Episode 14 Late Kick Off South, South West and West

There will only be one trophy going to Manchester this season, but we

have got two in our region. There is a celebration or two coming up

Saints in Paradise, back in the top flight, seven years on. They are

tampered -- they are champions, Swindon on top of League Two. They

are loving it, the town of Reading gives a royal welcome to the

championship Champs. Torquay or Crawley? Who has got what it takes

to win automatic promotion? Plus they are going down but they are

still looking up, realism from two relegated managers.

I am not ashamed of what has happened.

It could be as big as 17 or 18 players leaving the football club

and the same coming in. Thank you for joining us. Some are

up, some are down and some have taken time out from the

celebrations to join us here in the studio, because we have lied and

thought it was special last year, but to achieve what we have this

here as to finish the season with another promotion is phenomenal.

The memories of last year are still fresh in my mind, and for it to

He is a keen member of the team. He is the best goalkeeper in the

league. He worked very hard in the training ground and everything, and

young people like me, we try to take things from him, because the

work he does at his age, it is brilliant.

What is the biggest lesson he has given you?

To work and to get better every day and to work very hard every day to

give your best. At that is something that I want to do when I

am his age. But before that, we have got this

return to the Premier League. It has been a in -- an extraordinary

journey. You have the chance, Kelvin, to take a short cut back to

the Premier League, but I am glad you did not.

With the chairman of getting hold of May, it was fantastic. West Ham

were good to me as well. They understood how much it meant to me.

There are others out there already working for next season, putting a

new look team together, Nigel Atkins talking today about what new

We have got an environment that I believe is a good environment to

improve, to learn, to work hard, to develop. We have got to make sure

who comes into that group, it is important that we get our homework

right so that they fit in and add something to the group and buy into

the philosophy is that we have. So much said about the philosophy,

important have they been? It is amazing when you see all the

I am not sure a regular goalkeeper would have saved it anyway. Ryan

Taylor with a wonderful equaliser. Portsmouth 13 Nel earlier in the

season, but no repeat of that -- Portsmouth won by three goals.

Both goals came from Dexter Blackstock, but this Portsmouth

team included several players who will not be here next season.

back next season? I would be very surprised if it is

more than one or two. We could have 17 or 18 players leaving at the

same number coming in. It is going to be a tough summer.

A tough season ahead by the sound of things, Michael Appleton is not

sugaring the pill. He will have to work very hard to

That Reading silverware. Sunday saw them taking it into the streets in

an open-topped bus to celebrate Happy days for the Royals! You have

had a bus ride or two around Reading, haven't you? I have!

just celebrating. It is fantastic for the fans. Reading is a real

community club and it is a tradition to come out and celebrate

that achievement. It was miserable weather, wasn't it? Let's get the

low-down. We had to get it over the line and when we did that, it makes

it even more special. A great occasion to enjoy. I have never

felt so good about being so wet in all my life! You can sense it. It

is tangible. You can feel it on the bus. We have had bad here now for a

long, long time. Going to Sidcup... And now we have got this team.

measure of the man that he is not looking to take the praise onto

himself. He is looking to give it to other people and he will be a

great addition to the Premier League. And looking to mix it up

with the big boys, and he is working with them because he has

Paolo Di Canio has said all Caesar and his team will lift that trophy.

And Swindon did just that after a victory over Port Vale. They have

won 25 of their last 33 league games. They picked up more points,

52, than any other team in League 2 in the calendar year 2012. And they

have the best home record in League 2 this season. 60 points from 23

games. They dropped only nine at home. They have scored 49 goals at

the County Ground this season. The highest total in the division. And

they have conceded the fewest goals in the league this season. Only

eight. Paul Benson scored twice. A 5-0 victory meant it was time for

Wonderful scenes there at the County Ground, and that is the bit

of silverware they have won. If you are curious, incidentally, about

the T-shirt Paulo was sporting, it said "have a look at this, mother

and father, it is all thanks to your". He lost not too long ago.

There you go. A lovely dedication there. A great day for Swindon, of

course. Let's hear from them. I was sat here a few months ago,

they were slipping into relegation and they didn't seem to be much

pride. Not much passion. We were going through the motions and we

deserve to get relegated. Maybe that is what pushed them more than

anything, just to go, this desire, this change in attitude. And has

given a buzz to the club, the town. And it is a feel-good factor.

People like winning, feeling happy. There are so many things to be

depressed and about and when people are feeling down, it is lovely to

have something to feel good about. We have taken the squad for. There

is no lying about it. When you get a few extra points, an extra bit of

quality... We will definitely be up there. Promotion next season?

sides are in pole position. Crawley and Torquay. Southend are just

behind them. Crawley, may have the edge on goal difference after what

was, on Saturday, a nerve-wracking day of twists and turns.

As kick-off approached, Crawley when the driving seat. One point

better off than Torquay. And get better than relegation-threatened

Hereford. It was supposed to be a formality. But this free kick was

the closest they came. So it is goalless here at half-time added a

stalemate, too, at Torquay. A very hard work against Crewe as well. A

tough Alfrida also in play-off contention. At the interval,

Crawley was still in the automatic shift quite dramatically. This left

them angry. No, furious! And as the unthinkable happens at Crawley,

just a glimmer of light for Torquay. The Glimore was delivered almost

simultaneously. Gary Stevens put Torquay 1 up. A penalty saved by

the goalkeeper cemented the lead. It was all going Torquay's way.

Especially because, back at Crawley, if the post it was and keeping

Torres at bay, at the goalkeeper was. And the worse was to follow. A

whole prairie of space opening up at the back and Hereford walked

through not once... But twice. At full-time, Crawley were shock

losers by 3-0. They have only sat down in their changing room but

news has come through of the late equaliser for Crewe at Torquay. It

four minutes into injury time, their hearts were broken. Crawley

are now back above Torquay on goal difference, all-square on points,

Southend draw, they will be back up with goal difference of all three

He might be talented but was beaten twice in the first half as Southend

kept up their challenge for automatic promotion. Six games

without a win now for Oxford. They have accepted they will not finish

in the top seven. But it looks like the players are still battling on.

They could have done better. We should have been in the play-offs,

definitely, without a doubt. Maybe next time. As long as we can push

on next year, I think we are all right. At least we are not playing

Conference League football any more! We are still in League 2, so

still have that to look forward to. Congratulations the Cheltenham, who

after a bobble hat secured their play-off place, and they had to do

it the hard way, coming from behind to beat Bradford. James Spencer

scored twice and Burgess got the third, on loan from county. They

are likely to finish six no matter what happens this weekend.

Aldershot are going to finish the season not too far from a play-off

place. How encouraging is that? Of very encouraging. The shots twice

had to come from behind for the them, Jamie! It ended up being 2-0

-- 2-2. Rotherham had a man centre off. They were down to ten men. A

similar story - two yellow-card for Jordan Roberts after this lunch

near the end. Ouch! Poles galore at the Memorial End. They swept aside

Accrington this side and justified their place. Rovers got their first

Rovers are unbeaten at home. They were dominant in this match.

Chances galore... And even though Accrington Stanley got a goal back,

the other side was in control. 4th and 5th. What a way to end your

home campaign! They will be among the favourites for promotion next

season for us stop what about Plymouth? They secured their

Football League feature last weekend. Will they be among the

front-runners? It will be interesting to see how proactive

they R'n'B game. It will be fantastic to give their home side

something to support. Let's just celebrate the achievement of

staying in the league and let next Confirmation that Chobham are

definitely in the play-offs. Oxford made a win. -- Cheltenham are

definitely in the play-offs. -- Oxford need a win. Still half a

chance? They have had a really good season but Aldershot could do them

a favour. You never know. What about Cheltenham? In the play-offs?

Belief. They have to stick together, and two games to the end of the

season. Get to Wembley for the best experience, hopefully, of your

career. Take it as all positive. Great stuff. Back to the action now,

and there will be it looks less of the Ws in League 1.

Wycombe's relegation to League 2 was confirmed after a crazy ending

here. County soon equalised after this score. Wycombe were awarded a

County pushing for a play-off place, we come were far from comfortable.

They have conceded more goals in the league than anybody else. -- we

come up were far from comfortable. This is 25th goal of the season for

this team. This was too harsh. And even

harsher was the quality of this strike. Not too much High Wycombe

as bye Wycombe! Heavy defeat at Carlisle. But this 4th goal came in.

return to League 2. But they have also scored the fewest amount of

months. Whether we stay up or go down, that still needs to happen,

so on to the next and we will build another team and I would be excited

about that because that is not wide -- that is my job. I am not ashamed

of what has happened. At some point, as much as it is not nice to say,

it would happen that we would go Scunthorpe after this... But the

equaliser means it is only one win in their last eight performances.

They now have to decide whether their current manager becomes their
