Is a 97 meeting between Liverpool and Manchester United. In the words

of Jurgen Klopp, it will never be a normal game. -- it's the 197th

meeting. Fernando Torres! Yes! It is game on. Cantona! Brilliant goal!

That is stunning. For 26 years, Liverpool have been an 18 league

titles, United have 20 but none since the end of Alex Ferguson's

reign. Both sets of fans yearn for a return to the summit of English

football and into the mix we throw two of the game's biggest games as

Jurgen Klopp takes on Jose Mourinho at Anfield for the first time. Good

evening. We will also bring you the highlights of Southampton Burnley

and Middlesbrough Watford from yesterday as well as all of

Saturday's goals. But we start at Anfield. Commentary comes from Guy

Mowbray. Anfield is alive with an extra edge of excitement that only

comes with the biggest games. For many on both sides of the rivalry,

this one has always topped all others. Liverpool are missing

Georginio Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana from the start of the Lala Anai is

fit enough to be a substitute. Daniel Sturridge is back in the 11,

two, scoring five in his last eight games against United. They also show

two changes, with Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata benched and replaced by

Ashley Young and Marouane Fellaini. It is the first time Ashley Young

has started a league game since here in January. Wayne Rooney scored

them. He is only back up now. Too much attention has been focused on

the appointment of the referee. Let's hope he has a straightforward

again as possible. It seems highly unlikely. It is a rivalry that has

been going since 1894. And yet that does seem to be a renewed edge to it

tonight. Sturridge manages to keep the ball under control, under

pressure from Smalling. Together in England shirts a week ago. And there

is the first barrel of the night. Rashford was in late. I don't think

Anthony Taylor will mind that one too much. He catches Milner near the

halfway line. No need for bookings at this stage of this sort of game.

Pogba, fouls. United creep ever closer to the Liverpool penalty

area. Ibrahimovic. That went about 20 yards over the crossbar. An early

shot in anger from Ibrahimovic. An early notes to be made for the

manager. Valencia, helped by Fellaini. Rashford, outside to

Milner. Pushed away, safely. And it is becoming far too regular a seat

for him. You can almost see the frustration behind the eyes. His

chance might come at some point. He took the big chance the last time

Manchester United were here in the Premier League.

Anderson. Firmino. And effort on target for Liverpool. An easy as

save as David de Gea will ever have to make. Milner tries to make the

best of that. And he has done because he has a free kick. No

matter work back. -- Milner had to work back. Tick tock, tick tock. You

can see why Joe sold Mourinho was aggrieved by the decision. -- Jose

Mourinho. Ander Herrera has words to say to Phillipe Coutinho. And vice

versa. It has taken half an hour. Every minute he will be thinking,

what would I be doing in this situation? He looks a little

distracted, Sir Alex. Herrera did well to keep it. Valencia likewise.

Rashford has to work. He has done very well in the end.

Ibrahimovic, the squeeze on. And it is wide from Ibrahimovic but the

flag is up. And I think he knew that, hence the casual attempt.

Manchester United will take this as a sign. It has been a little bit of

a surprise that they have not put more all pressure on Marias. Jurgen

Klopp has something formulating in that deep thinking mind. -- pressure

on Karius. Valencia, Rashford, Pogba. Pogba managed to get away

from Henriksen. Ibrahimovic! Nobody else there. The idea must have been

to go for goal. He just got the angles and the connection wrong. It

is his best opportunity of the evening by some distance. He just

gets it wrong when ball said. Three Premier League games without a goal

which by his remarkable standards is something of a drought. He scored

just at the 50 in all competitions for Paris St Germain last term. Emre

Can. Coutinho. Joel Matip, through to Emre Can. He keeps going!

Supersaver from David de Gea. Anderson. -- Henderson. The biggest

test either goalkeeper has faced tonight. Firmino now. Nobody in the

box for Mane. Herrera slides in. David de Gea has had precious little

to do but Emre Can, on-site, it was some neat footwork to get himself in

with a shooting chance. And he thought that he had done it. But he

was down so quickly, and has such a strong hand. Daniel Sturridge, not

his night. There might be an idea there that Emre Can, had he sunk to

his knees rather than shot for goal, well, he would certainly have given

Anthony Taylor a decision to make. Chris Smalling taking a real chance,

grabbing a huge chunk of shirt. Adam Lallana, it is there to be hit but

not like that. It has got the feeling of the game in which

something is going to happen soon. Adam Lallana. Since he came on,

there seems to be better placed to Liverpool's play. Greater belief on

the ball, and they might create something now. Firmino. Milner and

Pogba. It was a dangerous collision between the two. Both down, hurts.

Not the best lay-off for Milner. He was always going to have to work to

get there. Pogba got there just a fraction of a second before him. I

don't think it was a foul either way. It was just one of those

decisions that happens. Coutinho. What a save! And what a

shot. Coutinho realise it was an pretty quickly but so did David de

Gea. Of all the people on the field, he was watching astutely and realise

that Coutinho was going to let it fly. It is a super Saver. So many

times over the last few seasons have we said David de Gea is the reason

that Manchester United have got three points or a point. And it

looks like being the case again tonight. Rooney. Valencia. The

option was there for him to dart inside. Emre Can. It was behind.

Manchester United have a corner. Their first of the night. The 81st

minute. Daley Blind delivers. Headed towards goal by Fellaini. He has

never scored against Liverpool. This is the 20th time in his career that

he has faced them. And now seven minutes of 90 to go. A lovely flick

from Coutinho and Firmino might be in. What a challenge from Valencia.

In its own way, as good as the two David de Gea's saves we have seen.

Brilliant setup from Coutinho and Firmino's first touch was not the

worst. He still thinks he is going to get there but look at the

determination from Antonio Valencia. That is brilliant. We do not think

of him as a winger any more but he is a full-back and one of the better

ones around. Jurgen Klopp's team would not be the first of this

weekends to feel they have dominated a game but not get the full three

points. Anderson. -- Henderson. Shaw gave it away. Matip. Liverpool fans

do not want to see the ball going that way. And that is going straight

out of play. Shaw did not even need to touch it. Jurgen Klopp is furious

with his goalkeeper. Klein. And it is all over at

Anfield. A game between two heavyweights, archrivals, it's never

really got going. It certainly did not live up to the heights. David de

Gea, one of the star men, as he so often is, with two really good saves

in the second half, from the two best chances of the game, keeping

out Emre Can and Coutinho, one of the standout Anfield players.

Overall, the star performer after all the pressure put on him, was the

referee, Anthony Taylor. It finishes 0-0. We should expect from ourselves

to play better and more patiently, more cool and calm in specific

situations. We should have better spaces to use. So for this

performance today, we get a point. It doesn't feel like the best thing

in the world but it is what we got on so we move on. Control of the

game was our game. Even the reactions from the crowd, it was

permanently disappointment because they were playing very well. You

make them play better. And people were expecting us to come here and

to be really in trouble, which we weren't. So I think the performance

was really positive. You cursing the opposition goalkeeper a little bit?

A little bit. There is a top-class keeper. He made some brilliant

saves. But I still think we can do a little bit more. I think the

standards we have said this season, we did not really reach them in the

game. The atmosphere is electric and we knew it was going to be like

that. It always is when Man United come to Anfield. Like I say, we were

disappointed not to walk away with three points.

With no the week have, with this game, with the next game at

Stamford, which. Other teams in the title race, they have much easier

fixture than we have at this moment. We have to keep close to them,

because our moment to win the four or five matches in a row will

arrive, and then, we will be there. Those arguments that those first 30

seconds, we ought to have just replayed that over and over again,

because it was not great? No, it wasn't. I think the game lacked

serious quality, particularly in the final third. I think the game

started without real tempo. Liverpool, who were in possession,

they have so much possession in the game tonight, but they failed to

capitalise. Mourinho saying they controlled the game without the

ball, and that's how it was for United. So much talk before the game

for the referee, but I think he had an easy night, there was no needle

in the game whatsoever. Do you feel that Mourinho, through what he said

afterwards, felt that he had a point to prove tonight? Yes, that very

much was Mourinho's DNA all over that performance, the way they

started the game, they did not want to pass from the back, there were

playing it long, denying Liverpool the energy to win it back, which

they thrive off. It was a controlled performance, like you would have

seen in his great days when he was manager at Chelsea. We started to

question Mourinho, and I think today he demonstrated, this was him in

charge of his team. With the youngsters out in wide positions, a

real structure to the team, and I think he will be very pleased with

it. So the control came from sticking to their positions and

being resolute in the tackle? Yes, I think that's fair to say. The way

they set up today, I think the full-backs were reluctant to get

forward at times. Ander Herrera was their best player today, I felt.

Without the ball, he plugged holes very, very well, is stopping the

flow of Liverpool's attacks, stopping the supply line to Daniel

Sturridge, Martin? He's almost the boss on the pitch, Herrera. He

played with great maturity. This was him again, and Pogba is unlucky.

He's now playing just off the front, so they've sorted out the best

position for him. Herrera, he was not even thought about for starting

games earlier on. He will not be beaten, he typifies the manager, and

he had a fine performance. It was all about plugging gaps, and the

determination to get back goal side. We rarely see that from footballers

in general now, players getting back into position. That was a fantastic

tackle by Valencia. And this is only the first step by Manchester United.

Maybe we should ask you that question, were you pleased with that

performance tonight? It's got nothing to do with me! It was a

stepping stone. They only had 35% possession tonight, but... The lack

of needle in the game, so many of these games over the years, I know

tackling is going out of the game a bit, but where was the aggression

tonight? That's why I say, it was an easy game to referee tonight. Let's

take that, then. People might disagree with a yellow card here, or

a decision to play on there... Whatever it may be. But overall, it

is a game where the referee has the potential to make a big mistake,

because of the rivalry - and he didn't. So you're giving him a

backhanded condiment by saying, because the players did not kick

lumps out of each other... The ball was not in the penalty box much.

There were occasions when, he could have let it flow a bit more. There

was a couple of times when he was punishing teams, but generally I

think he handled himself well, a but he was in control, in a week when a

lot has been said about it? I agree. So much had been said, I thought he

conducted himself really well today. But going back to that point - it

annoys me watching that game, when you've seen some of those really

intense games over the years, it was seriously lacking today. As far as

Liverpool are concerned, did they look better without Daniel Sturridge

or did they look better when Adam Lallana came on or is it a bit of

both? Well, for me no going down the middle as well, I think he's the one

who wants to make those runs. But Sturridge, we've seen it for England

and again tonight - is he really an out-and-out centre forward? This was

not a great all in, I will admit, but his movement has to be better,

and he has to retain possession. Losing the ball far too easily

there. His coming deeper now. If I'm playing against him, I'm delighted

with that. Is having no influence on the game from an attacking point of

view there. He might not get opportunities times, but sometimes

you've got to continue to make those runs, and eventually, the quality

they've got, it will come. When for me no came into the middle, even

know Lallana came on, it made the difference, it really did. He wants

to make a run, he wants to take players out of position, create

space for other people. Again, he wants to get to the back of people,

making those runs. And he has been a revelation for them in that

position. The manager takes responsible are, he did not pick him

as a centre forward. But when he was on the pitch, with Lallana on, they

linked up much better. In the examples you've picked, his linking

up with Lallana, so... It's the first time he started does four

players together, and it did not work today, not until Lallana came

in. Then Liverpool looked a lot better going forward. Let's look at

some of the crucial moments from the second half, including the

Ibrahimovic header. Great ball in from Pogba. He's lethal in the air.

Trying to head it back across the goal, he gets that one wrong. A

player of his quality should be punishing Liverpool there. Best

chance of the game. And at the other end? How many times have we spoken

about this guy saving United over the years? That is a world-class

save, particularly the bodies which is between him and the ball. That's

65 minutes or so, he's had nothing to do in the game, he's really

switched on. And this one, he must have gambled on where he was going

to put it, and what a save that is. He makes it look easy, he makes

those sales look easy. His top classed, one of the best if not the

best. That does not look easy to me! He makes it look easy. He's always

in the right position. So agile, isn't he? He's got very quickly, and

he's flying through the air, brilliant to watch. Moving on

Sunday's matches, starting at St Mary's, with Southampton taking on

Burnley. Managers and players come and go at

St Mary's, but Southampton continues to roll on very nicely, thank you.

Injuries rule out Cedric and Bertrand. Jordy Clasie is preferred

in midfield. Andre Gray serving the third of his four-game ban, and Sean

Dyche names an unchanged side again. Seven points from the last nine for

Southampton, with victories against Swansea and West Ham in that. Berg

Gudmundsson got that one wrong. What a save that was from Tom Heaton!

Magnificent stop by the Birmingham Burnley goalkeeper! Charlie Austin

against his former club, and he's scored on both previous occasions

against them. He thought it was in, as did most at St Mary's.

Magnificent stop. Huge week coming up for Southampton - on Thursday

they play at one of THE theatres in European football, the San Siro,

away to Inter Milan. And after that it's a way to Manchester City.

Forster's clearance, and it has come to Tadic! Saved by heating! And it's

a goal kick. That would have been a bizarre way

to break the deadlock. Southampton, so neat and tidy position, almost

breaking the deadlock through an old-fashioned punt up field.

Gudmundsson goes down under the challenge of two defenders. The

referee not interested. Tadic releases Austin... Tom Heaton is out

of position. And Austin took it early, and got it all wrong. Was

this a decent penalty shout? I think so, that was a poor challenge by van

Dyck. Mike Dean, who was giving penalties left, right and centre in

August, four in his first three games, has not given one since.

Tadic, away from Gudmundsson. He's found Redmond. Davis! Nathan

Redmond, who hasn't scored since the opening day, used Davis as a decoy.

Tadic has worked the angle. Away by Keane, out for a corner. Not what he

intended. Corner comes in from Davis.

Redmond... And Austin couldn't finish it. Redmond twisting and

turning and embarrassing Steven Ward.

Austin snatched at it somewhat, on the stroke of half-time.

Davis stretching to retain it, and winning the corner off void.

Swaddling off Boyd. Austin, and it's in. Well, he had his chances in the

first half, denied by Tom Heaton, but he's not to be denied here.

Seven minutes into the second half, Southampton have the lead which I

deserve. Austin gets his sixth of the season, and he's now scored in

the last three games against his former club Burnley.

Burnley now need to defend this corner better than they did the

last. Redmond! 2-0! There's no way back for Burnley now, surely. His

first goal since the opening day of the season, and Sean Dyche will have

this team of his in for extra training on set pieces in the week.

That was a shocker. Mike Dean waved away Burnley's

shouts for a penalty in the first half. How much contact was there? He

made the most of it. I'm not so sure. I didn't do anything, in his

best English, says the Icelander Berg Gudmundsson.

He was never going to mess, was he? Southampton have blitzed in Burnley

at the start of the second half. And they are running over the hills.

Burnley have already lost twice away from home this season at Chelsea and

Leicester but with so long to go in this game, you would not bet against

this finishing more than three. Burnley have their first corner of

the game. It goes towards Keane. Fonte get his head to it. Bellotti.

-- penalty. Earlier in the season, this referee gave penalties aplenty

for that kind of incident. It goes to Dusan Tadic. Impeding progress

towards that corner kick. Sam Vokes with a chance to put Burnley on the

score sheets. Straight down the middle. Southampton's run of clean

sheets ends today. Straight down the middle, sending forged the wrong

way. He will be disappointed. -- sending Forster the wrong way.

Tadic, back from Davis. The cross reaches Rodriguez. It should have

been four. What a chance for Rodriguez. He knows he should have

buried that one. Southampton will have to make do with the three goals

they have got. What was the secret to your success today, do you feel?

A good spirit, good attitude from the squad. We tried to start with a

difference team every time, every few days with different players. It

is important to keep good quality on the pitch and also good spirit. Is

the biggest disappointment at the manner in which you conceded the

opening two girls? Up there with the disappointment of not getting a

penalty which might have made the game very different. Scratching my

head a bit. They were very good side but we had weathered the first ten

minutes. We lost our shape slightly but we were still in the game and we

should have a penalty. You need those big decisions to for you. That

said, they are good side good form. They break the shape well at times.

They have shown that that they are certainly a side to be reckoned

with. A lot of players do not celebrate against their former teams

but you did today. I did last time. I have great respect for everybody

at the club and the fans, but I'm new to score goals for Southampton

and I will celebrate everyone. -- I'm here to score goals. Let's deal

with the penalties. Mike Dean has given 19 since last season. Six in

seven games this season. And yet Sean Dyche, is he right to be

aggrieved? Totally. This was a clear penalty. Whether or not

aggrieved? Totally. This was a clear penalty. Whether or not it was the

position, he cannot say it is a penalty but that is a clear penalty.

Van Dijk turned his back on the ball. Clear penalty. Crazy defending

from van Dijk. This is the first goal he has conceded. That was a

definite penalty. And it looks like he has a fantastic view on it. And

Gudmundsson on McQueen. I understand why he has given it. But he falls in

a way that makes it look... Look at that, that is a dive. You don't

think there is contact? I don't think there is enough contact. And

this one is just unbelievable. I am thinking if I'm playing in the

Premier League against Mike Dean, I will be looking to get an advantage

and make contact. I'm going to go down and this is what happens. You

cannot give penalties for that. He has got it all wrong. Do you not

think Tadic may have caught him. When you see a runner, you have to

see the ball and the man. I understand that Tadic is coming in

and blocking him. But he went over very easily. I think that is a soft

penalty. He was not holding, he was watching the ball. I think Mike Dean

got that wrong. He has been braved the season but he needs to go back.

We cannot keep making mistakes at this level. If you were playing

nowadays, you would be considering what penalties. Southampton were

very impressive. Very impressive going forward. I think they have

been impressive all season. Tadic has been excellent but alongside

Redmond, who has been playing further forward this season, I just

think Redmond's first thought every time he gets the ball is to drive at

the defenders. His quality is improving as well. But Tadic always

seems to be pulling out to the left-hand side. When he is in this

position, he creates havoc. This is a great acquisition. Redmond, we

have seen him in this position. He is now maturing very nicely. He did

not play enough for me under Alex Neil but now he has a manager that

loves them. They link up fantastically well. He is

developing, game on game. Tadic has created 28 chances this season. It

shows that they are playing with particular confidence. Every time

they get on the ball, they want to create and get strikes. And that is

where it is coming from. That's 28 is more than any other player in the

Premier League. But quickly, that midfield access provides that

platform. And Davis has been around for a long time but Romeo was

impressing. Middlesbrough at home to Watford. Middlesbrough recall Alvaro

Negredo to help their chances for a first home win. Watford leave Ighalo

on the bench, raising the responsibility on Troy Deeney, on

the verge of becoming the fifth player to score 100 goals for the

club. He scored in each of his last four against Middlesbrough. The home

support doing their best to provide a noise for their team. A lovely

touch to Ramirez. You might fancy a shot. Never really threatening

Gomez, the Uruguay international. Overrunning casually. A scrappy

effort. Aitor Karanka, desperate for first home league win to arrive. His

first-ever managerial meeting with his opposite number.

Drifting towards Negredo. Downing! There was a handball showed in there

as well. Before he fired that wide. Three players in the penalty area

that time, Middlesbrough. Nothing he could do about that, the Moroccan

international. He is looking for Success. Fouled by Callum Chambers.

Holub asked to deliver the free kick. And it was almost an own goal.

-- Holebas to deliver. Negredo, trying to head it to the other way

and he almost beat his own goalkeeper, Victor Valdes. Nobody in

the penalty area, Negredo has to go alone. Gomes had that covered. At

least it is more positive from Middlesbrough's point of view. Not

best kick of Gomes's career. Aitor Karanka had the best home defence in

all four divisions last season. Success. Success carried on. And

then he went down under the challenge from foreshore. And it

came back to Holebas. He scores a scanner. -- a stunner. And he will

remember that. Who say Holebas with a goal to light up this game. --

Jose Holebas. Poor clearance. Holebas onto it. What about that for

a shot? The Greek international who scored against West Ham earlier this

season, getting his second Premier League goal. And the visitors have a

lead. It has been going well so far for Walter Mazzarri. Doing better

than his predecessor. Ramirez, Stuani. And he still

manages to get it in. Ramirez turns around. Middlesbrough keeper

peeling. -- keep at peeling. And that is a corner to

Middlesbrough. Can they make it count? Ramirez with it. Troy Deeney.

For sure. -- Forshaw. In from Friends, better delivery. It went

into the arms of Gomes. An excellent delivery from Friend.

Britt asked, Success. -- Britos. Chambers kept that in. Success, and

a better challenge from trial Ray. -- Traore. Chambers goes down and

once again the revelry is not interested. It looked as though

Holebas make contact. Walter, how satisfying win away from home is

that? It is better to win an away game. We are satisfied with the

personality and the character of the team. But less satisfied with the

overall performance because the other team play better. One point

from 12 away from home so far, that is an area you will need to improve

if you want to give yourself a foundation? Yes, and in the past it

was the opposite. The last half was very strong here. We need to be

strong at home, and we need to try to correct that. You can do all the

tactical analysis you want, but sometimes you just go, well, that

was a great goal to win a football match. Outstanding. Holebas, the

wingback, at the start of this game you were wondering where the quality

was. This more than made up for it. What about this for a shot?

Absolutely smashes it. I think it next the defender. Slightly. It just

left it. -- I think it just nicks the defender. There is real spirit

in this Watford group. After half-time, the team talk, they

lifted it and have more quality. You can change players, you can change

the manager and it never seems to do them much harm. Walter Mazzarri has

got them very well organised. Very well organised. Yesterday it was

got them very well organised. Very well organised. Yesterday it was

like they had five at the back with Britt Oz and Kaboul. And the two

full-backs, Holub was sitting in. -- Holebas. Aitor Karanka said they

played very well for the first 30 or 35 minutes but I didn't see it. I

didn't see any real creativity from Middlesbrough in the final third.

They talked about chances, but there were no chances. Watford's game plan

was excellent. They sat off and said, come on, come and beat us. I

think they felt Middlesbrough did not have the quality to open them

up. It was not a great strike from Forshaw but he was the guy that came

on and changed it, try Ray. -- Traore. He was willing to beat them

on the outside. Before he came on, they lacked any sort of cutting

edge. It did not look to me, particularly at home, the home form

that they had shown over the last few years under Franco was

excellent. But overall, I think Watford did a job on them. -- under

Aitor Karanka. Should the Mills Boro fans be worried? From our

goal-scoring view, yes. Ramirez off Negredo upfront, that did not work.

Walcott! Swansea fall behind to Theo Walcott! In goes that corner kick.

It's two! And its Walcott again! It bounced back to Walcott off

Sigurdsson. It's a shocking goal to concede, really. Granit Xhaka gave

the ball away, and Gylfi Sigurdsson fires Swansea back into this game!

Mesut Ozil! Fantastic finish! He could not have hit it any more

sweetly. Barrow, into a dangerous position, and it's 3-2! And Swansea

are back in it - the substitute strikes! It's a red card! It's a

straight red card for Granit Xhaka. Arsene Wenger is absolutely

incensed. Diego Costa could not miss.

Chelsea's main man in the right place again. Hazard. 2-0 Chelsea.

Assured as ever from Eden Hazard, who is calls his third Premier

League goal of the season. Moses. That will seal it. Excellent work

from the substitute Chalobah. Schmeichel could do nothing about

it. A satisfying day 's work for Chelsea.

Silva getting away from Gareth Barry. He stumbles, and it's a

penalty for Manchester City. Jagielka stretched out his leg and

heated bring down the Spaniard. De Bruyne's effort saved. Stekelenburg

went the right way and it was at a lovely height for him. Lukaku has

got to it by himself... Gael Clichy in his way... Lukaku goes on, and

Lukaku scores! It's a gorgeous flick from Bolasie, but goodness me, how

much did Lukaku have to do from their?! And he did it perfectly!

Another penalty given! And another one conceded by Phil Jagielka. It's

the turn of Sergio Aguero. Acquirer... Saved again by

Stekelenburg! Silva! That one beats Stekelenburg!

It is Nolito who has headed City level, and I'm pretty sure that's

his first touch of the ball. McLean! Nacer Chadli! After the

shock from McLean came back off the post, the former Spurs employee

scores! Son still going. The shot from

Eriksen is blocked, and it's not by Dele Alli! And Spurs have an

equaliser with two minutes left on the clock!
