Evening. Welcome to Match of the Day 2.

Plenty to get through tonight in the company of Jason Roberts

and Kevin Kilbane. All of yesterday's action

and 2 Good, 2 Bad later but a lot of West Brom fans weren't happy

they were on last, last Sunday. So tonight they are on first

and the match with Burnley has plenty of history.

The lad from Best brom, the feeling of glory. Burnley, are on top of the

COMMENTATOR: Blake, oak, what a goal. West Bromwich Albion ahead.

Another, 0-0 draw. They need more than that. West Brom get their first

win of the season. It is a year since West Brom won

back-to-back Premier League matches but Alan Irvine's time would inject

further optimism into the West Midlands' air if they can do that

away while Burnley would welcome that elusive first win back in the

Premier League. A home debut for Joleon Lescott and

another start for last weekend's match-winner, James Morrison. Three

changes for Burnley, they are already without first-choice

strikers, Ings and Vokes. In come Wallace, Kightly and for a

full debut, Steven Reid, against the club he only left in the summer.

scored in the week to take his total for the season it three. Dragged

Burnley broken down by a set play. A little jump for joy from Allen

Irvine. He knew patience would be the key and after half an hour, West

Bromwich al-Ben have the break through. West Brom 1 shall Burnley

equally good save. Well Dorrans picked it up from the half way line.

A great move. A good, strong hand from Heaton in the Burnley goal.

first half. Morrison whips it in. And West Brom have doubled their

double your advantage. Berahino, who scored his first Premier League goal

a year ago today, in a 2-1 win at Old Trafford against Manchester

United, gets his third league goal of this season, to make it West Brom

2, Burnley 0. Dorrans once more. Pocognoli seeing

a lot of the ball down the left. Sessegnon, blocked by Mee and then

Morrison. Got right underneath it. Good work again from West Bromwich

Albion. Again down the left-hand side with the Belgium international,

Pocognoli. This was a very important block from Ben Mee to deny

Sessegnon. Back-to-back league wins would be most welcome, particularly

as Liverpool and Manchester United are West Bromwich Albion's next two

opponents. Burnley just unable to have any period of sustained

pressure and possession and they are in trouble again here. Berahino. His

second. West Bromwich Albion's third. And surely there is no way

back for Burnley now. West Bromwich Albion's dominance now reflected in

the scoreline. Look at the run here. He had three Burnley players around

him. He timed it to perfection. A smart finish as well, 11 minutes

into the second half. Into the bottom corner and he puts his team

in a commanding position. West Bromwich Albion 3, Burnley 0.

What a save from Foster. Well, the first attempt on target from Burnley

has taken 65 minutes and Ben Foster equal to it. Just watch Jutkiewicz

here. The first time he has beaten Dawson in the air all day but the

reflexes of Ben Foster were able to keep it out. He looks to keep his

third clean sheet of the season. Sordell onside. Barnes wants it.

Barnes has got it. He can't convert it. The way this game has gone, that

was a big chance for Burnley. He will be bitterly disappointed,

Ashley Barnes. So will he. Morrison on the move.

Oh, cleverly done. A crossing opportunity now for Dorrans. He has

all the time to assess the situation. It is still with Dorrans.

He is going to walk his way through - Dorrans. Goodness me. That would

have been a hard one for Burnley to swallow. No challenge whatsoever on

Dorrans. And in the end he couldn't find the target. Mee almost pulled

him back as well. The last minute of the 90.

And the most comfortable afternoon of the season so far for West

Bromwich Albion. One of the more uncomfortable for Burnley and it

could get worse. Dorrans! He has got worse. It's four for West Brom. As

Graham Dorrans opens his account for the new season and seals

back-to-back league victories in spectacular style. The substitute

Gamboa involved. A lovely layback. And another clinical finish, this

time from the Scottish international and Burnley, who had conceded four

all season before today, have conceded four at the Hawthorns. And

have been well, well beaten. West Brom 4, Burnley 0.

What does it do for self-belief? A lot and gives the lads a reward for

the way they have been working. They have been terrific. Once again,

there were no individual errors, which were the things than were

costing us goals before. So, it was a terrific performance all round.

And when he was called upon, Ben Foster made a big save. The biggest

learning curve is you cannot turn up in the Premier League and not be

right on top of your performance. We know that. We are not a strong

enough group in this division. We haven't got a experience level in

this division. We are division. We are growing into it but it is

important we turn up ready to perform. And today there was no sign

for that even from early doors. We didn't look right but credit to West

Brom. They were by far the better team team and deserved their win. A

year ago to the day you scored your first Premier League goal at

Manchester United. How different are you? I have learned a lot. I have

had my ups and downs. It has made me who I am now. I have become a

stronger player. I know how to cope with certain situations. So, it came

out good at the end. I'm just pleased with myself.

STUDIO: He was refreshingly honest, Sean Dyche and giving West Brom

credit. Alan Irvine said they worked hard on how to break down what up

until today had been a mean Burnley defence I think in the first half

they defended well but it was set plays that cost them today. You were

looking at it overall, they were quite concept. Look at the goal,

Jason Shackell and Craig Dawson, as soon as Dawson spins off the back of

him, he is lost, out of position. Tom Heaton gets involved, on

Berahino, I don't think he needs to do that and Dawson has the run on

Shackell and a unward header. If it was defending in the first goal, the

second one, good play. Dorrans makes a fantastic run past the first post.

This is the bit I really like. Liikanen. What Berahino's movement,

he -- I really like. Watch Berahino's movement. He goes

into the position. Just with two or three steps backwards. Drifting off

into space. Everyone gets attracted to the bau. As he drifts off the

space always balls coming through. Four or five goals a season you will

get from there. Look at his stats. If he played for

one of the so-called big boys, people would be raving about him. We

should be more excited. He is 21, we see his record. He was excellent

today, his movement, the way he went about the game, he is showing more

maturity. His hold-up play is not his best side, so he uses his pace.

He can get shots off by himself, he is not scared to work back when he

needs to. When he passes the ball off, he wants to make another run

behind, using his pace, knowing he can cause people problems. He knows

what he wants to do, making the move behind. The music -- he knows what

he wants them to do, and readjusts. He is being intelligent with his

movement. This is what I like, he thinks he will go offside, he bends

his run, and his finish is excellent. This is the finish, head

down, he does not do anything fancy. He makes sure he hits the target. I

think this one makes the goal for Graham Dorrans. The only criticism,

he should have tried to make the hat-trick! You would have done

that! I would have run off like it was the goal of the season! He is

trying to hold it up, so he has to work on the? Yes, but he recognises

what his strengths are. With a goal-scoring record like that, we

should be more excited. And with a record like only's, would you worry

-- Burnley's? They have not scored since Scott Arfield scored against

Chelsea. They were quite settled in open play. I do not think West Brom

caused them to many problems, they did not get behind them in the first

half, Jason Shackell and Michael Duff marshalled the defence. With a

tight? Yes, in open play, but the set plays cost them. Defending the

width of the six yard box. Kieran Trippier was key for them last year.

Because of his attacking aspect. This season, he has had to talk in

alongside. All they get, they kept forcing West Brom wide, and when

they put the ball into the box, they had bodies back. All ten outfield

players back in their own third. But the problem was, when they cleared,

the IS Lukas Jutkiewicz hitting back into position, but as soon as the

ball is cleared, they have no clear options up front. Somebody to hold

onto the ball to allow the midfield to support. Today, it was a

containment job, they wanted to contain West ROM, but the set plays

but their hard work out of the window. It might sound daft about a

right back, but do they have to cut Kieran Trippier loose and say it is

not all about defending, or is that too risky? I was thus appointed

about their lack of ambition, three goalless draws coming into the game,

that will not be enough. I can see Lukas Jutkiewicz's frustration. When

he tucks into his own half, do you think it is under instruction from

the manager, or do you think that is him doing that because he thinks his

team-mates need help? They know they need to be solid. They have scored

one goal all season, but will not be good enough. You have to get better

balls into the striker, you cannot allow him to be cut adrift like he

was all game, they have to show more ambition. These are the games they

should be targeting. From a West one point of view, they have had a good

week, and they needed it. A bigwig for them, beating Spurs last week,

Alan Irving deserves credit. Onto yesterday, and there were two

huge games with local pride at stake, so in keeping with Kevin's

status as the Anneka Rice of the BBC football team, we set him a

challenge, go to both games. This Saturday, fans are preparing

for a different type of fixture. I have played in derbies, I know what

it means to win and lose these fixtures. Today, I have been set the

challenge, two derbies in a day. Let's see what the fans think. It is

a game you do not want to lose. I am nervous, it is as hyped as it gets.

I could not sleep, I found it hard to it my breakfast, and once you are

inside the ground, it gets better. Liverpool are so obsessed with

football, everybody is talking about the game, the Derby runs it up. You

want to get a good victory, but that does not happen very often. Going to

work on Saturday will be sweeter if we get a good result. You have the

bragging rights for the next six months. Ten years ago, I got my

photo taken with this man. Can we recreated? You have got Champions

League football coming, where just this match figure? The Derby is

every year, we are always in the top division, we are competing with them

for league positions. I would rather win this and get beaten by Real

Madrid! I do not work with any Real Madrid funds!

A game that can spark a season into life, how they need that, with three

league victories between them so far. Was he brought down? The

referee does not think so. He is struggling. I think it was just

outside. It finished inside the penalty area. What a tackle that

is. There has been a genuine claim at

each end already. It is goalless at the break.

That will be a free kick for the Liverpool man. It is in! It is

brilliant. There was too much on it for Tim Howard. Anfield erupts.

Steven Gerrard scores for the 10th time against Everton. Tim Howard did

not get across. As we move into the 90th minute.

That is amazing! Phil Jagielka nearly take the net off! And

unlikely scorer of a quite fabulous goal. In injury time, Everton are

level at Liverpool. What a strike from the captain! 1-1.

That is the first Derby of the day, we are heading to lime Street

station, where we begin the second half of our journey. The local boy

did good, Steven Gerrard scoring the goal. You will not see many better

Merseyside goals than Phil Jagielka's equaliser. This is the

most important part of the journey, we had to make this train, we could

not be late. We are now looking forward to the North London derby.

This was the time I'd used to hate, you just want the referee to

started. I have got a bit of time, I can have a look at the website and

see how Preston are getting on against Coventry. We have arrived

here at Euston, we are strapped for time, so we need to get the cheap.

The goalkeeper had to react smartly. It is goalless at half-time.

Spurs lead. Arsenal have gifted it to them. A risky ball, when he had a

Arsenal have had a dozen efforts, but they have not been able to beat

Arsenal deservedly level. He sliced his clearance back into the danger

area. Suddenly, the gap was on the edge of the penalty area. Alex

A good game. Tottenham may be deserved a point. Disappointing not

to hold on, but I think we are happier with that than they will be.

We dislike them very much. The rivalry goes back many years. If you

can win here, you base your season on that. You can remember it for

years to come. Arsenal stands for passion, more than any other London

team. After the first goal, we had three or four minutes, and we should

have done it for the rest of the match. We did not go for the

jugular, some people were not at the races today. Two great derbies in a

day. I thought we would have seen a a few more goals, but it was not

meant to be. All of the sides deserve credit, two wonderful

occasions, and now we need to get home. Taxi!

difference between those two? Anfield was a bit louder. I have to

say that. Both two good occasions, don't get me wrong but I think

around that game, at the start of t the roar at the start of that game

was incredible. Did you feel uncomfortable standing outside

Anfield as a former Evertonian. More outside Anfield or on the Tube with

a camera pointed at you. Probably both. But it was uncomfortable that

filming but standing outside the Kop. Who, out of the four teams will

be the most happiest with a point? Everton. Purely because of the

situation? Purely because of the situation and the way they came back

into it, and the fact your centre half strides up and hits a shot that

probably can go anywhere and ends up in the top corner. It feels like a

win when you come back into a game like that. But I thought, those four

sides, on the performances we saw, I don't think any will be challenging

for the title. Arsenal guy said there the team only showed passion

for four or five minutes. Did you sense that? I felt Tottenham were

defensively well-organised. Better than I saw them in a while. They

were organised and difficult to breakdown and breakthrough. I don't

think Arsenal did enough in the last third. They tried to put them under

pressure. He made a couple of decent saves. I wouldn't say we didn't see

passion. I think Oxlade-Chamberlain played well. Others throughout the

side did well. Overall, I think both sides will be happy with a point. I

don't think all four sides did enough to win. On similarities and

differences, you got annoyed yesterday chemical weapons Chadli

was booked for cupping his ear, for that celebration. The daft thing is,

in the Merseyside derby... I was sat in the end he went to. He was

getting unbelievable abecause throughout the game. He turned

around and gave a bit back. It was nothing serious. From you? . He is

getting unbelievable abuse, scores an unbelievable goal against his

rivals, he scores and gets booked. I didn't know you did that for cupping

your ears or telling the crowd to be quite. This is football. You are

allowed to show your passion. Like a lot of us, a red card, too.

Does that guy carry that photo around in the hope. I must admit I

rang him up the night before. Now, on the Kevin Kilbane show, more of

Saturday's action, starting with the champions.

evening Wayne Rooney has said it was probably the right decision, the red

card. I tried to trip him up, he got further away than I thought, that

was why my leg was so straight. I have apologised to my team-mates.

Louis van Gaal said it was a red card. We don't need to discuss the

actual act it se. I'm more interested in what you have made of

his captaincy so far, at Manchester United? Well, the goal scoring, a

wonderful finish, for his goal scoring. He is leading by example by

getting the goals. I think, overall, with Wayne Rooney, he has had a

decent start to the season. I think here is a brilliant finish. You want

that from your captain, your leader. A brilliant goal. On the opening day

of the season. This goal is a wonderful finish. Outstanding

finish. Great movement across the near-post on the half-volley on the

up. An outstanding finish for him to do that. You see this from him time

and time again. I trained with Wayne at Everton. You used to see this

from him every day. He has calmed down a bit now. But you see the

workrate he puts In when you go on the pitch with him, you know he is

going to run about. He has quality. He has always been a leader and been

vocal. He doesn't need the armband, you would have seen this from him

when he was a young man, let alone now. There may be something about

being a striker, a tackler's position. Tackling is not your

strong suit when you are a striker, I can vouch for that. I believe he

was trying to trip him up. It looks terrible. But I believe he is trying

to trip him up and stop an attack. On the running around thing, we are

saying that's leading by example. Have you been on a side where a

captain runs around a lot and thinks - he is leading by example? Without

a doubt. There is an inspirational act. Sometimes a tackle can get you

up for a game. Someone runs across and puts a good tackle in, it can

raise you, the crowd and players. He does that by tackles and by goals

and vokely. I think he has been a leader and has always been a leader.

Maybe it got too much on that occasion and he let himself down. In

answer to that que, it depends on what sorted of player they are.

Sometimes they want to sit in midfield. Other times you might see

a midfielder going around the pitch and making challenges. We have seen

plenty of Premier League captains who aren't afraid to get stuck in

over the years. Do you think if you are a midfielder or a defender, you

can be seen as a hard man, but as a striker, you are seen as

irresponsible He tried to shake him up. The cynical foul. We see

captains time and time again do this. It is what you need to do

sometimes. He is skipping away from John terry. He clips his heels. We

have seen him doing this time and time again over the years. These

guys are leaders because of what they do on the pitch. That can come

away in different ways. You know Vincent Kompany is going to kick you

but when we are talking about Wayne Rooney, we know. And at the time,

Cantona was not the captain. Some of these are horrendous. But in the end

he did. It might have calmed him down. He maybe thought he had to

take extra responsibility. Wayne Rooney has not been sent off since

2009. You have to think he has worked hard on that side of his

game. Strikers' union. Here is the rest of yesterday's

action, starting at Selhurst Park. That has gone in. Campbell has

pushed it in on the line. Crystal Palace have the lead in the early

stages of the second half. Fraser Campbell scored on the road last

week. He scores at home today. Puncheon whipping the free kick into

the box. It is another one for Crystal Palace. They have exploded

out of the dressing room and into a two-goal lead early in the second

to help it on its way. It almost span into the goal. Does anybody

have it within them to find that moment of inspiration to earn

everything because look how close he came to probably giving the three

points to Sunderland -- look at Fletcher.

quality inside a couple of minutes here at St Mary's.

You would like to see more partnerships developing. There was a

time when people would play one up front, but I always preferred

playing in a partnership. I thought we saw the beginnings of a really

good partnership here for Arsenal against Aston Villa, as soon as

Mesut Ozil gets it, Danny Welbeck knows where it will be. It was

fitting. Now, against Spurs, Mesut Ozil went out to the left. They do a

good job here, but I still think there was more chemistry when Mesut

Ozil was playing number ten. They know where they want to be, Danny

Welbeck wants to make the run. You can see it happening. Manchester

United have got free upfront. Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Radamel

Falcao. This is going to be a really good partnership. They are in the

boss, -- in the box, they change positions. Last season, we saw one

of the best partnerships we have had in recent times, Daniel Sturridge

and Luis Suarez. I loved watching them. People said you cannot play

two up front, but what about them? And Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko.

They are a traditional partnership, but it is not necessarily two

strikers, just two players working together regularly. If you talk to

Alan Hansen, he would say that the report would never play for-4-2.

Yes, K Dalglish behind Ian Rush. Kenny Dalglish at Blackburn would

see shadows around him. The kids could not get that. For me, I could

not get my head around that. He was that clever. He would say where

players were. That has been my frustration when people talk about

for-4-2. It has always been 4-5-1 when you do not have the ball.

Hopefully, we will see the return of 4-4-2. It is who you play against.

In Europe, you might need five in midfield. Chelsea still lead the

way. West Brom now in the top half after the victory over Burnley.

Newcastle go to Stoke City tomorrow night.
