Hello. Glad you could join us. Your timing is perfect, because something

:00:27.:00:35.

special is brewing here at The Masters in Augusta. We have got what

:00:36.:00:40.

we wanted - two of the game's young superstars head to head in the final

:00:41.:00:44.

pairing in round three. Between them they have won four of the last six

:00:45.:00:49.

Majors. Jordan Spieth is only the fourth man successfully to defend

:00:50.:00:53.

The Masters title. Rory McIlory is chasing something even bigger - a

:00:54.:00:58.

green, either,, and with it, a career Grand Slam. Only one shot

:00:59.:01:03.

separate them. Only seven men are under par in what has been a very

:01:04.:01:07.

breezy week. For a while it look like it would never get that close.

:01:08.:01:16.

For some, the drive up the famous Lane must feel like coming home.

:01:17.:01:21.

Jordan Spieth arrived short on form but was then transformed as he put

:01:22.:01:27.

in a 66, a round, like this place itself, without blemish. Rickie

:01:28.:01:33.

Fowler shot 80, and Ernie Els fell to the putting madness in his head.

:01:34.:01:38.

Then there were those two would rise to the challenge. Shane Lowry would

:01:39.:01:44.

finish with a 68 - four under par. And what of Rory McIlory? Some good,

:01:45.:01:49.

some bad. Stumbling over the final three holes, but 70 - a solid start,

:01:50.:01:55.

four shots behind the even younger master, leading The Masters in this

:01:56.:02:03.

extraordinary place. In round two, McIlory was on the move, initially

:02:04.:02:07.

with steps forward and find before getting birdies on 13 and 15. And he

:02:08.:02:14.

had to move, because Spieth had started well, at one stage getting

:02:15.:02:18.

to eight under. Was this to become another Spieth parade? Tom Watson,

:02:19.:02:26.

one of the greats, took his leave. Ian Woosnam would also say fell

:02:27.:02:31.

well. But today's generation was struggling. Paul Casey, Ian Poulter

:02:32.:02:36.

and others faded on a day when no-one would break 70. On the back

:02:37.:02:41.

nine, Jordan Spieth started to flap in the wind. The best golf was

:02:42.:02:46.

coming from the precise engineering of a matter Bryson DeChambeau, until

:02:47.:02:56.

his machinery broke down. Which left Spieth to recover his poise and

:02:57.:03:01.

retain his lead - now a slender lead. And to ensure a meeting with

:03:02.:03:04.

McIlory on the weekend at The Masters.

:03:05.:03:10.

At one point, McIlory was eight shots behind, but they start today

:03:11.:03:17.

separated by only one shot. Spieth having shot the first over par round

:03:18.:03:21.

in his Masters career. McIlory did well yes, today on a brutal day for

:03:22.:03:27.

scoring. Danny Lee is tied for third with Scott Piercy. Three shots back,

:03:28.:03:33.

Soren Kjeldsen and Brandt Snedeker. Sheffield's Danny Willett is another

:03:34.:03:38.

of nine UK players to have made the cut. Australia's world number one

:03:39.:03:47.

Jason Day is not that far away, either. The halfway cut fell at six

:03:48.:03:57.

over, four shots higher than it was last year, in maddening winds. Phil

:03:58.:04:06.

Mickelson posted a 79, his worst score at Augusta, and he misses the

:04:07.:04:10.

weekend, as do many other former champions. Tom Watson bids farewell,

:04:11.:04:17.

as does Ian Woosnam, also announced that this is his last Masters as

:04:18.:04:20.

well. We will be hearing from him later. But look to the wind has

:04:21.:04:28.

blown into our studio today. Could this weekend be even better set up

:04:29.:04:35.

vanities? No, I don't think so. I have been coming for more than 40

:04:36.:04:39.

years and I have seen it a lot worse than this. But it is risky. The

:04:40.:04:44.

course is in very good condition, as always, even though they knew the

:04:45.:04:49.

wind was going to blow, 90% of the flags are in almost impossible

:04:50.:04:53.

places, so they have not become soft-hearted overnight! We have all

:04:54.:05:00.

the best players in the world here, so there will be something for

:05:01.:05:05.

everybody. Paul, when we look back at that round from Jordan Spieth

:05:06.:05:10.

yesterday's, going over par for the first time here, but it has opened

:05:11.:05:17.

up this tournament? Yes, and he was not the only one who'd struggled.

:05:18.:05:21.

There is a lot of pressure here at Augusta National. You think you have

:05:22.:05:29.

hit a great shot and it does not quite stop, and the next thing, you

:05:30.:05:33.

are on the other side of the lake. It is a terrifying golf course,? Is

:05:34.:05:38.

difficult to be comfortable on at any moment. It brought everybody

:05:39.:05:47.

into a big cluster. What for you, Peter, has been the most difficult

:05:48.:05:50.

aspect of the conditions? They must be the worst in almost a decade? I

:05:51.:05:57.

don't think we should get carried away with how strong the wind is.

:05:58.:06:02.

Players have been out in a lot worse than this. It is the condition of

:06:03.:06:05.

the greens, the speed of the greens, the position of the flags, the

:06:06.:06:10.

contours, the way they cut the grass, all sorts of things, which

:06:11.:06:13.

normal folk do not take into account. As Paul just said, you can

:06:14.:06:17.

think you are safe by 12 yards on the 15th, and suddenly, it is down

:06:18.:06:24.

there. It borders on unfair, sometimes, in my opinion. A very

:06:25.:06:30.

frustrating golf course to play everyday, I would think. And if you

:06:31.:06:35.

play poorly at Augusta, it seems to linger longer. If you miss the cut

:06:36.:06:40.

at the US Open, you go back out there the next week... But at

:06:41.:06:45.

Augusta, it feels like it exposes all of your weaknesses to me. If you

:06:46.:06:49.

are not a high ball hitter, cannot play at Augusta. If you do not know

:06:50.:06:53.

how to clip it off the tight grasp on to us if you play poorly here, it

:06:54.:06:58.

has a long-lasting effect, I feel. And it does not help when you have

:06:59.:07:02.

got 80mph winds, north-westerly,, which will affect them at the par

:07:03.:07:08.

fives. Gusting at 25mph, as it has been. This is at the 7th. Justin

:07:09.:07:18.

Thomas has got something like 8ft for par, and the wind just takes it.

:07:19.:07:25.

And it goes about 45ft past. That is the danger, just as we saw last year

:07:26.:07:31.

at the open championship. The 11th at St Andrews last year, out on the

:07:32.:07:36.

peninsula, was really exposed to the wind. And the 7th as well. Straight

:07:37.:07:44.

downwind today. It is a game of degrees. Could be fun! If you watch

:07:45.:07:52.

that picture again, I am not saying it is easy, but he hits it, and he

:07:53.:07:57.

is like this before it has gone that far. So really, if you just... If!

:07:58.:08:07.

It was one of those, to start with! Your ball flight has to be

:08:08.:08:13.

predetermined here at The Masters. Great wind players do not

:08:14.:08:17.

necessarily excel here. Most of them think they can change the trajectory

:08:18.:08:22.

of their ball flight, but here, you are required to hit the ball in the

:08:23.:08:25.

air, in most cases, up wind or downwind, does not matter. Jamie

:08:26.:08:35.

Donaldson had four putts on the same green, by the way. We are about 20

:08:36.:08:39.

minutes away from the start of coverage. We have about 15 minutes

:08:40.:08:43.

until the leading pair of Spieth and McIlory go out. This is how it looks

:08:44.:08:49.

right now. There is not that much forward momentum on the leaderboard,

:08:50.:08:52.

as you can see. We have got Matsuyama level, having played the

:08:53.:09:03.

first. Jamie Holmes -- JB Holmes has picked shot, as has Bernhard Langer.

:09:04.:09:11.

Smylie Kaufman has been doing great things on the PGA Tour. But Jordan

:09:12.:09:14.

Spieth is ready to go out. He has known nothing other than the final

:09:15.:09:18.

pairing at the weekend here. He has been the outright lead in each of

:09:19.:09:22.

the last six rounds, but he had a torrid day yesterday's. These were

:09:23.:09:26.

his reflections on that round, with Rishi Persad. Jordan, a different

:09:27.:09:32.

day today, how do you look back on that 74? Not as a 74! We kept the

:09:33.:09:38.

lid, but I need to learn from what I did on number five, a few different

:09:39.:09:45.

holes, where, even though we caught tough breaks with the wind, compared

:09:46.:09:49.

to what it should have been doing, I then kind of shot myself in the foot

:09:50.:09:54.

and gave away two or three shots today from my decision-making on the

:09:55.:09:57.

next strokes. There is nothing you can do about gusting winds. You hope

:09:58.:10:02.

you are on the good side of it more than the bad. But I did not leave

:10:03.:10:08.

myself are correct leafs after that. I learned from that, and I will do

:10:09.:10:15.

so again. Bound to catch the wrong side of some gusts tomorrow. I will

:10:16.:10:19.

do my best to make four in that situation. Difficult to control the

:10:20.:10:23.

emotions when you are being tested like you were today? Yes, of course.

:10:24.:10:28.

And when you still have more difficult holes left and you're

:10:29.:10:30.

trying to figure out how to keep the ball on the green... I mean, I did

:10:31.:10:36.

not hit many greens at all invigilation today. When you are

:10:37.:10:38.

trying to chip onto these greens, it is just so challenging. It can wear

:10:39.:10:45.

on your bit. Leading The Masters going into the weekend, what are you

:10:46.:10:53.

feeling right now? I feel fine. You should never say you are

:10:54.:10:57.

disappointed, because I am not. At the same time, I have the chance

:10:58.:11:01.

today to separate myself a bit - and I didn't. It is going to be very

:11:02.:11:05.

much a battle these last couple of days. I want to find a nice

:11:06.:11:09.

consistent ball flight that I can play in this wind and just do what I

:11:10.:11:13.

can to hold the middle of the greens. We spoke to Rory today and

:11:14.:11:17.

he said how much he enjoyed the prospect of locking horns with you.

:11:18.:11:21.

What do you think about that, no disrespect to the other players?

:11:22.:11:25.

Yes, I think it will be very exciting. Hopefully the next couple

:11:26.:11:29.

of days bring out one of the better battles that have ever happened

:11:30.:11:32.

here. That would be a lot of fun if I was a part of that. Rory has

:11:33.:11:38.

proven himself in Majors. I think it would be a lot of fun for both of

:11:39.:11:42.

us, even though it will be a grind. Look forward to it.

:11:43.:11:48.

Still only 22, behaves like a veteran. What characterised his

:11:49.:11:56.

round for you, Peter? Well, he just hit a few shots, which did not go in

:11:57.:11:59.

the right place. Golf is more simple than a lot of us, and then, try and

:12:00.:12:08.

make out. The conditions can make it difficult. If you hit the fairways

:12:09.:12:13.

and the greens, and you don't 3-putt, you are a very good player.

:12:14.:12:16.

That is where I disagree with my darling friend here, 70% of the ball

:12:17.:12:22.

to have won The Masters never hit the ball more than 20ft above the

:12:23.:12:27.

ground. People laying up on the par fives and pitching up. Only about

:12:28.:12:31.

eight people in my memory have ever hit it up there. They have links and

:12:32.:12:36.

the course over the years -- they have lengthened the course over the

:12:37.:12:40.

years and it has become more obvious that if you can do that on some

:12:41.:12:46.

holes, then it is very good. But you only have to look at the list of the

:12:47.:12:51.

winners. Not big ball hitters. If you go back 30-40 years. But this is

:12:52.:12:58.

the fascination. Spieth appears to be, as I said before, from another

:12:59.:13:02.

world. There is a calmness about him, almost as if he has got the

:13:03.:13:10.

genes of about ten geniuses from a thousand years ago! Very true! We

:13:11.:13:15.

are so used to seeing him in control, but there were a couple of

:13:16.:13:19.

moments, particularly with his caddie, which we have not seen a

:13:20.:13:23.

great deal of. I know they can pick a, but this was on a different

:13:24.:13:31.

level. That is not the question I asked you. When you fall out with

:13:32.:13:38.

your partner, I usually give him the silent treatment, but there was none

:13:39.:13:42.

of that! This is a new Jordan Spieth. Two years ago, he did a lot

:13:43.:13:45.

of chirping with his caddie. You do not need a broadcast team when

:13:46.:13:50.

Jordan Spieth is playing - he will give you all the analogy you need.

:13:51.:13:54.

It is not new to him. People thought he acted like a spoiled brat here

:13:55.:13:59.

two years ago. Last year he won it and followed up with the US Open.

:14:00.:14:03.

That is just kind of the way he is. He likes to deflect. It is about we,

:14:04.:14:16.

it is not I, it is we. That is just the way his mentality is. He has

:14:17.:14:19.

surrounded himself with the people he trusts, and for him, it is a we

:14:20.:14:25.

philosophy. And here he is on the range. About six minutes before him

:14:26.:14:31.

and Rory go back out. A really fighting performance once again from

:14:32.:14:38.

heat, particularly with that saving putt at the 18th. It is a vicious

:14:39.:14:45.

mental battle out there. You do not get much silence. As soon as you hit

:14:46.:14:50.

the shot, you look up and you have an interest in that shot. You have

:14:51.:14:53.

got to win these mental fights. Jordan Spieth, he wins a lot of

:14:54.:15:00.

mental battles. When you are standing over a putt like that, and

:15:01.:15:04.

you have got to make it, you have got to stroke the putt with

:15:05.:15:08.

certainty. Commitment is not swinging harder. Rickie Fowler said

:15:09.:15:12.

it - it is swinging with more certainty. That is what the best

:15:13.:15:16.

players do when they are playing their best. There is plenty of

:15:17.:15:21.

conviction as well with Rory McIlory, Newsround yesterday's was

:15:22.:15:27.

only one of four under par. As tough as conditions were today,

:15:28.:15:33.

how much did you enjoy playing those 18 holes? I enjoyed the back nine,

:15:34.:15:39.

for sure. I had a bit of a wobble on the front nine, but I kept my

:15:40.:15:43.

composure. I had a go at trying to play the front nine under par. I was

:15:44.:15:48.

not able to do that, but I knew there would be opportunities coming

:15:49.:15:57.

up on the likes of 13 and 15. I knew I would have some chances on the

:15:58.:16:00.

back nine, and thankfully I took some of them, to leave me in this

:16:01.:16:05.

position. Obviously, very happy with that going into the weekend. The

:16:06.:16:09.

round was dotted with some superb moments, the big birdie on 16... But

:16:10.:16:14.

how important was that par putt on 18? It was huge. 18 is playing

:16:15.:16:20.

tough. The last few holes are really playing tough. 17 downwind, and 18,

:16:21.:16:25.

cannot aim your ball far enough to left, because you will just hit

:16:26.:16:31.

trees! So it is a tough tee-shot. Thankfully I was able to make par

:16:32.:16:35.

there. I was disappointed coming off last night, but feeling a lot better

:16:36.:16:43.

today. Fans everywhere would love to see you locking horns with Jordan

:16:44.:16:46.

Spieth over the weekend - how much would that get the juices flowing

:16:47.:16:50.

for you? Obviously, Jordan is the defending champion and he is playing

:16:51.:16:54.

great here. He is very comfortable on this golf course. I feel like I

:16:55.:16:59.

have got some unfinished business here over the past few years. I

:17:00.:17:03.

would look forward to it. Jordan is playing very, very well. If I were

:17:04.:17:09.

to have a battle with him over the next two days, I would enjoy it and

:17:10.:17:16.

hopefully I could just come out on top!

:17:17.:17:22.

It is fascinating to think that Jordan and Rory have played together

:17:23.:17:28.

here before but never in any tournament on the final weekend.

:17:29.:17:34.

Doing the maths, looking at this, Rory has outscored Jordan by 28

:17:35.:17:37.

shots when they have been paired together. Does that interest you? It

:17:38.:17:42.

does. It makes a difference. There were guys I played with in my career

:17:43.:17:47.

and I played great in front of, and others I did not play well in front

:17:48.:17:51.

of. That can have an effect on the player going into a situation like

:17:52.:17:54.

this. Here comes Rory, making his way from the practice area, up onto

:17:55.:18:01.

the tee. They are squaring up here for the first time ever worldwide on

:18:02.:18:09.

the final weekend. Rory McIlory will need the golfing weekend of his life

:18:10.:18:13.

to claim one of the greatest prizes in the sport, and making it the

:18:14.:18:22.

career Grand Slam. Coverage will be beginning fire our host

:18:23.:18:27.

broadcasters, within a few minutes. Rory and others are trying to bridge

:18:28.:18:33.

the gap back to a golden era of European success, when we had 11

:18:34.:18:39.

winners in 20 years. It is 25 years this year since a certain Welshman,

:18:40.:18:42.

Ian Woosnam, had his finest moment here.

:18:43.:18:55.

Seve Ballesteros, Sandy Lyle, Nick Faldo, if I can beat them, I can win

:18:56.:19:04.

a major. All of a sudden, this is your big chance, what you have been

:19:05.:19:11.

dreaming about all your life. I just aimed it down the middle and hit it

:19:12.:19:16.

as hard as I could. It carried straight over the top. It was the

:19:17.:19:24.

safest place to go. They could not move the crowd. So in the end, I

:19:25.:19:31.

said, how far is it? He says, I think it is 146. At the lie and hit

:19:32.:19:43.

it. And I was surprised to see how far right it was. I actually thought

:19:44.:19:48.

it was upon the green, I did not think it was there. But the best to

:19:49.:19:58.

do was just to try to putt it. I was very nervous, but with confidence as

:19:59.:20:02.

well. I knew if I missed it that I would be in the play-off - and I

:20:03.:20:05.

think that made it easier for me. PETER ALLISS: Yes, what a man!

:20:06.:20:09.

Fantastic stuff! And a quarter of a century later, he

:20:10.:20:29.

has played his last Masters here. He announced it yet today. But they can

:20:30.:20:34.

never take that jacket away from you. I understand it was quite

:20:35.:20:38.

tricky getting hold of it today? Yes, obviously, I missed the cut,

:20:39.:20:43.

and they take them away and store them somewhere. Of course I came

:20:44.:20:46.

back, I knew I was doing the interview today, I thought I would

:20:47.:20:50.

wear it, and they managed to get it in just-in-time. It looks

:20:51.:20:56.

resplendent, as ever. All these 25 years since winning it, what is the

:20:57.:20:59.

one moment that you always recall when you walk up 18? Barry Island on

:21:00.:21:05.

the 25 years ago, but I think the most special moment is when I drive

:21:06.:21:12.

down Magnolia Lane and you think, you are back. Hopefully I will be

:21:13.:21:16.

coming back for another 25 years. Was it a difficult decision to say,

:21:17.:21:21.

that is enough, competitively? It was difficult. I have been

:21:22.:21:26.

struggling for a few years now. I was playing beautiful before I came

:21:27.:21:29.

here and looking forward to it, but I had a couple of practice rounds,

:21:30.:21:35.

and my back got really tired. If you are not using your legs right around

:21:36.:21:38.

this course, you will not go anywhere. Peter, you were

:21:39.:21:42.

commentating obviously, and Ian was number one in the world. It was the

:21:43.:21:48.

first week you had come in as world number one - what stays with you

:21:49.:21:52.

about his performance that week, Peter? Just that he was youthful and

:21:53.:21:55.

buoyant, and he had a very interesting caddie, which was very

:21:56.:22:00.

much part of the game of golf. Together, they were joyous and

:22:01.:22:04.

happy. And he was one of ours, and he had won. It was a happy time,

:22:05.:22:08.

that is what I remember. Was a dominant time for European golf. And

:22:09.:22:19.

it followed... For you, is it close, for such a period of European

:22:20.:22:25.

domination to be beginning again? Yes, when you watch these guys,

:22:26.:22:27.

McIlory and Spieth and the others, it is wonderful. What gets me is how

:22:28.:22:33.

they speak in front of the public and in the media. We had the dinner

:22:34.:22:40.

the other night, and he was just sitting there like he was a

:22:41.:22:43.

choirboy. I cannot believe it, 22 years of age and just spoke

:22:44.:22:48.

beautifully. What is your opinion of the way it is set up, and indeed of

:22:49.:22:52.

how difficult it has been playing the last couple of years, you know

:22:53.:22:56.

this place better than most? I was in the studio just earlier, and Paul

:22:57.:23:01.

was saying, you have got to hit the ball high. Peter says, you have got

:23:02.:23:04.

to hit it a bit lower. You have got to do a bit of everything, if you

:23:05.:23:12.

ask me. You want to hit it high down the wind, and lower into the wind. A

:23:13.:23:15.

good player has got to have everything - lowball, high ball,

:23:16.:23:20.

fades, draws, everything. With this wind today, it will be very

:23:21.:23:24.

difficult. Is this perhaps some of the most challenging conditions you

:23:25.:23:27.

have seen at Augusta? I think it is passing as you get older, it is more

:23:28.:23:33.

difficult. On the greens, you just see the slopes more. You know what

:23:34.:23:38.

is going to go wrong. With these youngsters, they don't see that so

:23:39.:23:42.

much. They can hit it 6ft past and put it in. They do not know what it

:23:43.:23:47.

is like to miss yet. It is exciting. I know you should go back a long

:23:48.:23:51.

way. Did you not caddie for Ian at some point?! Yes! Hill Valley! I

:23:52.:23:58.

will never forget it, Peter and David Thompson, Hill Valley in

:23:59.:24:03.

Shropshire, and I caddied for Peter. I was 16 years of age, and he had

:24:04.:24:09.

got this leather bag, it was so heavy. I was as strong as an ox. I

:24:10.:24:15.

am sure he put bricks in it! It was a grand occasion! I gave him a

:24:16.:24:21.

couple of... They were not new, but I gave him a couple of not too bad

:24:22.:24:26.

golf balls. He look at them like that. He was expecting about three

:24:27.:24:31.

quid, I think! He has always been a bit tight, Ian, that is for sure!

:24:32.:24:35.

One thing I know that is missing from your CV is an entry to the

:24:36.:24:46.

world Golf Hall of Fame. I am sure it will not be long before they put

:24:47.:24:51.

that right. Long may you continue to wear that jacket. This afternoon,

:24:52.:24:58.

our leaders are just about to go off. We can have a look now and see

:24:59.:25:03.

Jordan Spieth, the defending champion, at the first.

:25:04.:25:09.

This was playing one of the most difficult holes yesterday's, but

:25:10.:25:19.

that was straight and true. He has been leading here for the last six

:25:20.:25:26.

rounds. Now, Rory McIlory, who got so close in 2011. One shot behind,

:25:27.:25:29.

starting his round today. COMMENTATOR: Beautiful. Beautiful

:25:30.:25:54.

swing. HAZEL IRVINE: This looks good. He

:25:55.:26:02.

has gone well past the bunker. No trouble, and we are off and running.

:26:03.:26:07.

So, let's get an update on the conditions. Ken Brown has been out

:26:08.:26:11.

on the course today, and this is really a day when a can of her spray

:26:12.:26:16.

makes no difference at all. At the back of the range, the wind

:26:17.:26:20.

is whistling about at the moment in all different directions, probably

:26:21.:26:26.

25mph and gusting. As we look at the lads on the range, they are really

:26:27.:26:31.

almost out straight. The flag to the left of the green, you can see where

:26:32.:26:35.

it is blowing. A lot of the players will take what I call a wind map, a

:26:36.:26:40.

plan of the golf course, in the back of their yardage books, to mark the

:26:41.:26:44.

wind direction. On the practice ground at the moment, it is blowing

:26:45.:26:46.

virtually straight into you. And then you look at the other holes and

:26:47.:26:52.

they will be able to have a guide as to where the wind is blowing. Today,

:26:53.:27:00.

the 1st, if the wind stays as it is, it will be virtually in the same

:27:01.:27:03.

direction as the practice ground. So, the first hole will be straight

:27:04.:27:07.

into the breeze. And it is whipping around, changing direction.

:27:08.:27:11.

Selection will be very tricky. This should tell us how strong the breeze

:27:12.:27:15.

is. It is gone. So it is going to be really tough. A par on the first

:27:16.:27:25.

would be a great result. Bubba Watson was the last of the 57

:27:26.:27:28.

players to make the cut, on six over par. We can show you some of the

:27:29.:27:34.

headline groups this afternoon. Shane Lowry made such a

:27:35.:27:37.

scintillating start to his second campaign at Augusta. He started from

:27:38.:27:43.

four shots behind today, alongside the fascinating leading a matter

:27:44.:27:48.

Bryson DeChambeau. The leading Leishman this year is Sheffield's

:27:49.:27:51.

world number 12, Danny Willett, out with Sergio Garcia in the Spaniard's

:27:52.:28:01.

70th Major. New Zealand's Danny Lee plays alongside America's Scott

:28:02.:28:05.

Piercy. Both won titles on the PGA Tour last year. And as you have just

:28:06.:28:12.

seen, the top attraction, Spieth and McIlory, with six Major titles

:28:13.:28:14.

between them. They went off minutes ago. They are not the only ones we

:28:15.:28:21.

are talking about. I just wonder what other players these gentlemen

:28:22.:28:30.

might have their eye on... I am not one of these folks to predict all of

:28:31.:28:34.

these things. If you look down the list, there are ten-12 people within

:28:35.:28:39.

a couple of shots. This event has been won by someone, who has been

:28:40.:28:44.

six shots behind with nine holes to play full stop not 36 holes to play!

:28:45.:28:49.

Gary Player said, many moons ago - if they covered the greens with

:28:50.:28:52.

lumps of coal, somebody would go round in 66. Now, that is possible

:28:53.:28:57.

today. All sorts of things can happen. You could get someone from

:28:58.:29:04.

eight shots behind suddenly... It can all go like this. I have always

:29:05.:29:11.

fancied Henrik Stenson. I think Joe is a magnificent player. The years

:29:12.:29:14.

have gone by and he has not managed it yet. But these should, everyone

:29:15.:29:20.

says you have got to get off to a nice start. You do not want to mess

:29:21.:29:25.

about on the first two or three holes. If Rory is level par after

:29:26.:29:29.

four, at worst, he will become to. There are some fascinating

:29:30.:29:32.

characters in the chasing pack. I know you have your eye on Bryson

:29:33.:29:38.

DeChambeau, and he has the potential perhaps to change the way we think

:29:39.:29:42.

about playing the game of golf? He is probably the most interesting

:29:43.:29:46.

character in the game already, and this is the first time he has been

:29:47.:29:51.

on the world stage. He won the United States amateur,, which is a

:29:52.:29:55.

rare feat. I think he is one of the few people who comes out onto the

:29:56.:29:58.

Tour, completely secure in what he is trying to do. That is supposed to

:29:59.:30:02.

be the weak part of his game! He plays his grubs extremely upright.

:30:03.:30:11.

-- his clubs. How many physics Majors are playing the PGA Tour? Has

:30:12.:30:16.

been able to converge the artist and the engineer. And for me, I think he

:30:17.:30:21.

is on a high trajectory. Years ago, there was a man called import moody

:30:22.:30:27.

Blake, was a member at Wentworth golf club. He had these ideas.

:30:28.:30:32.

Fascinating for me today to discover that he went into the clubhouse

:30:33.:30:35.

here, and there was a set of clubs, which Bobby Jones had used, and they

:30:36.:30:40.

were all the same length. That is fascinating, because the clubs he is

:30:41.:30:44.

using, all of the irons are the same length. He calls it zero shifting

:30:45.:30:50.

motion. It is not just the length of the clubs, it is the positioning of

:30:51.:30:55.

himself, with very few swing plane changes. A very simple action, but

:30:56.:30:58.

so effective. It was discussed a few years back,

:30:59.:31:09.

it was a fad. He was asked how many guys swing on one plane, he said he

:31:10.:31:15.

was the only one. He's the artist and engineer and I fancy his future.

:31:16.:31:19.

If there hadn't been for that seven at the 18th last night he would be

:31:20.:31:23.

in a better position setting off. Let's take you act out onto the

:31:24.:31:27.

course because this is Jordan Spieth's second to the first. This

:31:28.:31:31.

hole is on the backlift portion of the green, it is one that you cannot

:31:32.:31:36.

be left and make par and you don't want to belong either. That is a

:31:37.:31:40.

wise shot. He made a rare birdie yesterday, it was playing one of the

:31:41.:31:46.

hardest holes on the course. This is Rory's answer. Once again, left is

:31:47.:31:50.

dead here. He's held something off against the wind. They are not going

:31:51.:31:58.

to flirt with the left side. Up ahead at the 2nd, which played the

:31:59.:32:01.

easiest of all of the holes yesterday, yielded quite a few

:32:02.:32:06.

birdies and eagles. This is Hideki Matsuyama trying to become Japan's

:32:07.:32:10.

first male winner. This is for eagle. He is a terrific ball

:32:11.:32:15.

striker, putts well, has a couple of wins under his belt here recently.

:32:16.:32:18.

Wouldn't it be something if a Japanese player won the Masters

:32:19.:32:22.

one-day? It would be wonderful for the game of golf if you are a bit of

:32:23.:32:27.

a romantic which I occasionally am, Japan has put Summit into the game

:32:28.:32:31.

of golf, technology, clubs, golf balls and things like that. This is

:32:32.:32:35.

Jordan for birdie at the 1st. I should tell you Matt Siame made that

:32:36.:32:40.

tap in for a Burdisso he went 2-under, two behind Spieth. This is

:32:41.:32:46.

the overnight leader, and that one falls short. -- Matsuyama. He looks

:32:47.:32:52.

a bit different than he did last year, he looks a little bit further

:32:53.:32:57.

away, his arms are just a little bit higher, don't know if that is a

:32:58.:33:00.

conscious effort, he said he has been struggling with his putter.

:33:01.:33:03.

Last week he said he had to find something magical this week. He has

:33:04.:33:08.

five fewer putts than Rory and he is ahead of him. The third from the

:33:09.:33:12.

sand at the long par-5 2nd and that looks like a gimme for him, he's

:33:13.:33:20.

been very close, he led going into 2013's last day only to be overtaken

:33:21.:33:24.

in the end by Adam Scott and an hell Cabrera who fought out the play-off.

:33:25.:33:28.

He's played well over the last few months and has already won at pebble

:33:29.:33:33.

breach. Some pretty high winds that day as well. Snedeker also in the

:33:34.:33:39.

thick of things. He has moved to two under and he too is just two shots

:33:40.:33:44.

off the pace. He would have been a good guide to pick for the previous

:33:45.:33:47.

question about who you would like in the back of the pack because

:33:48.:33:51.

Snedeker camera and the tables. Back to the first, this is McIlroy with a

:33:52.:33:58.

birdie chance. And as he lines up the putt, we can hand to our

:33:59.:34:03.

commentary team. Something to watch for with Rory too is how he does on

:34:04.:34:07.

the greens with respect to speed. You get an indication when a player

:34:08.:34:12.

continues to come up short, he's misjudged it badly, when they come

:34:13.:34:15.

up short a lot he is a bit nervous, this is the first time he's come up

:34:16.:34:22.

left-hand lower cross handed and come up short. He's got to win the

:34:23.:34:26.

mental battles on the greens and trust what he's doing. This is new

:34:27.:34:31.

to him. Two very big putts. I will let you skedaddle back to the

:34:32.:34:37.

commentary position. Thank you very much, we are now officially underway

:34:38.:34:41.

with our host broadcaster's coverage. I will hand you to Andrew

:34:42.:34:46.

Cotter and Ken Brown. Enjoy, everyone. COMMENTATOR: Good

:34:47.:34:49.

afternoon, good evening everybody in the UK. This is a big putt, McIlroy

:34:50.:34:55.

to putt first, so much talk about putting styles. This is a big one

:34:56.:35:03.

for McIlroy. Very nicely done, he left himself a virtually straight

:35:04.:35:07.

uphill shot, par at the 1st is a good score because it is just a

:35:08.:35:15.

couple of birdies, and a couple of bogeys too. Nice one to start his

:35:16.:35:23.

round. 25 putts in the first round, Jordan Spieth. He has not had a

:35:24.:35:27.

great season by his high standards. We are talking about second syndrome

:35:28.:35:38.

season. This is just too far. When he gets to the close ones he will

:35:39.:35:43.

look at the hole as he plays the shot. Let's have a look at him.

:35:44.:35:55.

APPLAUSE Two fours for the final pairing.

:35:56.:36:07.

Par-5 to come. It is bright and sunny but there is a real spring in

:36:08.:36:14.

the air, blustery Brees. STUDIO: That is how it looks, with the 1st

:36:15.:36:18.

hole safely negotiated for Jurgen Spieth, the leader, and Rory

:36:19.:36:23.

McIlroy. Hideki Matsuyama it has made ground and so has Brandt

:36:24.:36:28.

Snedeker, in the trio at 2-under par. Bernhard Langer, great to see

:36:29.:36:32.

him still going well, 1-under, Smylie Kaufman still on the first

:36:33.:36:37.

page, Dustin Johnson level through five, Jason Day, world number one,

:36:38.:36:41.

level par today, 1-over for the tournament. Daniel Berger, who was

:36:42.:36:46.

the PGA Rookie of the Year last year, shot one of the four rounds

:36:47.:36:51.

under par yesterday, 71. Also reasonable progress for him, 1-over

:36:52.:36:59.

today. COMMENTATOR: See the record, six

:37:00.:37:03.

consecutive rounds with the outright lead, Arnold Palmer had that, one of

:37:04.:37:07.

his rounds was the share of the lead, back in the early 60s. 3-wood

:37:08.:37:13.

to try and get it moving right to left down the par-5 2nd, it swoops

:37:14.:37:25.

downhill to the left. Sit. Sit. It doesn't sit very often when it

:37:26.:37:31.

swings down there. It will just be all right, blocked out from the

:37:32.:37:36.

trees. There is a bunker down the right side, 300 yards to reach it,

:37:37.:37:42.

A320s5 to carry it. Rory might be able to do that. The wind is off the

:37:43.:37:48.

right, slightly helping, so he will go for one of his bazookas. -- 325

:37:49.:38:06.

to carry it. By a matter of yards. He birdied it in the first and

:38:07.:38:09.

second rounds but he will struggle to do so here. First look at Ian

:38:10.:38:22.

Poulter. Plus ten. Third shot to the 15th, pin at the front of the green,

:38:23.:38:26.

don't want to put too much spin on it. That is definitely in the water.

:38:27.:38:37.

Very tough, demanding day. Paul Casey, sizeable 4-iron of Casey to

:38:38.:38:43.

the 11. The pin on the right. If you get a cruel bounce like that it

:38:44.:38:49.

might be in the water. Stay there. It might hang on, Spieth's did in

:38:50.:38:51.

the first round. Quick, Paul! Lee Westwood going along quite

:38:52.:39:07.

nicely at just 5-over par. Down the hill. He's got the same problem, but

:39:08.:39:14.

hasn't got quite so much speed on it, should be all right, the greens

:39:15.:39:20.

are so fast this morning. STUDIO: They are. Perhaps we can get a

:39:21.:39:24.

measure of how quick they are, Louis Oosthuizen has come in with the

:39:25.:39:29.

first under par round of the day, 71. He has battled through the winds

:39:30.:39:33.

and slick greens. Let's get his reaction down in the interview area.

:39:34.:39:40.

Louis, how good a round was 71 today? Yes, it was tough. I felt

:39:41.:39:48.

like I've probably squeeze everything out of the course. You

:39:49.:39:55.

know, it has firmed up and I was starting on the back nine and it was

:39:56.:39:59.

chilly this morning when week T-Dot. We were going with 4-irons into the

:40:00.:40:09.

first. It seems the 7th hole is causing problems. -- when we teed

:40:10.:40:13.

off. Was that significantly difficult today? I have not seen

:40:14.:40:19.

that pin there. You're going with a lob wedge or a sand wedge and you

:40:20.:40:25.

are thinking there is a lot more wind. Me and Patrick did the wrong

:40:26.:40:31.

thing leaving it short in the bunker. The best we could do was 40

:40:32.:40:37.

feet away and made five and six. That is tough, it feels like you can

:40:38.:40:42.

take it on but if I have to play it again I will make sure I am long

:40:43.:40:46.

left. Looking at what is happening, the wind is blowing everywhere, are

:40:47.:40:49.

there any spots on the course where there is a little respite? No, it is

:40:50.:40:56.

tough. The golf course is playing really tough, the last three days.

:40:57.:41:01.

Today the wind is a little bit more north-west. Yesterday it was more

:41:02.:41:08.

West. So a few different ones. 18 is 4-iron, 5-iron today, it is a proper

:41:09.:41:16.

golf course. You need your ball striking to be pretty good today to

:41:17.:41:19.

manoeuvre it in the wind. Thank you for your time and good luck

:41:20.:41:27.

tomorrow. Thank you. COMMENTATOR: McIlroy on the second, reasonably

:41:28.:41:30.

far back, bit of an upslope, how far can he get? A bit of wind here.

:41:31.:41:44.

Laying up just short and left of that, there he is. The only one of

:41:45.:41:52.

the par fives where the wind helps today. That's why the wind direction

:41:53.:41:55.

is said to be most difficult because three of the par fives you are into

:41:56.:41:59.

it, par fives usually give you something on this course but they

:42:00.:42:05.

are more difficult. Snedeker up near the second green, good angle for the

:42:06.:42:09.

bunker shot, up the slope and he has played it well, very well. It might

:42:10.:42:14.

even start to run back, to give you an idea, they can sometimes trickle

:42:15.:42:21.

back. Delightfully played. Scott Piercy, the man from Las Vegas, just

:42:22.:42:31.

feathering it down there. It can lag from four feet at Augusta. Slightly

:42:32.:42:36.

longer than that but he will tap it in, I'm sure. The ball is well above

:42:37.:42:42.

his feet and the green around the time those left behind trees -- pine

:42:43.:42:55.

trees. The gap between the green and the bunker is about 80 yards. That

:42:56.:42:59.

is a marvellous shot, really terrific, the gap between the

:43:00.:43:02.

bunkers is about eight or nine yards and that is a delightful shot.

:43:03.:43:06.

Perfect spot to leave the putt, going straight uphill. -- eight

:43:07.:43:13.

yards. It is Jason Day who is far from out of this. Is this the 7th

:43:14.:43:23.

hole? In it goes for Jason Day. That was just for a par, but pars are

:43:24.:43:30.

golden today, almost like US Open style scoring today. Jason Day has

:43:31.:43:35.

had problems but not too far away, Jordan Spieth five shots better than

:43:36.:43:39.

the Australian at the moment. It will be worth keeping and I on the

:43:40.:43:43.

seventh pin, it is an absolute honey, so difficult -- keep an eye

:43:44.:43:50.

on the seventh. Rory's third, zipping this one away, must not go

:43:51.:43:55.

past the flag, most stop at the flag. Nice, very nice. Only four

:43:56.:44:02.

yards beyond the flag. It's like greased lightning. High-quality. One

:44:03.:44:04.

behind at the moment. Jamie Donaldson eagled the second,

:44:05.:44:19.

he holed a huge putt they're playing alongside Justin Rose. Wonderfully

:44:20.:44:26.

done by Donaldson. It's going to be a birdie. It will take him back to

:44:27.:44:28.

3-over, so just inside the top 20. Paul Casey will not be grounding his

:44:29.:44:45.

club to hide because it could easily roll back into the water, the 11th,

:44:46.:44:49.

his third shot to this tricky par for. From this angle he is actually

:44:50.:44:55.

putting up the hill. It is a pretty slow putt. -- pas par four. It

:44:56.:45:07.

popped off the putter face and it was a big quicker than he

:45:08.:45:13.

anticipated. Poulter has been in the water here at the 15th, so this is

:45:14.:45:19.

to drop just one on the par-5. Something. Two bogeys and a double

:45:20.:45:29.

bogey on the 14th for Ian Poulter. Quick, quick greens out there today,

:45:30.:45:33.

even quicker perhaps than they usually are. Ken has been out having

:45:34.:45:36.

a look. I've been to Augusta a few times and

:45:37.:45:40.

I don't think I've ever seen the greens looking so smooth and this

:45:41.:45:44.

morning they are unbelievably quick, with the wind it will be very

:45:45.:45:47.

tricky, the quality of the grass is amazing. It is like a parquet

:45:48.:45:52.

flooring with a green covering. It is superb. But they are so quick

:45:53.:45:56.

this morning and with wind this about I don't know that the ball

:45:57.:46:00.

might not blow about on the greens are bit if it gets any stronger. Let

:46:01.:46:05.

me give you an idea, this is 40 foot, more like 50 foot, how far I

:46:06.:46:10.

swing the putter to get the ball to trundle down the green. I will hit a

:46:11.:46:16.

couple. It is electrifying Lee fast. Little nudge like that, another

:46:17.:46:20.

little nudge like that and watch them going, you might think the ball

:46:21.:46:23.

would have stopped by now but they keep trickling, trickling,

:46:24.:46:28.

trickling, incredible, I almost putted it into the water, these

:46:29.:46:32.

greens are spooky, scary fast this morning and they will dry as the day

:46:33.:46:36.

goes by so the late starters, one or two of them, could be so difficult,

:46:37.:46:40.

they are fiendishly fast and so slippery.

:46:41.:46:43.

You looked troubled. Rose for an eagle on the 13th. That was this

:46:44.:46:52.

morning, they are drying out with the wind command by the end of play

:46:53.:46:55.

they will be very, very difficult indeed. -- with the wind, and by the

:46:56.:47:06.

end of the day they will be very difficult indeed. Justin Rose up the

:47:07.:47:09.

slope. Just a little ledge on the back corner of the green. Started

:47:10.:47:14.

with such promise but struggling a little bit. Now, Westwood, all the

:47:15.:47:22.

way across the length. One of the slower putts on the course uphill,

:47:23.:47:30.

and still didn't have to hit it too hard, lovely judge of pace.

:47:31.:47:40.

Using this pencil grip this week with his right hand, unusual grip,

:47:41.:47:52.

Garcia, and he gets one back. 5-over. It's not a good sign coming

:47:53.:47:57.

into the Masters and changing your butter and grip. With his coach

:47:58.:48:00.

David that is a big decision in the week. Good brisk swing of the

:48:01.:48:12.

putter, but the slope, this is for an eagle. He was dead I kick on the

:48:13.:48:18.

first day. Not as accurate yesterday on the greens. He has left himself

:48:19.:48:35.

not a terribly fanciable one. That is 4-under half, five feet on the

:48:36.:48:39.

wrong side of the cup I'd rather have Rory's putt rather than

:48:40.:48:45.

Spieth's now. Colourful galleries. Colourful galleries, great players,

:48:46.:48:48.

although Rory has gone slightly more figure hugging. You saw the way that

:48:49.:48:54.

Spieth's putt moved at the end, tailing off all the time once it

:48:55.:49:00.

went past the hole. This is slightly more appetising. It is not one to be

:49:01.:49:06.

brave at. Still pretty quick, there was a break to the left. I watched

:49:07.:49:11.

him on the putting green and he was going round the clock, putting five

:49:12.:49:16.

or six balls around the cup and starting from a yard and moving

:49:17.:49:20.

further away. It needs a delicate touch to send a message to his

:49:21.:49:27.

playing partner. GROANS FROM CROWD

:49:28.:49:32.

I don't think that was a bad putt. He quite liked what he had done with

:49:33.:49:37.

it. But look how far it has crept on. At this stage you think he has

:49:38.:49:44.

got it but somehow or another, oh dear, the wall of death. Back there

:49:45.:49:54.

in a moment, we will go to Matt Fitzpatrick, nobody coming into the

:49:55.:49:57.

third round had hit more greens in regulation but he was bottom of the

:49:58.:50:03.

putting stats. Third shot of the par-5, we will see lots of pitches

:50:04.:50:07.

up to this green. Yet of lead, difficult to reach in two into the

:50:08.:50:09.

wind. Day one, he holed these Farfan and

:50:10.:50:28.

yesterday he was struggling. This is another snorter with two or three

:50:29.:50:32.

inches of break, he needs to hit it firmly. For his birdie. Beautifully

:50:33.:50:39.

done, right in the middle. Spieth, for now, leading by two. McIlroy

:50:40.:50:44.

with a bit to do for his par. Far too early to develop into a

:50:45.:51:00.

Match Play situation, a long way to go in this tournament, but a great

:51:01.:51:08.

tussle between these two. Changing his parting grip, left below right.

:51:09.:51:16.

The final pairing both start four, five, par, par. Westwood at the 12

:51:17.:51:21.

hole today, 146 yards, straight over the middle bunker.

:51:22.:51:30.

Go right, be the one. The hopeful cry of the golfer, it was the one.

:51:31.:51:35.

You don't get much rapturous applause at the 12 because the

:51:36.:51:38.

spectators are so far away from the green. I bet we don't see a better

:51:39.:51:42.

one than that today. It was a fantastic shot with the wind

:51:43.:51:48.

swirling around. As you were saying, when you look at the 11 flag, it is

:51:49.:51:52.

invariably blowing in the opposite direction to the flag at the 12th

:51:53.:52:08.

green. 12 playing 146 yards. The pin is four yards over the front bunker

:52:09.:52:11.

and there is five odd yards behind it.

:52:12.:52:23.

We will leave them to their chat for a moment and head to the tee shot at

:52:24.:52:28.

the 3rd of the leader. Oh my, that is Miles right. He needs

:52:29.:52:54.

a bit of luck here. Playing directly into the breeze, this short par

:52:55.:52:59.

four. 350 yards, and he's got ahead of one. Casey and Tom McLaren have

:53:00.:53:03.

come to a decision. Everything down the left, hitting a

:53:04.:53:31.

fade, left to right shot, holding onto the shoulder of the fairway.

:53:32.:53:44.

That is an awkward distance from that bunker. The pin is on the front

:53:45.:53:52.

right corner, there is hardly any green to play with behind the pin.

:53:53.:53:55.

To get close to the flag you almost have to go beyond it and spin back.

:53:56.:54:00.

This is where Snedeker is playing from up to this pin.

:54:01.:54:07.

You have almost got to go off the green at the back when coming from

:54:08.:54:13.

where McIlroy is and hope it skips back out of the first cut of rough.

:54:14.:54:21.

The chance to see where the flag is cut on the 14th. Rows with his

:54:22.:54:30.

second. -- Rose. This should be perfect. This should be absolutely

:54:31.:54:38.

lovely. It is about two yards by two yards and he's got it on it. Ian

:54:39.:54:46.

Poulter has reached the 16th. 156 today. You can just see the flag

:54:47.:54:55.

right on the right-hand side. It is not very far, but if you don't

:54:56.:55:01.

get... He is not enjoying this one that all. That is a horrible shot he

:55:02.:55:08.

has left himself. He won't be enjoying that one either, that is a

:55:09.:55:16.

horror he has left himself there. The lovely third shot that

:55:17.:55:28.

Fitzpatrick hit in here. He improved on his debut last year. He missed

:55:29.:55:41.

the cut. Rolls it forward into the heart of the cup. Three bogeys on

:55:42.:55:47.

his card and a couple of birdies, four over. He is right in there

:55:48.:55:54.

still. From one Sheffield man to another, Danny Willett.

:55:55.:56:02.

GROANS FROM CROWD He started with a dropped shot on

:56:03.:56:14.

the first and bogeyed the fourth as well. He will tap that in four a

:56:15.:56:23.

par, back to 2-over for the tournament, still good enough to be

:56:24.:56:24.

tied in 15th for the moment. Rose for his birdie at the 14th,

:56:25.:56:39.

just outside the right age. Yes, perfect pace, wriggling in the side

:56:40.:56:47.

door, so back-to-back birdies for Justin.

:56:48.:56:52.

-- the right age. Bernhard Langer, 58, and not too far-away. This is

:56:53.:57:06.

for birdie on the eighth. That is astonishing, 1-under par, tied in

:57:07.:57:12.

fifth place, just four behind Jordan Spieth, 85, 93.

:57:13.:57:20.

He is a winning machine, he won his 26th Champions Tour victory earlier

:57:21.:57:24.

in the season, and despite the fact he's obviously had to reinvent his

:57:25.:57:27.

putting stroke once again with the anchoring and he's up there at 58 in

:57:28.:57:34.

a tie for fifth place four shots off the lead. He challenged here a

:57:35.:57:37.

couple of years ago, great to see the old fellow here doing well.

:57:38.:57:43.

It is quite something. Jason Day to get back to level par. The world

:57:44.:57:52.

number one was going so well on the first, got to 5-under par, and then

:57:53.:57:58.

stubble is on the back nine. Has he been fortunate? Let's listen in.

:57:59.:58:11.

He has a gap and he is swishing like he's going to have a swish at it but

:58:12.:58:21.

it looks awkward. Wouldn't be too bad if he could shunt it up there

:58:22.:58:25.

somewhere. The pin one fall, love at the front of the green, if the lawns

:58:26.:58:31.

it it is a fantastic shot, look where the flag is. He's missed the

:58:32.:58:44.

green in regulation. Let's see what his lie is like, not a bad lie

:58:45.:58:45.

either. It's going to keep running, but an

:58:46.:59:03.

excellent effort. There is a lot of arming and eyeing but coming back up

:59:04.:59:08.

the slope, that's a pretty good miss if you are going to miss the green.

:59:09.:59:17.

Let's see how McIlroy copes with this one, taking the spin of it.

:59:18.:59:24.

Don't want to have too much spin on that coming all the way back.

:59:25.:59:35.

That had so much on it. He would have to land that ten yards over the

:59:36.:59:44.

green for that to work. What a difficult shot he has left himself

:59:45.:59:51.

now. I think he can only play the ballooned lob shot. Snedeker,

:59:52.:59:59.

quickfire putter. He will slip back to 1-under.

:00:00.:00:06.

Not anchoring, it's a very unusual parting style he's using, he's still

:00:07.:00:15.

using the long putter but not anchoring. That is still allowed.

:00:16.:00:19.

That was worth having another look at. It's his 33rd consecutive

:00:20.:00:28.

Masters. Bryson, this is for par. Nicely done. You can see a bit of a

:00:29.:00:37.

glaze on the greens, quick, quick. A couple of dropped shots on the first

:00:38.:00:39.

three holes, but 1-over par. This one playing at 241 yards,

:00:40.:00:58.

virtually straight into the breeze. Oh, it has gone down the bluff. If

:00:59.:01:08.

he had used anything like a 4-wood and got it in the air... Looking to

:01:09.:01:23.

bump this in... It will start to roll away... It is just so, so

:01:24.:01:36.

difficult. KEN BROWN: I would like to introduce

:01:37.:01:43.

two other members of the common treating, Paul Azinger, and of

:01:44.:01:44.

course, Peter Ellis! PETER ALLISS: Thank you, Ken. Just a

:01:45.:01:52.

chance to see Matthew Fitzpatrick promises to be one of the great

:01:53.:01:55.

stars of the next ten-15 years. PAUL AZINGER: Jordan Spieth, I think

:01:56.:02:11.

he did a good job of avoiding putting it down where Rory ended up.

:02:12.:02:22.

This is actually a lot better than where Rory was. You have still got

:02:23.:02:27.

to get the speed right. He must feel good or he would not be using this

:02:28.:02:31.

club. He has got his nerves in check. A lot of guys might putt this

:02:32.:02:43.

one. He has got a bit of a lofted club as well. Will probably tried to

:02:44.:02:45.

fly it halfway there. Oh, that had a lot of chatter on it!

:02:46.:02:59.

Still not a gimme, but super shot for Jordan Spieth.

:03:00.:03:11.

PETER ALLISS: Matsuyama at 5th for a birdie. It really is a frightening

:03:12.:03:27.

day for putting on these greens, with the wind, and the speed they

:03:28.:03:33.

are. Lee Westwood, going for it in two. He has got to get it over the

:03:34.:03:41.

creek. Will it get up the hill? Not quite. Super shot. Such a dangerous

:03:42.:03:48.

shot at 13. It will just trickle off a bit. He will be happy with it,

:03:49.:03:59.

though. Eagle chance for Westwood. Behind to the 3rd, McIlory, after a

:04:00.:04:02.

well struck tee-shot, which just found the bunker, now he has got 6-7

:04:03.:04:12.

yards for par. Easy to 3-putt from here if you get a bit too bold. Big

:04:13.:04:20.

swing, very fast. This is one of the fastest putts on the whole golf

:04:21.:04:28.

course, Peter, with loads of swing left to right.

:04:29.:04:37.

Oh, just too short. Brilliant putt, really. It is another shot dropped

:04:38.:04:56.

to Spieth, if Spieth can pop is in. Scott Piercy, now he has got to

:04:57.:05:23.

pitch back up the hill. He has got to be careful - this will come right

:05:24.:05:25.

back to him. Oh, it stayed! Spieth now for a par to increase his

:05:26.:05:45.

lead. He is a bit fidgety at the moment, a bit more than usual. But

:05:46.:06:00.

if it goes in, all is OK. And it is. So he starts with three fours.

:06:01.:06:24.

4-5-5. -- McIlroy, 4-5-5. Well, what about that? You mark your ball, you

:06:25.:06:31.

walk up to it, you do not get within 4ft, a touch of wind comes and blows

:06:32.:06:36.

it in the water! Well, I do not know about that. He did not cause the

:06:37.:06:41.

birds to move. We will see what happens in a minute. Jason Day...

:06:42.:06:48.

Jason had a monster tee-shot to get it all the way down the hill. Now,

:06:49.:06:53.

just a little sand wedge. We may see a few birdies here at the 9th today.

:06:54.:07:00.

One of the few wedge opportunities the players will get. Scott Piercy

:07:01.:07:11.

for par. Looks good... Oh! Dropped shot. Frustrating, disappointing.

:07:12.:07:28.

I must say, this is where the rules of golf become very confusing. He

:07:29.:07:35.

put it on the green, the wind blew it in the water, and now he has been

:07:36.:07:38.

penalised for that. I do not understand that. That's why the game

:07:39.:07:43.

for me gets a bit crazy. He did nothing to cause the ball to move. I

:07:44.:07:54.

don't know, the game has gone crook. Westwood for eagle here at the 13th.

:07:55.:08:02.

Not given it quite enough. But that should be a pretty routine birdie.

:08:03.:08:12.

The 16th, Fitzpatrick, just off the green, but on the flat bit. Oh, that

:08:13.:08:20.

was a bit of a scuff. He just caught the ground behind the ball a bit.

:08:21.:08:36.

PAUL AZINGER: Jordan Spieth has saddled on a long-iron here. It will

:08:37.:08:42.

have to be quite something to carry the bunker. You can see the flag

:08:43.:08:51.

between the two traps. 241 yards, right into the teeth of the breeze.

:08:52.:09:00.

And another one handle. That could be in serious trouble. Oh, we saw

:09:01.:09:12.

Mickelson do that a year or two ago! That is a stroke of massive good

:09:13.:09:20.

fortune. That is two in a row, Peter, where he has let go of the

:09:21.:09:27.

club on full swing. Not sure if Joe is just getting under it a bit more

:09:28.:09:33.

than normal, but... He has got to figure something out quick. Now,

:09:34.:09:38.

McIlroy needs to hit this green, get it within 7-8 yards, if he can. He

:09:39.:09:50.

is going left as well. Good God! That is the way to play the hole,

:09:51.:09:51.

obviously! It has been a scruffy game so far.

:09:52.:10:14.

Jason Day hit a massive tee-shot on the 9th and a beautiful wedge to

:10:15.:10:19.

hear. Straight down the hill! And all of a sudden, Jason Day is making

:10:20.:10:30.

a little move up the leaderboard. This was lying at the 9th for a par,

:10:31.:10:37.

coming up the hill. Just a little bit of swing on it. He did not quite

:10:38.:10:39.

do it. Expected it to go. This will be Westwood's second putt

:10:40.:11:11.

at 13 for birdie. Yes. Jamie Donaldson. Five over, pitching up to

:11:12.:11:15.

the 15th. Study, study... I will be interested

:11:16.:11:28.

to see what happened with Mr Horschel. I think you should be

:11:29.:11:32.

writing to the New York Times, appealing, if they have penalised

:11:33.:11:40.

him. -- he should be. Shane Lowry at the 7th. Got to be careful with this

:11:41.:11:47.

one. This is the highest green, most exposed hole location. He barely

:11:48.:11:50.

touched it and it has still gone 3ft by.

:11:51.:11:57.

HAZEL IRVINE: Here is the situation early in this third round. The

:11:58.:12:05.

leaders are now playing the 4th. Jordan Spieth now has that

:12:06.:12:09.

three-shot advantage over Rory McIlory. Bernhard Langer just

:12:10.:12:15.

dropped a shot, one under for his round and now five behind. Jason Day

:12:16.:12:28.

has got back to level par for the day.

:12:29.:12:38.

Danny Willett, one overthrew six today. -- one over through six

:12:39.:12:53.

today. New dad Danny Willett giving a very good account of himself this

:12:54.:13:01.

week in his second Masters. Louis Oosthuizen, 71 for the 2010 Open

:13:02.:13:14.

champion. Justin Rose, two over having played 14. . Him at the

:13:15.:13:15.

15th... Jordan Spieth pitching up at the

:13:16.:14:05.

4th. Well, we had two very misdirected tee shots. Snedeker, we

:14:06.:14:12.

have seen him missing a couple in a row now. Now, Rory has just got to

:14:13.:14:18.

click this. Not an overly difficult shot. -- clip.

:14:19.:14:25.

They say the conditions are going to get easier towards the end of the

:14:26.:14:52.

day. They do not appear to be getting any easier at the moment.

:14:53.:14:53.

The greens are lightning fast. PAUL AZINGER: Jamie Donaldson. Only

:14:54.:15:17.

has to breathe on, it will reach the hole. Now, look at it go... Four

:15:18.:15:27.

yards short of that pin, will not stay on the green. Easily the most

:15:28.:15:30.

dangerous hole location on the course, here at 15. Something to

:15:31.:15:37.

watch for as the day goes on. See how the leaders play the 15th.

:15:38.:15:49.

Big putt here for Jordan Spieth, I feel, Peter. Well, he has holed a

:15:50.:15:57.

couple of nice once already. The way he has been jumping about, he has

:15:58.:16:00.

given the impression of being a bit nervous. But he has got the job

:16:01.:16:07.

done. If he can hole this, it would be rather unsettling for McIlory. On

:16:08.:16:15.

every green so far, he has holed something.

:16:16.:16:25.

And he has done it again. It is magical stuff.

:16:26.:16:34.

McIlory faced with a putt from 4ft. He has already dropped two behind so

:16:35.:16:48.

far. Look at the shine on the greens now. You can tell the moisture has

:16:49.:16:55.

been pulled right out of the greens. Is the day goes on, they will get

:16:56.:17:01.

quicker and drier. McIlory... In she goes. Two adventurous threes, but

:17:02.:17:16.

threes they were. And on they go. Justin Rose, back up the hill at 15

:17:17.:17:25.

for a to Pat and for a par. Made it look easy.

:17:26.:17:42.

Lee Westwood in the light rough, second shot. Just had a couple of

:17:43.:17:51.

birdies at 12 and 13 of that could be good, if it stops... It has.

:17:52.:18:03.

Steady... Almost like playing an Arnold Palmer

:18:04.:18:20.

pitch and putt course this, past the castle and end up near the hole! As

:18:21.:18:33.

a player, you have got to win the mental battles. He double-bogeyed

:18:34.:18:37.

this hole yesterday's after a poor tee-shot. Actually, he four parted

:18:38.:18:43.

here yet the day, now that I think about it. The wind is hard off the

:18:44.:18:48.

right side. Most right-handers love this wind. He is taking a 3-wood.

:18:49.:18:54.

These bunkers were put in maybe ten years ago. Now, you have to be more

:18:55.:19:01.

precise here at the 5th - one of the hardest holes on the golf course.

:19:02.:19:12.

That is perfect. Through the trees, you can see the cars, the road that

:19:13.:19:16.

goes by. The club have bought all of that property up there over the last

:19:17.:19:23.

two or three years. Now, McIlory. Also with a 3-wood, it looks.

:19:24.:19:25.

Certainly not a driver. That needs to come left a bit. And

:19:26.:19:42.

it has. Beauty. Pitched 20-30 yards past Spieth.

:19:43.:19:59.

The marvellous swing of Jason Day after a monster tee-shot. I don't

:20:00.:20:05.

know that I have ever seen a ball that far! Look where he hit that

:20:06.:20:17.

from! Downwind and a little right to left, with the help of the hill, but

:20:18.:20:21.

goodness gracious, that is miles down there. Bernhard Langer, level

:20:22.:20:34.

par. Wonderful achievement. And that should stay... Yes.

:20:35.:20:45.

PAUL AZINGER: Danny Willett now at the 7th. We saw one from closer to

:20:46.:20:53.

this going 50ft past the hole earlier today. Beautiful putt by

:20:54.:20:57.

Danny Willett! What a bonus, birdies at six and

:20:58.:21:20.

seven. The people up on the right there, such a colourful scene. Blue

:21:21.:21:24.

sky, frisky wind. And Justin Rose... Westwood for birdie at 14 after he

:21:25.:21:55.

hit that shot that went up and around and down and... Another

:21:56.:22:03.

birdie for Lee Westwood. Solid round, three in a row!

:22:04.:22:14.

PETER ALLISS: Jamie Donaldson playing with Justin Rose. He is

:22:15.:22:17.

waiting for something. They are just deciding.

:22:18.:22:30.

They are still looking for inspiration. Or that is what it says

:22:31.:22:36.

on his sweater. Can he do it? The flag is almost in a direct line

:22:37.:22:51.

with the middle of that back bunker on the right. The swirly wind and

:22:52.:23:00.

the elevations here make it very tricky indeed. It is hard to be

:23:01.:23:02.

positive. He likes it, does he...? And it is

:23:03.:23:16.

gone... This would make a little noise, if

:23:17.:23:40.

Jason Day can hole this putt. Oh, no, he has not hit it. Opportunity

:23:41.:23:48.

lost there. Two wonderful shots to get to that point. Very much alive,

:23:49.:23:55.

though, Jason Day. Back in the picture now. To the 5th, and Jordan

:23:56.:24:03.

Spieth. Well, it might have been in a worse

:24:04.:24:23.

place than that. Now, McIlory. Same thing. Both of them with quite

:24:24.:24:45.

serious misjudgements there - at least half a club, maybe a full club

:24:46.:24:49.

out. Not threatening the hole. Langer just a moment ago, up the

:24:50.:25:09.

hill for birdie here at ten. Out-driven by 60 yards here by Jason

:25:10.:25:17.

Day! But they made the same score. The ageless Bernhard Langer. It is

:25:18.:25:23.

really impressive that he can continue on. He made a comment the

:25:24.:25:31.

other day, he has won 99 tournaments but he acts and prepares as if he

:25:32.:25:38.

has never won one. And he does not hit the ball very high! DeChambeau,

:25:39.:25:43.

boldly and the flag. And look at that! Sometimes it does the right

:25:44.:25:57.

thing and sometimes it doesn't. Kjeldsen, down the hill at six, 180

:25:58.:26:03.

eight yards. Pin all the way back left. You took a judge to! --

:26:04.:26:14.

beautifully judged! Donaldson with this long putt forced you hardly

:26:15.:26:17.

ever see anyone going past the hole here.

:26:18.:26:25.

Kjeldsen to finish it off - and he has done it. He gets to level par.

:26:26.:26:41.

Justin Rose, putting from just off the green here at the 16th. It will

:26:42.:26:48.

move downhill from right to left. Oh, what a bonus. What a bonus that

:26:49.:26:50.

was! One birdie, umpteen other bits and

:26:51.:27:10.

pieces. Same coming home, really. DeChambeau... He has missed a few of

:27:11.:27:15.

those, this week. Here you get some idea of the slope

:27:16.:27:30.

on the green at the 5th. Fitzpatrick has had to clear away the trippers.

:27:31.:27:37.

Folding chairs. Bumps it down the hill and it staggered onto the

:27:38.:27:43.

green. It did better than I thought. Very tricky shot. Bit harder and it

:27:44.:27:49.

could have ended up all the way down the bottom.

:27:50.:28:05.

They would have hit this putt many times in practice. I think Rory is

:28:06.:28:15.

asking Jordan to move his coin. This one will gather pace as it heads

:28:16.:28:23.

towards the left side of the green. Well, 21 players have finished so

:28:24.:28:30.

far, and only one player, Oosthuizen, has broken par, going

:28:31.:28:33.

round in 71. That gives you some idea of the difficult conditions

:28:34.:28:37.

here. 71 is going to be a wonderful score. Anyone breaking 70, that will

:28:38.:28:42.

be a huge bonus. It is very unlikely to happen, unless the wind dies

:28:43.:28:48.

away. Play will go on until roundabout midnight your time, in

:28:49.:28:54.

the UK. May be a bit after. That will be seven o'clock here, local

:28:55.:28:59.

time. I wonder if Rory will go left hand low here on the longer putt. It

:29:00.:29:05.

is quite a bit harder to judge if it is something that is new to you. And

:29:06.:29:10.

this style is new to Rory. Can he judge the speed on the long ones...?

:29:11.:29:21.

And he has done a beautiful job! Did he make it...? Oh, great effort!

:29:22.:29:34.

That is a gift. You know you have practised from there, you prepare as

:29:35.:29:37.

much as you can for that hole location, you know it will be there.

:29:38.:29:42.

What a gift. Physical geniuses, all of these guys.

:29:43.:29:48.

Matsuyama now at seven, and this is a very dangerous putt. Look at how

:29:49.:30:10.

fast this is... KEN BROWN: A very similar putt for

:30:11.:30:40.

Jordan Spieth as Rory has just had. Look where he is aiming. Even

:30:41.:30:45.

further right than Rory did. One thing I have noticed so far,

:30:46.:31:04.

especially yesterday, Jordan has managed to hole almost all of those.

:31:05.:31:20.

These ones are the little knee-knockers that Augusta National

:31:21.:31:21.

is famous for. It is that in between range, maybe

:31:22.:31:32.

it's too far-away, you have to have such nerve. I never thought I'd see

:31:33.:31:40.

the day when the number one in the world, now the number two, couldn't

:31:41.:31:44.

hit the -- look at the ball when he hits. He is going to look at the

:31:45.:31:56.

hole. He does. Yes. It's all been a little bit scrappy for Spieth but

:31:57.:32:00.

his card says he is 1-under par, and that's outstanding. Mega- talent,

:32:01.:32:06.

Dustin Johnson, after a massive tee shot at nine. Pretty easy hole

:32:07.:32:10.

location from there. Good shot. 18th. Well done, Matthew Fitzpatrick

:32:11.:32:42.

just sneaks it in the side door. 37 out, steady Eddie, 37 back, 74, not

:32:43.:32:49.

bad, average score today 76 so far. A good round tomorrow and he could

:32:50.:32:55.

have his hand in the cookie jar. The ageless wonder, Bernhard Langer.

:32:56.:32:59.

Look at the sweet spot on his club, the perfect circle on the clubface.

:33:00.:33:11.

Treacherous hole location, that is a bailout. Let's look at Amen Corner

:33:12.:33:16.

with Ken Brown. You never know what you find at Amen Corner, these

:33:17.:33:22.

gentlemen are here for a 50th anniversary, first time here. I'm

:33:23.:33:26.

going to show them what Amen Corner is because at home it's hard to get

:33:27.:33:31.

the geography. Here we go, this is the 11th, the second shot comes down

:33:32.:33:36.

the hill to hear, that is number 11, then you walk back up the hill to 12

:33:37.:33:41.

across the creek, and then 13 comes back this way, the par-5. This is

:33:42.:33:49.

Amen Corner, the turn around the corner of these three holes and it

:33:50.:33:53.

was Herbert Warren wind that coined the phrase, Amen Corner. He wrote it

:33:54.:33:58.

in an article in Sports Illustrated in 1958 and that's how they got the

:33:59.:34:02.

name Amen Corner. These fellows are out here to see the action for the

:34:03.:34:06.

first time and see how tricky the 12th is. It is a really nasty brute.

:34:07.:34:13.

What do you reckon, lads? Have a great time. Brilliant, thanks, Ken.

:34:14.:34:27.

Good old Ken, making more friends. Birdies very read at number nine

:34:28.:34:36.

today. Three so far. Is it? It must! It must... It looks like more than

:34:37.:34:46.

half of the ball is hanging over the edge. Those are killers.

:34:47.:34:59.

That counts just as much as a 300 yard drive. He does plenty of those

:35:00.:35:06.

as well. Good outward nine Ford Dustin Johnson. Jordan Spieth, Amber

:35:07.:35:15.

Hill at the 188 yard sixth, the easiest hole location on the course.

:35:16.:35:20.

Not that there is anything easy about it. -- down the hill. Well,

:35:21.:35:35.

now. That grass is so sticky at Augusta National it comes straight

:35:36.:35:39.

down the hill from there. But as my look at the 6th, I'd say it drops to

:35:40.:35:43.

20-30 feet down to the putting surface. The ball flies right over

:35:44.:35:48.

the whole on show of the patrons on the Hill just off the tee. We can

:35:49.:35:56.

have a look at them here, there they are. You cannot see them when you

:35:57.:36:00.

are seeing off but they are there. Rory Mcllroy, now. He has a higher

:36:01.:36:09.

trajectory, Rory. This will come down softer. It has skidded a

:36:10.:36:13.

little, settled a bit too quickly, but under the cup will stop at the

:36:14.:36:17.

start of the week the greens looked pretty green and lush at they are

:36:18.:36:19.

looking a bit parched now. Jason Day on 11 after another

:36:20.:36:47.

massive tee shot. This is just a short iron. The bailout is to the

:36:48.:36:54.

right. He may have caught the little dust. This is where the wind swirls

:36:55.:37:02.

the most. Very awkward pin at the 15th today on the front right of the

:37:03.:37:07.

green, eight on and five from the right, you've got to be very

:37:08.:37:11.

careful. This is Westwood's third, and he's playing it from the chairs.

:37:12.:37:23.

It is even more awkward. Nice. Very professional, and old pro's shot

:37:24.:37:27.

there, taking the least amount of risk. We saw Bernhard Langer bail

:37:28.:37:37.

out of the right on 11. The grass is so sticky going up the hill, and

:37:38.:37:43.

then it just gets scary fast. Well judged. Settle. Yeah. There are a

:37:44.:37:51.

couple of sprinkler heads there. In that grass it is beautifully judged,

:37:52.:37:56.

because once you hit the green it is all downhill, down Brees. What is

:37:57.:38:09.

the key to this little shocked? -- down Brees. You got to be able to

:38:10.:38:18.

control your spin. You've got to make the right decision here, how

:38:19.:38:22.

much will it skip forward? Four yards short and it will go back in

:38:23.:38:27.

the water. It's got to be hit perfectly. That was safety first,

:38:28.:38:41.

for sure. Perfect into the breeze, so little margin for error. Just a

:38:42.:38:52.

little upslope, and then the green plays from right to left. He's got a

:38:53.:39:07.

chance, wonderful effortful stop Louis Oosthuizen, best score in the

:39:08.:39:18.

house, 1-under par. This will give us a chance to see how quick this

:39:19.:39:22.

is. Easy. , easy. Soren Kjeldsen, down the slope. This

:39:23.:39:35.

is like going down the face of the Eiger, or down a glacier. It has

:39:36.:39:45.

trickled on. Sit down. What a lovely touch. One of the few putts you can

:39:46.:40:01.

be aggressive on, Miss judged to break a little bit but that is OK.

:40:02.:40:11.

Just a routine par for Rory at the 6th. Danny Willett over a little

:40:12.:40:18.

crest on the green, down the other side. Birdies at six and seven, and

:40:19.:40:27.

I'm not sure how that stayed out for Willett. Velvety touch. The

:40:28.:40:37.

challenge here is to get the speed right coming off the collar, onto

:40:38.:40:46.

the icy putting surface. It will have a little bit of breakdown

:40:47.:40:54.

towards the front of the green. He hashed it, and this is another putt

:40:55.:41:01.

where he hasn't been able to make a guinea 2-putt. That is a good five

:41:02.:41:11.

feet by. -- gimme. The mystery of the 12th, he's doing his Jonny

:41:12.:41:18.

Wilkinson, Jason Day. The 12th is only playing 146 yards, but such a

:41:19.:41:22.

narrow portion of the green, over the bunker, 9-iron. Get left. He's

:41:23.:41:34.

worried about it. If he had pitched it on the rake it would have come

:41:35.:41:38.

back into the water, so no wonder he wanted it to go left to go back into

:41:39.:41:43.

the sand. Looked to be aiming a bit to the right, maybe trying to get

:41:44.:41:50.

into that hole at the 12th. Jordan Spieth has a good six or seven feet

:41:51.:41:58.

left at least. He has holed all of these today. Jordan came out early,

:41:59.:42:08.

good three hours before his round, and hit lots of putts and went back

:42:09.:42:09.

to the clubhouse. What a putt, dead centre, perfect

:42:10.:42:27.

speed. Total control right now. Three shots clear of the nearest

:42:28.:42:38.

challenger, Rory Mcllroy. After day one there were 20 players under par,

:42:39.:42:46.

just four left now. I gave Rory this but it is a little longer than I

:42:47.:42:47.

thought. Kjeldsen up the slope here. What a

:42:48.:43:15.

wonderful up and down, he made a tricky shot look so easy, even par.

:43:16.:43:24.

Langer now at the 12th, 146 yards, swirling breeze. The hole is cut

:43:25.:43:32.

right over the bunker. Oh! GROANS FROM CROWD

:43:33.:43:39.

Now, that hit high on the lip and probably rolled back to the

:43:40.:43:42.

downslope of that bunker. That will be a really difficult shot.

:43:43.:43:48.

The front of the clubhouse where the people get their photograph taken.

:43:49.:43:50.

There is always a big queue. 7-iron, the 16th only playing 156

:43:51.:44:07.

yards gives you an idea of the strength of the breeze. He will only

:44:08.:44:16.

hit that about 170. That's exquisite, just a little three

:44:17.:44:20.

quarters, kept it low, bit of cut spin, feathers it onto the little

:44:21.:44:22.

ledge. We will see what Paul Casey can do

:44:23.:44:40.

here. Perfectly quiet, not a sound. He gives it a twirl, we will see

:44:41.:44:45.

what that means. It means he loved it. Just a little long, good shot!

:44:46.:44:55.

Very narrow fairway at the 7th, straightaway hole, you can see the

:44:56.:45:03.

green in the distance there. Another one right. This is going way right

:45:04.:45:13.

too, he needed a bit of luck, he was lucky on the third, will he be lucky

:45:14.:45:18.

again? This is the hardest hole on the course today. He had virtually

:45:19.:45:21.

no chance to get the ball on the green from there. If McIlroy bombs

:45:22.:45:24.

this and gets fairway he will have nothing but a sand wedge into this

:45:25.:45:38.

green. He just let it eat. That is massive. It is a wonderful shot,

:45:39.:45:43.

sloping fairway. Scott Piercy down this slope. Watch

:45:44.:45:48.

this one. This is Jason Day. This will be all

:45:49.:46:12.

you can handle. Langer has already played out and couldn't get it on

:46:13.:46:16.

the green. He may be a little on the upslope. Did you hear that? That's

:46:17.:46:19.

the best you can do. This was Langer moments ago, hanging

:46:20.:46:34.

lie, rather unlucky that it went back. If Bernhard Langer cannot get

:46:35.:46:42.

it out of here no one can, he is a master from the sand and a master

:46:43.:46:43.

tactician. Over to the eighth, Matsuyama for an

:46:44.:46:58.

eagle. We have not seen many players get onto this green in two. Well

:46:59.:47:02.

judged there. APPLAUSE

:47:03.:47:06.

Matsuyama is making his move, that will get him to two under if he can

:47:07.:47:11.

convert that a man that would be so low third, just three shots behind

:47:12.:47:13.

Jordan Spieth. Paul Casey for his two. Must be,

:47:14.:47:34.

surely. Trying to get away but eventually gets gathered up by the

:47:35.:47:43.

cup, goes to four over, two over today. Big strong arms, he plays

:47:44.:47:48.

mainly on the PGA Tour these days in the United States. This was West

:47:49.:47:53.

just moments ago much it will give you a sense of just how quick this

:47:54.:47:59.

putt is. You have hit a lovely shot in here and all of a sudden you have

:48:00.:48:03.

got to play defence on the greens. Just barely touched it.

:48:04.:48:20.

The same putt as Soren Kjeldsen, dead straight up the hill. Well done

:48:21.:48:31.

for Scott Piercy, 1-under. 37 years of age, from Las Vegas.

:48:32.:48:43.

Bernhard in right behind watching every little movement at the end of

:48:44.:49:04.

the path of the putt. Dustin Johnson at ten for birdie.

:49:05.:49:59.

This would move Dustin Johnson to 1-under par. No, two really great

:50:00.:50:05.

missed opportunities back-to-back for Dustin. Now Jordan's tee shot

:50:06.:50:12.

which flew into the pine straw has come to here. Unlikely for him to

:50:13.:50:26.

put it on the green. Now we come to Justin Rose's second shot.

:50:27.:50:35.

He missed by a couple of yards, from being on top.

:50:36.:50:48.

Is he going round, or just over that branch? Must be going over by the

:50:49.:50:58.

amount of loft on the club, in between, trying to cut it, always

:50:59.:51:03.

difficult with the ball coming out of the light rough. He finds what is

:51:04.:51:12.

one of the deeper bunkers. Matsuyama now to clean up his little birdie

:51:13.:51:17.

putt at eight this would put him in a tie for second with Rory. Yes,

:51:18.:51:24.

sir. Now, what is worried going to try

:51:25.:51:32.

and do, pitch past the flag and try and screw back? This should be, just

:51:33.:51:39.

a bit more, that is a little unlucky, straight down the slope,

:51:40.:51:45.

exactly what he was trying to do, pitch it passed and spin back a

:51:46.:51:48.

little. It is a gift to put that much spin on it in the wind.

:51:49.:51:54.

Bernhard Langer got a good look at Jason Day's putt. This is for par.

:51:55.:52:05.

Oh no. STUDIO: Earlier we saw this incident

:52:06.:52:10.

with Florida's Billy Horschel at the 15th. He was just sizing up this

:52:11.:52:15.

putt and it blows off the green. Straight into the water hazard. A

:52:16.:52:21.

fair bit of confusion, it seems terribly unfair but he was forced to

:52:22.:52:25.

take a drop and would eventually sign for eight six, as he is

:52:26.:52:31.

summoning the rules official. He came home with a round of 73. Let's

:52:32.:52:35.

get his version of events of what exactly went on here.

:52:36.:52:40.

Billy, if you don't mind starting of taking us through 15, it appeared to

:52:41.:52:44.

be awful luck for you. Yes, it was, I played a really good

:52:45.:52:48.

round at even par, a chance to finish from the post under par

:52:49.:52:52.

round, hit a decent shot over the water so I could play it after my

:52:53.:52:56.

second shot, hit a good chip and didn't play enough break, it was

:52:57.:53:00.

only eight feet below the hole on a flat spot, another three feet it

:53:01.:53:05.

would go off the green. But I knew it was stopped, it was my turn to

:53:06.:53:11.

putt. I put my ball down and walked around, and I was looking at the

:53:12.:53:16.

break and everything, lining it up, and the next thing I know a really

:53:17.:53:22.

strong gust came and blew the ball about a foot to two and caught a

:53:23.:53:26.

slope and it went all the way into the water. It was unfortunate, I

:53:27.:53:30.

played really well today and for that to happen and have a chance to

:53:31.:53:34.

go under who knows what would have happened on the last three holes if

:53:35.:53:39.

I made birdie there. Unfortunate situation. Things happen, bad luck.

:53:40.:53:43.

Hopefully, whether the luck comes back my way tomorrow or if it comes

:53:44.:53:48.

back down the road I know I have something coming my way.

:53:49.:53:56.

COMMENTATOR: 73 for Billy Horschel. Can he produce some more magic out

:53:57.:54:00.

of the sand? He must make a decision whether he wants to take a chance.

:54:01.:54:05.

When I say take a chance, that is to skim the collar under the putting

:54:06.:54:08.

surface. It might not be worth the risk. He could go where Rory's was

:54:09.:54:17.

and see if it comes back from there. Let's see what he tries. That had

:54:18.:54:21.

such a good sound and there is nothing you can do, that is gone.

:54:22.:54:35.

He thought he could manage to get it to grip. As it comes out of the

:54:36.:54:49.

bunker... He knows. It is one of those situations where you have to

:54:50.:54:53.

know before you hit your second shot that that bunker is not the place to

:54:54.:54:57.

end up, you needed to go past the hole to have any chance. Kjeldsen's

:54:58.:55:09.

third shot. He is a wonderful wage player. -- wedge player.

:55:10.:55:17.

Danny Willett coming down the slope at the 9th.

:55:18.:55:24.

GROANS FROM CROWD Doesn't want it to go much further

:55:25.:55:30.

and run onto the next tier. Always difficult to judge the pace on those

:55:31.:55:36.

slopes. Unlikely birdie opportunity for Snedeker.

:55:37.:55:39.

CHEERING What they putt down the hill on

:55:40.:55:46.

number eight! -- a putt. That is the Snedeker we are used to seeing.

:55:47.:55:48.

Moving into a tie for fifth. This putt is uphill most of the way

:55:49.:56:04.

and then it levels out. In fact, at the cup it may take a little bit the

:56:05.:56:14.

other way. It is not easy to judge the pace, is it? This is one of the

:56:15.:56:18.

most difficult two putts on the entire golf course. Up the hill and

:56:19.:56:26.

level and then it goes down. He has got to get this just right. And also

:56:27.:56:30.

this green is way up in the air so the wind does affect the ball here

:56:31.:56:33.

more than most of the greens. He does not want to leave himself a

:56:34.:56:54.

horrible cross slope attempt. He could have a very tricky putt left

:56:55.:57:03.

otherwise. Subtle. There it goes. Oh boy. He will have that for bogey.

:57:04.:57:07.

Things can change so quickly here. Ken has been having a look at the

:57:08.:57:41.

11th, let's go and look with him. Ken. Quite a nice view down there at

:57:42.:57:47.

the 11th green, I'm at the driving green looking down at the putting

:57:48.:57:51.

surface. When playing downhill there is a lot to take into account, there

:57:52.:57:55.

is a nice flat bit of ground, let's put the green here. If you fly the

:57:56.:58:01.

ball into a normal green as it goes downhill the ball goes further so

:58:02.:58:05.

when choosing a club on the downhill shot shot you will play flies a

:58:06.:58:09.

little further so that is tricky and the wind is also swirling about. The

:58:10.:58:13.

other thing today when I get the book out, here is how the green

:58:14.:58:17.

looks on the plan of the green, this is the water hazard to the left and

:58:18.:58:22.

there is water beyond, a pot bunker here and narrow putting surface with

:58:23.:58:27.

these mounts and the flag is there, 29th four from the right. There is a

:58:28.:58:31.

good distance from the water but the problem is if you miss it on this

:58:32.:58:34.

side here it is very difficult to get up and down because the Hall

:58:35.:58:38.

Green slopes this way, the front that slopes this way. It looks

:58:39.:58:43.

innocuous but to get a decent putt you've got to take the water on

:58:44.:58:47.

command if you don't and miss on the wrong side, by jingoism will be

:58:48.:58:50.

difficult to get down into macro. It looks good but choosing the shot on

:58:51.:58:55.

the second shot will be so difficult and it's the hardest hole on the

:58:56.:58:56.

golf course as well. That is so good, it is magic, it is

:58:57.:59:04.

just magic, Kjeldsen, good up and down and he knows it. He goes on red

:59:05.:59:12.

figures, Kjeldsen. Beautiful birdie here at the 8th, tied for fourth and

:59:13.:59:18.

only three shots back. Could be three shots back here in a moment.

:59:19.:59:27.

It's got a chance. Sit down, I thought it had enough pace to hold

:59:28.:59:36.

its line. I think the next couple of putts are going to be big moments in

:59:37.:59:38.

this third round. APPLAUSE

:59:39.:00:01.

Nice steady round for Jamie Donaldson. Plus five, lovely eagle

:00:02.:00:05.

at the 2nd got his round going. Big putt for McIlroy. It is left all

:00:06.:00:46.

the way. Well, wouldn't this be something? As well as Rory played

:00:47.:00:55.

the hole, and as poorly as Spieth has played the hole Spieth can make

:00:56.:01:00.

this putt and both walk out of here having made five. Matt Sion at the

:01:01.:01:04.

9th, second shot. Go-ahead. The ball up the hill, the wind off the left,

:01:05.:01:12.

such a difficult pin to get at. It is going to go on to the middle tier

:01:13.:01:16.

but if you are going to miss the green at that range at least you are

:01:17.:01:18.

putting up the slope. Well, here we go, Jordan Spieth for

:01:19.:01:38.

bogey. A good seven feet. At least it's a little bit up the hill. It is

:01:39.:01:46.

all team effort with Jordan. He and his caddy have looked at this from

:01:47.:01:51.

every conceivable direction, I feel. A difficult one to read, as you

:01:52.:01:54.

know. See if A difficult one to read, as you

:01:55.:01:58.

know. See if he can pick the line. Not much in it.

:01:59.:02:02.

APPLAUSE Another one dead centre. That's got

:02:03.:02:12.

to be a bit of a shock to McIlroy's system, as well as he played the

:02:13.:02:19.

holed, to come off their par with Rory. All of a sudden, we've got a

:02:20.:02:25.

dogfight. A change in the commentary box, Andrew Cotter and Peter Alliss.

:02:26.:02:30.

COMMENTATOR: Thank you, Ken. That was a cracking shot. Jason Day on

:02:31.:02:43.

the 13th, a bit of a downslope. Looking to fears that one in lower.

:02:44.:02:53.

-- looking to fizz it in. Day back to 1-over. Matt C armour at the 9th,

:02:54.:03:03.

long putt up the hill. -- Hideki Matsuyama at the 9th.

:03:04.:03:11.

Come on, come on. That is woefully short. He looks a very good player.

:03:12.:03:25.

He has hit more greens in rigour Laois and then anybody else today, I

:03:26.:03:31.

think he has hit eight of the front nine. Which isn't everything, Jordan

:03:32.:03:36.

Spieth has hit three of the first seven and scrambled, scrambled,

:03:37.:03:39.

scrambled. Which is one of the arts around here.

:03:40.:03:43.

There they are, on the eighth tee. A massive hole up the tee. A couple of

:03:44.:03:57.

birdies here for Spieth. Turn. Pushing it again towards the

:03:58.:04:03.

bunkers. Wide of the bunkers. Well, Peter, he is hitting it off the tee

:04:04.:04:09.

all over the shot but he is getting up and down. Very difficult for

:04:10.:04:13.

McIlroy playing alongside this, because he is driving the ball very

:04:14.:04:20.

well. Famous last words. That's gone right as well. Scored the bunker.

:04:21.:04:32.

It's all a struggle. Spieth is getting away with it, but McIlroy is

:04:33.:04:40.

really not at his best at all. Scott Piercy at the 8th.

:04:41.:04:53.

Tied third at the moment, three shots behind. Danny Willett at the

:04:54.:05:07.

10th. Playing it nicely. Flipped it. Lovely looking green when you stand

:05:08.:05:12.

on the hill and played down, and that could come nicely nicely. Very

:05:13.:05:14.

nice. Steady, steady. So treacherous. Look

:05:15.:05:30.

at that, still not stop. Such a sigh of relief when it finally comes to

:05:31.:05:36.

rest. Langer, for eagle, on the par-5 13th.

:05:37.:05:40.

Tap in birdie and he will go back to level par. The world rankings

:05:41.:05:47.

started 30 years ago and who was number one, 30 years ago? The wee

:05:48.:05:55.

man here? It was, 30 years ago. That will move him back into a tie for

:05:56.:06:01.

sixth place. But he doesn't hit the ball very high!

:06:02.:06:05.

CHUCKLES Well done Bernard. You keep going.

:06:06.:06:11.

You need another jacket. That was a moment ago, and Jason Day for birdie

:06:12.:06:13.

on the 13th. Tied together level par. They are

:06:14.:06:31.

calling each other along and not far away at all, just four behind. Did

:06:32.:06:37.

you notice the speed that that ball went in the hole? Disappeared.

:06:38.:06:44.

Matsuyama for a par at the 9th. Beautifully struck. Tidy nine. One

:06:45.:06:52.

-- one bogey, a couple of birdies. Spieth was in this area in the first

:06:53.:07:01.

round and he sprayed it out from there. Plenty of ground up their he

:07:02.:07:06.

has given himself a nice position. He's done the same. There's so much

:07:07.:07:10.

room there that once you get past the trees... But that is absolutely

:07:11.:07:17.

fine. Now he is at a great angle to come down this green. And into the

:07:18.:07:23.

breeze as well. That's OK. He's not in control from tee to green but

:07:24.:07:30.

once he gets on there, however... This is a huge bunker. I don't think

:07:31.:07:39.

Rory can get it too far out of there. He doesn't want to risk

:07:40.:07:43.

hitting the face, but he's still going to be left with a long third.

:07:44.:07:56.

Good hit. 7-iron or something like that.

:07:57.:08:02.

It is a struggle. Certainly at this moment not an epic scintillating

:08:03.:08:09.

battle. Now, Danny Willett. As the shadows

:08:10.:08:27.

of the trees stretch across. Still a good round for Danny Willett so far.

:08:28.:08:30.

He will remain level par for the tournament. Chris Wood, two over.

:08:31.:08:43.

And he has played a belter. Good shot, Chris. Well done.

:08:44.:08:50.

STUDIO Well, things are changing on this

:08:51.:08:56.

leaderboard. Jordan Spieth started with a 1-shot advantage over Rory

:08:57.:09:00.

McIlroy, but it is Hideki Matsuyama of Japan in sole possession of

:09:01.:09:04.

second place right now. Rory in a tie for third with Soren Kjeldsen

:09:05.:09:08.

and Scott Piercy. Further down you can see the progress of the rest

:09:09.:09:16.

would -- of Lee Westwood and Justin Rose. Let's hear from him.

:09:17.:09:20.

Justin, tough stretch early on from you. Can you give us an idea of what

:09:21.:09:26.

you were thinking when you walked away from the seventh green. No,

:09:27.:09:33.

because it's a family rated show. It's just been a battle. The same as

:09:34.:09:37.

yesterday, careless. I really struggled with my speed on the

:09:38.:09:43.

greens the last couple of days and with the greens very gusty... It's

:09:44.:09:49.

kind of unsettling and that was the story of yesterday and today. But I

:09:50.:09:56.

really fought hard, great back nine. I wouldn't say put myself back in it

:09:57.:10:00.

but you know, it keeps the dream alive anyway. Too many squandered

:10:01.:10:06.

shots around the greens early. The approach, being 3-over going into

:10:07.:10:10.

the final day, is it one where you have got to still be patient because

:10:11.:10:14.

you can't afford to attack because the mistakes are just around the

:10:15.:10:17.

corner? If the leaders were to play in the same wind that we played in,

:10:18.:10:23.

I would say that they would maybe quite conceivably give a couple back

:10:24.:10:26.

and I would be five behind and then you feel you have a chance. As we

:10:27.:10:31.

were coming up 18, the wind has just begun to really lay down and that is

:10:32.:10:35.

rubbing salt into the wounds right now, that you feel you got the worst

:10:36.:10:41.

of day to. In my position you need a bit of help from the leaders at this

:10:42.:10:46.

stage. If they finish strong it can put too much distance between

:10:47.:10:48.

themselves and me. There is always something to play for on Sunday and

:10:49.:10:53.

I will come out looking good. I think Sunday will be the first day

:10:54.:10:58.

where you feel you can make a score. We will see some low scores

:10:59.:11:02.

tomorrow. Thank you for your time and good luck tomorrow.

:11:03.:11:06.

COMMENTATOR: Tomorrow is another day. Now Rory, third shot, eighth

:11:07.:11:21.

hole. He needs a few good shots. And there is one. That's pretty good. He

:11:22.:11:23.

was a long way back. It's all been a bit of a struggle.

:11:24.:11:36.

Justin Rose was right, the forecast was for the wind to drop and it

:11:37.:11:39.

certainly has in the last half hour or so and a pretty calm day

:11:40.:11:43.

tomorrow. McIlroy just needs to grind it out today and be in touch.

:11:44.:11:54.

Matsuyama at the 10th. Sprinted away, down the hill, right-to-left.

:11:55.:11:59.

Is it going to shoot on a bit? Yes. There it is.

:12:00.:12:03.

Amazing how far Jason Day got down there. Spieth and his caddy chatting

:12:04.:12:18.

away. Huge greens here. It looks like a small cricket pitch.

:12:19.:12:24.

I think I can be aggressive with this one. "I Think I can be

:12:25.:12:35.

aggressive with this one". Well... He has umpteen practice swings. And

:12:36.:12:43.

here we go. He's got a good line into the flag.

:12:44.:12:50.

It's been a mixed bag from him, hasn't it? Some good, some bad. He

:12:51.:13:10.

has made some crucial putts. He was pretty loose off the tee but he did

:13:11.:13:16.

a pretty sensible thing in playing a 3-wood because there is plenty of

:13:17.:13:20.

ground out there. I'm sure he will knock that one in. Matsui

:13:21.:13:25.

Matsuyama now. Not now. Jason Day was almost done by that, almost a

:13:26.:13:37.

ceremonial bunker, doesn't get much play. Kjeldsen. Up the hill at the

:13:38.:13:44.

9th, raises it up and that is a horrid little tester coming back.

:13:45.:13:50.

You look up to the top of the trees and clouds coming across the sky,

:13:51.:13:59.

but it is only the tops of the trees that are blowing. You hope for the

:14:00.:14:02.

best. It looks a lofted club he is playing

:14:03.:14:17.

here. Between the flag and the right-hand edge of the bunker. It

:14:18.:14:22.

could kick in. Like this one. It could come. Here it comes. That

:14:23.:14:26.

could be a beauty. Chris Wood, a chance to get to

:14:27.:14:49.

1-over. Too much. Going nicely, the tall fellow. I remember how well he

:14:50.:14:54.

played in the strong wind at Birkdale back in 2008 as an amateur,

:14:55.:15:01.

nearly won the open. Kjeldsen rattles one in. Firm, bold. Out in

:15:02.:15:16.

36. That brisk walk. Dustin Johnson, for a birdie at the 12th. Not bad,

:15:17.:15:22.

not bad. They don't want to drop, do they? They don't topple in. Long

:15:23.:15:26.

birdie attempt for McIlroy. That is poor at and with Spieth's

:15:27.:15:48.

marker in fairly close, just a few yards right with his drive and it's

:15:49.:15:55.

costing him. That was a misread, wasn't it? Six or seven feet left of

:15:56.:16:07.

the hole. If Spieth holes this, he is tiptoeing away from him. This

:16:08.:16:11.

isn't what was ordered at all by home supporters.

:16:12.:16:27.

So, another big putt. His playing partner with a shorter birdie putt

:16:28.:16:43.

to come. It had to drop for McIlroy. Only a five on this part five. No

:16:44.:16:47.

birdies yet today. Now then, Jordan Spieth. They

:16:48.:17:07.

certainly do a lot of pacing about, these two. Caddy and player. Working

:17:08.:17:09.

in harmony. Well, he has holed a putt pretty

:17:10.:17:34.

much on every green. Of some importance. They were put on the

:17:35.:17:47.

clock, yesterday, his group. Around Amen Corner. They started to be

:17:48.:17:50.

timed and they found it a bit frustrating. Not out of position yet

:17:51.:18:04.

today. It could be in a minute. And everything stops for tea.

:18:05.:18:16.

APPLAUSE It went in. A birdie four. Well, he

:18:17.:18:32.

is marching on but his play has been

:18:33.:18:36.

very scruffy. But he is getting the job done. McIlroy, at the moment, is

:18:37.:18:48.

not. Scott Piercy up the hill on the ninth. All the way at the back, 125

:18:49.:18:57.

yards downwind, the tee shot. Not finished. Bear with us. That's OK.

:18:58.:19:17.

Lee Westwood at the 18th, he has played beautifully today. Certainly

:19:18.:19:31.

on the back nine. Oh yes! He is practically the forgotten man. He

:19:32.:19:38.

has played quite beautifully. He has come back absolutely magnificently,

:19:39.:19:51.

in 32. 71, 1-over par. That is fantastic. Jason Day coming all the

:19:52.:19:57.

way across the 14th green. Watching, in passive. Studying, learning. What

:19:58.:20:09.

a putt. Jason Day! 60 footer across the 14th. Happy day. Suddenly he

:20:10.:20:16.

moves to 1-under par and just four behind Jordan Spieth, the world

:20:17.:20:24.

number one two is rumbling on. The wind is dropping and the natives are

:20:25.:20:31.

getting excited. Look at that. Two birdies in a row, a monster putt.

:20:32.:20:39.

Well, you always see some monster putts here. Look at the distance of

:20:40.:20:46.

this. Caddy on the right, rattling along. Oh!

:20:47.:20:53.

Is easy, easy! 60 feet, a conservative estimate. A little bump

:20:54.:21:03.

of the knuckles with Bernhard Langer. Both going well. The leader,

:21:04.:21:09.

but there are large footsteps behind him. Three clear of Matsuyama. Jason

:21:10.:21:20.

Day going along. Straight drive from Jordan Spieth. Heat can get a long

:21:21.:21:27.

way down this hole today. He looks to be hitting at the ball a

:21:28.:21:54.

little too hard. It is not the wonderful rhythm we are used to, but

:21:55.:21:59.

that has skirted the trees and ended up at the bottom of the hill and

:22:00.:22:11.

that is a big drive. Danny Willett, his second down the slope to the

:22:12.:22:12.

11th. Excitement around the course. That

:22:13.:22:28.

is pretty good actually, from Danny Willett. Tough green. Ken was down

:22:29.:22:32.

there earlier having a look around, as he does. Let's have a look to see

:22:33.:22:38.

where the flag is on number 11. Away from the water, on the right-hand

:22:39.:22:42.

side of the green. The ideal area is here, short and left of the green.

:22:43.:22:47.

If you bail out and think I don't want to go on the water, this is

:22:48.:22:50.

when things really get tricky. It doesn't look like it, it looks like

:22:51.:22:54.

a fairly banal it will shot. If your ball sneaks down that right side,

:22:55.:23:00.

you've hit it six or seven yards off the line. This is what you're faced

:23:01.:23:04.

with. At home you think, that doesn't look too difficult. I know

:23:05.:23:09.

the sprinkler heads are in the way... The grain is against you,

:23:10.:23:13.

it's a bit stiff, and when you reach the green it's absolutely greased

:23:14.:23:17.

lightning. Let's see what we can do. There's that one. By jingo, I got a

:23:18.:23:23.

good break. Just caught the sprinkler head. If you get a little

:23:24.:23:28.

bit bold with it, you have to make sure you get across the stiff stuff,

:23:29.:23:32.

but watch it go, it's gone, gone forever. It's not impossible if you

:23:33.:23:39.

go a bit wide, that's gone 15 or 20 feet by, that you can putt it in the

:23:40.:23:44.

water. This pin looks innocuous but if you missed it on the right it can

:23:45.:23:50.

get you in real trouble. If you miss it on the left, you have to take the

:23:51.:23:55.

water on. Danny Willett, at the 11th. Third shot. Was he watching

:23:56.:24:06.

Ken this morning? That is getting closer, tiptoeing close. Good

:24:07.:24:19.

effort. Now, Langer. A little wedge in his hands here. That is a huge

:24:20.:24:26.

putt from Jason Day, his playing partner. Get in, they say! And it

:24:27.:24:34.

does. Birdie on the 13th, birdie on the 14th. He moves to 1-under par. A

:24:35.:24:40.

tie for third alongside Jason Day and four behind Jordan Spieth.

:24:41.:24:48.

Well, Charley Hoffman for an eagle, up the hill. Oh! No, no. Wouldn't it

:24:49.:25:00.

be an amazing thing for Langer to win and become the oldest person by

:25:01.:25:08.

about ten years to win this event? It would be remarkable. Hideki

:25:09.:25:15.

Matsuyama on the 10th, for his par. Knocked it in close for his second

:25:16.:25:21.

but he was above the hole. Slipped by but he remains two under and the

:25:22.:25:25.

nearest pursuer to Jordan Spieth. And there is Jordan Spieth. Coming

:25:26.:25:32.

up to this pin, which you can see, four or five or six yards from the

:25:33.:25:37.

back of the green, very difficult to get to the close -- close to the

:25:38.:25:41.

middle of the hole. As good as he can hit it, right at

:25:42.:25:57.

the flag... That's going to stop in that middle bit. But he must have

:25:58.:26:03.

thought that would be within ten feet. Instead he is within ten or 12

:26:04.:26:11.

yards, more maybe. Now, Rory. Looking for a little touch of, if

:26:12.:26:13.

not magic, at least a few good ones. Needs to come up. It sticks there,

:26:14.:26:35.

does it? Does it? Steady, stop, stop. It probably will. Looks a bit

:26:36.:26:45.

laboured with the shoulders coming up. He looks anxious, laboured,

:26:46.:26:53.

heavy. I don't know. Here is Sergio. Come on, Sergio. As he played a

:26:54.:27:03.

magical little chip? He certainly has. It is Seve Ballesteros's

:27:04.:27:14.

birthday today. A great day, the 9th of April.

:27:15.:27:21.

Seve Would be 58? 59 today. A year older than Bernhard Langer. Bernd

:27:22.:27:36.

Wiesberger! Oh! So close. We've seen some holes in one here. Trevor

:27:37.:27:40.

Immelman, remember. Ian Poulter, Harrington. Not quite to be. Have

:27:41.:27:48.

another book at this. Looks odds-on to go but in, there. Just catches

:27:49.:27:57.

it. Clive Clarke, our old colleague, had one here whether flag was at the

:27:58.:28:00.

front. I'm sure it will be eight Sabin

:28:01.:28:17.

birdie for Bernd Wiesberger to ease his troubles today. His debut,

:28:18.:28:23.

smiley -- Smylie Kaufman. Played a good one

:28:24.:28:38.

but it is going way past. Steady, steady. You think some greens are

:28:39.:28:53.

fast, try these! Scott Piercy on the 10th. See how close they are to the

:28:54.:29:01.

clubhouse. Just a fairway wood. A little bit easier to get some

:29:02.:29:06.

right-to-left and get it shooting on down there. Needs to get down to the

:29:07.:29:11.

flat to make it a bit easier, which it will.

:29:12.:29:27.

Now, down to putting again. Spieth first. He has holed some very

:29:28.:29:38.

crucial putts today. McIlroy, well, he has holed a couple of five at

:29:39.:29:43.

once, but nothing has happened for him so and he is dropping behind.

:29:44.:29:47.

Slow putt. He couldn't! That was a wonderful

:29:48.:30:15.

effort. Brilliant tennis. Wonderfully judged. Easy four. Nine

:30:16.:30:29.

holes completed. 1-under. It is amazing he has eked out 1-under on

:30:30.:30:37.

that front nine hitting it the way he does, but a master on the greens.

:30:38.:30:44.

Kjeldsen, long par putt. So, the Dane will drop one on the 10th.

:30:45.:30:51.

And 1-over for the day. Just in time to see McIlroy, shorter putt than

:30:52.:31:09.

Spieth's, similar speed. Pretty straight.

:31:10.:31:23.

That's the way it has been today, I'm afraid. A struggle. Smylie

:31:24.:31:40.

Kaufman's second two 14. Could slip away to the right if it is just

:31:41.:31:45.

right of the pin but that went left and it is rolling back. Smylie.

:31:46.:31:54.

Welcome back, Ken Brown. Thank you, Peter. Nice par on the ninth for

:31:55.:32:05.

Rory, looking at his card, 38. 3-putt at the 7th. The breeze is

:32:06.:32:13.

just dying a little bit, just a fraction. Quite a long walk back to

:32:14.:32:23.

the 10th tee. Ten, 11, 12 don't offer much, pars are good on all

:32:24.:32:31.

holes. Spieth just loves this course. He does. It was remarkable,

:32:32.:32:40.

we talked before that he has led six rounds at Augusta now. Up to the

:32:41.:32:53.

12th, Danny Willett. Just 146 yards. Wonderful shot by Willett. Level

:32:54.:33:04.

par, chance to go 1-under. Beautifully struck from Jason Day,

:33:05.:33:14.

not too much spin at the 15th. The wind is trying to blow it, that

:33:15.:33:21.

would be cruel. If there is a pitch mark or a spike mark, still moving.

:33:22.:33:29.

I think it has stopped. Hideki Matsuyama going for a high ball,

:33:30.:33:34.

just trying to control that a bit more. Front right to pin position,

:33:35.:33:39.

just about there. Great finish, great final round last year, from

:33:40.:33:46.

Matsuyama. To finish well up inside the top ten. Smylie nudges it in, so

:33:47.:33:57.

he has plenty to smile about. 1-under par, in the red, first

:33:58.:34:04.

Masters at 24 years of age, he played his first tournament earlier

:34:05.:34:11.

this season. The tactics here are to work the ball right to left, you've

:34:12.:34:17.

only got to get its 260 and it hits the downslope and scoots down the

:34:18.:34:20.

hill, it is a little easier to draw it as well. There is the slope on

:34:21.:34:28.

the fairway. It will scamper down there. Before that, Danny, this is

:34:29.:34:33.

inside right edge, not outside the hole. Yes! He is putting

:34:34.:34:44.

beautifully, he has a lovely touch going. 12 in the world ranking these

:34:45.:34:50.

days, highly regarded and rated player, going nicely.

:34:51.:35:07.

It has pinged off the downslope and that is perfect, the further down it

:35:08.:35:38.

goes the flat of the lie and the closer you get to the flag. Perfect.

:35:39.:35:45.

Should be a 3-wood for McIlroy as well.

:35:46.:35:57.

Tight left. It has gone right under the skirt of the bushes. Still an

:35:58.:36:11.

enormous tree in front of it. He has seen worse at this hole but he will

:36:12.:36:15.

have to do something to find a par here. My old Ryder Cup partner,

:36:16.:36:21.

Bernhard Langer, amazing, 58 and going strong. Down the slope here.

:36:22.:36:30.

Yet again, my goodness, this is amazing, 33rd appearance. People

:36:31.:36:34.

have been asking about the long putter and they think it is banned,

:36:35.:36:38.

it is not the long putter that is banned, it is anchoring it and he is

:36:39.:36:45.

not anchoring it. It is difficult to get the message up the hill that he

:36:46.:36:51.

is fine. We saw his ball come out. When I say fine, it is behind a tree

:36:52.:36:56.

but he will be playing his first one, so ignore what you have seen.

:36:57.:36:59.

Bernhard Langer, 58 and Jack Nicklaus finished sixth at the age

:37:00.:37:06.

of 50 in 1990. So there is a precedent. Jason Day playing

:37:07.:37:09.

alongside Langer but he trails the German now.

:37:10.:37:25.

Little slippery downhill from Matsuyama, putting him off. A more

:37:26.:37:34.

exposed area. We are moving somewhere else. Dustin Johnson makes

:37:35.:37:42.

his fair share of eagles. This is for another one. Not his finest

:37:43.:37:52.

moment. You've got to be careful here, it can get away with from you,

:37:53.:37:56.

it slides right and it is all downhill. If you get too cosy with

:37:57.:38:07.

it it will run out. Well judged. Sit down.

:38:08.:38:16.

Day left himself is for his par. Nicely done. But it is Bernhard

:38:17.:38:30.

Langer who is the closest challenger to Jordan Spieth at the moment.

:38:31.:38:34.

Let's watch this again, Bernd Wiesberger, this is how close he

:38:35.:38:39.

came to a hole-in-one on the 16th. We've seen great drama around this

:38:40.:38:44.

hole over the years, a few holes in one. This has been a well paced

:38:45.:38:54.

hole, 15 of them. But not in that pin position. Unlucky for the

:38:55.:39:00.

Austrian. The ball of McIlroy and the tree of McIlroy right in front

:39:01.:39:04.

of him as the hole plays. Can he squeeze around the side of it a bit,

:39:05.:39:09.

Ken? I think he would have to nudge it outside. Chris Wood on the 17th.

:39:10.:39:16.

Putting for a birdie but he would be delighted to two putt from here,

:39:17.:39:20.

lots of undulating swirls to go over. He hasn't, has he?

:39:21.:39:32.

A couple over for his round, 3-over for the Masters.

:39:33.:39:45.

STUDIO: Subpar rounds have been few and far between but Lee Westwood had

:39:46.:39:51.

one of them today, he and Louis Oosthuizen 71, spectacular effort at

:39:52.:39:59.

the 18th. And it is his 17th playing of the Masters, a man who has been

:40:00.:40:03.

runner-up here before, he knows his way around.

:40:04.:40:06.

Let's hear from him. 71 today, how good was that score?

:40:07.:40:10.

It felt very good. The conditions were tougher than yesterday even.

:40:11.:40:15.

The front nine played tough, went round in 3-over par command the back

:40:16.:40:19.

nine gives you a few scoring chances, you can go at a couple of

:40:20.:40:27.

pins, 15, 16, 17, so it will be interesting viewing later.

:40:28.:40:30.

A few of the players coming in said they felt the wind was easing down a

:40:31.:40:33.

fraction coming up 18. Did you notice that?

:40:34.:40:37.

Myself and Paul felt it had dropped on the last three or four holes. But

:40:38.:40:42.

it is certainly still blowing and gusting.

:40:43.:40:44.

1-over for the tournament going into the final day, what are you

:40:45.:40:46.

thinking? the final day, what are you

:40:47.:40:48.

I've given myself a chance to win going into Sunday. Hopefully I will

:40:49.:40:57.

not be too far out of the lead. We just have to see, anything can

:40:58.:41:01.

happen around Augusta. The best of luck, thank you for your time.

:41:02.:41:05.

Here is the amazing Bernhard Langer, second hole. You can just see the

:41:06.:41:22.

pin there. Front right. Bernhard Langer, Langer is on fire, wonderful

:41:23.:41:28.

shot from Bernhard Langer. He has another chance to get to 3-under.

:41:29.:41:35.

This is a chop out for Rory, don't be too greedy. OK, don't run into

:41:36.:41:51.

the bunker. Not bad. On the flat. Jason Day.

:41:52.:42:01.

Nice little bounce. That's OK there. Just judging the pace coming out of

:42:02.:42:17.

that cholera. -- collar. It is a bit more difficult. Great pairing, Jason

:42:18.:42:22.

Day and Bernhard Langer, today. Scott Piercy for his par.

:42:23.:42:29.

The green tilt is quite a lot from back right to front left. The only

:42:30.:42:39.

easy putt is from short left. So to the leader.

:42:40.:42:51.

The breezes of the right, you don't want to swing it too much in the

:42:52.:42:57.

breeze and coming off the left side. The ball is always below your feet,

:42:58.:43:03.

the ideal shot is cut spin and hold it into the slope into the breeze.

:43:04.:43:10.

I think that is where the wind is coming off, off the right, slightly

:43:11.:43:19.

helping. What they seem, absolutely fantastic. -- what a scene. If these

:43:20.:43:28.

two go on the clock, we know who is the slow one, Rory is like an

:43:29.:43:31.

express train. We will leave them to their thoughts

:43:32.:43:40.

and go to Matsuyama on the 12th. Go! Go, he says. Has it caught the

:43:41.:44:17.

bunker? No, it is OK. Looks like he's going for a little look draw

:44:18.:44:20.

shot, the shoulders pointing left, the feet on the target line. Started

:44:21.:44:31.

right, swinging on the breeze. Absolutely... Just stop there,

:44:32.:44:35.

straight up the slope. Wonderful shot, it was worth waiting for. He

:44:36.:44:44.

half used the breeze to get there. Bryson DeChambeau played with Spieth

:44:45.:44:49.

yesterday, he's back to 3-over for the tournament, 3-over for the

:44:50.:44:55.

round. The leading amateur at the moment. Langasque, the French

:44:56.:45:02.

amateur, made the cut but further down the field. 83 today for

:45:03.:45:08.

Langasque. Good break from Jason Day, kicking down the back, allowing

:45:09.:45:18.

him to get the putter in hand. Sit down. Sit down. Sit down! Oh no!

:45:19.:45:26.

Surely... Quick, run up there. He's so lucky that stopped. Six more

:45:27.:45:30.

inches and that is down on the bottom level. A tricky one for

:45:31.:45:39.

Smylie Kaufman, not a lot of green to play with. Try and generate that

:45:40.:45:46.

spin. It has gone too far. If that goes any further left that could be

:45:47.:45:56.

a rather... It settles there. Rory playing his third.

:45:57.:46:04.

Higher flight, should land a little softly. He has a chance to save his

:46:05.:46:17.

par. In danger of losing touch at the moment, isn't he, Ken? Spieth

:46:18.:46:21.

seems to have found is in control after the earlier holes when he was

:46:22.:46:27.

a little bit more ragged. Smylie Kaufman.

:46:28.:46:34.

His dad was coach at UAB University, Alan Kaufman, where Graeme McDowell

:46:35.:46:45.

was a college kid. His first name is actually Carter, perfectly good

:46:46.:46:48.

name. Bernhard on the 16th. He won the senior British Open at

:46:49.:47:25.

WPA is a go at Royal Porthcawl, 67, one of the best rounds I've ever

:47:26.:47:35.

seen he's got to go over the corner of the bunker. Lofted club. Deft

:47:36.:47:44.

touch. Langer was 32 when Matsuyama was

:47:45.:48:02.

born. And they are tired, second place at the moment. Nice par from

:48:03.:48:04.

Matsuyama on the 12th. Right, Rory, this is a good moment

:48:05.:48:20.

to brush one in and put pressure on his playing partner.

:48:21.:48:28.

Uphill, keep a bit of speed on this one, otherwise it will slip away on

:48:29.:48:32.

the low side on the left. Not to be. Jason Day. Suddenly a few

:48:33.:48:54.

putts are being missed and Day will slip back and McIlroy will slip back

:48:55.:49:04.

to level par, as will Day. He's had a few problems on this pin, slightly

:49:05.:49:09.

over drawing it, that was a 3-wood, and all of that room on the right

:49:10.:49:17.

was tricky for him. 12-over on the 10th hole in his career at the

:49:18.:49:22.

Masters. The toughest hole in the United States. Someone has been

:49:23.:49:28.

doing their work. Yes, that is a statistic. Bernhard Langer was 34

:49:29.:49:34.

when Hideki Matsuyama was born so I was wrong. That is a fairly

:49:35.:49:41.

pointless statistic. Right, Jordan Spieth, just tidied up his game on

:49:42.:49:45.

the last few holes tee to green, and the putter is still functioning

:49:46.:49:46.

well. Spieth is currently leading the

:49:47.:50:02.

field in putts up to this point. From this angle he has a bit of left

:50:03.:50:06.

to right but he's basically up the hill. This to stretch his lead.

:50:07.:50:18.

Has he hit it? No. Just fading away at the end anyway. He has holed some

:50:19.:50:30.

good ones for pars, not to be there for birdie but a solid four. Langer

:50:31.:50:38.

and Matsuyama, three ahead of them and five ahead of his playing

:50:39.:50:46.

partner. Danny Willett moving up there.

:50:47.:50:52.

Aiming a long way to the right, Smylie. 8-iron, trying to force it

:50:53.:51:04.

in, keep it low. Not too bad, very awkward with the cross wind

:51:05.:51:11.

whistling in from the right. Third to the par-5 for Danny Willett. It

:51:12.:51:21.

very nice birdie on the 12th. -- a very nice birdie. Just choking down

:51:22.:51:31.

a little bit. No. Come off the downslope? No, that is awkward.

:51:32.:51:41.

Chris Wood, 18th green, putting across the slope a little bit.

:51:42.:51:55.

72, 73, 75 for Chris Wood. Looking at his card today, he finishes on

:51:56.:52:08.

plus for. Just a slightly disappointing one, very

:52:09.:52:12.

disappointing finish really. He dropped a couple on the last three

:52:13.:52:16.

holes. This is the result of the third shot of Danny Willett, all of

:52:17.:52:20.

the weight on the left side and possibly bump it into the slope, or

:52:21.:52:29.

just fluff it. STUDIO: Problems for the Sheffield

:52:30.:52:34.

man at the 13th but a quick squint at the leaderboard will tell you

:52:35.:52:37.

Jordan Spieth still has a three shot advantage from an Atlanta and Hideki

:52:38.:52:41.

Matsuyama. Jordan Spieth, world number two, Bernhard Langer

:52:42.:52:46.

currently the world number 1080 in the world rankings now and giving a

:52:47.:52:51.

fantastic account of himself will stop Hideki Matsuyama averages 4.9

:52:52.:52:56.

birdies per round on the PGA Tour in America and that leads the ranking.

:52:57.:53:01.

No surprise that this young man, 24 years of age, who tied for fifth

:53:02.:53:06.

here last year is giving such a good performance once again. Smylie

:53:07.:53:10.

Kaufman from Alabama in that three ball tie for fourth.

:53:11.:53:20.

Willett going with the putter, his fifth shot at the 13th, one of the

:53:21.:53:28.

easier holes, the par-5. He's got it, has he? It slid across the face

:53:29.:53:39.

of the hole. Tee shot on the 11th of Jordan Spieth.

:53:40.:53:48.

It has been a tough hole for McIlroy this week, the tee is up a little

:53:49.:54:15.

bit. Looking anxious again. He just needs it to sit.. Dear. My goodness,

:54:16.:54:26.

parked it right by the tree. He needs a bit of luck and it doesn't

:54:27.:54:30.

look like he has a backswing which would be very unlucky. Matsuyama,

:54:31.:54:36.

3-wood off the tee at 13. They like it. Tight to the trees and write

:54:37.:54:49.

down the middle. Beautiful. -- right down. Let's look at the 13th hole,

:54:50.:54:56.

Ken. Fabulous par-5, 510 yards, just look at it, dog-leg hard to the

:54:57.:55:03.

left, you've got to shape it right to left, the fairway tilts massively

:55:04.:55:07.

from right-to-left with the creek running down the left side. Good tee

:55:08.:55:12.

shot if you get a good one way, most fellows can get there with an iron.

:55:13.:55:16.

With the breeze perhaps a bit more. The Guardian of the green is the

:55:17.:55:20.

little stream and the pin is on the back terrace. Fabulous. Bryson

:55:21.:55:27.

DeChambeau he has slipped back a little bit today. But still not too

:55:28.:55:33.

far away. Spieth is only about five months older than DeChambeau, with

:55:34.:55:38.

all of the things speed has already done in the professional game. But

:55:39.:55:42.

DeChambeau, to many eyes, looks the real deal, if the somewhat slightly

:55:43.:55:45.

bizarre deal. He bogeyed the 13th and gets one

:55:46.:56:14.

back on the 14th. DeChambeau back to two over. That is good enough for a

:56:15.:56:23.

time for 15th at the moment. Interesting character, interesting

:56:24.:56:27.

clubs, lots of you will know the story about him, 37 and a half

:56:28.:56:32.

inches, all of his clubs. The US amateur. Tiger Woods did that and so

:56:33.:56:39.

did Jack Nicklaus. The first amateur to finish inside the top ten after

:56:40.:56:46.

36 since Ryan Moore. So all of the signs are there. Sometimes you don't

:56:47.:56:51.

know who is going to kick on and be a great success. Two amateurs made

:56:52.:56:54.

the cut, Romain Langasque hit 83 today said Bryson DeChambeau has

:56:55.:57:04.

him. That is a look from Langasque straight at the camera side on. I

:57:05.:57:08.

think Bryson DeChambeau will be the leading amateur. From 167, Bernhard

:57:09.:57:17.

Langer's second to the 17th, over the bunker, it is delightful. You

:57:18.:57:22.

often get deceived by the breeze. That is good quality. Very mind

:57:23.:57:26.

Bernhard Langer is 30 yards shorter than most of the average driving

:57:27.:57:30.

distances this week it is a remarkable effort. Back to the 13th

:57:31.:57:36.

and Hideki Matsuyama, wonderful tee shot. But even a good tee shot here

:57:37.:57:42.

and leave you with a slightly awkward stance just below the ball

:57:43.:57:46.

here. The tendency would be then to move it from right-to-left to allow

:57:47.:57:50.

for that. Still another hybrid, still some way back, 241. His feet

:57:51.:58:03.

pointing right, shoulders targeting right, sometimes it can make it

:58:04.:58:14.

difficult with this target. That was a little unlucky. He flushed it. He

:58:15.:58:24.

just rode the breeze a little bit and travelled to far. That's going

:58:25.:58:28.

to be awkward. It deserved better, I thought. McIlroy has a bit of a

:58:29.:58:35.

backswing here, but long deliberations with JP. He's got a

:58:36.:58:43.

shot here but it is a risky one. If he gets it right in the breeze and

:58:44.:58:48.

gets that kick he could run it on the water. This is one where you

:58:49.:58:54.

have got to play positive within a percentage. What has he got? He's

:58:55.:59:00.

going to play it back in his stance and try and hard draw it. Back to

:59:01.:59:07.

that in a moment, Smylie Kaufman for his birdie on the 16th.

:59:08.:59:15.

In she goes. Kaufman to two and, now alongside Bernhard Langer and

:59:16.:59:24.

Matsuyama. Three birdies in the last four. A little about Smylie Kaufman,

:59:25.:59:36.

from Birmingham, Alabama. Inside the top 50. Winner at the Las Vegas

:59:37.:59:41.

open. They say 2016 but it was the end of last year but they say 2016

:59:42.:59:46.

because it's this season, if that makes any sense at all. What a

:59:47.:59:52.

massive drive from Jason Day, he is really pounding it out there.

:59:53.:00:00.

Just the wrong side of the slope, this green is amazing. It won't go

:00:01.:00:13.

too far. But, OK. He's finally made up his mind, how much is he taking

:00:14.:00:19.

on here? He's got to be careful if he's going to chase the green. He's

:00:20.:00:21.

got to be careful. Oh no. That was always the risk. Even if he

:00:22.:00:38.

had hit that perfectly, the chance of doing that if you are going at

:00:39.:00:42.

the flag I'm not sure I would have played that shot myself. As soon as

:00:43.:00:50.

he hit it, you heard him say "Oh no, no." His round is slipping away from

:00:51.:00:54.

him and his playing partner goes from strength to strength. I think

:00:55.:01:00.

he left himself 20 yards short of the green and played up the length

:01:01.:01:06.

of the putting surface, that would have been the better option. It has

:01:07.:01:12.

been a long wait for Spieth but it is his turn now.

:01:13.:01:37.

Well, there is Amen Corner, on the 12th green, just to the left of the

:01:38.:01:49.

picture. Ken has been there of course and he has been having a

:01:50.:01:57.

little look around. You've just finished the 11th, a tricky part

:01:58.:02:04.

four, and you wander up onto the first tee. The difficulty is always

:02:05.:02:10.

where is the wind blowing from? The wind is a brutal old wind today. If

:02:11.:02:14.

you look back at the 12th, it's hard to believe, it's almost blowing in

:02:15.:02:20.

completely the opposite direction. On the tee, the wind is swirling a

:02:21.:02:25.

bit. Let's look at where it is swirling at all height flight. You

:02:26.:02:29.

will see it is forever changing direction. Up she goes. See if I can

:02:30.:02:35.

hold it still, hard to do that today. It is swirling and swishing

:02:36.:02:42.

all the time. When you stand on this tee, you have to be decisive. You

:02:43.:02:46.

see players looking at their yardage at they are buying time, seeing how

:02:47.:02:53.

much... If you get it wrong, you will almost certainly be in some

:02:54.:02:57.

sort of trouble. Choosing a club on 12 today is going to be so tricky

:02:58.:03:02.

with this breeze. It is hard with those concrete flags as well. Here

:03:03.:03:08.

we go. The trees being whipped up behind him. The fourth shot,

:03:09.:03:13.

McIlroy. Well, I don't think that this is going to be his year but you

:03:14.:03:19.

never know. We've seen golfing miracles. Aphibarnrat. No! Oh!

:03:20.:03:34.

Beautiful shot. The young man from Asia, from Thailand. Very talented.

:03:35.:03:42.

Jason Day now, he hit a terrific tee shot on 17 and just a very

:03:43.:03:53.

pedestrian wedge to that point. It has been a strange day. There have

:03:54.:03:58.

been so few good scores. McIlroy went out with such high hopes. So

:03:59.:04:05.

many home supporters hoping for great things. He's been uneasy

:04:06.:04:09.

today. He's looked uneasy. He appeared several times as though he

:04:10.:04:13.

were tried to hit the drive too hard. Only fractions. But it's all

:04:14.:04:22.

slipped away. Now, you wouldn't like this one. He had such a good shot in

:04:23.:04:27.

here, for it to go along is such a harsh penalty. Got to catch this

:04:28.:04:36.

just right. Well, that's what can happen. I'm guessing he didn't

:04:37.:04:49.

really care too much for the lie. The ball seems very heavy in the

:04:50.:05:01.

sand here. Dustin Johnson, this is for a par. Well done. You need more

:05:02.:05:11.

than that, you need skill, a bit of good fortune. Incredible touch.

:05:12.:05:16.

Jordan tried to get two hops before he got to the batting surface and

:05:17.:05:23.

really only got one hop. -- departing surface.

:05:24.:05:27.

-- the putting surface. Back to the mighty man of the moment, Bernhard

:05:28.:05:37.

Langer, at the 17th for a birdie. A magnificent second shot. Up the

:05:38.:05:42.

hill. No. It didn't move, but a four. He's played absolutely

:05:43.:05:51.

superbly today. Mr Turtle, Mr Terrapin. Look at him. A bit of

:05:52.:06:00.

early supper. What a boring diet they have. Blanc are now at 18. --

:06:01.:06:13.

Langer now at 18. The wind is left to right. I think he's lost it. Oh!

:06:14.:06:19.

He will have a swing. A long way back but he will have a swing. Here

:06:20.:06:27.

is Hideki Matsuyama, he has still got this for a birdie at the 15th.

:06:28.:06:33.

He's getting closer, dribbling closer. That is a safe par, but the

:06:34.:06:38.

second shot he struck beautifully and it deserves a birdie. He's got

:06:39.:06:46.

to hoist this Way up in the air. Playing about 7-10 yards left of the

:06:47.:06:54.

hole. Oh! If it had landed more to the left, the ball would have got

:06:55.:07:00.

closer. But that's a good shot. That's very good, he looks very good

:07:01.:07:05.

today, I must say. Meanwhile, back to the far corner of the course, the

:07:06.:07:12.

11th green. Jordan Spieth, our leader. With a par putt. That little

:07:13.:07:20.

chip looked simple from just off the edge of the green, but he was unable

:07:21.:07:24.

to get it closer than about seven or eight yards. No.

:07:25.:07:36.

It's going to be a five. But Rory has got work to do for a six. You

:07:37.:07:47.

can tell he feels good on the greens, Peter, because of the

:07:48.:07:50.

aggressive nature and the way he is putting. Dustin Johnson likes to

:07:51.:08:05.

draw the ball. Not quite enough. You don't see many jump back from their

:08:06.:08:10.

out onto that little hollow, even if they stick in the corner. That is

:08:11.:08:15.

not the easiest of little chips. So delicate, so fast. Now, Rory. Fifth

:08:16.:08:26.

shot. GROANS FROM CROWD

:08:27.:08:33.

Well, it's all beginning to collapse.

:08:34.:08:45.

The 14th tee now, Hideki Matsuyama. The ideal tee shot now would be a

:08:46.:08:52.

bit of a draw. APPLAUSE

:08:53.:09:03.

He is living right! Let's have a look at the 14th hole.

:09:04.:09:27.

A slight dogleg left. The pin quite a bit length and over the years. Now

:09:28.:09:33.

it can be as much as a driver or a 6-iron for some of the players. The

:09:34.:09:38.

green, of course, where all the danger comes into play. Danny

:09:39.:09:45.

Willett, for a birdie. And he's got it, well done. Very well done. A

:09:46.:09:54.

correspondence from a gentleman saying he doesn't come from

:09:55.:09:58.

Sheffield, he comes from Rotherham. Really not my business, but someone

:09:59.:10:03.

is agitated about it. Not as agitated as Rory now, this for a

:10:04.:10:07.

double bogey. Oh! A saviour. If you can call that a saviour. Three shots

:10:08.:10:11.

dropped on the homeward nine already. A burst of eagles and

:10:12.:10:20.

birdies now might save the day. Now would be a great time for Rory to

:10:21.:10:24.

look unflappable, and he does look unflappable, he still has a couple

:10:25.:10:31.

of birdie opportunities. Jordan Spieth still has this touchy little

:10:32.:10:37.

putt down the hill for bogey. It's gone much further apart than I

:10:38.:10:40.

thought, that is a good four and a half feet at least. I say I sense he

:10:41.:10:45.

feels great on the greens because he is able to charge at these putts,

:10:46.:10:50.

but I tell you what, you can go to the well once too often. If this

:10:51.:10:54.

doesn't go in, it's likely to go past the shadow.

:10:55.:11:04.

GROANS FROM CROWD Well, not much comfort for Rory, but

:11:05.:11:09.

quite extraordinary! Good tee shot, just off the green by eight or ten

:11:10.:11:16.

yards, and now he is circumnavigating the hole in a high

:11:17.:11:22.

amateur fashion. This now for a six. You don't like

:11:23.:11:35.

to see good players struggling like this. I don't enjoy it at all. I

:11:36.:11:42.

know you don't like this. The green is so fast and requires such a deft

:11:43.:11:45.

touch, he could have blown on that ball and it would have reached the

:11:46.:11:52.

hole. It is back up the hill and he has holed so many putts today. But

:11:53.:11:59.

he has not had a single gimme two putt. He is agitated too, he is

:12:00.:12:05.

taking a lot of time. I don't expect him to miss this.

:12:06.:12:11.

APPLAUSE And he doesn't. Well, out in 35.

:12:12.:12:27.

Certainly old man Acra temp one is only a shot behind. -- suddenly

:12:28.:12:37.

behind. -- suddenly Langer is -- suddenly Langer is only a shot

:12:38.:12:47.

behind. Well, they both really need to collect themselves, and Langer

:12:48.:12:54.

with a bit of tree trouble here. He's going to have to flight this

:12:55.:12:59.

one and cut it. Can he chase it up to the front of the green? Nearly

:13:00.:13:05.

topped it but it is scuttling up there. Doing it rather well. Gives

:13:06.:13:07.

up the ghost. Jason Day, up the hill. Wants to

:13:08.:13:36.

carry it up onto the flat. Hasn't made it. He knew it when he hit it.

:13:37.:13:42.

He's not out of it yet. Spieth has got some birdie able holed 's but

:13:43.:13:53.

also some dangerous ground to cover. This for a birdie, to get to

:13:54.:14:02.

3-under. Oh! It's not going to turn. A dead straight putt, one of those

:14:03.:14:07.

funny ones. A more wiggly one and dead straight and that pace would

:14:08.:14:13.

have done it. But that is OK. 2-under par. Difficult 18th coming

:14:14.:14:17.

up. Another great looking scene. I've

:14:18.:14:34.

said many times, when you come and there is no one here, it's the

:14:35.:14:40.

blandest looking place, just acres of grass. But when the spectators

:14:41.:14:46.

are here and the pins are in and the azaleas are out, it's a magic couple

:14:47.:14:47.

of acres. Well, that is a super shot coming

:14:48.:15:10.

off double bogey on 11th. That was a very good recovery. Firm and

:15:11.:15:15.

decisive, right over the top of the flag. Good judgment of distance. He

:15:16.:15:22.

is getting a little twitchy! Steady, steady, steady. I'm OK. Now, Rory.

:15:23.:15:31.

Huge shot for Rory McIlroy here. Only 146 yards. But boy it will get

:15:32.:15:38.

the heart racing. APPLAUSE

:15:39.:15:44.

Well, that might be a little spark. You never know. If you can see

:15:45.:15:55.

suddenly a two or a three and on the par-5 the next hole, you never know.

:15:56.:15:58.

Good recovered to end up four or five shots behind the leaders.

:15:59.:16:03.

Bernhard Langer, third shot. Cannot see the bottom of the flag. Oh!

:16:04.:16:10.

That's just a terrible miscue, there. He's going to wonder if he

:16:11.:16:22.

got the right number. Matsuyama. Ideally you want to hit this is a

:16:23.:16:28.

good 20 or 30 feet left of the flag. He looks to have typed it. Will it

:16:29.:16:33.

catch the slope? Looks close, I don't think it will. You can't

:16:34.:16:40.

imagine how fast that putt is. That's probably 25 on the

:16:41.:16:46.

Stimpmeter, that little guy. Dustin Johnson, just off the green, the

:16:47.:16:55.

16th. Looks good! Is another one! He has had a few of those today, just

:16:56.:17:02.

not right up to the edge of the hole.

:17:03.:17:05.

-- just knocked up to the edge of the hole. He's playing a cut shot

:17:06.:17:17.

here, like 90% of the field. Oh yes. That's OK. He may have a little tree

:17:18.:17:27.

trouble there. Now, Danny Willett. The 15th, dangerous shot. The wind

:17:28.:17:31.

has dropped a lots, if you look at the top of the trees they are not

:17:32.:17:35.

moving much. He has given that a good clip. Oh! He didn't do it. He

:17:36.:17:46.

didn't get there and in fact it landed eight or nine yards short. I

:17:47.:17:50.

think it's unnecessary to go at that green with a wood today. It's just a

:17:51.:17:59.

very difficult hole under these conditions. Now he's got to drop it

:18:00.:18:04.

back and he's staring a six in the face.

:18:05.:18:10.

Langer now. Not bad, he will have that for bogey. That was amazing, I

:18:11.:18:25.

thought it was going to die on the edge of the Law on. It has gone past

:18:26.:18:33.

seven or eight feet. Kjeldsen now. Yes... Well, well, well, well... He

:18:34.:18:44.

has been a little shaky on the start of the back nine, but that will perk

:18:45.:18:46.

him up. -- the flattest green on the course

:18:47.:19:05.

here at the 12th. There won't be a lot of movement on this putt either

:19:06.:19:09.

way. It is ever so slightly downhill. A good opportunity for

:19:10.:19:25.

Jordan Spieth. He's got it! Just at the right moment. Quite a bounce

:19:26.:19:37.

back, right there. These guys, like Rory and Spieth and Jason Day, the

:19:38.:19:43.

reason they are on top, I think their success just trumps their fear

:19:44.:19:47.

of failure. What a comeback birdie that was. It was a good putt all the

:19:48.:19:53.

way. Now McIlroy, who was thinking maybe I can sneak one back here,

:19:54.:20:00.

certainly has a difficult putt to hole, just to tread water with him.

:20:01.:20:06.

Chance gone. That has been the difference today, plus a few scrappy

:20:07.:20:19.

shots. McIlroy has hit very few good shots today. Just off-balance.

:20:20.:20:23.

Matsuyama. He will barely touch this. Crazy. Look how fast this is.

:20:24.:20:34.

Settle. Oh! Whoa! Look what I've found! That's the way to stop them!

:20:35.:20:45.

What a bonus. Guinness book of records stuff, there! Started off

:20:46.:20:52.

hardly moving and ended up about 40 kilometres an hour when it hit the

:20:53.:21:00.

hole. And the antithesis of that, putting straight up the hill. Almost

:21:01.:21:07.

nobody reaches from down there. Jason Day no exception. Well, well.

:21:08.:21:14.

Shane Lowry, haven't seen much of him today. He is now 5-over. 7-iron.

:21:15.:21:26.

Jason Day's attempted par. He's got it.

:21:27.:21:44.

APPLAUSE Good round for Jason Day. Three

:21:45.:21:53.

bogeys. Four birdies for Jason Day. 1-under par. Yes, back in the frame.

:21:54.:22:17.

Langer needs this putt at the 9th for a bogey, 485. If he misses it,

:22:18.:22:30.

he will be back to level par. If he misses this, he has played so well

:22:31.:22:34.

and just had a few chances that didn't drop. I know some question

:22:35.:22:38.

whether he is still anchoring the putter, but watch the top of his

:22:39.:22:42.

left hand. It moves when he strokes this, this part is nowhere near

:22:43.:22:49.

anchored. -- this putter is nowhere near anchored.

:22:50.:22:54.

He's done it! Good escape, a very good escape.

:22:55.:23:06.

Very well done. The young and the old. Excellent. Excellent play from

:23:07.:23:22.

the former champion. Former champion twice. Remarkable man. Here we are,

:23:23.:23:30.

the oldest major champions. Old Tom in the middle, wasn't one of his

:23:31.:23:36.

better days. Tom was just a whisker before my time.

:23:37.:23:42.

Spieth at the 13th. Going to swing it around the corner. Look up at the

:23:43.:23:51.

trees, they don't appear to be moving. The wind has almost died

:23:52.:23:55.

away. The forecast for tomorrow is very good indeed, lovely day with

:23:56.:24:03.

very little wind. Danny Willett, after a brave effort from the

:24:04.:24:08.

fairway on 15, coming up short into the water. Now his fourth shot. This

:24:09.:24:13.

is dangerous. It's got to be just right. Get up there and stay.

:24:14.:24:20.

It will stay. He's got a chance for par. Shane Lowry, he is a testy one.

:24:21.:24:30.

Very fluent and long wrist the action. Just flops it up. Well, just

:24:31.:24:37.

caught the face and killed it. Making hard work of this hole,

:24:38.:24:46.

considering it's only a 7-iron. Rory a bit frustrated now, going with

:24:47.:24:50.

driver. If he hits this well he could have little more than a six or

:24:51.:24:56.

7-iron into this green. It's a risky club, he's got to pull it off.

:24:57.:25:02.

Right! That will be right in the top of those trees.

:25:03.:25:05.

That will be right at the top of those trees. The new Nimbus 3000 not

:25:06.:25:18.

working for him today. That lying clear, he might be able to do

:25:19.:25:27.

something with it. This would be some par save for Danny Willett. Not

:25:28.:25:32.

the only one that has bogeyed the 15th today. He will drop back to

:25:33.:25:39.

level par and a tie for sixth place, four shots behind Jordan Spieth. Two

:25:40.:25:47.

sixes on the par fives. The -- well done, sir. Well done indeed.

:25:48.:25:56.

-- Bryson the well, Lowrie hit that shot short of

:25:57.:26:16.

the bunker too good. It hopped a little bit.

:26:17.:26:32.

The 18th, second shot, Smylie Kaufman. He is two under. Very few

:26:33.:26:46.

balls stop there but that's OK. We look at the leaderboard now and

:26:47.:26:53.

Jordan Spieth on 4-under par, Hideki Matsuyama hot on his tail. Jason

:26:54.:26:59.

Day, Danny Willett in with a fighting chance come Sunday. That's

:27:00.:27:01.

all you can ask for. A quick look at the full leaderboard

:27:02.:27:11.

and Jordan Spieth has recovered his composure. Smylie Kaufman, this

:27:12.:27:21.

young man from Alabama, he has had some good form of late. 12 at the

:27:22.:27:25.

Arnold Palmer Invitational. It is not a surprise. Bernhard Langer, on

:27:26.:27:32.

the 30th anniversary of Jack Nicklaus's ticksth green jacket, he

:27:33.:27:38.

was the oldest winner then, Bernard very much in the conversation after

:27:39.:27:47.

that round of 70. Jason Day, the world and one, certainly not out of

:27:48.:27:52.

it. Some four shots behind Jordan Spieth is the world number one.

:27:53.:27:55.

Danny Willett has had his problems and Soren Kjeldsen, six years since

:27:56.:28:00.

he appeared at the Masters and once again playing very well here, just

:28:01.:28:05.

as he did six years ago. Rory McIlroy has had, quite simply, a day

:28:06.:28:12.

to forget so far. Can he try and retrieve some of those shots on the

:28:13.:28:17.

way home? Justin Rose in with a 73. Louis Oosthuizen posted the first

:28:18.:28:26.

sub round of the day with that 71. In 8-19 place. There has not been a

:28:27.:28:30.

huge amount of movement in terms of forward momentum from Jordan Spieth.

:28:31.:28:35.

It's certainly an absolutely jam-packed leaderboard, with so many

:28:36.:28:39.

possibilities over the next few holes and indeed the next few hours.

:28:40.:28:45.

Matsuyama's second shot to the dangerous 15th, going with a fairway

:28:46.:28:52.

wood. This is all carry, you've got to get this just right. Over the

:28:53.:29:01.

green is no bargain either. What a shot! That is so brave. It landed

:29:02.:29:07.

like a butterfly with sore feet, Ken. That was special, high and

:29:08.:29:16.

floated into the breeze. That is such a hard shot. What a brave

:29:17.:29:22.

effort. He flushed his fairway wood into 13 and then went over, flushed

:29:23.:29:28.

it again here at 15 and guest just right.

:29:29.:29:34.

Matsuyama just one shot right. He is a high ball hitter. Smylie Kaufman.

:29:35.:29:53.

Downhill from here. This has got a chance. Marvellous effort. That is

:29:54.:30:01.

one heck of a round today. 69 shots. The wind has died a fraction in the

:30:02.:30:17.

last couple of hours, but 73, 72, 69 for Smylie Kaufman. Look at that

:30:18.:30:22.

card. Danny Willett. This hole is proving

:30:23.:30:43.

quite difficult today. Terrific shot for Danny Willett. The water sticks

:30:44.:30:51.

in on the left side. Where is the hole? Service carries that. It is

:30:52.:30:59.

pushing it, you want to end short. Just right of the pin. Past Masters

:31:00.:31:05.

champions have made this shot look so easy but I can assure you it is

:31:06.:31:10.

not. You've got to get this just right. Hanging lie. See how far

:31:11.:31:16.

right he's playing, he wants to swing it in there over the creek. He

:31:17.:31:24.

is laying up, I think. Laying up all the way for Jordan Spieth. There is

:31:25.:31:28.

some strategy, he refused to make a mistake at 13.

:31:29.:31:40.

Fantastic risk and reward hole, particularly with the pin on the

:31:41.:31:48.

back left, if you miss the green go along it's difficult to get down in

:31:49.:31:53.

two. Disciplined layup from Spieth, McIlroy might not have a chance but

:31:54.:32:00.

to run it down the fairway. I think he had a skanky lie, maybe the ball

:32:01.:32:04.

was sitting down in the pine needles, which it can do, but at

:32:05.:32:08.

least it has scuffled down the fairway. The pressure is enormous on

:32:09.:32:23.

McIlroy to win this golf tournament. I imagine it would feel like going

:32:24.:32:34.

to the dentist and having him say uh oh when he looks in your mouth.

:32:35.:32:42.

Bogey for Shane Lowry, 6-over par. Now Rory Mcllroy's third shot.

:32:43.:32:51.

It is like a little parcel shelf on the back left corner of the green

:32:52.:32:57.

about eight yards by 80 yards. He hasn't found it.

:32:58.:33:09.

Willett down the hill, another treacherous putt. So many fast putts

:33:10.:33:13.

here at Augusta National. Will it? It won't. He really looks

:33:14.:33:36.

to have the feel and the touch of these greens today. He's seeing the

:33:37.:33:46.

lines pretty well. Well, Matsuyama has this putt for an eagle to take

:33:47.:33:51.

the outright lead. This would move him to 5-under. But there is one you

:33:52.:34:01.

are trying to load two feet from the cup, if it gets past the cup it gets

:34:02.:34:14.

very quick. -- lull two feet from the cup.

:34:15.:34:27.

Got to keep running, and it is. It is not bad. Sit down, easy. It

:34:28.:34:40.

always runs out an extra foot or two. I like the decision Jordan made

:34:41.:34:47.

here to layup, playing to his strength, he's not exactly beating

:34:48.:34:53.

the sweet spot to death, and he's misjudged that, that will roll back

:34:54.:34:58.

away, all the way back to where Rory ended up. That's rare. To see Jordan

:34:59.:35:02.

miscue with a wedge. It hit the upslope and

:35:03.:35:23.

skidded a little. It was just never far enough. The risk of going over

:35:24.:35:33.

hast to weigh on your mind. -- has two-way on your mind. Such a hard

:35:34.:35:37.

shot for Dustin Johnson from a long way back on 18.

:35:38.:35:50.

Checking with his caddy, he did not see it bounce. Kjeldsen at 14 now.

:35:51.:36:06.

This is really quick. He has got it to grab, has he got it to grab

:36:07.:36:10.

enough? Doesn't want it to go much further. Please.

:36:11.:36:20.

Off to see the wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz. It was always going to

:36:21.:36:30.

be awkward and he knew it, he is a marvellous chip and putt. STUDIO:

:36:31.:36:38.

Let's have a look at the card of Bernhard Langer with the second-best

:36:39.:36:42.

round of the day, he said, I'm convinced that sooner or later one

:36:43.:36:46.

of the over 50s will win a major. He's in fourth place all on his own,

:36:47.:36:51.

let's get doughnut Langer's take on that marvellous round today.

:36:52.:36:56.

You spoke about how difficult this course was in the wind, what

:36:57.:37:00.

expectations did you have considering the conditions?

:37:01.:37:04.

I expected the worst, I played yesterday in really bad conditions

:37:05.:37:08.

and figured the way it started today with the wind actually stronger, I

:37:09.:37:12.

thought it would be this way all day, I'd better just hold on and be

:37:13.:37:17.

patient and hit solid shots, miss it in the right places where you might

:37:18.:37:21.

get it up and down. And I did for the most part. I was pretty pleased

:37:22.:37:26.

with the round. If somebody said to you at the start of the tournament

:37:27.:37:30.

on the final date you would be contending with somebody who wasn't

:37:31.:37:34.

even born when you played your first Masters, he came along 11 years

:37:35.:37:38.

later, what would you say? It can happen in the game of golf,

:37:39.:37:43.

there are not many other sports where that might be the case but in

:37:44.:37:47.

this game a lot of things are possible. Obviously, it would be a

:37:48.:37:51.

thrill for me to be paired with Jordan tomorrow. I've never played

:37:52.:37:55.

with him. It was great to play with Jason Day today, I had a great time

:37:56.:37:59.

and he's a fine young man and we had a good time out there together. Have

:38:00.:38:03.

a good time again tomorrow, good luck. Thank you, I appreciate it.

:38:04.:38:09.

Legend of the European Tour, Bernhard Langer, and still going

:38:10.:38:15.

strong. That gives you an angle, uphill all the way, the slowest putt

:38:16.:38:19.

he will have all day, he will have to give it a good bash.

:38:20.:38:30.

Once again, another putt. The speed has been off today. This is for

:38:31.:38:39.

birdie for Matsuyama. What a disappointment. That is too bad.

:38:40.:38:56.

Japan's top golfer. If he has a decent lie it's not a bad angle to

:38:57.:39:10.

go at the flag from. He has played a delightful shot. He should make his

:39:11.:39:17.

par at the last. If you want to see somebody hit the ball well a long

:39:18.:39:22.

way go and watch this fellow, he's amazing. McIlroy from a similar spot

:39:23.:39:28.

to Feith, got a little teach on the speed. -- similar spot to Spieth.

:39:29.:39:34.

That's not yet dead either. Soren Kjeldsen, winner of the Irish

:39:35.:39:52.

Open last year at Royal County Down. Up the hill for his par. There is a

:39:53.:40:01.

reason they come up short on those long uphill shots, because they

:40:02.:40:04.

don't want the little knee knock coming back down the hill. There is

:40:05.:40:08.

some wisdom in coming up short, actually. Jordan Spieth has not had

:40:09.:40:15.

many unique two putts today and this is another tester for him. It has

:40:16.:40:24.

some movement to the right. -- gimme two putts. Another one dead centre,

:40:25.:40:32.

the only one he missed was on 11. Spieth has been off but fantastic

:40:33.:40:41.

inside five feet today. Be careful, here. I think Rory might have been

:40:42.:40:48.

better served cranking a 3-wood on 13 than hitting that driver. He

:40:49.:40:57.

needs to just hang tough. It's not over yet for him, he has a couple of

:40:58.:41:01.

birdie opportunities, he should hit a wedge. 14 has an inviting pin,

:41:02.:41:09.

there are birdie chances on the horizon.

:41:10.:41:14.

STUDIO: There are indeed and he took a few on the homeward stretch

:41:15.:41:17.

yesterday. That at the moment it is looking just like that, Smylie

:41:18.:41:23.

Kaufman is the man, the 24-year-old from Birmingham, Alabama, who posted

:41:24.:41:28.

that round of 69, the first round in the 60s since the opening day on

:41:29.:41:31.

Thursday. They have been hard to come by in fierce winds and

:41:32.:41:37.

treacherous conditions, glassy conditions on the Augusta greens.

:41:38.:41:40.

Heartening to see the name of Lee Westwood up there, that round of 71

:41:41.:41:44.

is pushing him closer to the lead. He feels he has a chance as we heard

:41:45.:41:50.

earlier in his interview. Back we go.

:41:51.:41:57.

COMMENTATOR: Star-studded leaderboard, to the man on top,

:41:58.:41:59.

Jordan Spieth. Seemed like he was starting to pull

:42:00.:42:24.

it together, he struggled early with a few shots when he had to let go of

:42:25.:42:29.

the club. That is just find there. He cracked the face of his driver in

:42:30.:42:33.

the first round so he's been fiddling with driver heads and not

:42:34.:42:39.

feeling 100% comfortable, perhaps. As we go to Matsuyama. What a golf

:42:40.:42:45.

swing he has. He has tugged it a little bit. It feeds right back down

:42:46.:42:54.

to the flat. That is a tricky two putt up the hill. We have seen

:42:55.:43:01.

hardly anybody reach the hole from there. Dustin Johnson to clean this

:43:02.:43:05.

up for par and get into the clubhouse at even par, four shots

:43:06.:43:13.

back. Everybody knows his potential, he is great. He has a lot to

:43:14.:43:17.

overcome if he is going to grab the lead at any point tomorrow, it could

:43:18.:43:21.

become excruciating for him because of what happened at the US Open,

:43:22.:43:25.

Doctor compartmentalised those sort of things. Rory, now. Sits up nicely

:43:26.:43:37.

for his draw. Is it coming? -- got to compartmentalised. It shoots

:43:38.:43:42.

forward as it bounces, the perfect flight but it has trickled into the

:43:43.:43:48.

light rough, but OK, great angle into that green. He blasted down

:43:49.:43:56.

there. May be a sand wedge. This is a Burnley birdie opportunity. Let's

:43:57.:44:04.

see if Bryson DeChambeau can improve on yesterday's effort. Yes, he has.

:44:05.:44:09.

The goal was to keep it short of the bunkers. Oh boy, that's the Sandy

:44:10.:44:17.

Lyle bunker. Shane Lowry at 6-over. A few Irish

:44:18.:44:25.

fans out there cheering him on. That's OK there.

:44:26.:44:36.

STUDIO: So what of the world number one Jason Day? He's had second place

:44:37.:44:39.

and third place at the Masters, and that round of 71 today is his first

:44:40.:44:44.

under par for the week, leaving him for the moment some four shots

:44:45.:44:48.

behind Jordan Spieth. Let's hear from the man who's been on a hot

:44:49.:44:52.

streak of form coming here to Augusta.

:44:53.:44:55.

Jason, there were moments today when it looked as if you are close to

:44:56.:44:58.

some of your best golf, would that be fair? I would say so.

:44:59.:45:04.

It is not quite as tight as it has been. But, you know, sometimes it

:45:05.:45:09.

isn't and you've got to get the job done somehow. Fortunately for me, to

:45:10.:45:16.

get it back to even par today was a good score. I was very pleased with

:45:17.:45:20.

grinding it out and getting in the clubhouse with the score eyeshot

:45:21.:45:24.

today. Having had a look at the leaderboard

:45:25.:45:28.

and knowing where certain people are, what do you think your chances

:45:29.:45:30.

are come Sunday? It depends on where the other guys

:45:31.:45:36.

are at the end of the day. That will determine what I will have to do

:45:37.:45:41.

tomorrow. The pin locations, how firm the greens are, how fast they

:45:42.:45:47.

are, also determines if I can force things or not. I know that I don't

:45:48.:45:51.

really like to force things, I like to be patient with myself and try

:45:52.:45:54.

and gather momentum through patients. So we will see how it

:45:55.:46:01.

goes. It is to finish out there -- patience. The wind will die down

:46:02.:46:05.

more than today so that should open up scoring opportunities for the

:46:06.:46:09.

guys later in the day. We wish you the best of luck tomorrow. Thank

:46:10.:46:10.

you. COMMENTATOR: Snedeker. Third shot at

:46:11.:46:17.

15. That is another one that is safety

:46:18.:46:35.

first. Into the wind, they know it could land pin high and spin all the

:46:36.:46:38.

way back into the water. Sometimes safety is a good thing, if you play

:46:39.:46:44.

snooker you play a safety shot and get yourself into position and not

:46:45.:46:48.

be over aggressive. Especially when you play like he does. That has come

:46:49.:46:53.

up way short from down at the bottom.

:46:54.:47:01.

The pin is on a little ledge. I like this club. I do too. It is critical

:47:02.:47:15.

that the ball flies over the false front here.

:47:16.:47:25.

He wants the cover number, that's the key number. He wants to land

:47:26.:47:33.

this about where the pine tree is leaning into the picture. Coming out

:47:34.:47:38.

of the light rough might help because you wanted to release, land

:47:39.:47:43.

eight yards to the left of the pin and then it checks around. If you

:47:44.:47:48.

get it right it gathers to the hole side. Long is better than short.

:47:49.:48:01.

Watch it, watch it. This is going to be nice, Ken. It is going to be very

:48:02.:48:15.

nice. A little unlucky, hit a bit of fluff on the green, don't know if it

:48:16.:48:21.

is from a pine tree, but he couldn't have played it any better. There are

:48:22.:48:32.

no bunkers on this hole, it is not a copy of the seventh at St Andrews.

:48:33.:48:45.

It's OK. Huge putt for Matsuyama. That is two

:48:46.:49:00.

in a row he has missed left, two shorties in a row. It becomes a

:49:01.:49:10.

mental battle with those little Rascals. Danny is in a terribly

:49:11.:49:20.

tricky spot here. He struck it nicely but it just trickles down the

:49:21.:49:24.

slope. If he pitched it on the back it would come back to his feet, so

:49:25.:49:26.

OK. Now he is on the back ledge. Because

:49:27.:49:38.

you are hitting up to the green can breeze if it goes on to the back

:49:39.:49:41.

ledge it skids forwards because it is coming a bit flat. Very awkward

:49:42.:49:45.

from there. STUDIO: Things continue to move in

:49:46.:49:50.

the third round of the 80th playing of the Masters, right now only four

:49:51.:49:55.

men under par. We started the day 7-under par and it has become very

:49:56.:49:59.

chock-a-block there. Jordan Spieth clinging on, started at four under,

:50:00.:50:04.

remaining there. Smylie Kaufman has made the best progress of anyone

:50:05.:50:09.

today picking up three shots, Hideki Matsuyama as we have seen, a few

:50:10.:50:12.

frailties with the putter and Bernhard Langer is still in there

:50:13.:50:16.

with the round of 70 today. What a history he has had at the Masters.

:50:17.:50:21.

He played his first ever Masters in 82, 85 he won his first. In 1993 he

:50:22.:50:28.

wins his second Masters and he's given that jacket. Ben Crenshaw, his

:50:29.:50:34.

second one in 1993, in April, and a few months later Jordan Spieth was

:50:35.:50:39.

born. That is how long he has been around.

:50:40.:50:44.

COMMENTATOR: Matsuyama. 17th tee, trying to drill it through the pine

:50:45.:51:02.

trees. A little left. Tee-shots are always more difficult if you miss a

:51:03.:51:06.

couple of short putts. That is a beauty. Just off the fairway. That

:51:07.:51:16.

might make a bit of a difference. Take a wonder of the 17th, 440 yards

:51:17.:51:22.

Ike's Tree used to be in this area, the great big pine tree that used to

:51:23.:51:26.

get in the way but it got blown away in the storms a couple of years ago.

:51:27.:51:30.

Quite a straight hole. This fairway was 60 yards wide when I first came

:51:31.:51:34.

here and they have tweaked it into 30, quite narrow command added the

:51:35.:51:39.

pines on the right, a fraction up the hill, on cited when it is on the

:51:40.:51:44.

right-hand side, and wind swirls around, clubs selection is never

:51:45.:51:54.

easy. -- on cited. Bryson DeChambeau's third shot at 18,

:51:55.:51:57.

Dustin Johnson just played a wonderful shot from here. He raked

:51:58.:52:05.

the bunker well. Way up there. That was pretty brave. Once you have got

:52:06.:52:11.

your lob wedge with a 37 and a half inch shaft those shots are not as

:52:12.:52:15.

easy, all of these irons are the same length, so his short irons are

:52:16.:52:22.

very long. Come on Connery, give us something to cheer about and

:52:23.:52:28.

yourself. A good break with his second, Noghes it in, down the

:52:29.:52:29.

slope. -- nudge it in. One of those

:52:30.:52:47.

snapping turtles making a move for the Sunshine. That is not a snapper.

:52:48.:52:54.

It looks pretty mean to me. That is to shake turtle -- touche turtle.

:52:55.:53:02.

CHUCKLES Of all the players on Tour I would

:53:03.:53:16.

love to have this guy with a microphone. I always felt it would

:53:17.:53:20.

be great if players would agree to wear heart rate monitors. Equally

:53:21.:53:28.

good if somebody like Jordan wore a microphone. I think he's worried

:53:29.:53:31.

because the ball is on a slope and that it might trickle away. You can

:53:32.:53:37.

only just place it, you are not allowed to push it down into the

:53:38.:53:41.

ground or anything like that, you can only place the ball. If you

:53:42.:53:47.

think that you have to be careful here about grounding your putter

:53:48.:53:51.

with his once you do you will be deemed to have been the one to cause

:53:52.:53:57.

it to move. This is very quick, with left to right swing. He's been

:53:58.:54:07.

deadly on these today. And yet another, opened up a three shot lead

:54:08.:54:11.

over Smylie Kaufman and Hideki Matsuyama. He has really righted the

:54:12.:54:23.

ship after the double bogey on 11. I can't tell you how difficult this

:54:24.:54:28.

shot is. The fringe facing him, the grass growing into him and when he

:54:29.:54:31.

hits the green it is all downhill, but if there is a man to do it this

:54:32.:54:41.

is the man. Landed twice on the fringe and that is down where the

:54:42.:54:43.

flag will be tomorrow. It would only have taken two more

:54:44.:54:59.

rolls to go off the green and down the slope.

:55:00.:55:07.

The wind is at him. Will it stay? No that is long. Too bad, the shelf is

:55:08.:55:27.

only about six or seven yards wide there. It is a tall order even with

:55:28.:55:30.

an 8-iron. From the lower tier, and it is quite

:55:31.:55:52.

steep, the putter at the 18th. Keep running, keep running. Good

:55:53.:55:58.

effortful stop the pin is on 30 from the front of the Green so that was

:55:59.:56:03.

the best part of 80 feet. -- good effort.

:56:04.:56:09.

This will be a great experience from Shane Lowry and one he will take

:56:10.:56:20.

with him now. Scott Piercy. It is so difficult to get any kind of wood to

:56:21.:56:25.

stop on this green. You can tell by his setup he's got to play a cut.

:56:26.:56:30.

That is definitely a cut swing, there is no left in that. Yes, there

:56:31.:56:42.

it goes. Good luck on that one. That will require all you have got for

:56:43.:56:49.

touch, go to have a good lie. If it feet by you are in the water. Back

:56:50.:56:55.

on the tee, Jordan Spieth, the leader, going with the driver.

:56:56.:57:07.

Two massive hits to reach the green in two so I suspect he will lay up

:57:08.:57:12.

again. He might be hooked slightly by the

:57:13.:57:27.

pine tree here. Straight downwind, must clear the bunker. He hits moon

:57:28.:57:35.

shots, and he has won for the moon here. Is it right? I don't know. It

:57:36.:57:45.

might still be climbing. I don't know. Rory?

:57:46.:57:52.

This will be the full blast. A little bit of drawing. Don't overdo

:57:53.:58:06.

it, he has parked himself behind a clump of trees, I think.

:58:07.:58:20.

Augusta is like no other golf course. When you play well at this

:58:21.:58:28.

golf tournament it carries with you. That is a rough start in heavy

:58:29.:58:33.

windfall Shane Lowry. It just never happened for him today. Only one

:58:34.:58:38.

birdie. I believe he will carry some confidence out of this week.

:58:39.:58:43.

DeChambeau missed his par putt and he just three putted from five feet

:58:44.:58:50.

and this hole has eaten his lunch, 5-over the last two days here at 18.

:58:51.:59:00.

72, 72, 77 today, a most impressive player, keep your eyes on this

:59:01.:59:06.

fellow, Bryson looks to be the real deal.

:59:07.:59:20.

He's had a few blips over the years, his last four masters and on each

:59:21.:59:31.

day he's had a poor score. Even last year when he finished well up he had

:59:32.:59:38.

nine holes of 40. He's played a lot of marvellous golf, Rory, but the

:59:39.:59:47.

occasional bad nine holes. Hideki. That is the most ugly spot. Slope

:59:48.:59:56.

coming into him, grain into him, top of the hill, the green runs away

:59:57.:59:59.

from him, where will you landed? Are you going to run it? You cannot fly

:00:00.:00:04.

it all the way. He's looking at the turf to see if he could pitch it in,

:00:05.:00:10.

he could go with a 3-iron, a 3-wood, this is so difficult. It may be a

:00:11.:00:13.

shot he hasn't practised because you don't expect to be over here. Scott

:00:14.:00:20.

Piercy, after hitting a terrific second, but going over the green.

:00:21.:00:24.

This is so delicate. It skidded off the collar. Settle, settle. Easy. I

:00:25.:00:33.

think that is water. Settle. That has gone. That is exactly what I was

:00:34.:00:44.

referring to. Now he has got to go back on the other side of the pond

:00:45.:00:51.

and pitch back across it. Things can turn on a dime here. Goodness.

:00:52.:00:58.

Fyfield the key here is just to make sure you get it up over that slope.

:00:59.:01:06.

You don't want it coming back to where you are now. You've got to

:01:07.:01:11.

take your medicine. We say at home, take your beating like a man. It's

:01:12.:01:17.

very tricky, even if you play a good shot, it's so easy for it to come

:01:18.:01:25.

back to you all ago 30 feet by. Try and get cute and you will be on half

:01:26.:01:34.

a dozen here. Look at this. No, you cannot! What a terrific effort,

:01:35.:01:41.

there. Opportunity to save par for Hideki Matsuyama. You see, it has

:01:42.:01:49.

run off just a bit more than it looked from that other angle. He has

:01:50.:01:53.

still got a good 15 feet. Danny Willett up the hill. Five shots off

:01:54.:01:59.

the pace. A birdie would go a long way here. That is a good shot. He

:02:00.:02:14.

gets to putt right up the hill. Pretty straight putt, he will be

:02:15.:02:18.

pretty happy when he sees that. Jordan Spieth now with a layup all

:02:19.:02:29.

the way. He's using his very saucy way of playing these par fives, and

:02:30.:02:34.

why not? He's had a difficult time in the worst of the weather. A lot

:02:35.:02:40.

of players have got within touching distance. There's only one day and a

:02:41.:02:47.

few holes left. The results of that second shot from Danny Willett. We

:02:48.:02:53.

saw this birdie putt. Can he finish? With a birdie?

:02:54.:03:01.

In it goes and that is a level par round of 72, very good round for

:03:02.:03:21.

Danny Willett. Just five behind. Needs a couple of birdies -- a

:03:22.:03:28.

couple of birdies on six and seven. A mixture on the way back in. Two

:03:29.:03:33.

birdies and two bogeys. But a very tidy round. Well, there is an old

:03:34.:03:40.

song called when you come to the end of a perfect day, and this has not

:03:41.:03:44.

been a perfect day. In someways I guess it has for some, but for these

:03:45.:03:49.

golfers it's been a very, very trying day. And I don't think

:03:50.:03:55.

tomorrow will be all that much easier. Maybe a little wind, but the

:03:56.:04:02.

flag positions and the speed of the greens, the anticipation and the

:04:03.:04:04.

nerves all play their part. Now then, up and left to right. Oh!

:04:05.:04:29.

It went the other way. A pity there, he has stumbled a bit in the last

:04:30.:04:34.

four or five holes. He was going along so nicely. Suddenly may

:04:35.:04:38.

pressure or nerves got to him a bit in the last few holes. Struggled at

:04:39.:04:45.

the 15th, did not get a birdie there or at the 15th. Still a four at the

:04:46.:04:51.

last, and that is no easy task, four at the last hole now. Spieth is

:04:52.:04:59.

still three shots clear of his nearest challenger, who is now

:05:00.:05:10.

Smylie Kaufman. Bernard -- Bernhard Langer on 1-under. Lee Westwood

:05:11.:05:14.

finished some time ago with that 71, which at the time was the joint best

:05:15.:05:19.

round of the day but conditions have dampened out now and the wind has

:05:20.:05:23.

cropped as was forecast, so a chance for those finishing towards the end.

:05:24.:05:30.

Scott Piercy, after he skidded towards the water. This for it's

:05:31.:05:42.

come the same distance back. Not done yet.

:05:43.:05:46.

Scott Piercy in all sorts of misery at the 15th. It will be a long wait

:05:47.:05:55.

for the group behind, which is Spieth and McIlroy, watching all

:05:56.:06:02.

this fun. He was a couple of feet away with his pitch, Piercy, from

:06:03.:06:06.

over the back of the green, from being not too bad at all. But it is

:06:07.:06:16.

an eight. That has put him back. Dropped shots at ten and 11, and

:06:17.:06:24.

three dropped shots at the 15th. So, third shot for Spieth.

:06:25.:06:37.

He was saying a 15... You see the slope there, you don't want to be

:06:38.:07:04.

short. Yes, good result. Excellent result. I think it was Zach Johnson

:07:05.:07:15.

when he won here who laid up at all the par fives. When Langer won, he

:07:16.:07:25.

got terrible pelt is for laying up. I can't understand that, but there

:07:26.:07:33.

we are. Come on, Rory. Let's have a bit of sparkle to go to bed with.

:07:34.:07:38.

That's better. His swing has been a bit laboured

:07:39.:07:54.

today. Don't ask me why. Ms, apprehension? Whatever. It just has

:07:55.:07:56.

not been there. Calm conditions forecast tomorrow.

:07:57.:08:18.

But this has been a lot of chasing for McIlroy. Spieth in control now.

:08:19.:08:25.

Very focused, no waving to the crowd, eyes straight ahead. Not the

:08:26.:08:36.

gladiatorial battle we thought it would be today, by any means. Do you

:08:37.:08:49.

remember 1990, the open at St Andrews? Jack Nicklaus,

:08:50.:08:57.

back-to-back. He has done it. He was the first. Nick Faldo in 89 and 90

:08:58.:08:59.

and then Woods after that. Not many, and some greats of the

:09:00.:09:19.

game. His record here is quite ridiculous. On course at the moment

:09:20.:09:25.

for first place again but still a long way to go. The 18th tee,

:09:26.:09:29.

Matsuyama. You have to be aware of all the

:09:30.:10:02.

things going on around you here as well. Danny Lee and Scott Piercy. We

:10:03.:10:08.

haven't seen much of Danny Lee, he is back to 3-over. Giant pine trees

:10:09.:10:19.

stretching saddos across the green for McIlroy. One of these has to

:10:20.:10:22.

drop. He has read the greens so badly

:10:23.:10:42.

today, he really has. I was thinking, remember when Charl

:10:43.:10:46.

Schwartzel won here? He finished with four birdies. But he's miles

:10:47.:10:51.

today, he's just out of kilter today. Of course, the worse he

:10:52.:11:00.

plays, the more confidence it in stills in Spieth. He can't wait for

:11:01.:11:06.

the end of this round. The way Spieth has been putting, I

:11:07.:11:20.

wouldn't bet against him holing this one.

:11:21.:11:32.

Well, it's a similar comparison with how McIlroy fared.

:11:33.:11:51.

CHEERING In she goes. Beautiful touch, pace,

:11:52.:12:02.

judgment and speed. Birdie. In terms of dealing with these greens, it's

:12:03.:12:07.

an exhibition. He loves the challenge of these greens, how hard

:12:08.:12:13.

they are, how fast they run, the brakes on the slopes. It's

:12:14.:12:20.

remarkable. And he is now four shots clear. He just touched it. You've

:12:21.:12:29.

got to get the line, the speed, the judgment. The judgment was perfect.

:12:30.:12:38.

A big swing, 12, 14 inches. It just eases its way into the hole.

:12:39.:12:44.

Beautiful judgment. I don't know why they're going in! But they are.

:12:45.:12:58.

Well, I guess Rory McIlroy must have holed his, but but our host

:12:59.:13:13.

broadcaster missed it. Now, Snedeker. A bit of a bobble,

:13:14.:13:19.

there. Stays 1-over, Brandt Snedeker. We

:13:20.:13:49.

are seeing Rory pop it in, that's good. But it's only a par. Another

:13:50.:14:00.

shot behind Spieth. Look at that. Started with a 1-shot lead. Four in

:14:01.:14:03.

front now. Ben Hogan was the defending champion

:14:04.:14:14.

after he had a marvellous 1953, came in in 1954 and held the outright

:14:15.:14:29.

lead, but couldn't win that year. Looking down the 18th and now

:14:30.:14:34.

looking up. You get some idea of the slope here. You can't see the green

:14:35.:14:38.

at all, it's hidden away. Those big towers behind the green are where

:14:39.:14:43.

CBS, the television boys cooperate from. They like to be out on the

:14:44.:14:50.

course. Those are permanent fixtures, they drop them down or

:14:51.:14:58.

dismantle them, they disappear into the ground, they do something with

:14:59.:15:01.

them, and then they just pop up like mushrooms.

:15:02.:15:10.

He has kept his rhythm going. But a little ungainly. The right shoulder

:15:11.:15:23.

riding up and a bit of a heave. Let's see how he does here. Well,

:15:24.:15:31.

that was a little better, but a bit violent. Excellent result, if it

:15:32.:15:45.

stops. And it does. Coming down wind and trying to hit it as hard as he

:15:46.:15:50.

could and see if he gets any stop on it. That is a good effort.

:15:51.:16:02.

Matsuyama, fifth last year. Nakajima was inside the top ten one-year.

:16:03.:16:15.

Back to the shadows of the 16th. Back to the bad stuff for the first

:16:16.:16:21.

few holes. He needs a bounce down and he gets it. Just about where

:16:22.:16:26.

Jason Day was. Difficult to judge the pace, coming down from there.

:16:27.:16:32.

That was a very nervy one, wasn't it? Wasn't good at all. But he is

:16:33.:16:43.

four ahead. Here is Rory, now. He has had a bit of encouragement at

:16:44.:16:48.

times but he hasn't taken advantage of it. Steady. I can't believe it.

:16:49.:16:58.

That is the way his day has gone. That was within a foot of being good

:16:59.:17:03.

and now it is down there. A day to forget, not a day to remember.

:17:04.:17:10.

Well, it has certainly been a day to forget for Rory McIlroy, because

:17:11.:17:17.

this man, Danny Willett, has overtaken him as the top player from

:17:18.:17:20.

a home perspective, the United Kingdom. Danny from Sheffield, the

:17:21.:17:26.

world number 12, also level par for the tournament after that round of

:17:27.:17:30.

72 today. Currently in a tie for fifth. Four birdies and four bogeys

:17:31.:17:34.

on the way. I wonder how he will reflect on his day's work. Four

:17:35.:17:41.

birdies, four bogeys, how much were you tested today? I played related

:17:42.:17:49.

golf but didn't convert a few chances. The wind was here, there

:17:50.:17:53.

and everywhere at times. A couple of silly mistakes from the middle of

:17:54.:17:58.

the fairways. But 72 again, it's a good score out there. It's tricky,

:17:59.:18:02.

the wind is swirling and the greens are firming up and getting fast. It

:18:03.:18:06.

would be nice to peg one or two more. How are you feeling about your

:18:07.:18:10.

chances of perhaps winning this tomorrow. It's going to need a low

:18:11.:18:15.

one. You're looking at the numbers today and the forecast is supposed

:18:16.:18:19.

to be better tomorrow and you're looking at I would have said six or

:18:20.:18:23.

seven, potentially. If it is that, you're going to have to shoot a

:18:24.:18:27.

pretty special round on Sunday at Augusta. But we are in there with a

:18:28.:18:31.

chance, we're up there competing. We will just have to see what it

:18:32.:18:34.

brings. We wish you the best of luck. Thank you.

:18:35.:18:39.

Not such a good day for this man. Talking about the order around he

:18:40.:18:48.

has had in Masters years where he has blown himself out of contention.

:18:49.:18:56.

In 2012, 69 in the first two rounds and the following year, 72, 70 and

:18:57.:19:01.

then a 79 in the third round. Looking at the youngest two-time

:19:02.:19:07.

champions, Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Seve, and Horton Smith. My

:19:08.:19:15.

father played him in the Ryder Cup in about 1937, I think. And the

:19:16.:19:26.

result? I'm too modest to say, but I think father won. They go through

:19:27.:19:33.

practice rounds and they practice a lot of putts from down here because

:19:34.:19:37.

they know you don't have to be off by too much and they know the pain

:19:38.:19:40.

is going to be there on one of the two days, usually the Saturday. It's

:19:41.:19:44.

still a marvellous scene when the sun filters through the -- filters

:19:45.:19:52.

through and the shadows get longer. Rory is a long way. This is so slow

:19:53.:19:59.

up here. When you're conscious it's so slow, it's very easy to knock it

:20:00.:20:06.

five or six feet past. If he gets down in two from here, that's almost

:20:07.:20:12.

like a birdie. He must be further away than Spieth but he played

:20:13.:20:13.

first. Come along. Come along... Not bad,

:20:14.:20:28.

not bad at all. What Jordan Spieth has got there,

:20:29.:20:50.

this is difficult. It's immensely difficult. He has got no bunker to

:20:51.:20:58.

content with, but it's just a question of hitting the speed. This

:20:59.:21:04.

is one that if you were just fooling about, you might putt it, but he has

:21:05.:21:08.

taking something very lofted, he's just going to pitch it short of the

:21:09.:21:12.

green and hope for the best. And it's come off. Well, it stuck. Very

:21:13.:21:18.

tricky to get it right. The way he has been putting, that should hold

:21:19.:21:21.

no great fears. . It's a gimme. Well, they've now been out for four

:21:22.:21:42.

hours in a two ball with really nobody in the way, no spectators to

:21:43.:21:48.

avoid. Very slow going. They've still got three to play, so another

:21:49.:21:57.

40 minutes. And there will be talk and there will be this and that, but

:21:58.:22:01.

nobody does anything. The players are the ones that will do it. If

:22:02.:22:06.

they suddenly decide to get a move on, save a minute each on every

:22:07.:22:12.

hole, that would save a lot of golf's problems.

:22:13.:22:25.

We can go to the final green and Hideki Matsuyama.

:22:26.:22:45.

Not to be, so Matsuyama will settle for a par on the last and shoot a

:22:46.:22:54.

level par round of 72. That is a good score. He's missed a few

:22:55.:22:58.

chances. He's kept himself going well with a round of 35.

:22:59.:23:03.

-- is a back nine of 35. He had other chances he was not able to

:23:04.:23:09.

take. Spieth now. Oh! Well, just the pace that saved

:23:10.:23:26.

him but another aggro stroke drops for Jordan Spieth and he maintains

:23:27.:23:31.

that gulf between himself and Smylie Kaufman. 6-under, Jordan Spieth.

:23:32.:23:36.

These last few holes, the ground he has made... Really has become quite

:23:37.:23:44.

a gentle evening out there, now that that wind has gone. Rory finishing

:23:45.:23:47.

off. That is the three. APPLAUSE

:23:48.:24:02.

Just a couple of holes left. They both might have dropped shots there,

:24:03.:24:09.

but they both got their par-3s. Just look at this, the pace. Going there.

:24:10.:24:15.

A bit faster and that would have gone by the edge, but it didn't.

:24:16.:24:20.

Perfect speed and the result is a three. Now to the 17th tee. Just

:24:21.:24:31.

going to try and work out when Rory McIlroy's last birdie free round at

:24:32.:24:38.

Augusta was. When I say work-out, I'm hoping that I say it and

:24:39.:24:43.

somebody sends me the details... I'll find out! Without a birdie in

:24:44.:24:50.

this final round. The 17th different without the Eisenhower tree. It

:24:51.:24:55.

looks entirely different and it's a much easier drive really, because

:24:56.:24:59.

that tree had grown quite high and if you were not able to miss it on

:25:00.:25:03.

the right, many players battered into it. -- clattered into it.

:25:04.:25:24.

Fore! Well, he's pushed a few today, hasn't he? Hit the tree and came

:25:25.:25:38.

backwards. Hit the tree and came backwards, up towards the 15th

:25:39.:25:42.

fairway. "Why Do I do that? Don't tell

:25:43.:25:49.

Justin Rose did that a few years ago. You can drive loosely at

:25:50.:25:57.

Augusta but you cannot putt loosely. He has driven loose on occasion but

:25:58.:26:05.

he has parted well. You can get away with some errant stuff at Augusta.

:26:06.:26:09.

Big wide fairways will stop oh, you can. Apart from the ponds, there's

:26:10.:26:14.

not really any rough. It is still Augusta.

:26:15.:26:17.

STUDIO It sure is. Smylie Kaufman has

:26:18.:26:24.

certainly mastered it today with that back nine. A rare around in the

:26:25.:26:28.

60s. Only the second major Championship he has ever played in

:26:29.:26:32.

and he's looking likely to accompany Jordan Spieth in the final pairing

:26:33.:26:36.

in the final round. Let's hear from Smylie. There he is. Everyone says

:26:37.:26:44.

that every round you play at Augusta you learn something. What have you

:26:45.:26:49.

learned over the last three days? Just to stay patient. The conditions

:26:50.:26:52.

call for you to stay patient out there. It is my first Masters. I

:26:53.:26:59.

played on the course in the weeks before the event and set up a ready

:27:00.:27:03.

good game plan. I've just been trying to hit some certain spots and

:27:04.:27:06.

try and give myself as many looks for birdies as I could. I knew that

:27:07.:27:11.

par was a relief that score and so far it has worked really well.

:27:12.:27:15.

Someone tells you you are in your first Masters and you have a sniff

:27:16.:27:19.

of the lead, what would you say to them? I wouldn't be too surprised, I

:27:20.:27:24.

like to think my ability is there that I can compete with the best.

:27:25.:27:29.

This year has been a big Rumford and is booster for me, competing with

:27:30.:27:33.

these big names every week. Try and keep it going into tomorrow and see

:27:34.:27:36.

what happens. Wish you the best of luck. Appreciate it. Smylie's

:27:37.:27:47.

grandfather was golf coach at the University of Alabama. Isn't it good

:27:48.:27:54.

there are so many people playing professional golf at the high level

:27:55.:28:01.

and so many counties. Over 1500 golfers under the age of 16 or 17 in

:28:02.:28:08.

organised competitions, encouraging them to get into organised

:28:09.:28:14.

competition in golf. Here is the best youngster in the game. Jordan

:28:15.:28:17.

Spieth will be heading off to the 15th fairway. Give me five feet.

:28:18.:28:28.

What has he got to go through? He can squirt that through by the looks

:28:29.:28:34.

of it. No heavy rough, it's a huge bonus. The rest of the field just

:28:35.:28:47.

wants something from him, just a slip. Even though he has been fairly

:28:48.:28:51.

loose from the tee on occasion, he doesn't look like making a mistake

:28:52.:28:55.

on the greens. He can always salvage something with that wand. I thought

:28:56.:29:02.

he was very suspect on the first two or three holes. McIlroy couldn't put

:29:03.:29:06.

any pressure on him and didn't play well, and Spieth holed son great

:29:07.:29:13.

saving putts. And that was it. Now, he's going to try and come through

:29:14.:29:17.

there but he's going to try and get a bit of cut on it. He's going to

:29:18.:29:21.

try and get it by the green. There is a big bunker in front. You would

:29:22.:29:34.

say his chances of getting a four are not very high. But with his

:29:35.:29:38.

magic part, anything is possible. Well, they carry on with their

:29:39.:29:54.

deliberations. Michael Grella, a former teacher who took his bag when

:29:55.:30:00.

he was participating in a tournament in the north-west... He lives in the

:30:01.:30:04.

Chambers Bay area and landed the back of Jordan Spieth as a memento.

:30:05.:30:12.

Ingo. Pretty good job, well paid. Now, a pretty straightfaced iron. It

:30:13.:30:18.

could be a long chip for eight 4-iron, 5-iron, that sort of thing,

:30:19.:30:22.

aiming at those trees just beyond the top of his head and hoping to

:30:23.:30:27.

squirt it round, pitch up and hole the putt. Easy said, easy said.

:30:28.:30:45.

Cut it round. It looks pretty good. CHUCKLES

:30:46.:30:56.

Yes. A bit of spin on it as well. After the two shot, very good,

:30:57.:31:02.

Andrew, very good. STUDIO

:31:03.:31:05.

It certainly is. Time and time again he recovers and rescues his chances

:31:06.:31:10.

and many of these holes around Augusta. We are overrunning here but

:31:11.:31:16.

we're going to stay with live coverage of round three until the

:31:17.:31:20.

conclusion of play, until Jordan Spieth holed his final putt at the

:31:21.:31:24.

18th. That is our plan here, as the shadows lengthen. Quiet please.

:31:25.:31:43.

PETER ALLISS: We have not seen a shot holed for some time. Are we

:31:44.:31:52.

going to see a miracle? That is a good shot.

:31:53.:32:04.

ANDREW COTTER: Still a chance of a birdie-birdie finish, but I think

:32:05.:32:09.

his chances have gone in this year's Masters now. Too far behind. Having

:32:10.:32:14.

said that, he is capable of landing a few birdies early tomorrow.

:32:15.:32:22.

HAZEL IRVINE: Dustin Johnson has been an ever present at the sharp

:32:23.:32:27.

end of Majors in the last couple of years. And he shot a 72 today. Best

:32:28.:32:34.

here last year was tied sixth. He is top five right now. I wonder what he

:32:35.:32:41.

makes of his day's work. Dustin, in light of the wind and the

:32:42.:32:45.

conditions, how good a school was that today? I think it was a great

:32:46.:32:49.

score. It is very tough out there. The conditions are very difficult.

:32:50.:32:53.

The pin placements, the greens are running really fast. And it is very

:32:54.:32:59.

windy. So I was very pleased with even par. I felt like I played

:33:00.:33:04.

really solid all day. I had a lot of good looks at birdies, did not make

:33:05.:33:09.

any of them, but Riewoldt I hit good putts, just burning the edges. It is

:33:10.:33:20.

tough conditions out there. The weather conditions are set to

:33:21.:33:24.

improve tomorrow - could you go on the attack tomorrow on this course?

:33:25.:33:28.

Yes, in will depend on what hole it is, where the flag is. It does not

:33:29.:33:34.

matter if there is no wind, there is a lot of pin placements they can put

:33:35.:33:37.

out here that you still can't attack them. Tomorrow is going to be all

:33:38.:33:44.

about just putting myself in a position to have a chance.

:33:45.:33:52.

Back to the final pair. Spieth, third shot at the 17th. Our leader.

:33:53.:34:04.

He has struggled today, but he has struggled well. He has putted well,

:34:05.:34:07.

he has got out of jail time and time again. Judgment of speed, but she

:34:08.:34:17.

goes... Going to be well short. That was never going at the flag. And he

:34:18.:34:21.

has been rather lucky that it just sat down and has not rolled back.

:34:22.:34:32.

Not got an easy putt left. It is moments like this, Rory has had an

:34:33.:34:43.

opportunity, he would miss, and two shots would change hands. But

:34:44.:34:51.

McIlroy has had no such luck. Jordan Spieth is on top of the community of

:34:52.:35:00.

putting stats. 1.4 average per hole, tied with Larry Mize.

:35:01.:35:13.

Souza Roy, we have said it before, just trying to find one putt to

:35:14.:35:33.

drop. -- Souza Roy. Very interesting small leaderboard there. A couple of

:35:34.:35:38.

relatively unknown names. McIlroy, having one of those days.

:35:39.:35:59.

Disturbed. Has not had a birdie today. Oh, I thought that was in.

:36:00.:36:16.

That was white there, but managed to slip by. Only a par. If you are

:36:17.:36:34.

wanting the comparison, a lot more putt for McIlroy. Sometimes that has

:36:35.:36:40.

to be qualified, with Spieth perhaps missing a few more greens. But

:36:41.:36:45.

McIlroy really thought he had that one. A day he will remember for a

:36:46.:36:58.

long time. Well, maybe not too long. This man, well, this putt must be

:36:59.:37:00.

all of 7-8 yards. Once you go past the hole, if you

:37:01.:37:26.

have misjudged it at all, you can be six-eightft away in a flash.

:37:27.:37:44.

Well, that is a shot dropped. Caused by a poor tee shot. And he has got

:37:45.:37:57.

this formidable 18th coming up, who is no pushover, to get a four.

:37:58.:38:10.

HAZEL IRVINE: Spieth and Rory McIlroy heading for the last hole.

:38:11.:38:18.

We are staying with them until the end of play today. If you are

:38:19.:38:25.

wondering what has been going on, well, this man has dominated. He has

:38:26.:38:32.

been scrambling brilliantly, but he has recovered his composure and

:38:33.:38:39.

rescued his score with the putter time and time again, on so many

:38:40.:38:44.

occasions. It has been mightily impressive. He is heading for a

:38:45.:38:49.

seventh outright lead in a row here at The Masters, which would break

:38:50.:38:58.

yet another record. Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy on the tee.

:38:59.:39:19.

So, can he find a birdie on this final hole?

:39:20.:39:33.

Now, Spieth has hit a lot of tee shots to the right. I don't think he

:39:34.:39:44.

can reach it... There has only been two birdies at this final hole

:39:45.:39:50.

today. Just shows you how difficult it is.

:39:51.:40:06.

Oh, that is right, surely. Boy, he has driven badly today. That could

:40:07.:40:21.

be... That is a long way right. That is nearly at the 10th fairway, for

:40:22.:40:24.

goodness sake! HAZEL IRVINE: Jordan Spieth, way off

:40:25.:40:29.

from the team once again, but it does not seem to matter. He seems to

:40:30.:40:33.

get himself out of trouble every time. Just a reminder, Rory McIlory

:40:34.:40:37.

started one shot behind Jordan Spieth. So much anticipation. But

:40:38.:40:43.

when Spieth birdied the second, Rory was immediately under pressure. Here

:40:44.:40:52.

at the third, he would drop a shot. Now, at the 7th, putting problems.

:40:53.:41:04.

And he was falling away a bit now, with Jordan moving into an outright

:41:05.:41:12.

lead. Now, Rory has had problems at the 10th to before, most memorably

:41:13.:41:18.

in 2011, and he made life really difficult for himself here once

:41:19.:41:21.

again, and he would drop another shot. At the treacherous 11th, again

:41:22.:41:27.

he put himself right up against it from the off. He found the water and

:41:28.:41:35.

would make double bogey, five over for the round at this point. Another

:41:36.:41:41.

disappointing day at Augusta for the Grand Slam-seeking Rory.

:41:42.:41:52.

ANDREW COTTER: To say the least. Jordan Spieth has not hit a good

:41:53.:41:58.

drive here at the last. Only four players under par. I think Danny

:41:59.:42:02.

Willett will be playing with Lee Westwood tomorrow. The two leading

:42:03.:42:11.

in Richmond Loral will be together. -- the two leading Englishmen will

:42:12.:42:22.

be together. PETER ALLISS: That really was a

:42:23.:42:26.

stinker of a tee-shot. Well, he has hit so many. But time and time

:42:27.:42:31.

again, you can get away with it at Augusta. The great thing is, you can

:42:32.:42:36.

find your ball, if it has not gone in the water! There is plenty of

:42:37.:42:39.

spectators, and of course, there is no rough. It is just Pine Needles.

:42:40.:42:48.

You can scuttle it out somewhere. This course was rather designed for

:42:49.:42:52.

the likes of Seve, of course, who was occasionally wayward. He could

:42:53.:43:00.

get away with some wild stuff. This was for a closing par. He will

:43:01.:43:18.

finish on five over, Scott Piercy. And that is what he thinks of his

:43:19.:43:24.

round. Now, what faces our young maestro here? Move back, please!

:43:25.:43:36.

Shades of Cabrera. Is he going a go out the other fairway? Looks as if

:43:37.:43:47.

he may be thinking of that. I am just trying to get enough to

:43:48.:43:53.

get outside the tree. I don't think a punch out would be an option.

:43:54.:44:03.

Michael, the caddie, is looking at the 10th.

:44:04.:44:20.

I don't like that. I don't like that at all. We are running just a little

:44:21.:44:33.

bit late here. Our will follow this. This is the last pair out on the

:44:34.:44:43.

course. If he is trying to go between those big trees straight

:44:44.:44:47.

ahead, that is very risky. If he goes up right of this first tree, he

:44:48.:44:53.

has got a very difficult one across the green. He might pull off some

:44:54.:44:58.

miracle shot. I like this better than anything

:44:59.:45:10.

else. Here we go. Let's see where he is aiming. Oh, this is bold. Owing

:45:11.:45:19.

to try to squirt it between these trees. He has done it. He has got it

:45:20.:45:29.

out. Not bad, Andrew. Just rolling it out through the pine straw. I

:45:30.:45:34.

think his caddie did not like this shot, but he knew. He is the man who

:45:35.:45:37.

plays the shots, and very well executed.

:45:38.:45:56.

Wonderful drive from McIlroy. Get up to the back level. Get up to the

:45:57.:46:10.

back level, it does. Finally at the last hole a bit of McIlroy magic.

:46:11.:46:14.

More what we're used to. A rather rueful smile.

:46:15.:46:22.

We don't get much of able you are this bald bumbling along. It's only

:46:23.:46:30.

about a foot off the ground. It touches down about now but it's got

:46:31.:46:33.

enough momentum to scuttle it through. We get a look at the other

:46:34.:46:40.

end, there you go. It was a bit higher than I thought. It just

:46:41.:46:44.

scuttles through a bit and ends up not too bad. That's like a routine

:46:45.:46:56.

four. -- it looks like a routine four.

:46:57.:47:01.

APPLAUSE Well, he's going to get two walks

:47:02.:47:14.

onto the green. Two standing ovations. Just check where we are.

:47:15.:47:47.

Well, it's interesting, McIlroy with the birdie putt to come which would

:47:48.:47:53.

get him back to 1-over. After that dropped shot at the last for Spieth,

:47:54.:47:58.

if he were to drop one here he would be back down to four under, five

:47:59.:48:03.

clear of McIlroy. But of course it's not just McIlroy, Kaufmann,

:48:04.:48:10.

Matsuyama, Danny Willett, Lee Westwood. They would all be within

:48:11.:48:15.

slightly better striking distance if Jordan Spieth were to come unstuck.

:48:16.:48:20.

This calls for great judgment and a bit of luck. A long, gradual shelf

:48:21.:48:27.

up to the flag. Anything pitching by the flag is hid very firm and can go

:48:28.:48:33.

through the back. Then you're left with an awkward one, a very quick,

:48:34.:48:45.

racy little chip act down the green. -- back down the green. Fairly low,

:48:46.:48:55.

punchy one. Nowhere near. That's a poor shot. Probably the worst shot

:48:56.:48:59.

he's played all day. It was neither one thing nor the other. Lucky that

:49:00.:49:04.

it's stuck. That was looking rather like it

:49:05.:49:15.

might be a level par round for Jordan Spieth, and all of a sudden,

:49:16.:49:19.

two putts from there. That is a better score than his golf

:49:20.:49:32.

really told us, really. Because he played an awful lot of scruffy

:49:33.:49:38.

shots, but he has gone through, his nerves have held and he has parted

:49:39.:49:45.

well, his strategy has worked. Very impressive. -- putted well.

:49:46.:49:55.

Pay flag fluttering rather maudlin plea and again we stressed tomorrow

:49:56.:50:02.

is going to be calm and very cold in the morning, a touch of Frost. There

:50:03.:50:08.

will be Frost coming down in a minute, these boys are now four and

:50:09.:50:13.

a half hours since they struck off. Which, really, for a two ball, well,

:50:14.:50:25.

even though the wind was tricky, we keep on saying it but there we are.

:50:26.:50:27.

Absolutely ludicrous. Doors open here at seven o'clock in

:50:28.:50:42.

the morning and all the folks come in and scamper for position and the

:50:43.:50:47.

places locked up half an hour after the final putt is holed, so you

:50:48.:50:53.

don't have much time to linger. He has plenty of time to linger, this

:50:54.:50:55.

fellow, though. Anxious faces. They don't look much

:50:56.:51:22.

younger than Spieth! Now, will he reached the hole, I wonder? It comes

:51:23.:51:31.

a bit from the right. Give it a whack...

:51:32.:51:42.

Well, he miss read it. He has played some strange stuff today, hasn't he?

:51:43.:51:52.

CHUCKLES It's really... McIlroy holed 's and

:51:53.:52:04.

he misses. I don't know... This great match has been a bit of a damp

:52:05.:52:07.

squib. McIlroy has suddenly got a bit of a

:52:08.:52:25.

glint in his eye. One hopes so, but this is not an easy putt. There are

:52:26.:52:29.

so many on this green, you think, they must come from the right, but

:52:30.:52:33.

if you watch them over the years they do the opposite. If memory

:52:34.:52:38.

serves me, there's not a lot of movement in this one. So, here we

:52:39.:52:42.

are, for his first birdie of the day.

:52:43.:52:47.

GROANS FROM CROWD No. No, no, no, no. So, birdie free.

:52:48.:53:01.

You have to say, that wasn't even close. And there is still a tough

:53:02.:53:08.

one to go. We talked about it, the first time since 2010, the second

:53:09.:53:13.

time of the Open at St Andrews, the first time he has gone without a

:53:14.:53:21.

birdie at a major in a round. He has two faced the press. Rishi, if he is

:53:22.:53:29.

allowed to get in there. Rishi will ask him some stunning questions.

:53:30.:53:33.

"What Went wrong with you today then?" What time does it get dark?

:53:34.:53:40.

We've got half an hour, so we all right...

:53:41.:53:47.

Now, can he do it again? Can he hole yet another one?

:53:48.:54:00.

No! What a miserable six. What a way to go to supper. Well, nobody saw

:54:01.:54:12.

that coming. Jordan Spieth started this round with a 1-shot lead and he

:54:13.:54:17.

will finish it with a 1-shot lead. Started just in front of Rory

:54:18.:54:21.

McIlroy and he finishes just in front of Smylie Kaufman. But he will

:54:22.:54:37.

lead. Just waiting for McIlroy to hopefully pop this in. There you go,

:54:38.:54:42.

well done. A tired effort. Glad it's over. He needs to look at the

:54:43.:54:48.

positives, you would say, Rory McIlroy. Even with that fairly

:54:49.:54:52.

wretched around committee is only five behind. A lot of players are

:54:53.:54:58.

fairly close to Jordan Spieth. Spieth, the defending champion,

:54:59.:55:02.

Leeds going into the final round. What a third-round we've seen. Yes,

:55:03.:55:06.

totally unexpected. We talked about the wind is holding up and it did,

:55:07.:55:12.

it wasn't easy, but it hasn't been a good day for high-class action on

:55:13.:55:17.

the golf course, playing wise. Speed of the greens, positions of the

:55:18.:55:21.

flags, that really caught them out more than anything. Bernhard Langer

:55:22.:55:27.

just a couple behind. Jason Day just three behind now. Danny Willett,

:55:28.:55:32.

three behind. Lee Westwood, four behind. A lot of players are back in

:55:33.:55:35.

this for tomorrow. STUDIO

:55:36.:55:46.

Yes, it has been a Jim old US third day here at the Masters -- eight

:55:47.:55:54.

tumultuous day. Bad news for Rory but as Andrew

:55:55.:56:03.

said, the good news is that he is still not that far away, with Jordan

:56:04.:56:09.

Spieth having doubled the last. There it is, Spieth 3-under par.

:56:10.:56:17.

Smylie Kaufman, with whom he has played junior golf before, but he

:56:18.:56:21.

will be in the final pairing at the Masters, in his first Masters

:56:22.:56:25.

indeed. Bernhard Langer is double the age of them all, in fact nearly

:56:26.:56:30.

trebled their age, 58 years of age. He is up there too, one of only four

:56:31.:56:35.

men under par. We saw the name of Jason Day going by earlier on and he

:56:36.:56:42.

too is so close, just three shots off at level par. Chris Woodhead his

:56:43.:56:47.

troubles today, as have so many others. Matthew Fitzpatrick the

:56:48.:56:51.

youngest professional in the field at 21 years of age and he has

:56:52.:56:56.

acquitted himself very well on the European Tour. Looking further down,

:56:57.:57:00.

Adam Scott just made the cut and he has had a 75 today, 7-over par.

:57:01.:57:06.

Patrick Reed came here with big ambitions too. Just further down,

:57:07.:57:10.

the name of Bubba Watson, 4-over par today in a 76, 10-over for the

:57:11.:57:17.

double Masters champion. Justin Thomas, we saw him struggling with

:57:18.:57:20.

the breeze at the 7th and the ball rolling past. Ian Poulter, and 82,

:57:21.:57:26.

his worst ever score I'm afraid around Augusta. A day of mixed

:57:27.:57:30.

fortunes out there and they lot of people have gone backwards. Jordan

:57:31.:57:34.

Spieth, however, for the seventh time in a row he has the outright

:57:35.:57:39.

lead here at the Masters and he is bidding to join Jack Nicklaus and

:57:40.:57:42.

Sir Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods as the only back-to-back winners at

:57:43.:57:47.

Augusta. We will be back early tomorrow and don't forget that the

:57:48.:57:52.

live streams come online about 3:15pm. Around Amen Corner, 4:45pm.

:57:53.:57:58.

Then it is live all the way, 6:30pm in your Sunday evening on BBC Two,

:57:59.:58:02.

with live coverage of the all-important final round of the

:58:03.:58:07.

80th playing of the Masters. As we have seen, Rory McIlroy, he has had

:58:08.:58:12.

a tough day today, on the greens and elsewhere. But, well, it's Jordan

:58:13.:58:17.

Spieth. He seems to have some kind of hold over Augusta. Can he keep

:58:18.:58:22.

the magic going for one more day? Join us to find out.
