goal! What a strike, great memories. That was my first game

back after an love injury. couldn't find one of you, Perry. Not

even from a still? Not even. It is one of the most painful decisions to

make, when you have to retire from injury. About 50 players are forced

into this decision every season. Dave Hibbert suffered an horrific

knee injury and he announced his retirement this week. He has been

talking to us about his emotional turmoil about realising his game was

over. It is the best job in the world and

until you come out of it and take a backseat, you don't understand how

privileged you are to be a footballer. I had a great season and

shrews agree, top scorer, play of the year, everything was going

great. There was a few clubs interested, I ended up in

Peterborough, which was brilliant. since coming on as substitute!

Take us back to that FA Cup match when life changed for good.

remember it like it was yesterday. It was a freezing cold night, the

picture was quite hard. My body went one way, my legs stayed planted in

the ground. I'd tore my Achilles, I was told I would be back in three

months. I thought it wasn't ideal but get on with it and get back for

a good running. I was listening on the radio, which was worse. I

remember my other football friends, they brought him home on crutches.

Our daughter was only a few months old. It was very hard. On average,

50 players are forced to quit the game through injury every season.

Peterborough striker Dave Hibbert is football 's latest medical

casualty. It was a real struggle, I am not going to live. It was really

tough, mentally more than anything, because it was a lot of work on my

own. It is motivating yourself every day, training alone, getting through

this programme, and getting yourself in the best possible shape you could

be in. And that is how you keep going. You hope you are going to

have the opportunity again. How did you vent your frustrations? Probably

my partner took a lot of that. And the ones closest to you, they suffer

the most because you are not yourself. You not how you want to

be. You are angry, you are frustrated. You can't do what you

want to do. Yes, I guess they take the brunt of it. There was quite a

few moods, things like that, but, yes, so, hard for her as well. We've

spent a lot of time apart, I moved back here to be with my family and

Dave was in Peterborough, not as difficult for Ella as well. When was

the lowest moment? The lowest moment? I would probably say after

my first operation. I sat on a machine for eight hours a day, just

watching my knee go like that the six weeks. And that was mindnumbing,

honestly. I nearly lost the plot. For nearly two years, they've

refused to accept defeat. He worked tirelessly with the

physiotherapists, he travelled to London and America twice the

specialist treatment. But the reality finally took hold. I

remember his face, and his eyes in the office. We had had the

instruction -- discussion what if. I said I was struggling. This day when

he came to me, I knew he decided. He just said, I have had enough. I

spoke with my close family, my dad, my mum. Without them, I would never

have got to where I have got to. I made the decision. I made it at home

after consulting them. I took time on my own, switched my phone off.

And I thought that is it. It's the decision which no footballer wants

to make. Absolutely not. It winds me up when you see the likes of Arshad

in saying he is becoming disillusioned with football. When

you want to play and you can't... Things like that make me angry.

this game getting more demanding now, more physically demanding?

Definitely. There are athletes. It is a lot of demand on the players

now. Their game is a lot quicker. The lads are a lot more powerful.

And when they are running at top speed, when they are twisting and

turning, going into tackles, they are strong athletes now. That is why

you are seeing a few more injuries. You are not the first, you will not

be the last to go through this level of anguish. What is the message to

those who are living the dream now unaware of what might happen?

not going to lie. It's been horrendous. It's been tough to do

that, have that done at 26 when you've done everything you've wanted

to achieve at football, you accepted. But I still had goals and

I wanted to do things. But you've got to get on with it. There is no

point moping about feeling sorry for yourself. That's reality. That's

what you've got and you've got to get on with it. There is a lot of

people worse off than me. The thing I want to get across to people is in

football you take it for granted when you are there. It is the best

thing in the world. The lads in their now have got to enjoy every

single moment because it doesn't last forever.

Dave Hibbert speaks honestly and eloquently about his troubles with

injury. You've both suffered with injury throughout your careers and

both had to retire early. How difficult is it to accept? Hugely.

It makes me feel quite emotional. It is a carbon copy of what I went

through. I finished at 28. I spent eight hours a day on that machine

and psychologically it is tough, really tough, because you think you

are going to get back from it. He's got a great family unit around him

which makes such a difference. There is help out there for him. The PFA

are there for him. You are a member of it. You are a member for life.

Come to me if they are not helping him. We have got a retreat set up to

help all sports set up to help people deal with injury and help

cope with that and the fact you might not get that at all. And also

to help the family deal with it. Just injury? The mental side as

well. The transition of getting out of football, it is a huge problem.

It is like coming out of the Army. It is a difficult transition to

make. Once it is taking away from you, it is difficult. Perry, you've

been there. What is it like when you are told that as it? You think you

are indestructible. I got injured 28, packed it in at 30. What you've

got to do it mentally, you are in a privileged position, but he's got to

think about the eight years he has had. I thought I was very lucky to

be a professional for 14 years and not worry what I would have done.

You achieved a lot of things. Dave says he hasn't achieved what he

would like to have achieved. He's got a lot of things in his head. You

feel better. I didn't go and see game's four-year is. I didn't want

to do it. I didn't want to see my mates play football. You all going

through all sorts. He's got a good family base behind him, which is

important. Financially, if you are not insured, what is next? There is

one thing the PFA should implement, especially for players in League Two

and leak one. Get them to contribute to an insurance fund where you pay

�1000 a year where you can get yourself �60,000 worth of insurance

so when you pack it in, you have a safety net because a lot of players

have got low income coming in so it allows them to maybe two different

courses, have a different trial on their life, whereas you don't think

of anything past your football career, and, you know... Dave is

intelligent, he speaks very well, but losing football is a huge blow.

We sent him the best wishes. He would have been cheered by his mates

performance yesterday. The great escape continues at Peterborough.

Fantastic result. Dwight Gayle was on fire. He sets once in a way. He

puts Peterboro 1-0 up. Nine unbeaten, fantastic. They lost 16

out of the first 21 in the championship. Their second 21,

they've only lost for Mac. Everyone thought they were relegation

candidates. But what has changed? We talked about the goalscoring. You

get a goalscorer scoring on a regular basis, can do anything to

the team. Dwight Gayle. He is hungry, he's got praise. Cassetti

brings him down. He waits for him to bring him down. Lee Tomlin, he's got

a fantastic free kick. They have taken 17 points from their nine

games. They've put it back in their own hands. It is testament to Darren

Ferguson. They did the best to let Watford back into it and Darren

Ferguson was upset by it. Looking at these goals, they were deflections,

so they haven't given them away cheaply. They've got a good record

against the top sides against the division. They play Brighton next.

these players but look who I have just bumped into, I think you

were all inducted. He was a great player and he deserves to be in it.

Alan Brazil, he got a bit emotional last night and that was the first

time I have ever seen that. He was a fantastic footballer, a great

finisher. Micky Stockwell, I cannot believe the number of games he has

played. He was always consistent. He was a good ride back and he

deserved it. The three of them deserve to be in the Hall of fame.

I am so happy this morning. It is easy to say that you are humbled

and all of that but to be voted in by such great people and players,

and be a part of that is just fantastic. I am so proud this

morning. We had a fantastic night, but back to today, we have Hull

City who are a team that are very good. They have been in the top

three or four all season and we are expecting a tough game here today.

injury lay-off. What a massive goal that might be. Mick McCarthy's team

They were excellent in the first half but I thought we were better

than them in the second. I have no idea what it is going to take to

stay up. All in all an excellent weekend. We have the Hall of fame

celebrations at but we did not get what the result but we wanted but

onwards and upwards for the football club.

He is far too good at that job! You are too good at it. Not the best

result for Ipswich at the weekend against Hull but they should be

saved in the championship. I think they need one more win. Mick will

be disappointed with the defending. Wadworth and Cresswell did the

have been fighting the threat of relegation all season but for

Norwich City it has crept up on the more recently. Later in the

programme we will discuss their slide towards danger and who is

views of Darren and Perry on that coming up but first we will see the

action from League One and we will stop with the MK Dons who looked

like they would get into the play- offs. There was a great win against

performances for a while. He said they should have been confident.

Leyton Orient were in decent form. Colchester haven't been there

recently. He thought the players were a little bit flat. Williams

Robinson so they deserve to get beat and they were very poor. It

was one of those games. They tend to come along at this time of the

season and play get a bit nervy. You don't want to get in the play-

offs. It is disappointing to see themselves at the 10th in the table

at the moment. They are still good enough but they need him out about

goalscorer. That is his 16th goal of the season. He is the sort of

player that they need. To get yourself in the top six you need a

20 goals season. Let us see where the MK Dons are. If they had beaten

Leyton Orient they would be a point outside Swindon. They are four

points off with three games to go, is there any chance they can sneak

into the top six? Their next game against Colchester is huge. If they

win their game in hand they go on 67 points and Walsall and Leyton

Orient were also fancy getting there so that will be a massive

game. They have injuries as well. Yes they miss him. There will be a

lot of clubs sniffing around that player. Let us look at the bottom

of League One. A disappointing result here. Jeff Hughes just

slides in at the far post. The defending was a particularly good.

It was a really good team gold from Andy Bond. There was laid -- there

was good link-up play. He crosses it and he kept them back in it are

told them to force it home but they will be very disappointed with the

defending. There was a strong header. They should have marked a

defenders to close him down a bit better but Stevenage are work-in-

progress for Graham Westley. They go 2-0 down and James Hayter makes

it 2-0. If you look at both teams, Yeovil are where Stevenage want to

be. They are very consistent and they haven't been beaten in four

games and that is what Graham Westley will try to do. They are

guarantee to be in League One next season. Let us look at the table,

they cannot be caught. It is very much a rebuilding job, isn't it?

establish themselves in there for a couple of seasons it is not like

they are doing poorly, they are establishing themselves and they

have done fabulously. Colchester is a massive game. They have got two

home games and they have Shrewsbury coming up with one point in front

of them so if they can get one win out of those two then they will be

doing well. Northampton's slum continues. A fortnight ago they

look like a sure bet for automatic promotion and narrative that of

their hands. After three defeats and the latest to York it is a real

problem. It cost me about �750 because they were the team that

never let me down! They should have been a banker. I went there and let

them physically. Ashley Chambers scored between Nicholls's lakes

there and it was like a war of attrition. They had a few chances

but they were not at their attrition best. They did create a

few chances but they have such a run a home. They had been brilliant.

They have had their chances in that game but they did not take them.

The other teams score the goals are vital moments a matches will be

key for them. It is a shame because it was in their own times to get

automatic promotion and now they are fighting. Let us look at the

table and see where it is for Northampton. There they are, five

points of automatic promotion and they have a game in hand on a

Burton. A big fixtures coming up. Do we think they can do it? I think

they are all right for the play- offs because they play we come away

and Port Vale away and bonnet at home. Hopefully they will have

their flip-flops on a. If they are in the play-offs, how will it

affect them? If you scrape into the play-offs later on it is always the

team that comes from lower down that comes true. If you're

expecting automatic promotion it can be a Downer. There is always a

threat up front and that is important. That is what you needed

in any team. Southend have thought of as well and lost a Cup final at

Wembley. It has been a difficult spell for them. I do they may have

one for eight games. Phil Brown is going to try and implement the

of the Christmas holidays Norwich had gone 10 games unbeaten, winning

six of them and drawing for. Since then they have managed just one win

in 16, earning 10 points from a possible 48. All the sudden things

possible 48. All the sudden things are looking a little bit concerning

for Norwich City. I can see a similar pattern of what happened in

95 and I was part of that squad. It was just about Christmas where we

were doing really well and there we end up getting relegated. It is

important to make the players or whereof that. Is important to stay

in the financial -- Premier League financially. For that to happen,

you get so close, 35 points, it is like playing percentages now. Chris

Hughton needs to go into every game with a point but unfortunately they

are not going and hanging on to those points. Let us look at when

Norwich are. They have slipped down dramatically and they are now only

four points off at Wigan but Wigan have two games in hand. The other

thing to look at is the goal difference. Goals have been a bit

of an issue for them. The it is a huge problem. They are the second

lowest goalscorers in the Premier League and that is a answer in

itself. They were scoring plenty of goals free-flowing last year but it

is all change this year. Those are the top stories. -- scorers. Last

season grant Holt had 15 League goals. You look at that and that is

a massive relegation form team. You cannot expect them to be where they

are. Why isn't run whole doing so well this is an? He has been out of

the team a bit which hasn't help but why has not gone so well?
