for

:32:58.:33:06.

the Open intrusion. Danny Lee, we can almost give him this one for the

:33:07.:33:13.

birdie at 12. I say, comprehensively missed. Sullivan did make the double

:33:14.:33:21.

bogey seven on 12. That is why you don't see his name on the

:33:22.:33:25.

leaderboard. We thought Danny Lee was going to go out in front lawn.

:33:26.:33:32.

Not so, tied at the top with Noren. Who is playing the 12th. Long second

:33:33.:33:42.

shot on the par-5. 599 yards. Downwind. Shouting at it. That is

:33:43.:33:58.

OK. Not quite reaching the green but still a very good chance of a birdie

:33:59.:34:07.

from there. Since his birdie on the 10th, the putter of Richie Ramsay

:34:08.:34:15.

has cooled somewhat. Short par-4 16th. Richie Ramsay, that is for

:34:16.:34:23.

11-under par and we must remember he is one of those players yet to nail

:34:24.:34:29.

down a place at the Open next week. Slightly errant second shot from

:34:30.:34:36.

Hatton, 63 yards left, awkward length of bunker shot. Making the

:34:37.:34:45.

birdie hard to get. Getting closer but still hard work.

:34:46.:34:57.

Danny Lee on 13 for a birdie. It will be par.

:34:58.:35:17.

That is going to keep travelling. Has done well, actually. Therefore

:35:18.:35:29.

see on the par-5. Surely Nicolas Colsaerts cannot keep this run

:35:30.:35:34.

going. Eagle on 12, birdie on 13 and 14. You can't, can you? Please.

:35:35.:35:45.

Right in the very centre. Hits the back before it hits the bottom.

:35:46.:35:52.

11-under par. He could win this and we haven't seen much of him all

:35:53.:35:56.

week. He's that kind of player. Inspirational. Hatton for 12-under.

:35:57.:36:04.

They are all going in now. Pressure on Noren. Has got a birdie putt to

:36:05.:36:14.

come. As it stands, Danny Lee and Hatton on 12-under together with

:36:15.:36:22.

Noren, this is to break the tie for the Swede.

:36:23.:36:30.

Get in and says somebody, probably his caddy! Up on 17th is the

:36:31.:36:42.

Spaniard they cull the iron man because he plays in so many

:36:43.:36:45.

tournaments and would love to play another one. The Championship next

:36:46.:36:53.

week. The Open. Campillo needs a birdie on either this or the last.

:36:54.:36:59.

And he delivers! Extraordinary stuff. He could remember that putt

:37:00.:37:06.

for the rest of his life because he is trying to qualify for the Open

:37:07.:37:09.

for the first time and make his major debut. Typical last they

:37:10.:37:16.

stuff. Cut and thrust. Sullivan just for par. Well done Andy Sullivan. --

:37:17.:37:26.

typical last day stuff. Giving his composure after the jewel on the

:37:27.:37:32.

12th, double bogey. Manassero after a dozen straight pars. This is for

:37:33.:37:40.

birdie. His first of the day. Do not write him off. All coming down to

:37:41.:37:50.

the wire. The Scottish Open title, Open Championship places. Ramsey

:37:51.:37:58.

will not want to League 1 here. Well done Richie. Looking good for the

:37:59.:38:08.

Open, two off the lead. This is just how a good Sunday should be. Only a

:38:09.:38:16.

couple of shots separating the top seven players with Noren out in

:38:17.:38:24.

front. Nicolas Colsaerts pad the 16th, so his glory run was halted.

:38:25.:38:28.

Manassero for glory at 12-under. Barring a golfing calamity it is

:38:29.:38:43.

going to be his first top ten since this tournament a couple of years

:38:44.:38:52.

back. Danny Lee at 15. Birdie chance. He has steamed it. Lucky or

:38:53.:39:06.

unlucky? The former, I suggest. On 18, Jorge Campillo putted from the

:39:07.:39:16.

fringe. The first at night was struck too hard. No. That is a bogey

:39:17.:39:23.

six and with it, I think his Open chances have exploded. Shame, brave

:39:24.:39:33.

try from the Spaniard. His body language says it all. Find 68,

:39:34.:39:36.

though. Noren, second shot of the par-4.

:39:37.:39:57.

Awkward to get close. Stay there. It is going to run off? Is it? Not

:39:58.:40:03.

quite, he is OK now. You can breathe again. One negative for Noren in a

:40:04.:40:10.

sea of positives, sometimes too much spin is imparted. Cannot get any

:40:11.:40:17.

negatives for Richie Ramsay today. What a round. It included six

:40:18.:40:24.

birdies, a single bogey, 67 and he is packing his bags for Royal Troon.

:40:25.:40:29.

Great for the home fans as well who have flocked here to see him. Noren

:40:30.:40:35.

for birdie. Could have been chipping if he was slightly more unlucky.

:40:36.:40:42.

Pretty good from that range. Still very tight. As you said before, he

:40:43.:40:54.

is a proven front runner. Waiting to exhale. Graeme McDowell,

:40:55.:41:16.

deflated. Frustrated. Bogey on 15. At least it is going to be a birdie

:41:17.:41:26.

on 16. Clear out not quite the day that he envisaged.

:41:27.:41:34.

Chattering after missing a putt, that is the common theme.

:41:35.:41:42.

Hatton needs a late charge. Will it start here on 14? This is to join

:41:43.:41:55.

Noren. Turn, keep going. Lack of pace, not now. Had the line as well.

:41:56.:42:09.

What a strange all day. Throughout the final round, so money players,

:42:10.:42:19.

Hatton amongst them pressing hard, trying to catch and go past Alex

:42:20.:42:24.

Noren at the top. But the Swede, so far, four calls meant to play just

:42:25.:42:29.

about holding firm. Meanwhile I can tell you that Danny Lee is on the

:42:30.:42:37.

par-4 16th in one. This could really upset the apple cart. To take the

:42:38.:42:47.

lead. My word. Rush of blood there. Six feet left for birdie to draw

:42:48.:42:55.

level with Noren. At its maximum the 18th hole stretches 607 yards.

:42:56.:43:03.

Nicolas Colsaerts not happy with the strike on his second shot. But I

:43:04.:43:06.

don't know why. That is for eagle. 13-under. Andy

:43:07.:43:22.

Sullivan coming off birdie on 15 for two in a row. Recover some of that

:43:23.:43:28.

ground he lost with the double bogey seven on the 12th. He does so,

:43:29.:43:36.

11-under. Is it too late? Two holes left. Moments ago we were thinking

:43:37.:43:43.

Danny Lee for an eagle and now this is for a birdie.

:43:44.:43:54.

Horrible, I'm afraid. Crestfallen. A par. Great drive on the par-4.

:43:55.:44:06.

Finding the green. You have to say, what a waste. Colsaerts is on the

:44:07.:44:14.

green as we know. How about this? This is for 13-under. Got to give it

:44:15.:44:19.

a chance. Big swing. That is wide. Two feet left to finish on 12-under

:44:20.:44:43.

par. 15. 458 yards, the longest par-4 on the back nine. Obvious

:44:44.:44:49.

birdie opportunity. Eight hardest hole in the final round but Noren is

:44:50.:44:56.

equal to the task, a superb shot in the circumstances at this time and

:44:57.:45:00.

he knows it. The back right pin perfect for his ball shape but that

:45:01.:45:08.

is a candidate for shot of the day. Colsaerts, what a last day for him,

:45:09.:45:13.

come on, finish it off. He does, 6-under par 66, fantastic at nine of

:45:14.:45:22.

just 30 against a par of 36. Well done says Martin Kaymer, his playing

:45:23.:45:27.

partner. Well-deserved. Now he can go to Troon and prove his driving

:45:28.:45:35.

stats on the postage stamp. Noren, big putt for 14-under. Going to be a

:45:36.:45:42.

nail in the coffin of the others. Holding firm and then some. Yes, the

:45:43.:45:50.

quality of the second shot just tremendous and with any lead not

:45:51.:45:56.

birdie on 16 and only managing par on 17 it means that Noren is two

:45:57.:46:04.

clear with three to play. Hatton from the right-hand hay on the 16th.

:46:05.:46:17.

Needs all of his touch here. Great shot said somebody in the crowd.

:46:18.:46:24.

Going on. Fantastic effort. All happening now. If Hatton can finish

:46:25.:46:31.

second on his own that would be his biggest ever check, Noren wins,

:46:32.:46:42.

ditto. The second of Noren. Close to the green, par-4, remember. That is

:46:43.:46:45.

a little bit shy. Tension telling. Looking at this, you have to believe

:46:46.:46:59.

facing that horrible lie on 18, birdies year, minimum requirement.

:47:00.:47:07.

Then when, final hole, over 600 yards in two blows, can he make it?

:47:08.:47:16.

Not quite. In the gully. At this stage, no lead is big enough. For

:47:17.:47:22.

extra breathing space for Noren. This should do it, surely. Give it a

:47:23.:47:30.

chance, come on. That would have looked so good for him.

:47:31.:47:37.

Another hole out the way. Stays 14-under and stays in charge.

:47:38.:47:50.

Trying to looked impassive but not doing a good job.

:47:51.:47:59.

The 23-year-old back on form, 111 in the Race to Dubai, hard to believe

:48:00.:48:09.

that. Not for long. This is for par. Short game skills on display once

:48:10.:48:11.

again. And nerve to boot. Blemish free card. Hence the smile.

:48:12.:48:29.

This took up the gap to one. Don't look for much borrow. Acceleration.

:48:30.:48:40.

Just got away at the end, he went straight at it.

:48:41.:48:50.

There is the school board and the man on top is the man on top. All

:48:51.:49:10.

day. Since halfway. Sullivan. On the last. Can't even squeeze a birdie

:49:11.:49:17.

out of the 18th. What might have been. Seven on the 12th and seven on

:49:18.:49:26.

the last hole at the Open de France, Ryder Cup at stake, I wonder. Every

:49:27.:49:32.

point counts there with the qualifying period drawing to a close

:49:33.:49:37.

and a couple of months' time, let's hope he makes Minnesota. Chance to

:49:38.:49:43.

put our last bit of pressure on Noren. Leave. For 13-under. Three

:49:44.:49:53.

putting 16 after driving the green and missing that little tiddler.

:49:54.:50:02.

Providing this one goes in, a good week for the man who wasn't going to

:50:03.:50:08.

be here at the start of the week. He was going to defend the Greenbrier

:50:09.:50:15.

Classic in America. Fantastic addition to the Scottish Open, Danny

:50:16.:50:16.

Lee, 12-under. Huge putt in the life of Alex Noren.

:50:17.:50:29.

He has holed so many of those this week under pressure. Remaining

:50:30.:50:38.

14-under, par on 17, gold dust. Very good, similar for Hatton. This is

:50:39.:50:51.

for a par. Well holed. So much money at stake. Race to Dubai points, etc.

:50:52.:51:02.

Keeping his nerve and feeling it. Although two shot lead is useful, it

:51:03.:51:07.

is by no means decisive, especially on a swing hole like the 18th, where

:51:08.:51:13.

scores can range from an eagle to a seven. Anywhere on the fairway on

:51:14.:51:18.

the job is almost done. He is two clear. Familiar left to right shape.

:51:19.:51:28.

Finds the fairway, the big question will be with people for it? First

:51:29.:51:31.

half of the job is done. Up on the putting surface, let's

:51:32.:51:44.

hope that Manassero holes this to remain bogey free for the day.

:51:45.:51:50.

Never in doubt. Cool head, old head on young shoulders. He can expect

:51:51.:52:02.

that big leap in the world rankings. 596 coming here, he will zoom up.

:52:03.:52:13.

The answer to my question, gone with an iron, looking down the left-hand

:52:14.:52:20.

side, Alex Noren. Big rocklike from left to right. Imploring it to stay

:52:21.:52:29.

left. He is all right, on the second corner of this snaking par-5, he is

:52:30.:52:40.

all right. We know that a par will probably do. All of us getting the

:52:41.:52:48.

distance right for this third. He has managed it just about. Hang on.

:52:49.:52:56.

Yes. 20 13th Phil Mickelson three parted from lengthy range to go into

:52:57.:53:02.

a play-off with Branden Grace -- three putted. Hatton is two shots

:53:03.:53:07.

behind, here he is for if this goes in we will have some

:53:08.:53:21.

fun and games. Nice try. Very nice try. The question is no simple to

:53:22.:53:30.

get this to them to extra holes, Hatton must hole that and Noren must

:53:31.:53:34.

feed putt. -- 3-putt. Gathering pace. Cosied it

:53:35.:53:45.

down. Necessary. His biggest cheque to date came at

:53:46.:54:05.

the Wales Open at Celtic Manor, is he going to enjoy another Celtic

:54:06.:54:11.

success? Another big moment in the life of Tyrell Hatton, this will

:54:12.:54:15.

guarantee second on his own, providing that Noren tap seven. Well

:54:16.:54:23.

done, not dropped shot insight, three birdies, solid as you like,

:54:24.:54:31.

13-under. He will win soon. Noren's putt should be a formality, but in

:54:32.:54:34.

these circumstances it most certainly isn't. Just to win by a

:54:35.:54:39.

single shot. In it goes. His first European Tour

:54:40.:54:54.

title. Unlike all the rest, he led going into the last round and keeps

:54:55.:55:01.

up record, fantastic. Padraig Harrington captured this title in

:55:02.:55:05.

Gleneagles in 1993, Johan Edfors in Loch Lomond 2006 and the Alex Noren

:55:06.:55:11.

and you have two wonder with Henrik Stenson being in good form, how

:55:12.:55:16.

about a first Swede to win a major at Royal Troon next week? Right now,

:55:17.:55:21.

Noren in the mood for celebration. What a performance.

:55:22.:55:29.

Such a strong composed finish from Alex Noren, who has held top spot

:55:30.:55:36.

says the halfway mark and then record equalling -- career-best

:55:37.:55:45.

second place for Tyrell Hatton. Matteo Manassero's first top ten

:55:46.:55:51.

finish for two news. Good to see Graeme McDowell, Phil Mickelson and

:55:52.:55:55.

Henriksen as in the top 15 and that could bode well for true but King of

:55:56.:56:00.

the castle, Castle Stuart, Alex Noren receives the trophy that

:56:01.:56:03.

signals his first victory for over a year and a first in Scotland, the

:56:04.:56:07.

home of golf. He surges into the top ten in ninth place on 61st in the

:56:08.:56:15.

season-long race to Race to Dubai. Much to celebrate after a first

:56:16.:56:21.

European Tour win for the Swede. So relieved right now, even more than

:56:22.:56:24.

happy, I would say. Having those guys behind me and still pulling

:56:25.:56:27.

through, it is big for me. We are very admiring of the course,

:56:28.:56:40.

very happy it rained last night and it is still dry and I will sing to

:56:41.:56:45.

my caddy, it got even firmer than before and it is amazing, I want to

:56:46.:56:50.

thank Chris and his team for an amazing course. Lauren continues his

:56:51.:56:56.

tremendous comeback from injury. Two years ago he missed a whole season

:56:57.:57:01.

with tendinitis in his wrists and we will see him very soon once again on

:57:02.:57:03.

the Ayrshire coast. Zach Johnson defends the title he

:57:04.:57:13.

won in such style at Saint Andrews. Today, it is the Scottish links that

:57:14.:57:32.

belong to Alex Noren. He is the Scottish Open champion.

:57:33.:57:37.
