We begin at the Emirates Stadium and a meeting of two managers

who maybe have more in common than they would admit.

Arsene created something special at this club. With Guardiola, City are

a team that's very strong. Highbury salute the team of Arsene Wenger. I

had critics when I arrived because I unknown. Barcelona triumph. There is

no way he betrays principles. Arsene Wenger's philosophy was to attack.

I'm a big fan of the way we play. Manchester City seem to be morphing

into Pep Guardiola's Barcelona. I'm obsessive with the way I believe the

team have to play. He change the dynamics of English football. Is not

about buying a player for X amount of money. Guardiola starts with a

massive call. Plenty going on in that mind. Sometimes when I have

doubts, especially when we lose, you have to do more to believe. Do I

stay two months or two years? My commitment will be exactly the same.

COMMENTATOR: Retirement is dead set Arsene Wenger this week, but the

current stasis at the Emirates feels like a suspended animation.

Chelsea's unexpected defeat might have injected a small spark of life

into Manchester City's title hopes, particularly as they go to Stamford

Bridge on Wednesday, but what or who can shake Arsenal from their sleep

walk down the Premier League table? Sanchez and Ozil both start of

Arsene Wenger in an Arsenal side missing Aaron Ramsey and

Oxlade-Chamberlain, who both have minor muscle injuries. Francis

Coquelin comes in and David Ospina starts his first Premier League game

of the season with Petr Cech injured. City make one change with

Yaya Toure dropping to the bench and Jesus Navas coming to the side

nominally containing seven forward players, but the Spaniard starts at

right back. Sterling racing clear. The

deflection, the ricochet... City looking dangerous in these early

moments with the pace and incision from midfield. This is a Super Bowl

from Fernandinho. The pace of Raheem Sterling. David Ospina got there. --

super ball. Otamendi... And that's ricochet

almost ended up flying into the and Chester city net. If this had been

on target, it would have taken the summer saving. Danny Welbeck with

Otamendi, and then the cannon from Clichy back into the Arsenal

striker. Nearly went into the corner pocket. Now Leroy Sane running in

behind. Sane 's goal side of Bellerin, and puts Manchester City

in front. Leroy Sane outpaced Bellerin and that is no easy task.

Leroy Sane puts Manchester City in front in what has been a very, very

open first five minutes. Arsenal are behind again. Leroy Sane in the

goals again. Just about pace. There aren't many players Hector Bellerin

can't live with, but Leroy Sane got away from him and kept his cool. A

very good finish. High quality goal from Leroy Sane, who is in great

form at the moment. Arsenal sliced open at the back, not for the first

time, even in these early stages. That was a painful one, Navas on

Monreal. Referee Andre Marriner wants to speak to Jesus Navas here.

The card is coming out. Early yellow card for Navas. He's gone right over

the top of the ball and into Monreal. Certainly deserving of the

yellow card. Not many people would play Jesus Navas as a right back.

Not many people would play seven forward is away at Arsenal. Monreal

can't quite claim that. It's Sterling for Manchester City. He

does well. Running into Granit Xhaka. Fernandinho finds David

Silva. Back to De Bruyne. It hits the post. That is still David Silva.

David Ospina with the save. Still with David Silva and now Coquelin

should tidy up for Arsenal who are lucky it's not two. Sanchez runs

into Navas. David Ospina claims it. It could have been worse for

Arsenal, Kevin De Bruyne against the base of the post and David Ospina

recovered to deny David Silva. It's an almost insanely opening game of

football at the moment. Sanchez runs into Silva.

David Silva crunched, Coquelin certainly slid into him. He's been

shown the yellow card even though the contact was minimal. Clever from

Sanchez. Ozil on the turn. Not quite the finish, Willy Caballero falls on

it. Not unduly troubled by the German's shot. Mesut Ozil had to dig

it out but couldn't get any real power. Walcott catches Fernandinho,

the referee lets it go and Walcott can't thread it through to Welbeck.

It was a strident challenge for sure from Walcott, but nothing wrong with

it in the opinion of the referee. Pool -- oh dear. I think Fernandinho

did him a favour by not making a meal of it. Monreal with plenty of

red and white. Sanchez... Fernandinho got the ball. Arsenal

howl for a penalty and get nothing. To be fair, not too many complaints

from Alexis Sanchez. The howls from the crowd for Fernandinho's

challenge, just in the nick of time. Sanchez. Not far wide from Alexis

Sanchez. He only had eyes for this. Got the curl and dip, but not quite

enough curl. Supervision from Sanchez. Well cut

out by Fernandinho. The Brazilian is having a good game.

Corner kick is deflected. Otamendi with the clearance. Mustafi back in.

Walcott, the flag stays down and Walcott scores for Arsenal.

Manchester City protest, but Theo Walcott celebrates and it's all

square. They turn and face the referee's assistant in vain,

Manchester City. Caught a little by the corner, and never quite

recovered. Back in by Mustafi and you can see that he's clearly

onside. Gael Clichy playing Theo Walcott on the side. He brought it

down well and stabbed it into the corner. Arsenal 1-1 Manchester City.

De Bruyne, don't know if he meant that but it came. Could pull it back

to Aguero. It came off Koscielny and onto the post. Luck didn't favour

him in the end. Luck helped get him there and it went against him at the

last the brunette again. -- at the last. De Bruyne again. Sergio

Aguero, and it 2-1 to Manchester City. Having worked so hard to get

back into the game, Arsenal are behind again. Manchester City are

back in front. Sergio Aguero. Arsenal's frailties laid bare here.

Too much space. Koscielny to the rescue wants. But no rescue, no

salvation, once it fell to the right boot of Sergio Aguero. Great

response from Manchester City. They are back in front at Arsenal. 26

goals in all competitions now, Sergio Aguero.

Sanchez did brilliantly. Theo Walcott! So close. He loves scoring

against Manchester City, he has got four in his last four games against

them before today. Has already added to that and nearly got another.

Laurent Koscielny off with what the Arsenal dressing room tell us is an

Achilles injury. Arsenal fans know the last two times he has left the

game early, Arsenal have lost each 5-1. Bayern Munich away and then at

home. Great ball in and Aguero heads it wide. Brilliant ball in by Jesus

Navas for Sergio Aguero. This is a treat, this ball.

Sanchez into Monreal. He has time to pick the cross. It's well headed

behind by Otamendi. He dealt with that well. Good ball in from

Monreal. It's a tester for Otamendi. Arsenal corner. It's clips, the

corner is headed in by Mustafi. It's 2-2. The goal is surprisingly simple

in its creation. It sees Arsenal level again. Ozil's corner.

Mustafi's header. 2-2. Manchester City will be very disappointed with

their defending here. Top teams don't tend to concede goals that

easily. Which way is this game going now?

Sane finds Aguero and there is danger opening up. Aguero couldn't

find a way to feed Kevin De Bruyne. Navas in a good position. Aguero and

De Bruyne in the box. Yaya Toure was there as well but Gabriel is in the

right place for Arsenal. De Bruyne. Fernandinho! Well hit and

well saved. Leroy Sane back in. Otamendi is the threat and David

Ospina is fouled. He is going to make sure everybody knows it.

Fernandinho had an outstanding first half. Nearly put City back in front.

It's a good save. The point probably suits neither.

Leroy Sane runs at Bellerin. Good feet from Sane. Excellent stuff.

Bellerin stuck to it. Corner. He's had his hands full today. David

Silva, the star who never seems to Wayne goes over to take this

Manchester City corner to a great ovation from their travelling fans.

Jesus Navas clips it in. That's dangerous. David Ospina was there.

Aguero should have scored. It was on target but not enough power to beat

David Ospina. Manchester City really need to win this one. If they don't

win this one, they really, really need to win their next one.

Four forward here. Coquelin has already had a yellow card, don't

forget. There were four Manchester City players breaking here and

Coquelin knew he had to do something about it. I'm not at all surprised

to see De Bruyne howling at the referee. Nobody particularly likes

to see one player calling for another player to be sent off.

Jesus Navas. Monreal. They are appealing for handball. And that did

look suspicious but it will not be given. Could Manchester City have

had a penalty? Monreal turning, no deliberate intent from that and only

the faintest of glancing touches. There was a big appeal for handball.

At the end of the game there was a big incident when it looked like

Monreal heart may handled the ball and you clearly had something to say

to the referee? I know what Monreal said so I trust him, I want to

congratulate his performance as a full-back, he was outstanding. He

has good offensive and defensive. Add the action, the referee knows my

opinion. We had one or two opportunities to win the game and in

the end, I think the draw is at least the needed thing for us today,

even if it is not enough mathematically but psychologically

and mentally it was important not to lose. Do you feel you could still

catch Chelsea? It is very difficult because losing yesterday, it was

very important for us to win the game and get three points and we

only have one but we have to carry on and on Wednesday this is an

important game against Chelsea and we can win it and get another three

points. We dropped two. That is something we're going to have to

build on in the next game. On BBC Radio this morning Bob Wilson gave a

very passionate interview in your favour but he did also say that he

feels the uncertainty about your future is becoming a negative and

perhaps a distraction. I hope not. I am professional and I always say

that no matter if I stay two months or ten years, I have shown in the

past great loyalty. I am always committed, I love this club and I do

not know how long I will be here but as long as I am here I will give it

my best. The decision is still some but not like why? I am clear in my

head and that is most important and after that, it will be soon, don't

worry. As far as the game itself, it was enjoyable but not of the highest

quality? If you needed any evidence as to why these teams will not win

the Premier League this season, it was evident today. Certainly

defensively from both teams it was poor, giving silly goals away, City

holding the lead twice and giving it away and was there for to see.

Positives for both? Positive for Arsenal, they did not win but only

one in six in the league they needed something to build on for the

confidence. They just needed to start getting something, to build on

and get confidence going into the squad. OK. As far as incidents in

the match, did Arsenal play into the hands of the City? Earlier on,

certainly, under the cosh, Arsenal being hammered from everyone, I

would expect them to go into that game and say, the first 20 minutes,

play ourselves into this, no silly errors, and build ourselves into the

game. They were so open it was unbelievable for the first 20

minutes. They were given a warning after three minutes. They lose the

ball, no protection at all in front of the back four and that simple

pass through to Stirling, Monreal is on the wrong side, should be inside,

decent ball, and the gap is huge, the space is huge, that was after

three minutes. This is from a goal kick. Three on three at the back,

long ball, Jack has gone to put pressure on De Bruyne and no

protection at all. The centre half is against Aguero, he goes up to win

that. Look what happens. Unbelievable ball from De Bruyne.

The pace of that pass is incredible, Bellerin is on the wrong side of

Sane, straight ball through the middle, goal. They had the warning.

They did not learn and they were punished. It just kept happening in

the first 15 or 20 minutes, with one pass through the middle. They gave

the ball away again. Straight ball through. And there into the back

four again and this is unacceptable. I accept that giving the ball away

is part of the game, give it away once, twice, but not the lack of

reaction and work and effort and determination to get back in from

Ozil. Jogging past three players, De Bruyne. That was too easy. Aguero,

this is 1.5 minutes after getting back into the game. That is one of

the holding midfield players. Watch him. Silva, Aguero, at some stage,

he has to say, I will get in there, look at him, his reaction, there is

no reaction. Holding the midfielder. Look at that. They have a right to

be angry because that is too easy for City to get through. Alan

mentioned it was 1.5 minutes after they equalised and in the office you

said that in games when you are struggling and I know it is always

easy to go back to the past but from your experience, in games when

Arsenal were struggling and you got back, you would have a defence with

a midfield giving instructions for the people in front to drop in and

be patient. Tony Adams would tell us to pull back, Nigel Winter Vernon

would pull back, everybody would have to be pulled back, just to calm

things down and gets solid. Give yourself a platform. Make it hard to

break through, three minutes of that and you get back in but Arsenal were

just wide open. I wanted to give back to the first goal. Several

pundits this season are talking about how great it is, those high

winners and wide winners when the goalkeeper has the ball. That is

what they do. Do you give them credit? Yes but Mustafi must scream

at Xhaka, get back. Give us some protection. Then Xhaka can tell

Danny Welbeck. And Otamendi on the touchline and then there is

protection in front of that back four, the centre half may not have

to win that but they are all over the place, you cannot have the ball

like that, good as it is from De Bruyne, through the middle and you

are 1-0 down. The position of Otamendi by that penalty area? You

must get the centre has screaming and shouting at the midfielder and

the midfielder screaming at the forwards, give us 15 yards, some

protection. They will under huge pressure straightaway. Even with

Otamendi, so far down the pitch, if Danny Welbeck pushes back and Xhaka,

Otamendi is not a problem. As far as the Arsenal goals were concerned,

City defensively is what you have both looked at. The first goal could

not be avoided, Vincent Kompany on the bench, he could be in there.

That space bothers me. There was too much space. Otamendi, look at how

many players are around him, Fernandinho could say, take time,

that was a poor header. Mustafi heading that back in and Walcott has

been kept onside by Gael Clichy. He gets the go. What is interesting,

watch the reaction from the Arsenal players when they score. Their

spirit is so low. Yes, I've scored... Well done. Nice one. How

can you get the fans going? It was a very odd celebration. Very strange.

OK, we have scored... They have to get into this. Officials get

criticised and the assistant referee should be praised for getting that

spot on and the second goal? Another set piece, Arsenal did to City what

West Brom did it Arsenal weeks ago. Marking along the six yard line and

Mustafi has to run and Otamendi, Assen as he has that, paintball in,

great determination and a brilliant header from Mustafi but once you

have that run and the boys don't get the line on the ball and attack

that, you will be punished. We have criticised Arsenal weeks ago against

West Brom and City have done the same. Vincent Kompany on the bench,

he is fit, I believe those goals, with more organisation, I do not

think they would get conceded with Vincent Kompany. Because of the

organisation? And the experience and I just think that they're not going

to concede with Vincent Kompany. What is happening? Still a great

header. Brilliant. Pep Guardiola unhappy at the end with that penalty

decision. Would you give that? At the pace of the game I can

understand why the referee has not given out. But in slow motion I do

think that is a penalty but I understand why. He is going to

control that. It is not deliberate. His arm has stopped him from

controlling it. That is why they might say it should be a penalty,

just delighted he did not give that! And his little demonstration implies

he did not know where his arm was. Swansea v Middlesborough to come

after your chance to vote Redmond. Tadic, pulling that back.

Redmond! Beautiful goal! Lovely turn. Great awareness from Tadic and

a superb finish. Possession for Nestor. Mahrez... And still...

Trying to work the space. Mahrez! He is back at the forefront of

Leicester City's attack. Look how hard he worked that opportunity and

it was his right foot that finally finished it off!

Cannot get past Townsend. His chance to break away, he has done really

well. Benteke getting onto it, Townsend might take this all the way

for Crystal Palace. Andros Townsend! Sensational goal! Brilliant play

from Andros Townsend! From one penalty area to the other, 2-0!

Brilliant block. Wijnaldum on the counter. Origi looking at Wijnaldum

through the middle. This is to finish it! That finishes it! Origi

adjudged to be just onside, timing his run, into the middle and a big

One team a place above the relegation zone

Paul Clements has led Swansea to the first ever league win at Anfield.

Huge three points in this battle for survival.

Paul Clement's arrival at Swansea seemed to turn their fortunes,

What a finish that is! left them looking over

Middlesbrough's last league win came against Swansea but that was three

Aitor Karanka has lost his job, Steve Agnew's in temporary charge

and Jonathan Woodgate is back as Boro's new first team coach.

At the Liberty Stadium, Alastair Mann.

It's a meeting of the Premier League's leakiest 's defence and the

division's least prolific attack. Will a new management team give

Middlesbrough players greater freedom to improve on their paltry

total of 20 goals in what seems a pivotal relegation tussle? That

porous Swansea rearguard is boosted by the return of its first choice

full-backs as Kyle Naughton and Martin Olsson have both shaken off

injuries. That is offset by a calf problem for Fernando Llorente. The

Swans top scorer is an untimely absentee. Just one change in Steve

Agnew's second team selection. It's a preference with a Adama Traore

replacing Grant Leadbitter. It replaces positivity with both feet,

Gaston Ramirez and Stewart Downing all deployed to provide Negredo with

more opportunities. He scored twice in Boro's last league win, way back

in December, ironically against the Swans.

Everything suggests this could be a significant afternoon. They Swansea

victory and the gap to Middlesbrough widens to eight points, and an away

win and it's down to just two. Leroy Fer, deployed at right back in the

last match. Back in more familiar territory. Martin Olsson nips round

the back and his bending shot eludes the post by a couple of feet, maybe.

Gritting his teeth, suggesting he was mighty close to getting his

third Premier League goal. Proved useful since his acquisition in

January. As gathered 15 games from his last ten games since being

appointed. But only six points from his last six games. -- has gathered

15 points. Martin Olsson on the shoulder trying

to offer an option as Ayew goes for glory and it's parried away by

Victor Valdes. In the end you always felt Valdes would save it, but it

was on target. The accusation that has been laid on Middlesbrough this

season is that although they have been excellent defensively, they

haven't committed enough going forward. They never seem to have

enough players in an attacking area of the field. You get the sense

today that Steve Agnew is trying to rectify that. Lovely from Ramirez.

Negredo, blocked by Alfie Mawson. Claims of handball. Visiting

Middlesbrough fans behind the goal had a good view of it. Very decisive

call from the referee that it wasn't a handball.

Negredo leaves it, Downing hits it and Kyle Naughton blocks it. Adam

Clayton on the volley and it ends up among the Middlesbrough supporters,

who are encouraged by the opening 13 minutes. Steve Agnew's new look

Middlesbrough, and the hit from Downing striking Naughton and

Clayton was a few feet over the bar. This was the claim for handball. I

don't think you can give that. He did strike the arm, but it was close

to his body and he could never have got it out of the way.

It's a perfectly legitimate call from Bobby Madley to wave play on.

Swansea's Premier League games this season, they have seen 99 goals are

scored. In marked contrast to Middlesbrough. Their matches have

only seen 53. We haven't seen any so far. Tom Carroll hits it well! Side

netting. Plenty on -- plenty in the ground thought it had gone in. It

stays 0-0. You would imagine there would be more intensity in the

second 45 minutes. That said, both sides can ill afford to lose this

game. Perhaps the fear of that has played its part in the fixture so

far. Good effort from Traore. It whistled

by. He was trying to drill it into the far corner. Fabianski was at

full extension. But it went wide of his palm and the post. Traore takes

on Mawson for pace. Gets beyond him and is fouled. The yellow card will

be coming but the referee says play on. Traore picks himself on.

Delivers. Negredo. Good save from Fabianski. Good refereeing, allowing

Traore to get beyond Mawson. I suspect Mawson will probably be

yellow carded. Traore went on and in the end Negredo almost got on the

end of it. The cross was a decent one, and then Clayton and then

Negredo almost grabbed Middlesbrough the lead. Steve Agnew looking on.

His second game since Aitor Karanka was sacked.

Nice dummy from Sigurdsson. Nice exchange of feet and good effort!

Great save from Valdes. Best moment of the match by a mile. Sigurdsson

inevitably involved. Valdes with the parry out of harms way.

Downing rolls it out of play. This was Sigurdsson at his finest. One of

the most coveted players anywhere in the Premier League. And for this

very reason. Valdes reacted well. Leaves Paul Clement with his head in

his hands. The potential for a thunderous

relegation tussle, but it's yet to materialise. Free kick, foul by De

Roon right on the edge of the D. A big call from Bobby Madley. Looked

as though the danger had passed, but the foul by De Roon. In fact, it's a

pull-back by Bernardo Espinosa on Ayew. That's what the free kick is

for. Almost an expectant hush around the Liberty Stadium. Middlesbrough

supporters behind the goal can barely watch. Five minutes to go.

Sigurdsson has this opportunity to surely win the game for Swansea.

It's on target... No, it's not. Took a little flick on the way through,

and that took it wide. It just brushes off the end of Forshaw, I

think. It goes out for a corner. Sigurdsson didn't get it wrong.

Still not over. Noises from the Swansea supporters. Look at Forshaw.

Does it brush his fingers? The chase is on here. Narsingh. He's

gone too wide. Not over yet. Carroll. Headed clear by Forshaw.

Jack Cork. Leroy Fer! He scoops it over. Must have taken a nick on the

way through. Swansea thought he'd won it. The corner count for Swansea

now into double figures. Valdes just about gets to it. He was fouled. How

close did Leroy Fer come to scoring the winning goal?

Not a bad ball from Negredo. Gestede! He should have scored,

shouldn't he? He should have won the game. Negredo's ball in with the

outside of his boot. Gestede simply had to put this in, but he didn't.

Middlesbrough will reflect on three points that should have been

claimed. I think the last thing you see is the first thing you remember.

It's a great pass from Alvaro, and you would expect Rudy to hit the

target. He is disappointed, as we all are. But his movement was

terrific and I'm sure the next one comes along he will convert. Any

points you get are valuable but we are disappointed we haven't won the

game. That was the objective. We think we created enough

opportunities to win that. Had a big chance at the end which I think

would have been very harsh. The fact is they didn't have any attempts on

target the whole game. And we created quite a lot. We just didn't

have the final product today. What's evident is that the team spirit and

togetherness of the group and the work are prepared to do for each

other, and that's really, really pleasing. One win turns the season.

And I'm more than confident, and so are the players, that that win is

very close. STUDIO: When we watched Arsenal, you didn't doubt the

quality but criticised the effort. And now... LAUGHTER

You don't doubt Middlesbrough's effort, but because you're never

happy! You're going to criticise the quality. There is no lack of effort

or passion or commitment from it was breath. When I watched them against

Man United a couple of weeks ago, I criticised them for playing

everything in front and nothing behind. Today he played Negredo,

Traore and Ramirez. He went for it, changed it. Didn't manage to get

players forward in the box, but just a lack of quality. When you work so

hard to get into positions like this. That's the business end of the

pitch, that's what counts. Another one with bodies forward, but it's a

poor ball. Decent play from Negredo. There is ever so well. Two against

two. It requires a good ball into the box, good movement, but it was

lacking, and that's what Middlesbrough have been lacking the

vast majority of the season. He brought Gestede on. And that's

totally different from against United. He has tried to change it.

Good linkup play between the forwards but it doesn't work. This

is the pass of the weekend from Negredo. The month! Outside of the

left foot. What a ball that is in the last minute of the game to win

it, and it's an absolute sitter. We talk about equality, when you get

chances like that you have to put them in. You were saying because of

the spin of the ball, all you do is... Headed back where it's coming

from. The manager said he will take the next on but the next one won't

be as easy. Hopefully he does take it but that's was on a believable

chance. Swansea put in 31 crosses from open play today, their

second-highest total of the season, but the problem was they didn't have

their usual man to get on the end of it. Paul Clement said he was a big

miss. This was against Burnley earlier in the season when he got

two goals. Doesn't do much with his movement because the ball is

fantastic, but when you have a player like that you just put it in

there. For me, Narsingh and Fabio, that's a mismatch. Narsingh has to

get closer to Fabio and clatter him. Llorente would have eaten that up.

Somebody has to be getting in there to attack that. Nobody attacking the

space. This is another great cross. Ayew has to do more. It's another

good cross. That's perfect for somebody breaking in there. Watching

Ayew come there's no real determination to get in there and

get something on it. I thought the balls from Swansea were good, but I

don't think they had enough people going on the end of them. Is it

difficult to adapt quickly, especially on the back of an

international break and you lose your player who is going to get on

the end of those? You can see that they are still trying to work on

that. They are still putting the ball into places where he would have

been. I think if he was playing they would have won today.

We'll discuss where it leaves the relegation battle after we've

seen part one of yesterday's action, staring with a huge win

COMMENTATOR: Fabregas with a beautiful diagonal. What a path that
