Amsterdam, one of the great capitals of Europe. Home to a world football

powerhouse. The Netherlands are heading to Brazil. Wales history

against the Netherlands is woeful. It did not get any harder than

Holland away. It was a good experience and that is how you

learn. We have played against some tough teams, but we have done it

really well. We want to keep the momentum going. We learn more when

we play the best teams. Now Alan Ramsey of Gareth Railton night. I am

looking forward to this. I am not thinking about what happened 15

years ago. New players coming through. I am looking forward to it.

Good evening and welcome to Match Of The Day Wales. It is the Netherlands

final friendly before they fly out to Brazil. A test for Chris

Colman's Young and inexperienced side. Please welcome our guests

tonight. Robert Earnshaw and Barry Horne.

Great to see you, what will Chris Colman get out of tonight? It is a

question that has been asked so many times, in the last ten or 15 years

in particular. You would have to say the honest answer would be not a

great deal. But we're looking forward to a championship campaign

which most of us believe we can do well in. There will be times when

Chris will not have anybody available and that is inevitable.

James Chester, we have got Huws, who was sensational on his debut. Tough

game away from home, give them a further taste for international

football. The team he has put out is recognisable as a Welsh team. It

will be a useful exercise. But it is a different prospect if Gareth

Bale, Aaron Williams and others were playing, because this is a build-up

to the European qualifiers? Huge. We don't get any better than playing

against the best. You play some of the lower ranked teams, but as soon

as you play the big teams, it does not matter if you lose, I always

feel you get a better in those games as a player. That is the big thing.

All of the Young boys will take from this game. You cannot get any better

experience than playing against Robin van Persie, Wesley Sneijder

and Robben. A lot of end of season withdrawals. Let's get the latest

from the Welsh camp. While most players recharge their

batteries, Chris Colman's men head into their final game beef or the

euro qualifiers against the Dutch. Led by captain, Joe Allen. Nothing I

thought about, the way we play, Joe Allen is at the heart of that. He is

one of the bravest players I have worked with. He always wants the

ball. It is the sort of thing you might dream of. I have not set a

target of having miss this chance, I was thrilled to get the opportunity.

Most of the headlines have been about the ups and teams, Ashley

Williams, Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale are missing. This game was

maybe a bridge too far for him. But nine times out of ten he is with us.

I don't see us having a problem. He may miss 12. Withdrawals provide

opportunities for the likes of Tom Lawrence and James Chester. They are

keen to impress. If he takes me, it is one of the reasons I have chosen

to do this, play against top teams like Holland, Belgium. To test

yourself against the best players in the world. We have a lot of Young

players in the squad. It is not a squad of 23, it will be 35 or 40 we

will have to choose from. It does not get any harder than Holland

away. It is a good experience and that is how you learn. The dragon

has hardly fired against the Dutch, six games and six defeats. But the

current squad have no fears. We have still got a very powerful squad and

a good squad. Missing a couple of players, but these things happen in

this part of the season. We will go in as underdogs on their own patch

as well. It is always a difficult task. But we have worked well will

stop some good players in this squad. We will be looking to put in

a good team performance. We have got to stamp our authority on this game

and let them know, as good as they are, we're not there to make the

numbers up. I am not going into the game with my hands tied, panicking.

I am looking forward to it. We will learn a lot and we are going to

express ourselves and get a good result. The team that this match

against the Netherlands will be different to the one Chris Colman

will be hoping to put out on the 9th of September when the Euro 2016

qualifiers start against Andorra. Let's hear from the Welsh manager.

James Chester in the starting line-up? Yes, he has plied his trade

with Hull City in the Premier League. The last six months I have

had a chat with James and Steve Bruce. James, to be fair to him

prior to arriving with us last week, he had two training sessions

two days before the FA Cup final. Five weeks before that he had not

done anything because of a hamstring problem. It's not that we just got a

good player and a new addition, he has a greater mentality. 50,000

expectant Dutch fans hoping to give their side a good sendoff, it will

be a new experience for your players in this environment? Of course, but

what is there to be afraid of? If you don't want to be in this

environment, some of the players we are per against are some of the best

in the world. It is a great experience. We are here to make sure

we keep our momentum going. I am looking forward to tonight. Good

luck. Barry Horne, you mention James

Chester and Chris was talking about him, but I want to talk about Joe

Allen, who is integral in the Liverpool team. He is still a Young

man making his way at Liverpool. Don't forget what he did at Swansea

as well prior to going to Liverpool. Chris, quite rightly described him

as a brave player. Not physically courageous, but somebody who will

always want the ball and rarely give it away. In international football,

that is what you need. He is quite right, somebody in that position

should be the captain. What is it like at the end of season

international friendlies? Remember doing a match you when you scored

two goals in the last ten minutes against Trinidad and Tobago, when

Gareth Bale made his debut. The atmosphere was strange because

Trinidad and Tobago were off to the World Cup. What is the atmosphere

like in the dressing room at the end of a hard season? It is difficult.

You imagine the last games of the season for a lot of the boys would

have been a month ago. They probably would not have done much training.

It is not nice because you are on your own. Once you leave your club,

you can do that training but you need the match sharpness. But you

don't get that. Obviously they have been training over the past week or

so, which is going to be good. But it is not good separation. If you

play so far after the end of the season, it is worse for the player,

because then you are physically not at your best. We have a live studio

audience in and lots of them are itching to ask questions. Let's go

to Sian from Port Talbot. How big a low is it that Gareth Bale and Aaron

Ramsey are not playing today? Massive, in any game. It is

inevitable they will miss games. They both have fantastic records. In

the last 15 games, Wales have scored 12 goals and I think they have

scored three quarters of them and maybe have made the other three.

Quite a big loss. I would expect them to play in all of The Games

they possibly can when the qualifiers start. Do you think we

will see him in international friendlies? We saw him last season,

he had that horrendous season when he traipsed all over the place with

Wales. His appearance record is good, he is very grounded. He wants

to play for Wales. There is no point in falling out with Arsene Wenger or

Real Madrid. He will play the game and he will give what he has to give

in the hope that he receives him when he needs him. But I think the

two lads do want to turn up and play for their country. I know the

Netherlands would be there this international friendly. Let here now

from Ian Hunter who has been with the Dutch masters.

Meet Louis van Gaal, the boss, manager and authority. He is a

greater manager, has his own style. He has one big things. I respect

him. Every single training, he is the best coach we have ever had.

After the World Cup he takes over at Manchester United. So can he leave a

legacy like this? What a goal! That volley helped Ruud

Gullit lift the trophy for the Dutch. Their last tournament win.

They want to be contenders in Brazil but will Wales provide a strong

enough test? Yes. It is better we have the best team from Wales.

Because we need resistance. I have said to my Lord, they have to insist

on playing with Gareth Bale and Ramsay, but I don't know why, if it

is injuries or holidays? If it is a holiday I will be disappointed. I

think without these players, Wales are weaker. Wales will warm up

fodder for a friendly six years ago, their last meeting. It finished 2-0

to the Dutch and they hope they can shoot up van Percie and company

before the serious business. I have seen Wales play against Iceland and

Finland. I like them. They want to play the ball. It is not a bad team.

But with Gareth Hale, it is always better. It will be interesting to

see if the Manchester United chase for Louis van Gaal has an effect on

the Netherlands World Cup performance. What an atmosphere it

will be in Amsterdam. Let's hear from Kevin Ratcliffe.

Kevin, what a buzz around the place. It has been awhile since Wales have

played in an atmosphere like this? Absolutely,

from Kevin Ratcliffe. Kevin, what but they should be able

to cope with it. If you are not used to this, does it inspire you but

does it intimidate? You hope it would inspire them. I recognise

country that produces good players. Not at their best but they produce

good sides. We have a weakened side but it gives a chance to others.

What do you make of the 11 Chris Colman has gone with? When you are

missing the likes of Ramsey and Bale, I know Ashley Williams is

missing, but really the back four is a back four. It's just the midfield

and the wide players, or if Bale is up front, how do you adapt if you

lose quality players? You're not going to replace them with the same

quality. You've got to replace them in some way. In the land of total

football here, Ajax and all that, do you expect a positive performance

from Wales or will it be defensive, because the Netherlands have real

talent, real class? We might have to come somewhere like this and get a

point to qualify, away from home, to a country like the Dutch or maybe

the Belgians. We have to be maybe able to adapt and make it hard for

teams to get in and get amongst us and score goals. There's maybe a

plan that maybe Chris can actually try out, I'm not sure what he's

thinking. But he's thinking a little bit more positive. He's trying to

think that - well, you never know, we might get something. It will be

tough tonight. This is their last game before they go to Brazil. Thank

you. Good to hear from Kevin, part of our

commentary team this evening. We will cross to Amsterdam shortly. Rob

Philips is the man in the commentary position today. Barry, what do you

think about this Manchester United chase for Louis Van Gaal, people in

Holland are suggesting that perhaps that is going to be have -- going to

have a big effect on their quest to get to the final again. The first

thing is Van Gaal is a strong enough Ken Clarker to to deal with --

character to deal with it. Doesn't take much to upset the Dutch and

send them off course. If you read the comments coming out of the Dutch

camp recently, everyone's on the same page with the message - it's a

strong squad. They're together. That's all you hear from them.

Because in the past, they've shot themselves in the foot so many

times. Last time Van Gaal was in charge, I think he said they don't

need a manager, they need a social worker. He's been there. He knows

the effects that can have. I'm pretty certain he's wise enough and

clever enough and strong enough to keep all of that to one side and to

keep the group together. Because it's a really tough start for them.

They take on Spain, who obviously beat them in the final in 2010. Do

you fancy them to get out of the group? I do, yeah. I fancy them.

Obviously, they'll be one of the favourites, but no-one really

fancies them to really win it. They'll put three or four teams

before them, but for me, they'll be a threat, because of their

experience at the last World Cup as well. It will be interesting. But

for me, I don't think it will throw them off with the manager and he's

leaving and everything like this. I don't think it will be a big factor.

If anything, it will be a few egos whether they keep in tact or not.

They should be, because they all - I think it's a different mentality to

ten years ago, a Dutch team of ten years ago to now, because I think

egos were bigger then than now. Sometimes you can get that arrogance

and ego and everything, but you can still play within the team.

Absolutely. Any squad with Robin Van Persie, Connor Roberts and Wesley

Sneijder in is a very good squad -- robbe. Let's talk some more

questions from the audience. Good evening to Kerry in Merthyr. What's

your question. You mentioned James Chester already, which other

debutante members of the squad are you looking forward to seeing? I'm

going to fudge that a bit. He's not a debutante, but I look forward to

seeing Emyr Huws. If he plays anything like the maturity and

composure he did last time out, on another night that would have been a

man of the match performance. Gareth Bale was playing so it didn't Was so

happen. Special about Emyr Huws. He's been on loan at Birmingham

City. Scored fantastic goals in the championship as well. A lot of the

ex-internationals are saying he's so comfortable on the ball. He's got

great composure for such a young player. You can see that in the

international. I think what is even more impressive is that he was asked

to play a role that night. Maybe he's not played that much at club

level. In fact, it's quite different to the role he's played at club

level. He's went in there and his understanding of the game and what's

required, you'd think he was 28, not 18 or 19, whatever he is. It was a

really mature performance. He has fantastic understanding of the game

and great gamecraft as well as the natural ability and the touch and

vision that he clearly has. As you said, that is invaluable, to get an

opportunity like this to take on the Netherlands with their brilliant,

brilliant footballers, a great opportunity for players like Emyr

Huws. Yeah, he's going to be one that I'm going to be interested to

see how he does. I thought actually in his debut, I thought he was

brilliant, really comfortable. I thought the one thing that I really

liked was that he wanted the ball. Because when a player is nervous and

stuff, that's when you kind of see that, whether he's capable of going

further or not and on that night, he wanted the bawl. He was willing to

-- ball. He was willing to dictate the game as well. It will be

interesting to see if he can do the same thing tonight. The players are

standing by at the Amsterdam arena. Kickoff very shortly.

COMMENTATOR: It's headed home by Andy King! Oh, wonderful goal by

Richards. Yeah, here we go. The arena is

filling up. It's a great night for the Netherlands. They say goodbye to

their players as they head into the World Cup playing Australia, Chile

and the open against Spain, the holders of the FIFA World Cup, a

week Saturday. What an opportunity that is going to be for these

Netherlands' players, especially some of the younger players. Some of

the players we know all about here, Jonathan De Guzman, at Swansea City

and David Vaughan, goalkeeper -- and the goalkeeper. A great season for

the Swans. I suspect we will know a great deal about the lesser known

players tonight. Because a lot of them have been linked with moves to

the Premier League. It will be interesting to see them tonight as

well. Just a question about the timing of these friendlies, not just

for Wales, but the Netherlands. Italy in their friendly on Saturday

night, they lost a player, who broke his leg. It's very, very late for

some of these players who are heading to the World Cup. Yeah,

yeah. It is, but if you're going to the World Cup, it's good, because

you're going to the World Cup. This is your preparation. This is your

final days where you can really just tidy a few things. If you're not,

like Wales, it's terrible. As a player, I don't think there's one

lair in the -- player in the Wales squad thinking they're at 100%.

Probably they'll be at 60%, 65%. It's horrible. You go into that game

thinking it's amazing, I love it, but I'm not really at 100%. So

hopefully, I don't get injured, you know? Because you have that thought

at the back of your mind. You still put everything into it, but that's

how it is because of the timing of it. The other thing that's been very

interesting in the build up to this game is listening to Chris Coleman

talking about not being overreliant on Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey.

Chris is in a difficult position. Any team in the world, as we've

seen, even the best in the world, they're not overreliant on Gareth

Bale. He was handy for them. 99% of the teams in the world would be

overreliant on rams yip and Bailey. -- Ramsey and Bale. He's treading a

fine balance between admitting they're important but when he's

without them, you can't be too open because then the rest of the lads

have to step up and take their place. We hope that Gareth Bale and

Aaron Ramsey are fit for the qualifiers, but it will dictate the

way he plays and his style, if both players are unavailable? I think

he's impressed style of play on the team. There's no replacements for

them, but people will play in those positions and try to keep the

consistency. It's the same. The formation will be the same. It will

be 4-3-3. Pretty much, it's not changed for the last four years or

so. Actually, he'd probably play the same as the Dutch tonight. It will

be interesting who does the better. They will be very similar tonight. I

don't think it's going to change. Because you come to the qualifiers,

if someone's missing, Gareth Bale is amazing, Aaron Ramsey - brilliant,

but at some point, you've got to rely on everybody else to do well as

well. Because other-wise, if you rely on those two, then that's not,

obviously going into it with the best, obviously, way of winning the

game. They're brilliant players, but they're going to be missing at some

point. You've got to have people that step up. We had the same thing

when Ryan Giggs was involved. It was always like Ryan Giggs because he's

just at that level, so good, that when he's missing, you have to add

people that step in. Terrific scenes in Amsterdam. Let's join our

commentary team. COMMENTATOR: A very warm welcome to

the Amsterdam arena. As the Netherlands look forward to their

trip to Brazil, they are saying goodbye to one of their greats. He

was E part of the 2010 World Cup final when they lost to Spain. He's

retiring now. Eight domestic titles, 79 caps to his name. There's a

little presentation going on to Van Bomel now. A legend of the Dutch

game. This crowd will soon rise to one of their greats, a really

tenacious tackler. I don't know whether we can expect anything like

that tonight, given the proximity of that game in Salvador in nine days'

He will get a bunch of flowers as a sendoff. Kevin is alongside me. Did

you have this sendoff, Kevin? No, no, I didn't, certainly didn't. I

didn't manage one of them off-coloured gold caps. No, it's a

great occasion for the lad. He's a fine player. I think you hit the

nail on the head, tenacious player. Seemed to find a few scuffles in his

time. He has, certainly has. He will take his place alongside the

Netherlands captain for the anthems. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

SO A STIRRING ATMOSPHERE HERE AT THIS SUPERB ARENA, -- a stirring

atmosphere here at this superb arena.

The teams just crossing and the Netherlands side, led by their

record goal scorer, Van Persie. Gabbidon, earning his 14th. Robin

van Persie, just ready to approach Joe Allen for the toss. The rhetoric

is from Turkey. -- the referee. What a proud moment for Joe Allen. What a

busy week for Joe Allen. On Saturday he gets married. He was asked last

night what would be the worst speech he had to make in the dressing room,

or the wording on Saturday to his long-time fiance? He said, " I am

going to win both of them". A great night for the Welsh skipper.

Fantastic occasion for him. Ain't part of the squad for a number of

years. We could see this coming with the absentees of Gareth Bale and

maybe the only other one would be Danny Gabbidon. But when he has been

given the armband in the past, Danny Gabbidon has not responded to it.

But it is nice to see him back. Without a club now so a bit of a

shop window for him. Wales to kick off in their white shirts and red

shorts of course. Kicking off a bit late because of the formal

presentation. This crowd is expected and as Wales get the game underway.

The Netherlands, just nine days before their World Cup opener in

Spain. Against a Wales team whose horizons are very different. Their

next competitive match is a Euro 2016 match against Andorra in 97

days time. Sneijder will be playing off Robben and van Percie. Looks

like Joe Allen will be trying to lay that little block in front of the

two centre backs. Netherlands manager, Louis Van Harle has changed

the line-up of his side. He has been playing with five at the back. He

has gone with four today. Daryl Janmaat is playing in midfield and

making a good run forward. Challenge by Danny Gabbidon. Straightaway, an

early mistake by Neil Taylor, giving the ball away. Daryl Janmaat,

capitalising, but I thought he could have done better. And very

influential player. A game changer. You don't want him coming in on his

left foot. 22 goals for the Netherlands. The Netherlands have 91

goals in their starting line-up. Wales have eight! Church may be

lonely tonight. He did well. Being with Charlton this season.

A touch of van Percie, the Netherlands's record goalkeeper.

Hennessy had to react smartly. Great bit of skill from Robin van Persie.

Skipping past a couple of players. Early warning signs. They will have

a lot of the ball. They will have two nullify their chances on goal.

Hennessy needs to be pushing the ball a little bit further away. Van

Percie is one of four players in this Dutch side to play in the 2010

World Cup final. They have a few big lads playing for them. Leroy Fer,

all of the back four or over six foot. Van Percie coming inside. He

favours his left foot, but a lot of bodies in front of Hennessy. He will

have two push it a little bit further away.

Gabbidon looks for Jonny Williams. Ron Vlaar, the Aston Villa centre

back. The Netherlands beat Ghana on Saturday after an 1-1 draw with

Ecuador. Worryingly for Wales, Robin van Persie scored in both of those

games. He is looking for that again. Gunter was there that time. Wales

have lost possession. How much will they go at Wales, do you think,

Kevin? Given the fact their next game is so important? It is

important they will want to get off to a flying finish, really. Little

farewell to the fans and appreciation. They usually take a

good following wherever they go, but it is not as strong as it has been

in the past. Over 80 goals. Sneijder, van Percie, Robben. As

good as anywhere. Any strikeforce in the world has got those many goals

at international level. They have players on the bench with 22 each.

Not to mention Huntelaar, who is on 34 goals. They are on the bench. Six

substitutes tonight for both sides. The chances are, Wales and will use

occurs. Chris Colman is conscious of the fact the Dutch have been in camp

for a few weeks. Some of these Welsh players have returned from breaks

after a busy season. So physically, it will be testing for them. That is

what Louis van Gaal wants. He once resistance, he wants his side to

face a test. You have also got Dirk Kuyt on the bench as well.

Gabbidon earning his 49th tonight for Wales. He is on the brink of the

Golden you talked about. He has been missing for a while. You would think

the gap when he was missing, he could the 60 plus. He did retire

from international foot ball and was convinced to come back by Gary

Speed. This is the seventh meeting between Wales and the Netherlands.

It is fair to say, it has not been a happy hunting ground. The

Netherlands have won six out of seven. Including the frightening 7-1

in Eindhoven in 1996. Kit Symons, Chris's number two played in that

game. Man of the match was Neville Southall.

Blind will play left back when they take on Spain in nine days in

Salvador. Robben has beaten the Welsh defence. Wasted a golden

opportunity. He takes this really well. I think he hesitates because

he thinks he is in an offside position. Fantastic ball through to

him. Gabbidon is just a little bit deeper. Chester was caught out a

little bit. Just back on him and not in front. I watched him in the warm

up and he was finishing some lovely sort of takes, people passing it

into him. A little bit of movement. His finishing was better than Robin

van Persie's. They were practising free kicks and the top finisher was

Sneijder. 22 goals for him. He was finishing in real style. This is

James Chester, the Welsh debutant. FA Cup goal for Hull City. Church

makes that his. Good play from Simon Church. The first noise from the

1000 Welsh supporters. That was stupid by Leroy Fer. Opportunity for

Wales to test the Dutch. Chester is going up. The Dutch media are not

impressed with their defence. Powerful midfield, but there are

questions over the defence. Can Wales create something here? It is

Joe Allen on the ball. It is not cleared. It has been lost. Chester

has two raced back. That was half an opening. Rogne player for the ball

to fall at his feet in the will stop -- wrong player. Sneijder darts

forward to the edge of the penalty area. Bruno Martins Indi's cross.

Chester is cool under pressure. Nope then babies. List of absentees,

Gareth Vale of course. Aaron Ramsey, Ashley Williams, Ben Davies.

You look at the team, we have got Neil Taylor who will never let you

down. Lovely ball by Joe Allen. Out to Jonathan Williams. Williams wins

the first corner. Lovely touch from Jonny Williams. Has been on loan at

Ipswich for some of the season. His six cap tonight. Ledley looks to

cause the Dutch more problems. Cillessen just got a hand to that.

I think he had to. Two players coming in right behind,

Gabbidon being one of them. Ledley has stayed wide from the corner.

Church wants it in the middle. Williams, a little darting run.

Taylor comes into it. Will that be picked up by King? It

is. Can he make anything of it? He does. He does really well here, Andy

King. That ball back in and surprised everybody by having a

touch and putting an early ball in. This corner comes across. Gabbidon

is coming in. Cillessen made the number one spot

at Ajax his own this season. The corner is deep. Chester was

going for that. It was beyond him. Can't see how the referee can make a

decision there on where the position is. Chester is maybe a bit eager,

first cap. I was about to say it's quite quiet

here. 14 minutes played. It will have been Chris Coleman's plan. What

he set out to do is make it as difficult as he can for them. He

knows he will be limited with opportunities in the game. Maybe if

they can take one, but he's actually got every man back, behind the ball.

But very deep as well, a lot deeper than we've seen them in the past.

Simon Church may be dropping into his own half by a good 20 yards, at

times. I'm not sure he meant it to go that

far, but Gabbidon was there. Chris Chester is quietly confident

on the ball. Good play by Taylor. Ledley gets it ahead of De Jong.

This is good play by Wales, showing no fear.

I think King coming on and tried a little flick. The ball's coming in

at too much pace, maybe from Joe Ledley. Joe has had a fantastic move

to Crystal Palace, been very inspirational. On the losing side

just once out of 14 times there. What a good signing.

Bruno Martins Indi was the one who went forward. Quite a character.

Actually born in Portugal. There's the next Manchester United

manager, Louis Van Gaal. Remains to be seen how many more games he'll

have in charge of the Netherlands. No Patrick Klievert with him. No, he

was in good form on Monday. I think the media in Britain can get ready

for some jousting, shall we call it that? He likes a good scrap with

journalists. I did venture to talk about Manchester United with him,

but he was having none of it. Actually, Ryan Giggs was all I

wanted, something on Ryan Giggs, but he said, "No, when I get to

Manchester, I will talk about what I expect from Ryan Giggs."

I think with first quarter of an hour out of the way, Chris Coleman

will be relatively content with the goalless score line. Not too many

scares. Is this the way they will play in Brazil? It's maybe not that

they don't get on teams, don't put them under pressure. Maybe they have

to sit off and wait for the ball to come to you. Completely different

type of football over there. They leave tomorrow. Those Dutch fans

will be hoping they have something to be happy about in Salvador, which

is where they play their first game. It's called the capital of

happiness, actually. You do feel that first game will be pivotal in

Group B against Spain. Tough group. There will be a big side out early

on. Hennessey has hardly seen any action

in 2014. Played the last game for Crystal Palace of the season,

following his January move from Wolves.

They needed maybe another body in the box. He wasn't in the original

squad, then rang up Chris Coleman and said, no I'm not injured, I'm

fit. He was happy to have him. 53rd cap tonight.

Hennessey didn't know whether to stick or twist. Johnny Williams is

fouled off the ball. Van Persie pulls off lovely onto the centre

back, onto his shoulder, testing you all the time. 43 goals and his 85th

cap tonight, that is a skaering strike rate. -- staggering. The two

lads alongside him as well, they've got 20 goals plus each.

away. Nothing new there then! It looked good, but it was quite hard

as well. They have been watering it. King looks for the run of Ledley.

Vlaar gets there. Robson-Kanu in support. Ledley

wanted it in the middle. Been sloppy at times, have the

Dutch. It will be interesting to see how

long Wales can keep up this pace. You have to remember, some of these

lads haven't played for three weeks, three-and-a-half weeks some of them.

Just looking to hold onto possession at the moment.

The crowd interesting rather than enthralled. There's not a lot

happening. Wales have set their stall out. They've got plenty of

bodies behind the ball, making it difficult. They're going nowhere.

They're just going across the pitch. It's all in Wales' half. It's not in

the attacking third. The whistles might tell you everything.

But they could be in here. Robben, he's drilled it over the

top. What an opportunity! It took a deflection. A lovely ball. Robben

really should be scoring there. He does everything right, keeps his

composure. Good defending in the end.

Van Persie had a shooting opportunity there.

Gunter and Gabbidon ensured he couldn't profit from it. Robben will

try to keep the pressure on. They've messed that up. Williams

breaks away for Wales. They've survived that little scare.

He must be a strong boy to knock Hal Robson-Kanu off.

There's Robben. He will feel he should have scored. He gets away. He

does everything right. Then, I think it's Chris Chester with the final

touch on it. Gunter is getting back as well. It's Chris Gunter, I think.

Here come the Dutch again. Gabbidon throws his body on the line. The

Dutch are just starting to crank it up now. Maybe they were fired by the

whistles. I think they're just starting to find space in behind.

They got in on two opportunities there, in behind. A word with

Robson-Kanu. I think he felt he was fouled. Oh, he's had his shorts

ripped, that's why he's complaining. What's wrong with a bit of leg.

We're in Amsterdam. It's fair to see, you've probably

seen more revealing sights in Amsterdam. I think we are now. There

we are. Despite what Amsterdam is famous

for, the crowd are thrilled with Hal Robson-Kanu taking off his shorts,

there we are! All sorted. No embarrassment there. No.

Andy King, driven back. They have done well. Not panicked. Quite

pleased with the way they have set out their stall. We knew they would

get chances, but we have limited them and caused a few problems

ourselves. Just wonder how much the Dutch can put in. They don't want to

get any injuries. We saw last week, the Italian who was injured, out for

the World Cup. You still need games and match practice. This is Daley

Blind, plays his football here that Ajax. Arjen Robben. The deflection

took it wide. Nothing you can do there as a goalkeeper. Wayne

Hennessey was wrong-footed. Plenty of bodies there. Arjen Robben

getting away. Has done everything right. Can he come across his body?

Abe Brilliant defensive clearance by Gunter. That could have gone

anywhere. It is a goal kick. The possession stats of 55 for the

Netherlands at the moment. Not bad. When we do get the ball, we do put a

lot of bodies behind it. The last time Wales were in the Netherlands,

it was Rotterdam in 2008. Allen bursts forward. He is relishing the

captaincy tonight, Joe Allen. Williams. He has got to use people

around him. Chris Gunter was screaming for the ball. Now they

have to beware. Challenge I Chester. Has got a bump, van Percie. Has been

relatively quiet. The Orange army rise again to lift their team. A

little bit like a training game at the moment. Van Percie, trying to

make something happen. It breaks for Robben, who opens the scoring. He

missed one chance, he does not miss a second. And Arjen Robben, his 23rd

goal for the Netherlands. He has broken the deadlock. I have seen him

finishing in the warm up. This typifies what he has been Pratt to

sing. Van Percie has an early shot into a post which Hennessy had

covered. It came back out. First time from Arjen Robben. Quality

strike from a quality player. It is instinct, he just hits it. It took a

deflection. Yes, but it was the reaction from him. All of a sudden

it lands at his feet. Smash! You can keep the Netherlands quiet for some

time. They were quiet for what, 30 minutes? It is one of them, another

couple of minutes and you see it through to half-time. If you are the

Welsh manager, you will be thinking, no more goals before half-time.

Possession was pretty close to parity. But Wales don't have the

firepower to hurt the Dutch when they get into those positions. Also,

no disrespect to anybody in the side, they have not got the pace

Gareth Vale has. Not many players in the world have. That is a foul.

Allowed to go on. The manager will have been encouraged by the opening

half an hour or so. He will fear it now. Did well, Danny Gabbidon. Robin

van Persie, nine years ago today made his debut for the Dutch. Two

world cups, two European Championships. If they go a good

distance in Brazil, you fancy him being among the leading

goal-scorers. If they are to proceed further, he has got to. The first

stages will be difficult for them. They have got a tough group. They

might have the firepower but they might also leak goals. That is the

worry in the Netherlands, about their defence. But they have the

lead now and you feel their confidence will build because of

that. They beat Ghana last weekend 1-0 and before that they drew 1-1

with Ecuador. Maybe what sums up the game is a Mexican wave has started.

Usually starts when nothing else is happening. Orange shirts converge on

Williams but he got away until Daley Blind fouled him. It was always

getting away from him. You always give a defender a chance to have a

little nibble at you. Not a lot of movement. Gunter gets the free kick.

Robson-Kanu moves inside on this far side. You cannot see him at the

moment but when Neil Taylor moves on. That is the way out. Instead,

Wales go backwards. Not sure of the point of that.

Gabbidon was on his own penalty spot when he received that. Church has

made the run. Needs to go beyond Ron Vlaar will stop good closing down

from Simon Church. Wales will hope to have a Sam Vokes

by the time they play Andorra. Suffered a bad injury towards the

end of Burnley's successful promotion season. It will be touch

and go but you do feel weird Sam Vokes, they are a different

proposition going forward. He is a great presence. He had a great

season last year, can he replicate that? There is Jonathan de Guzman.

Had a hamstring injury in training on Monday, but will be on the plane

to Brazil. The way Louis van Gaal was talking in the wake, if he is

fit to play against Spain, he well. -- he will. Felt that. Not too

pleased with it either, was he? Neil Taylor did well, kicked it against

his foot. Will be interesting to see what happens with Neil Taylor this

summer. Also Wayne Hennessey as well. He needs to be playing regular

first-team football. Nigel De Jong is powerful. Former

Manchester City player. Arjen Robben, terrific goal record. 23rd

tonight. Did score against Wales in 2008. So it is not a new experience

for the 30-year-old. Blind has made a run forward. Van

Percie was inches away. I know I saw Arjen Robben finishing, but I also

saw Robin van Persie. You can see what he was trying to do and where

he was trying to direct it. Always going away from goal. Great bit of

movement. Janmaat with the overlapping run. Hal Robson-Kanu

fell asleep a little bit. Wales will want to regroup, maybe get some new

blood on as well. What you cannot do is put them on soon. It gets a bit

disjointed. Also, you don't get to see which ones are flagging a little

bit, and which ones are not. Some of these players have had a long, tough

season. Somebody like Joe Ledley who has come down from Celtic where he

has had good possession of a ball. It has been relatively, I would

say, easier than it has been battling the wind against Crystal

Palace. They can't find an orange shirt.

Once again it's this run. He gets in behind. Just fallen a sleep a little

bit. Can Neil Taylor help him out a little bit? Those sort of runs, you

can see why they call him the Dutch Danny Alves. Everything seems to be

coming down this right side. When they play five at the back,

they will have Blind. At the moment, they're going

central. They're very patient on the ball.

They're having to be, because we have 11 men behind the ball. Van

Persie is offside. Great header by Chris Gunter. Even

though he was offside, Van Persie. This is the goal again.

Good strike. It hits Wayne Hennessey, I think, on the way

through from Robben. It's an awkward bounce off Chester as well. It was a

great reaction, great finish. As we approach halftime, Kevin, from

a Wales' perspective, what do you make TV? I still honest -- Make of

it? I think we've limited them. The chance they've had, they've taken

it. The one thing is we can't see ourselves creating chances. When we

do break, we're that far away from their o goal mouth we have nobody

with electrifying pace to cause a problem. The main concern is if we

come out in the second half and it's 1-0 with ten minutes to go, will

Chris put another striker on? He's had a lonesome time up front

Simon Church. A willing runner, though. That's his game. He runs and

runs, works the two centre halves. I can't remember a trainer coming on,

other than to bring a pair of shorts for Robson-Kanu. One minute of added

time. Chris Coleman will be hoping the

scoreline doesn't get any worse. Because it's by no means a Zat frer

Wales' -- disaster from Wales' point of view. The Dutch have taken a bit

of time to warm up, get into their stride, but their prowess up front

is there for all to see. It's been comfortable for them. Van

Persie looking for it again. Good decision by Hennessey.

So Arjen Robben's goal separates the two sides at halftime.

Wesley Sneijder will walk off, but Robben made the breakthrough. Louis

Van Gaal will have plenty to say to his side at halftime. Chris Coleman

will be relatively pleased. Halftime here at the Ajax stadium, as Arjen

Robben contemplates his 23rd goal for his country.

So Amsterdam saying farewell to their World Cup stars, Louis Van

Gaal's team heading to Brazil. They kick off against Spain. Tonight, a

final run out against Wales. No Gareth Bale or Aaron Ramsey. Wales,

even though they're a goal down, there have been promising moments,

but the Dutch very much in control. Barry, there have been promising

moments, but yet again, whenever we talk about Wales defensively, we

always look like we're going to concede a goal. Yeah, there's an air

of inest yablt about the scoreline. But the middle third of the game,

Wales made the Dutch look a little bit shaky. Their football let them

down a bit, they were giving the ball away. Wales created one very

good chance, well, they had a spell where they were going to create a

chance for themselves. Something to take out of it, but, yeah, three or

four really good chances for the Dutch. That's a little bit of luck,

good goal keeping and bad finishing has kept the scoreline to what it

General thoughts is. ? I think Wales did pretty well. They kept the ball

quite a bit. That kept Holland are playing cruise control a little bit.

Actually, I thought Wales played well. They should have created maybe

one or two more chances, if you got people in the box. But, I think, the

Dutch are just waiting for Wales to make a little bit of a mistake and

then pounce. You can see they're really, they're probably about 65%,

70%. And early warning signs from Robin Van Persie, very early on. You

get this feeling that as Rob says, the Dutch are very much knowing

what's ahead of them. They play Spain in a few days' time, when the

World Cup gets under way. And yet they're yet to -- they're yet to go

into second gear. Even from this half, we sometimes criticise, it's

critical of our team that we rely on Ramsey and Bale. But the Dutch rely

on Van Persie and Robben as well. That's just terrific skill. Great

save from Hennessey. If you're being honest, really, the Dutch could be

4-0 up. They could be. Maybe three. Take it easy!

LAUGHTER I think they had three good chances.

But the goal, I thought, I think probably Wayne Hennessey probably

feels that he maybe should have done a bit better. Maybe that's bad luck

there. They created, when Robben went through and it was cleared off

the line, that should have been a goal. Then obviously, the other two,

were really half chances. This is the next chance. It looks like it's

a great ball, but it's not actually. It's too easy. We stopped it there,

Chris Chester has gone towards the ball. Gabbidon drops in. They get

away with it this time. Brilliant turch, should have scored. -- touch.

Wales will pay for something very simulator on. I did have a smile, a

couple of seconds before this happened, Kevin in commentary said

Holland were going nowhere, and all of a sudden Van Persie, Sneijder,

bang and they're in. That's the difference, because when they pop

it, the touch is perfect there, for a little one-two. That's the

difference. That gets the chance. Then Wayne should have done a bit

better this. It creates the chance. At the start of that, we haven't

gone far enough back there, it's the same run. Run across the line,

straight ball over the top. They're appealing for offside. Great player,

yes, again great run. But the line was just off. Van Persie is in, from

a ridiculous angle he's tried a shot there. He struck it superbly. It's

come straight at Hennessey so quick. The bad luck is that it struck

Chester and fell to Robben. From the first one when Van Persie shoots

from a wide angle, Wayne feels he should have been onto that. After

that, he can't really do anything about it. There have been moments

where Wales is looked promising -- have looked promising going forward.

Yes, you see this chance, three players go towards the ball. Two

players go towards the ball and one midfielder pulls off behind. He

would have been clean through on goal. They get away with it, because

they come back with a cross there. Then this one. Really, they should

have Church go near post. Robson-Kanu at the far then. This is

a good play, good run. He probably crosses it too early. If he takes

another maybe three yards there, it gives the boys a chance to get

towards the near post and get the chance there. Because he actually,

when he plays it, it looks a good ball, but he plays it so early it's

difficult to get on the far post. I mean King was there. But it makes a

chance for the near post then. The man you want in the box, Simon

Church, is out there putting the crosses in. That highlights the

attacking deficiency. Possibly. Church is a willing runner. He's put

in a fantastic mikeshift, particularly in the left-hand

channel. I think that was fantastic. Rob will know better than me, he's a

striker, but that's a sensational ball in. It's only not a goal

because of terrific defending. To get back there and get it away to

safety. We have a live studio audience this evening. We have a

number of questions from our audience. We're going to go to Gary.

Is tonight's formation anything like we should be putting out against the

early qualifying games, bearing in mind we probably need to get off to

a good start, win and score a few goals? The second part to that is

absolutely true. We will more or less know how the group will shape

up after the first three games. By the time we go to Belgium, we will

have a good idea whether or not we're in the race or not. Too often

in the past, we've been out of it before we've got going. The

formation will be dictated by the type of players we've got. I think

the formation, as we were talking about earlier, is what the players

know at the moment. It's what Chris has worked with. It's what a lot of

them play at their clubs. So, I think that's what we'll go with. Hal

Robson-Kanu has really come on the last 12 months. He looks really

strong on the left side. Bal E.On the other -- Bale on the other side.

Let's hope they can get fit before too long. Hopefully he can play a

part in some of the first three Thank you games. Very much for now.

Jason, a real party atmosphere here as well. We have got dancers. We've

several of the Wales substitutes are warming up. We are expecting six

changes from Chris Coleman, either at halftime or more realistically,

as the second half goes on. That means we're expecting to see more

debuts, more new caps. Expect to see Tom Lawrence of Manchester United

getting his first senior cap. We could see George Williams of Fulham,

Emyr Huws will also be making another appearance, as he builds up

his experience towards the European campaign. Chris Coleman's body

language on the touchline during the first half, very positive. He didn't

move from the edge of the technical area. He was pleased with how Wales

set up, even though they are a goal behind. If they make six outfield

changes, as we expect, then poor old Williams, the back up goalkeeper

will have to wait a little longer to make his first Wales start. He's

been a subin 14 of 16 -- in 14 sub of 16 games. I know you like your

stats, Jason. Absolutely, I do. Good work. What do you think? Would you

throw on all the substitutes? I think it's inevitable. Most, if not

all, will get a taste of that atmosphere, the international stage.

Some of the lads, at the end of a long season for some of them will

get 25 minutes' We didn't rest. Ask you in general, from what you've

seen of the Netherlands, are they genuine contenders? Yeah, for sure.

Because they'll step it up probably three or four times in the World Cup

and the intensity will get higher. They'll be on point. Look at their

front three, what a front three to have. When you've got those boys

playing for you, you've got every Do you chance. Fancy Brazil, though? I

would like to see Brazil, just because everybody would love to see

Brazil win it in their own country, but for me, I would love to see

Argentina and Messi win it. All the Brazilian fans watching have

switched off, the thought of Argentina winning the World Cup in

Brazil! It's going to give them nightmares. Do you fancy Brazil? It

will be difficult to stop Scolari's team because he builds this

international community within the country, it's phenomenal. Never

underestimate the significance of home advantage in any country, let

alone in Brazil. That's one thing. They've got great players, great

manager, great experience. I can't see beyond the two big South

Americans. Certainly, I don't think Holland will be anywhere near them.

They will be better than this tonight. They will be more

disciplined. They've been so loose tonight, at times. I don't think

this keeper will start by the way. He looks a bit shaky. They're not

going to outscore some of the teams they'll come up against. Just by

movement kills them. Every time we move forward and back and run in

behind, they are all over the place. It could kill them in the World Cup.

You are saying the party is over for Spain? No, they went through

sensationally from their group. I just don't think Holland are

equipped to defend at the highest level, I think Germany and Spain

will be the two to contender with. This man is from Port Talbot, what

do you want to ask? Do you think we should use Jonny Williams attacking

more? Yes. I have played with Jonny Williams, he is a very good player.

Very underrated, quiet. He needs some confidence. He is a player that

will really, if Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey are missing for a

game, he is a player that can step up. I like him. I would like to see

Church may be a bit more clever in his runs into the box. He runs very

wide. It is difficult for him to create his own chances. Definitely

those two would stand a chance. Where would you play Gareth Bale in

the qualifiers? Where ever he wants to. Everywhere. Why do you ask that?

He has been so successful on the right-hand side will stop there

might be times he might have two play through the middle. The reason

I am asking is because at the moment it does not look like we have a

proven goal-scorer in that side other than Gareth Bale. Can you name

anyone in that squad who will get goals, not only to win the group,

but come second? He scores goals in that position. Would you play him up

top or through the middle? I don't think so. He can play up there,

definitely. Gareth Bale likes to play in the wide areas and then roam

around. Then you have Ramsey who can dictate play and give him those

chances. To be honest, his best position, with Wales, 433. He does

not look it, but it drops off when we haven't got the ball to a five.

When you play someone up top you have Gareth Bale, on which ever side

he wants and then you have Williams and Robson-Kanu. You have got to

play Gareth Bale. Let him be a little bit, because he is very

clever. He is not here tonight but we are almost set for the second

half. It is a great arena and the Dutch

fans will be enjoying this as they say goodbye to their World Cup

stars. They take on Spain, the holders. Australia and Chile. The

Dutch fans as well, lots of them will be making that trip as well,

Barry Horne? They travel in numbers and they travel well and they know

how to party. I have played in Holland several times, been over

there to cover The Games for television. The scenes outside the

stadiums are fantastic. They will travel in their thousands to Brazil.

As with everything else, the Dutch are particularly good fans to be in

the company of. We have a dreadful record against Holland. And one of

our fans in the audience want to ask you, did you play in the team that

was battered in Eindhoven? I am proud of my appearance record, I

rarely missed games. I didn't make that one! What about you Rob, great

memories of playing against Holland? I have never played against them.

Great memories of watching them. So, Chris making changes, giving

these Young players some international experience? As

friendlies go, it has been competitive, good football. I always

think it is now when these friendlies trying to cover them the

television is an nightmare. Trying to work out the changes, who is

playing where and by the time you have sussed it out, the game is

over. Obviously when all of the changes come along, that is when it

deteriorates as the game goes on. Great experience, he should use the

substitutes. It has been a long season. If you are allowed to make

six changes, make six changes. It will give the boys experience coming

on. You have to give them a chance and experience. Especially the

timing as well. Barry, who in particular would you like to see in

the second half? In a Welsh shirt, Huws. Let's go back to Kevin Rudd

Cliff and Rob Phillips. No changes to the Wales side. Robin

van Persie has gone off, so has Leroy Fer, the Norwich City player.

They have been replaced by Georgia Neo which Dom, along with --

Wijnaldum will stop and Jeremain Lens has come on. He will play up

front in place of Robin van Persie. And Wijnaldum will step into the

midfield in place of Leroy Fer. No changes in the Wales starting

line-up. So the six changes we expected will be delayed. Kevin

Ratcliffe, what have you made of what you heard from the boys in the

studio? Us being here are seeing a wider picture than them.

Defensively, I don't think we have been that bad. We have limited them

to chances. I don't think Wayne Hennessey has had too much to do.

Could he have done better with the goal? I am not sure. He was just

getting back up from making the first save. It sends him off

balance. The way we have set out our stall, we have made it difficult for

Holland. It is going to be difficult for us to come away with something.

You cannot see any goals in us. We always said that when there is no

Gareth Bale. We need to find another option. Not like you to follow Barry

Horne. What he has picked up on is very good. Holland have had good

possession and they had three great strikers on the pitch. But they are

nowhere near as good as a Dutch team you have seen in the past. I would

be surprised if it got through the first stages. You don't see them

getting through Spain, Chile and Australia? No, I don't see them

getting enough points. We have opened them up a little bit. If we

had Gareth Bale, we would have had a few chances. It is a big call, they

were finalists four years ago. But you mirror what I got the impression

from the Dutch media this week, they are not confident of escaping group

B. Their first game is against Spain and then Chile. When you play

against Spain, you have five or six players that you know. You have

probably got for tonight but then you have fought that need to perform

and be on top of their game. -- for. Going forward again. Wijnaldum,

his fifth cap. Arjen Robben has taken over the captaincy from Robin

van Persie. He can go and pack ready for tomorrow. Do you think Chris

will try to give it another ten minutes? Louis van Gaal has made his

changes. I hope so. When you start losing the rhythm you have got,

making changes. I think Barry Horne hit on it, how it disrupts

everything. By the time you readjust and find out what you want, you are

a couple of goals down. Chester has been solid back.

Johan Cruyff, the original does show master, you have two say. He was a

player, Kevin? He was. When you see Luis Suarez lifting the ball and

hitting people 's hands in the box, he did that years ago. Williams into

the penalty area. Ron Vlaar was there. King was waiting to pounce.

He has done well to get the ball across. Now he gets another chance.

Wales are refusing to lie down. Chester hesitated.

The Dutch have it again. Once more, as much of the first half, there's a

hum among the Dutch crowd. They're waiting for the party to Yeah, they

start. Are. They've not really got behind the team. It's a long way to

go yet. Which I suppose is a tribute to the

way that Wales have defended. I think sooner or later we have to try

something different. The whistles for the Feyenoord

player, which may have something to do with the whistles, here at the

home of Ajax. I wonder if there will be a party atmosphere at the end,

send them off. I thought there was more of a party when Wales played in

Belgium and they'd qualified for the World Cup.

There's Van Persie. All ready to go home and pack.

They'll be leaving tomorrow night. I'm sure they will have a big

sendoff. Wales will head for their holidays, three months and five days

away from Andorra. They will hope for a really good

start for their euro 2016 qualification.

Sneijder can shoot from here. He doesn't. He lays it back out. Oh,

and there was an offside flag. That was lazy from Lens.

His dad is now a football agent for the likes of Patrick Klievert and

Clarence Seivert. Must be looking into the media But he then. Doesn't

manage his own son. It's like the substitutions are

getting ready. Yeah three or four of the Wales subs are on that touch

line. Paul Johnson is -- Declan John is one of them. He's gone back to

the dugout, though. This -- Chris Coleman has talked

about having to cope without the big stars. It hasn't been too bad a

performance so far. Some encouraging signs. Not least

the tenacity of those Welsh players against many of the Dutch players,

who are technically superior. Having said that, any Dutchman would have

been proud of that by Joe Ledley, for not losing the ball. Robben,

scored once, driven wide, though. That's great defending from Danny

Gabbidon. He stops him getting the cross in.

Last five, ten minutes, we've really not got out of our own half. Corner

taken quickly. Sneijder keeps it in.

King does the safe thing. He had a bit more time than he

thought there. He needed a shout. They seem to have a bit more in the

Wilfred Boney type of player. Oh, no, once again. Sneijder takes the

free kick quickly, but it was a couple of yards ahead of where it

should have been taken. Losing it a little bit. It's been pretty poor

from Wales at the start of the second half.

Hal Robson-Kanu is making way for Cardiff City's Declan John, who

plays fullback for his club, but started off as a winger, so I think

he's going to play in an advanced role. It could be that Neil Taylor

goes in that advanced position. Barry said at halftime, he was

looking forward to seeing Emyr Huws. He won't have to wait too much

-- too much longer. The Dutch earn a corner.

Manchester City 's Emyr Huws is poised.

First touch for John. He won't lack confidence. It does look as if he's

playing in a wide position. Converted into a fullback by Cardiff

City. But he's happy going forward.

I asked him this week about playing against his hero, Arjen Robben. He's

thrilled at the prospect. I don't think he'll be so thrilled

when Robben starts running at him, that's the thing.

Martin has operated much as a right-winger tonight. That was

Joe Ledley. Well, we saw a glimpse of Emyr Huws

with his impressive debut against Iceland and the 20-year-old replaces

Joe Ledley, the end of his 51st cap, Crystal Palace player. He will have

a well-earned rest. A tap on the shoulder from Chris Coleman as well.

Emyr Huws, judging by what we saw against Iceland, very composed on

the ball, Kevin. He is very composed. I spoke to Lee Clark a

couple of weeks ago, and he was very complimentary about him, how well

he'd done. He doesn't think it would be favourable for him to go back to

Manchester City and sit in the reserves. He will need to get back

out, on loan, maybe at another Premier League club, rather than a

championship club. He's proved he can do it in that division. He said

he has a bit of everything, bit of everything for a midfield player.

Lee Clark, the manager of Birmingham, where Emyr Huws has been

on loan, has had a Manchester City run-out in the FA Cup against

Blackburn. It's all happened for him since

January. Gabbidon, who will be looking for a

club this summer, having been released by Crystal Palace.

Williams is brought down by Blind. There's a Welsh-speaking midfield

hub now. That will confuse the Dutch. It might confuse us! Bit

blatant from Blind. He's been a bit rash, two or three times. It's not

the first time he's caught somebody. Gabbidon has been released by Palace

and is open to offers. At 34, and 49 gaps behind him.

Three months and five days to Andorra. How close will this side

be? Obviously, three definites. We're looking at Ashley Williams,

Gareth Bale and Aaron Ben Davies Ramsey. Too? As well. The three

players that I did mention, that's your centrepiece. You really need

them to be playing in all our competitive games. Voges would be a

bonus? I think so. Certainly, we need somebody pivotal up there, that

we can hit and we can feet off and he does make it stick a little bit

better than Simon. Simon Church does make them runs in behind and he

works tirelessly, but Sam does get the opportunity as well.

Louis Van Gaal has made substitutions only when necessary,

rather than flood the pitch with replacements.

I think he's looking at a different aspect to it, though, isn't he?

Jermaine Easter will replace Simon Church to earn his 12th cap.

I don't think there's a time when he doesn't put in a mikeshift. -- put

Easter, what a chance to make an immediate impact. That would have

been his first goal for Wales. Well, caught napping. It was a quick

throw-in. Chris Gunter, I think he found Easter. He needed to be a

Joe Allen will be back. I think he thought he was fouled. The referee

Keynes. Great opportunity for the Welsh public to CDs players. You can

see what they are about. What we have got coming through. The manager

talks about a new wave of Welsh players coming through. He has in

mind George Williams, Emyr Huws. The Dutch try to raise their team

because it has been almost pedestrian performance. I think they

are thrilled that the prospect of Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is warming up.

back. Chased him all the way. Maybe Chris Gunter could have got his

cross in a bit earlier. But it was a great overlapping run. Emyr Huws

him. What a positive start from this Young lad. He got lucky early on.

Once he gets positive, you get past a couple of players. That would have

remember Jonny Williams when he came on against Scotland. How

inspirational he was because he was so positive when he got the ball. It

changed the game for me. The Netherlands look to regain their

composure. Have a little fright, then. Williams is back defending.

George Williams was brought up in Milton Keynes. Played for the MK

dons. In fact, played in an FA Cup win and scored his first goal in

that at 16 years, two months and five days! He likes to make an

impression. He certainly made an impression on us. If you think we

haven't got a Gareth Bale, that burst of pace like that. That was

optimistic from Ron Vlaar. It was a long way out. And Bor centre half,

that is hopeful. He is not known for it. You did not score from that

range? Against Liverpool. It wasn't as well struck as that one, at

Chile. -- actually. Williams in the thick of the action. He is the type

of player you need in the team who will work up and down. Louis van

Gaal, will he appreciate Wales have shown resolve? You will most

probably come up against something like this in the World Cup.

Especially in the first couple of games, because it is so important

you don't lose your first game. With it being against Spain, might not

have as much of the ball as he they have had to night.

Cillessen took the easy lesson. -- option. It is a warm up and the big

test is in nine days. Robben is in behind Gabbidon. This time he set it

up the Jeremain Lens. Whatever the frailties of the Dutch, you know

that going forward, even without Robin van Persie, they can strike

like a cobra. They did so there. This time Robben the provider.

Jeremain Lens makes it 2-0. It is our own faults, giving the ball away

when we are attacking. It is the timing of his past. He has a look,

then another look. Gabbidon cannot get a touch on it. The weight on the

pass was just right. In the meantime, Wales have made a change.

Andy King is going off. And Nigel De Jong, makes way for Klaas-Jan

Huntelaar. Stay second cap. 40 goals. A big favourite in these

parts. This is his 62nd cap. Has been a

target for the Premier League many times. Has not made the move. Ajax

player. Does it change again now to damage

limitation? I don't think we have got two goals in us. Most probably

another five minutes and Chris might have had a thought of putting

another striker Ahn. -- on. It is going to be difficult. What we have

done tonight, defensively has not been too bad. We are our own worst

enemy, giving the ball away in a bad area and then them hitting us on the

counter attack. The second goal is a poor goal to give away. It shows

there prowess in breaking forward. It shows the inexperience of the

players. When you get a lapse of concentration. It is 2-0 as we

approach the last ten minutes. Arjen Robben has got one, set the other up

for Jeremain Lens. Wayne Hennessey has not had to make the saves

Neville Southall did all those years ago. He was forced into action.

Gabbidon gets there. De Vrij fancied a shot. You don't mind that. The two

centre backs have both gone for that.

What about James Chester's debut? It has been difficult. They have had a

lot of the ball. Do you see him starting against Andorra alongside

Ashley Williams? We have James Collins as well. James Chester is

giving us another option in that position, which we needed. Danny

Gabbidon, I would not be afraid to have him in the side. It depends

where he is playing. But he has the experience. One thing I have seen in

James Chester is, he is not bad on the ball. The second goal, he

overstretched. And then you have Robben, who is world-class, running

at you. Huntelaar gives them that extra option.

Sneijder fancied his chances from there. He was popping those in in

training yesterday, Wesley Sneijder. Emyr Huws was in the way that time.

It is getting difficult for Wales. They may face a testing last few

minutes. The new wave continues. Neil Taylor, the left back was

Swansea City makes way for Paul Dummett from Newcastle United. Under

21 player but making the senior step to night. Michel Vorm and Tim Krul,

his Newcastle team-mate. 22 years old. Left back. We have an array of

left backs. Good interception. Joe Allen having a word with the referee

will stop he has had an excellent game. He has now moved more central.

If you are a Dutch fan, you say you cannot see them getting out of the

group, but you cannot write them off with a goal threat rushed Jamaat no,

you cannot write them off with dolls, but there are frailties in

the defence. You are playing against Spain and then you have Chile as

well. Do you see them going through? You fancy the South

Americans in each group, you have got to. Australia, the other team.

I'm not sure Wales are that physical. I think we've actually

changed. I'm not sure what you request off Australia. They're very

well organised. Drilled. Maybe very, very dangerous on set pieces. Tim

Cahill scored a goal, something like his 32nd goal for his country the

other night. The Netherlands building again. They will send their

fans away relatively happy. It's fairly subdued. You have to say

that. Oh, and Hennessey! I think that was

going to be a free kick any way. I don't know if he's taken it out of

his hand. I tell you what, it seemed comfortable for Wayne Hennessey,

then all of a sudden, he's come across him. It's a lovely ball. A

first-time ball in from Lens. Then again, it's a little bit high I

think. There's a Jazz Festival here at the weekend. They may be louder

than this crowd tonight. And One Direction are playing two dates in

this stadium. After this game, I'm going in One Direction.

Vorm has just settled on a new contract at Nottingham Forest.

It's really tight for Allen. Strong as well, Williams, for a youngster.

He's a good, physical presence. Chester gets up above. Blind is full

of running. You feel Gunter will be the right

back in the next campaign? I think so. Adam Matthews is missing the

Celtic player. What about Emyr Huws to start

against Andorra alongside Joe Allen? I think Aaron Ramsey and Joe Allen.

Gareth Bale did tweet a good luck message to his Welsh team-mates for

the game. Lovely ball to Lens. Did he use his

hand then. The referee looks across to the assistant. Once again it's an

opportunity that's come from giving the ball away. It was a poor ball

The dying minutes, how do you sum up this game? Well, at times, we've

been there. We've been compact. At times, we had a period where we kept

giving the ball away. You can't afford to do that at all. Not at

all. Not at international level and for me, we've done it too many times

tonight. I like what I've seen from one or two of the young lads. Emyr

Huws looks as if he's going to be a player. The Williams lad as well. He

looks excellent. He had a great start. Quick feet, looked sharp,

something we haven't got. It's a thought into Chris' mind. Oh, that's

a terrible clearance from Chris Gunter. That's the sort of thing

you're talking about. It's got a bit sloppy. Probably tired, as much as

anything. Yeah. It's as if you want the game to be finished. Maybe,

hopefully, not too many minutes added on. He's a little bit

physical, isn't he? I suspect there will be a Dutch lap

of honour at the end. Louis Van Gaal, well, when will we see him in

the Premier League? That's the big question. He's not going to have

much time off this summer. He's not. I think he will be very

entertaining. He likes a verbal battle. There's no doubt about that.

I was really impressed with the way one journalist stood up to him in

the Dutch press room. When I spoke to him, he told me that was happy

Louis Van Gaal. "You ought to see him when he's annoyed." There will

be some good battles with Premiership managers. He's been

around. He knows the score. 62 now. I like this lad. Williams. He's so

direct. Oh, given the ball away. That would have been a collector's

item, Chris Gunter scoring. George Williams knows how to make an

impact. Three minutes of added time to play.

Then these Wales players, well Joe Allen can concentrate on the wedding

plans. And the rest of the Wales' players can take a holiday. Then

prepare for a journey they've never undertaken before as an

international team - a trip to Andorra.

The fact that the roof hasn't come off this Ajax arena... It might come

off at the end, I think. They're ready to party now. They're winding

up the horns and trumpets and God knows what they've got.

This is Lens, who's really made an impact.

Robben opened the scoring. It's not looked like an Eindhoven. Wayne

Hennessey hasn't been throwing himself around to block the

succession of shots. He may have work to do yet.

Gabbidon, he's made a good impression for any potential

suitors. Can the Netherlands finish in style,

before they head off for another World Cup adventure? Robben has been

the standout player. He has looked the part. He looked ahead of

everybody. Looks as if he's ready for the World Cup now. Match fit

Huws ran back into trouble but he does well.

The final whistle goes. The fireworks go off to send the

Netherlands on their way. They will leave with a victory under their

belts. Jeremain Lens scored the second. Arjen Robben gave the Dutch

the lead in the first half. Wales have been beaten mainly by that man,

Arjen Robben. They've been beaten by not disgraced. And the Netherlands

will travel to Brazil, while Wales contemplates Andorra in September.

It's finished here at the Amsterdam arena with Louis Van Gaal getting

the win he wanted before they head for Salvador. Netherlands 2, Wales

0. And a very comfortable night's work

for Mr Van Gaal and his Dutch side. Rob was right, Arjen Robben was the

difference tonight. Yes. It's probably going to be his last World

Cup. As Kevin summed up at the end, he looks like he's up for it. Him,

Sneijder and Van Persie, as we've known really, they're going to give

teams a game. They're going to be a threat going forward. Robben looks

really up for it. He's a game changer. Sneijder, you know,

fantastic. That's a great pass. It's straight, but a great pass. And the

difference there is Church's similar ball in the first half is cleared by

great defender. That one goes through Chester's legs. Good night

for Robben. Good night for the attacking players in Holland's team.

Still questions about their defence, though. Positives for Wales. George

Williams and Emyr Huws looked very much international footballers. Yeah

Emyr Huws looks good. George Williams, very impressioned. --

impressed. He's so positive. He came on and took the game by the struf of

the neck and he -- scruff of the neck. He wanted to do something with

it. That's one thing that we have in Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale. He

seems to have that. He doesn't care who he's playing against. So I like

that about him. He looks like he's going to be, have a bit For the

future. Dutch, it's all about Spain and Salvador and the World Cup. For

us, it's about building for Euro 2016. Let's look at the fixtures:

Three games that I think are winnable if Chris Coleman gets his

full squad out. I think it was halftime, that will set the tone.

Too often in the past, we've not given ourselves a chance in the

opening games. We have a great opportunity to hit the ground

running. How many times have we sat in a live TV studio and said exactly

the same thing, we have a great chance, maybe this is our year? Too

many times. In the past, we were over optimistic. We don't want to be

negative at the outset. The expanded format, we have got a chance this

Joe, hard luck tonight. What's the overriding emotion at the end? I

think we are disappointed to lose any game. But the manner in which we

performed today, we gave it everything. At the end of the

season, the lads have been off for a long time against a top team. No

disgrace at all today. In particular, the first half. We

really matched them. It was unfortunate, the way we conceded the

goal. It was a bit unlucky. Thank you, good luck with the wedding on
