of the quarterfinals of the 2018

Dafabet masters.

We have of Shaun

Murphy taking on Judd Trump, for

many people, a good bet to win the

tournament this year. Commentary

from Stephen Hendry and John Virgo.

STEPHEN HENDRY: To be honest it'll

be like watching an exhibition match

today. I can't see many safety shot

is being played. Could be the match

of the tournament, this one, if both

players play to their ability.

on the safety side. But it would be

all about when you get your chances,

taking them.

you sense he's going to give you

chances, there's always going to be

careless shot where you think...

side, through three or four

cushions, Judd Trump, but a little

bit short on reaching the baulk.

this tournament in the last few

years, all these top players will be

sensing an opportunity.

title, Shaun Murphy being one of

them, and John Higgins. Kyren

Wilson, Mark Allen, Judd Trump.

Still looking to add this title to

their CV.

players left in the tournament. Play

these big events is to get better as

This is a shot with such confidence.

You might be a little bit itchy in

Normally we would say run into the

pink. He wants to avoid the pink

look. Even then, it's gone wrong.

Looking at the join of those two

less pace, but that is only being

The easy as safety shot is of the

red to the right-hand cushion but

there is no way he's going to place

reds. But, now, if Shaun Murphy was

to get the next chance, he wouldn't

The first shot

that Judd Trump played, the safety

shot, perhaps it was a little bit

wary of Shaun Murphy's long game.

Perhaps needs to play a little bit

more containing safety today. He's

definitely in the top two or three

in the world, Shaun Murphy, but day

in, day out, he's so strong in that

department with a long pots.

Well, that has worked out OK for

Judd. There is possibly red will

to go for the red and you fear that,

It is just so careless to hit the

not have put that better with his

certainly looks as though he's

settled in now. He looked a bit edgy

in the first frame. But making his

way through this contribution with

no problems, whatsoever.

That

lovely, simple shot he played to the

black, just a little dab, getting

tough on the red. He plays at a

great pace, although is that end a

break, or does he have a red to the

right middle?

Great recovery. Probably not going

to leave anything but it still

needed potting, and he's nicely on

the black. Well, nicely on the

black, but this is it! Almost a

mirror image of the last frame. Judd

Trump getting in first, got a break

of 49, and Shaun had chances to

pinch that frame. Same applies here.

Bad decision, for me.

That is a

shocker. Shouldn't have left himself

hampered, there, and could always

happen the way he played it. Don't

know why he's bringing the cue ball

back that way. Very strange shot.

But he still has a chance to show --

black. Look where this cue ball is

now. He will be fuming inside, Judd

this end of the table. It looks to

me that he is making the most of the

pot. He concentrated so much on that

he didn't really think about the cue

ball. You need to make sure you are

on the brown at least.

is a nice red. The cue ball has just

travelled. I thought it would be on

the red to the left corner. A great

pot on the yellow. Underneath the

players in the world that get more

else. Ronnie O'Sullivan does as well

but the cue power of these two

players is incredible. Effortless as

well.

the red and if he pops it it will be

frame is at his mercy. You always

the easy way out.

absolutely right. This is tricky.

this frame, it all counts up at the

end. Missed it. It was the place

from these two. Yet to catch fire,

if you like. Both pretty nervy.

You will want to make certain of

this. Just one snooker needed at the

moment. And that'll be mightily

relieved Shaun Murphy.

of matches when you are not playing

well, is just think of the number of

frames you need to win the match,

in winning this match and going on

Having a bit of a problem with his

cue at the moment. Finding the bit

sticky. A damp cloth usually does

the trick. Why bring it with a damp

cloth, and then just let it dry

naturally. -- white it with a damp

cloth.

With a maple cue, you have two dry

The ash cue has a grain running down

the grain, as you can clearly see

there. The maple cue has nothing.

Down the years the majority of the

top players have used the ash. I

think it is a stronger bit of wood.

maple. But then I was given an ash

cue and I used it all my career. And

that was the thing. In those days

you use to use the same cue

throughout your career, whereas now

with technology, well, Ronnie

O'Sullivan gets new cues made nearly

every season.

he makes him an exact replica.

because of the grain, that it

sometimes looks different when you

look down the cue -- and you always

feel with the ash. And meanwhile,

Judd Trump, he's taking these very

well. The pink's out of commission

now but he still got a nice angle on

either red the play nicely on the

black. And this black will put him

40 points in front with remaining.

So, only a couple of reds away from

extending his lead to two frames

once again.
