other than substitutions, possible change in tactics, but it is very

much over to the players and they will accept responsibility for what

they do right and wrong. It has been very difficult coming in it, a

massive challenge for me and the coaching staff and for the players.

We have married that challenge now. We know each other and know what to

expect. Players accept change if they feel as though I can help them

in the way that they can help me. We have had to wrestle, get a

little bit of appreciation and respect for what we can achieve at

this football club and we are well on our way, but it is always

difficult in the first six months at any club. I do enjoy my work, no

question. I was fortunate enough to be a football player so got a

second chance to be a football manager. I enjoy work and have an

enthusiasm. I expect the players to want to work and enjoy work, enjoy

being productive and improving and then showcasing that on match day.

What is really important is making sure that you win and we have to

have the winning philosophy, as well. At this point now, getting

the team ready, what goes in? of our work is done. We want to do

this in the course of the week in preparation for Millwall. We seek

information to the players all week on the opposition. They want to be

that much information about it being overkill. Today we want to be

as relaxed as we can. Everybody wants to win, the easiest thing is

to be a loser, but our players are going out to win on behalf of

supporters and be more successful. This is a business they of the week,

this is where you are judged and we will know where we are after the

What is it like speaking to the press after a result like that?

is difficult at times because there seems to be such a negative knee-

jerk reaction. We are seem to lack energy and enthusiasm and it is

unlike me all our teams. We normally play with a passion and.

play-offs last year. It is high expectations at Barnsley. If they

finish in the top 10 it will be a great result. One of the big things

which has gone against him is losing his skipper. He was probably

one of the better players in the division and he has been a big loss.

Danny Drinkwater has now gone to Leicester. That is right. The

biggest this has been Butterfield. The Barnsley public can be quite a

tough bunch to please, he was not happy with some sections at the

weekend? I think Barnsley do not like Sheffield United or anything

to do with them, but the fans have got to have a reality check and say,

we are 12 points above relegation so it is not as if we are feeling

that. I am optimistic. Brian, can you see a day that Barnsley get

back in the Premier League? not? We had Blackpool last season,

they went straight through and did really well. Wigan up there, so I

don't see why not. There is always a surprise. Time for a look at the
