The clock is ticking to the Euros. Northern Ireland have 2-macro

friendlies left before they fly to France. The last time out, they made

history. Tremendous strength from the new boy, Conor Washington.

Northern Ireland are now on a record-breaking unbeaten run of ten

games. In less than 24 hours, Michael O'Neill will name his 23 man

squad. So tonight perhaps a last chance for some to impress the

manager. And the fans are ready to give their team are home sendoff to

remember. It's Northern Ireland versus Belarus live from the

National Stadium at Windsor Park. There's a party atmosphere in

Belfast tonight. It is the last game on home soil before Northern Ireland

jet off on their way to the European Championships. Tonight, they are

hoping to say goodbye to the green and white army until they see them

again in France in two weeks. It is about 15 days until their highly

anticipated opening match against Poland in the finals. Good evening.

Welcome to Windsor Park. Two of Northern Ireland's best ever

players. Easy-going to go? What a finish! What a night for Northern

Ireland. Wilson likes to hit them. 3-0. 147 caps between them for the

Northern Ireland captain Johnson and record scorer David Healy. Your

pictures were grainy, that goal was so long ago. Five goals, five wins.

You cannot say that. Looking forward to tonight's evening of celebration

of Northern Ireland football and what will Michael O'Neill be looking

for most out of this game? Performance, but we were talking

beforehand, for everybody to get through the game fit. He will name

the squad tomorrow, you doesn't want to be dismissing anyone through

injury. Hopefully a win and no injuries. Michael has gone with

experience in his starting XI this evening. We are surmising the back

three, keep the cue windbags. Chris Bard, nice to see him back playing.

It will be crucial when we go into the Euros. Full stop he wants to

give everybody gametime. But how you think it will go tonight, played

with the wing-backs as he has any other friendlies. Yes, I think he

will. It is a formation he is pretty fond of. He has played a lot of

friendly games, so it gives him a chance. It is one he likes with the

two strikers up top. Players who can hold the ball up and run behind. One

player hoping to impress tonight is 23-year-old Conor Washington. He

played no part of the qualifying campaign, but scored on his second

appearance for Northern Ireland in their last friendly against Servini

and he starts tonight. The QPR striker used to be working as a

postman before playing for St Ives town. Now he looks set to book his

place for the Euros. What would you say if four years ago

I would say you were in the position you why now? I would call you crazy.

Scoring his first international goal.

A nice goal to score. It wasn't a little tap, it was nice to be able

to prove to the manager and the fans and hopefully the country as a whole

that I've got something to offer. It's been eight mental four years,

if I'm honest. It doesn't get much better. I would have said that a

year ago, but it has got better since then. Enjoying every moment as

it comes. I am proud of my achievement and after do what I can

and prove to the gaffer that I am worthy of my place.

Coming into the squad, it is such a tight-knit squad, it was nice to be

accepted quickly and readily. It has been very surreal, especially the

last couple of months with moving to QPR and getting my chance in the

squad and managing to score, as well. It's been crazy few and I

don't think it's really sunk in yet. Maybe a year, couple of years, I

might look back and realise how much it all has been. At the minutes, I

am trying to enjoy every minute of it and do as well as I can. David,

how impressed have you been with Connor Washington from what you have

seen so far? The last game, especially his first game, it was an

easy one. An easy place to bond. It wasn't that easy when I was bonding.

You see him in his performance and his goal. I loved his goal because

it was strong, quick. He gave the goalkeeper the eyes, which shows a

player and striker with confidence. A great finish. This is an absolute

fairy tale in many ways, a bit like the same story as Jamie Vardy and

what he has done. Incredible and the credit must go to the players and

the manager 's that have put trust in them. He is a nuisance in the

nicest possible way. He's a nuisance for defenders. He puts them under

pressure, he is physically able for this level of football and, as David

says, gives the goalkeeper the eye and shows the quality he has. He

deserves to be year. Michael obviously trusts him, which is very

important, and it's a great story. Looks like he will definitely go to

the Euros along with Will Grigg, who will take one of those places, as

well. We saw the squad trained here at Windsor Park yesterday and

players like Liam Boyce, Benny Mackay, Daniel Lafferty, Michael

Smith, not here. Do you expect those will be the five who will miss out?

Unfortunately so. I'm sure it wasn't an easy call for Michael because

some of those guys in the campaign, they have turned up week in week out

when there have been games. It is disappointing, but Michael has to

pick a squad and there are only 23. It is devastating news if you are

one of those lads left out because it is a fantastic opportunity to

showcase your talents and, unfortunately, decisions have to be

made and managers have to make them. I'm sure he dealt with it

appropriately. You can only name 23 players. The Euros will be a massive

shock for one player in particular, Kyle Lafferty. Sensational through

the qualifying campaign and earns his 50th cap this evening. I was in

the squad when Mackay came in in the early stages. He was big, he was

raw. He was young. He was probably a bit immature. In the past campaign,

Michael settled him down and I think he is starting to realise now what

he's worth is to the team and the squad. He produced goals in the last

campaign, and it was massive. I spoke to him during the week, he was

very honest and said by now he should have a lot more caps and a

lot more goals. Especially early on. He was unplayable at times. Again,

he was a nuisance in the nicest possible way. He was dangerous. He

looked threatening. You felt every time the ball went to him or there

was an opportunity, a bit like my good mate here, every time the ball

landed or dropped in the box, you felt he was going to score. 50 caps

is a wonderful achievement and he should enjoy this evening. How

important will Steve Davis beat for Northern Ireland across the European

campaign? He is an incredible footballer. He doesn't always get

the accolades he probably deserves because he plays for Southampton,

maybe because he plays for Northern Ireland. Jim got all the accolades

when he played. For somebody like Steven Davis, I trained with him, I

was at Rangers with him, full. He is a fantastic footballer. One thing he

has added to the end of the season, a he scored quite a few goals for

Southampton. The one thing you can say is that he probably would have

played any of the Northern Ireland games. In my opinion, I have seen

probably every game he has played and he is an outstanding player,

leader. He is a quiet lad but when he goes on to the park, he has a

real quality. Northern Ireland unbeaten in ten. Michael O'Neill

will certainly want to extend that record. As will the players. It will

be good for the fans. They have turned out, there is a party

atmosphere. The fans are in good voice and let's send them out happy.

campaign. What a job Michael has done in terms of key players getting

the best out of certain players, particularly Kyle Lafferty.

2-3. They finished fourth in their Euro qualifying group. Captain

Cup final and the 2014 cup final. Both of them one by Manchester City.

Belarus have not scored a goal for quite awhile their last three games

have been 0-0 draws. Even in the qualifying campaign, a surprise

victory with Spain, but only eight goals scored. That is a problem for

them. It will be interesting to see Michaela Yunus can an impact.

Conditions in Belfast on an early summer 's day. There is the man the

media have been getting hold of in recent days. Michael O'Neill, his

34th game in charge. Nine victories so far. Paddy McNair, part of a

three-man defensive line-up. It's a farewell to the team in Belfast but

I wouldn't thought many of those bands were travelling by plane,

boat, automobile, to France. They will have an wonderful opportunity

to witness what will be a special occasion. Many wards have been

before. First and foremost, must be a decent performance tonight. Just

interesting, we talk about the formation. Chris Baird is playing

the centre of the back three. Starting very sharply indeed. 50th

cap this evening for Kyle Lafferty. The fourth Northern Ireland player

to reach that milestone. He has already announced his introduction

to the game in the style that you used to MJ, Ian. -- enjoyed. I agree

with what Jim Jones said earlier in the build-up. When he is on his

game, he has got two or three incredible attributes. Real pace,

good technique and also very good in the air. Harsh to have the foul

given against him there. I would do with McNabb playing that

night, if it is an indication of whether you may start there in the

Euros. He played full-back once or twice. For us, I think there could

be a big position for Mead -- us. Alyaksandr Martynovich. Northern

Ireland next week are away to Slovakia. Tomorrow week. Belarus

provide opposition for the Republic of Ireland next Tuesday. A few

interested people in Great Britain. The fans at Windsor Park or already

in fine voice. Three of tonight's starters play for

the Boro -- Belarus champions. Their season finished in November.

Paddy McNair is under new management at Manchester United.

It interests me, Michael has drilled this throughout the campaign. It

will be even more effective. Keep shape and when you do take the ball,

play quickly on the attack. The goalkeeper, winning his seventh cap

tonight. Another man crucial to us having a

good Euros. Since his time with Tony Pulis, he has improved greatly. Not

surprising he drills that back four. Always confident defender. He adds a

good defensive brain. First opportunity for Washington,

who made such a good impression last time out.

There is the first rendition, the Will Grigg's On Fire has been

adopted by the Northern Ireland fans. He had a good season at Wigan.

We will hear that in Paris and many other places,

Great start for Lafferty! Married last weekend, back in the goals.

Awful mistake in the heart of the Belarus defence and inside six

minutes, let the party continue! Absolutely, great play from Conor

Washington. A little link up with Dallas. He worked down his left

side, lovely reverse ball in the path of Dallas. Poor clearance from

Belarus. Really good play by Washington. Lovely pass, decent ball

in by Dallas. He has the clear that. Nikita Korzun should have cleared

the ball. Two mistakes in a row and the first opportunity and a goal for

Northern Ireland. Remember, they rarely concede here at Windsor Park.

They rarely concede in the first half, certainly. Belarus are the

architects of their own downfall. That was Lafferty's 17th

international goal. That's what a good holding midfield

player does. Breaks off the back, tracks that midfielder. Jonny Evans

talking to him, but he has good tracking. He was a bit unlucky

there. That is not look. -- luck. Washington, what a thorn in the

flesh he is. Jim used it in the nicest term about a nuisance, and he

is. He is lately, he likes to work it. At QPR, everybody worked him

out. He has been causing Alyaksandr Martynovich, who is a decent player,

all sorts of problems. He will be playing club football for Linfield

next season, and has left the league to strugglers Notts County. He

joined a team in the top two of the Premier League. It is interesting,

seeing Egor Filipenko. You have to not give silly powers away. Very

important that we learn to game manage and some of these sides will

eat the clock up, particularly in the league, by a thousand little

things. Got to be careful not to give sloppy fouls away. The big man

is smiling. He has gone to Birmingham, played a few games, a

bit more sharpness, he has been sensational, particularly in the

first part of the campaign. He is a threat, you can run, you can head

it. In terms of club game time, he only really paid four games in total

if you add up the minutes. It is incredible how he finds a way of

doing it. Beryl Roos -- Belarus look a little bit rattled.

I think we are going to get the full song tonight! Wonderful to see,

wonderful to hear. He was looking into the sun. Good

ball in with a bit of pace, should one -- someone should have been

across the face of it. If you are just joining us, Northern

Ireland 1-0 up after Kyle Lafferty's goal at six minutes. It's all going

a bit astray for Belarus at the moment. Getting things restarted

quickly, Dallas. Sloppy decision from Martin Atkins on.

A tough World Cup, Belarus. France and the Netherlands and Sweden.

Northern Ireland's free kicks have been a key factor of their play the

last couple of years. Unbelievable tracking back from Kyle

Lafferty. Here is an opportunity for the captain, Steven Davis.

If Steven Davis had played a bit of a longer pass, I think Dallas would

have been passed and got the ball in. Steven Davis does it so well,

been outstanding for Southampton. Great timing of runs into the box.

The defence does its job. Forward long ball.

A bit too far-away. That's what he gives you, Washington. He gives that

ability to exploit the space. A bit too soft, could have been a longer

ball from Paddy McNair. Bright start from Northern Ireland, been really

good and very impressive. Michael O'Neill wanted a performance. Of

course there is a party atmosphere. Partying and sing songs, second for

the manager. He wants the performance. If you are 30-something

and planed your last game, it is important that you want to go out.

Give the performance and rightly sent us off in a real ceremonial

atmosphere. In scoring tonight, Northern Ireland have equalled the

record set in the mid-60s. They have scored in their last eight matches.

They lasted that between 1963 and 1965. Records are being broken. You

said seven unbeaten here at Windsor and won five of that last ten.

Played ten, won six. More than two points per game, very, very

impressive. Michael deserves a huge amount of credit for that.

Builders put themselves needlessly on the back foot. -- Belarus. A bit

of the beauty of playing the three, there are areas you can defend with

the five. If you tried to play through midfield, there is the tree

in there, the two fours can maintain the back three. Pretty good system.

I really like playing that, Michael is using it to good effect, but

potentially three offers best players, the backs. It is a good

position for Baird. Very experienced, brilliant in the air.

So far, so good. Roy Carroll not being troubled so far. Belarus,

their search for a goal to end their drought continues.

Again, immediately, Corry Evans bearing down on the opposition

midfield. Having trouble getting out of their own half. Yes, and on that

right-hand side, Conor McLaughlin doing absolutely sensational in this

campaign. And there it is. The full-back comes, a bit of time,

tries to play the ball over the top. Look at that, nowhere to go.

Washington on the right-hand side. And the Belarus backroom staff.

Alyaksandr Khatskevich will be a bit concerned about how they have

started, some sloppiness. Definitely played out of play. By Shitau.

Lafferty gets it back to Dallas. Getting a lot of joy on this

left-hand side, McLaughlin is at the back post, Washington around the

penalties but is I thought Kyle Lafferty would trust himself on his

left foot, but he could have whipped it in with his left foot. Good

movement again from Davis. Just looking sharper.

You think about the energy in the camp at the moment. And vying for

starting positions in big games. Everybody wanting to avoid a knock

or injury at this stage. You can be sensible about being, you know,

hanging your leg in the tackle, nothing too stupid. If you've got to

compete, you've got to compete. You see this with Conor Washington. He

is fill on the ball. Krivets having a poor start to the game. Jonny

Evans goes down, wins the free kick. The 48th cup, -- cap.

Mikhail Gordeichuk got both the goals against Luxembourg in

September. Davis with the free kick, easy for

the goalkeeper. The whole stadium stands up behind.

This is going to be another situation, more and more atmosphere,

the stadium looks fantastic. Dallas, going past the balloon, and another

one in front, but the challenge, wins the free kick. In the build-up

to that, McNair to be straight, and Dallas did not see him, but when

McNair covers the ground, he really does it impressively, like a real

athlete. Stuart Dallas well down this left-hand side. Across the

place off the keeper. Let's see if this will be a better one from

Captain Davis. Half a dozen green shots in the penalty area, better

delivery, but Baird, still has not scored in international goal.

Belarus at the moment, trouble getting the ball away. Was he not

denied one with the weird offside decision? Definitely was. Baird

struck that well, really good delivery. Evans goes across, it

well, but good block. I think it was Valadzko with the block at the box.

It is old Northern Ireland at the moment. It will be fascinating to

see the next game, two teams in the Euros. Fascinating to see how they

can cope. Good side, Slovakia. The build-up as been spot on. Looking to

get through the next couple of games, not too many injuries, he

looks like he has had a good few weeks work here.

What a campaign Davis had, leading by example, goals at Windsor Park,

securing qualification. Davis is so bright, nor was the

opportunity, knows he does not have much time, one of those lives are

where of players around him. He has had a terrific season, scored two

goals against Tottenham in the last month, hoping to secure a European

spot. Unsung hero in the Premier League. Certainly as here. When

people talk about Lafferty and McAuley, I think Steven Davis has

been the best player. By a little way, and credit, given magnificent

performances throughout the squad. I am sure Jonny Evans knew we that

was going. He is not a natural full-back, Dallas, plays in wingback

position. But not quite set to show him inside. Jonny Evans manages to

get it clear. After 23 minutes, it is the first corner for Belarus. And

that was a good header. Really good. We have not mentioned Yanush, not

much touch of the ball. It could have been Baird there, getting on

the break, gets in front. Steve Davis could have looked on. Long 23

minutes if you have, long way to Windsor Park. -- if you have

travelled a long way. In about five minutes, the whole of

the playing surface will be in shadow.

Cathcart, I have seen him playing for Watford, brilliant, and

outstanding for Northern Ireland. They are giving Dallas too much room

here on the left. Brilliant ball from Baird. Good from Dallas, and

Washington there. Baird has the opportunity to head that. McCauley

is a better all-round defender, but Baird is a good midfield player. He

was good at that crossfield ball. It will not matter if Northern

Ireland when a couple of games -- win,.

Again, and nothing ball, from Belarus. There was mobility about

that backline. They are in front, very well-organised. I like Meikle

and he has a feeling about this three at the back. -- I like Michael

O'Neill. He is not afraid of change, that is good management. He has made

the tough calls, hasn't he? Did not bring Roy Carroll back, he is now

back in possession of the clubs, big battle for the number one spot. And

the different skill sets they bring. You can see Roy here. MacGyver and

has done very well, albeit a bit quieter. -- Michael McGovern has

done well. He has to get used to life here in Belfast. A big

character, no doubt about that. There is a big character on the

telephone. Still one moment of danger in the

opening 27 minutes on Roy Carroll's goal, from Yanush.

Washington is like a terrier! He is, Filipenko looking calm and collected

in the end, but a little bit lucky. Very comprehensive first 28 minutes

of the game. What they do really well and what I think Michael

O'Neill as I was doing is pressuring the unit. -- what I think Michael

O'Neill is doing. Everybody knows what they are doing. Yes, doing an

amazing job. No room for Belarus. I do not know what the intention

was. I think trying to flick it out. Valadzko got it all wrong. They are

enjoying their time, the beautiful weather. We could be in the South of

France already! Newly. All vintages of replica shirts onshore. Wonderful

to see is green here. That is good work. Play on says the

referee. He was unlucky. Wait continues. McLauchlan calling for it

at the back post. Some nervousness, good energy about Northern Ireland.

Some cheap giveaways. Into the path of Lafferty, ambitious. Still some

Throw in for Northern Ireland, good entertaining stuff. Yes, Lafferty

takes it well, drills it in, good touch. Two important blocks by the

playing in the League 1 play-off final on Sunday against Barnsley.

Good game, Millwall did well to beat Bradford. Fascinating game. You seen

We have set it for too long. I think Michael has done an amazing job

personally with him. It is all they are, no doubt. -- all there. He has

been amazing for Northern Ireland. And his domestic career for sure.

This is tidy stuff for Northern Ireland.

Good defending from Igor Shitau there. Dallas is a big favourite at

Windsor Park, maybe not any player that is not a big favourite, but

Dallas particularly impressive. Again, good passing. He was looking

for Washington, but did not follow his path. You could make those runs.

Look where Davis is. Good delivery as well.

Good run from Stasevich. Has to go across him, but went behind him. The

gods are with us, the clouds. Beautiful. -- the clouds have this

appeared. Northern Ireland with a beautiful stand and serving up

appropriate football. Northern Ireland with the opening goal. He

can't believe it. That is the one I talk about. I do not think it is our

foul, but he is making more. I think that Jose Mourinho said that England

could not do better in Europe unless they learn how to play act. But that

is not our foul! Good to see the Centre for union is as strong as

ever. That is not up through an elbow. -- good to see the Centre for

union. Ongoing dialogue with Mr Atkinson, has Kyle Lafferty. --

centre forward union. Have you had a had a song composed for you? You're

kidding me! If only you had been playing in the

age of social media. Will Grigg waiting his chance, alongside Aaron

Hughes on the bench tonight. Unfortunate slip by Lafferty there.

lines. Is that Filipenko down? It could be. Not a happy camper. Could

be looking at a first-half substitution. It must be a muscular

injury, looks like he has hurt his hip. Two reserve goalkeepers amongst

Corry Evans missed it, but well done Conor McLaughlin. One of his quieter

opening 36 minutes. Yes. Belarus will make a change. They will bring

on Mikhail Sivakow. Another man for whom the 2016

European Championships will be a great chance to advertise his

skills. Rightly so. Conor Washington wanting water, he has been a bundle

of energy. Egor Filipenko going off. Definitely

looking like he was holding his hip. You can see how they have been

struggling for goals recently. Yes. From what we have seen of Yanush...

And the ball back, and penalising Corry Evans. From behind, that is

why it has to be given, but Yanush looking all right, he had one

fleeting chance with Reed, but across the near post, but very

little other than that. -- fleeting chance with Baird.

That was a good ball, that. Brilliant ball.

Northern Ireland just cannot afford to turn it off. Eventually, Shitau

was robbed. Brilliant ball from Martynovich. Stasevich should have

done better with it. But Jonny Evans initially, then Paddy McNair cleaned

up brilliantly. Referee Atkinson says to play on.

Jonny Evans comes across. Not for the first time, the ball rolls out

of play for Rory Carroll -- Roy Carroll goal kick. 77th in the

world, looking like that at the moment, not troubling us at the

moment, not to take anything away from Northern Ireland who have been

fantastic. Great view from the stand. And the fellow that has been

playing for Northern Ireland for quite a long time, with that

six-year break in between. Good pass by Lafferty for

Washington. Match officials saying there was no foul there. It was

initially. But the ball away from Washington.

They just can't keep it in. Just the wrong ball, good run again. Conor

Washington again giving a different guy mentioned. Lafferty is quick but

Washington loves those channels. -- different guy mentioned. --

dimension. And on the bench, including the likes of Oliver

Norwood, rested this evening. But played in the last nine games.

Michael O'Neill will not want the energy levels to drop in the closing

moments of this first-half. Alyaksandr Khatskevich at the

conundrum about whether to give everyone in the squad some playing

time tonight. 2.5 minutes of the first half left.

And a free kick. He has had a good half, Paddy McNair. I remember when

he played at full-back earlier on, some imposing runs, I like him as a

midfield player, I laugh his stature, good pace, good footballer,

as you would expect from a lad from Man United. He has had a lot go on

recently, but character building, he has had a good bounce back,

outstanding in the last couple of games. First challenge by Paddy

McNair at Old Trafford next season. It is early for them to compare and

contrast, but I see a little bit of potential to be a good player, I

like him. He has good stature. Look at that run.

Washington has done it! Another howler by Belarus and Conor

Washington does it again! He does. I don't know what he was thinking, but

average cross ROM Dallas. Early fatigue makes a nuisance. Two

players involved. -- average cross from Dallas, and Kyle Lafferty makes

a nuisance. Looking at Dallas. It should have been the keeper's ball.

Was he trying to punch it? Martynovich duct because he knew the

keeper was coming in, but good header from Washington, what is the

keeper doing? It bounces out of his hands. But still a bit to do. It is

easy, this international football! LAUGHTER

He has made some impact at Windsor Park. And that is probably what

Northern Ireland deserve in this first-half. Without doubt. You talk

about Yanush, out there on his own, hardly seeing the ball.

The two men up front for no other now and provide the goals for this

first. Connor Washington on his third cap and second appearance at

Windsor Park. Two goals for him. Kyle Lafferty with the early goal.

Belarus at fault for both. Let's see what the second half of brings. We

might see the odd substitution, but at half-time at the National stadium

it is Ireland Ali Northern Ireland in complete control 2-0 up.

Ireland. A great first off, rounded off in the 44th minute with a second

goal. After the first goal, it took them a while to create too much

after that, but a great way to go in the second half. Exactly what the

manager will have wanted tonight. They are getting back into the

groove. You can see there is bit of roast dinners, but a controlled,

measured performance. Belarus have not threatened the Northern Ireland

goal at all, so it has been pretty comfortable defensively. I think

getting off that start again is massive in these games. They

controlled large chunks of it. Possession ways. Belarus have played

a lot of football in their own half and were Northern Ireland have

pinched it, they have looked threatening. Kyle Lafferty has

looked threatening. What a great start for him on his 50th

appearance. As a striker he is aware, alert. I think the goal came

from a long diagonal. He is a threat, big, strong. A great game by

Dallas, sticks it in the box. A bit of force. 1-0 Northern Ireland,

great finish. Great centre forward play. Get that bit of luck, but as a

centre forward, it is what you want. Certainly. It gives you a great

platform to go on and play and I think we did. At times, we looked as

if we were getting back into that groove of controlling the game and

playing on a counterattack which we are. With Washington and Lafferty,

they possess a threat over the top. Both of them can play with their

back to goal. It is important that they go on from here. Michael Doctor

bad performance prior to leaving and he is getting it. Two goals in two

games, the stuff of dreams. It is. On half-time, no better time to

score for the players and Michael going. An average all in, but put it

in because you don't know what will happen with the goalkeeper. It was a

brave header. The goalkeeper made a howler, but one thing Connor is is

he is alert and aware. -- Conor Twice when we have done it we have

scored goals. There have been opportunities, especially early on.

Especially now, looking at the keeper, he is a car crash. If he

stays on, he will have a panic episode. Especially with playing

that two upfront, and added advantage. It is lovely for Michael

O'Neill to have an option. Through your entire qualifying campaign, you

come to the other side and another great attacking option with Conor

Washington. In the last game, when he scored, people were saying, will

Michael bring him in? Michael has done his homework. He has been out

and about, the Scouts, watching him. Sometimes it is difficult to settle

in to a squad. Three NACRO games -- three games, two games. Kyle

Lafferty is edging ever closer to David's record. The manager has a

conundrum. Does he keep Kyle Lafferty on? He has been busy in the

first half. Or does he try to wrap him up in cotton wool? He needs

gametime. He needs play. Play an hour, 70 minutes. It won't do him

any harm, more good than harm. He has got such a presence and Ian used

the word stature. He certainly has that. He has been a handful. When he

is fit and when he is fine, he is a huge asset to the team and more

importantly, he creates opportunities for others. His play

has been generally very good. One thing Kyle does is give energy while

he is playing. He wants to play. This is actually on lucky. Good

touch, I think that is probably going in the net but for a block. I

know of an English referee, but you get an Italian, Spanish referee,

there is not much in it. Is that something they will have to watch

out for? I think so. I think Kyle has done well over the past couple

of years. Picking up the odd card and suspension, but on the European

stage, these referees, they are under instructions to hand out

yellow cards and red cards. Kyle needs to make sure he keeps his arm

down. Northern Ireland very successful down the left tonight. Is

that because of the formation they are playing? Yes, your wing-backs,

it allows them the opportunity to get forward and Dallas has been a

revelation since he came in. I've always been very impressed with him.

Once he came into this arena, you are never sure. He is another one

that has impressed. He's very comfortable. He gets it high up the

pitch, which is very important. He is not frightened to join in. The

timing of his run has been very good. Once he gets in there, it is

no surprise that both goals have been created down that side. He's

direct. A bulldozer type. He's not going to beat you with a couple of

step overs. He's direct, strong, intelligent. Considering he was

playing four years ago in the lower league. It is a great story, he's

going to the Euro is he fully deserves it because he has been

incredible. Sat here against Slovenia, we sang his praises. His

versatility. He plays down the right hand side and now as a left

wing-back. It is your worst nightmare. He is just a really good

footballer. He is an intelligent footballer and the manager trusts

him to play in that position. Thank you for the moment.

Normally, the man to my left asking probing questions. Tonight, what is

it like to be in such rich and suspicious times? An impressive game

so far for us. I know it is a friendly, but the team has played

superbly. A new formation, some new personnel, and I think we would all

agree, Paddy McNair has had a superb game. You are doing the analysis,

that is the job of the boys in the studio! Tell me about the times for

the IFA and Northern Ireland. It might well be that we never see the

likes of this again, given that it has taken four generations to get

here. We have now got the facilities, we have got the team,

the manager. I can see this continuing for a long time into the

future. For this new stadium, new heroes. Each one of those 23 man

squad will head up and march into history. And they are all heroes. We

will have a few more spectacular heroes after the actual games in

France. Difficult job for you is holding onto my Colonial. He has

signed a new contract and it looks good for the future. You smile. What

do you expect in France? What would be a success from the view of the

IFA? Are you looking at beyond the group stages? I think a good

performers would be success in relative terms. I have a feeling we

could sneak through to the last 16 and anything can happen after that.

Your message to those fans are sitting at home watching on the BBC?

You now have a team you can be proud of, a stadium you can be proud of,

and you can see that the crowd is fantastic tonight. Those who aren't

than 24 hours earlier, Rory McIlroy lifted his 20th professional title.

He is of course a massive Northern Ireland football fan and he took up

Not too bad. They are going to do something that

no other International have ever done, go on to play the Euros. Just

to spend a few hours with them and interact with them. Being able to

see them before they head off to France, it's great. Some speed! He's

a top lad, special golfer, one of the top players in the world. We

have wanted to get him in for a while, but his schedule is hectic.

Fair play to him, he won the Irish Opened the day before. He got all

you guys to speak to him and he still has time for us. It is

special. There you go, work on the footwork.

You see how little he has been affected by the fame and success he

has had. But it was nice of him to tell the players what it meant, what

he felt it meant to the people of Northern Ireland, that's Northern

Ireland are now going to the finals. Someone like Rory says that to you,

it has a real impact. It is a day that the players will always

Nice to hear Rory say what the Northern Ireland team has done for

the whole country, given everybody a boost. Totally. To qualify in the

manner in which we did within the group and to have someone of his

stature, has recognised himself, it is huge for them. It is a huge

confidence boost to be able to speak to him and probably have

conversations with him about his own trials and tribulations, it is huge

for them. Well done to the manager and well done to Rory. A few dodgy

swings in there. It is worrying when Rory is telling Rory Kyle about his

footwork. Rory will play in the US Open in the first two games but says

he will fly into Paris to watch the big game against the world

champions, Germany. Back to tonight's game. Michael will have

been very, very content from what he saw in the first half. The set piece

has been a big part of Michael's success story with this team. Hasn't

had much opportunity tonight, but from the one chance they had, they

almost created something. I think he knows that set pieces are massive in

the game and he works diligently at them and the players buy into it.

They have created enough on Tuesdays for them -- enough opportunities

from set pieces. It is enough to score a goal and they recognise

that. Michael is meticulous in is set piece playing. Yes, they were

doing set pieces in Bangor today. Somebody who works well with the

players at first on what they're the movements, you can see by the amount

of goals they scored in the campaign, it is successful. There is

an opportunity to put the ball in the box and hopefully they get some

in the second half. More of the same in the second half? Yes, I think so.

Maybe one or two changes. I wouldn't be surprised if Steven Davis... I

would ring him off and rest him. He is an important player for us.

Perhaps Oliver Norwood coming on. Northern Ireland look comfortable

with and without the ball. Jim touched on it. They do. The players

have worked on this, where they don't want to press and press and

get picked off. Wait until it goes into their midfield. Paddy McNair

slotted it across. Picking up the ball and going forward. One other

change. Roy Carroll is replaced by Alan Mannus for the second half.

international cap. Oliver Norwood a regular starter on the bench

When he was at Southampton, he was never that elegant. A lovely piece

Northern Ireland football team. I'm a massive fan of Rory. The last

three hours was staggering. 280 yards over water, didn't even blink.

Norwood's first touch in the second half, giving away a corner. Belarus

and their three goalless draws, they got five clean sheets in a row.

Difficult to see how they achieved that given the first 45 minutes

here. First off change, two half-time changes for Northern

Ireland. On a short corner, they don't quite

log onto Krivets. He should be better. A fairly decent opportunity.

The opening goal scorer and... Certainly, so far, Iain Dowie is Man

of the Match. -- Iain Dowie's Man of the Match.

Jonny Evans is now wearing the captain's armband.

Again, good control. Didn't get the shot quite right, but the second

touch was very good. Norwood's said pieces in the campaign were

magnificent. You could see all the work through the campaign. You could

see the work paying off from the set pieces. That was notable features of

Northern Ireland's campaign. He heads it out of your own box, but

goggling, but quite a big side, imported to work on them. McNair

gives us another little boost. I wonder whether Oliver Norwood has

been given a bit more licence. He is a good athlete. This is a really

good opportunity, with Norwood. He will be looking to bounce it on the

six yard line with a bit of height, far end and get bodies across the

face. There is the man signalling at the back with his hands up the back

post. I think Conor McLaughlin took a

blow. I don't think there was any intent in it.

Absolutely perfect ball on the six yard line at the far post, head

height. You really expected someone on the end of it.

Will Grigg is the man of the moment. Terrific season he has had. Scoring

freely for Wigan in their triumphant charge of League 1. -- up League 1.

Cathcart is a regular for Watford, an impressive season for them.

The turn is really clever. He let it run across his body, but he is such

a big man, it is a definite foul. Kicks out, good opportunity again.

This one can really... This will be Oliver Norwood's right where he

wants it. Just try and visit through that back area.

Norwood wasn't far off just moments ago.

Been very impressive, the start of the second half.

Get him off! All that criticism from the president. I blame the media for

building him up. For all the possession and

impressive performances, Northern Ireland have to keep the back door

shut. Not too much concern, shooting from 30 yards, but nice handling.

That was handball, but Atkinson says play on.

Finally, a decent kick. It bounces up and hits him on the hand. It is

hard because it comes off his leg. Don't think you can give it as a

penalty. The ball in from Dallas was excellent. Northern Ireland have

dominated. We think we can win this game three and four and we can.

Great tempo, great concentration. Corry Evans has been very smart and

tidy. There are going to be plenty of set

pieces in the second half. But, to Washington -- Conor Washington is

powerful. Backs in, draws a foul. Corry Evans, clear foul.

Another set piece for Northern Ireland. Belarus are all over the

place defensively. From being a really good unit, they are not even

looking. They attack, we attack, keep our

shape. What if we give the ball away in a bad area? We need to stop the

counterattack. Very tight at the back in these friendly

internationals. Miller McNair is almost playing like he is the

attacking midfield player. I can understand why he is laying there.

Late in the game, need a goal, 0-0 or whatever. Do you need somebody to

be able to... You see the position, needs a header. Good positioning

from Michael. He has shown enough today, shown he has that capability.

Wonderful to see here at the International Stadium. A lot of

noise. There is a whole generation who believe that Northern Ireland

were always going to do this. Great, isn't it?

Will be heading to France for part of the tenements, at least three

group games. -- tournament. Northern Ireland want a third goal.

Belarus somehow wants to get back into this game.

Doesn't go too tight, doesn't go to ground. Good defending.

Just let the green and white army takeover the commentary.

Just a word for Alan Mannus, he is sat on the bench, 11 times since his

last cap. He is as dedicated as any of the 23 man squad. He is doing

well at St Johnstone. For me, there is always that take five, keep five

or six strikers and don't take an extra keeper, it is a big risk.

Alan Mannus, his eighth cap and an international career that started 12

years ago against Trinidad and Tobago in a different era. I could

see you in that type of gear, very fetching. Don't try and argue this

as a friendly that means nothing, because it is kicking off and Kyle

Lafferty will have to be careful. He has got the red eye on, Kyle. He

tries to get in the way to stop it. They are not happy with the

challenge. I think he is saying that Kislyak may have put his head into

him. Something of nothing. Let's look at it again. Johnny was unhappy

with the challenge. Kislyak is the man in number 15. He has a little

swing. Kislyak is massively in the wrong. A couple of swipes at Dallas.

Jonny Evans reacts and rightly so as captain.

I don't think there was any doubt that Kisliak will go in the book.

And just as Will Grigg will come on, as will the Jamie Ward. We should

It looks as though Grigg has a place in the squad ahead of Boyce and

Mackay. I thought Liam Boyce would have been the choice, but Will Grigg

has had an amazing season, no doubt. You can also understand the logic

from Michael. Some of the lads not doing so well have gone off and done

well in the Scottish Premier League. Just under half an hour to play.

Still options remaining on the bench. I'll be very surprised if we

don't see Aaron Hughes for cap number nine. Man of few words. But

when he talks, everyone listens. Brilliant full-backs, brilliant

defender, can play anywhere. In my time, he was an outstanding

centre-half. He could set up history next weekend, cap 100. Let's see

what Will Grigg. The first thing he can do is that free kick from that

closing challenge by Martynovich, ends the captain a yellow card.

Where a challenge from Martynovich. If you watch this, not the nicest of

challenges. It was for. Lucky to get out there way of that one. -- it was

complementary, utility, he can play wide, Central, attacking, he had a

quiet spell at Blackbird but that is a real player in their, Corry. And

think it was Will Grigg. I've got to say, once again, stunning delivery

from Norwich, right on the money. Suspicion of foul there, he's

definitely grabbing hold of him. He was not in control of his own

evening, and the body language of Yanush sums up the side that has not

performed to the recent way they have ended their campaign, with a

couple of wins and a draw and a creditable 1-0 win against Slovakia.

What is fascinating is that Yanush, I've been watching him, decent

movement, but nothing to go on to, Northern Ireland totally dominant.

We have dictated the game. That's lovely to see. When I played here,

we did not dictate play, we have dictated the whole time tonight. We

have not seen the likes of play as we saw with Belarus against

Slovakia. And the World Cup group that is

certainly challenging, shall we say? No more or less challenging than

Northern Ireland. I think France, the Netherlands and Sweden in the

group. Not a chance for Jamie Ward there. I don't know why he plays

that pace, little slow ball through the middle in the gap. Good

opportunity. Stretching down to see if any more

changes. And the man that says leaving Arsenal and heading to

Barcelona was the worst decision he ever made. Went on to marry a pop

star from Belarus, singer in the group Topless, which possibly means

something different in Belarus line here. I'm not sure. LAUGHTER

-- than here. You would think with another five or

six, maybe seven, another seminal minutes, maybe Alan Hughes coming on

for Conor Beard, not to be sentimental, he deserves to be part

of it. -- Aaron Hughes. I'm not saying that Chris Baird has not done

I think Corry Evans has nailed that down as his squad number. Good

opportunity there. Some have fallen their way. Yanush coming off. Had

attacker. And his first duty is to take the growing. -- take the

throw-in. Evans looks up. Looking for Will

Grigg. I don't think the goalkeeper impressed either David Healy or Jim

Magilton in the first half. Jim was very to the point. David has his

goalkeeping position sorted for next season. Yes. And look there, Niall

McGinn and the ever useful Aaron Hughes. Magnificent professional,

Hughes, keeps themselves in vital ship, and other vital component of

the squad. -- vital shake. With the young members, the likes of Paddy

McNair. All the experience, just even around the HQ in France, all of

his knowledge, and they respect the younger players have for him, very,

very important. To get, if he does, and I'm sure he will, quite

incredible. Good ball by Norwood, well caught out by Belarus. I'd love

to know how many times they put the ball out of play unnecessarily,

certainly into double figures I would have guessed. So Niall McGinn,

cap 42, helped Aberdeen finished second in the Scottish Premiership,

Corry Evans can be pleased with his evening's work, and Aaron Hughes

comes on for Stewart Dallas. Pat on the back for Corry Evans. He has

done really well, Evans, outstanding, Dallas very effective,

not much in the second half than in the first half.

And could this be the last over that Aaron Hughes runs out at Windsor

Park? You would suggest so and, if so, what are we to do it. Very much

part of the furniture here, been an outstanding servant, 100 caps would

be quite incredible. First cap against Slovakia, 100th could be a

way to Slovakia. What a terrific servant. Tellingly that, you are the

font of all knowledge, no doubt. -- telling me that. Poised to make

could not would get to it, unfortunately not. -- Valadzko gave

the ball away. There could be some questions asked next week. We would

interesting to see how post-match celebrations, presuming there are

celebrations, will be managed. I'm sure the fans will stay to waive the

draw, there will be celebrations. Of course! I'll stick my neck out and

possibly expecting a cherry on top of the cake, I'm sure they would

love to see Will Grigg score. And Paddy McNair to round off a

wonderful performance with his first senior international goal. Belarus

seem to have lost interest. They have, it has been up for a run of

display. Nevertheless, we have been at it. -- poor run. We have been

good. Nor would looks as if he has never been away, excellent delivery,

makes some tackles. You sense that Norwood and Macauley, first on the

team sheet. But if it has to be, you get an injury, Baird has done well,

McNair, Evans has been terrific. Suddenly, you have selection

dilemmas, getting into, not just Slovakia, but Poland and Nice.

Confidence is an amazing thing to have, self belief and confidence.

Talking about, you know... Gordeichuk just got in behind Aaron

Hughes there. Happy to see that drift out of play.

The man that is just one. Palitsevich. For delivery. -- just

on. The atmosphere has died down, the fans waiting for the end of the

game? Yes, but good game management from us, not looked under threat.

Jim made the point of half-time, Roy Carroll making a couple of saves,

done. I heard Michael talk at an association dinner recently, very

eloquent, spoke very well, Martin O'Neill, Roy Hodgson, amongst

others, Michael spoke really well, and also with ambition for the

Euros, which was nice to hear. This is good! McLaughlin deflected it

towards Jamie Ward. Watt did not get the second lucky

Interesting, little moments, and Michael will know this, he would

have had the decision about Jim Boyce. Sorry, Liam Boyce. But maybe

things fall into place, and Michael deserves this. Good for him. If I

said Jim Boyce, I apologise. It was so noisy, I could not be sure. I am

going on about. McGinn again! And the impact sub, he does not want to

be, but has been tonight. Very effective since he came on. An out

and out winger, which you don't really play with.

I think the fans want our fourth goal! They want a second from Will

Grigg! This is wonderful! This is wonderful. Another ball from

the right-hand side and that was the least good of the this evening.

McNair has been superb. He's been superb, terrific. The referee didn't

hang about with additional time. A terrific performance, huge amounts

of joy and celebration. The smile on the face of Will Grigg. A smile on

the face of Kyle Lafferty, Steven Davis. That was, in terms of the

penultimate friendly before a championship, almost perfect. The

energy from minute one was excellent. The start of the second

half, they were wanting to get back into a rhythm. Three strikers

scored. Michael O'Neill having a word with Josh Magennis, saying he

couldn't get him on. That is what good managers do. Complete

performance. Paddy McNair absolutely outstanding. The scorer of the third

goal, Will Grigg. I don't think he wants to leave, but they are going

to have to leave for a bit. The things need to be set up. Belarus

didn't hang about. They didn't have much opposition, Northern

didn't hang about. They didn't have were excellent at times. We don't

need to talk about Belarus. For me, it is about how organised,

disciplined, energetic we were. How fluid that is times going forward.

It was a perfect performance, no injuries. Roll on Slovakia for a

much sterner test and it will be interesting to see how we cope with

that. In terms of selection, Will Grigg, Conor Washington, Jamie Ward

doesn't like to be left out. Man of the Match? For me, years. Breezes

through, Steven Davis in the first half was good, but McNair, all game,

was terrific. It is almost inconceivable he doesn't start now.

Championship, we are in for a special experience. France will be

of talk about, has Michael made the right choice in picking strikers.

There has been a lot of talk about the song, they certainly delivered

tonight. When you have a famous song penned in your name, you have to

deliver. He was under a bit of pressure. He looked slightly right

from the start. He hasn't done himself any harm at all. It goes by

the full-back, great ball. Gets the crossing, great technique. An easy

one, it is not. You have defenders running at you. It is about

concentration, great finish. I think the boys in the commentary were

reminiscing about Gerry Armstrong in 1982. You can see what it means to

Greggs. His first goal. -- Grigg. We are an air until 10pm. The Northern

Ireland team will return to the pitch very shortly with the manager

and Michael O'Neill for a big sendoff. As we have been talking

about Will Grigg, he is set to be named in Michael O'Neill's squad. He

has been injured man's goal-scoring form for his club this season,

netting 25 goals to help Wigan win promotion to the Premiership. The

Wigan fans love him so much they have penned a catchy tune we have

been hearing a lot tonight. It has been adopted by the Northern Ireland

fans. This week, some of the Northern Ireland fans gave as their

rendition of Will Grigg's On Fire. # Will Grigg is on fire, your

defence is terrified no, thank you, I've heard enough. How much stick

have they given you about the song? Not too much. I said hello to

everyone and I was humming or singing it.

It is one of those things, if I could repay the fans, that would be

something special. I am not giving him the pleasure of hearing me sing

badly. Already more than 1 million people have viewed that a viral

video across our BBC sport Nite social media platforms, Facebook,

Twitter, if you want to have a look, we won't ask you to sing it. They

aren't going to win X factor. Absolutely not. Will Grigg does look

to be named in that 23 man squad especially after tonight. He earned

the right tonight. As Jim touched on, disappointingly, boys miss out.

The boys have given everything for the campaign and they miss out. That

is why Michael gets paid to be the manager, to make the big decisions.

It looks as though he has made the big decision. He has come in on

great form, 25 goals and a promotion in the championship. At a centre

forward, you are judged by your goal scoring feats and he has done

himself no harm tonight. Northern Ireland got off to the perfect start

in the first half, led 2-0 at half-time, fax to an excellent Kyle

Lafferty goal on his 50th appearance. As we said, right place,

right time. Right where you want strikers in the six yard box.

Defence dos and goalkeepers will make mistakes. -- 's defenders.

Another great goal. The added advantage of two top is you have

more opportunity to have people in the box. He has done what all good

strikers do, but the ball in the net. Is the partnership you can see

starting in the Euros? It depends on the formation Michael wants to play,

if he goes to three, he does like the three, it gives you the option

of the two strikers. Whatever formation he plays, I think Kyle

will play. Conor, if he plays a 4-3- three, might have to wait. The

manager has put himself under pressure. Lovely pressure, because

he played back four through the campaign which was again tremendous.

History making. Now he has gone on to a three and given these guys an

opportunity to see a different system and how well it has worked

for him. I am sure you will work it out and go into a system where more

importantly the players believe it. Gives himself choices and if he does

play the two, it is a good goal-scoring, nation. Certainly, and

he has people coming off the bench you can make a difference, which is

very important. It is a rarity. Let's remind ourselves. Four years

ago, Conor Washington was a postman playing non-league football. This is

an incredible story, going to one of the biggest footballing stages of

all. Totally. Credit has to go to the lad. Managers have shown faith

and trust in him. This ladder has produced. It is no fluke. He has

worked extremely hard. Yes, it is a right of the Rovers story, but he

has worked extremely hard to put himself in this position. -- Roy of

the Rovers. He is worth a gamble. The pressure now is off these

Northern Ireland players as they watch themselves on the screen

there. A solid performers this evening. They won 3-0 and they are

coming out to say goodbye to the green and white army. It is a great

occasion. I think that is 11 games now, ten unbeaten beforehand, but it

is now 11 games. You are going into the competition for confidence.

Slovakia next week, I'm sure they will provide a sterner test next

week. It is all a confidence builder. Three goals, clean sheet.

The two goalkeepers tonight, they didn't like much through and that is

a credit on the back three players. They have so few chances. Little

breaks away and when the game became more disjointed after the

substitutions, but goalkeepers aren't really that busy, which is

great. These fans have turned up to see Kyle Lafferty and the heroes of

the Northern Ireland team work-out -- week in week out. They turned up

with not a lot of expectation for an awful long time. Now they come to

Windsor Park expecting to see their team win. We have all been through

the bad times, and that is credit to the supporters. We have all been

there. Over 50 caps and whatever else, but one thing we have always

had is greater for it -- support. Even through the bad times. 30 years

before, we qualify for a major tenements, they fully deserved this.

They are certainly going to go to France and enjoy themselves and they

will be a lot of green and colour and singing. Is France ready for the

Army? I'm not certain. This group of players are going to embrace it. It

is not going to intimidate them, they will be motivated and it is

really important, having qualified, they have shown over quite a long

period of time at international level that they have their resolute,

they are determined, they have quality where it matters. Just

listen to this role as Captain fantastic, Steven Davis leads the

Northern Ireland team out into the middle of Windsor Park in front of

their adoring fans. Steven Davis, who was presented with a lovely

honour this week from the golfer Rory McIlroy for his recognition by

Uefa. He was named in the best qualifying 11, which was quite an

honour for Steven Davis. Tonight, Northern Ireland have won 3-0. The

last goal was scored by Will Grigg, his first international goal. Will

Grigg, the man of the moment, you were on fire. What was that moment

is like? A dream come true. As soon as the song got going, it was

written in the stars. I am really pleased. It was anything but easy,

you are modest. Niall McGinn did phenomenal work for you. Oliver gave

its denial -- gave it to Nile. The won the squad is officially

announced until tomorrow, but let's just assume... Stop smiling. Let's

assume you might be on it. What will it mean to you to be part of this

historic squad in France? It will mean everything. My first game was

for the under 17 is and I have gone through the ranks and to be in that

squad will be the icing on the cake, a dream come true.

Brendan Rodgers is expressing an interest. This time in the season,

there are bits and bobs flying around. What a man, what a manager.

He has been great. What he has done for the boys, amazing. There is

history being made in the centre of the field. Off you go!

has been a tremendous Northern Ireland performance and this is now

they're big sendoff to the European Championship finals in France. The

team will now all turned to watch a special video to relive what has

been an historic time. David, Jim, what a campaign it was for Northern

Ireland. They topped the group, that is not forget. They topped the group

in top five. It was incredible, never been done before, and I

imagine it will probably be never done again. The way they went about

the group, you sort Kyle Lafferty's goal against Hungary. They were a

goal behind and the way they played and got themselves back in the game

and to win the game, it just was the momentum. The springboard for them

to go on playing. They were terrific. What will this be doing

for the players tonight? Standing in the middle of the pitch here at

Windsor Park, an unreal atmosphere, and just reliving some of these

fantastic moments from the campaign. Mike Taylor, Stephen Robinson, Jim

was obviously involved earlier in the campaign. They have to take a

lot of credit for the way the players have gone about the job and

their business. A great group of players. Some of the younger

players, the experienced players, the Steven Davis. For somebody who

has looked after himself the way he has done. The emotional high that

they will have all had the confidence that it has given them.

The belief that streams through every single one of them. Emanating

from the manager. The manager is so determined. He is so focused, he has

always been that way. He has taken his knocks and he has taken his

knocks as a player and as a manager. His belief in his players is immense

and his structure and the way he goes about his business, he relays

that in a way that they all understand. They go out and they

perform and the manic -- in the manner in which they do. He has

worked absolute wonders. An emotional night for the players and

staff. He has been through all the emotions as a manager. He came in,

the first campaign was love for the players, but it is always tough for

the manager. He probably took a bit of flak. People showed a lot of

belief in him. Michael more than anybody had a lot of belief and

visibility to turn this around. You see how much it means to him and how

proud the years to be the manager of the country. We hope to hear from

Michael O'Neill very shortly. We are staying on at, especially extended

programme until 10pm. Kyle Lafferty scored seven goals during that

qualifying campaign. Tremendous record and now the big hope is that

he will perform on the big stage for Northern Ireland. I don't think they

have any fear. I think they have shown that they can play, they have

shown great belief. They have an understanding now within the squad.

I think what it is is that they all understand this competition. There

is no complacency in the squad. There is a desire and an ambition to

get better. They go in there prepared, they are going to get out

of the group. There is no doubt. I firmly believe that the manager has

instilled that into them. There is a real possibility. They know how

tough it is. Poland and Germany, top class. This group of players, led by

a manager, has a real desire, belief. They are words that are

bandied about in football like confetti at times, but it has been

proven that these guys now, 11 games unbeaten, unbelievable. Never

thought I would be sitting here thinking that. On the back of a

disappointing campaign, to go into this campaign and win the group,

tremendous. The goal to the European Championship finals, fireworks

sendoff. They dare to dream. Can they get out of the group stages? I

think we all firmly believe that they can. That is not putting

pressure on the manager or players. Three or four points could get you

out of the group. Michael and the players will be going there with

huge belief. You get a result in the first game against Poland, you go

into the second game against Ukraine, they are beatable. Pollard

are beatable and even Germany. The way the boys are going into it, go

there with no fear. -- Poland are beatable. Go there and enjoy it.

These pictures of course will be firmly etched into Northern Ireland

sporting history. Three Northern Ireland squad is before them have

been two major championship finals, 58, 82, 86. It is 30 years since

Northern Ireland have been to a major final. This is the first time

they have been to the European Championships and through the years,

these are the pictures tonight that we will look at for ever. They were

a great -- they were great sides. They went into the tournaments again

with managers who had a great belief in their players. The players

embraced, to get on board. They went in believing they could win games.

This manager has done exactly that. You can feel the emotion. We are

sitting in the studio, we can't really feel what it is like. You can

sense that these guys are so emotional about it, they have come

through a terrific campaign. There is so much hard work that goes into

this. Michael and the staff have prepared the team fantastically

well. There is a feeling of togetherness. It is certainly

something that I felt when I went into the group, as well. It says,

together we are one. There seems to be a real bond within this Northern

Ireland team, something very special. There certainly is. The

players stand there watching, next to each other. Some of the squads in

years gone by, the lads might have been messing about and not watching,

not clued in. The fans desire a night like this, just for a great

sendoff. -- the fans deserve. This is a lovely sideshow tonight to wish

the team good luck, but it is what happened on the pitch tonight that

will live on. Preparation. The manager will appreciate this, most

certainly, as do the players. But he will think about the game. He will

be thinking about his system. What will please him is that every single

person gave him something tonight. Probably more headaches than he

would have liked, but he enjoys those. It looks like everyone has

come out of the game with no injuries. You go forward, the squad

tomorrow, everybody has a fair idea what it will be. The 23 run the

flight, deservedly so. They have always done -- they have all done

something in the campaign and they deserve to go to France with the

best supporters behind them. Look at these people, loving it. Michael

my tenure as manager. It is the nature of football, the injury he

picked up will keep him out of the tournament. Have you ever

experienced a night like this and did you get to enjoy it at 2-0 at

half-time? Yes, it couldn't have gone better. We got hit early. Great

for Kyle and Connor to get goals and then for Greg to -- Grigg to come

on. We have to play about with things. It was a perfect night. The

IFA president saying 3-5- two was the way to go, will we be looking at

that? We have the ability to change. We ask people to play position, we

were asking Dallas to play slightly out of position. They do a great job

for us. Great performances, Paddy McNair was outstanding throughout.

What we got tonight was fantastic. You announces quad officially

tomorrow. There is a whole lot of speculation. We're not looking for

an exclusive, but I imagine Kyle Lafferty and Conor Washington have

done that causes no harm at all. Connor Washington has scored two in

three games which makes a statement. Greg has been very patient and sat

on a lot of benches, but he is going into the championship next year and

got himself on the scoresheet tonight. Have you told the 23? We

announce the squad tomorrow publicly and it wouldn't be fair to let

players know after a game. That was obvious the very difficult for you.

Yes, the five lads made a big contribution and they will be

disappointed to miss out. Unfortunately, you have to whittle

it down to 23. All of those players have an international career ahead

of them. That is the message. Come September, they will be on the radar

and they will be back. Aaron Hughes, 99th cap. Can we reasonably assume

that all things being equal, you make -- he might make his hundredth

in Slovakia? The one thing I will say is that he doesn't want them

given to him, he wants to end them. Still a big asset to me. Maybe he's

not a starting player, but he is still a big part of this squad and
