Coming up tonight, the Bees are going up - what next for | :00:15. | :00:22.
Championship-bound Brentford? A big step was taken last week, now we | :00:23. | :00:26.
have to cement our place and keep building, keep developing. | :00:27. | :00:30.
And who's staying up? It's in their hands, but can Charlton hold their | :00:31. | :00:35.
nerve? Two Lions head to their former | :00:36. | :00:37.
hunting ground on the prowl for Millwall points. And a day of | :00:38. | :00:42.
destiny at Adams Park, as Wycombe's Football League future hangs in the | :00:43. | :00:45.
balance. Hello, everybody, welcome to Late | :00:46. | :00:49.
Kick Off. In case you haven't quite worked it out for yourself, I'm Mark | :00:50. | :00:52.
Clemmit and not Jacqui Oatley, who is on maternity leave for the final | :00:53. | :00:56.
couple of weeks of the season. Our congratulations to her and the | :00:57. | :00:59.
family on the birth of baby boy Max. And talking of new arrivals, | :01:00. | :01:02.
Brentford are now a Championship team, so joining Brighty and myself, | :01:03. | :01:04.
midfielder Sam Saunders, who just over a week ago, with his | :01:05. | :01:07.
team-mates, was finally able to celebrate promotion on what was a | :01:08. | :01:10.
very good Good Friday at Griffin Park. | :01:11. | :01:18.
There was Jamie and Sam, and we knew a goal went in. It just erupted, and | :01:19. | :01:29.
I think that's the moment that will live with me for a long time. We are | :01:30. | :01:33.
going up, say we are going up! The level of excitement was fantastic, | :01:34. | :01:36.
the players could feel it, and that for me was a real hair on the back | :01:37. | :01:42.
of the neck moment. Yeah, I don't remember that much, it was all about | :01:43. | :01:50.
everyone going crazy, to be fair. There's some real genuine supporters | :01:51. | :01:54.
at this club, and to see them get that reward is fantastic. We've come | :01:55. | :02:01.
so close, we've had play-offs, we've had final days scenarios where we | :02:02. | :02:07.
could possibly go up. Oh, it was amazing. I mean, that was probably | :02:08. | :02:12.
the best feeling I ever had. Everyone knows what happened, what | :02:13. | :02:14.
possibly should have happened, and we can look back and actually smile | :02:15. | :02:17.
about it now, because we've achieved what we were looking to do to. You | :02:18. | :02:22.
know, I came back and tried to do my best, and at the end that definitely | :02:23. | :02:25.
makes it more special. The owners spoke to me 18 months ago and set a | :02:26. | :02:29.
five-year plan. He spoke about the Championship, he spoke about the new | :02:30. | :02:32.
stadium. And he also spoke about the Premier League. We've got a good | :02:33. | :02:35.
squad here, we'll add some quality to it as and when we need to, we'll | :02:36. | :02:39.
be in good shape next year. Well, Sam, it must have been a bit | :02:40. | :02:42.
bittersweet for you, because you were in the firm of your career, you | :02:43. | :02:46.
know, player of the month in January, and then obviously you get | :02:47. | :02:49.
injured and miss getting over the line. How was your promotion day? It | :02:50. | :02:53.
was brilliant. I was supposed to be in the squad but then had to pull | :02:54. | :02:56.
out through a little strain. So at the start of it I was devastated, | :02:57. | :02:59.
obviously, having the operation, thinking I wanted to be involved. | :03:00. | :03:03.
But then at the end of it I was on the bins, running around, forgot all | :03:04. | :03:07.
about it, so it was a fantastic day and something I'll never forget. The | :03:08. | :03:09.
boys working so hard, particularly after what happened last year, | :03:10. | :03:12.
everyone is just delighted. Well, I wanted to ask you about that. Did | :03:13. | :03:16.
the high of getting over the line this time in any way compensate for | :03:17. | :03:19.
the low of what happened to you without penalty miss and then | :03:20. | :03:22.
missing out at Wembley last year? I was looking round the changing room | :03:23. | :03:25.
come February, I was looking round, and everyone hurt so much from last | :03:26. | :03:32.
season. I just thought, we're not going to let this one go, and | :03:33. | :03:35.
particularly that result at Orient, turning them over 1-0 with ten men. | :03:36. | :03:38.
After that, I thought, yeah, we're going to go up. Yeah, I mean, we | :03:39. | :03:42.
heard Mark Warburton talk about the Premier League there, the owner's | :03:43. | :03:45.
ambitions for the Premier League. Is that realistic? I think you've got | :03:46. | :03:51.
to have a vision, haven't you? I think Fulham had a vision some years | :03:52. | :03:54.
ago, and everyone laughed at Mohamed Al Fayed, he wanted to be the Man | :03:55. | :03:58.
United of the South. But you have to have a vision, and obviously part of | :03:59. | :04:02.
that vision is getting into the Championship. The new stadium is | :04:03. | :04:05.
about to come, and then you have to say, can you build on what you have? | :04:06. | :04:09.
And you have to say that, I think in football, the neutrals, everybody's | :04:10. | :04:12.
happy for Brentford, because of what happened at the end of last season. | :04:13. | :04:15.
Yeah, I mean, from your own point of view, Sam, eight, nine years ago, | :04:16. | :04:19.
you're working as a sparky on London Underground. Now look, you know, | :04:20. | :04:22.
you're at a club... I'm sitting here with Brighty, aren't I?! Totally | :04:23. | :04:26.
different, this is what I wanted. Are you pinching yourself a little | :04:27. | :04:29.
bit? You could be playing Fulham next year if QPR don't make it. It's | :04:30. | :04:34.
unbelievable. When John come in for me and I was in non-league, and if | :04:35. | :04:38.
you'd have asked me if I would play championship football, I would have | :04:39. | :04:41.
absolutely bit your arm off. So as a personal note, I'm delighted to get | :04:42. | :04:44.
that opportunity next season. But it's a collective thing, and the | :04:45. | :04:47.
boys have been so good. Obviously, I haven't kicked a ball since January, | :04:48. | :04:50.
so I wouldn't be getting this opportunity of it wasn't for them. | :04:51. | :04:53.
So they've got to take massive credit. Do you know what I always | :04:54. | :04:56.
want to ask players that have just been promoted? Do you in any way | :04:57. | :05:00.
fear promotion insomuch as you know some of the squad will not make the | :05:01. | :05:03.
next level? Is that an unfair question? It is a tough one, because | :05:04. | :05:07.
at a club like Brentford, and how they've been the last few years, | :05:08. | :05:10.
it's one of them that if you don't progress with the club and move | :05:11. | :05:13.
forwards, you're going to get left behind. And it's a winning mentality | :05:14. | :05:16.
they have at the club, and you've just got to know, as an older pro, | :05:17. | :05:20.
you got to do your bits, do your extras if you want to keep | :05:21. | :05:23.
continuing with this club, because it's a club that's moving forward. | :05:24. | :05:26.
And the young lads are pushing, the older pros are helping, and it's | :05:27. | :05:30.
just a great mix we've got at the minute. I'm enjoying that pressure | :05:31. | :05:33.
of having to perform every week, and every year come back that little bit | :05:34. | :05:36.
stronger, because you know that you've got to impress and do well to | :05:37. | :05:38.
get your shirt. Enjoy every second, it's been a | :05:39. | :05:41.
fantastic season, but I'm afraid, after all that celebrating, the rest | :05:42. | :05:45.
of the programme is a slow descent into despair as we concentrate on | :05:46. | :05:48.
three teams battling the drop. First up, Millwall - on Saturday, the | :05:49. | :05:51.
Lions were on South Africa Road, the natural habitat for two of them. | :05:52. | :05:59.
Here at QPR, those who once proudly pulled on the blue and white hoops | :06:00. | :06:04.
are now pulling Millwall back from the brink. | :06:05. | :06:12.
You good? Yeah, I'm all right, and you? I am! Welcome home-ish! Yeah, | :06:13. | :06:18.
sort of! It is weird for you, isn't it, you and Ollie today? 15 years | :06:19. | :06:22.
the pair of you put in here. Yeah, I know, I know, it's not been as | :06:23. | :06:25.
difficult, because as I said, first time I've ever wanted QPR to lose | :06:26. | :06:30.
today. Yeah, it should be good. I'm glad they've got really nothing to | :06:31. | :06:33.
play for, cos that made it a little bit difficult. It's nice to be back | :06:34. | :06:39.
and come to a place full of memories for me, ten years, five as a player, | :06:40. | :06:43.
five as a manager. And it's great to see them growing. Where would | :06:44. | :06:45.
keeping Millwall in this division fit into the hierarchy of what | :06:46. | :06:50.
you've achieved in the game? As good as any of that, I believe. I think | :06:51. | :06:54.
it was really tough, really difficult situation, and a squad | :06:55. | :06:59.
that really didn't have any fight. And for Millwall, that's just not | :07:00. | :07:01.
acceptable, but now I can honestly say that these lots don't give up. | :07:02. | :07:08.
They've got rubbish coaches here like Ollie! And rubbish players like | :07:09. | :07:16.
Armand. Yeah, so hopefully we've got our game plan, we've been doing well | :07:17. | :07:20.
away from home, as you know, and we're trying to carry on. | :07:21. | :07:25.
If Millwall win and Blackpool lose, their incredible escape act will be | :07:26. | :07:28.
complete. Anything less, and they'll be sweating it out a little longer. | :07:29. | :07:38.
Right-hand side of the penalty area, Dixon across... Oh, Ravel Morrison | :07:39. | :07:43.
with the header and David Forde with the save. | :07:44. | :07:48.
Smith's scored! And a score coming in which is going to send shivers | :07:49. | :07:55.
down spines. Wigan zero, Blackpool one. | :07:56. | :08:03.
It's a penalty! Simeon Jackson for use of the hand, and the referee | :08:04. | :08:10.
points straight at the spot. Here comes Austin and drives it into the | :08:11. | :08:19.
back of the net! It's picked up by Malone inside the area, shot from | :08:20. | :08:22.
Malone, it's there from Scott Malone! It's Queens Park Rangers 1, | :08:23. | :08:25.
Millwall 1, how important could that be?! | :08:26. | :08:34.
Gaffer not happy. Yes and no, happy that we got one in the last couple | :08:35. | :08:46.
of minutes, but not happy that we didn't win and not happy about the | :08:47. | :08:48.
penalty, really. Well, clearly, you've got a lot of happy memories | :08:49. | :08:52.
of this place but not necessarily this afternoon. I will have, Clem, | :08:53. | :08:55.
to be fair. I think to go behind in the fashion we did, it really hurts, | :08:56. | :08:59.
to be honest. I just think that's ridiculously harsh. You know, we | :09:00. | :09:01.
showed tremendous character to come back, so I feel everybody connected | :09:02. | :09:05.
with the club should be very proud of themselves today. | :09:06. | :09:07.
Well, Brighty, I think when he went into Millwall, we all thought, he's | :09:08. | :09:10.
taken Palace into the Premier League, why would you? But I tell | :09:11. | :09:13.
you what, he's proved his worth, the last six or seven games, hasn't he? | :09:14. | :09:25.
They got themselves out of the relegation zone. He will get the | :09:26. | :09:30.
team focused, and I would have to refer to Crystal Palace, when he got | :09:31. | :09:35.
promotion, three games, Brighton home and away, Watford in the | :09:36. | :09:39.
final, the team absolutely focused because of his intensity on the | :09:40. | :09:43.
training ground. This last week now, they couldn't have anyone better on | :09:44. | :09:47.
the training ground to get them motivated and looking forward to | :09:48. | :09:52.
that last game. It is very noticeable, I sat quite near to some | :09:53. | :09:57.
of the unused box, at the team spirit and the banter, with the | :09:58. | :10:02.
players on the pitching a really serious game. You can't take that | :10:03. | :10:06.
dynamic for granted, that comes from the. The team spirit is massive, | :10:07. | :10:12.
they are enabling the Asian scrap, so to have that bit of banter, it | :10:13. | :10:21.
could be a good thing for them. -- they are in a relegation scrap. He | :10:22. | :10:25.
is transmitting something that makes you stay on. Ian Holloway has always | :10:26. | :10:30.
had that relationship with his players, it seems to be rubbing | :10:31. | :10:37.
off. It has obviously worked. Say to the players, you have beaten | :10:38. | :10:42.
Nottingham Forest, Middlesbrough, Wigan, teams going for promotion. It | :10:43. | :10:47.
is everything or nothing now, and he has got them in a position where | :10:48. | :10:52.
they will get out of it. A really exceptional manager can get that | :10:53. | :10:56.
kind of team spirit. He is so different in the changing room and | :10:57. | :10:59.
on the training ground, doing the dancing elephant with the players. | :11:00. | :11:04.
When he's focused, the team will be focused, and the team will be | :11:05. | :11:11.
focused at the end of the week. Millwall do not have a monopoly on | :11:12. | :11:16.
south-east London relegation worries. Charlton have been in or | :11:17. | :11:21.
around the drop zone for most of the season. On Saturday they hosted | :11:22. | :11:23.
play-off seeking Blackburn, we sent Chris Slegg on a scenic route to the | :11:24. | :11:27.
Valley to take a view of proceedings. | :11:28. | :11:29.
Now, it would be easy to use a cable car ride looking out towards the | :11:30. | :11:32.
Valley as a metaphor for Charlton's current plight. Championship status | :11:33. | :11:35.
hanging by a Fred et cetera. But we wouldn't do that. This season, | :11:36. | :11:38.
though, has been an interesting journey. Well, it hasn't been great, | :11:39. | :11:41.
has it? Painful, in one word painful. Obviously the new manager | :11:42. | :11:44.
has come in and changed things around, and we've got the points on | :11:45. | :11:48.
the board to prove it. What will you say to your players before they go | :11:49. | :11:52.
out onto the pitch? I think that we have learned a lot during the | :11:53. | :11:55.
previous game. The last one is a good example of what we don't have | :11:56. | :11:59.
to do during the first 20 minutes and what we have to do is take from | :12:00. | :12:04.
this experience. The Championship is so tight - lose to Blackburn, and | :12:05. | :12:07.
Charlton could be in the bottom three can take time. Win and they | :12:08. | :12:13.
will be safe if results go their way elsewhere. | :12:14. | :12:17.
King with the ball into the area, and it is in from the head of Rudy | :12:18. | :12:21.
Gestede! Cousins to Sordell inside the | :12:22. | :12:30.
penalty area. Marvin Sordell with this spot kick. Sordell comes up and | :12:31. | :12:32.
the save is made by Paul Robinson! Key got the touch to take it past | :12:33. | :12:39.
Ben Hamer. A goal back for Charlton. Sordell | :12:40. | :12:58.
goes for the shot. There could be another opportunity for Blackburn. A | :12:59. | :13:03.
final clearance. Cairney comes in. Should jackson have taken that | :13:04. | :13:20.
penalty? It's normally him. That's what I say to the staff. At this | :13:21. | :13:25.
moment we can not stop a player when he ask to take his responsibilities, | :13:26. | :13:29.
it's part of the game. Have you said to the players after that Johnny | :13:30. | :13:32.
should have taken that penalty? You know, it's something Marvin knows | :13:33. | :13:37.
well what he missed. It's some lesson for the future. But we need | :13:38. | :13:41.
to be efficient in the present, that's the main thing. If that | :13:42. | :13:47.
penalty had gone in it would have been 1-1. Who knows Charlton might | :13:48. | :13:50.
have gone on to win and be safe. Why don't you obey a manager's orders | :13:51. | :13:55.
out there? On the pitch players don't think like that. He scored a | :13:56. | :14:03.
hat trick bank holiday Monday. He is on a high. Sometimes players don't | :14:04. | :14:06.
want to fight for the ball on the pitch. Let the goal-scorer take it, | :14:07. | :14:13.
he misses. We saw with Brentford what happened. He says I want to | :14:14. | :14:16.
take it, give it to me. Players don't always follow manager's | :14:17. | :14:20.
instructions. They didn't defend well enough Charlton on that day. It | :14:21. | :14:25.
didn't have the same sort of consequences but you did experience | :14:26. | :14:31.
this last season with that penalty, that Trotter penalty and the | :14:32. | :14:35.
consequences out of there. Take us through that. You are a - you could | :14:36. | :14:44.
have taken it that day. He wasn't happy with myself. He was on form. I | :14:45. | :14:52.
thought he would score. You were happy for him and Kevin was? He was | :14:53. | :15:00.
the man decided he thought he should take it, it was a bad move. | :15:01. | :15:04.
Hopefully for Charlton they don't get the same problems we have had by | :15:05. | :15:07.
not going up last season. Hopefully they get the result on Tuesday, | :15:08. | :15:11.
they'll be safe. It's one of them that happens. From now on it will | :15:12. | :15:15.
never happen at our club, we have about five list of players who are | :15:16. | :15:18.
down to take the penalty if he is not on, someone else is taking them. | :15:19. | :15:22.
There will never than mistake again. It's one of them things we have | :15:23. | :15:26.
learned from. It's gone now. Thank God that we got promoted and turned | :15:27. | :15:31.
it around. And probably benefitted from the experience. Let's look at | :15:32. | :15:34.
the bottom of the Championship table. | :15:35. | :15:40.
Both these two in our region were in real trouble a short space of time | :15:41. | :15:45.
ago. Both have surged up. Full credit to both. With Charlton we | :15:46. | :15:49.
knew they had the games in hand because of the Cup run they had been | :15:50. | :15:53.
on and some games rained off or whatever. We knew they could have | :15:54. | :15:56.
pulled themselves out of it. This is what they've done, got themselves to | :15:57. | :16:00.
this position here. You would have to say with one game to go, we | :16:01. | :16:05.
always say the same thing, destiny in your own hands, that's what they | :16:06. | :16:09.
have. Let's look at the fixtures coming up. Charlton have that extra | :16:10. | :16:13.
game tomorrow at home to Watford. How are you seeing it, Sam? I think | :16:14. | :16:20.
they'll be OK. I think Birmingham against Wigan, Wigan are pressing | :16:21. | :16:23.
for the play-offs, as well. Can't see them getting much there. Away to | :16:24. | :16:33.
Bolton is not easy. I think they're going to be OK. It's in their hands. | :16:34. | :16:39.
If they get the result on Saturday, regardless of what everyone else | :16:40. | :16:43.
does, but with the fixtures looking there, I am happy with what I see | :16:44. | :16:46.
for the London clubs. I think they'll be all right. Good. I am | :16:47. | :16:48.
glad about that. We did warn you that the mood would | :16:49. | :16:57.
be darkening throughout the show. It doesn't get much gloomier than at | :16:58. | :17:00.
Adams Park right now. Wycombe took on their relegation rivals Bristol | :17:01. | :17:03.
Rovers on Saturday, knowing defeat could send them into the bottom two | :17:04. | :17:05.
with just one game to play. What's emotional about today is I am | :17:06. | :17:15.
thinking this could be the last league game at Adams Park. We know | :17:16. | :17:29.
what we have to do. Yeah, we are... Definitely the biggest football | :17:30. | :17:32.
league game they've had. It's not just a football thing, it's about | :17:33. | :17:35.
the business side, as well. The people who want to buy the club, | :17:36. | :17:38.
they'd rather own a football league club if that's going to happen at | :17:39. | :17:42.
all. It's a huge game on and off the pitch for Wycombe and the fans are | :17:43. | :17:44.
very tense and nervous about this. It's a goal. It's a terrible start | :17:45. | :18:04.
for Wycombe. What a goal! What a fantastic goal! | :18:05. | :18:17.
There is the half-time whistle. 1-1. Mc Clure. It's across the face of | :18:18. | :18:19.
goal! It's a chance here for Rovers! | :18:20. | :18:34.
They've taken it. It's Clarkson who scores and how vital a goal is that | :18:35. | :18:38.
going to be. Wycombe go 2-1 down. As it stands, they are in a relegation | :18:39. | :18:45.
position. Wycombe have been beaten this afternoon. It may well be that | :18:46. | :18:53.
it's Rovers who are staying up. There's obviously some disgruntled | :18:54. | :18:57.
fans. That's football, that's what happens. They've every right to do | :18:58. | :19:01.
that. Hopefully I can still give them something next week to cheer | :19:02. | :19:04.
about. They're gutted. Really devastated. I have said look, we | :19:05. | :19:12.
have one more mammoth task. Beat Torquay next week and hopefully | :19:13. | :19:14.
somebody does us a favour. Desperate times then for Wycombe | :19:15. | :19:22.
whose 21-year stay in the Football League is now hanging precariously | :19:23. | :19:25.
in the balance. Their pain deepened when they heard how Northampton had | :19:26. | :19:28.
got on at Victoria Road. Dagenham Redbridge not doing Wycombe any | :19:29. | :19:31.
favours at all. Northampton started the day in the bottom two, but ran | :19:32. | :19:35.
out 3-0 winners in East London. As far as the Daggers were concerned, | :19:36. | :19:38.
their faint play-off hopes had already evaporated over Easter. They | :19:39. | :19:43.
failed to muster any real resistance as Northampton cruised to a | :19:44. | :19:46.
comfortable win to move themselves above Gareth Ainsworth's team. | :19:47. | :19:49.
Which means that Wycombe have to win on the final day and hope for a | :19:50. | :19:57.
favour from elsewhere. They need to pick up maximum points at | :19:58. | :19:59.
already-relegated Torquay and also hope either Bristol Rovers lose at | :20:00. | :20:02.
home to Mansfield or Northampton are beaten at home by Oxford. | :20:03. | :20:08.
That is a tall order. Yeah, absolutely. We looked at the run-in | :20:09. | :20:13.
for Wycombe and I feared it for a little bit for them. But the saving | :20:14. | :20:17.
grace for me was they had two teams below them, Bristol Rovers and | :20:18. | :20:20.
Torquay and the team above them Northampton to play. You think there | :20:21. | :20:24.
is your mini league, you have to beat those teams. Obviously losing | :20:25. | :20:28.
at Bristol was a huge blow for them. They've dropped to the bottom two. | :20:29. | :20:32.
And now I really don't see them getting out of it. Are they paying | :20:33. | :20:37.
the price for doing what we would like all our football clubs to do, | :20:38. | :20:40.
which is living within their means? They haven't spent any money, they | :20:41. | :20:45.
don't have because they don't have a rich benefactor. A few weeks ago we | :20:46. | :20:49.
covered the club could be taken over, debt-free and the underground, | :20:50. | :20:53.
the supporters trust owned the ground and what a great situation | :20:54. | :20:57.
for someone to invest and give the manager money to try and improve the | :20:58. | :21:02.
squad. Gareth has had a really tough job. We say this all the time. His | :21:03. | :21:05.
baunl is one of the smallest -- budget is one of the smallest | :21:06. | :21:09.
budgets in the league. Losing 11 games at home, more than anyone else | :21:10. | :21:12.
in the league, you know, it's been a huge blow for them and not scoring | :21:13. | :21:17.
enough goals easily. You know all about the conference and 14 former | :21:18. | :21:19.
football league teams in the conference this year alone. No | :21:20. | :21:23.
guarantees you come straight back out of there. It's a tough league. | :21:24. | :21:31.
You see with Luton. John's worked wonders to get them up this year. | :21:32. | :21:36.
Bigger clubs have gone down. They've been there five years. Alter shot | :21:37. | :21:45.
and Hereford went down. It's going to be tough if they go down. Looking | :21:46. | :21:50.
at the fixtures and points they're behind it's a tall order. | :21:51. | :21:56.
Listen, smile! Right, some good news now, in that two of our teams did | :21:57. | :22:00.
actually manage to win at the weekend. Here's Emma Jones and Jamie | :22:01. | :22:02.
Reid with the round-up, that includes those victories for | :22:03. | :22:05.
Brighton and Orient. Sam you might want to skip this bit and go and get | :22:06. | :22:08.
yourself a cuppa. There's also Brentford's heavy defeat at | :22:09. | :22:10.
Colchester tucked away in here. The play-offs are still a real | :22:11. | :22:22.
possibility for Brighton after this late win. A 77th minute cross | :22:23. | :22:27.
bounced in and the victory that would also see Yeovil relegated was | :22:28. | :22:33.
confirmed with this from Lingcard in the second minute of stoppage time. | :22:34. | :22:37.
Victory at For he is on Saturday and Brighton will be in the top six if | :22:38. | :22:43.
Reading fail to beat Burnley. Watford went in to their game at | :22:44. | :22:46.
Derby knowing they had to win to stand any chance of joining their | :22:47. | :22:50.
opponents in the play-offs. They got off to a good start. The Rams | :22:51. | :23:04.
levelled. Despite having a player sent off Father a second I do le | :23:05. | :23:10.
Watford made it 2-2 thanks to a header. Chris Martin completed the | :23:11. | :23:17.
scoring as Watford suffered their 8th away defeat of the season. | :23:18. | :23:26.
This would be Orient's last home game before the play-offs and it was | :23:27. | :23:34.
a comfortable victory. They had the lead before half-time. Then there | :23:35. | :23:39.
was the most of a poor clearance from the visiting keeper to shoot | :23:40. | :23:44.
into an empty net. A win and first clean sheet in nine games. We will | :23:45. | :23:47.
have to wait until next week to find out what their play-offs semifinal | :23:48. | :23:54.
opponents will be. John Gregory says his team will be | :23:55. | :23:57.
working on defending set pieces in the summer after losing to a late | :23:58. | :24:05.
goal at valley Parade. Bradford led through McClean before Crawley | :24:06. | :24:09.
equalised. Thompson headed home the winner with four minutes to go to | :24:10. | :24:14.
condemn Crawley to their 6th away defeat in the last seven. | :24:15. | :24:21.
Gillingham boss Peter Taylor had said he only deserved to stay on if | :24:22. | :24:25.
he kept the club up. Other results ensured he managed that on Saturday | :24:26. | :24:30.
despite defeat at Preston. The hosts took an early lead through John | :24:31. | :24:36.
Welsh but the Gills drew level. However, a Preston side preparing | :24:37. | :24:40.
for the play-offs weren't going to be denied a win. Paul Gallagher put | :24:41. | :24:46.
them ahead again before Kilkenny condemned Gills to a fourth defeat | :24:47. | :24:51.
in six. A promotion party hangover saw | :24:52. | :24:57.
Brentford thumped 4-1 with a performance manager described as | :24:58. | :24:59.
unacceptable. The The impressive Dallas pulled one | :25:00. | :25:14.
back in style for Brentford. Seers rounded off the scoring before the | :25:15. | :25:20.
visitors misery was compounded when Judge's penalty was saved. | :25:21. | :25:27.
Wimbledon signed off their home campaign on a low note. Morecambe | :25:28. | :25:32.
were 2-0 up with a couple of goals before half-time. Goal number three | :25:33. | :25:40.
came late on from the spot. The home fans hadn't been given much to shout | :25:41. | :25:44.
about this campaign. Something he is promising to put right next season. | :25:45. | :25:50.
Not a brilliant 48 hours for Wimbledon. Deducted three points for | :25:51. | :26:00.
fielding an ineligible player against Cheltenham in March. Is it | :26:01. | :26:04.
one rule for the big clubs and the small ones? Sunderland get away with | :26:05. | :26:09.
it? With the Sunderland case it was their own player who had been out on | :26:10. | :26:14.
loan abroad. And he had come back. Sunderland didn't reregister him. It | :26:15. | :26:19.
wasn't like he was someone who shouldn't have been playing for the | :26:20. | :26:22.
club. He was their own player. In Sunderland's sort of defence, you | :26:23. | :26:26.
know... I know what you are saying. It always seems that way. It seems | :26:27. | :26:29.
the big clubs have funds to make legal challenges. From 14th to 18th. | :26:30. | :26:36.
Still had an excellent season. The Daggers, as well, praise to them. | :26:37. | :26:40.
They've had good seasons this season. Hopefully they can build on | :26:41. | :26:44.
that next. Now, young man, what went on with your team at the weekend? | :26:45. | :26:48.
What's going on? Is it difficult when you have got over the line not | :26:49. | :26:54.
to take that into the next game 2-0 up and doing really well. I watched | :26:55. | :26:58.
the game there and we dominated and conceded two late goals. On Saturday | :26:59. | :27:02.
I wasn't there. I heard... Is that your own get out of jail? The lads | :27:03. | :27:09.
have said they didn't perform. The gaffer wasn't happy and on Saturday | :27:10. | :27:13.
they'll be looking to put that right. I guess the gaffer has to | :27:14. | :27:18.
issue a straightener like he did. He singled out one or two players and | :27:19. | :27:21.
said the rest were rubbish. You have to do that, you have to keep | :27:22. | :27:26.
everybody in very much in the place. There was a winning mentality at the | :27:27. | :27:31.
club. To go there and lose 4-1, I know coal chest her a lot to play -- | :27:32. | :27:35.
Colchester had a lot to play for. Credit to them performing. It was | :27:36. | :27:40.
sloppy goals, as well, set-plays and penalties and stuff. Stevenage at | :27:41. | :27:45.
home Saturday we look to put it right. Are you glad you took the | :27:46. | :27:51.
risk years ago, gave up that well-paid job on London Underground? | :27:52. | :27:56.
As soon as I got asked do I want to be a footballer, I will take it | :27:57. | :27:59.
every day of the week to follow your dream and that. To be doing it now | :28:00. | :28:04.
and playing and it's all come true, sitting next to Brighty. Really good | :28:05. | :28:10.
to have you in with us. Good to see you too. | :28:11. | :28:14.
One week to go. Plenty to play for, good luck to Brighton in their push | :28:15. | :28:18.
for the play-offs. And when it comes to the relegation stakes, by the | :28:19. | :28:21.
time you join us next week, we'll know the fate of these three teams. | :28:22. | :28:23.
Goodnight. | :28:24. | :28:39. |
