Day 2 Masters Snooker Extra

Hello again from Alexandra Palace on day two of the Masters. On our menu

for you in this programme - we have a very intriguing match-up between a

former world number one and a former Masters finalist, because we've got

the Juddernaut in town, Judd Trump, against Fu if, who was last seen in

this competition in the final at Wembley Arena in 2011. He has not

featured in this event since then. So, promises to be a very

interesting match-up. At the moment, before they played, it was Judd

Trump with the superior record in their head to head - six victories

to Marco's one. What would happen today? Let's find out in the company

of John Virgo and birthday boy Stephen Hendry.

He's got to start producing now, Judd. He's the best of his era. When

you ask who the up-and-coming talent is, everybody says Judd Trump. He's

got to start proving that on the table. He lost to John Higgins in

the final of the World Championship. You thought that would be the start

of something big, but it's not materialised.

He's got one of the toughest competitors on the circuit, when

he's on his game, Stephen, in Marco Fu. Absolutely.

Marco Fu is either a world-beater or you just don't hear from him.

Tremendous scorer when he's playing well, fuif afu. Fantastic in amongst

the pink and black. Great control. I agree - we were talking about

Judd. These are the tournaments - if he believes he's one of the best

players in the world, you have to be winning these tournaments.

He's left a red to the far right corner. Wouldn't have to do much

with the cue ball to help position on the black. That was an

opportunity missed there from Marco, as we see it again.

APPLAUSE Nicely potted, so the first chance,

the first frame, always a settler if you can score a few points at your

first opportunity. Didn't have to do anything with the

cue ball - it was automatically going to be on the black. What can

he make of this opportunity? It's amazing, that red that Marco

missed. Your very first pot attempt in the match. It's amazing how it

dents the confidence a wee bit if you don't get it. These are pots

that professionals expect to get. His hand was on the table.

You can bet your life, before he came out in the arena on the

practice table, he was practising that type of shot.

But he missed it on the big stage, and it could be very costly.

A couple of loose reds. Very soon, Judd will be thinking of a way to

get an angle on the colour. He'll be disappointed. He'll have to

play for the one open red now. Should have had more angle on the

blue than this. He's a bit straight on this red.

It's not going to be easy to get a good angle on the blue. He'd prefer

to go in via the blue rather than the black, because the pink is where

it is. Checking to see if the pink pots - that would obviously be an

easier way of opening up the reds. It was a bit careless to leave

himself straight off the blue there. Absolutely superb!

APPLAUSE He got some pace in that coming off

the top cushion. Just a little bit of an art, but they couldn't have

done much better. Good shot. CROWD GROANS

So careless! So very, very careless. He was absolutely perfect on the red

and must have been thinking about the next shot rather than the one in

front of him! I was going to say how relaxed and

focused and composed he looked around the table, and then he does

this... Don't focus on the shot, and you just put a tiny trace of side

on, and it pushes the cue ball over. Easily done.

There is a little gap - he can just manoeuvre it over.

He just glanced a bit at the table, Marco. I'm sure when Judd brought

the balls as he did, he thought that was frame over.

Played it well. APPLAUSE

Back up for the blue but no problem. Perfect in it.

Do not know if the pink pots the left corner. He will have to move

the red at some stage. He decided to do it off that black.

It is OK, not perfect. He has let the cue ball drift. For

all five inches too far. Is he straight enough to drop the blue in

deadweight. He did drop it in deadweight. Once

again, not perfect. Judd Trump may see a chance to get back to the

table. This is a thin cut. Not fair. Now has he covered the red

over the corner. That is what Marco Fu will be looking at. Do not then

she has. Judd Trump can clearly get through to the Swede. He still has a

13 point league. -- red. These three reads, if straight, and he is a bit

concerned, the one in he does not want to do is pinch at the pocket

and must the red. He can screw back, he has plenty of? Power. Screw

back for the pink rather than the black. But do not miss the pot.

28 points the league now. 35 remaining. Pot this rego 29 ahead

with 27 remaining. -- red. Frame ball, missed. Marco Fu looking at

the scoreboard as we have a look at that must in the frame ball red. Be

disappointed to miss that. This red is tough. Played it nicely.

Absolutely perfect in the black. A new favourite for this frame now.

He has overhead that. Can he get past the brown. He overhit it badly.

He will have two play over the right-hand side to kill the pace of

the cue ball. Nicely done. Needs himself a little bit further away

from the green. Four remaining colours needed. This

will be a blow to the confidence of Judd Trump, he has had to macro good

chances to win the first frame. -- two. That is perfect in the blue. He

could not have put it better with his hand. An inch perfect in the

pink. Points are level. Black for the

first frame. In it goes, they blow to Judd Trump.

Looked as if he would win macro the frame. Marco Fu missed the vital

frame ball red. Marco Fu takes the first frame.

Little bit unfortunate. Hoping to be in a mother colour there. -- in

another colour. He did used to go for everything. He

has lent a few lessons over the last few seasons. You cannot pot every.

But the two balls he has missed, he backed on to pot and it cost the

first frame. We will see how has powers of recovery are. He would be

very disappointed to lose that first frame in the size he did. He has

just slipped off the red. There is a red to the right middle will stop

awkward queueing, it must be said. This is definitely one he would have

taken on. Even last season. He has given it thought.

To me that Reid was more difficult than be blue he refused. Few would

expect to get it. This one, you are striking down like

that, a very acute angle, you have two be so accurate.

Here is the shot, Judd Trump hit a blue to the macro corner. This

natural game is to attack. If he makes himself play defensive, it

affects as confidence and his game. Their comment, and a few had won the

first frame like he should have done, he would have thought about

the blue. As a body blow when you lose a frame like that. He has a

chance here. He could not have played it any better than that. Does

the black still go to the corner? He would have been very unlucky if it

did not. It clearly does. What a chance this is.

A funny thing, we talk about, all the great shot is, one of the arts

as mentioned in the studio as we watch the split again, is do not

miss easy shots. Believe me, if you do not miss easy pots, when you are

in you will not lose many frames. I can't believe he missed that, you

could fail at the other side of the pocket. That was into a blind

pocket, possibly forgiveable, but one we expect at him to get will

stop needs to make the most of this opportunity. Straightaway, he has

missed the cannon that he played. He played the cannon to red above the

black. But he is OK. As it turns out.

He does need to win this frame in wonders. That will raise the

awkward, striking down will stop. He exaggerates it.

It is amazing. Was he trying to pinch it at the pocket to avoid the

cannon in the red. I do not know, whatever happened, he hit across it

slightly. A bit of body movement there, he has tremendous cue power,

does not need to Jews as body to create that. All about timing. That

is pressure. That is when you are not feeling pressure -- confident.

That comes in. Looking at that shot again, a little

slight movement of the head. Probably brought on by the first

frame. A couple of Mrs in the first frame, it sticks in your hit. --

this is. Not the easiest opportunity for Marco in the way the balls are

situated. That is a nice cannon. It has opened the four reads up a

little bit more. -- reds. Judd sits in his seat and suffers another

straightforward pot. He played that down the left-hand side to get the

cannon. He could flick the end red. He has not it on. -- knocked it on.

Played it will, right in the heart of the pocket. It has been mentioned

many a time, due to the fact he has a very short cue action, Marco Fu,

heat is not possess a lot of cue power, having to run the cue ball up

and down the table is not the easiest for him. He wobbled the

green in. Played it nicely. Finished perfectly in this red. -- in this

red. We just caught a brief limbs of his

cue action there. It is perfect cue action if you wanted one for when

you are in and around the black and pink areas.

Very economical, nothing can go wrong. Just the long game that is

his week and is, consistently missing long balls. -- weakness. At

this end of the table, what he is playing is as good as anybody.

This black will put in one point in front.

He will need these four remaining reds will stop not easy to win the

frame at this visit. If he is dead straight on this red

pet will be awkward. He struck that well. APPLAUSE.. He

is with that WWE the world. -- the best in the world. He got plenty of

action in the cue ball. He still needs another good shot now to keep

it going. Bottom, follow-through. It was the red in the bolt line that

was portable. If you did it would be in the yellow. A little bit too

risky. If he did play the red that is in the bolt line to the far left

corner, the only red could lead as the one is playing. If he fancied

the long straight red, I would not name him. -- Lehman.

Is he playing across double, this red to the right middle.

He has played it well. Good shot. APPLAUSE..

Marco Fu, five point in front. An important tactical exchange, this.

Sometimes in these type of situations, patience is what can

stand you in good stead. Of the two, I would favour Marco Fu having more

patience than judge. It is an important facet of this match. An

excellent shot. Top drawer. Well played.

The shaded area, that's what they do on match of the day. Look at all

these -- the space in the shaded area. The speakers are all red.

That was unlucky. Wanted to hit the red half ball up the table, to catch

it that then and going off, he can consider himself very unfortunate.

He could have a thousand attempts at that and not do it again. Here is a

chance for Judd Trump. We know the big stumbling block, that is the

red, tight against the right-hand side cushion. If he could pot this

Mac pro to in the ball and play the cannon, he would play it, but the

green is in the way. Left a nice angle on the green. It

is value trying to move the red away from the cushion. People need it to

win the frame. Could not have played it any better than that stop

APPLAUSE.. Chance to win the frame. Barring slipups.

Looking at the scoreboard desperately. Once to see if he can

win this frame without potting the blue. He can do, pots the pink, goes

10 points in front. Then the yellow, green and brown, one of them

with a colour, and then three bulk colours. He will not need the blue

to clinch the frame will stop he will be well past the point of

Just a bit of an exhibition shot, he will be mighty relieved, Judd

Trump. Not without a mistake will two. It is one piece.

I always believed no player settles until he gets his first frame on the

scoreboard. They have both had won and both had Mrs. Judd Trump has

missed more than Marco at the moment will stop all set now for a good

match. Should not be a problem for Marco to

rest and to the bunch here. People too much weight in that? Has

you left it in the middle? He has. It was a bit careless.

Just a bit of heavy contact. The cue ball to run through as he would have

liked. He will not play the pink because the spot is not available.

He will put this red into the same pocket.

You would like to run through for the black. But if you do not get

kiss, you will end up with nothing. We will see how he plays it. He did

not want to take that risk. He played it for the pink, pleaded

could be the pink going into the right corner, it looks as though it

will. Is he on the black? He did not expect to kiss that read as full as

he did. It looks OK. That was a good shot. It did not have the perfect

angle, but forced it without any effort. Inch perfect on this red.

There is one loose red, but time to go into them? And awkward pack. And

awkward angle on the black. He did not catch the bunch for that. He has

a red to left centre. He played a stunned shot.

Anyway, it worked out nicely. It would be a lot better to go into

next time around it. He could go into it off the pink. He did. He has

wanted to the right corner. It is not too difficult a pot. He has to

control the cue ball. He played it very well. This is a really good at

the Jammu now to clinch this third frame. -- a really good opportunity

now. That easy read he missed in the

first round will sharpen him up. He will not let it go again. If you do

not concentrate, he did not strike it properly. Having done that once,

he will not do it again. He would consider red as under civil. There

is nothing under civil in the scam. This is the Franklin show. Just a

cover needed. He will go 71 points in front with just 67 remaining. He

screwed it slightly, but he is in the snookers required stage. If he

pops this red, you will expect Marco Fu to come back to this table. Marco

Fu has not had much chance in this frame.

Just thinking back to this frame, a slipper behind the black, did not

look any problem, Marco Fu overhit it an inch or two. He has been set

down ever since. Unfortunately, we will not see a century. An excellent

break of 87. Judd Trump put that first frame defeat behind him and

leads by two frames. That is a good safety. Such a fine

line isn't it? Between attack and defence. You feel as if it turns

into a tactical battle. You would favour Marco Fu. I do not know at

this red sticking out will pot. If it does, he will have it replaced.

The reason being that Marco Fu message. He could go in off, or he

could rattle in the jaws of this pocket. He will have to catch this

just right. A Miss Q. Now, a warning. It will be replaced and he

will be warned. He is not want to miss again, otherwise he will lose

the frame. Plenty of chalk on a tip. He hit it this time. That was always

his problem. He was frightened of knocking it into the left corner. It

is what he has done. Judd Trump has knocked in a few of these. Not that

one. Much to pick. He has left this red. How easily it can turn around.

That was a chance. You always get a chance.

From both players it is pretty reasonable. He played that nicely.

He is on the black. He will play a cannon on the red to the left of the

black. He will try to develop it. He pleaded nicely. This is where he is

at his best, Marco Fu. He would have liked the cue ball to

travel a few extra inches. He could leave a red to the right corner. He

will be looking for an angle of the black after this red. It is always

difficult to go into the bunch with one or two reds.

Where is the red? It just ran past the middle pocket. He did not have

anything easy now. Plenty of bottom. He just did not have enough pace.

You would see Ronnie O'Sullivan play that in the cue ball would keep

travelling. There is nothing easy, a possibility of red to the medal. It

is hampered. A nice pot. A very good pot. He is

just about on the black. On a good recovery. Back in good

position. This pink is still possible. He will

keep running. A nice angle to come off one

question and hit the bunch. -- cushion. He can do it off the blue.

He looks to have the perfect angle. He decided to play for the one red.

He is nicely honoured. A pot will bring a couple more reds into play.

The blue has no spot available, the peak is occupying the blue spot. He

goes as close to the pot as you can. The cue ball close to the

middle. Both the blue and pink will be possible. They are not touching.

He wants to play the black, but he may have left himself too much

angle. The black to the right corner. And those angle on the blue

to run through. He would get it either way. It will make the black

available to both corners. He decided to stun down the line. He

will still play for that read, which clears both corner pockets now. This

is an excellent chance. Just looking at Marco Fu's body

language, and that of a grimace. He should have been better that. That's

was careless. No harm done. Now back in perfect position. Potting this

red will release the reds next to it. It will go into the right

corner. 59 points as the lead, 67 remaining. He is nicely on the

black. He would fancy a sensory hair. -- a century here. He is not

happy with that. It did not run through borough not, but it will not

cost. He is in the slipper is required stage. A funny old game. It

did not seem that long ago that he was being warned that if he did not

hit the red, he would forfeit the game. He finished up with a good

safety shot. He has sat down ever since. -- Judd Trump has sat down

ever since. Highest break so far in the Masters.

It was a break of 136. ?10,000 for the highest break.

The front-runner for the prize is 138. There have already been three

centuries, but as many as you would normally expect. We are only into

the second day. Just not the right side of the blue hair. He is the

perfect position on the pink. He will have to send the cue ball in

and out. It is going to need to bounce off

the stock cushion. This for the frontrunner in the high break prize.

In it goes. That was Marco Fu at his best. He gets around the pink and

black and that cue action is tailor-made it. He wins the first

frame after the interval and leads by three frames. -- leads, 3-2.

That is a little bit careless from Marco Fu. I think you left one here.

He has not had a good record with this. He has been leading bulls on.

It has cost them. A simple looking snooker he has left the pot on.

The big difference between the two players is that Judd Trump is like

myself, he cares how he plays. For Marco Fu, victory is important. Judd

Trump work of the pleasure unless he is playing well. I know a few

players, if they miss a few pots early on, that the villas are they

are entitled to win it. It is an embarrassment, if you like. Other

players put those shots behind them. They think is not yet over line...

-- as long as you get. A decent opportunity now for Judd

Trump to build a useful lead in this important seventh frame. Best of 11,

first to six. He books his place in the second round.

Just missed the cannon that. He has played it on the outside. He just

shaved passes. He always knew he would have another one, but he can

certainly retain position on the black. He thinks he can, dropping it

in. What sort of an angle has E.ON this

red? It is a cave. He can screw on an off the side cushion. A bit

straighter than he would have liked. He cannot get on that straight

because of the red that he tried to before. He is going to have to

either run through the cluster or play the screenshot. -- screw shot.

He decided to play with lots of pace. Two reds went in. He is not on

the black. A bit of pressure on this blue. There is the second one in the

second pocket. He used all the pocket there. You

could see he was not happy. Slight movement there. That was one that

could have been uneasiness. He just got away with it. -- and easy mess.

A bit more pace and it would not have dropped. Take nothing for

granted in the scam. It is not dissimilar to the red he missed in

the first game. If anything, he want to be near the right hands Jordan

that. This was the one. Maybe, unintentionally, hitting across the

ball slightly. A touch of the right-hand side pushing the cue ball

over. This black to go 67 points in front.

One more red required. He is on the red he needs.

One brown, one blue, two thinks and the blacks. It would be nice to see

him make a century break. His opponent has a ready-made 138, which

is the highest break in the Masters this year. He could not be that

here. Every player worth his salt likes to make a century break. It

gives the crowd something to cheer about.

He tried to move the red. There was no need for that.

In that. Wonderful. Perfect on the black. What a plot that was. What a

shame. I'll! I was looking at the wrong pocket. -- Oh! A great pot.

Was the black trick shot or a flute? I would hazard a guess that very few

players could pot that at that pace. This is when he is at his happiness,

when he can be knocking the ball is like this. It really shows off his

talent. It just needs to slow up to be perfect. Here is another deep

screw up and down the table. What a wonderful finish and a

wonderful frame. He worked hard to win the last one, he did that one in

style. He now leads, 4-3. Marco Fu had to sit out the last

frame. He gets frame eight under way. We'll be hoping he gets a

chance. That is the strange thing about snooker. In a frame five G-Men

a marvellous break, highest of the tournament, but has never had an

opportunity since. -- in frame five he made a marvellous break.

He missed the red, but he really struck it well. Wasn't far away from

the pot. Because he hit it and got so close to the pot, that's why the

cue ball did as he expected - got back to the baulk end.

Terrific pot from Marco. Nice angle on the blue.

The cue came off the bridge end a bit - that's what he has to do

sometimes to get the power that's required. A good, accurate pot.

A good idea there - he played the cannon into the black, trying to

bring the black into play. He's done that.

He arcs the cue ball into the pack, bringing it back through the reds.

Good shot. APPLAUSE

The fourth frame took aphour. It's been a good standard. Early in the

match, there were a few misses from both players, but then we had that

long, drawn-out affair in the fourth frame. Since then, the frames have

really picked up - and the pot percentage. Particularly for Judd

Trump, up to 90% now. 93% for Marco - normally good enough to win a

match, but he finds himself 4-3 behind!

A lot will depend now on the angle - if he nailed the angle to pot the

blue into the far right corner and screw back into the main bunch of

reds. It's imperative now that he gets a

good angle on the black. There's no more loose reds to play for.

This could be the key to the frame if he pots this black and the reds

spread nicely - he should win it. APPLAUSE

Nice break of 54. Not a bad finish. He had a few chances to go into the

cluster, and left it till the last minute. That's the problem - if you

just don't get it right on that last attempt, you can't win the frame.

Michaela took so long to call a miss, I thought maybe he just

scraped it, but obviously hadn't. I don't think he can hit this red full

ball. He can't afford to give too many

points away... Just check that for me, please. Yann

Verhass - marking this match. That's where it was. That's where it is

now. Looks pretty good to me. He won't be worn here. He clearly

can't make full contact, which is a term I learned earlier on. He's now

62 points behind. Does he think it's rolling off slightly?

He doesn't want to catch this red too thick. Well played.

APPLAUSE He's not got a good length for the

cue ball, but he didn't want to leave a chance for his opponent. One

more chance, and Marco Fu will win the frame.

Even though Marco's 62 points in front, there's not a colour safe.

There's a red safe now, though. APPLAUSE

The only red that Marco can hit - the one on the left-hand side of the

table - is the one he doesn't want to play. He doesn't want to bring

that away from the cushion. What's the alternative? With all

these colours in the open - 62 lead might not last for long. 2-cushion

escape. There's a bit of pressure on the

2-cushion escape. Marco can clearly get to the red on the left-hand side

of the table. In the earlier match, he played this shot and missed it

the first time. The second time, he caught it way thick. Obviously

doesn't want to do that. He'll have to play the red on the side cushion.

As a bonus, he's knocked the pink reasonably safe.

In it goes. He's bound to the other colour. As we said, as we see this

red - it looked a little bit wide. : Earlier when we were saying all the

colours were in the open, but now there's an awkward pink, awkward red

- the main priority now for Judd is to

he should be able to do that and get right within range, points-wise, of

his opponent. Don't think too far ahead in these

circumstances - just concentrate on reducing your deficit.

Easily said, but that red's always on the back of your mind. That's the

one thing that makes you think you have a chance.

A possibility, but I think he'll have other chances. As I say, he'll

be more intent on trying to reduce the deficit here.

Normally we'd say that left red on the left-hand side of the table

would be OK for a left-handed player, but it won't be an easy pot

no matter what. He's looked at the possibility of

playing the red more in the middle of the table and playing that cannon

onto the red. Will he be on the colour? Just about on the blue. He

has released that red. He's made it a little bit easier to get on. He

could possibly play the blue and play off two cushions and try and

develop that red further that's on the left cushion. He's always going

to be on the other red to the right corner. Maybe the blue's just too

fine an angle. CROWD GROANS

Mmm. Well, whatever you do, don't miss the blue. That now means that

Marco comes to the table eyeing up the scoreboard. He's 28 points in

front - red and black would put him 36 points in front, with 35

remaining. 36 points the lead, 35 remaining.

He'll play the double here. If it goes in, Judd won't bother, you

wouldn't have thought, coming back to the table. It'll be all square.

Four apiece. First priority for Judd is to hit

this red and get it safe. APPLAUSE

he can pot it, get position on the black maybe. Needs a bounce. He's

got to pot the black, otherwise he'll need more than one snooker.

Could send the yellow behind the table. Didn't have to send it too

far. Just stun that cue ball behind the pink.

Nearly got the double-kiss! Put it's worked out well - he got the snooker

he needed! As we've seen in this match, this has not been Marco's

strength today, escaping from snookers.

He flicked the pink, but managed to avoid the double kiss on the yellow.

The problem is, if you are sending the yellow behind the green, it's in

the far back corner. It's always dangerous. If you don't get the

snook, make certain you get the object ball safe.

He's got a snooker. You wouldn't think it's going to be difficult to

hit. Just a one-cushion escape. At this level, you'd expect Marco not

to hit this yellow. That's apadvantage for Marco,

meaning Judd can only flick off this yellow. Might have a possibility if

he hits it thin enough to cannon in behind the black.

Looks a good line. Maybe just a little bit narrow.

Didn't want to nudge that pink onto the cushion, although the chance

Marco will take it off here - that was one of Judd's best chances of

winning snookers back, by that pink. I'm not quite certain what Judd

played there but, whatever it is, I think it's cost him this frame.

He hits that, his opponent concedes. Judd Trump hopes they're still there

in this frame. I think that will be enough for

Judd, and he nods to concede. APPLAUSE

It's Marco Fu who pulls one back. It was frame that could have gone

either way, but it's four apiece. If he can get this safe, why didn't

he play it before? He hasn't got it safe, and he's here's a chance now

for Judd. I said he just needed one more chance, and if he can get

position on the black, particularly, then maybe he can run through. He

could screw back for the blue. This is a chance to level the match.

This could take us into a decider. APPLAUSE

60 points the lead. Still 91 remaining. He'd like to have been on

this red so he could play for the black. The black only available into

this corner pocket. He's still looking for three reds, three

colours. Played it nicely!

APPLAUSE Another couple of rolls would have

been better, but he's on the black. Of course, every time he pots a red,

that reduces the amount remaining by eight points - a red and a black is

the maximum. This black would put him 76 points

in front with just 75 remaining. A snooker required. Looks like a

decider! Add in a colour, and you wouldn't

see Marco Fu coming back to the table.

We've learned a lot about the misrule today, Stephen!

Full contact, yeah... He's done what he had to do, Judd.

He's got this frame won. Delightful positional shot. He's

already had a 120 break in this match, has Judd. A chance he might

make his second century - as long as you're 73 or more coming up to the

colours, you can make a hundred. Judd is a crowd-pleasing type of

player, but he'll also have one eye - as will Marco - on the deciding

frame that's to come. Coo Wonderful shot. Absolutely

inch-perfect on the blue. Lovely touch.

A 120 break in the seventh frame to go 4-3 in front in this very, very

important... 101 to send us in all square, 5-5.

APPLAUSE Both players now getting ready for

their final-frame shoot-out for a place in the second round. Five

apiece. The final frame. Judd Trump to

break. It looks like a decent break-off.

The fact that Marco is not looking down the red means he can't get to

it. There's the proof. He's snookered on all reds.

Got to be careful you don't overhit it and knock the red on. He's not

hit it, and he may just have left - well, Judd's not even coming down to

have a look. Had he been having a look at that - I would be having a

look at that, I'll be honest with you.

APPLAUSE He's not left a chance of the pot.

First time around - that would have been interesting.

I think Judd can see the red to the left-hand corner. It's his first

opportunity. Not bad, kissing the blue, but that

was the wrong side of it. Great long pot. As Ken was saying, in the final

frames, you're always just hoping you're going to get that one chance,

at least. Yeah, but I like the way he played that. It didn't seem

anything anxious - he stroked it in. As you say, got the kiss on the

blue, which is not ideal, but it could have been a lot worse. Just

got to avoid those baulk colours now in trying to get the cue ball back

to the business end. He could probably play for the red

behind the black here. These are difficult at the best of

times. 5-5. The Masters. Phew... You have to play it.

APPLAUSE That was a good roll-up, but if he

hasn't covered the escape down the right-hand side of the table off one

cushion, I don't think Marco will be leaving anything here.

Looks a pretty straightforward escape.

The only thing is - we've seen it happen a few times today - is that

Marco's played this shot and just overhit it slightly. If you do,

there is a chance you can dislodge a red and put it into a potable

position. If there isn't a gap in between

green and pink - there's a couple of reds in line, directly in line with

the pink and black - if he can't get to them, it's going to need a good

shot to get back to baulk. He might just have the gap to play it. He

has... It's up to Judd to find a path back

to the baulk end now, and it's not a formality.

You don't normally get a cue ball cleaned to play a safety. What do

you think, Stephen? Red on the left-hand side of the table? Deep

screw back to the baulk end? He's winding his arm up there, so I think

something's going to happen here. You've got to hit these type of

shots. They've got to be very close to the pocket to get the correct

reaction. Wherever it is - deep sco - hold onto your hats.

justified, because this red will pot to the right middle. OK, he's not

going to be certain where the cue ball's going to finish, so you

always say in this situation, just concentrate fully on the pot and

just hope you have a bit of luck with position. He's got to play the

pot - there's no alternative. Oose I say, where the cue ball finishes,

nobody knows. At least if you pot the red, you get to play the next

shot. You never know what's around the

corner! APPLAUSE

He has developed the black, but there's a little bit of pressure on

this one. Close to the cushion, three-quarter ball. Good cuing

needed. I don't think it's an automatic roll-in and you'll finish

up on a red. You don't want to do a lot with the cue ball. Just make

certain you pot the red and see what happens. It couldn't have worked out

much better. Just like that cue ball, to be a little bit further

away from the cushion. In fact, maybe he's not that good on the

black - he's eyeing up the yellow! Surely not. I can't believe the

yellow's a shot. Taking too long on it, for me. Yep.

As I say, if that cue ball was, say, six inches away from the cushion,

he'd feel as though he'd pot the black no problem and could manoeuvre

the cue ball. He feels as though he's got to roll the black in, and

he doesn't feel as though he's automatically going to be on a red.

He has to be in the red to the left of the pink to the left centre, by

dropping the black in that. I don't see any problem with that. That's

playing it dead weight, isn't it, Stephen? Maybe he just doesn't fancy

rolling one in dead weight at this stage of the match. But you've got

to hold your nerve. CROWD GROANS

Took too long on that, for me. As soon as he potted the red and saw

the black, he should have just been down.

That was a great chance. Now this one falls to Marco Fu. Tricky red to

start with, though. APPLAUSE

Well, stroked it in. Didn't have to do much with the cue ball.

Automatically going to be on the black. This is his chance. Nothing

Judd Trump can do now. If this were in the middle of the

match, you'd say it was virtually a certainty as a frame-winning chance.

Obviously the massive pressure out there changes that, but it doesn't

have a lot to do with the cue ball at all.

He's looking at the scoreboard - I think that's just to give him a bit

of thought time. May not have been ideal on the

black, but the most important thing was to pot it.

CROWD GROANS that used all the pocket, didn't it!

But in it went. Looked a little bit wide.

50 points the lead now. Red and a colour for a place in the second

round. This match has toed and froed, but it looks like it's going

the way of Marco Fu. APPLAUSE

This black will come in 58 points -- put him 58 points in front with just

51 remaining, and another false dawn for Judd Trump. Just can't get the

results at the moment for one reason or another.

APPLAUSE Just doesn't have the consistent

anonymous that's required. He's too hot and cold. But every credit to

Marco Fu - he's stuck at his task and, even when he went behind, he

never lost his cool. His long potting is starting to improve. He's

taken things really well with all the pressure that's on. He's made

light of them. At the point now where Judd Trump

will not bother coming back to the table. He'll be a handshake, and a

great disappointment from Judd Trump. But that snooker -- that's

snooker - there can only be one winner. Judd Trump leaves the arena

very disappointed. Marco Fu will be over the moon. He's produced when it

mattered, and he runs out, and he's got a place in the second round with

a 6-5 victory. Well played. Yet another early exit for the

Judder-naut, Judd Trump. Marco Fu held his nerve in the final-frame

decider to go through to the quarterfinals. Much more from day
