here. With me studio tonight, the man

who's got Rochdale going again, it's manager Keith Hill. Thanks for

coming in. Twitter - love it or hate it,

football can't get away from it. Players at every club tweet,

allowing thousands of curious followers into the finer details of

their lives, from what they've had for breakfast, to what they thought

of their team's performance. For some players it's a welcome release,

for others, it's proved a problem. Ian Haslam's been looking into the

impact on football of the social media revolution.

Twitter is potentially highly problematic for anyone in the public

eye including food dollars. Undeniably it is a great way for

clubs to put out information to supporters. But it is not the clubs

having the problems, it is the players. Bolton player scaled back

his tweeting after getting abuse from opposition bands.

It could be ordering on an obsession with this tweeting!

Burnley player close to his account as Twitter became an unwelcome

distraction during the January transfer -- transfer window. Also

Bloomfield Road, Tommy Ince joined simply to stop other people

pretending to be him. Some players think it is a great way to connect

with the fans. It is a nice way to meet the fans.

People can see that football players are actual people.

Late Kick Off has obtained documents sent out to clubs outlining social

media rules. There are reminders that the potential audiences

unrestricted and that comments made in the heat of the moment might be

regretted in the cold light of day. We have also got this document

marked confidential. Among the key points listed say that any comments

which aren't proper ring the game into disrepute. For managers as well

as the governing bodies, you will only find one North West boss active

on Twitter. I think I am more worried about the players using it.

They can be subject to glory and abuse on Twitter. Over at Ang Lee,

manager Sean Dyche is wary about Twitter but is confident his club

have the measure of that. We have a code of conduct with that. I

reinforce my beliefs with that. Managers do not like it because they

do not want you to put anything on it about the games. Everything has

to be behind closed doors. It depends on what kind of abuse you

get. The main reason is that footballers come off it is because

they get abuse which is bowing out of order.

While most managers do not fancy Twitter, some of the club hierarchy

do. Bill Gartside is a Twitter as is the chief executive of Accrington

Stanley. It is great and it is another avenue of communication and

it is good to keep the supporters updated. Perhaps the all in the

North West and beyond really is getting to grips with social media

sites like Twitter, whether it is good points I'd weighed the bad

points, it will continue to be a matter for discussion.

Much as I like to know all sorts of information, it is not for everyone.

It is a problem, and it is OK when you're winning games, but we are

only human. Some of the abuse players are getting has caused them

to close down their accounts. I feel bad the football Association, with

respect to making sure the players do not have Twitter accounts,

players are inquisitive and they want to know what fans feel about

their performance. But we have got to stop it at source and make sure

players do not have accounts. think players should be banned from

having occurrence? I think so. We should prepare managers how to deal

with Twitter. Do you have a ban in place? We try to, but it is very

difficult. I just believe it is causing too many problems, for

managers and for players. Families have received abuse on Twitter, and

it is just not acceptable. Input all terms, leading the team is a

disaster before a game. Was it leaked deliberately or

inadvertently? Inadvertently. Perhaps players telling their

friends that they have not impact? We have been given clear information

and team information prior to kick-off as well. I just feel that

if the Football Association was to take action and close all player

accounts, it would solve a lot of problems. We have seen is only one

manager in the on Twitter. manager who is on Twitter, for how

long, I am not sure. If you are not winning games, it can make things

uncomfortable. You could just wake up on a Monday morning to a story

that has made the papers and you have no control over it. It is an

unnecessary evil for me. Players spend too much time on it. Thank

you. Accrington Stanley's relegation

battle is our main focus in League Two. And it's with Friday night's

home clash with Morecambe that BBC Radio Manchester's Delyth Lloyd

starts her round up. A crucial three points for

Accrington in Friday night's Lancashire derby with Morecambe.

They went ahead midway through the first half, Lee Molyneux's free-kick

deflected in off Peter Murphy. Stanley doubled their lead just

before the hour when some poor Morecambe defending allowed Rommy

Boco to run through on goal and his scuffed shot was finished by Padraig

Amond. The victory leaves Stanley five points clear of the relegation

zone. Fleetwood's play-off hopes are all

but over after a 2-1 defeat at promotion chasing Rotherham. Daniel

Nardiello put the hosts ahead after just three minutes when Town keeper

Scott Davies' hurried clearance fell to the striker. Fleetwood pulled

level shortly after, when Junior Brown's effort was turned in by

David Ball. But Rotherham's persistence paid off and they

regained the lead through Kieran Agard midway through the second half

to further dent Town's faint hopes of a third successive promotion.

They're now five points off the play-off places with two games to

Rochdale crashed Port Vale's planned promotion party, earning a last gasp

draw at Spotland. Dale went ahead on 31 minutes through an own goal, Liam

Chilvers putting the ball in his own net. Valewere back on level terms

just three minutes later through a Tom Pope header and looked to have

sealed the win in the 89th minute, Chilvers nodding home to make amends

for his earlier error. But Rochdale put a stop to their celebrations

through Jason Kennedy's equaliser deep into injury time.

Let's look at what all that did to the table. Not much north west

interest in the promotion or play off picture. Fleetwood need better

form and big favours if they're to make the play-offs. The bottom half

shows how important Stanley's win on Friday night was. Their last two

games are both against mid table teams, away at Bristol Rovers and at

home to Oxford. That must've been satisfying

yesterday. What about the Rochdale fans watching this. What is

happening with your contract? got a meeting tomorrow with the

German and the Board of Directors. We are very close to finalising

negotiations. It is been very amicable and is something we want to

do. It is just about tomorrow, sitting at the table and thrashing

out a few minor details. Tomorrow we could hear that you have been made

permanent manager? I cannot see why not. I have really enjoyed my time

here. Topping last month, you were saying that one of the conditions

was that the club should desire and ambition. You getting that message

from the board the chairman? They are making me promises, but not

financial promises. The financial world is upside down. We will

develop our own players and as long as we are all in Saint with that

plan, we will be successful. they are in sync? They are.What

about you? You made no disguises about the fact that you wanted to

manage? I have a lot of time for Barnsley, and my experiences there.

I tried to develop them. We retained a championship status, but it is

very difficult because there are a lot of teams in a championship

spending a lot of money, and a lot of money they have not got. We are

looking for a fair and even competition and I feel there is not

-- there is not bad and teams like Barnsley are suffering as a result.

Barnsley are putting out decent results. Has the reputation been

damaged? Where do you stand personally? I did not want to be out

of the game. I got advised not to take the job at Rochdale but I am

glad I did, it has given me enthusiasm and belief and belief in

the players and we have still leave regressed as each game has gone on

and on the training pitch. And I see a very good group of young players

to develop for the future. Unbeaten run, but who advised you to go back?

You can hear soundbites, there is the old - that you should never go

back. -- adage. But it was a decision that I wanted to make. I

have been welcomed back. And we have shown really good progress and the

progress on the training pitch has given results. It was exactly what

you did at Rochdale last time that got you spotted. If, next season,

you get them up, the film might ring again. I have a lot more experience

than I had when I previously left. I do not regret leaving because I

enjoyed the championship and working for Barnsley but the decisions will

dictate my future. I am pretty relaxed about this but I am very

ambitious for Rochdale. Brilliant. Thank you. Thank you for being so

candid. The only consistent thing about Blackpool and Burnley has good

bringing in quality players, and adding to the squad, he will have a

good season. Will the club have the tools and the finances? Looking from

the outside, it does not look likely. But to compete at the top

half of the championship, you need the money. With edge conditions

proving tricky, the only goal of the game came in the second half. This

wondrous strike clinching the win for Blackpool and easing relegation

worries. Will we see the same squad next year or do you think there will

be changes? Possibly six other current squad still under contract

and it might even be less than that. It is a big-time. The expectations

have to be there. He has a big job on his hands. This will be where he

earns his money during the summer and the setup next season. I think

he needs to add to the squad. To get more consistency into the team and

perhaps have another plan if things do not go well on the pitch but if

he is given the chance, he could have a very good season next season.

What about juggling and keeping one eye on the summer? It is hard

because you do not know about the player contracts, what league I am

in. The quicker they can pick up the points, the quicker I can get that

around the table. It has been hard, it has been a quick, short fix. It

is about stability and we have the nucleus to take us forward. Today,

we were nearly but not quite and they were also. It did take that

moment of quality. With the manager is settling into Lancashire life,

the rivals could be back to battling it out at the top next season. Both
