Good evening. Tonight we'll see the

Premier League's top five and four

big games, plus the goal of the

month competition, which is of the

very highest quality. As the top

five are all on, these two pulled

rank and demanded they were here

this evening. I don't make things

up. Alan Shearer and Ian Wright.

Before we get to the action, these

were the final Premier League

matches before Remembrance Sunday.

Football paid respects this

afternoon.

First to the Etihad for

Manchester City against Arsenal -

a match which looked likely to be

pleasing on the eye.

A privilege to watch this attacking

play.

They are taking the game to a

of Arsenal was to be today, they

knew they could ill afford to be

counterattacking. A good setup for

have been a push in the middle.

There was a nudge, should have been

a penalty to Manchester city, many

position, he set his sights. Left

have done better with that one. I

don't know, it was arrowed in, maybe

I'm being harsh. He will have seen

the team to beat. Right across

Europe, talk is of Manchester city

as a dominant force right across the

perplexed because they didn't do

Sterling... Sane far side. It should

be two, it isn't, but they've let

Arsenal off the hook big-time.

Ramsey ran it into a blind alley.

They should have scored from here.

Sterling should have gone on his

own, could have found a team-mate.

Hopeless bass. He's enraged, he

hates imperfection. One defeat in 13

games. Arsenal have become a more

resilient side. Now they look for

Sanchez to pressure rise. He's done

well, Alexis Sanchez. Ramsey

attacking the boxy of Arsenal, can

Late flurry from Arsenal, could have

over by Monreal. Arsenal unhappy

with the decision. Right at the

start of the second half. A yellow

card for the gunners defender. The

danger came with a ball over the top

that court Arsenal mapping. Sterling

was away. Once that defence had been

turned, he has played on. There is

the challenge. From this angle.

There was a coming together. Arsenal

will see that as being harsh.

Manchester city, of course, won't.

Aguero in this record-breaking week

steps up, in the 50th minute. And

hits the post. It goes in. Luck

stays with the league leaders.

Unless there is a miraculous Arsenal

comeback, the points will stay at

Sanchez. Very deep in his own half.

He got away with it. Kolasinac

didn't... As soon as Sanchez picked

it up in his own half, quickly

pressurised him. So many teams do.

They've worked that situation out.

It's got to be offside, David Silva.

Jesus in. Well, well, well, the goal

is allowed to stand. Arsenal look

perplexed. 3-1 Manchester city,

surely the game is wrapped up. Jesus

from close range. He's in an offside

position now. Arsenal stop to their

discredit. Jesus tap sitting, that,

presumably, is game over. 3-1

Manchester city. The run goes on.

I'm so happy, we deserve that, our

victory, by far. So we did

absolutely everything. Of course,

Arsenal when they have the ball,

they play, especially with Alexis.

World-class player. We made a good

performance considering after

Champions League game away against

Napoli was so tough. All the

big-name players. Another two

points, the last few months we won

everything, we are so pleased.

Bassey season you got off to a

whirlwind start the second half of

the season you faded, what is

different this season do you think?

I don't know, I think last year we

won the five or six first games. Now

it is already 11. It's almost

double. I think we're playing good,

everybody is very concentrated. Also

defensively. I think all around

we're playing very good football.

Yeah, now we have to take a good

rest and be ready in two weeks.

How

difficult is that to take? The man

of Manchester city's goals in the

second half?

I believe it was

nobility, a provoked penalty by

Sterling, we know he dives well, he

does that very well. If a goal was

offside, I'm very upset, because at

2-1 we were in the game and we

looked like we could score. We had

many danger situations. Despite

mistakes... They are made for the

home team as we know. You can accept

defeat if you win the game in a

normal way, you say well done, they

are a good side, but the way it

happened, for me, is an acceptable.

It's the second time in two years,

we conceded two goals offside last

year and a goal offside here again.

He's an unhappy man. There were some

very strong comments.

Too strong for

me, I think. When you see the

incident it was a penalty. I think

the defending was poor. What told is

when you get in this situation, come

across the defender, it is clumsy,

clunky. When you see it from behind,

he's got across. Look at his leg

here. Catches the leg. Now... You

can see clearly here.

It's very

harsh of him to say that. It's not

good.

This one he has got a point.

That is

offside.

He's been let down by his

assistant, it is a yard offside.

He's looking right across the line,

that is a big error, he's been let

down, the referee. It's one thing to

deflect from this team's

inadequacies and deficiencies, it is

another to question someone's

integrity and be wrong. I think he

owes Sterling an apology, no where

it is a dive, that was a penalty.

Talk about Arsenal's deficiencies,

we have spoken about how you press

well and beat the press, Manchester

City managed to beat a press that

wasn't well executed, yes?

the same page, the Arsenal players.

You cannot press every time the ball

goes back. Already, Aaron Ramsey,

from his team. You have to go as a

team. You can't go in twos and

threes, especially against this

Manchester City team, who are

comfortable playing. That is the way

they want to play, and they are

excellent at it. They are

time and time again, and it happened

for the vast majority of the game.

Sanchez is looking for everyone to

go. You can't go every time, it is

too hard work against a good team,

because they can do this. By the

time the players come to support

him, it is too late. They still pick

them off. You have got to go full

on the ball, and all of a sudden,

look, they just go. That is what

happens. Second half, exactly the

same thing.

have to go as a team. Time to turn,

again. We had it with Terry Venables

in 1996, 1998 with Glenn Hoddle, it

is a key thing they work on. Me

being the forward, I was the trigger

point. A bad pass, you have got to

go on everyone going. When you see

someone is in trouble, you have two

angled your run as a forward, press

them into the touchline, so they

have one angle to go in. You lead

them into the bodies. When I go,

everyone has to come with me. If I

hear a shout from a midfielder, I

go, and everyone backs me up.

Arsenal tried to do that today, but

not enough of them did it. It looks

like they went in with a tactic to

do that, but didn't have enough time

to work on it.

Can you remember how

you worked on it for it to be

excluded properly?

You don't work on

it for 2-3 days, you have to work on

it over sustained periods. You want

to lead them into trouble. When you

smell danger, I go. I am the focal

point, and everyone has do follow

me.

Another piece on that analysis,

John Stones is involved in every bit

of City playing out from the back.

The first thing is, he is a

centre-half, so he will be involved,

but not a misplaced pass in all the

examples that Alan Jones, even when

Arsenal players were converging on

him.

He was excellent. As a

goalkeeper, it gives you confidence

as well. But he has a lot of

movement in front of him.

Good

movement. There was a big turning

point in the game, you mention the

goalkeeper before half-time, Aaron

Ramsey goes through, he did one

thing, a save down to his right hand

side, 1-0 before half-time. Last

season, that is in the back of the

net, different story.

They are not

getting the credit at the moment.

Speaking of forward players,

Lacazette, left out, on the bench

again for a big game, like he was at

Anfield.

You are right, he left him

out at Anfield, let him out today

against your rivals, 50 million quid

on a centre forward, and you think,

in those big games, he is going to

make the difference. He has scored

six league goals, more than double

anyone else in the Oslo team. Not

only that, he played Sanchez today,

a guy that doesn't want to commit

oneself to the football club, where

he signed the £50 million. What does

that say to him and the rest of his

team-mates? He has every right to

knock-on the manager's door tomorrow

morning.

I feel for him, I only

finished 90 minutes once, against

Leicester, he scored in

Chelsea. He must be thinking, I

don't know what I need to do to get

in the team, or watching how poorly

Sanchez played. This is on the

chance to score. He only played 422

minutes, they brought your Rouen and

Everton had lost three away matches

in all competitions since sacking

Ronald Koeman and making

David Unsworth caretaker manager.

Today was a crucial

home game, with Watford

the visitors to Goodison Park.

Commentary from Simon Brotherton.

Can Everton stop the rot with the

next managerial appointment, surely

just days away.

It will be easy

against Watford, they have won three

on the road already, and gave the

champions a fright at Stamford

Bridge a couple of weeks ago. A

couple of changes for Everton, Benny

Benning gimme makes his first

Premier League start after coming

off the bench. Oumar Niasse comes

back up front. Watford give summer

signing Will Hughes his first

Premier League start, assume Capoue

makes way, and Andre Gray is in for

the suspended Troy Deeney.

Such a wretched run Everton are on,

ten defeats from 14 matches. They

have only taken one point from the

last four games in the Premier

League. Here is Will Hughes into

Doucoure. Going for the return, just

halted slightly, I think, before

continuing the run. That is what

cost him potentially. Davis tries to

set Sigurdsson away. Cleverley

snuffs it quickly to win it back for

Everton. Richarlison is being

hassled and harassed, but to no

avail. He finds Hughes. Cleverley in

towards Gray. Decent play by

Watford, but Everton are able to get

it forward, up towards Oumar Niasse,

who almost escaped the clutches of

Jagielka. Richarlison will chase it.

Haynes is not going to beat him to

it, but it is wide. And Everton were

nearly undone there. A fast break

from Watford, and Richarlison can't

steer it home. -- Baines is not

going to beat him to it. No change

made by either manager at half-time

here. Phil Jagielka since it

forwards towards Wayne Rooney. Now,

line, where it's met by Michael

start of the second half with his

fourth goal of the season. Michael

Keane looked in vain at the referee,

wanted a free kick. By then, Watford

were away. Look at the space here

for Richarlison. And now it's a big,

big test of Everton and their

brittle confidence. Everton 0-1

league games on the road under Marco

Silva, as many as Watford managed in

incident. Niasse continuing his

finally getting away from him. Space

Niasse, which inadvertently waxing

on the side of the head. There

he looks like he has been in the

wars, Heurelho Gomes. His head when

international, comes on to make his

Watford have you.

Britos up against Niasse, helped out

by Abdoulaye Doucoure, in towards

Gray. He gets the better of Jagielka

again. Will Hughes furthest forward

in support in the middle, it is just

over the top of Will Hughes's

forehead. So nearly in there at the

far post. Good play on the far side.

It is a Watford corner. Gray's got

the pace to get away from Jagielka.

If Hughes had been slightly taller,

it might have been 2-0. Holebas...

Kabasele! 2-0 Watford. It is hard to

see any way back for Everton in this

match. Christian Kabasele's first

goal of the season. Watford's lead

is doubled. Everton's troubles

mount. Over it comes, and Kabasele

rising above his marker got there

ahead of Phil Jagielka. Till

a big decision for the top brass at

Everton to be made. One presumes, in

the coming days. Everton only

intermittently posing any sort of

threat on the Watford goal.

Lookman... Niasse will chase.

Karnezis has come out. A great

chance for a goal here now. It has

ended up in the back of the net, as

the challenge came in from Christian

Kabasele, and Everton are back in

the match at 2-1. Suddenly, perhaps

there is a slightly different

complexion to this match after all.

Niasse just had the pace to get

their first as he was fouled by

Kabasele, it mattered not. To at

least bring them within range at

2-1.

Everton have just made a change

here. Wayne Rooney has gone off to

be replaced by Dominic

Calvert-Lewin. Renewed hope for the

home crowd. Here is Calvert-Lewin.

now. Decent effort as well. On

target initially for the deflection

of the Watford defender. The header

into the far post. Everton are

Fighting spirit from Everton's

players brings them into the match

high. Right across the face of the

Watford just a few minutes ago were

coasting along towards three points.

They're not coasting any more. Just

the sort of performance David

Unsworth, as caretaker manager, has

been looking for and hoping for

through his four matches in charge.

finished in this match, even though

we are two minutes away from the end

of the 90. Holebas with the delivery

and the header agonisingly wide of

the goal from Adrian Mariappa. He'll

be frustrated if they don't end up

with three points from this one.

Oumar Niasse has done well here.

Lenin. Davies. The referee has a

thing. Penalty Everton. A chance to

win the game, surely. Looks like he

slipped and in doing so ended up

taking Aaron Lennon with him. It

wasn't a challenge, it was a slip

that caused it. And a real chance

for Everton here now. Take a look at

this. 12 minutes of added time.

That's almost a period of extra

time. It's Leighton Baines against

Watford's debutant goalkeeper.

Karnezis. 3-2 to Everton. And when

they were 2-0 down you wouldn't have

kept a bean on this scoreline at the

90 minute mark. Just out of reach.

Karnezis was unlucky, he nearly got

to it. And Leighton Baines has his

first Premier League goal of the

season. What a big one from 12

yards. Incredible turnaround.

Andre Gray back in. The Cabella

chance... Richarlison goes down.

Watford have got a penalty, I don't

believe it. I think we're in the

tenth minute of added time. Watford

have the chance now to a draw. Two

career's shot deflected away by

Pickford,. -- Doucoure's shot

deflected. Tom Cleverley against his

former club back at Goodison Park,

the chance to grab a point, can he

do it? No he can't, he has missed!

Surely Everton are going to win the

match now. It wasn't even close. A

poor penalty, costly mess. Not much

time for Watford now to create

anything else. And suddenly Oumar

Niasse is bursting forward. Holebas

able to get across and make the

block. There goes the final whistle

and David Unsworth finally has a win

as caretaker manager. Everton stop

the rot ahead of what will be a big

international break when surely they

will name their next managerial

appointment. What a match, what a

comeback. Drama to the last at

Goodison Park. Everton have won for

the first time since September,

beating Watford 3-2.

We've done it

the hard way haven't we? But we

showed incredible spirit and fight.

The crowd helped us. The Everton

faithful to night were incredible.

Worked really hard for us as a team.

This afternoon we showed we deserved

to win. Again, we didn't deserve the

result.

We put in a few decent

halves. Unfortunately not the whole

game. Maybe today as well.

Thankfully got three points.

Something Unsworth deserves, his

staff stepping in at the last minute

to take charge. Where that will take

him we'll have to wait and see. All

Evertonians are behind him. Can't

wait to get back.

I imagine the club

will announce its decision during

the international break, what do you

know what the situation?

Nothing

more than you do. I'm sure I'll

speak to the chairman. Over the

period. And we'll keep giving our

best for this wonderful club.

Jagielka said they had good halves

under Unsworth, the second half was

the guitar. Unsworth's changes

inspired them.

They did, I was

pleased it happened for him, you

were seeing the pressure. He brought

on the 20-year-old Lookman, one of

those players the Everton fans can

get behind, great skill, awareness,

pace. A willing runner in Oumar

Niasse, who I thought played well

today. Saw him score one of these

against Arsenal, making a nuisance

of himself, he's made a brave

substitution, bringing Calvert-Lewin

on his played really well this

season, when his socks off the team,

to do that have to be brave. He's

come up with the goods. He's not

been picked up at the back post, but

he's headed it well, I was delighted

for him he looks like somebody who

needs a couple of goals to keep him

going. Aaron Lennon as well came on,

his pace is going to cause problems

now. Marco Silva said his man

slipped. This touch here is

brilliant, cut inside. Unfortunately

for him...

It is unlucky.

The touch

was brilliant, cut inside him. He's

had to adjust himself. But that is a

super penalty. Almost told him where

he is going to put it but he can't

stop it because it's such a well

taken penalty.

Delighted for David

Unsworth, he isn't a miracle worker,

he's been put in a difficult

situation and given a very

unbalanced team, that has very

little pace in it. And he's been

searching for the right answers, not

only in this game but the games

beforehand. To do that you've got to

take chances. They are 2-0 down, he

has gambled with chances. It has

worked for him. What an incredibly

proud moment for him.

He's been

lemming four games, the first three

were away. Hard away games. Chelsea,

Lyon, Leicester also under a new

manager. Not much opportunity to

prove yourself.

He's cracked them

up, 2-0 down anything could have

happened. The Everton fans got

behind him and the youngsters, at

the end of the day that is what they

need to do.

He can't come into a

score that has been hopeless all

season and all of a sudden he will

change everything around within two

or three games, it doesn't work like

that. They should have had a point

at the end.

A penalty was given.

Richarlison goes for the ball, gets

the penalty. But Carrillo, if the

ball goes in, it wouldn't have

counted, because the referee has

already pointed for a penalty. Blown

his whistle, just as Carrillo hit

the ball. Even if that does go win,

this season, but the backstreet

nine today. When you have a centre

forward, you want goals, you want

him to have a good touch to bring

people into the game, to ask

questions, and you want him to bully

Christensen, look at the space. He

has got to turn and run at him. I

would be petrified if Romelu Lukaku

gets the ball here. He has copped

out. Again, this is where you want

him, on the it of the box. No chance

of getting the ball off him,

unfortunate that the shot isn't a

great shot. Poor.

advice I would say to him is, when

you are in a barren spell like he

is, forget everything about going

out wide, about coming deep,

thinking you are not getting a touch

of the ball and helping your

team-mate, forget that. It is time

to be selfish and help his team.

what he has got to think about. He

ain't going to get goals by drifting

out and helping the four corners. He

is a goal-scorer, he is getting

judged on scoring goals, like at the

beginning of the season. He is going

deep, out why, he isn't helping

himself.

If he isn't getting the

ball from team-mates, if they aren't

helping him, can you understand him

trying to force it for himself?

helping anyone by going deep and out

wide. Let someone else create the

chance. It is not his job.
